I’m quickly roused from my sleep by a familiar voice and jerky movements. Blinking, my eyes readjust to the light and upon feeling the bed dip as Sejanus tosses and turns, a disturbed expression on his face, sleep-talking borderline shouting. My face fills with worry as I sit up, placing my hand on his shoulder with a soft voice.

“Sejanus, darling, wake up.” I whisper but it doesn’t do much. “Sejanus.” I shake him gently before speaking louder, seemingly snapping him out of his nightmarish sleep as he startles awake.

Looking around, his breathing is laboured as I can see the sweat beading on his forehead. With a face of worry, I scan over him, making sure he’s physically fine before speaking again.

“Same nightmare, again?” I ask softly, not touching him too much, not wanting to overwhelm or upset him.

He nods, solemnly, still calming his breathing as he sits up next me.

“Do you wanna talk about it?” I ask gently, brushing some of his hair out of the way. He shakes his head. “I can get you some water, or tea?” I whisper.

“You don’t need to.” He shakes his head, looking down slightly ashamed. “You do so much for me, love.”

“I like helping you and taking care of you.” I press a kiss to his forehead with a soft smile. “What’s happening to you at the moment is so horrible with the Games and Marcus, I just want to help you get through this. I want to help in any way I can.” I say, rubbing his shoulder, soothingly. “So, water or tea?” I ask again quietly.

“Tea.” He says, making me smile.

“I’ll be back in a few minutes. Don’t run off.” I tease lovingly before putting my slippers on and walking to the kitchen, yawning as I put on the kettle.

Putting the tea bags in the cups, I hum to myself softly as the kettle boils, not expecting to feel Sejanus’ arms around my waist. Gasping softly, I turn to look at him, relaxing at the sight of his face.

“You can wait in bed.” I offer, reaching for the kettle. “I’ll be done in a minute.”

“It’s lonely in bed by myself. I’d rather be where you are.” He whispers, resting his head in the crook of my neck, placing soft kisses to my collarbone.

“Okay, love.” I smile softly, stirring the tea and removing the tea bags before adding some milk. “Do you want to go back to bed now?” I ask softly and I feel him nodding.

His arm slips around my waist and he reaches for his tea, as I grab mine before we head back to the bedroom.

We get back into the bed, sitting up and sipping on the tea in a comfortable silence.

“Do you want to talk about it now?” I ask gently and he seems to think about it.

“There’s not much to talk about…” He trails off, taking another sip. “I just can't stop seeing him, everywhere. I see him in my dreams, I pass him in the street.” He says and scrunches up his nose, knowing that Marcus died. “And I know that sounds crazy-”

“It doesn't sound crazy.” I reassure with a small smile, reaching for his hand, holding onto it and gently rubbing over his palm with my thumb. “You’ve been through a lot.”

“He’s everywhere.” He says, voice breaking. “And things are only going to get worse.”

“Baby, you don’t know that.” I try to reassure in a soft tone. “Things will seem better in the morning, you should get some more sleep.”

“I don't want to see him again and I don’t want to wake you up again.”

“Sejanus, I am here for you and I always will be.” I whisper. “I’m not leaving your side tonight, not ever. I’ll be here if you have another nightmare and I’ll make us some more tea and we can talk or not if you don’t want to.” I smile, stroking my thumb over his hand.

He nods softly, placing his empty cup on the side as we both lay down again, him pulling the covers over ourselves. Shuffling closer to him, I wrap my arms around his torso, as he slings his arm over my body. I look up at him and press my lips against his, pulling back with a small smile.

“I love you.” I whisper.

“I love you too, I don’t know why you put up with me but I’m glad you do.” He whispers with a small smile.

“I ‘put up with you’ because I love you, dummy.” I tease playfully. “Because you care about me and everybody for that matter, you’re a great friend and a loving boyfriend, you’re funny and intelligent and I love you so so much.” I smile, resting my head on the pillow. “And you're not getting rid of me anytime soon.” I punctuate the end of my sentence with another kiss which he deepens, chasing my lips before I was going to pull away. Moving my arms, I wrap them around his neck, pulling him closer, our bodies pressed against each other before he pulls away, needing to catch his breath for a few seconds.

“I don’t know what to say except that I love you so much.” He chuckles. “I love you.” He grins, pressing a kiss to my forehead.

I chuckle softly. “I’m glad we’re on the same page.” I smile, resting my head against his chest, listening to the soothing sound of his heartbeat.

“Definitely.” He whispers, placing a kiss to the top of my head before resting his head there.

“Remember,” I say quietly, breaking the silence of the room. “If you have a nightmare, wake me up if I’m not already awake.”

“Okay, love, if that’s what you want.” He chuckles softly and I smile feeling the vibrations from his chest.

“Mm, it is.” I smile. “I hope you sleep well, baby.” I whisper.

“You too.” He places a final kiss to my head before laying down, the room soon filling with the familiar sound of his breathing, slow and deep signalling that he’s fallen asleep, reassuring me as I later fall asleep, head resting on his chest, listening to his heartbeat as I drift off to sleep in his arms.

It's the kind of s/o he always pictured himself having, this is just what he expected life to have in store for him.

As a result, he sort of treats the things you do pretty casually. If you didn't know better you'd say he doesn't notice or care.

But of course, you know him better than that. The kiss on your knuckles before every meal and the quick compliments he gives you throughout the day are how he lets you know he loves you and the work you do.

Remember how I said Formaggio hugs you from behind while you cook? Well, Melone does that too.

But unlike Formaggio he does it while you're doing literally anything. You could be scrubbing the toilet and he's embracing ya and peppering kissing down your neck and. probably distracting you quite a bit.

But also unlike Formaggio, Melone stops when asked, or when it's clear his affection is making it super hard for you to work.

He'd love it for you to braid his hair, and if you have long enough hair, he'll braid your hair too.

If there's ever a day where you aren't doing too hot, sick in bed and he has the day to stay home, he'll be your house husband for the day. A perfect chance for him to give back some kindness ;3

Ghiaccio

It's no surprise that he's coming home with a million things to complain about. So he'll pace around the kitchen and ramble while you make dinner. He's usually irritable at this time, might get picky with how you cut ingredients or how long you cook for.

Still loves everything you make, even if it's not to his exact specifications. Mutters out a "thanks" afterwards and pulls you close to press a looong kiss to your forehead.

Lets you massage the immense amounts of tension out of him. Also wants you to run your fingers through his hair, brushing through his curls and massaging his scalp. For once he stays silent, sighing and leaning into your loving touch.

This man spouts a million words a minute, but he knows he doesn't need to speak to let you know how much he loves you. He just basks in your comfort. Damn, you treat him so well.

Risotto

He loves the caring part of you, he really does, but at the start of your relationship you may need to tell him a few times to stop saying things like "you know, you don't have to do that for me."

Eventually you reach a compromise, and when it comes to cooking and cleaning, you two make it a team effort whenever he's around.

When it comes to helping him relax after work though, he never complains (anymore) about your pampering.

Favourite moments from the NT production of Hadestown?

I have SO MANY so I’ll put the majority of them under the cut. This production is really special to me and I just.. love the whole cast and production team so much. Idk how Hadestown will change from London to Broadway, but come what may the NT production will always hold a place in my heart.

Now without further ado… my Fave NT Hadestown Moments™:

During Road to Hell, when Hermes says “and brother thus begins the tale of Orpheus…. and Eurydice” Orpheus and Eurydice are standing on either side of him, facing each other, and they look so absolutely awestruck at seeing each other for the first time, and Orpheus gives Eurydice a slight bow, and she gives him a slight curtsy, and they both just stare at each other (to borrow a line form Les Mis) in a moment of breathless delight

During Any Way The Wind Blows, Eurydice lights a candle, which the unseen Fates blow out. She lights it again and it stays lit until after she descends into the underworld. Hermes blows it out to symbolise her death

Hades and Persephone sitting and talking to each other for the majority of the first act. What are they saying to each other??? I’d love to know. And when Persephone comes up from Hadestown, she gives Hades a lil kissy on the forehead. Smorch.

THE!! DANCE!!! BREAK!!! DURING!! LIVIN’ IT UP ON TOP!!!

And in that vein, how much the ensemble just seem to love each other??? Like there’s so much love, arms flung around each other, warm, sloppy embraces, little kisses just love love love all around!!! And there’s no like, gender restrictions to the love. Men and women have their arms flung around each other, as do men and men, as do women and women. There’s just so much Love™

Speaking of love…. Orpheus and Eurydice’s near-ridiculous amounts of PDA!! Now I am not someone who is normally comfortable with PDA. But those two??? They stole my HEART!!! They made me believe in love again!!! Me, a cynic!!! She sits on his lap!! He carries her around the stage on his back!! They tease each other and kiss each other and hug each other and love each other!!! Soulmates!!!! I’m gonna cry

The ensemble’s really Ominous tone when they sing “every little penny in the wishing well, every little nickel on the drums…” during Way Down Hadestown. It’s really eerie and unsettling and COOL

The Fates make these weird, almost animalistic noises before they sing When the Chips Are Down??? It’s also v unsettling and cool

After “Gone I’m Gone,” the stage lowers, bringing Eurydice with it to Hadestown. The stage rises again, without Eurydice, and completely empty except for the Red Flower that Orpheus gave to her

Like literally ALL of Wait For Me. The lighting. The dry ice. The new lyrics. The Fates’ parts. The la la la la la la las. The lighting (Bradley King Best Lighting Design 2019 I’m speaking this into existence). The use of the revolving + rising stage. When the ensemble comes in!!! The LIGHTING holy shit the workers’ headlamps??? Shinning out into the audience???? The flash of light at the end giving way to near-absolute darkness??? I literally cried the first time I saw it. I was just so overwhelmed. It’s literally STUNNING.

Hades stroking the inside of Persephone’s arm before he takes Eurydice into his office, in a teasing, taunting manner. The way Persephone just stands there, powerless to stop what’s about to happen. The way she cries, then chuckles, then wipes her tears away and turns to the audience to offer her a drink, because drinking is the only thing she can do to numb the pain. Amber Gray Best Supporting Actress 2019 or ELSE!!!

Act II:

The ENTIRE staging of Our Lady of the Underground. everything was perfect. The way Persephone staggers around the stage, drunk. The way the workers are clinging onto her every word. Just… how damn funny all of it is. And then the whistle goes off and everyone has to go back to their miserable lives :(

In Way Down Hadestown II, Gloria Onitiri plays the final two notes on the accordion with such SASS and it always gets a laugh out of the audience

During Flowers…………… when Eurydice says “I remember someone, someone by my side, turned his face to mine……….” she reaches her hands up as if she can FEEL Orpheus hugging her from behind, his face just over her shoulder, but he’s not there!!! And she’s all alone!!! There’s no one there and I’m Crying!!!!!!!!!

When Orpheus walks through the audience, onto the stage and says “come home with me…” and he’s all cut up and bloody and his clothes are torn and dirty but he doesn’t care, all he cares about is bringing Eurydice home!!! And the way they says “it’s you” “it’s me” “Orpheus” “Eurydice”…. my heart.

“YOUNG MAN.”

The way Patrick delivers that whole little “you’re not from around here son” speech, actually. Also that’s the first time we see Hades and Act II and he’s got his sleeves rolled up and that Tattoo…. and  I literally SWOON every time. God of the damned and also being damned hot amirite???

In How Long, Hades and Persephone are singing to each other from either side of a Hole in the centre of the stage (the rising + lowering part of the stage having been completely lowered into the ground), symbolizing the void in their relationship. Or the gulf that lies between them. I love symbolism.

During Epic III….. when Hades yells “WHERE’D YOU GET THAT MELODY??”… and he’s on the rising stage with Orpheus… and all his workers, and his wife, and the Fates are all singing his Song Of Love below him, spinning all around him like phantoms of his past. And there beside him is Orpheus, singing the same melody, and Hades can’t escape the music, can’t escape the memory of how it felt when the world was new and he was a young man in love with a woman. Only a woman. And how now, even after all those years, that same woman is the only thing that his heart truly loves. He can’t escape the truth. That his heart beats for Persephone and he loves her with every fibre in his being. And then he Remembers, he remembers the song of his love, he remembers everything.

In Conclusion, I Am Crying

That’s honestly one of the most beautiful moments of the show

But also,

The ENTIRETY of Doubt Comes In

Wait For Me and Doubt Comes In have the best staging and lighting of the whole show you cannot change my mind. When Doubt Comes In starts, all the lights go off and you’re entrenched in darkness. Then the Fates pop up from nowhere carrying lanterns, and those lanterns are the only lights onstage for a while. It’s so eerie and cool. I have no idea how to explain it but it’s the most Ancient Greek song of the whole show. Like between the darkness and the fog caused by the dry ice, and the Fates carrying their lanterns….. that’s the song that makes me go “ah yes, this is a show that’s based on a story from Ancient Greece.”

Also the fact that Orpheus and Eurydice’s roles are reversed in this song, with Eurydice being hopeful and Orpheus having Doubt™

In Road to Hell II when the whole story starts back up again…. everyone in their Act I costumes… Eurydice coming back on stage with a beautiful smile and lighting her candle up again, symbolizing her new life….. “with a love song”….. Orpheus coming back onstage again, and a spotlight shines on him and Eurydice, and they lock eyes and you just know they’re about to ruin my whole damn life again.

ok so i finally have a chance to gush about how much of a fucking stupid sappy diabetes-inducing sweet baby spy is when it comes to being romantic. he’s a very good dancer!! he comes from a family that’s owned a grape farm for lots of generations and they’re pretty big news in his little town so you can bet your ass they either hosted or were invited to a bunch’a parties, etc. ynno. rich ppl shit. he was raised with a nanny and the works, and of course, knowing how to dance was very big!! home-schooled. but we’re talking about dancing!! yeah, a lot of ballroom dancing, waltzing, and for a brief period of time he learned some SALSA for some stupid mission ( he’s not like wonderful at it but he knows it ). absolutely fluid. 100%. he prefers to keep dancing one-on-one with his someone special!! he’s not much of a showman when it comes to this cos he likes to keep it intimate, SORRY VOYEURS!!
