Random idea: Vox and Niffty playing a variant of red hands together. Niffty keeps losing and eventually gets frustrated. It's not fair! Vox is made of electricity, of course he's going to be faster than her! Vox just grins like an asshole and pompously tells her that if she didn't want to lose, she shouldn't have agreed to play. Niffty claws at his waist, yelling in frustration while Vox laughs like a super villain.

so much happened in this whole episode but i’m still on fig infiltrating ruben’s dream, making it look like the place where his friend was murdered, and then disguising herself as kipperlilly & repeatedly saying different variants of “somebody needs to take the fall for this, and it’s not going to be me. it’s going to be you.” while adaine as the elven oracle shows up next to her. can you imagine waking up from that, the idea of a horrible truth being pinned on you by your friend to save her own skin while the personification of fate and destiny stands there, almost as a promise that this is GOING to happen to you. we don’t even know if this kid is guilty. my god.

Keep interrupting crochet bag projects to start new crochet bag projects. Haven't had more than 2 going at once and I've finished all of them; the problem is that it has created a never-ending cycle of crochet bags. Any time I get close to having no more bag projects I start a new one. And then in the time it takes to finish that one I start another.

#this happens a lot when i am in distress #i just sort of spew variations on the same item until i give myself tendonitis or get better. usually tendonitis...#its not that i get stuck its just easy and its one thing i can do right and also very low stakes #so i feel better when i work on them and bad and antsy when i dont #anyway started bag number 5 an hour ago #bag 4 is very big and thus slow to work on #crochet #crochet bag

#been thinking about the placement of the showdown between belos and the hexsquad happening in ep 1 instead of anywhere else #mainly for lunter reasons if that is ever not obvious #(aka for a lunter endgame it makes more sense to have the ending of TTT happen in the last episode because Stakes)#(hunter actually dies and flapjack's sacrifice is the conclusion of the evelyn/caleb backstory)#(and it's pretty hard to work hunter or anyone from the hexsquad into the final showdown otherwise)#this is where the show shoots itself in the foot by having luz and hunter's relationship be on like tier C of importance #because it IS emotionally charged to see belos exerting that kind of power into the kid he groomed one last time #it IS emotionally charged to see luz wrestle with her determination to defeat belos and her love for hunter #it IS emotionally charged to know that someone will die here and it may be one of the kids #whereas the battle at the end of WAD is barely a battle and just meant to be the bow on top of luz's development #if luz and hunter's relationship had been more central to the show then hunter facing belos is a given AND a good narrative choice #who else gets to kill belos but the person created in the likeness of the one that made belos reach such lows to begin with?#or at the very least have the other people close to luz have some history with belos or something #eda couldn't care less about belos. same for king. and don't even get me started on amity...............#this is just a hexsquad problem btw like what is willow's bearing in this. the track system works wonders for her #in theory her life with belos as emperor is as good as it will ever be #same thing with gus #it's just hunter! that's the important piece there!#this show is just. broken. it truly refuses to bring up any of the actually interesting characters #sorry this rambling doesn't have a point besides 'toh is dumb sometimes' which is a thing i often say anyways #but man...... besides luz's resolution there's nothing to the ending. nothing.

I feel like I never see people talk about how scary chasers are. The pure dread I feel when I see hordes of people lust over their atomized perception of what trans women are. The jokes that reduce us to mere tropes, an exotic off-shoot of real girls. It horrifies me how little agency I have in how strangers talk about me and people like me. There are some chasers that really want to be perceived as allies to trans women, and I've tried reasoning with those people. It's like I'm a ghost. I am not actively in that moment an object of their desire, so I do not exist in their world.

#this isnt *just* about people that fetishize girls with dicks. theres also fetishization around how vulnerable we are #when we're reduced to easy targets and low stakes and no self esteem and very few friends and shit #any non transfems reading this. i have two requests #1. be nice to us and treat us like people #2. be mean to people who treat us like walking sex toys. be fucking brutal to them. drag them through the mud #yknow what im gonna stop being vague. this does apply to chasers in general but there is one specific guy that i fucking despise #his username is fucking ''futalovingcockmaster'' and i want him assassinated #he is fucking atrocious he's transphobic he's misogynistic he's racist he's a harasser and i want him to be publicly executed #rambles

hmm i have an Idea for the K/S advent calendar... remains to be seen if i can actually write things in time. don't even want to claim it yet for fear of writing like. five sentences.

#welcome caller #aroaessidhe 2024 reads #I thought this was okay! a sweet romance and exploration of mental health and friendship #It does feel quite young for a book about characters in their 20s; the plot and writing feels very similar to a lot of YA contemporaries.#But also I get that being queer/trans/adhd and having a unsupportive parent can mean people experience #teen narrative kind of things when they’re in their 20s. etc #it’s pretty cheesy; the plot is very transparent (and at times a little frustrating that They Haven’t Realised Yet)#and i feel like the not telling him at the end was a bit too drawn out (i get bad mental health exacerbates that but like…..)#but if you’re looking for a mostly-cute low stakes neuroatypical romance maybe check it out idk #also: ace lesbian side character; nice surprise for me! (just mentioned once but she’s his best friend)#ohhh the experience of being a picky eater and figuring out what a normal amount of things to remove from your burger order is #and which ones you just pick out yourself after. yeah i relate to that one #as a side note the MC looks asian to me on the cover.....? he's white

Erika brightened a little at the mention of their birthday dinner: As much as she loved running around the ballroom in her new costume, enjoying the music and dancing of the costumed revelry, she also loved their little private corner, where it could just be the whole family watching as she and Lon dug into their presents and blew out their candles. It was also exciting because the cooks made the twins anything they wanted (and oftentimes, what one wanted wasn't what the other wanted), as well as any sweet, fizzy drink they wanted with dinner and dessert-it did wonders to make both feel very special on their birthday.

And as nervous as she could so often be, she also nodded along with her brother's assessment of trick 'r treating this year, both of them thrilled at the prospect of getting out of the house for a change, even as their parents exchanged unsure looks at the idea-with all the excitement of the company and everything going on with them, they hadn't had a chance to discuss this wish of their children...

"We'll, uh...we'll talk about it, like we said, Lon," Randall finally decided to answer, even as his son pouted at the idea, folding his arms with a tiny huff. Smiling at this, Randall reached down and ruffled his boy's black locks, assuring him, "I promise-tonight, your ma and I will talk about it this evening, and we'll give you our answer at dinner. How about that?"

"Okay!" he brightened at this, he and Erika bouncing up and down in their spots on the floor, while Randall himself flashed a little smile to Emily-that conversation was going to have to happen, at one point or another...

one of my biggest pet peeves and my smallest hill to die on is when people act like parchment is just The Old Fashioned Paper, or worse, use those terms interchangeably. it’s especially egregious in the fantasy genre, of course.

and i can kind of see how they got there: a lot of surviving texts from medieval europe are on parchment and that influences the way people perceive things; because ofc western fantasy draws a LOT of things from medieval times, that just gets exported along with the ideas that thatched houses are constantly falling apart and gothic churches come pre-blackened with soot

there’s a lot of ground to cover with the history of the written word, but the thing about paper is that it really took off because the gutenberg press made it fast and cheap to make books and paper was CHEAP and much easier to produce. parchment is expensive and, quite frankly, a much more limited resource (and it also didn’t disappear after the printing press took off. i’ve seen books printed on vellum, but by that point it was for the novelty/explicitly because it was so expensive). but it does have significant longevity vs paper, so of course it was usually reserved for important cultural items. people wouldn’t be using parchment to make a flyer for the county fair or to advertise a job, and probably only used it for correspondence if they’re very rich. granted, before the printing boom galvanized literacy levels (because it made reading material cheaper and more accessible), generally only rich people were literate and would have a need for something to read and write on, but there have been pamphlets forever

paper existed before the 13th century and honestly, whether it was anachronistic in real life shouldn’t bother you in a made up setting and anyway PLEASE remember that paper and parchment are not the same thing

#i don’t even know what set me off this time lol i was just standing at the toaster and blacked out #i know i say a lot of things are my biggest pet peeve but GOD this might actually be it #extremely low stakes and irrationally high annoyance #spell scrolls printed on parchment. iffy. i understand they need to be transcribed with expensive paper but also #what is the average wizard’s cow body count #honestly if we’re gonna be REAL picky and wizards are supposed to use the high end fancy shit. their spell books should be on vellum #another thing to note abt this tho #parchment isn’t indestructible. it needs to be kept under very specific conditions or it will bloat #fun fact: this is why old books had clasps or chains on them. so they could keep it closed tightly and limit moisture getting in #but it doesn’t degrade like paper does #the category of ephemera is fascinating to me. the stuff that wasn’t meant to stick around like wrappers and ads and flyers #most of that stuff was on cheap paper and has long since disintegrated bc no one thought to preserve it bc why would they #yknow. the stuff we generally consider trash lol. but when it’s OLD trash i want to study it #mine

okay i'm struggling again

#she bork #tbd #idk i'll be fine life is just very mean and unfair and worst of all ordinary and dull. i go to work i come home i do nothing worthwhile.#weekends are never long enough and i never get to cram enough into them to enjoy myself. if life was mean but also generous and glamorous i #could maybe put up w it bc for every low there would be a high but it's not. it's just mean and you hit that low and then instead of it #being followed by a high you just end up on a plateau and eventually you hit another low. god i just don't think i was supposed to live in #this ordinary boring tedious life like i'm not made for it. not in a pretentious arrogant way but in a way that's like i'm going fucking #crazy like i have cabin fever but w my life rather than my environment (which tbh maybe they come down to one and the same). idk sometimes i #want to just blow up my life and go somewhere else and do something else and have fun and not feel so weighted down by responsibilities and #bills and worry about money specifically. like i was miserable in high school but now i think i look back on it fondly bc 1. no true #responsibilities or high stakes and/but 2. the stakes always FELT high like i was CONSTANTLY up and down and euphoric and depressed. not #healthy at all but it always felt like something was HAPPENING and now it just doesn't. i have always though that bored was the worst thing #to be and now here i am all the time it feels like. bored.#and again at the root of everything is that life is mean. mean mean mean. sometimes shit just HAPPENS that's bad and fucks you over and #there's nothing you can do about it. and again if there was something guaranteed to make up for it that would be fine but there's not. you #just have to recover and let it go and move on. and i'm not good at that
