Completely off topic but Kurt absolutely is a big part of the furry community he just shows up to conventions as himself and takes pictures with people, some people have made OCS based off of him and he loves it it's so nice to see people who want to look like him. It gets to the point he becomes an influencer among furriers entirely on accident by just existing and being nice and queer positive. He shows off all the saint Bernards at the monastery where he lives (cause he literally lives at a swiss monastery that saves tourists in the mountains, they probably were one of the OGs who bred the dog in the first place) sometimes he has 3 am live streams where he bakes bread for the monastery and local homeless shelter and answers questions about mutants.
His sister and her husband have to take him to the big US cons once he starts getting invited cause the US is huge and scary to even consider navigating for short fuzzy Europeans like him. Rogue and Gambit just kinda shrug there shoulders about it. I feel like rogue is a bit weirded out by furries at first cause all she knew was the sex stuff but gets used to it quickly. Starts calling furries "care bears" cause of the big cute costumes and how huggy they are. Gambit doesn't mind but it's not really his thing. "Gambit seen weirder shit on Bourbon Street and nobody seems to care about dat. Don't get why people think these Disney world rejects are creepy." He uses the opportunity to get some new bedroom toys when they have to chauffeur him around to a con. Also they get essentially a free hotel room through Kurt so they can fuck off and have their own vacation in the city while he's doing con stuff.
Kurt took beast with him one time but poor guy got overwhelmed. People liked him so much he had to duck out. "So many requests for hugs! And dates...I'm not used to humans not screaming and running from me...what do I do with all these numbers all these people are expecting me to call them!!!" He finds the super science nerd side of the furry fandom though and is just like "my people". He does not understand half of the lingo but starts making regular appearances with Kurt.
One day they accidentally run into jubilee at one on the new york cons. She tries to play it off that she's here for a friend but she's literally carrying a bag with paw gloves. Eventually she caves and is just like "ok I watched too much Disney's robin hood growing up...."

Soooooo........
Compared to this "normal" stuff that the Catholic Church (mainly) does, suddenly the Luce thing seems normal.....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"St. Benedictus," at Muri Abbey in Switzerland: A "Catacomb Saint" whose body was originally exhumed from the Roman catacombs in 1681; it was then consecrated, decorated, and taken to Switzerland to be displayed as the holy relic of St. Benedictus.
During the 16th-17th centuries, many remains such as these were taken from the Roman Catacombs and were then transformed into "Catacomb Saints" that were ultimately sold to various parishes throughout Europe. The Church claimed that these "saints" were the genuine remains of early Christian martyrs (i.e. the Christians who were persecuted/killed by the Romans during the 2nd-4th centuries CE) though these conclusions have been widely disputed and the true identities of the remains are still unknown.
The "saints" were often decorated with other purportedly genuine holy artifacts, as well. In some cases, a glass vial/reliquary containing dehydrated blood would be displayed alongside the body, and it was claimed that this was in fact the blood of the martyr in question.
Tumblr media
A Flask of Dehydrated Blood in the Bejeweled Hand of "Saint Munditia," at the Church of St. Peter in Munich: This skeleton (possibly dated to the 4th-6th centuries CE) was exhumed from the Roman Catacombs and placed on display in 1675.
Some "saints" were given swords or crowns, while others were posed on elaborate thrones and/or dressed in special garments. Such relics were often given as "proof" of the saint's identity.
"Catacomb Saints" were typically purchased by parishes, where the remains were displayed and venerated. It is believed that many of these remains were purchased through the donations of local parishioners, even in relatively poor communities (for various and probably obvious reasons). Before being placed on display, the bones would be cleaned and prepared, and then a thin layer of gauze and/or wax would be applied throughout the skeleton in order to aid in articulation and allow the body to be posed, then meticulously gilded, bejeweled, draped in silk or lace, and/or fitted with a suit of armor. Sometimes these relics were decorated with artificial "gems" that were actually made from glass, but many were also decorated with real gemstones and precious metals -- at Salem Abbey in Germany, for example, more than a thousand genuine diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and amethysts were acquired for the decoration of several "Catacomb Saints" that had been purchased by the parish.
"Catacomb Saints" were very popular throughout Europe, and though many were later lost or destroyed, some have been preserved. Most of these remaining "saints" are still kept within the same parishes that originally purchased them, where they have been on display for centuries.
Tumblr media
"St. Pancratius" on Display in Wil, Switzerland: The skeleton shown here was originally decorated in the style of a Roman soldier in 1672, and the more elaborate plate armor was then added at some point in the 1700s.
Tumblr media
"Saint Valentinus," from Waldsassen Basilica in Germany: One of several different "Catacomb Saints" located in Waldsassen, this relic of "St. Valentinus" is clothed in an ornate deacon's cassock and gold-trimmed biretta in an effort to express the divine/priestly station of the saint himself.
I find it really fascinating how "Catacomb Saints" always seem to have this incredibly unsettling and yet strangely beautiful aesthetic. There's just so much contrast and so many layers of irony in this phenomenon: the fact that this practice combines the sacred (i.e. spiritual transcendence) with the profane (i.e. material wealth) which could, in some ways, constitute a transgression against the very god that these relics are said to honor; the fact that this is all part of a religious tradition that places so much emphasis on the transcendent nature of the human soul (while largely dismissing the physical body as little more than a token of our temporary existence within the imminent world) and yet here we have these skeletons, utterly devoid of any soul and reduced to nothing more than imminent remains, being actively venerated as holy relics; or the fact that these individuals likely lived and died in poverty, as anonymous bodies, and have only been granted wealth and fame through the anonymity of their deaths, once wealth and fame were essentially unusable to them.
But I think that the most fascinating irony here is just the fact that each body likely belonged to some random person whose bones were fished out of the catacombs in Rome specifically so that the remains could be consecrated/decorated and displayed as emblems of virtue and righteousness, and yet, despite the fact that their body has now been consecrated, exalted, venerated and immortalized as a sacred figure within the world's single largest faith, each person's actual identity has still been entirely forgotten; their now very famous, very widely venerated body is also somehow fated to remain utterly nameless and anonymous forever.
I think this is especially poignant from the perspective of a forensic/bio-archaeologist, because this is the inverse of what we normally strive to accomplish: we take human remains that have previously been cast aside into anonymity and attempt to restore their individuality and their true identities, essentially recognizing their inherent value as individuals/human beings...but for the "Catacomb Saints," the identities of the bodies have been scrubbed clean and replaced with broad iconography and symbolic value; they lose their individuality and humanity in order to function as vessels for spiritual meaning.
Their value is contingent upon the belief that they are more than human.
Tumblr media
"St. Friedrich," from Melk, Austria: These remains arrived at the church in Melk as a gift from the Habsburg Empress Maria Theresa.
Tumblr media
"St. Konstantinius," on display in Rohrshach, Switzerland: Posed as if reclining, this skeleton also grasps an ornate golden palm frond in its right hand; palm fronds are often depicted within Christian iconography, where they are generally used as a symbol of martyrdom.
Tumblr media
Another image of the palm frond depicted with the body of "St. Konstantinius."
There are just so many different aspects to investigate with the whole "Catacomb Saints" phenomenon and absolutely every one of those aspects is fascinating, imo. It's just one of those topics that has never really left the back of my mind over the years, and I frequently come back to it.
Tumblr media
"St. Maximus," from Bürglen, Switzerland: Displayed in a suit of armor, with a golden palm frond clasped in his hand.
[Most of the images included in this post come from a book called Heavenly Bodies: Cult Treasures and Spectacular Saints from the Catacombs, by Paul Koudounaris. It's a really fantastic read, with many additional details and photographs of this phenomenon. You can also go here to browse through more images/descriptions, and an additional article on the topic can be found here.]

Jamaica - Commemorative of the Extinction of Slavery
Adolphe Duperly’s lithograph titled Commemorative of the Extinction of Slavery on the First of August 1838 (fig. I.1) records the apparent blaze of jubilation with which the city of Kingston inaugurated the period discussed in this book: the reign of Queen Victoria (1837–1901). The slow and painful process of emancipation had finally brought an end to slavery, the condition of most Jamaicans for the previous two centuries. By historical coincidence, emancipation occurred at the beginning of the reign of a monarch almost five thousand miles away.
Victoria’s special status in the Jamaican imaginary is recalled in a Bruckins song performed in 1887, on the fiftieth anniversary of her accession:
Jubalee, jubalee This is the year of jubalee Augus’ mornin’ come again (×2) Augus’ mornin’ come again This is the year of jubalee Queen Victoria give we free.2
Tumblr media
Victoria, queen of a worldwide empire that had included Jamaica since 1655, had been crowned just a month earlier, on June 28, 1838.1 Victoria’s name would become identified with the dominant ideologies, social codes, and aesthetic tastes of the second half of the nineteenth century, even beyond the wide reach of her titular domain.
The long period of her reign has attained the status of a historical unit principally because of the emblematic character of the Queen herself. Victoria was to be remembered by black Jamaicans as the Queen who set them free, despite enslaved Jamaicans’ long history of resistance (most recently the Christmas rebellions of 1831–1832) that had precipitated the passing of the Emancipation Act and the fact that the legislation predated her reign

Let us continue! A w A
The song of season 1 overall: Burn to a Cinder by Epica.
Now that Taimi finally met Vivs face to face, she got the feeling of wanting to protect this… adult asura male… who just was in a war against an Elder Dragon, and won. … What.,? Why did Taimi have a memory of him needing protection?
First episode: Flame and Frost. This where Vivs helps out Rox and Braham when no one else would. And find out about different races joining forces to bring forth bigger threat? Molten Alliance.
Song: Take My Love by E-Rotic
Taimi simply was doing her school work as well as looking into some Molten Alliance stuff. Apparently the Commander was getting into some action already. She at times woke up from her thoughts realising that she was thinking about him again.
Next Episode: Sky Pirates. Aetherblades suddenly attack at the Dragon Bash Celebration, and Councillor gets killed. Vivs meets New people and they together start investigating who is behind this murder.
Song: Nephilim by Abingdon Boys School
And again the Commander is a big help in Solving who’s behind the murder. Taimi’s dark little Angel of death!
Next episode: Clockwork Chaos. Here the one behind everything is revealed to be a sylvari called Scarlet. She ruins the the Queen’s Jubalee by taking over the clockwork guards and killing a lot of innocent bystanders.
Song: Yava! By Babymetal
Hearing about Scarlet being behind everything got Taimi highly interested in her. Obsessed even. She was a sylvari but had already achieved so much as an engineer. And she was free to do whatever she wanted. Life Taimi could only dream of at the moment. This is where Scarlet became more interesting than the Commander.
Next Episode: Tower of Nightmares. The one where Kas, Jory, and the Commander go investigate the mysterious toxic tower in Kessex Hills.
Song: One Last Time by Arch Enemy
Taimi is nearly obsessively studying Scarlet along with her school work admiring her lifestyle. And machinery. She is still following what the Commander is doing, simply because he is also involved with Scarlet.
Next Episode: Battle for Lion's Arch. The one where the Commander and new friends battle against the Twisted Marionette and deal with the assault at the Lion’s Arch.
Song: Money And Fame by Scorpions
Taimi finally met Vividatt face to face and this fueled even more her motivation to get to see Scarlet as well. But she was unreachable, since she fleed after she got her results from the Marionette battle. Taimi figured she’d get to Scarlet eventually if she stuck with the Commander’s group, but after the attack of Lion’s Arch, Scarlet got killed by this group and Taimi got scolded by Zojja for wandering off without a permission. The Commander didn’t entirely understand why she wanted to meet with Scarlet… but wasn’t too far off in assumption of it being to gain reputation as highly intelligent engineer.
*sigh* Everything goes all wrong!

The opening pages of Amos Paul Kennedy’s students’ book “Mistakes,” produced at Penland School of Craft in 1995. Kennedy, a printer and bookbuilder with Jubalee Press, visited UNC Greensboro as a visiting printer in 1993. Previous Special Collections Librarian Emilie Mills was so impressed with his work that she immediately initiated a standing order with Mr. Kennedy and asked him to make Jackson Library the home of the press's archive.
