learned something about myself lately

#i dont think its even the fact almost all my characters are somewhat beasts in one way or another. i just #really like tails and wish i had one myself #and then my oc designs are a little tame theyre mostly human shaped with animal features. but they always have tails #my eyes have recently been opened to the appeal of long whiplike unicorn tails.. so flowy and curly #something about the tuft at the end being long and swirly just does something for me..#maybe it would make sense to change auggies tail shape so it looks like a meteor. her design is mainly pink with hot pink accent #so it would be cool to use that and orange to make it look like a fire meteor.. maybe itll help complement the blue/green in her design #head full of ocs today so expect a ramble later #if i had a tail i think it would be long with a kink. so it kind of folds over once but not in a curl #when it wags its kind of a swaying motion. i have thought about this a normal amount #yapping

Neynari's parents and Se'txelu/Rolukx's parents, respectively. I've sketched concepts for these characters before, but it's been two years and they were sorely in need of updates. So here's updated concepts!

#oeyä ayskxawngtsyìp #given some of the NPC designs in afop: artificial hair coloring as a fashion seems to be canon for the western frontier clans #(i assume it's artificial coloring and not natural variation because the little tuft on the tailtips is always standard black #even when the head hair is red/brown/blonde)#(and also you can unlock greenish and purplish hues for the player character's hair)#ANYWAYS yeah that said i imagine Seylana started coloring her hair blonde after Neynari was born #to match her daughter :)#vontxu has a bit of an unsettling demeanor but i promise he's actually a nice guy lol #just not always great at expressing himself #tanu's scars come from a near-fatal hunting accident he was involved in when rolukx and se'txelu were young #as you can see he did survive and is fine now...but it was a close call #lunaya wears an absolutely ridiculous amount of hair beads and yes they do all make clicky clacky noises every time she shifts even an inch #might clean/color these eventually (or draw new ones to clean/color) but. we'll see #i do want to do at least one colored doodle of seylana and young!neynari just for the hair color thing #but when will i do that? who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#could be this weekend. could be next year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ we'll see #my art

Im not super into Octavia but i think shes cute. She gave me very square and sturdy energy for some reason whilst also being rather elegant. I found that combo odd as i typically associate elegance with smoother, flowing shapes. But she spoke to me and who was i to disagree

#codacheetah #my art #pokemon #pkmn #vulpix #fennekin #ok so #idk preface i'm not a modern pokemon design hater this is not hater art #but i do think. the style shift progression of pokemon has been fascinating to watch.#a lot of early pokemon particularly the first mmmmm two generations were relatively sensible proportionally #a lot of pokemon that feel like animals but to the left.#and as time has worn on pokemon i think have kind of shifted away from 'balanced' design towards 'cartoon' design #like fennekin. ridiculously huge head with big huge eyes and dramatic fur tufts and tiny little neck and body #compare to vulpix which is also a ridiculous chibi animal mind you. but its proportions are more grounded in reality #head that's only Mildly too big for its body and smaller eyes and visible paws (vs. fennekin's stumps)#i've always felt like fennekin and vulpix is like the kind of microcosm of pokemon designs shifting to be sleeker and more exagerrated #where it's so apparent since they have the same basic design idea #hell you can kind of see it with alolan vulpix. slimmer neck smaller body bigger eyes #this post is kind of meaningless i've just been thinking abt it lately #pokemon no longer has a consistent artstyle. there are many galarian and paldean pokemon that i dont think ever would have made it in rby #and many early gen pokemon look visibly different to the new because they are more simplistic and understated #this is not a bad thing it is just a Thing. it's the natural growth of a franchise where they have to reach further with ideas and designs #with each generation. because there's 1000 of these fuckers. we are long past Basic Fox and Basic Bird and Basic Bug #every pokemon has to be uniquely charismatic and recognizable when they have so much competition #anyways all this to say i think vulpix and fennekin look ridiculous standing next to each other but in a vacuum? both designs are nice

if escape rooms as team building exercises became popular im not sure if id be more excited or terrified

#if it isnt already anyway.. i can see it happening as a school frosh thing. idk if it would catch on as a workplace thing #i kind of find the concept of being locked in with strangers and working to find a way out weirdly exhilarating though #at least compared to icebreakers cause i dont have to spend 10 minutes racking my brain for something to blurt out abt myself #as a bonus u could like. put people into groups and give prizes to whoever escapes first second third etc. apparently they also do themed #escape rooms.. maybe let people pick a theme? or voluntary sign up? actually this would be really fun for smth like a blind friend date #although if i found out i was locked in a room with an online friend id be too excited to actually escape LOL #ive never done an escape room before so sadly i cant speak from experience. its like up there on things i want to try next to rug tufting #workshop and visiting new art exhibits or conventions. i seriously need to get out more if it wasnt for the horrors <- school and anxiety #i was planning to invite cass to a drop-in art workshop in town but neither of us could go bc typography is making us go thru hell and back #AND THEY HAD A BUTTON MACHINE TOO #im nostalgic bc i miss working in groups and not being awkward abt it or worrying abt schedule conflicts #i realized that i learn best in groups and its a little corny but i like sharing ideas and talking through a problem #in elementary i could just sit down with friends for review and come out of it energized *and* more familiar with the material #and i could technically still do it now. but as adults we're more picky abt who we work with on top of being way more busy outside school #maybe im lonely. im shy and grew up not talking to ppl unless i absolutely have to so its hard to make friends on my own i guess #only thing getting me thru it is telling myself that humans like helping and that my cringe is overblown in my head. but its hard #hence the escape rooms. i have been able to talk to 2(!!) people though!! mostly abt school stuff but im glad to be on friendly terms #i dont really know how to be happy these days cause im constantly scaring myself abt my portfolio and finding places to work #not being ambitious is part of not wanting to put energy into something that wont work out while also not having the passion to do literall #anything else.. i should probably talk to my counsellor ugh #yapping

got the damn skeleton working

turned out it was scaled 0.4x vertically for no reason so once I fixed that it stopped behaving weirdly, next time I use blender I'll rig up the top half of her

#blender is just like that sometimes #there are still further adjustments to be made like adjusting the textures and model #and the hard part: adding fluff and hair where I want to #I want to put little tufts of fluff on her elbows and ankles and chest #and her curly hair will be challenging to do in a way that looks good and doesn't have issues/use too many polygons compared to other parts
