JRWI Art Style HC

AKA how I imagine the visuals in my head. 

I consume a lot of non-visual (or otherwise rely on mental images to an extent) media. Which means I suffer from ‘mental image for each character’s appearance is taken from completely different artists, it’s like watching the TMNT series cross-over movie in there’.  But I thought it’d be a cool experiment to see what art-style I’d emulate if I was adapting each campaign as an animated series.

I barely have my own art-style so I’m not trying this myself, but I’d love to hear about the mental images you have in the replies!

The Fated:

that 80-90s anime style

fated has very strong classic-fantasy-meets-synthwave vibes

really hard to explain but look at any experimental fantasy animated movie from that era and you’ll know what I mean

very thin lines, and characters rarely bend character models

whilst not exactly the design in my head, the image above is definitely how I’d draw Br’aad in this style

Convergence:

that angular style that a ton of kids/tweens shows from the late 2000-10′s were in

real funky, and stuff can go off-model for comedic effect, whilst still maintaining the ability to go serious and dark

think Ben10: Omniverse and Mystery Incorporated 

Riptide:

Avatar: The Last Airbender really demonstrates a great ability to switch between bright and cartoony, and structured and serious when needed which I think a visual adaptation of any JRWI series would need

A:TLA has the particularly high-energy and brightness that fits Riptide in particular

RotTMNT. If you have Netflix, Watch the RotTMNT movie. Phenomenal style and absolutely god-tier fight scenes.

Stylised, highly saturated, energetic, street-art and comic inspired, and absolutely unafraid to push designs r e a l  far
