Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately lower visual quality than I wanted be because Tumblr only allows 10 images so I smushed them into three canvases instead of two post. Anyway beta trolls Headcanon and some thoughts below the cut.
Aradia
Aradia is the design I probably have the most experience drawing of the beta trolls purely because of how many zines I’ve drawn her in the last year. I like thinking of her hair similar to Pinkie Pies’ in g4 of mlp, where its very curly bouncy in her alive and godtiered forms but straightens out more when she’s ghosting up the place and in Aradia-bot form. I didn’t realize until a recent zine I had been drawing her horns ways too low for comic accuracy but I am a creature of habit so I keep drawing them like that.
Tavros
I’ve grown to love this kid because of my recent reread but I do not like drawing them. Between the Mohawk and the long, straight horns, I don’t care to draw their most important traits so he unfortunately only gets drawn in these group drawings. As for the one ear being pierced, it’s kinda a reference to cow tags but also I think it just fits them.
Sollux
Sollux a pretty easy character to design. I just have to imagine a greasy nerd kid growing up too fast for him to put on weight, add his troll bits and voila. The snake bites are definitely a hold over from the humanstuck I made for him last year but I think it just kinda add to his whole vibe. The undershirt comes from someone who also sits in a hot-ass room most of my days and will wears a second layer so leaving the room won’t feel like stepping out into a frozen wasteland.
Karkat
Karkat for me has always been short and stout guy. Other than that most of his facial features are taken from me, being someone who also over exaggerates their faces and nearly always is squinting a little.
Nepeta
Between all my designs of Nepeta the only thing that ever changes with any consistency is her hair. Like giving her cleft lip scar because I gave it to my fan-descendent of her and it’s cute.
Kanaya
Like two months ago I saw a post on here saying give that girl a nose (in reference to Kanaya) and it was the single most true HC I have ever seen. I also like completely throw out any references I have of her when I draw her hair because I think she should have 1930’s waves and curls. I typically only have to draw the super simple eyes so the only thing I had to change was giving her actual eyes.
Terezi
Got pretty comic accurate but probably would erase some of the chin to imply she’s fat a little better if I wasn’t doing this more rigid style.
Vriska
Also pretty comic accurate with the exception of the snake bites which is probably because I don’t draw her a lot and I don’t think about her much enough looks wise to have any specific head canons.
Equius
Goodness his hair gave me a struggle, kept on looking like a balding metal head until I added the pushed back stuff. Also returned back to drawing pseudo animal ears by giving him horse ears only angle to better fit a humanoid head.
Gamzee
I hate their make-up but every thing else about drawing them is a dream; goat ears, not straight hair, simple horns, silly little guy. What more could I ask for.
Eridan
And I’m almost done but unfortunately this doofus is next and requires the most detailed bust even in canon. Due to drawing them in this year’s 413 countdown I know how I like styling their hair and fins so I basically just chop the hair up since this is suppose to be during comic hcs and then follow their canon and Pesterquest designs with a few added features and boom. I was drawing everyone with the dark grey lips but I forgot for Eridan so I’ll just say they use concealer on their lips.
Feferi
Yippee! Back to ignoring canon and just giving her the biggest eyes on account of her glasses and cute piercings. I originally based her fins off of lion fish fins but they’re definitely more based off of betta ventral fin now.

How a slimy, orphan, lonely piece of shit like Yoongi went from bouncing around foster home to foster home, to being in the innermost circle of the Jeon family, one of the most notorious mobs of the city, he will understand. All he knew was he was grateful that he decided to pick the pocket of the wrong person all those years ago. That person being the son of the former mob boss, Jeon Jungkook.
He had caught onto Yoongi’s quick sleight of hand and went back to confront him. Yoongi was a full head taller than him at the time, but Jungkook still managed to beat him bloody and bruised. But instead of killing him, he did something completely unexpected.
“Work for me.”
Spitting out some more blood, Yoongi stared up at the younger kid like he was crazy. “Why?”
“Because you have guts. Not many people try to steal from me. Come on, I’ll take you to my doctor.”
For nearly twelve years, Yoongi served the Jeon Family strongly and proudly. As Jungkook took his father’s place, that only rose Yoongi from foot soldier to one of the closest people in the inner workings of the Jeons. For a kid coming from nothing, Yoongi still couldn’t believe his life. But he could never picture leaving it. This was all he’d ever known: blood, pain, sex, money, drugs, and power. He didn’t know anything else, he wouldn’t know what else he could want. He would live and die in this life, that’s all he ever expected.
Until one day, he simply took a wrong turn, and found himself wanting more.
Jungkook had mentioned offhandedly that he would be talking with a certain business type to help expand his empire. It was expected, of course, for Yoongi to be there. So there he was, 7:30 pm standing outside a run down apartment complex, staring down at the address in his phone.
127 Ocean Street, Apartment 413.
To say Yoongi was unsure if this was the place was an understatement. Typically Jungkook liked to hold his meetings in upscale clubs he owned downtown. Not places that looked something out of his own childhood. But trusting his boss’s word, he started towards the building.
Once he was outside of the apartment, he knocked on the door in the pattern that was so ingrained into him, it was almost second nature. He frowned when the door didn’t open right away. He waited a few beats more before he raised his fist again to knock for a second time, when the door swung open before him and instantly he knew he had made a mistake.
Standing before him was you, dressed in a black cocktail dress, hair and make up all done. Like you were all ready to go out for a dinner date. You didn’t look at all surprised to see a stranger at the door, in fact you seemed almost relieved.
“Thank god! You must be the replacement sitter.” You left the door open for Yoongi, who simply stared at you in shock as you stepped away from the door. “What are you gonna stand there all night? Come in!”
Unable to form words in his mouth, he followed your orders, stepping into the apartment, shutting the door behind him. He stood by the door silently as you continued to fiddle with your appearance in your hallway mirror, putting on earrings.
“Eunji is asleep right now, she shouldn’t be up for a while. There’s breast milk in the fridge, so if she wakes up hungry, there’s that. I should only be gone a couple hours, but I shouldn’t be home any later than midnight,” you rattled off as you slipped on your shoes. Yoongi opened and closed his mouth several times, trying to tell you that he wasn’t your replacement, that he had the wrong house. But before he could even attempt to fully form the words, you grabbed your coat and headed for the door. “I’m so sorry, I’d give you a tour but I’m already running late and my boss will kill me if I’m not there before eight. Her crib is in the bedroom, first door on the left. Bye!”
And you were gone, with the lock of the door.
Frozen, he couldn’t move, staring at the door you had just left from. It was too late now, he couldn’t leave. There was a child, and by the sounds of it a baby, left in his care. Turning on his feet, he followed your instructions and walked further into the apartment. It was sparsely decorated, but scattered around the floor were children’s toys and playmats in between all the well loved furniture.
When he approached the bedroom door, Yoongi regarded it for a moment before opening it. Yellow light from the room behind him bleed into the dark room, only illuminated by the nightlight, projecting stars and moons onto the walls. It looked like you had converted half of your bedroom into a nursery, judging from the full size bed and desk that were pushed to one side of the room. The crib, as you said, was there, pushed up against the wall; as well as a changing table, a basket of children’s books and a rocking chair. Cautiously, Yoongi approached it, careful not to make any loud noises that could possibly rouse the child.
Standing above the crib, Yoongi stared down into it and sure enough, there was a sleeping baby. Something happened in that moment as he stared down into the cradle, there was a tightening in his chest and he felt as if he couldn’t look away.
Reaching into his pocket, he went for his phone, dialing Hoseok’s number without a second thought.
“Yoongi, where are you-?”
“Cover for me.”
“What? Yoongi, where are you, Jungkook isn’t going to start anything-”
“I’m preoccupied at the moment. Tell him. . . I don’t know. Tell him something. I can’t make it.”
With a huff, Hoseok agreed. “Whoever he is, he better be worth it,” he grumbled as he hung up. Yoongi could only hope that his friend would figure out a plausible, believable explanation for his absence
Returning his phone to his pocket, he continued to stare down at the child. Yoongi pulled the rocking chair up closer to the crib, sitting down stiffly as he never let his eyes leave the child for a moment.
This is fine, he thought to himself. He’d been on stakeouts before, keeping an eye on anyone who didn’t pay their dues or following around anyone who needed a protective detail. If you were gone a couple hours, this would be done and over in no time.
Yoongi just sat there and watched the child with an unwavering gaze. The baby (Eunji, that’s what you said her name was, right?) slept soundly, on occasion raising her small fists as she dreamt. He could feel the corner of his lips begin to tug, wanting to smile at the small creature. But just as the smile was beginning to crack, a knock on the door brought his lips back into a frown.
Quietly, he left the baby alone again, trusting nothing should happen to her in the few moments he would be away. He peered through the peephole and saw someone outside the door, suddenly he remembered that whilst you had mistaken him for a replacement sitter, he forgot that the actual one would eventually arrive. He opened the door, and there before him was a young man who looked almost similar to him. There were a few moles here and there that separated them from each other, and hair color was completely different. But he could see how you would so easily confuse him for your replacement sitter.
“Uh,” the young man was confused, no doubt not expecting Yoongi to be the one to answer the door. “Is this- Y/N’s apartment? I’m here to watch Eunji?”
He could’ve used this opportunity to escape, to free himself of watching a child he had no business with. But he felt that tightening in his heart again. No, he couldn’t leave this child. He couldn’t confuse and scare you that you had accidentally given your child off to a stranger (you had, but he didn’t want to risk any chance you’d go to the police either)
“I got her, don’t worry.”
“But wait-”
Without a second thought, Yoongi’s hand grabbed his wallet, pulled out a wad of cash and shoved it in the actual replacement sitter’s hand. “Take it. Shut up. Don’t ask any further questions.” With that he shut the door on the guy’s face.
The slam of the door shook the walls, causing a small thud to echo through the house and suddenly the worst noise he could ever imagine started.
The baby started crying.
Quick as he could, he ran back towards the bedroom. Her once peaceful sleeping face was now all scrunched up, small screams emanating from her tiny little lungs.
This is not fine.
In a panic, Yoongi scrambled for his phone again, dialing for Namjoon.
“What is it, Min?” He could barely hear his voice over the muffled base of the music.
“Don’t ask me any questions and do not breathe a word of this to anyone: how do I stop a baby from crying without killing it?”
“I’m sorry?” Yoongi could hear the smile in his voice.
“Answer the question!” He hissed.
“Well, usually picking it up and rocking it would help soothe it, if not, you could feed it,” he answered in an amused tone.
“How do I pick it up?”
“I don’t know. You just. . . pick it up.”
“Namjoon-”
“Goodbye, Yoongi.”
“Motherfucker,” he muttered to himself once he realized that Namjoon had hung up on him. Remembering the child in the room and he had just swore, he hissed out another couple curse words before finally managing to shut himself up enough. “Okay, picking up a baby. Easy-peasy,” he said as he shucked off his leather jacket, tossing it somewhere in the room and rolling up his sleeves.
As he leaned down over the crib, he suddenly became acutely aware of the gun tucked into his pants, of the pills he had packed into the jacket he just chucked across the room, of how much pain and destruction his hands had caused. Surely he was not capable of handling such a small and fragile thing.
But the longer she cried, the more he couldn’t take it. Swallowing his doubts, he swooped up the baby into his arms, tucking her close against his chest. “There, there. It’s- it’s okay?” He said as he gently patted her back, bouncing his body up and down. “Your mom. . . your mom will be home soon. She’s going to a- a work thing, I guess. But she’ll be back soon. I promise. Then you’ll never have to see me again, okay?” She only cried harder at that.
The longer he stood bouncing her, the more his body seemed to ache from the action. Before his legs could give out, he lowered himself back into the rocking chair. Leaning all the way back in the chair, Yoongi started to gently rock back and forth with ease. By some miracle, it worked. Her loud cries quickly softened into small blubbering hiccups. Yoongi himself almost started to sob, relieved she had stopped crying.
After a few minutes, her hiccups had ceased. Turning his head to look at her, he wondered if she fell back asleep. He was surprised to see a pair of big eyes looking back at him. He felt uncomfortable under her small but steady gaze. “Uh, h-hi, Eunji.” He could’ve sworn there was a sparkle in her eye at her name. Could babies recognize their names at this size? How old was she even? He had so many questions that only you would have the answer to. He wondered if he would be able to ask you when you got home. Glancing down at his watch, it was only 8:15. Barely an hour since you’d left, but you’d be home soon enough. “I’m. . . I’m Yoongi.”
Whilst Yoongi had compared watching a sleeping baby to being on a stakeout, it was anything but. After she had cried her eyes out after being so rudely awoken, she had started crying again. He attempted to rock her back to sleep, but then he remembered Namjoon’s words: “If not, you could feed it.”
Keeping an arm tucked closely around Eunji, Yoongi lifted himself out of the chair, heading towards the small kitchenette. As you had said earlier, there were bottles of (what he presumed) was breast milk. Taped to the fridge were instructions on how to warm it to the perfect temperature. Following them to a T, he placed the bottle to Eunji’s lips and again, she sobbing stopped. Her small hands grasped at the bottle, tiny fingers grazing over his as he held the bottle steady. His eyes flickered down to her hands. How small and tiny her fingers were. Just barely he could feel the touch of her hand against his.
“Never realized how. . . small babies are,” Yoongi found himself talking aloud. “Then again, never really encountered a lot of babies. . . Not since. . . not since foster care, I guess.”
When she finished her bottle, he set it down in the sink. He didn’t know what came over him but he laid her up right on his shoulder, patting her back gently to burp her. The action came on instinct, but he didn’t think to question it.
All full, and tuckered out, Yoongi could see her eyes struggle to stay awake. Quietly, he made his way back into the bedroom, instead of laying her down in the crib, he settled back down in the rocking chair. Once she was asleep, he’d put her in the crib. That’s what he’d do. Yeah.
Soon enough, small baby-like snores were emitting from Eunji. He could feel the small puffs of her breath against his neck. He smiled, never feeling so. . . so comforted by an action. He made an effort to stand but the moment she made a noise of discomfort, he stopped. Perhaps she wasn’t fully asleep yet. He waited a few more minutes before trying again, and again she stirred. Relaxing back into the chair, guessing he was stuck there. Unsure what else to do, he just held the sleeping baby in his arms, staring at the wall.
It wasn’t until close to eleven when you returned home, and Yoongi was still seated in the rocking chair, his back stiff and achy.
“I’m home!” You softly announced, he could hear you taking off your heels in the entry hall.
“Bedroom,” he responded, wincing at the way Eunji flinched when he raised his voice barely an octave. Within moments, you stood at the door frame, surprised but a smile on your face.
“Oh, wow.”
“She fell asleep and I didn’t want to move her. She wakes up so easily,” he tried to explain as you walked over to him. Yoongi stilled as you reached your arms around your daughter, gently lifting her out of his arms. He watched with awe as Eunji didn’t cry or fuss as you tucked her back into her crib, as if she knew by instinct her mother was home and she was safe again.
Once she was laid down in the crib again, you turned to Yoongi, who still sat defeatedly in the rocking chair. Yoongi had stared down drug lords, gangbangers, and all other criminal sorts before, but sitting under your gaze as you just looked at him, he felt small. Unsure what else to do, he stood up, grabbing his jacket from the floor and putting it on.
“She likes you.”
“What?”
“She’s never fallen asleep like that,” you explained. “She hates when anyone besides me picks her up. You’re the first one.”
Yoongi shrugged, unsure of what to say.
You bit your lip before continuing. “I’ll walk you out.”
“Thank you.” He followed after you at a slow pace, a strange feeling of melancholy washing over him. You stopped just before the door, he watched as you grabbed your clutch, digging through it before handing him a couple twenties. He shook his head. “No need.”
You frowned at that. “Are-are you sure?”
“You don’t have to pay me, it’s fine.”
“I-uh, okay.” You put the money away.
Reaching past you, Yoongi unlocked the door, opening it for himself. “Have a good night.”
Just as he was about to step out the door, you grabbed his wrist. “Wait!” He stared at you in shock. You seemingly mirrored his expression, surprised by your own brazenness. “I actually was wondering if I could possibly get your number? I know Nuri sent you over, but she didn’t give me your number. But considering Eunji actually likes you. . . Could you possibly help me out again next week?”
Yoongi knew he shouldn’t. Every logical atom in him was practically screaming at him not to. But he could see in your eyes that you needed help, desperately. He couldn’t explain it, but he wanted to be that help. He wanted to help you.
Silently, he nodded.
You broke out into a grin, again that familiar pull on his heart was felt. “Perfect! Um, what’s your number?” You went for your bag again, scrambling to grab your phone. Slowly, he gave you the number of his phone. You typed out a quick message into your phone, pressing send. He felt a buzz in his pocket.
“Got it,” he assured you.
“Great, and it’s Hyeon- right?”
Yoongi opened his mouth to correct you, but stopped himself. He shouldn’t give you his real name if he was to continue under the guise of the replacement sitter, he should use that name. “Yeah, Hyeon,” he said, stepping outside your apartment.
“Alright, get home safe!”
He couldn’t recall the last time someone told him to get home safe. “I will. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
With that, you closed the door. Yoongi stared at the door a few moments longer, still trying to fully comprehend that that truly did happen.
As it turned out, Hoseok had let it be known that Yoongi was at a different type of club and he was a bit. . . tied up to be there. He was relieved that Jungkook took it in good humor, ever since he’d come across Young, he’s been different. Still stern to the rest of his foot soldiers or business partners, but allowed himself to express more. Or as Yoongi had put it on occasion, ‘Not have a stick up his ass all the time’.
By the time Yoongi returned to his own apartment, he had an assortment of different texts from Hoseok, Namjoon, and Jungkook. But he ignored them all, seeing your message at the top of his screen. You’d already texted him the details for next week, Thursday morning, wanting him to watch over Eunji whilst you attended a three hour video conference. He could do that, he already managed to survive one babysitting gig. How hard could it really be?
The week flew by, having been full of running errands for Jungkook to make up for his absence. It ranged from watching over him and Young as they went on a date, collecting fees from loaners, and ensuring the distribution of product was getting out onto the street.
With each passing day, he found himself looking forward to seeing you again. It was odd to him, having only met you once, but he felt a connection to you. Yoongi wasn’t sure if he should be scared or happy about it.
Eventually Thursday morning rolled around and he found himself in front of your door again. This time prepared for what’s to come. He’d swapped out his leather jacket for a woolen pullover and his nice button up with a softer T-shirt. He had silently debated on whether or not he could bring his gun inside, but considering you would be home, he didn’t want to risk it, leaving it in the glove compartment. Taking a breath, he knocked on the door, not bothering with any specific code. In a matter of seconds, you swung open the door, a wide awake Eunji in your arms.
“Hyeon, you’re just in time!” You exclaimed, a smile on your face. You were dressed a bit oddly. From the waist up, you looked picture perfect business casual. A pastel colored blouse, paired with nicely done hair and makeup. From the waist down, you were wearing sweats and mismatched socks. As if you’d noticed him taking in his appearance, you quickly explained. “Video conference, they can’t see me from here up so, didn’t bother looking all nice.”
Eunji turned and looked at Yoongi, the small child’s eyes wide and curious. Yoongi gave her a closed mouth smile, unsure if she would even remember him. She smiled back, an opened mouth grin that was all gums and no teeth.
“Can you say ‘hi’, Eunji?” You asked your daughter. She made a few happy sounding gurgles in response. “Good girl!” You cheered before looking back at Yoongi. “Come on in!” You stepped aside, allowing him space to enter. He shuffled past you, looking around the sunlight filled apartment. “So the meeting will just be a couple hours, I’ll just be in the next room. She’s already ate, so if she’s crying for a nap. If she scrunches her nose all funny, it’s time for a diaper change. In the meantime, just play with her. She likes Mozart, FYI.”
It took all his strength to not visibly grimace at the idea of a diaper change, but he nodded. “Diaper change, nap, play, Mozart,” he repeated.
You revered Yoongi in an odd way, but said nothing about it. “Alright, the meeting is in five. Guess that means I’ll pass her over to you.” You began rearranging Eunji in your arms, ready to pass her off into his. He stiffened slightly as she made a small cry for you, but when she looked up at Yoongi, the noise stopped in her throat. “See, she likes you.” With that, you went into the bedroom, closing the door behind you.
Yoongi stood there for a moment, staring at the door, feeling different than the last time you’d left him. A small swirly feeling in his gut. Unsure what to make of it, he looked down to the small child in his arms. He felt awkward and stiff holding her, but she made no fuss. Only staring up at him with big eyes, did she recognize him?
“Okay. . . let’s get you to your toys, I guess,” he muttered as he carefully maneuvered his way over to the mess of toys beside the couch. At a snail’s pace, he lowered himself to the ground. He resituated Eunji in his arms, tucking his hands underneath her arms, holding her at arm’s length. “And sit,” he said, sitting her down across from him. Loosening his hold on her, he watched as she wobbled in place before leaning forward, pushing the boundaries of her abilities. Clearly, she wasn’t too strong to sit up all by herself yet as she leaned forward too far, almost falling smack on her face. Thankfully for his quick reflexes, Yoongi snatched her right back up. “Okay, you’re sitting here then.” He pulled her onto his lap, keeping one hand firm across her body like a seatbelt. “I’m bringing the toys to you.” With a stretch of his arm, he grabbed the nearest toy, a giraffe blanket type-thing that rattled as he picked it up. “Want this?” Yoongi asked, holding it to Eunji. She looked at it for a split second before smacking at it in his hand. “That’s a no,” he tossed the toy aside, grabbing the next one, a small plastic green keyboard with a butterfly on it. “What about this one?” Yoongi asked, pressing down on one of the keys, playing a note. Eunji’s eyes immediately zeroed in on the keyboard, making grabby hands for it. He brought the toy closer, playing it within her arms reach. She banged on it for a few minutes, uncoordinated and random notes of music filling the air.
That continued on for the next twenty or so minutes, Yoongi dragging a toy close to her and waiting for her judgment. Sometimes she’d slap it away, sometimes she’d play with it for a few minutes before shoving it aside. He’ll admit, it was entertaining, listening to her babble and smack about toys. Never in a million years would’ve he thought he’d be doing this, something so soft and caring. He couldn’t imagine it, him with a child, yet here he was as if it was the most normal thing to him.
It all went south about an hour in. Eunji was quiet for a long time, not quite interested in any of her toys anymore, no matter how much Yoongi dangled one in front of her eyes. Then he smelled it. “Shit,” he muttered to himself, picking up the child. “Did you poop?” Instead of that go-lucky smile she had on earlier, her face was all pinched. “You’re pooping,” he clarified, remembering what you said about her making a face. With a sigh, he lifted her up. “Diaper change, diaper change. . . I can change a diaper.”
Contrary to what he said, Yoongi could not change a diaper. He stood at the changing table, absolutely dumbfounded. He’s seen way grosser things; brains splattered against glass, cleaned up vomit and blood out of his car, stitched up wounds, and set bones. But he was frozen at the idea of changing an infant’s diaper.
But he couldn’t back down now. He was in too deep. Holding his breath, he began to unbutton Eunji’s onesie, leaving her naked, spare the giant bag of cotton wrapped around her bum. “So you need a clean diaper, which are here,” he said as he sifted through drawers, easily finding them and pulling out a fresh one, “and wipes.” He grabbed the small box. Everything prepped and ready, Yoongi looked Eunji in the eyes. “Hey, look at me. Look at me. You stay still and let me clean you. You got that?”
The baby only giggled in response.
Ten agonizing minutes of struggling, gagging, mumbling curse words under his breath, and down a sweatshirt, Eunji was freshly dressed in a new diaper and back in her clothes. “I really hope you don’t retain any of those words, kid. Don’t want your mom thinking I’m a bad influence.”
Eunji was back in his arms, happy and content, and hopeful she’d remain that way for the time being. Yoongi returned to the floor, setting her down this time on her stomach on a blanket. He placed some of the various toys she was playing with earlier in front of her, hoping to entertain her. Yoongi sat off beside her, simply watching her bang away at the toy piano and strangle various stuffed animals when his phone buzzed in his pocket.
Without a second thought, he answered it. “Min.”
“There's a situation going down at the pier.” Hoseok’s voice responded on the other end.
“How bad?”
“Just a couple Hwangs, caught trying to take inventory.”
Eyes still trained on Eunji. “I’m busy.”
“Busy with what? Min, we need you here, now!”
He knew he should go, it was his job, his lifestyle. But instead Yoongi found himself struggling, unable to depart from the small child that was placed under his care. “Doesn’t matter. Besides I’m on the other side of town, I won’t get there in time.”
“I swear, if you’re just getting ass-”
Yoongi hung up the phone before Hoseok could finish.
It was another hour before you emerged from your bedroom, no longer half dressed in office clothes. You were wearing more casual clothing, looking far more relaxed now that the meeting was over. Eunji’s head immediately snapped in your direction, joyous sounds coming from her as you swooped down and picked her up.
“Hi there, sweet girl. Were you good for Hyeon?” You cooed as you nuzzled your daughter. Yoongi’s heart swelled at the sight, before standing up from his place on the floor. “She didn’t cause you too much trouble?”
He shook his head. “She was fine, really. Although, uh, there was a bit of fall out changing her diaper.” Glancing at his discarded hoodie in the hamper.
“Ah, I’ll clean that up for you. You can pick it up next time. That sound okay with you?” You said, casually.
Again, ignoring the deep instinct to deny you, telling him to leave you and your daughter alone, he nodded. Yoongi could not fathom why he was so drawn to your family, how kind and compassionate you were to him, even if you only spoke with him a few times. He knew better than to get too involved, but for some unknown reason he couldn’t stop himself.
These babysitting gigs continued on for the following months, each time growing closer and closer to you and Eunji. Before he knew it, he wasn’t even sure if these visits would even qualify as visits. You’d invited him to the zoo, to a children’s museum, to the beach, to a local pool. All under the guise of him supposed to be babysitting your darling daughter, but rarely did you leave him alone with Eunji, you were always there by his side. It wasn’t always going out though, there were days when you still needed him late to watch her, whilst you went out for some work dinner or meeting. But everytime you came back, you offered him to stay a while longer, have a beer or stay for dinner. Yoongi wasn’t an idiot, he knew why you would ask him to stay longer. It would be a bad idea to get any more involved with you than he already had. But each time without fail, he said yes.
His times with you felt like a dream compared to his real life. Each time he had to say goodbye to you, he was reminded of the life he truly lived. Yoongi was grateful for Hoseok being able to cover him, but each time he had to make up for it by doing the most brutal tasks. With blood on his hands, Yoongi’s mind would wander to you, how disgusted you would be at his true self. He could almost hear Eunji’s horrified screams at his bloodied state.
------- that’s all i had written ------
Overtime realizes that the reader likes him and hence why she calls him like every week just to watch baby for an hour and he’s like really awkward but he slowly catches feelings for her and is very protective of baby
One night she reads signals wrong and kisses him and is like “im so sorry i didn’t-” he cuts her off with a kiss “you’re okay” maybe they start making out and get busy, then baby starts crying and he’s like “i should go”
It's only hours later that he’s getting a call from the hospital that her house/apartment was set ablaze (enuji and reader are fine, because of smoke they had to go either way bc baby)
Yoongi slightly loses it, and goes over to the hospital and takes you to his home
Car ride is quiet to his house, when he explains everything, reader rightfully freaks out because he’s a mafia member, she trusted her baby with a literal killer and locks herself in his room and he’s like “okay”
He calls jungkook and he offers her the same thing he offered his boyfriend (now fiance bc he proposed) (be sure to congratulate them); she asks to think about it
For the next couple days, Reader stays with him because yoongi doesn’t want her to leave his sight
Reader stays in yoongi’s room, enjoys the smell of his sheets
Yoongi tells reader that if she wants to leave, he wants to go with her. He’ll leave the mafia behind, he’ll go straight. He just wants to be with her, he sees a life and a future with her, something he never thought he’d have the chance before
With baby in other room, maybe smut
Morning after he wakes up and she’s gone
Yoongi throws a fit because she’s gone, took the baby and left, not even a note. Yoongi blows up on jungkook for not telling him she had made the decision already, but he said “i can’t do this” and storms out.
Cut to a few years later. Yoongi has been long since out of the, ending up in ireland. He’s sitting along the coastline, enjoying the ocean air. When a toddler bounces over over to him
He’s rusty with his kid skills, but he’s like “woah, where is your mother?” bc another korean person in ireland is like ‘ayo?’ but theres something about this baby that looks familiar?
The baby’s mother runs up to him like ‘oh my goodness, im so sor-’ and low and behold its the reader! She looks different, hair color and length, as well as some aging, but he knows her. He always will. He wants to say something but another voice from another person interrupts. He stumbles over his words before realizing he needs to let her go. They can never be. So he says goodbye to little enuji and reader, for the last time
The end

My pairing problems with Gruvia and Juvia started up to 413 days. When I saw it all, even the Gray soap was incredibly uncomfortable. I started to analyze her behavior re-reading FT - I was just shocked at how wrong I was about Juvia and Gruvia. It wasn't funny, it's scary. Later, I wanted to give this couple a chance. Unfortunately the FT100yQ left me out of my mind when Gray swallowed Juvia and she got (I think) an orgasm in his mouth ... It looked like a scene s//x. Poor Gray.
I’m glad the 413 Days chapter/episode was the catalyst that opened the eyes of quite a few people to juvia’s unacceptable behavior, including yours! I could see how people could over look some of her actions leading up to it if they weren’t really scrutinizing her or just wrote it off as distasteful comedy, but 413 Days was just a blatant display of juvia’s lack of a brain and a heart and human decency.
Scary is just the word to describe her. If anyone were to put themselves into Gray’s shoes from just the 413 Days omake alone, I’m sure they’d realize just how unsettling it is to have a “lover” like juvia.
I respect your decision to want to give the pairing a second chance. I could see the pairing being forgivable if juvia repented and changed her ways and apologized to anyone she’s wronged and to back off, but unfortunately, knowing her true character, I doubt she ever will.
And absolutely, the scene where juvia literally org*sms in Gray’s mouth is just vomit-inducing. she has no boundaries, so willing to violate Gray without his permission and in public of all places, and even if one could make the argument that Gray and juvia “are a thing” in 100yq, being in a relationship DOES NOT MEAN you can do whatever you want (especially sexually) to your partner. It’s still r*pe if you don’t ask for consent.
Poor Gray indeed. My heart aches for him. He deserves so much better.
Thank you so much for your ask, Lucy! Really appreciate you sharing your story, and I’m sorry for the slow response!

Hiii, do you have any recs for Robin Jason comics? I'd love to read more about him but I have no clue where to start. Love your art btw it's all adorable <3
Sure thing!!! And omg thank you 🥺🥺 your art is super cute too!!
If I were to rec One Thing as a starting point for Robin Jason, Batman #408-#429 covers Jason’s main run as Robin and his death arc and is the main essential reading I’d recommend. It’s fairly short and a good place to start imo!
Among others, it includes his post-crisis origin and first outing as Robin, his first meeting with Dick, the Garzonas incident, and his death and its immediate aftermath in the Death in the Family arc.
Tumblr media
While Jason’s time as Robin in post crisis is fairly short and not as hard to get through as other characters with longer runs, i know Reading Comics Hard so I’ll make a shorter list first, with more recs under the cut!
Batman #408-#409 (Jason's origin)
Batman #410-#411 (his first outing as Robin)
Batman #413 (smart boy Jason)
Batman #415 (more good Jason moments)
Batman #416 (his and Dick's first meeting, also Dick and Bruce argue)
Batman Annual #12 (has a solo Jason story set at his school)
Detective Comics #569-#570 (Jason gets to kick the Joker's butt)
Detective Comics #571 (the Scarecrow kidnaps Jason)
Detective Comics #573 (this one’s just cute)
Superman Annual #11 (Bruce, Jason and Wonder Woman visit Superman on his birthday and stuff happens)
Blue Devil #19 (Jason is pen pals with Kid Devil)
Batman: the Cult (a 4-issue pretty dark miniseries where Bruce is kidnapped and brainwashed by a cult. Some great Jason moments)
Batman #424-#425 (The Garzonas storyline, or when Jason may or may not have pushed somebody off a building. Trigger warnings for sexual assault and suicide)
Batman #426-#429 (A Death in The Family, or Jason’s death arc)
I’ll be referencing this Jason reading list, since it’s what I followed when I started reading. It can be checked for a more comprehensive list of his appearances too, since I’m not aiming for a full list! (though I might edit it to include more stuff eventually.)
First things first, Jason got rebooted once during his time as Robin; he was originally a circus kid like Dick in pre-crisis (before the reboot), and later in post-crisis got his more well-known origin as the orphan who stole the tires off the batmobile. I’ll be focusing on post-crisis Robin Jason since I’m still reading his pre-crisis run, but the list I linked has more info on that if you’re interested!
Batman and Robin-focused
Tumblr media
Stories centered on the Dynamic Duo!
Batman #408-#429 - Jason’s post-crisis run as Robin, as mentioned above! The last four issues are the Death in the Family arc. The Batman: Second Chances trade collects a good chunk of these (#408-#416), plus Batman Annual #11 and a couple stories from before Jason’s post-crisis origin.
Detective Comics #568-#582 - Jason’s Robin run in Detective Comics! It’s a fun read and Alan Davis’ art style is very cute imo. (Jason isn’t around from #575 to #578 due to getting hurt in #573)
Batman Annual #10-#12 - More Batman and Robin stories. #12 has a Jason solo story set at his school!
Batman: the Cult - a 4-issue miniseries where Bruce is kidnapped and brainwashed by a cult. A pretty dark story and one of the last ones from before his death. Jason has some great moments in it!
Dc Retroactive: Batman - The 80s - Story from 2011 written by Mike Barr, who wrote Jason’s 80s Robin stories in Detective Comics!
Robin 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spetacular - One of the stories, More Time, is about Jason and Bruce and goes between the past (with Jason as Robin) and the present (with Jason as Red Hood). Short and very sweet!
Crossovers/Teamups
Tumblr media
In which Jason meets or teams up with other characters, with or without Batman!
Blue Devil #19 - Jason is pen pals with Eddie Bloomberg/Kid Devil and teams up with him!
Action Comics #556 + #594 - Jason meets Superman!
Superman Annual #11 - For The Man Who Has Everything, or where Jason goes with Bruce to Superman’s birthday, first meets Wonder Woman, and Stuff Happens. (Jason gets to be the hero!)
New Teen Titans V2 (1984) #18-#31 - Jason joins the Teen Titans for a while! It’s fun to see him in a team and his characterization here is really good imo. (this is the span of issues he appears in but he isn’t in all of them)
Legends (six-part miniseries) - A DC crossover event! Jason has short but great appearances (the time where he breaks his leg, but wants to get up and help anyway).
Nightwing Year One #101-#106 - A rewrite of Dick's Nightwing origin with occasional Jason appearances until #106, which is a retelling of their first meeting where they work together to rescue Alfred. While I have Issues with the characterization of Jason in this, it has some cute moments and I’d be remiss to not include the story that introduces Dick’s nickname of “Little Wing” for Jason.
After his Death
Tumblr media
Stuff dealing with the aftermath of Jason’s death and the impact it left on others. (Some of the stuff here is just listed for a single page or panel rather than a full story about Jason)
Batman #430-#432 + #496 - Bruce in the aftermath of Jason’s death.
Batman Annual #13 - Jason appears in a flashback.
The New Titans #55 - Dick and the Titans find out about Jason’s death, and Dick confronts Bruce about it.
Batman: Year Three + A Lonely Place of Dying - While these focus on Dick and Tim respectively, they’re set after Jason’s death and show how Bruce is dealing with it. Year Three is in Batman #436-#439 and A Lonely Place of Dying (Tim’s origin story) is in Batman #440/New Titans #60/Batman #441/New Titans #61/Batman #442, also included in reprints of Death in the Family.
Detective Comics #618 - Has a nice little moment of Tim looking up to Jason.
Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #100 - The issue is mainly a Dick origin story, but in the end there’s a sweet and sad story about Jason’s beginning and ending as Robin.
Nightwing Secret Files and Origins - On the first story, Taking Wing, Jason appears to Dick as a dream/hallucination while the latter is having a near-death experience and accompanies him through various of Dick’s memories.
Joker: Last Laugh #6 - The one time when, upon believing Tim was killed and being taunted with Jason’s death, Dick kills the Joker. (the full thing is a six-issue miniseries)
Nightwing (1996) #63 - The aftermath of Dick killing the Joker (though he was revived), but I’m mainly including this for the one panel that shows a picture of Dick and Jason on what seems to be a ski trip.
Batman: Gotham Knights #34 - At the end there’s a story called “The Delusions of Alfred Pennyworth” about Jason’s ghost and Alfred.
Batman: Gotham Knights #43-#45 - Has a flashback to a Barbara and Jason teamup and a recap of Jason’s death as a social worker looks into it and investigates Bruce’s family.
Detective Comics #790 - Bruce talks to Cass about Jason on the day of Jason’s birthday.
Robin V4 #85 - The story itself is about the Joker reflecting on the Robins and Jason only appears briefly, but I think it’s worthwile to include as it’s one of the few times where the involvement of Jason’s mother in his death is acknowledged after Death in the Family. (Also there’s a panel where Jason kicks the joker on the crotch)
Green Arrow V3 (2001) #7 - The one panel where Jason is shown swinging around in heaven :)
Alternate Universes/Other Media
Tumblr media
Some stuff that doesn’t fit anywhere else/isn’t quite comics/isn’t really canon, but I think is neat and wanted to include!
Letters - letters from readers sent during when Jason was Robin and after his death. They can be interesting to look through to get a sense of how he was seen by readers at the time (there’s even an eulogy by a clergyman!). The ones I’ve seen can be found in this tag, and this post links to a few too (as well as some other info regarding Jason and the vote that led to his death).
The Batman Files - A book that contains several files over various topics and characters across Batman’s history. Among other things, it has Jason’s death certificate. (mainly including this because early on I spent a while trying to find out how old he was when he died)
Tiny Titans #23, #29, #33, #39, #45, #47 - An adorable alternate universe comic in a kid-friendly setting! Jason’s design in it is very cute.
Batman The Brave and the Bold #13 - Jason and Robins from other points in time team up to save Batman!
Teen Titans Go! season 6, episode 17 (Egg Hunt) - He doesn’t actually appear, but Jason is namedropped and said to be Batman’s favorite Robin.
Batman And The New Robin (unmade cartoon) - An unproduced animated TV series from the late 80s that would have starred Bruce as Batman and Jason as Robin! Unfortunately the project was abandoned and the show was never made, but the full series bible is available to read in its entirety and a link to it can be found here! There’s a page on it on the Lost Media Wiki as well.

Writing Tag Game
Tagged by @crackinglamb Thank you, love. 😘💕
How many works do you have on AO3?
33
What’s your total AO3 word count?
141,859
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
A Way with Machines 539
Hot Summer Nights 413
Thank You, Monsieur DuPont 366
Spring Fever 299
Be Near Me 289
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
99% of the time, because it’s polite. The 1% I don’t is either because it’s not directed at me, it’s in a language I don’t know, or it’s really off-the-walls confusing (I apologize for that last one).
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
It’s extremely rare for me to write angst endings. I think the only one I have is  Even Though Our Love Is Doomed.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Uh... Well, considering I’m a hardcore fluff writer, almost all of them are happy. I’ll put my Beer and Benefits series here because it’s the only officially confirmed “happily ever after” plotline.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
No, but I won’t say never.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Unfortunately yes, and it almost made me stop writing for good. Everyone is allowed to have their opinions. If you don’t like a fic, you are welcome to close the tab without kudo or comment. Verbally assaulting me because you don’t like how one character is treating your favorite character when there’s 5 chapters left before the big reveal... Y’know what? It’s been a few years now, and I’m not going to be the bigger person about it anymore. To that commenter: Ma’am, you were an asshole, and you displayed the kind of behavior that perpetuates the negative stereotype of “bad fandom”. Don’t Like? Don’t Read. Learn it. Live it.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, I do. Mostly m/f, but I have written m/m, f/f, and a threesome. I’m not sure if any counts as PWP, because there’s always some plot involved. And I always try to be realistic as possible.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge, though I’ve twice had a plot directly ripped off. While there’s nothing new under the sun, it was pretty obvious. It’s polite to give a little shoutout or a thank-you to your inspirations, just sayin’.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don’t think so?? No one’s asked.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, with my beloved @crackinglamb. We've collaborated on Things We Can't Say (mostly my work) and A Wolf Named Vengeance (mostly her work and currently on hiatus). She says I’m responsible for a healthy chunk Twist, too. There’s also other fics out there that I have worked on with people, but I rather they get all the credit for their hard work when I haven’t contributed at least half.
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
In my writing? Deegan/f!SoSu Nora. In general? There’s too many to choose from. Pretty much any healthy relationship between two or more people who are strong enough to live alone but decided not to.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Hell Hath No Fury. So yeah, I misspoke earlier: I do have a crossover. I was planning on doing a Fallout 4/Doom crossover, wherein the Institute’s ongoing search for power sources leads them to accidentally open the portal to Hell. Probably would have been the only time I would’ve cast the Brotherhood of Steel in a (barely) positive light. Unfortunately before I could get the plot outlined, I suffered a mental breakdown and oxygen deprivation damage; most of my memory of it is gone.
What are your writing strengths?
Lamb says “fluff without cringe”. Action scenes and -- this is my surprised face -- realistic smut.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Lately, getting started. I personally think my smut isn’t very good. I’m also not very good with dialogue (there’s never enough) because I don’t talk much in real life.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Depends on the language. Fictional ones, provided there's a halfway decent and/or reputable source for translation, are fine. Real languages? I'm more leery if I don't speak them for the simple fact that I would hate to get it wrong. Real people speak real languages, they aren't a plot device.
Borrowing Lamb’s answer because this is exactly my thoughts on it, too.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Oh, you’re not going to trick me into giving away my old fic secrets. I’m on to you! Leave the dead buried. First posted on AO3, though, was Fruits Basket.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Mementoes. Aside from being very good in general, it was one of those very rare days that I was filled with the gift of the muses. It just flowed out of me over the course of a couple hours and was posted the next morning. It was a story that wanted to be told.
Tagging @st0nergh0ul @ranaspkillnarieth @the-desert-dancer @madangel19 @fiadhaisteach (I think I remember you saying you wrote fics) @lilbittymonster and anyone else who’d like to share.

hmm, interesting, so 5 minutes of Terezi time equals about 2 weeks of John time?
What’s the math on that, how many minutes are in a week? 10,080? Neat.
what’s that divided by 5? 2016?
so time is moving almost 2000 times faster for John than it is for Terezi?
a Day for Terezi is literally 5 and a half Years for John by that Math.
All of John’s conversations have been happening over the course of not even 2 full days for Terezi so far, and by John’s estimation that she only ever messages every year or so
that turns out to be like, every 260 minutes for Terezi?? If my math is correct? (525,600 minutes / 2016 = 260 minutes = 4.333... hours)
4 and 1/3 hours.
oh my god, Terezi and John talk literally every 4 hours and 20 minutes that’s hilarious they turned 413 into a 420 weed joke that’s amazing
I wonder if Terezi takes his convo’s seriously or just think it’s an extended prank that their both neck deep in at this point? I mean, they joke with eachother a lot and he literally messages her what seems from her point of view, literally every 4:20 (Trolls understand weed jokes because I said so and because it’s funny)
Does he ever send her pic’s of what they all look like as adults? Does she think it’s badly like, photoshopped or something like what she used to do with Dave?
Or does she really know? Either way is interesting to be honest
Wait, did Gamzee make out Jake’s/Jane’s son Tavros?? Why is John so nonchalant about that?
or is it a different Tavros???
I’m confused, or maybe not, John’s going straight into a line that says take Tavros away from his family. what the fuck is Gamzee doing.
So I guess this is what happens to all non canon timelines? They get torn to shreds by the inevitable cosmic background blender that is the giant black hole thing in Meat?
Oh god Jane made a crockership, yeah we’re in the nosedive of all of Jane’s unsavoury tendencies made manifest
we don’t need a tiara here, this was carefully manifested and nurtured to happen by another guy who all fell into the worst version of himself
Sad to see karkat and dave seperated too, but interesting karkat finally got fed enough enough to lead a resistance
this friend circle is really going down the shits
but then again, kind of was to be expected, i mean, it’s not like they were all actually friends, there wasn’t really much of an extended friend circle for the alpha kids. its a stretch to even say John and Jane were close friends because they didn’t really have much interaction with each other either
Jane and Jake is pretty much a lost cause, Dirk is dead and also encouraging her downfall, and Roxy is totally accepting of everything around her for better or worse, and Calliope and Jane were never close not to mention Calliope seems content to just follow Roxy everywhere
there’s literally no one actually close enough to Jane to have an actual “i care about you’re my friend” conversation with that would actually feel genuine, so it’s kind of inevitable she’d end up like this in this sort of situation with no one to help her steer her course
John’s getting desperate to feel some sense of reality again, that picture of Terezi is almost like an anchor in the storm
he’s only attached to his reality because of his personal investment into it, like he’s too deep in it now to ever escape, not because he really truly cares and is happy I think but because he’s put so much effort into making this all work
Also damn, he’s really gonna kidnap Tavros, but i mean like, I don’t blame him if apparently his sort of father clown figure has been making out with him as part of a religious cult nonsense i hope im interpreting that wrong but he literally says PBandJ again and says Tavros, so like, who else could he mean
Fake redemption nonsense finally going down the toilet where it belongs
but damn, John’s gonna start a war I can see it now, this is gonna pop Jane’s cork and for all we know she could easily use it as an excuse to attack trolls by blaming the kidnapping on them
You know what is so interesting about this though?
Jane was raised by the condesce, and feared alternian society like it was inherent to trollkind
but here she is displaying that same tyranny in the name of humanity, it does a good job of showing this bullshit isn’t inherent to any person or race
but man, it is ironic how much of a mini Condesce Jane is becoming, complete with her own Grand High Blood too, while fighting what she probably considers tyrannical trollkind
It’s cute how Harry talks in a lighter Roxier shade of blue though, unfortunately due to the name I can imagine anything except Harry Potter being their actual child, Harry Anderson as a figure means nothing to me even though I know the reference and the picture that shows up in Homestuck I get the joke
Maybe it’s because it’s also Roxy’s child and she always had a thing for wizards so
Tavros talking in a dark purple is less endearing, because it so clearly shows that despite supposedly being a product of love between Jane and Jake, Gamzee as a weird third interloper has entirely taken over this family
Gamzee being the auspistice for Jane and Jake doesn’t sound good. Weird that he’s seen as like an Uncle figure too. This family is messed up to hell.
mmm.. I don’t think Jake and Jane are in a kismesis...
*UPSETTING CHILD ABUSE CONTENT AHEAD*
I don’t like how uncomfortable Tavros seems to be with an uncle figure taking him up to his bedroom im getting all kinds of bad child abuse vibes, not from john god no but like, Tavros seems so expectant of something to happen and that’s not pairing well with what Gamzee has apparently been doing
“Tavros sighs, his facial expression unchanging. He looks resigned. To life in general, as well as whatever it is he’s expecting from this particular situation. Wait... what is he expecting from this situation, having been led away to a secluded part of the house by an adult? What has he been taught to expect?“
Tumblr media
I don’t like this. John please kidnap the child. Even though it’s going to start a war.
No I don’t like where this is going this is getting a big gigantic NOPE for me
Oh fuck okay, so it hasn’t happened yet, big relief there
but almost, still warning sirens going off in my head because
“JOHN: TRAIN you???
TAVROS: Yes,
TAVROS: In matters of combat,,, philosophy,,, life,,, love,,,
TAVROS: I suppose to behave the way a mentor does, as he sees it,,,”
WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT GAMZEE BEING A DIRK GAUGE
Is “Combat, Philosophy, Life, Love” just like symbolism for the four shitty ingredients of Lord English symbolically mixed together? Like yeah they don’t all sound bad when you put it that way but really it’s like
Combat = Physical Abuse = Caliborn
Philosophy = Religious Cult = Gamzee
Love = Obsession = Equius
Life = Dominance and Power = Dirk
Every shitty part of the LE soul combo contributes something bad to the whole
uh oh, they’ve been found out by Jade
Jade’s not exactly gonna throw him to the big bad wolf, but is she just gonna disagree with his actions? Or is she gonna try to stop him.
or argue? argue’s good, sure, not really but sure
Everyone knows Jane’s gone to shit, but everyone’s too cowardly to stand up to her and tell her she’s wrong
oh shit, speaking of
oh, well, that didn’t go how i wanted it to
John got so close to saying something that could break through to Jane, but Karkat was right, she couldn’t get her head out of her ass long enough to listen to what was being said to her, and instead immediately jump to conclusions about what she thinks people are talking about
she probably think everyone hates her suddenly because of her political ideas and thinks its ridiculous thats everyones getting so mad at her for it, head so far up the ass she should be turning into a fourth dimensional pretzel by now
even though this could have all have been avoided if someone just had enough bravery to nip it in the bud, so instead of angry raze the ground retaliatory action she could have just been embarassed and angry in the personal and then gotten over it in a few weeks
but nope, genocidal war in the works now
oof
just big oof
gotta say though, I’m sitting practically eating gigantic mounds of popcorn at the drama (Besides the one part that was implying gamzee was sexually abusing tavros before they made it clear he wasn’t, I could do without that one honestly)
other than that though, loving the drama, feel bad for the people getting the shit end of the sticks though

The Marriage Games (Ch.3)
Pairing: Prince! Tom Holland x Reader
Summary: (Y/N) (Y/L/N) grew up in the palace with her brother and the royals; her and her brother are practically apart of the royal family. The Queen decides to help her eldest son find his own queen by inviting ten female suitors to live in the palace. What happens when through this process he finds love with a woman that is not one of the contestants?
Word Count: 3 413
Disclaimer: This series is inspired by The Selection by Kiera Cass and Yellow Roses by @h-osterfield.
Warning: Sexual assault, swearing, and possible trigger warning.
A/N: I am sorry if this isn’t an accurate representation of being a victim, but this is how I think Y/N would handle a situation like this. To be honest, I am not very sure about this chapter, so depending on what you guys think, I might rewrite this chapter.
Tumblr media
Tom waits for Darcy by the front door, after they had finished golfing he had asked her if she would join him to go out for dinner. She said that she was pleased to go out with him. He was able to make a reservation at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay just like Y/N had recommended and now he couldn’t wait to head over there with Darcy; it’s one of Y/N’s favourite places to go for fancy events. Y/N walks down towards the front hallway wearing a black over the shoulder romper that was adorned with daisies. Her hair was perfectly curled and her neck bore the pearl necklace that she always wore. She’s wearing light gray ankle high Vans and a white over the shoulder clutch. “Wearing are you heading too?” Tom asks his friend who had positioned herself beside him to wait as well. Y/N looks at him and gives him a smile, “The boys and I are heading to a club, I’d ask you to join but I know you’re going out with Darcy. By the way, if you see Gordon, tell him thank you on my behalf for Yorkshire rhubarb soufflé that he sent over last week. I haven’t had a chance to see him, tell him that it was superb.” Tom tells that he’ll do that, but he was not capable of saying anything else because Darcy came towards him ready for their date. Her orange hair was curled nicely while the front pieces were pinned back. She wore a plain black dress with a white collar. Her fingers were adorned with multiple rings and her bull ring had a heart on it. Her perfectly polished leather boots were vastly different from the old worn out pairs that she wore when he first met her. Tom smiles at her and walks over to greet her, “You look lovely, Darcy.” Darcy mumbles a thank you and hooks her hand with his. They both say goodbye to Y/N and head off to the restaurant. A few minutes later, Sam, Harrison, Harry, and Georgy finally come and they head out to the club.
The restaurant was packed with well-known people and people of status, however, Tom had requested for them to have a separate room in order to not be bombarded with paparazzi. “You picked a really fancy restaurant,” Darcy comments as she lets Tom pull out her chair for her. She thanks him and he sits across from her. “I hope you don’t mind. If you don’t feel comfortable here, then I can see if we can make a reservation somewhere else. It’s just that this is Y/N favourite place to go for fancy events, and I thought that this would be a good place to go. I am sorry,” he rambles on, nervous that she was not happy with his choice. Darcy giggles at how cute he is and places her hand on top of his in a soothing way, “Tom, this places is fine. It’s very lovely. You don’t have to worry. So you and Y/N seem pretty close.” Tom smiles at the mention of his best friend before responding. “Yeah, we are. She’s my best friend. I trust her with my life and all my secrets. We have been through a lot together and she really means a lot to me,” Tom explains to Darcy as he glances over the menu. Darcy looks up from the menu, “Yeah, I get that. Back in Ireland, I have a best friend that I would also trust with my life. We helped each other through some tough times.”
“Thanks for the ride, Janson,” Y/N thanks the driver as her and the boys get out of the limo. The group walks into the club with booming music and dim lighting. The club was crowded with mostly drunk people, so nobody really recognized the group. Even though they were not immediately recognized, a group of bodyguards still had to disperse themselves all around the club and at a visible distance of each group member. “I am going to go get some drinks with Harrison. You guys okay with beer?” Georgy questions the boys and just as Y/N was about to interject, “Yes, I know you want a virgin Sex on the beach, sis. I have been living with you for your whole life.” Y/N just shuts her mouth and nods with the two other boys. Harrison and Georgy leave the group while the rest make their way to the dance floor. Y/N dances with Harry for a few songs and when her brother and other best friend return with the drinks, she starts dancing with Harrison because Harry and Sam have found other people to dance with. She could feel someone staring at her from behind and when she notices that a man was indeed doing so from the bar; she decides just to brush it off and turn her focus back to Harrison.
“I don’t believe the fish jumped out on its own,” Darcy laughs as she takes a sip from her glass. Tom finishes chewing whatever he was chewing before responding, “It did. If I had knocked it over the glass would have fallen and I would have said that, but I am serious the fish just jumped out of the tank. I had no idea what to do, so I just picked up the dead fish and put it back in the tank. When the president came back into the room and saw the dead fish, she asked me what happened and I just said that the fish was liked that when I came in. I feel bad to this day about lying, but I don’t think anyone would have believed me if I said that the fish jumped out.” Darcy chuckles at the cute story that she was just told. “Okay, my turn. The most embarrassing thing you have ever done during a private event. Like a gala or a charity event,” Tom questions the girl. The young adult thinks for a little bit then answers, “I accidentally ate a whole bunch of weed brownies at a charity event. It was a charity event that was raising money for cancer and they had some patients with cancer at the event. It was medicinal brownies for them and I didn’t know they had that, so when I snuck into the kitchen I ate a bunch. It was only a matter of time before I got as high as a cloud. The organizer of the event was making a speech and I went on the stage, took the microphone, and started singing row row row your boat.” Tom could not stop laughing at the very unfortunate event that had happened to her. “That really does sound embarrassing! What happened next?” He urges on.
“I am going to go get another drink. Did you want anything?” Y/N questions Harrison as she slowly starts making her way towards the boy. Harrison shakes his head and starts awkwardly dancing by himself. Y/N squeezes through the crowded club and finally makes her way to the bar. “Can I please get a Shirley Temple?” Y/N asks the bartender who nods his head and gets to making the drink. Y/N messes around on her phone while she waited for the bartender to make her drink. Once she finally got her drink, she hands it to her brother who had come to join her so that she can go to the bathroom. She makes her way to the bathroom and she was quite surprised when she saw the man staring at her from before waiting in front of the women’s bathroom. “Excuse me,” she mutters as she tries to make her way around him, but he doesn’t move. She says excuse me a little bit louder and tries to maneuver around him one more time. However, he just keeps staring at her and that made her feel a little uneasy. “You are really pretty, you know. How about you come over to my place and I can show you a better time than those guys,” the man whispers in her ear. He was so close to her that she can smell the alcohol on his breath and she was absolutely disgusted. As he gets closer to her, she shoves him away from her, “I don’t want to go anywhere with you, jackass.” He was far enough from her so that she can run off towards one of the many security that they brought.
Y/N didn’t get that far away from him because of the fact that it was hard to move in the crowded club. The man grabs on to her wrist and starts pulling her towards the handicap bathroom. She wonders why none of the security guards or her brother had noticed what was happening, and all she can feel is fear in her chest. The young woman tries to wiggle her way out of his hands and screaming at the top of her lungs, but she was unsuccessful because of the loud music and he just slaps his filthy hand on top of her mouth. She bites his hand as hard as she could, but he doesn’t even much flinch. She feels tears start to form in her eyes as he forcefully pulls her into the bathroom. He slams her against the wall and mumbles into her ear, “Now, be quiet and let me finish my business. She is not done putting up a fight, so she starts thrashing and kicking as hard as she could but he doesn’t even react. Y/N lets the tears run down her face as she continues to struggle against him. The man harshly pulls down the top of her romper and she can feel her necklace being ripped off.  He had gotten the romper to around her waist and she had tears streaming down her face when the door of the bathroom is kicked off its hinges and several security guards flood into the bathroom. Her coarse throat lets out a sigh of relief while the guards pull the lad off of her and put him against the wall.
Y/N is still in tears as she slides down on to the floor and picks up her broken necklace. The guards try to get her up, but she wouldn’t let them touch her. It only took a minute for the four boys to come rushing in to console her. Georgy kneels beside his sister and brings her close to him. He runs his hands gently through her hair and whispers sweetly into her ear, “It’s going to be okay. We got you. He can’t hurt you anymore.” She couldn’t say anything at all. All she could do is bury her head into her neck and let the tears out. Harrison takes off his sweater and hands it over to Georgy so that he can place it over his sister’s almost nude body. She’s shivering out of fear and the boys hated themselves for letting it happen. Georgy stands up with his sister still in his arms and the group makes their way out of the club. By now the music had stop and the crowd had made a path towards the entrance by order of the Royal Guards. The club no longer had this exciting vibe, but a sombre one as everyone watches the Royals make their way out of the club. When they got into the limo, Y/N is still crying her eyes out and she is surprised that she still had enough tears left in her. “You are okay, sis. I promise nobody is going to hurt you. The guards have him and he can’t hurt you anymore,” Georgy comforts his sister. All she can do is nod her head in close her eyes to try and get some sleep to heal the headache that has formed.
Tom walks down the street with his hand in his pockets and Darcy walks beside him with her arm hooked with his. They had just finished dinner and were now having a peaceful walk around town just talking about everything and anything. Their conversation is interpreted by the ringing of Tom’s phone. “I am so sorry, I have to take this,” Tom informs her while putting a little distance between the two of them. Tom takes out his phone and answers it, “Hey, Harry. Is everything, okay?” Harry clears his throat and once he speaks, Tom can immediately hear the worry in his brother’s voice. “Tom, it’s Y/N. A man sexually assaulted her and she won’t talk to us. She won’t let anyone into her room and we are worried about her. Georgy is freaking out and we really need you to come. Please, we can hear her crying and it’s tearing us apart that we can’t do anything.” Tom’s face feels his smile drop and he quickly reassures his brother that he’ll be there as fast as he could. He ends his call and quickly makes his way over to Darcy, “We have to go. Something happened to Y/N and she needs me. I am so sorry.” Darcy nods in understanding and the two of them make their way over to Tom’s car.
As soon as Tom got home, he ran as fast as he could to Y/N’s room because he hated the thought of her being sad and alone. Once he was in front of the door, he gently knocks on the door and announces that he was coming in, but the door was locked and that frustrated him. Y/N slowly gets out of the bed at the sound of her best friend and makes her way to the door. Y/N slowly opens the door from him and he quickly brings her into a hug. She immediately breaks down into his arms. Tom caresses her hair and leaves a gentle kiss to the temple of her head whilst he moves them towards her bed where Tessa sat on.  “Hey, you’re okay. I won’t let anyone ever touch you like that again, I promise. You’re okay, just let it all out, love,” he reassures her as he rubs her back. She looks up at him and wipes her tears, “I was so scared. I kept thinking this couldn’t be happening that there were several security guards that would stop this, but he was still able to touch me. Tommy, he hurt me and now I don’t think I can ever go out again. I am so scared that this isn’t over that somehow it’s going to happen again. I felt so weak and I never want to feel like that again.” Tom’s heart breaks when he hears just how she felt and he vows that he’ll make sure that he will do whatever he can to make sure no girl will ever feel like that again. “I am going to make sure that you and any other girl feel that way again. I promise. How about we head to bed? Tomorrow, I promise that we will get everything sorted out so that you never have to feel that way again,” Tom promises her. Y/N nods her head in agreement as she wipes her tears away and starts getting ready for bed. Tom left the room for a few minutes so that he could get ready for bed.
Y/N had finished getting ready for bed before Tom had returned, so she settles herself into the bed and cuddles up next to Tessa. Tom came into the room and he was relieved that she was finally able to stop crying. He makes his way over to the bed and lies down beside her. She shuffles her way closer to him and lies her head on to his chest. She closes her eyes and lets herself fall asleep. In the middle of the night, Tom wakes up to the sound of Y/N’s whimpers. He gently shakes her awake and tells her that she is okay. All she can do is nod her head and head back to sleep. In the morning, Y/N went about her business like nothing had happened and Tom is concerned. “Y/N, you know it’s okay to be scared. If you want to cry, then cry but you have to let it out and you have to tell us what you are thinking,” Tom begs knowing that she is probably hiding her true emotions. She puts on her shoes and looks over her shoulder to him, “I am fine, Tom. I just want to make sure that nobody will ever have to go through that. Now, leave me alone. I need some time alone.” Tom sighs knowing exactly what was happening. She was shutting everyone out just so that she can prove to everyone that she was strong even after last night’s events. “Y/N, please don’t shut us out. You can talk about what happened, it doesn’t make you weak if you feel something. You need to talk to us,” Tom frets over her. Y/N just puts a smile on her face and tells him that she is fine. “Tommy, I just have a lot of things to do. Can you please let me get my business done,” she answers him.
“Mum, I am worried about her. Last night all she could do was cry and now today all she wants to do is pretend that nothing happened. I don’t know what to do,” he confides to his mother. “Tom, what happened to her last night terrified to the core. You know that’s how she gets when she is terrified. Remember when Georgy got shot, how when she first learned about what happened, all she could do was cry. Then the next day, she pretended like everything was normal. That’s how she processes things and we can’t do anything to change it. I am worried about her as well, but we can’t do anything about how she heals. We can’t do anything else unless she asks us to,” Nikki advises her son. Tom sighs and takes a sip out of his teacup, “I know you are right, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t hurt the son of the bitch that did this to her.” Nikki nods her head in understanding of what he felt because she too was going to make sure that the bastard could never touch her daughter again. “Good morning, love. How are you?” Nikki questions Y/N who had just walked into the room. “I am fine, thanks for asking. I just thought up a new project and I am going to run it by Dom. Hopefully, he will give me some funding for it today,” Y/N tells her mother as she takes a bite out of Tom’s toast and quickly makes her way to Dom’s office.
“I want to make sure that no other girl has to feel how I felt in that moment, but I don’t know exactly what I can do. So, for now, I want to start a support group for victims of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and rapist. I haven’t really worked out the logistics yet, but people to have a place where they feel safe. We can do fundraisers and brainstorm different ways that we could prevent these horrible events from happening. I know you probably can’t give me a lot of money because of the fact that I don’t have anything planned yet, but anything you can give me to kick starts the program would be great,” Y/N finishes pitching her idea to the board members and Dom. Dom smiles at her with a proud look on his face, “I think this is a great start, Y/N. I am so proud that you’d rather help other people rather than exact violent revenge on your assault. I would be glad to give you a quarter million pounds, once you figure out exactly what you want to do and once you have found people to help you out. I want to assure you that one thing that I have already done to make sure this never happens to you again is I have fired all of the irresponsible security guards that were on the scene of the crime.” Y/N nods her head and there was a small smile on her face, “Thank you so much for the money. I’ll go start a plan right away.” Y/N says her goodbyes and quickly makes her way to her office so that she can start planning.

Pop Lock Memphis Tn 901-413-5370 Keys Locked In Car Service
Amy's Cheap Lock Poppers "We'll Pop A Lock On A Car!!
Memphis-Germantown-Cordova-Bartlett-Collierville-Locksmith
When we lock our keys in our car or truck it's a frustrating experience but we know that all we can do usually is to try to pop the lock our self, try to find someone else that can pop the lock, maybe go to a local store to find a pop a lock kit it that's possible.Or we can look online for a pop lock service that can unlock the car door. While there are some cars and trucks that may be opened with a metal coat hanger or even sometimes a shoestring. These methods may work on usually an older model car or truck or even a van but the truth is on most of the cars that are in use today these methods simply do not work. There are videos online that show how to get in some cars and even some trucks but unfortunately on many vehicles these methods just don't work. This is because almost all car makers decided that they do not want your vehicle made by them to be easily broken into so they have made even the simplest car door lock much harder to unlock without the car key. This means that on most cars and trucks you'll have to call a car unlocking service to come out and pop the lock or you'll need to call a local locksmith near you to pop the lock. Some towing companies might be able to pop a car lock but depending on the car they may be unsuccessful at getting your car door unlocked. In many places the police don't like to open cars like they did in the past.No one wants to be responsible for damaging the lock on your car door.
Years ago many cars would come with the old pop up locks. These locks had long stems that stood above the door panels inside the car and they came on cars like oldsmobiles, cheverlet models, ford models, dodge models and others.During those days a coat hanger would always do the trick as well as a shoestring or even a shoe lace. There are still a few vehicles that can be unlocked this way but nowadays even vehicles with pop up type locks are more reccessed into the door panel meaning there is actually not much to grab hold of to pull the lock button up to unlock the vehicle.Coat hangers and shoe strings just slide right off.
There was a time that many people would get a slim jim and unlock their own cars but the car makers have added features to prevent using slim jims on most vehicles in fact if you don't know what you are doing you could cause considerable damage inside the door panel.Calling a locksmith to pop the lock is probably the best option if the keys are locked in the car.
Visit: https://poplocknearme.com Memphis Tn Amy's Cheap Lock Poppers providing pop a car lock service in Memphis Tn Collierville Germantown Bartlett Cordova Tn Midtown Downtown Hickory Hill Locksmith Near Me Service In Memphis Tennesee and Shelby County.
Some people have purchased pop a lock kits or car lockout kits but there are many people that will tell you that depending on the kind of vehicle you are attempting to open, even having a pop lock kit may not work because untrained people don't have a working knowledge of the lock mechanism as many many people have discovered. Some power locks de-activate with the keys locked in the car so pushing or pressing the lock button with a pop lock tool may not unlock the car and this is the case on many vehicles.Which means in cases like these, you'll end up calling a local locksmith to pop your lock even after you have purchased a car lock out tool.

Most folks value compassion and agree that it's important both in our own lives also as in society more generally. Undeniably, compassion is additionally a part of our everyday experience of being human. We love and look after our children; confronted with a person in pain, we instinctively pity them; when someone reaches out and touches us during a season of pain we feel connected. Most folks would also wholeheartedly agree that compassion has something to try to integrate with the essence of what it means to steer an honest life. So it’s no small coincidence that compassion seems to be the footing where the moral teachings of all major traditions, religious and humanistic, begin and end.
Even within the contested political sphere, compassion is one value that each side of the range or spectrum is wanting to claim. Even though we have widely shared beliefs and experiences about compassion, we fail to offer it a central role in our lives and in our society. In our contemporary culture, we tend to possess a rather confusing relationship with values like kindness and compassion.
In the secular West, we sometimes lack a consistent cultural framework for articulating what compassion is and the way it works. To some people, it’s a matter of faith and morality, a personal concern of each individual with little or no societal relevance. Others question the very possibility of selflessness for humans and are very suspicious of sentiments like compassion that produce other people’s welfare because of the primary concern. As scientist Michael Ghiselin once remarked, “Scratch an altruist and watch a hypocrite bleed.”
At the opposite extreme, some folks elevate these qualities to such heights that they're way out of the reach for many folks, possible just for rare individuals like Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King jr., Dorthey Day, Gandhi, and Thich Nhat Hanh. With this view, compassion becomes something that is admired from a distance in great and exalted beings, but not relevant or practical to our everyday lives.
Broadly defined, compassion may be a sense of concern that arises once we are confronted with another’s suffering and feel motivated to ascertain that suffering relieved. The English word for compassion, comes from its Latin root, literally meaning ‘to suffer with’. Consistent with what religious historian and ex-nun Karen Armstrong has defined, the word for compassion as found in Semitic languages (rahamanut in Hebrew and in Arabic: rahman) is etymologically associated with the word for womb, evoking the mother’s love for her child as a prototypical expression of our compassion. At its core, compassion may be a reaction to the inevitable reality of our human condition—our experience of pain and sorrow.
Compassion offers the likelihood of responding to suffering with understanding, kindness, and patience, instead of, fear and repulsion. As such, compassion lets us open ourselves to the truth of suffering and to seek its alleviation. Compassion is what connects the sensation of empathy to acts of generosity, kindness, and other expressions of our altruistic tendencies.
When compassion arises in us within the face of need or suffering, three things happen almost instantaneously:
We perceive the other’s suffering or need.
We emotionally connect with the need or suffering.
We respond instinctively by wishing to ascertain that situation relieved.
Compassion may cause action; it's a readiness to assist or to require to try something ourselves about another person’s situation. Today, scientists are starting to map the neurobiological basis of compassion and explore its deep evolutionary roots.
As a society, we've long ignored the elemental role our compassion instinct plays in defining our nature and behavior. we've bought into a well-liked narrative that seeks to elucidate all our behavior through the prism of competition and self-interest.
This is the story we've been telling about ourselves.
The thing is, a few stories like this, often tend to be self-fulfilling. When our story says that we are at the bottom selfish and aggressive creatures, we assume that each man is for himself. during this ‘dog eat dog world.’ It's only logical, then, to ascertain others as a source of rivalry and antagonism. We then relate to others with apprehension, fear, and suspicion, rather than with sympathy and a way of connection. In sharp contrast to this, if our story says that we are social creatures endowed with instincts for compassion and kindness, which as deeply interdependent beings our welfare is intertwined, this totally changes the way we view – and behave in – the planet. therefore the stories we tell about ourselves do matter, quite profoundly so.

From Rouge to Noir
A/n: errr anyone up for a neighbors/soul mates/pen pals au?
Ch 1: Greetings
It's been a long time since she's felt any sort of expectation. Her circumstances have always been vaguely defined things. Nothing set in stone or with clear direction.
In her career. In her love life. In her friendships. There are very few things that can cling onto Marinette when she drifts as aimlessly as the fallen orange leaves do in the puddles that form in the street below. Even the little bit of wonder the world has blessed her with...a Soulmate’s first words...are vague. The letters curl in a messy scrawl across her slim wrist. Annoyingly lacking in detail. (At least they’re easy to hide underneath the red ribbon she always wears.)
The word “Hi” has nearly given her a heart attack on more than one occasion. So she's learned to stop hoping and has accepted that her Blessing, as the old ladies in her knitting club like to call it, is nothing to be excited about.
She also learned to approach life with that same level of expectation. She's learned to find contentment in routine. In the everyday humdrum.
So a change in said routine causes more discomfort than she would like to admit. Said change is brought about today with the arrival of a noisy white moving truck.
“Oh god. There goes my peaceful existence.” She says, rubbing absently at her mark. She stares out of her window, a little peeved as she watches the movers slowly empty the back of the truck.
She's keenly observed that so far, there's been a nice set of leather couches. A very Spartan bed frame in black wood. A really, really nice flat screen TV. And then assorted cleanly structured tables and lamps being carried up.
The day has devolved into a light drizzle, and she knows with certainty that all those nice things will be kept safe and dry in the apartment to the left of hers.
She can already hear the loud trudging up the stairs. (The elevator has a tendency to shudder horrifically when loaded up with furniture.) She laments that her blessed quiet existence is going to be interrupted, because her gut feeling is that this new neighbor is going to be a lot of ruckus.
So with her curiosity quenched for now, she heaves a sigh and plops herself back onto her little bed that is littered with fabric samples and torn out sketches of designs that don't quite please her artistic senses.
By the time the sun has begun to set, and she can see the pearly gray clouds tinged pink and orange against Paris, the moving-in noises have stopped. But it’s not their absence that gets her attention. It's the scrabbling noise at her window, the window set behind the old rusty fire escape.
The rain is still going and there's a woeful meow as a black cat begs to be let in.
And despite her better judgement, she lets him in.
The poor thing is wet and stares at her with wide, pretty green eyes.
It's now stretched out in front of her mini heater, purring loudly as she keeps working on her ideas.
“Shh. You're not allowed here...so please be quiet.” She says absently, but the cat keeps purring.
“You're going out in the morning. You're not even supposed to be in the building.” She says matter of factly, and the cat merely leaps up onto her bed, settling itself on all the fabric samples and rubbing it's head against her gray sweats.
“I'm not changing my mind.” She says quietly, wondering if this cat belongs to the new neighbor.
And her slight ire at the inconvenience is made worse by the suddenly loud bass that shakes her shared wall and the muffled strains of club music cross over into her little apartment.
“Great. Probably some rich entitled university students with a penchant for parties.” She mutters.
She rises with a growl, her lazy Sunday now ruined by her new neighbor and a cat.
Here's the thing about Marinette. She's a little passive aggressive. Entirely a sweet person to those who are considerate. She hates confrontation, and has been burned in the past by her share of horrible neighbors. In fact, she’d had to move to this complex after her noise complaints about her neighbor had gone unaddressed and it was discovered that the man had been hoarding pigeons in the apartment.
The resulting argument had lead to a few peckings by his feathery friends and a premature termination of her lease.
So she reserves her arguments for the written word.
Her letter is riddled with holes from where her pen had accidently punched through with the vigor and speed of her writing.
To whom it may concern
She shakes her head and scratches that out. Too professional.
Hey assh-
Too mean, even if his etiquette is lacking, doesn't mean hers should be. So she scratches that out and writes again on the same paper.
“Hello new neighbor,
Welcome to the building. In an effort to start off on the right note, I've decided to warn you about several things.
Mdme. Renaud takes complaints seriously. So I would advise lowering the volume on your music.
Pets aren't allowed in the building. I'm not going to say anything, but you'd be advised to take care.
The walls are thin, and I'm pretty sure your bedroom shares a wall with mine. I don't want to make assumptions, but please keep your volume, regardless of activities, low
Just a few tips, but I hope we can be good neighbors and that you find living here to be as peaceful as I do.
Sincerely,
Your new neighbor.”
She quietly shuffles out in her rabbit slippers into the empty hallway. By the time she's gathered the necessary amounts of annoyance and piled it into something vaguely shaped like motivation, the apartment is eerily silent.
She stifles a sigh of frustration, before taping her note onto the door.
Her eyes narrow a bit at the number in golden numbers that hangs just above the peephole
“413. So unlucky.” She shakes her head, and shuffles tiredly back into her apartment.
She decides to call it a night. Its not as if her work has any tangible deadline. Just the one that she sets in her own mind, the one that she keeps moving out of reach because she's not ready yet. Never ready.
The cat seems to understand her frustration, and while it butts it's head against her hand, it doesn't curl up next to her on the bed as she sleeps.
It simply stretches out near the quietly humming heater, that and the falling rain against her window are the only sounds she can hear now.
She doesn't know if she's grateful for that or just lonely.
---
The morning is a blur of activity. She'd gotten up a little late, on the third alarm to be exact.
She spends few minutes trying to shoo out the cat through the window and onto the fire escape. The day is sunny, save for a few clouds and that alleviates some of the guilt she feels when it finally steps out sedately, giving her an accusatory look.
“It's not my fault. It's in the contract.” Marinette explains, only to be met with a cynical green gaze as the cat finally traipses off onto the fire escape and makes its way down the stairs with indifference.
She rolls her eyes and finally sticks her head back inside, idly brushing off the lingering black cat hairs that had stuck to her sweats.
She gives one last melancholy look at the fabric samples and sketches now piled on her night stand, before dressing for the day.
She skips a wholesome breakfast, instead letting half a croissant dangle from her mouth as she ties off the black ribbon on the collar of her red blouse.
Red is her good luck color, and while she's still waiting on the courage to make her dreams a reality, she thinks a little luck can't hurt.
Still, her luck doesn't seem to be panning out much when she opens her door, and the annoying flapping of a paper catches her attention.
There's a note taped to her door, written in black permanent marker that bleeds so terribly through the page.
“Hi. Thanks new neighbor.”
There's a small, indistinguishable doodle on the bottom that she guesses is supposed to be a happy caricature of the author of said note. Unfortunately, the ink has spread and the messy splotches all over the page make this all an eyesore.
She flips over the paper just to make sure there's nothing else to read and gives a cry of dismay when she sees that the ink has gone through and stained the door. She can see the stupid little winking figure printed boldly onto the pale wood.
There's no way she's getting her deposit back in full.

Fuerteventura. Sun, sea & sand. Pt 2.
Written by Rosie
If staying in one place isn’t for you there are plenty of car hire places around Caleta, but it’s worth noting that some can come with hidden fees. Asking a receptionist at a hotel, for example, can be handy as they have local knowledge of the better (and cheaper) companies to hire from. One car hire for a full 24 hours cost me a mere £30 and I was asked to return the Vauxhall Corsa with the same amount of fuel that I had received it with. But I was told I could go anywhere on the island except for Cofete. More on this later...
Puerto Del Rosario is north of the airport and an easy drive to reach. As Fuertaventura’s capital it can be very busy and not many tourists can be seen in the centre compared to other towns. A number of chain shops, food outlets and unique to the island places can be a great location to pick up some more interesting souvenirs and the bonus is that parking around the island is completely free, so there is no rush to hurry your shopping!
Hiring a different car we decide to upgrade to a 4x4 (with some unfortunate hidden fees as we had booked online). Happily, we were given not the SUV that was advertised, but a Mitsubishi Outlander which had a little more off-road capability. Deciding one day to take a tour of the island, we started off by heading south.
Taking a detour from Casillas De Morales to Tiscamanita I tired some off-roading which was actually more of a real road as most of the tarmac roads are relatively new due to the tourist trade. It’s worth remembering that some hire companies don’t cover driving off tarmac roads, so its always worth asking before you go. The local roads tend to be little more than a trail in the dust and we followed one rocky road that would lead us past some inactive volcanoes. It was at this point I found that my travelling companions didn’t like being away from the tarmac which caused some upset. Whoops! But the views were worth it.
Tumblr media
It needs to be noted that such roads can be very rough to drive over, and unless you are a driver that has done such driving in the past, has lots of experience and is a confident diver, these roads are not recommended as getting stuck in a hire car can probably land you with a big fine from the rental company!
Finally crawling our way up the last slope we reached tarmac (which left my travel companions relived) and we head through Tuinje, past Tarajelejo and the Oasis Wildlife Zoo at La Lajita and through Costa Calma. Costa Calma is another popular tourist town, but the drive from the airport directly down the highway can be quite long and the locals can be quite speedy trying to avoid the tourists which can lead to some hairy moments! A transfer coach or taxi is definitely recommended if you don’t want to drive on holiday.
Sadly we didn’t stop at Jandia on our journey around the island as I had been told that Jandia has some of the best natural beaches around the island and that Playa de Sotavento de Jandia is very popular.
Driving past a few more towns we finally hit Morro Jable and parked up, stretching our legs and taking a little walk around. Talking only a brief walk to the beach at Punta del Matorral O de Morro Jable we found a few windsurfers but as the wind was good for them, it kicked sand up from the beach so it wasn’t long before we returned to the car. Carefully following both the road and the sat-nav, we finally found the sign we had been looking for just off the FV-2 highway. Cofete. This car hire company had said nothing about the mysterious place, so we thought we’d give it a shot.
Oh my. The tarmac road quickly gave way to more loose rocks, the kind you find lining railways. The car slid on corners and some locals, or those braver than I, overtook us and tootled along at a happy 25+ mph. If I recall, we stuck at about 15mph to be on the safe side and occasionally slowed to 5mph on some of the sharper turns. The views of the sea on our left were almost unreal. A deep blue sparkled as far as the eye could see and the air con in the car was most welcomed as the sun blazed down on our car. Reaching a junction there were two options, continue west to pass Puerto de la Cruz and reach the tip of the island where sits nothing but a lighthouse and unspoilt views, or turn north toward Cofete. We went north. A steady ride and a snake of a road twisted up the mounts with few barriers continued until we reached the mountain pass at Punto de Vista sobre Puerto de Montaña and I decided to take a quick selfie. I wasn’t expecting the monstrous winds that whipped fiercely through the pass though! I could barely stand at the little car park and my friends laughed as they sat comfortably in the car. The views over the North Atlantic from the towering mountains may have been impressive but they were just as nice to experience through the car window.
If I thought the drive to that point was awkward, I was in for a shock. With the mountains on one side and steep cliffs to the other, I hugged to the mountain wall on my right and dared not to glance at the severe drop just feet away from the car. Oncoming traffic in the distance was easily seen snaking its way around the road and several times we stopped and waited for them to pass us. I dread to think of trying to squeeze past one another on a more narrow stretch or worse having to reverse to a safer spot. Finally levelling out we arrived in Cofete. A shanty town filled with locals relying on their own little community rather than driving into the town and cities constantly.
There is one small cafe in the village that takes cash only and I presume they have toilets but I cannot be certain as we didn’t visit the cafe. Instead, we had packed a small picnic to take with us as we were unsure about finding somewhere to eat, and luckily we have strong bladders!
Parking up by the beach we grabbed our belongings and headed for the water but one small curiosity caught my eye. A cemetery on the beach! (Pictured below) Cementerio del Cofete is mostly hidden under small sand dunes but its a small, quiet place nonetheless.
Tumblr media
If you are not driving, there is also a fairly frequent bus that runs from Morro Jable to Cofete and stops at the car park near the cemetery. There was also a regular 4x4 convoy of white Land Rovers that accessed the village and I believe they are part of a tourist day trip. So it’s worth keeping an eye out for that!
The beach itself spans for miles and slips away from the mountains into the North Atlantic. It's certainly not a spot for swimmers as the waves unbuffered can be quite large and strong. Paddling in the shallows as the water laps the beach is welcomed enough and the beach is a perfect place for sunbathing provided you have good sunscreen applied. Being such a difficult place to arrive at, we found the beach had barely anybody on it and we sat alone for hours enjoying the sun and sea. With the beach facing out to the west, I can only imagine watching the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean, but the thought of driving back to Morro Jable along the Cofete road at night is not for the faint-hearted.
Tumblr media
A little history lesson: Villa Winter (pictured in the distance in the photo below) sits on the mountain slopes above Cofete and was built by a German engineer during WW2 and some of the 'roads’ around Cofete were laid then too. Some conspiracy theories state that with Fuertaventura being so close to both the African coast and Spain, it made a prime spot for Nazi boats and that the engineer responsible for the building was a sympathiser. It is easy enough to walk or drive to the villa, but as we were unsure if it was a residence we decided to politely keep our distance.
Tumblr media
Returning back from the beach we had unfortunately found the mid-day sun to have baked the sand and we ended up doing some peculiar towel-hopping and running across the beach as we had left our shoes in the car! The drive back along the mountain road was no different and with the sharp drop now on ‘my side’ of the road, I had opted again to wait at a few passing places and have the more experienced bus drivers and excursion groups pass me than trying to slip past one another in tighter spots. Finally reaching beautiful smooth tarmac one more, we took the scenic route back to our apartment turning north at Costa Calma through La Pared and along the FV-605.
Here I would also like to mention a very worthy place to visit via car. Among the mountains on the FV-605 road itself as it meets the FV-618 you will find at a small lay-by. Parking here you can hike the steady climb up the mountain top to Mirador Astronónomico, a natural observatory! In the day it offers wonderful views over the sun-baked mountains and at night you can read star maps etched into the stone-work and on information boards. It’s an easy enough place to reach on foot but trainers or other footwear (not flip-flops and sandals) are recommended. Eagerly studying the weather I found a night where no clouds were in the sky and one friend and I (the other opted to stay behind) drove at midnight to the observatory. Sadly the weather is a fickle thing and we saw nothing aside from clouds sailing through the darkness. Next visit to the island we will try again!
Continuing on past Pájara, Tuineje again and on the highway this time to Tiscamanita we stopped eventually at Antigua and took a walk around. Wanting to see a typical Spanish church we tired the doors of Iglesia de Nuestra Señora but found them locked and realised that it was siesta time. Grabbing a quick Spanish style lunch at one of the few open bars (sadly I can’t recall which) we then headed back down the FV-413 to Caleta De Fuste. An avid traveller could drive the entire island in a day, but to take in all the sights would be a very hasty stop at each location.
Another day we deiced to take the road north to Corralejo which we found more of a cooler climate than the south of the island. Coming up the FV-1A highway we passed through Paque Natural de Corralejo, the natural sand dunes. While being an extremely scenic spot and convenient to pull over at the roadside for some snaps, it seemed all the other tourists had the same idea and hordes of people stood around taking group photos, selfies and photos of the sand dunes themselves. We didn’t stop.
Most of the Corralejo is centred around the docks and there are lots of places to eat and shop. My favourite being Cebra Culture located at The Bell Tower, Local 44, 35660, which is filled with some beautiful bohemian pieces of clothing and accessories. They also have a shop in Puerto del Rosario. Walking the streets and taking in the local culture we hopped back in the car and drove past a spectacular sight: Volcano Bayuyo. We put it to a vote if we should take the half-hour to one hour climb to the top but we decided that we were too exhausted from that days antics and we would try it another time.
All in all, Fuerteventura is a wonderful island, with plenty of beaches and things to do all year round, fantastic scenery and it features lots of great nightlife and a friendly atmosphere as well.
------
Pros: The island is an UNESCO nature reserve, constant pleasant winds that cool the air, lots of beaches, great scenery, plenty to do.
Cons: Can get very quickly sunburnt without realising, can get very busy with tourists, not a lot of easily sign-posted public transport, hardly any English speakers outside the main tourist areas.

in regards to that fanfic prompt idea thing you reblogged I wanna request number 9 with Bucky
9. I am the museum curator and you can’t sleep inside the exhibit!! Stop moving the displays around at night for fun
A/N: I went a little overboard. This follows Bucky right after he goes to the Smithsonian.
1, 413 words
“It’s midnight, can you chill?” (Y/N) ranted pitifully into the dark, hoping that whatever or whoever was making the ruckus would stop. She reluctantly wished that the museum was haunted instead of being raided by an actual human and she shuttered at the thought.
This was third night in a row that she’d sat in the museum waiting to catch a glimpse of the thing that was causing her, and her exhibits, distress. Patrons had been coming to her and complaining about rearranged displays for the past week, each seeming slightly more upset than the last. All she could really do was give open-ended promises to fix the issue and reset them.
“If you wanna talk, we can talk,” she yawned to the void, the amount of time she’d been working was taking a toll on her, “I want to know what page you’re on, dude.” Her lower lip pouted and she was getting a bit frustrated.
(Y/N) perked up at the sound of a particularly loud scraping noise against the floor. Moving hastily, she crouched down and scurried towards the commotion. She probably looked like an idiot, but she did have to admit that she was making good pace and she was, mostly, silent.
She rounded the corner nearest the Captain America exhibit that showcased his accomplishments, fellow soldiers, and friends. Her eyes flickered over a tall, hooded figure who was bent down and messing with the display.
(Y/N)’s eyes widened dangerously when the person opened and reached into the pocket of James Barnes’ pants. She knew that a few of the man’s belongings still remained encased within the clothing. Peggy Carter had asked her, personally, to allow the items to stay and she’d be damned if she allowed some random person to defile James’ memory and her vow to Peggy.
Her chest puffed up and her jaw squared in hopes of seeming more intimidating. She silently marched towards the person, stopping just short of them. “What in the hell are you doing?” (Y/N) growled sternly, startling the trespasser.
The person, a man, jumped back quickly, falling on his rear with a echoing thud. His eyes were wide and darting from side to side in fear, (Y/N) dropped her façade and fell to her knees. “I’m sorry,” she cooed, holding her hands up innocently, “I didn’t mean to scare you, I just can’t have anyone touch those.”
“I needed to remember.” It was barely a whisper, (Y/N) hardly registered it.
“What?” she asked, brows furrowed.
The man’s eyes raised a bit, voice following in suit, “I needed to remember,” he repeated, looking over to the commemorative setup longingly.
(Y/N) released a short huff, “We have business hours, Sir. What could you possibly need to remember so badly?” though she didn’t mean to sound rude. She breathed out and moved to sit back on her legs.
The man moved too, sitting straight and crossing his legs, “I needed to remember who I am, or, at least, who I was,” he elaborated, lowering his hood to reveal long brown hair and an all too familiar face.
Her eyes raised, looking towards the mural on the wall and then returning to the man. “Oh my God,” (Y/N) mumbled, “oh my God,” she recited again, scooting closer to him to inspect his face.
(Y/N) sat back again, shocked to silence. She could feel her stomach drop and her chest bubble with excitement, “You’re Bucky, I mean, you’re James. You are actually James Barnes. I can’t believe you’re here, this isn’t possible,” she stuttered.
(Y/N) caught sight of James’ overwhelmed face and recoiled, calming herself. “You’re my biggest hero, Sergeant Barnes,” she retreated back to utter politeness, eyes ablaze.
James stayed low, so (Y/N) stood up, cautiously taking his hand in hers, and nearly sprinted towards his outfit, giving him silent approval to do as he pleased. He reluctantly looked at her, before running his hands over the material of his jacket and letting out a shaky breath.
“Did Captain America come here?” he whispered finally, tucking his fingers into a pocket and retrieving something.
“Cap?” (Y/N) asked, earning a curt nod, “yeah, Steve comes here all the time. Sometimes, I let him go through and just play with everything. He says it makes him feel nostalgic,” she added happily, watching James flick through the other pockets and placing each item in a heap on the floor.
When James finished, he looked forlornly at the pile and sat beside it. (Y/N), in effort to not invade on his moment, made work of re-fastening each button and patting the stiff fabric. She could hear light sniffles, her heart ached for the known stranger.
“Are you okay, Sergeant Barnes?” (Y/N) comforted lightly, moving closer and ducking beside him. She hesitantly placed a hand on his shoulder, he first stiffened under the touch, but then eased into it.
James clutched a photo in the palm of his left hand and stared at it, he eventually threw up the hand desperately and sighed, “I can’t remember who this is.”
“Maybe I could help,” she offered lightly, “I know quite a bit about you, or,” she paused, pointing to the mural, “that you.”
He nodded, cautiously handing over the photo. (Y/N) could recognize the girl in the worn photo, “this is your younger sister, Rebecca Barnes.”
Bucky breathed in calmly, taking in the information and closing his eyes. He sat like this for a moment, before releasing the photo and picking up another, “This is Steve and I?” he asked, like it was a question.
“It looks like it,” she agreed, taking a closer look, “at Coney Island, I think. You guys look cute in that,” she admitted, noticing the young boys’ tousled hair and cheesy grins.
James hummed contently, “I remember feeling sick and forcing Steve onto the big rides and the smell of popcorn. ”He pawed through the other items with a smile on his face, pausing briefly between each thing before moving to the next.
“Would you like me to call Steve?” (Y/N) cooed, “Maybe you can stay there for the night, it’s gotta be better than what you’re doing here, Sergeant,” she added suggestively.
James shook his head solemnly in disagreement, “Steve can’t know I’m here.” He looked back to his suit, “and you really don’t have to call me Sergeant, that was a lifetime ago.” “Okay, Jame-,” (Y/N) started, earning a, rather hilarious, grumpy look from the man, “Bucky,” she finished, correcting herself. “Where do you wanna go to sleep then, Bucky?” she asked.
“The gift shop in the Hall of Mammals exhibit,” he answered swiftly, “it’s not the worst place I’ve slept,” a disdainful look filled his eyes with the statement.
“Well, unfortunately, I can’t let that happen,” she stated, genuine sympathy lacing her tone, “but you can stay at my place. My apartment has an extra room and I’m sure my Bucky wouldn’t mind.”
Bucky’s eyebrows raised, “your Bucky?”
(Y/N)’s hand scratched at the back of her neck and she let out a nervous giggle, “Did I really say that out loud?” Bucky answered in a nod. “Um, my dog. His name is Bucky too. I named him after you actually, I wasn’t really lying when I said you were my hero.”
“I’m no hero,” Bucky muttered darkly, looking down to her name tag, “(Y/N), I’m horrible.”
“You’re not even giving yourself a chance,” she retorted, standing up, “and let me make my own assumptions about you, I’ve waited three days for this. Do you wanna come to mine or not?”
“The Hall of Mammals isn’t that ba-,” Bucky started, only to be cut off by (Y/N)’s playful scowl, “I guess I will stay with you,” he huffed, collecting his things and standing up.
“Oh, that’s great!” (Y/N) hummed excitedly, giving a quick jingle of her keys, “I thought I was going to have to carry you out which would have been awkward,” she added in a slow mumble.
Bucky snickered and looked freely at the halls in which he’d inhabited for the past week. “I’ve actually liked it here,” he said aloud, walking towards his mannequin.
“Maybe I’ll get you a job,” she said, digging in her bag for a keycard. “Wait,” she paused, looking at him sternly, “if you were trying to ‘remember’ yourself, why were you messing with my exhibits?”
“Oh, that?” he acknowledged, tucking the trinkets back into his suit’s pockets and turning back with a semi-devilish grin, “that, was for fun.”

Tottenham vs Aston Villa Preview: Villa return to Premier League with a squad confident of upset
Two months have passed since Tottenham were defeated in the Champions League final and the curtain camera down on another season without a trophy.
They were so close to lifting a first piece of silverware since the League Cup in 2008, but Mauricio Pochettino was forced to regroup and plan another route to success.
They start the season with a series of new acquisitions. Spurs have spent a lot on Tanguy Ndombele Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani lo Celso after Mauricio Pochettino finally had room to maneuver in the transfer window.
Spurs are not the only team that has grown up this summer, although tomorrow's opponents Aston Villa also make full use of their checkbook. In Tyrone Mings, Wesley, Matt Targett, Trezeguet, Tom Heaton, Bjorn Engels and Douglas Luiz and they will be ready to jump for a surprise.
Tottenham can get through the Champions League final to get this year to win
TOTTENHAM: Hosts can use this time around
European heartache to push for trophies [Twelve months agoLiverpoolthe sadness of ChampionsLeague-finalet lossesEuropeanecommercials [20099numbered9] redo919 , held their best players and spent a lot of money on Alisson, Fabinho and Naby Keita to eventually become European champions and finish second with 97 points in the Premier League.
There is something about that change from which Mauricio Pochettino can take comfort. Defeat in Madrid could even have a positive effect if his players could use this experience and translate it into success this time.
Mauricio Pochettino was frustrated about the lack of transfers, but new faces arrived
There is a consensus that Spurs still lags behind rival Manchester City and Liverpool title rivals, but after their work in the transfer period of the last few days, Pochettino certainly has a team to compete with the big boys.
Traces were without talisman Harry Kane for the back of last season, but the English captain is fit and shoots again, even in the standings against Juventus in the preseason.
Kane has scored four goals in five Premier League games against Aston Villa, including a brace in their last encounter: a 2-0 win for Spurs at Villa Park in March 2016.
Kane is fit and fires again in their first full season at their plush new stadium
Despite their memorable run to Madrid that saw exciting victories over Manchester City and Ajax in the knockout phase, Spurs struggled for form last season.
Pochettino's team has so far lost in 2019 13 of their 29 games in all competitions, more than any other current Premier League side. The Argentinian wants to stop that malaise and sees no better place to start than tomorrow at home.
ASTON VILLA: The Dean Smith side has spent a lot and seems more than capable of avoiding the drop
Last season must have felt like a dream for Dean Smith. He took over at the club that he supported as a boy at the beginning of October and supervised a gradual improvement from mid-table to a play-off finish that culminated in the victory at Wembley.
Building on the offensive style that worked so well for him in Brentford, Smith led Villa to a club record of 10 straight league wins that pushed them into the playoffs.
Things have improved, at least on paper, compared to major investments in playing squadrons that have given them a strong opportunity to stay on top and maintain their status for years to come.
Villa has a team that can stay in the Premier League and will be excited to cause a shock
There will be some cause for concern, given that the massive release of Fulham ended 12 months ago with relegation to the championship after a season of unfortunate performance of a non-scholarly team
A positive point for Villa is that three of their signing sessions were with the team last season and that continuity should ensure that they do not have to engage in English football to fit. Tyrone Mings is a player who can build up his defense around this season, while Anwar El Ghazi was a threat in the second layer last season.
They have bought a Premier League No. 1 in Tom Heaton and most crucial is that they have again kept the captain and star man Jack Grealish. The boy villa fan and John McGinn are a serious attacking threat from midfield.
There will be pressure on the new Wesley striker To score enough goals to help them
The conclusion of the Tammy Abraham loan agreement gives cause for concern, as he scored 25 championship goals last season, but they have spent £ 22 million on the Brazilian Wesley to fill the void in front.
Villa is dangerous opposition tomorrow. Spurs becomes even more disturbing when you consider that they have won their last three opening games in the Premier League, with all three of these away from home (Arsenal in 2013-14, Stoke in 2014-15 and Bournemouth in 2015-16).
Predicted line-ups
Tottenham: Lloris; Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Sissoko, Ndombele; Lo Celso, Eriksen, Lucas; Kane
Aston Villa: Heaton; Guilbert, Mings, English, Targett; Hourihane, McGinn, Grealish; Jota, El Ghazi, Wesley
What do the bookmakers say?
Spurs are eager to win, just as you would think a big six-team would be to beat a newly promoted game. At 1/3 they are heavy favorites to collect all three points at home.
As described above, Villa is ready to ward off a shock for the opening day and on 11/1 they can stimulate a few accumulators. Even a draw at 4/1 can be tasty given the poor shape of Spurs at the end of last season.
Who says what?
[1945902] Tottenham winger Erik Lamela: & Villa will be a difficult game. They will try to do well. We will try to get the three points and we are now working hard to prepare for the game. We know what to do. I think the team is ready and the players are motivated for the start of the season. I believe we can have a very good season. It is important to start well and the players are motivated to start well. We are ready. & # 39;
Aston Villa manager Dean Smith: & # 39; My ambition is not just to stay up. It is not a positive message to spend, just to survive. We are going to win every game, whether it's Spurs, Chelsea or Manchester United. That is my mentality, the players have understood that correctly. & # 39;
MAIN FACTS
Aston Villa has just won one of their last 17 competitive encounters with Tottenham Hotspur (W1 D3 L13); This came in a 1-0 win over White Hart Lane in April 2015 thanks to a first half Christian Benteke goal.
This is the sixth time that Tottenham plays their opening game of a Premier League season against a promoted party. They have won four of the previous five, with their only defeat in 2007-08 against Sunderland.
In playing their first game of the Premier League season at home, Tottenham only lost once (W2 D3), with that defeat to Manchester United in 1997-1998.
Aston Villa is without a win in their last 18 Premier League away games (D3 L15) and lost their last seven in a row between February and May 2016.
After winning their first four games without at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs are non-profit in their last three in their new home (D1 L2).
Harry Kane of Tottenham has scored four goals in five Premier League games against Aston Villa, including two goals in their last encounter: a 2-0 win for Spurs at Villa Park in March 2016.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has lost two of his three home games in the Premier League. against Aston Villa (one with Southampton, one with Spur s). He only lost more home games in the league against Liverpool and Manchester City (3 each).

The Invention of Cotton Gin and Slavery
December 26, 2017
When slavery was still prominent across many countries, there was an age were cotton ruled the market. It was as important back then as well. An invention from a man named Eli Whitney changed everything. His invention of the cotton gin made the production of cotton never easier. After tobacco, cotton has become the number one cash crop in America. More production meant more farms and more farms meant more slaves. Due to the great demand for labor, slavery was back in business in America. The invention of the cotton gin has triggered the country into civil war. The invention of the cotton gin from Eli Whitney has strongly influenced slavery and triggered the civil war in America.
King Cotton
Demand in the Global Market
The global market, especially in Europe demanded a large amount of cotton due to its wide use in daily life, back in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. Cotton is highly durable, insulate heat, comfortable, and takes in moisture. Britain’s high demand for cotton has created a price upon the world market. Britain between the years of the 1780s to the 1820s had a strong influence in the world markets and was hampered by the high price of inputs resulting from the sudden surge in British demands. (Broadberry, & Gupta, 2009) More demand resulted in higher pricing in cotton. Supplying cotton has become a difficulty and the cotton market was dying for an alternative.
Challenge in Fine Cotton Production
To makes things worse, raw cotton took a significant time to produce and was labor intensive. Cotton before took time to produce, due to taking out the seed from cotton. It would take twenty-five days to remove the seed from fifty bales of cotton but a trained slave could harvest fifty bales of cotton a day. (McGill, 2017) This time-consuming process of deseeding was a problem that all cotton harvester faced. This process has made cotton production unprofitable a few years ago.
The invention of the Cotton Gin
Eli Whitney and the Invention of Cotton Gin
Eli Whitney, growing up at a farm, had a strong interest in machinery and technology, as he studied at Yale University. Working at plantation farm in Southern Carolina, he finds that Tobacco no longer becoming the cash crop in America. Although he finds that cotton can be greatly produced but it was difficult to deseed the cotton. This is where he invents the cotton engine or the cotton gin. Eli Whitney’s invention of the cotton gin, which is a mechanical device that removes the seed from cotton, quickly made an impact on the farming industry.
The simple design of the cotton gin has brought much attention from the public. The rollers with wire teeth on a revolving cylinder, pulling the cotton through a comb that filters the seed from the cotton. Although because of his simple design and his effort to franchise the design, may farmers have stolen and copied his idea. In 1795, Whitney perfects his design and begin manufacturing gins, however, his workshop had been lost in a fire. This has left him deep in debt, which took some 60 lawsuits for courts to finally uphold Whitney’s patent in 1807. (Allott, 2014) His simple technology made many cotton farmers rich. However, he was not able to make much income. After he was able to attain his patent right for his invention, he started to make real money and his invention has finally paid him off.
Productivity and Change in Society
Whitney’s invention, the cotton gin, dramatically increase the speed of the de-seeding process. The cotton gin with the wire combs that would remove the cotton fibers from the seed and the seed would drop. (McGill, 2017) Because of the faster production creating raw cotton, cotton production has finally become a profitable cash crop. He was able to test the cotton gin, how fast it was able to deseed, compare to the traditional way. “When Whitney demonstrated the gin for Greene’s friends and acquaintances, he was able to do a half day’s work within an hour” (McGill, 2017). The invention of the cotton gin successfully made the intensive half days work of deseeding process an hour which brought many farmers to produce cotton.
Britain became the number one customer in trade in cotton. The majority of the cotton in the world at the time came from America. From a large amount of trade, Americans have made brought great wealth to the American society. More than the cotton has come widely available in the global market, the price of raw cotton has largely decreased. The great price increase in cotton when there was a great demand in Britain have slowly fallen back. “As supply increased, particularly from the United States, the price of raw cotton in Britain fell back, returning during the 1830s to its level in the early eighteenth century.” (Broadberry, & Gupta, 2009) From this effect, competitors such as India have faced a great challenge as they had to fight for export with America with the cotton gin.
Affect to Slavery and After Effect
This great invention had a bigger side effect on American society. Due to a large number of cotton farms, there was a great demand for physical labor. There were still the need of people in picking up and growing cotton. Although the country was moving towards abolishment in slavery, it has struck another slavery revolution. “Between 1820 and 1860, at least 875,000 slaves were forcibly removed from the Upper South, causing the enslaved population in Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, and Alabama to increase by 68 percent and leading to a cotton boom after the invention of the cotton gin and a sugar revolution in Louisiana” (Vincent, 2016, p. 19). The price of slaves was decreasing however things have soon changed. A lot of slaves were brought to the south for cotton harvesting.
As Tabaco become unprofitable, cotton saved America from the economic collapse. Since cotton was valuable at the time, cotton gin allowed mass production which results in greater slavery. While slavery became negatively viewed in the northern states, it has become one of the factors which have to lead to trigger the civil war in 1860. “Rather, in an ironic twist for a society that has always been driven by invention and “progress,” it is the technology that doomed the United States to civil war.” (Finkelman, 2001, pg. 413) The cotton gin has economically brought success although it has brought a darker fate to society. “The Founding Fathers, sensing that slavery’s days were numbered and oblivious to the coming spike in cotton profitability, acceded to constitutional provisions that were supportive of southern agriculture.” (Van Cott, 2010, pg. 173) Human rights and economic growth come to hand to hand, just as we can see in today’s politics. At this period many found cotton farming profitable and many demanded larger farms. Larger the farm asked for more slaves. Unfortunately, differences in society and separation lead to conflict between the northern and southern states.
Conclusion
Cotton today have taken an important role in so many things in our daily life, such as t-shirts, jeans, socks, paper money, furniture, and much more. This simple yet great invention of the cotton gin from a man named Eli Whitney changed the history of America. His invention of the cotton gin made the production of cotton never easier but did not profit Eli as much as the farmers. Cotton has become the number one cash crop in America at the time and brought many white Americans to produce cotton. Larger production demanded physical labor which many African American slaves were forced into. The invention of the cotton gin from Eli Whitney shook the global market and has strongly influenced the slavery in America, eventually leading to a war to end slavery.
