A good thing is all the sick, gruesome acts are off-camera. Thank God. I was dreading it.

The issue is, the buildup was very psychological and very thrilling. I was expecting a big twist or reveal or payoff, and there was none...

Red Rooms (French: Les chambres rouges) is a 2023 Canadian psychological thriller film written and directed by Pascal Plante. The film stars Juliette Gariépy, Laurie Babin, Elisabeth Locas, Maxwell McCabe-Lokos, Natalie Tannous, Pierre Chagnon and Guy Thauvette.

Exploring two young Quebec women's dark web obsession with a serial killer on trial in Montreal, this is a disturbing fictional look into true crime in the most French-Canadian way possible. It turns the tables by focusing on onlookers and the public's fascination with criminal behaviour by keeping the horrific murders in the background and foregrounding on our reactions to them. There are so many unsettling and unnerving elements that captivate the audience by leaving the grisly details to our imaginations.
