I think Judgement has a lot of potential to become my favourite Patron campaign because where all the other campaigns stumble across a loose fitting (maybe not quite as loose in PD) found family trope in the PCs, Judgement seems to very intentionally be doing it and it's working very well.

Buck is a father and Bebo has said he intends to just have Buck be a dad to everyone in silly and serious ways.

Paeon, while not explicitly taking on any one specific role, is a doctor, and a caregiver, and they like to go along with everyone else's ideas no matter how silly or bad intentioned they are. They have been bonding with the party in such a sweet way with all three of them (Fly fishing with Buck, going along with Mel's handshake joke, having fun with "Jaguire" Joe to the point that they just forgot about their plan with the spikes and just kept painting together). They give the vibes of a parent who cares a lot about their kids and wants to try and re-explore with them as they grow up.

Mel and Jaguar feel very much like siblings, even if that'd be weird cuz of how Jaguar's been treating Mel. I think this was especially emphasized in the most recent episode when they had a fight and then really started to open up to each other, especially with Mel actually paying attention to Jaguar for the first time and Jaguar trusting her with the stuff he considers to be his greatest secret. They feel like an older sister who gets annoyed by her younger brother but really does care about him, and the younger brother who just has a lot of cool stuff they're interested in that nobody else in the family really cares about. When Mel started actually listening to Jaguar he opened up to her instantly, and when Jaguar took a moment to be a little more grounded for Mel's sake, she saw that she could actually take him seriously.

Anyways yeah I love them they're a great family and I hope they really lean into it more.

“I’m right here” - Mel and Buck Barker ❗️❗️ THE FATHER DAUGHTER EVER!

“ What, Cause you have a family to go back to?” Mel sneers at Buck Barker, The man in front of her she had grown to love know, Her father friend.

“Kid,” Buck starts but he doesn’t get very far.

“No. You don't get to call me that anymore. I’m not your kid, I never was and I never will be. YOu have a family, a wife at home with a baby on the way, You didn't need me to be your daughter, You have a kid. I was just your practice, right? I could never figure out why you stuck around, after I tried so hard to push you away. But guess what? I’m an independent woman who doesn't need you to hold me.” She huffs. It's cold, and she flushes light pink. She seems to be the only one who's cold. Buck Barker is warm.

“Mel, just 'cause I got my own kin, don’t mean I don’t see ya as part of the crew. You been my youngin’ since I met ya and had to set YOUR folks straight.” His voice is smooth, honey like almost. Buck's skin is still its warm honey like tone, a slight sunburn kisses his shoulders.

“You didn’t have to do that! I didn't need you to! You don't need to save me all the time!” Mel yells. She's good at that. In fact, it's one of her best skills. Yelling. Buck is not good at yelling.

“But I do it anyhow, don’t I? I save yer hide all the time 'cause I want to. 'Cause I give a hoot 'bout ya.” He says it in this sickeningly sweet singsong voice. It makes her sick. The care in his voice, it sticks to the roof of her mouth and she hates it. She hates everything about it. She wants to say something, to argue with him.

But she cant think of the words to fight him. She can’t think of the words to even speak back. So she just sits there. Dumbfounded, angry, all these emotions she’s so use to feeling but not use to dealing with.

And suddenly, all this anger and hatred turns to sadness. Mel’s alone. She’s always been alone since the beginning of her awful life. And she’s cold. She’s oh so cold, and everything hurts as her bones ache. It’s dark and she can feel herself start to crumble.

And it’s cold.

And then it’s warm. Unimaginably warm. And Mel dares to open her eyes, and is met with the sight of a dirty white wife beater, and hit with the smell of cologne as the warmth seeps into her bones. All of a sudden she hurts a lot less.

“I’m right here darlin. Always have been, always will be.”

“Thanks, Dad.” Mel murmurs as she buries herself into his arms, and buck thinks he might just cry.

God i love Judgement sm. My favorite characters in jrwi right now. Rolled for episode 5 is my favorite thing ever. Losing my mind at them beat boxing for most of the episode, and suddenly I am inspired again to pick up beatboxing.

Also, I fucking love the dynamic between girldad Buck Barker and orphan Mel. Heartwarmed. I love her sm. So glad Milo is in this campaign. It's so fun having a campaign like this with four pcs!!

Well, how'd ye do? The name's Buck Barker, and I hold dreams of becoming a fine bard or musician or whatever you call it in your part of life. I don't exactly reckon any of my friends blogs, or my wife's if she's on here, so if anybody happened to know that'd be just lovely.
