out of your league - julian alvarez.
requested by - anon.
request - hi could you do a julián álvarez imagine. thanks!
Tumblr media
“what’s up, juli?”
he looked up at your from the breakfast bar, mouth around the spoon as he shook his head.
“nothing,” he answered, but he knew you. he could tell that you knew he was lying, and the way you crossed your eyebrows gave it away.
“come on, you’ve been like this all night.”
“it’s nothing, i promise.”
julian moved towards the sink, turning the tap on to wash it out. he could see you through the reflection of the window, pout on your face as you watched your boyfriend.
you loved him so much and seeing him so down and upset made you want to cry. “if i’ve done something, i’m sorry.”
he turned almost immediately, forgetting about the bowl and moving towards you with a fast pace. “no, no. it’s not you. you’re perfect,” he assured, cradling your face.
that’s when you leaned forward and rested your forehead against his, closing your eyes. “what is it then? you can tell me anything.”
that’s when julian pulled back but didn’t stop the physical contact. his arms were still wrapped around your waist but a sad look overtook his face.
“the guys at work said you’re out of my league…”
you were generally lost for words. if anything, you were out of his league. julian was handsome and could get any girl he wanted, but instead he settled for you.
and that’s what he was thinking as well.
“i’m out of your league julian. you can get anyone you want and you chose me.”
he giggled quietly and looked at you again, “that’s what i thought too. just look at yourself.”
you stopped him from carrying on, not wanting him to down himself anymore. “whoever told you that has no clue. we love each other and that’s all that matters.”

Prince Harry hits out at spread of disinformation via AI and social media
Duke speaks at summit on digital responsibility while on visit with Duchess of Sussex to Colombia
Caroline DaviesFri 16 Aug 2024 12.39 CESTS
The Duke of Sussex has hit out at online disinformation during a four-day visit to Colombia, warning: “What happens online within a matter of minutes transfers to the streets.”
Speaking in Bogotá at a summit on digital responsibility, Harry said of the spread of false information via artificial intelligence and social media: “People are acting on information that isn’t true.”
The warning, on the first day of the tour of Colombia by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, did not name specific social media platforms, but Harry’s comments followed criticism of the tech billionaire and owner of X, Elon Musk, and social media platforms after the far-right riots in the UK.
Addressing experts at the summit, which was staged in part by Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation, Harry said in comments reported by the BBC: “In an ideal world those with positions of influence would take more responsibility. We are no longer debating facts.

The couple’s visit is at the invitation of Francia Márquez, Colombia’s vice-president, who told journalists she had been “deeply moved” by the Sussexes’ Netflix docuseries about their lives. “It motivated me to say [of Meghan], ‘this is a woman who deserves to visit our country and share her story’, and undoubtedly, her visit will strengthen so many women around the world,” said Márquez as she welcomed them to Bogotá.
Márquez said she had previously invited Meghan to get involved with a “day of Afro-descendant women” which is commemorated annually on 25 July, but Meghan was unable to make it. “At that time, we sent her an invitation letter, and she responded saying that she couldn’t come but was very eager to visit and get to know our country,” Márquez said.
It has not been confirmed who is funding the trip to Colombia, but the couple have reportedly been given a full security detail, which they no longer receive in the UK after stepping down as working royals in 2020. During the visit, which appears to follow the format of official royal visits, they are expected to spend time in Cartagena and Cali and attend the Petronio Álvarez festival, a four-day event in celebration of Afro-Colombian music and culture.
Their first day was spent in the capital, Bogotá, where they visited a school to meet teenagers at a session on online safety, watched a cultural showcase in which they joined in with the dancing, and attended the digital summit looking at the urgent need to tackle the harmful aspects of technology and digital platforms.
It is the Sussexes’ third trip this year after a three-day visit to Nigeria in May and a visit to Jamaica in January.

julian alvarez x reader where they’ve been best friends since childhood, and they share an apartment together. someone asks her out before julian could, basically because he’s way too shy. and she comes back and it’s literally just been an awful date and he comforts her and there’s a sweet confession. i feel like you’d be so good at writing this !!
Kisses on the cheek — Julián Álvarez

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and Julián had known each other since you were kids. You had met him at school and he had adopted you as a best friend from the very beginning. Julián was a kind person, someone who cared so much about you and it was impossible not to love him back. However, you had begun to develop feelings for him when you were a teenager and you had kept them just for you. There was no way you could confess and tell him the truth.
Things had changed when you crossed paths again in Manchester and you had moved with him to his apartment. Julián was playing in ManCity and you were looking for an apartment. He himself offered to share an apartment with you and be roommates, while you weren’t too sure about the idea. You accepted because you had nowhere else to go, four months later and you were still living together.
What you felt for Juli became stronger and stronger, sharing time with him made you know him more thoroughly. You liked to see him wake up in the morning, with his eyes closed and his messy hair. You liked it when you'd have a few glasses of wine and he’d get a little bold, while he’d move his hands like he was Spider-Man himself. Julián could be tender, kind and at the same time bold. You loved him very much, you loved every aspect of him.
You both adopted a cat just days after you moved in with him. You had seen the cat on the street alone and decided to grab it so he could spend the night with you. Like you, the cat had stayed in Julian’s apartment ever since. You liked to say that you were the cat's mom and that Julián was the dad. He always turned red when you mentioned that.
It was still early in the morning and as he had the day off, Julián was still sleeping. You made his favorite breakfast and when you saw him walk to you in the kitchen, barefoot, you smiled at him. Your friend came closer and kissed you on the forehead, then left another kiss on your cheek.
Could he hear the sound of your heart beating?
"How’d you remember I liked these?" Julian was surprised when you left breakfast on kitchen island.
"You’re my best friend, of course I’d remember..."
He smiled but there was something different about his smile, he wasn’t entirely happy. You knew him well enough to notice that something had happened. You looked at his wrist, he still had the bracelet you made when you were ten. It had been a long time since then and he had never taken it off.
"You still wear that little bracelet I made you? I don't even know where I left mine"
"It’s like my good luck charm." He declared, seriously thinking it was. He had done too well in his football career and had come a long way.
There was a silence between you, until he spoke again, "Can we talk later? I have something to tell you."
"Yeah, right. Did something happen?"
You thought maybe he wanted his apartment back and was going to kindly invite you to leave. After all, maybe he wanted to bring a girl home and you were there, like you were his girlfriend. As much as you felt things for him in your heart, you were nothing but friends and he had every right to have his life. It hurt but it was the truth.
"No, don't worry."
The two of you finished eating your breakfasts and you went back to your room. You were fully clothed and were doing your makeup, when Julian came up to your room. He covered his eyes, because as much as your door was open, he wanted to give you privacy.
"Do you want us to order pizza?"
"You can open your eyes, by the way. I’m going out today, I have a date." You explained, smiling and thinking about the boy you were going to meet. Julián pulled his hand out of his eyes and grimaced.
"Oh, cool."
Why didn't he look happy?
"You said you wanted to talk?" you asked him again, remembering what he had said in the morning.
"Yeah... It can wait, though. Enjoy your date."
Julián Álvarez left your room, too fast to seem normal. You finished preparing for the date and once you finished, you said goodbye to Julian by giving him a kiss on the cheek. There was something weird about Juli and you made him promise that later, when you got back from your date, you’d have the conversation pending. You had no idea what he wanted to tell you.
The date was a disaster. You couldn’t explain in words the things that had gone wrong. So you came back as fast as you could to the apartment. Your cat, Cafesito, moved between your legs, welcoming you. Julian was lying on the couch, watching a TV show with subtitles in spanish. You approached Julián and sat beside him on the couch.
"How did it go?" he asked, taking his eyes off the television.
"Horrible, I don’t want to talk about it."
"I’m sorry. How about a sleepover tonight? Like the good old times."
"You don’t have training tomorrow?" you asked, thinking about the time.
"Yes but I want to spend my time with you too."
Julian made some popcorn and brought some sweets, while you changed your clothes and took off your makeup. You went back to the living room and sat on the couch next to your best friend. Juli had a blanket to cover and you sat too close to keep the heat between you two. You could swear that Julian’s cheeks were red, even though the light was off and the television was the only thing that lit them.
Everything seemed like a normal night, watching a movie with a friend, until Julián broke the silence.
"I've loved you since we were kids."
There was silence and you turned to look at him. You didn’t know if you heard well or were imagining things. Julian was watching TV, not encouraged to look at your face.
"Juli? What are you talking about?"
"Funny thing is that everyone knew that I loved you, even our families. Maybe everyone still knows that I love you but not you."
"I can’t believe this... are you serious? Like you really love me?"
The word could mean many things, loving you as friends, loving as two people who shared a place and time together. He finally took his eyes off TV and put it on you.
"Yes, I love you. It's impossible to not love you. Every day I wanted to tell you how I feel, every time I thought about telling you the truth, some guy would come and ask you out, before I could. Today I’ve been thinking about the words to tell you and now I can’t think of anything. Just... I love you and I’m tired of pretending I don’t have feelings for you. I love you so much that I think about you during the matches, knowing that you’ll be there to support me no matter what the outcome. I think of you every morning and every night before I go to sleep. I’m so in love with you that is obvious."
You were speechless, it took you a while to process what he said.
"Wow. I feel the same for you, Julián. I thought you didn’t feel the same as me."
Julian smiled, he seemed so happy."So you have feelings for me too?"
"Yes, Juli. Of course I do."
Julian smiled like never before and asked permission to kiss you. Once you kissed, everything was clear to you. What had taken you so long to tell the truth?
"I love you, Julián."
"And I love you, hermosa."

Invisible String 𓍼 Julián Álvarez pt.2
Tumblr media
A/N: I'm back with part two of Invsible String! I hope you enjoy reading it <3
“One single thread of gold tied me to you,”
“I think my parents are going to lose their shit when we arrive,” Julian says and you chuckle. “What exactly did you tell them Juli?” you ask while keeping your focus on the road ahead. “Just that you were in town and we ran into each other yesterday and then Mom said I should bring you to the house for breakfast,” he says and smiles widely.
You giggle, “My parents still love you by the way, they wonder about you guys all the time,” he adds. “We missed all of you too, I can give her my mom’s number so they can get in contact again,” you say. “She’d love that a lot,” he replies.
Julián finishes giving you the directions to his parent's new house and a few minutes later you’ve arrived. After parking, you exit the car and let him lead the way. Before opening the door Julián smiles at you and presses a tender kiss to your cheeks. Twisting the key he unlocks the door and leads you inside.
It smells delicious and your mouth waters, “Mamá, Papá ya llegamos!” Julián yells announcing your arrival. (Mom, Dad we’re here!) You hear some rushed whispers and you stifle a laugh.  Julián stands next to you and discreetly places his hand around your waist making you blush. Gustavo and Mariana Alvarez appear a few feet in front of you and once their sights land on you, they smile.
“Dios mío cariño,te ves radiante!” she gushes and you laugh. (My god, darling you look amazing!)
Instantly she wraps you in a tight hug, “Gracias Mariana,” you croak out, and after a bone-crushing hug she lets you go. (Thank you, Mariana) “Ya estás hecha toda una mujer, es un gusto volverte a ver,” Gustavo says and hugs you. (You’re all grown up it’s a pleasure to see you again)
You laugh, “Los extrañaba tanto, me alegra verlos. “La casa se ve hermosa,” you say and they smile. (I missed you so much, it makes me really glad to see you. The house looks amazing) “Bueno la comida ya está lista, así que vengan,” Mariana says. (The food is ready so please come over)
Julián winks at you and you follow his parents to the kitchen. His hand is on the small of your back and you smile at the feeling.
The table is full of food and you grin once you see all the traditional foods you missed. “Huele increíble!”, you comment. (It smells amazing!) “Y con hambre va a saber mejor,” Julián adds and you all laugh. (It’s gonna taste better because we’re hungry)
Being the gentleman he was raised to be, Julián pulls out the chair for you, sitting down you look up at him and smile. His cheeks have a slight tint of red and he takes the chair next to you. You spot the pancakes with dulce de leche and grin.
Mariana smiles fondly, “Me imagino que aún te gustan los panqueques,” she says and you nod. (I suppose that you still like pancakes) “Claro! Cada vez que me quedaba con ustedes todo lo que te pedía era esto”, you say and she laughs. (Of course! Every time I stayed over all I asked for was pancakes)
“Me acuerdo que tan pronto llegabas era lo primero que me pedías” she says. (I remember that once you arrived the first thing you asked for was pancakes)
Taking some pancakes from the plate you take a sip from your mate and pass the plate with pancakes to Julián. The four of you chat over breakfast, “¿Cuánto tiempo piensas quedarte?” Gustavo asks. (How long are you planning on staying?)
“Por el resto del mes, luego tengo que regresar a Londres,” you reply. (For the remainder of the month,I have to head back to London right after) “Cómo encuentras la vida en Londres?” he asks you. (How do you find life in London?) “Interesante, me gusta la ciudad y siempre encuentro algo nuevo que hacer,” you reply. (Interesting, I enjoy the city and I always find something new to do)
“Y el trabajo va bien?” Mariana asks you. (Is work going well?) “Muy bien, ya he editado varias piezas pero aún no me ha tocado un libro. Por ahora trabajo con periódicos, revistas y cuentos cortos” you tell her. (Very good, I’ve already edited a few pieces but I haven’t been assigned a book. For now, I’m working with newspapers, magazines, and short stories.)
“Estoy segura que has estado muy contenta con el trabajo, siempre estabas con un libro,” She says fondly and you chuckle. (I’m sure you’re very happy with it, you always had a book with you.) “Mateo y Laura siguen en Miami?” she asks.  (Are Mateo and Laura still in Miami?) “Sí, tienen viajes de trabajo ahora mismo, pero aún siguen en Miami,” you tell her. (Yes, they have work trips right now but they’re still in Miami.)
“Deberíamos visitarlos cuando regresemos a Miami,” Gustavo suggests. (We should visit them next time we’re in Miami) “
Les voy a dar la dirección y sus números nuevos, de seguro se van a poner muy contentos cuando sepan de ustedes,” you tell them (I’m going to give you their numbers and address, surely they’ll be thrilled to hear about you.)
You carry on talking and you feel Julián’s hand on your thigh, you shift a little and try to not smile. “Bueno ya te tengo que preguntar porque no me aguanto,”Mariana says. (Well, I have to ask this now because I can’t wait any longer) Her statement makes you laugh and Julián sighs.
“Mamá por favor! Apenas lleva medio día con nosotros,” he says and you giggle. (Mom please! She’s barely spent half a day with us) You know what Mariana is going to ask and you rest your chin on your palm. “Tienes novio cariño?” she asks. (Do you have a boyfriend darling?)
You laugh and shake your head, “Nop,” you say. “No lo puedo creer, tan bonita y sin novio!” she exclaims. (I can’t believe it, you’re so pretty and without a boyfriend!)
“Quizás es el momento perfecto para decirte que Juli no tiene a nadie,” she candidly says.(Perhaps this is the perfect moment to tell you that Julián is single)
Gustavo laughs as you and Julián blush, his hand is still on your thigh and he squeezes a little. “Bueno pero que es este silencio? Acaso dije algo malo?” Mariana says and you laugh. (Well, what’s with this silence? Did I say something wrong?)
Next to you, Julian is shaking his head as he smiles a little. “Ya me imaginaba que saldrías con algo,” he says. (I was already imagining you’d pull something like this) “Bueno pero vos sos amigos desde pequeños, no vendría mal salir con alguien conocido y son grandes ya,” she says. (Well you’ve both been friends since little, it wouldn’t go wrong hanging out with someone familiar and you’re adults now)
“Has ido a un partido del Manchester City ya?” Gustavo asks, changing the topic. (Have you been to a Manchester City game already?) “No he podido pero ayer le prometí a Juli que voy a ir,” you reply. (No I haven’t, but I promised Juli I’ll go to one) “Ojalá y volvamos a coincidir allá,” he says and you grin. (Hopefully we can meet again over there)
You’re in the kitchen with Mariana helping her clean. “Ahora que el Juli no está aprovecho y te digo algo,” she says and you giggle. (Now that Juli isn’t here, I’ll take the opportunity to tell you something)
“Dime,” (Tell me) you say and she laughs. “Yo creo que Juli no ha salido con ninguna mina porque estaba esperando a encontrarse contigo de alguna forma.” (I think Juli hasn’t gone out with any girl because he was waiting to run into you somehow)
Oh if only she knew what happened last night. As much as you loved Gustavo and Mariana, last night you and Julián decided not to tell them anything yet because you wanted to spend this month exploring your relationship.
“Ah si, no ha salido con nadie?” you ask her. (Oh yeah, he hasn’t gone out with anyone?) She shakes her head, “No, pasa el tiempo libre trancado y no habla con ninguna. Siempre le dije a Gustavo que ustedes acabarían juntos,” she says with a smile. (No, he spends his free time locked inside and doesn’t talk to any girls. I always told Gustavo you’d end up together)
You giggle, “Todo puede pasar verdad, ya veremos” you say and she kisses your cheek. (Everything can happen, we’ll see)
“Me encantaría que termines con Juli porque ya eres familia pero todo puede pasar,” she says and winks at you. (I’d love for you to end up with Juli because you’re already family but everything can happen)
Deep down you feel like Mariana knows because she’s always been very perceptive and just like your mother she avidly believes you and her son were meant to end up together. The day is spent at the Álvarez household chatting and watching football.
After dinner, you say goodbye to the family and of course, Mariana sends you both home with leftovers. “That was a little intense,” Julián says as you exit the driveway. Laughing you wave him off, “I missed it honestly, and your mom is not wrong Juli, I feel like she knows,” you say. “Me too, but she still might be mostly clueless and she’s nudging us towards each other,” he says.
“And it’s working because when you said you had no boyfriend I wanted to ask you on the spot,” he adds with a laugh. “Were you now?” you tease and he laughs. “Mariposa come on, you know I would. But I want to do it like we agreed last night, we still have to keep knowing our grown-up versions,” he says.
“We do and believe me I want everything with you but I would hate for us to rush into this and have everything go wrong,” your voice has an edge and Julián can sense your worry. “We won’t go wrong, trust me,” he says and you smile.
“Speaking of doing it right. What do you say to spending the day together in Buenos Aires tomorrow?” he asks. Grinning, you nod before focusing on the road again. “Absolutely, I would love that Juli,” you say.
“Great, I’ll pick you up tomorrow bright and early,” he says. “At what time?” you ask.” “Four am, we can get there early,” he says. “Okay, I can call my dad and see if the apartment is empty. We can stay there and crash for a few days,” you say. “Great, it’s a date then,” he says grinning. “You got yourself a date Juli,” you say blushing.
You drop Julian off at his apartment and he kisses you sweetly before getting out of the car. Once he’s inside you drive for another ten minutes before getting home. While packing a bag for the next few days you text your parents and go to bed early to get some sleep since you need to be up at four in the morning.
You’ve been in Buenos Aires for a full week and it has been amazing. Both of you missed the city so you did not miss the opportunity to visit all of your favorite places. This week has been a great opportunity to explore your relationship which was growing comfortably.
As individuals you’d both matured immensely but the core of your identities and your dynamic was still untouched. Being with Julián is familiar, it feels safe and fun. It truly feels as if time hasn’t passed between you.
Walking out of the restaurant you feel the humidity in the air. “Do you want to walk around or head back to the apartment?” Julián asks you. “We can walk for a bit and then head back,” you say.
“Good we can walk all this food off,” he jokes. Throwing your head back you laugh, “It’s the only wise choice after stuffing our faces. Julián laughs at your statement and swings your interlaced hands making you laugh a little.
Walking through the streets you smile at the lively atmosphere, music can be heard from nearby and you turn to Julián with a grin on your face. He laughs as you pull him in the direction the music comes from.
There’s a crowd gathered in the street and people are singing and dancing. You and Julián end up dancing for most of the night and by the time you get to the apartment, you’re both tired and with sore feet but extremely happy.
Julián sits on the driver’s side of your car, since the trip back is eight hours you’d driven one half and he was driving the other. Lifting your head you rub your eyes and turn to look at him. Music plays softly and you sip some water from your cup. “Hola Juli,” you say and he chuckles. “Dormiste bien?” he asks you. (Did you sleep well?) “Mhm, cuanto falta para llegar?” you ask him.(Mhm, how long until we arrive?)
“Hora y media,” he says. (An hour and a half) “Podemos cambiar si quieres,” you say and he waves you off. (We can switch if you want)  “Estoy bien no te preocupes,” he replies. (I’m fine. Don’t worry)
Conversation falls easy between you and you talk about whatever is on your mind. Back in the city, you decide to spend the rest of the evening at his apartment watching movies. Your head is resting on his chest as he traces lazy patterns on your arms.
Since it’s starting to get dark the city lights get brighter and from the window, they look like little specks scattered all over.
Julián presses a soft kiss to the crown of your head and you look up at him. Winking, you kiss his jaw and he smiles at you. “I’m so glad we found each other again,” he says and you smile. “Me too, this time we should avoid losing each other,” you say with a small laugh.
Julián chuckles, “I’m not counting on losing you again, you’ll probably be stuck with me from now on.” “Juli, there’s no one else I would probably be stuck with, no one is like you,” you honestly reply. “And no one is like you, mariposa,” he replies. He kisses you softly and you snuggle closer to him, your eyes are still trained on the screen but you feel him reach for your hand and give it a light squeeze.

Lucia "Silent Killer" Szabova Highlights
By: Art of MMA
With Kayla Harrison and Wang Cong signed, if there was any woman I'd tell the UFC to sign to add some gas to the 125 or 135 lb division this would be her.
Fighting out of Slovakia, Lucia Szabová (7-0) is the most exciting bantamweight prospect out there at the moment. A former Thai fighter, Szabova is a special type of talent we rarely get at 135lbs. She is putting away with relative ease and some extra flavor. Head kicks, armbars, etc. Even at the lowest ranks, that's pretty rare for women's bantamweight. The 26 year old just got back from having her first child and it doesn't look like she's lost much of a step, stopping her opponent by 3rd round armbar. I hope she stays active and we get to see her take a step up in competition soon.
Szabova will face off with Spain's Aitana Álvarez (6-5) at OKTAGON 59 this Saturday (July 20).
