I really enjoy drawing tenn(kousei)-kun, I just thing the ensembleverse protags are so interestinfg!! (depictions aren't 100% accurate btw but based on other fanon works with him in it)

#hakuouki #sanchi #sannan keisuke #yukimura chizuru #hakuouki art #my art #so #the bad ending after the fushimi inari shrine when heisuke hands chizuru sannan’s glasses a saying there was no body #am I the only who thought kodo had kidnapped him to turn him into an experiment since he’s the first sane fury?#because only now years later do I realize they were implying he crumbled into dust—hence no body o.O #bc damn it I had an internal argument abt how fucked up it was that sannan was probably even worse off than the first gen furies #if kodo had him at his mercy and the shinsengumi didn’t even launch a rescue #and then the thousand plot bunnies that never made it out of the meadow #where chizuru DOESNT get on the ship to edo and instead remains behind to hunt down her father and save sannan #idk #i guess I just didn’t register the fact that furies CRUMBLED INTO DUST and LEAVE NO REMAINS #I feel like an idiot now #still like my misinterpretation better tho

My attention span has been all over the place recently, and I've been super indecisive, so I've been struggling to keep anything going with my M.U.G.E.N. project.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting more focused now, though, as I've decided some stuff I was struggling with, so I might be able to post some proper updates on it soon! :—)

For now, have this thing I put together in like two minutes:

i felt the need to doodle this scene from sannan-san hakumyu because like... it's just so endearing? shion's chizuru really captures the wholehearted dedicated pining she has for him in his route (i mean, you really gotta CHASE this man). honestly she's in top three of my favorite chizurus. and of course, teruma's sannan-san really did grow on me. i was used to mikata's sannan-san (since i'm a hakumyu boomer), but i adore both their portrayals and voices.

haven't drawn hakuouki in a hot minute, but it'll always have a special place in my heart.

#bleach #chizuru honsho #i forgot some random bonus chapters #and had to go back and tack them onto the end there #its a shame chizuru was just kind of a weird joke character #i actually really like her design #the digital colorist picked a weird washed out color for her hair #but Kubo's omake art gives her this pretty sort of plum red color #she was not my first choice but she's kind of one of the only characters left with both enough appearances to be worth cataloging #but also few enough to not be an impractically large collection

taiwan travelogue by yang shuangzi tr. lin king is indeed an award-winning banger and perhaps the first time in my life i've ever felt vindicated for dual-wielding a novel with its english translation because the act of translation itself is such a big theme in the novel. big win for metanarrative-obsessed himejin everywhere!!

#i genuinely burst into tears twice just thinking about the ending of this book #read if you enjoy: narratives about colonialism. barriers to understanding formed by language and power dynamics. FOOD AS LOVE #i also just bought the authors most recent book and its also very fun and maybe what id recommend as a lighter entry point into her work #as a yuri thats also very slice-of-life with food-as-love themes but requires less historical/cultural background to access #alas no. 1 siwei st doesnt have a translation. yet... unless.......#txt #spoilers further in tags #i think part of what makes chizuru/tsien ho such an intriguing character is carried by the conceit of translation as interpretation #her role as someone who dreams of translating novels but not one who writes them... delivering others stories to a broader audience #shes very much a character who we only get to see from the outside; most notably from the perspective of the novel's unreliable narrator #which we read as a 2nd ed translation of the original japanese text by an uninvolved third party looking back years after the authors death #but it turns out [spoilers] chizuru herself wrote the 1st ed translation and the first time we hear *her* voice is in her translators note #and her perspective and the negative space between her words are both *infinitely* fascinating #rotating her in my mind. 小千妳到底是何方聖神啊...
