Decided to doodle some cultists I’ve come up for in fics, had in my actual game, or a cool idea i came up with on the spot. Oh and Sozo and Webber are here too :D This is by no means the entirety of the cult, and there may be future followers that stand out too, but for now enjoy these guys. Feel free to ask about them I guess lmao

I will be putting down my written notes under a cut since they’re so small and scribbly ^^;

Brother Tyr, head priest, he/him: The Lamb's 3rd closest. Very stressed despite doing his job for 200 years. Tries and fails to be a peacekeeper in the cult. Tyr and Nari argue a lot.

Brother Narinder, head mortician, he/him: Don't piss him off. The Lamb's spouse. Best source of info on the crowns and outside world. Can do any job around the temple and will. When the Lamb isn't around.

Sister Merbre, temple organizer, she/her: Helob loves her. The main reason the temple runs when Lamb is gone. Has a surprising realist view. Everyone loves her. Romantic at heart.

Yeon, general worker, she/her: Has to let loose in demon form or else. Together with Julno. Friends with Narinder. Seeking absolution from her past crimes. 'Encouraged' Narinder to court Lamb.

Tyna, assistant mortician, they/them: Cult's head goth. Runs the slam poetry night. Also does piercings and tats.

Nanaon, retired missionary, she/her: One of the Lamb's most faithful. Insists she's not that old and can still work. One of the few mortals to earn the respect of both Deaths.

Firyn, farmer, he/him: A worker. Great with people and plants. Born after the fall of the Old Faith. Leshy's companion. Doesn't know the horrors yet. People tend to underestimate him.

Pura, general worker, she/they: Likes Firyn. Likes to manipulate things to her benefit. Doesn't like Leshy. Doesn't realize what being an ex-bishop means. Genuinely respects the Lamb.

Almer, refinery worker, he/him: Shamura's friend. Easy going. Wants a big family. A good confidant. Gives great hugs.

Grayden, silk sorter, they/them: Shamura's friend. Quiet but a beautiful singer. A shy pushover, but will snap.

Julno, farmer, he/him: Came with the 'coward' trait. Still scared of the Lamb, and Yeon's 'bestie' Narinder. Together with Yeon. Doesn't know her murderous urges.

Poppy, she/her: Best friends with Webber, youngest of the cult. Brave and tenacious Webber, he/them: Best friends with Poppy, youngest of the cult. Gentle and curious.

Dr. Sozonius, researcher, he/him: Amnesiac. Lamb is helping him find home. Extremely well educated about biology. Does not like the spider stalking him, or the mushroom.

Keeper, record keeper, she/him: Face is always obscured. Hates the Dark. Doesn't talk about his past. Has a strange locket that ticks. Always smells of salt.

Joobre, refinery worker/tailor, he/them: Loves working with silk. Has tea with Berith. Likes gold jewelry.

Thorty, bartender, he/him: Fights with Nari a lot. Short temper. Best with the drunks.

Bregrear, smith, he/him: Quiet. Knows his way around weapons. Old hat at this point. Hopes to retire in peace.

Harbre, smith apprentice/missionary, any pronouns: Hot tempered. Looks up to Bregrear. Married to Bathin, chases off suitors neither of them like. Longs to master their craft. Protective.

Anar, miner/lumberjack, he/him: Distrusting. Hard worker. Doesn't exactly trust the Lamb, but willing to give the cult a shot. Starts fights.

Fun-Gui, researcher assistant, they/them: Weirdly obsessed with Sozo. Self proclaims as his assistant. Other mushroomos don't like them. Always goopy and dripping.

Hajal, traitor, she/her: Left the cult. Status unknown.

camp nanowrimo--july 2020 edition masterpost

it’s been a rough 2020 so far for everyone, and i am no exception. while i am aiming for the traditional 50k, i’ll be happy if i just get some words down in july. my plan is to draft only, except for the one-shot, which is for a challenge due near the end of the month. here are my projects:

libera nos a malo+ is my main project (unless it gets too dark for me to process in my current state of mind, in which case, lol, i’ll write something else). 

the major players:

miranda rose: an american witch and a bounty hunter with questionable taste in men. as she tries to profit off the chaos of the second wizarding war, and navigate an increasingly inconvenient relationship with one severus snape, she’ll be pushing her limits in every way.

severus snape: an english wizard, also an ass. torn between two masters, and between his love for the living miranda and the dead lily, severus may have trouble coming out of this war alive.

remus lupin: brilliant and kind, and working hard to ruin his own life because of his self-loathing, he and miranda have a dangerous mission to gain the allegiance of those werewolves who haven’t fallen prey to greyback’s promises of dominance.

isahak lal: an orphan boy with a mysterious past and an even more mysterious future.

i’m aiming for at least 25k words on this story.

a more perfect life+ is an everyone lives!au fluff summer beach read that i started to save my sanity back in april. the dark lord is dead, harry has several younger siblings, severus and regulus are friends with the marauders (well, most of them) and miranda rose has just come to england for the first time on the trail of a graphorn...and more adventure.

the major players:

miranda rose: still an american witch, still a bounty hunter, not expecting to find love on english shores--but happy to roll with it when she does.

severus snape: still an english wizard, still kind of an ass, stumbling into love for the first time since his teenage years.

eileen snape: severus’s mother, struggling with ptsd.

regulus black: severus’s closest friend (besides lily), knows what it’s like to be on both sides of the war.

lily potter: a little pushy, but a total sweetheart.

james potter: a big hearted man child.

sirius black: see above.

remus lupin: the only marauder who ever grew up.

peter pettigrew: newly released from azkaban, hoping to restart his life.

i’m planning for 20k words on this fic, or to the end of the story, whichever comes first.

untitled one-shot: this is for a 5k au challenge. i’ll be writing a what-if from petunia evans dursley’s point of view. one afternoon, while vernon is away at work, and little harry and dudley are driving petunia bananas, severus snape and minerva mcgonagall come to her with a curious offer. one might almost call it a bargain with the devil.

the major players:

petunia evans dursley: a bitter housewife saddled with two unruly children. how much is she willing to risk to escape at least part of her prison?

minerva mcgonagall: a stately scottish witch who’s had quite enough of albus’s bs.

severus snape: he doesn’t like this. at all.

i’ll be aiming for 5k or less on this fic, as that is the challenge word limit.

Blues Run the Game

I won’t be posting updates on all of my julno project, but I wrote the first 400 words today, and I thought I’d share a bit of the opening because I love Dan. Rough, unedited.

  Ramen. Canned pearl onions. Maraschino cherries. Margarita mix. Cornflakes—that had potential, if there was milk in the… Damn. Empty box.

Dan sighed and put the box back in the cabinet. If he’d wanted to eat ramen or a whole jar of—expired—cocktail garnishes, he could have just stayed home. A loud snore from the futon in the other room drew his attention, and he leaned around the partition. Oh good. Still asleep. Now the hard choice; did he keep looking for food in his Grindr hookup’s kitchen and then do a runner, or did he risk waking the guy up by running the shower?

If he got lucky busking today, he might have enough to buy a cheeseburger at McDonald’s, but he definitely wouldn’t get enough to pay his rent and his electric bill, which meant no hot water for another couple of days at least. Shower it was, then.

He made sure his wallet and keys were in the bathroom with him before he locked the door and started the water. The guy he’d hooked up with—what was his name? Christian? Christopher? —seemed like a nice enough person, but he’d learned by now not to take any chances.

Especially since… Fuck, really? No shampoo?

Well, it’s not like he could judge.

He lathered the bar of Irish Spring between his hands and started scrubbing his hair. He was starting to think he should ask guys a couple of extra questions when he accepted their invitations. Questions like, “Do you have any food at your place?” and “Can I have some?” And maybe, he admitted to himself with a wince as the muscles in his back protested something or other, “Do you have an actual bed?”

An hour later, he stood in his own apartment, hands folded on his still-damp hair, and perused the instruments he had left. The guitar offered him more versatility, but everybody and their sister busked with a guitar in Nashville. He might get more attention with the mandolin or the banjo, but they both put a limit on the songs he could play, and he got his best tips from taking requests. The fiddle would be great, except it needed new strings and fuck if he could afford that.

A little voice in the back of his mind reminded him that he could probably get enough to get his power turned back on if he sold everything except his guitar—or just the guitar itself, with its custom mother-of-pearl inlays and real ivory keys and more memories than he could buy in a whole other lifetime.

Camp NaNoWriMo

I revived my NaNoWriMo account today after a 5 year hiatus (Thanks Grad School). Thus, I have some thoughts that I will now place on my tumblr for them to sit and be out of my head.

My goals:

1. I am totally using this as motivation to pump my dissertation out of me like some unwanted monster because God. Damn. I just want to graduate. 

2. I am going to use this as a motivator to finish the damn fan fiction series that I started a few months ago and haven’t updated. (sorry to my five fic followers who care)

3. If I am going to write anyway, I might as well count it towards Nano where I get emotional fulfillment out of seeing those cute little badges. 

4. Perhaps I can use this time to finish world building my series that I started writing before realizing I should have outlined it first. (I have no clue how to ever account for word gain there.)

5. Maybe I will finally post those drafted fic’s I have to AO3.

i did five fics this week. that’s a lot for me, lately. i’m not capable of pumping out as much fic as i did back during the earlier wars, i’ve not got the energy anymore

i’m proud of myself for finishing 5 fics this week

i’m gonna focus on some TtTaR, if anything, tonight. i might try start and finish the final prompt during the final day tomorrow, but if i don’t, i’ll get it done after the events over. and i’m not gonna beat myself up for that

2.  Do you participate in any writing events or challenges throughout the year? If so, what do you like about them?

Yes! I have been participating in National Novel Writing Month for years and years! Since I was like 15 or something. Well, I used to do julnowrimo instead of nano, because of school, but then julno got bumped because nano decided to host a second writing event in june and it’s called camp nano. It’s fun, but I made a lot of friends on the julno site so I was really bummed when that stopped being a thing. 

I just like all the support and the challenge and the community aspect. Writing is such a solitary thing, which I love most of the time, but sometimes it’s nice to talk about what you’re doing with people who are also passionate about writing. That’s part of what makes fanfiction so much fun. You write it, and then you share it and you get to talk to people about it. When you write original stuff, people don’t usually read it right away. 

6.  If you’re really concentrating, how many words can you write in a day?

If I was really trying I could write a lot of words. I haven’t done this in a long time. Normally, I write the most words when I stop thinking about my wc and focus on the story. Then I can get 5 or 6k words in a day. I am interested to see how many I could write if I just sat down and wrote. I always feel like I have to go and do other things though, so after I write a couple thousand, I start to lose focus. I’m working on that. I’m sure I could get up to 8k if I let myself.

First day of Julno I wrote 500 words! ...For a different project than I’m supposed to be working on. But I have a modest goal of 10k for the vampire au this month, so I also have the goal of finishing a couple lingering projects too.

Work on HATD is being officially paused for the month of July as I devote my time to JulNo. Message me if you're interested in keeping up with that, I have a Camp Nanowrimo account and I'm more than willing to share it.
