He had already made up his mind that after a suitable interval—a month, say—he would take the risk of visiting the shop again. It was perhaps not more dangerous than shirking an evening at the Center. The serious piece of folly had been to come back here in the first place, after buying the diary and without knowing whether the proprietor of the shop could be trusted. However—!

Yes, he thought again, he would come back. He would buy further scraps of beautiful rubbish. He would buy the engraving of St. Clement’s Danes, take it out of its frame, and carry it home concealed under the jacket of his overalls. He would drag the rest of that poem out of Mr. Charrington’s memory.

Summary: What happened in Steve’s senior year of high school? We know that he almost failed grade 12, and we know he had ‘lost his groove’ by mid-summer of 1985, but what happened between November 1984 and July 1985? And what if Steve actually made friends with Eddie Munson during that time instead of being alone? Senior Year is a fic about Steve struggling with PTSD and depression through his final months of high school, and how he slowly spiralled downward, making it impossible for him to get into college, and damaging his confidence so badly he couldn’t get a date if he begged. During senior year, Steve does make a connection with Eddie though, and their odd on-again, off-again ‘friendship’ becomes a staple in both their lives. This is a story about coping, the struggles of a broken heart, and making connections. There are genuine, raw moments, but in the end, the connection these two boys have is strong enough to see them through it all—even if it takes them both a long time to realize that they have feelings for one another.

HAPPY 40TH ANNIVERSARY TO ELECTRIC DREAMS!!

i wanted to make something way out of my comfort zone to celebrate the 40th anniversary, so i went with puppets! i definitely learned a lot, got frustrated a lot, but overall had a ton of fun. as shown by the photo though, i only got miles done on time, but madeline and edgar will be made! it’ll just take some time from now. the edgar used for this picture is the one i made for when i cosplay miles!

on july 20th, 1984, electric dreams was released to theaters. due to sudden executive concerns, the movie had to be pulled out of theaters only 2 weeks after its first run, but the movie still managed to survive through reairings, rentals, and cult followings (so if any EDheads wondered why it did so bad at the box office, that’s why, it got yoinked)

this movie… very funnily enough isn’t even my number 1 favorite movie (it’s in the top 3 though) but it IS the number 1 inspiration i have for a lot of what i create and do, its a really charming movie, and 80s as all hell. here’s to many more years of celebrating this piece of art :]

1984, is the first time Neil Gaiman released a book. 

In 1985, he got married and started his career as a comic book writer and in 1986, he assaulted Julia Hobsbawm.

This took place in Chalk Farm, London, where he forcibly kissed her and shoved her down on the sofa at her own studio flat before she escaped. According to The Crown Prosecution Service, “sexual assault is where one person intentionally touches another person sexually without their consent. The touching can be done with any part of the body or with an object.” In her own words, she described it as “an aggressive, unwanted pass” and that she still remembers it even now. 

Through 1987 and 2002 he progressed his career and published the famous book Coraline. A new year happens and he is in his early-forties and is thriving off of the success of his several money-making works, at a book signing event in Sarasota, Florida. There he hits it off with a young 18 year old (K) and they start dating. Two years later, in 2005, with two more awards under his belt, he forcibly penetrated that young twenty year old who told him not to because of a painful infection.

After another two years, he and his first wife divorced.

It's 2012, five years later and one year into a new marriage and at another book signing, Neil, age 52, immediately assaulted Claire (pseudonym) with a non-consensual kiss. Throughout keeping contact Neil had escalated this with video and phone calls that had a heavy sexual connotation where he appeared to either be naked or tried to instigate something. All of this accumulated into sexually assaulting her on a tour bus. Neil’s contact with her lasted until 2014 where he had promptly accused her in a text message that she had used him for sex.

Within the same year, Neil had enough money to buy a property, and met Caroline Wallner, 55, and her at-the time current husband. With a deal to do odd jobs for Neil and his wife to live there until she could own a five-acre plot, it wasn’t long before things turned sour. A divorce in 2017 sent everything spiraling, with her former husband fired, she in a once financially stable position, was now completely dependent on Neil Gaiman who used that to his advantage. Using her lack of financial stability to get himself sexual favors, he coerced her into a sexual-only, notably uninformed BDSM-entering territory while she was emotionally vulnerable, not accepting denials. This lasted until the summer of 2021, and in December of that year she and him went to court, what awaited her was $275k of compensation and a non-disclosure agreement (nda).

It wouldn’t take long for another woman to experience Neil Gaiman’s repeated offenses as well because in February of 2022, Scarlett (a pseudonym), age 23, a newly hired nanny, was sexually assaulted in the bathtub at his house. Neil, age 61, climbed into the bathtub with her and coerced her into having sexual relations. He too, in his coercion of her, made her financially dependent on him and brought BDSM elements to an inexperienced young woman who could not say no.

Since July 3rd of this year, 2024, five women have come out with sexual assault allegations aimed at Neil Gaiman. They all have several things in common with each other: either being young and naive, a fan of his, or put in a vulnerable spot financially or emotionally. Throughout the years and according to the stories, Neil progressively gets more bold and aggressive in his attempts for sexual gain. There are many more stories out there and whispers on the internet of how predatory Neil Gaiman has been in the industry. However, focusing on the five women who came out to speak and pushing their voice is an important part of the discussion.

Staying silent will only protect his peace.

Jimmy Johnson

James William Johnson (born July 16, 1943) is an American sports analyst and former football coach. Johnson served as a head football coach on the collegiate level from 1979 to 1988 and in the NFL for nine seasons. He is the first head football coach to win both a college football national championship and a Super Bowl, achieving the former with University of Miami and the latter with the Dallas Cowboys. Since his coaching retirement, Johnson has appeared as an analyst for Fox Sports and is one of the featured commentators of Fox NFL Sunday. He was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2012 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020.

Johnson attended high school at Thomas Jefferson High School, now Memorial High School, in Port Arthur, Texas. Johnson played college football as a defensive lineman at the University of Arkansas between 1962 and 1964. During his time in Arkansas, he played with future Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Johnson held his first head football coaching position at Oklahoma State University from 1979 to 1983. He became Miami's head football coach in 1984 and guided the team to a college championship, before succeeding original Cowboys head coach Tom Landry in 1989. He served five seasons with the Cowboys and guided the team to two Super Bowl championships. Johnson also coached the Miami Dolphins for four seasons and led the club to the playoffs in all but his first year on the job. In all, Johnson’s record as an NFL head coach was 80-64-0 in the regular season and 9-4 in the playoffs for an overall mark of 89-68-0.

Twice married, first to Linda Kay Cooper on July 12, 1963, with whom he had two sons, divorced in January 1990. On July 18, 1999, Johnson married Rhonda Rookmaaker. I swear… why do I even bother. There isn't much else I can say about him. He's good looking and I'd love to fuck him like crazy. Like a lot of other people no doubt.

On this day, 15 July 1984, the group which became Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) held their first meeting at founding member Mark Ashton's flat on the Heygate Estate in South East London. The meeting was advertised in the newspaper Capital Gay, and called for lesbians and gay men "interested in solidarity work… to set up an organisation" to support a nationwide strike of mineworkers in opposition to a pit closure programme of the Conservative government. The meeting began at 4 PM, and was attended by 11 people. The group would go on to grow significantly around the UK, raise huge amounts of money for the miners, and build lasting links between the working class movement and the LGBT+ community in Britain. Their work ultimately resulted in the official trade union movement, and subsequently Labour Party policy, declaring their support for gay rights, and the London Pride parade in 1985 was headed by a column of miners. Mia Winters' Texas driver's license

Extracted image asset from RE7, front and back. Though it's filthy and hard to read, I like that they've clearly based it on a real Texas driver's license layout ‒ that's a nice touch.

Interesting that the photo looks like a cap of the in-game model though, rather than an an actual photo, like most other pics of Mia in RE7 (and even some from RE8).

Since it's in her real name, we can probably assume this is her real driver's license, not some cover identity created by the Connections for this job.

You can just about make out Mia's birth-date as the 14th of December. So if we take the age given for her in the RE7 guide book (which may be is questionable, but it's what we've got) as 32 in July 2017, that would make her birth date the 14th of December 1984.

Both license and guidebook give her height as 5'7", or 170 cm, so a point for consistency there.

Mind you, the license does say her eyes are blue, which is odd, as Mia's eyes in RE7 are pretty clearly brown (yes, even when she's not possessed). Though they are suddenly blue in RE8, which clearly means... that mould infection/recovery changes your eye colour? That if Chris gets to go brown-to-blue-eyes between games (plus a completely new character model), why not Mia too? That Capcom thinks consistency is for cowards? IDEK.

The implication that Mia and Ethan lived in Texas makes a lot of sense to me ‒ not just because of the old joke about how being from Texas explains how Ethan's so good with guns, but because Texas is right next door to Louisiana. Which matters, considering that Ethan apparently got the email about Mia's location at 11PM July 18, and arrived in his own car before sunset on the 19th (with the final boss battle and Not A Hero DLC taking place on the 20th).

Which makes it all the more annoying that that guide book claims that Ethan Winters is "a systems engineer who works in Los Angeles", the other side of the fecking country. Google maps assures me you can get from basically any part of Texas to Dulvey, Louisiana within a comfy 3-12 hour drive, whereas you're looking at over 24 hours on the road from Los Angeles. Even if Ethan moved there only after Mia's disappearance, Texas makes infinitely more sense. But I think the whole eye colour thing pretty well demonstrates how good Capcom is at keeping its published story straight.

It's nice when details like Mia's Texas driver's license add up. But sometimes, you've just gotta not sweat the small stuff.

STS-41-D Discovery being rolled back to the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB).

Following the launch abort at T-6 on June 26, 1984, it was discovered there was a problem with SSME #3, which had some contamination in a hydraulic actuator, this in turn led to a temporary blockage of the engine’s hydrogen fuel valve. NASA decided to change out the complete engine on the pad. However, it was decided to combine the Discovery's first (STS-41-D) and second (STS-41-F) missions and payloads together to minimize satellite backlog after the PAM-D failures during STS-41-B. This required the Space Shuttle to be de-stacked from the ET and sent to the OPF. There workers installed additional support for the new payload. Discovery returned to the launch pad on August 9.
