I want to see (you) Sorina childhood friends au part 2
Erina becomes a pretty familiar face in the diner. The patrons think she’s cute and Souma keeps cooking for her. Tamako absolutely adores Erina and makes no effort to hide the fact. Her and Kazusato love the little girl.
Erina starts bringing Hisako along and introduces her as her aide. Hisako is a little shocked that Erina spends so much time in such a common setting, but all doubts are gone once she tries Jouichirou’s food. Some doubts return when she fully realizes just how chaotic the Yukihira family can be.
Eventually, Erina starts to cook in the kitchen too and Souma holds his seniority over her. She pouts and bets she’ll already be a better cook but it’s her first time in a live setting but she quickly gets overwhelmed by the pace. Souma calms her down with the hand slap and takes over.
Hisako is annoyed that Souma deigns to assume he can do better than her Lady but quickly takes it back when she sees him work. Erina even admits it that yes, she can cook food better, but Souma has actual kitchen experience. Plating, serving, working under pressure, customer relations, he surpasses her in all of those. But make this a 5-year-old speak version.
Hisako sees what she means and both of them carefully watch Souma perform in the kitchen and the diner, swearing that they’ll surpass him. Soon, when Jo is teaching Erina something, Souma talks to Hisako alone and they get to know each other. Hisako is more respectful to him since Erina is friendly towards him and his family.
Souma asks how long she’s been friends with Erina and Hisako denies this, stating that she is merely Erina’s aide. One such as her is not worthy enough to be her friend. Souma finds this super weird cause he and Erina are friends. And every time Erina talks about her, she always says that Hisako’s her friend, though she wishes she’d be closer. Hisako is shocked and Souma encourages her to stand beside her as a friend instead of behind her as just an aide.
“Oi, Erina. Is Hisako your friend?” “What are you talking about, of course she is!” “Ha! I told you.” Souma tells Hisako in triumph. From that day on, Hisako and Erina become proper friends. As do Souma and Hisako, with her being eternally grateful that he gave her that push. The three go on to be a proper trio.
Souma has been to the Nakiri mansion at this point and met Alice.
just when things are going great for everyone, Azami comes in and begins Erina’s “education.” He cuts off contact with her friends and Souma gets worried that he hasn’t heard from her in a while and reached out to Hisako. Hisako tells him what’s happening, Souma tells his dad, and Jo tells Senzaemon, who promptly kicks out Azami from the Nakiri family. They’re all around 6 now.
Erina returns to the Yukihira restaurant and things seem normal again. Until she tastes a dish Souma cooked. Azami’s conditioning is still freshly ingrained in her and so she’s overly harsh to his food, almost cruel. In fact, for a 6-year-old, it is cruel. Souma starts crying because he doesn’t know why his best friend is mean to him. This gets Erina to cry because she made Souma cry and she’s really sorry. Hisako is crying because her best friends are fighting and crying and Jo and Tamako have to deal with a trio of crying 6-year-olds.
Tamako is consoling Erina while Jo explains to Souma and Hisako what Azami did to Erina in a way that’d be appropriate for 6-year-olds. Souma and Hisako naturally conclude that Azami is a jerk and a butt head and hatch a plan to make Erina feel better
Tamako is comforting Erina when Souma and Hisako come back into the kitchen and announce they’re going to cook something for her so she feels better cause her dads a jerk
they keep making dishes for Erina to try and she starts out still somewhat mean but Erina dials it down each time with Tamako’s help until she’s giving them honest critiques and advice. The “failed” dishes go out to the customers in the diner as an “experimental” gamble like Tamako does but each one is a massive hit for pallets not as refined as Erina’s.
each dish is better than the last one and by the end, all three of the kids are smiling and having a good time. Erina even calls it delicious. Souma and Hisako are happy that Erina is feeling better but he says her “delicious” doesn’t count for his goal since he had Hisako’s help. He wants Erina to say his food is delicious all on his own.
with the combined efforts of her two best friends never giving up on her, therapy, the support her family, reconnecting with Alice, and the Yukihira family, Erina is able to heal from the wounds Azami inflicted. Though a scar still remains.

Post-Graduation Headcanons
Early Careers
Shinomya offers Souma the head chef position at his newest restaurant, Shino’s New York. After a few years in Manhattan, he moves to Paris and opens a reprise of Restaurant Yukihira.
Doujima hires Megumi as his second in command and grooms her into the next head of the Tōtsuki Resorts empire. She divides her time between Tokyo and the newest Tōtsuki luxury hotel in Honolulu.
Immediately after graduation, Takumi returns home to Tuscany to further his mastery of Italian cuisine. A year later, not wanting to be bested by Souma, he moves to New York and opens Ristorante Aldini only a few blocks away from Shino’s.
Following in the footsteps of her idol, Saiba Jouichiro, Erina spends her first few years after graduation cooking in all of the world’s finest restaurants. She also acts as a guest judge for various cooking shows and regularly writes articles for elite culinary magazines.
Right after graduation, Alice goes to Copenhagen (with Ryo in tow, of course) and opens her first avant-garde restaurant, Deconstruct Denmark. It becomes an overnight success and she immediately starts working towards a three-star rating.
As a graduation present, Alice buys Ryo the pub where they met and he proceeds to turn it into a world class eatery. Also, thanks to Alice’s constant meddling, he becomes Instagram famous for both his cooking and his intense workout routine.
Instead of opening a restaurant right away, Hayama accepts an executive position at the Haubi Food Corporation, working at the right hand of Sendawara Natsume. After saving up enough money to make sure Jun and the Shiomi Lab will be taken care of forever, he opens a restaurant in London and a research facility in Dubai. He’s the first member of the 92nd generation to become a self-made millionaire.
Hoping to combine her passions for food and medicine, Hisako becomes a culinary consultant for the World Health Organization. She ends up pursuing an advanced degree in nutritional science and is poised to become the first member of the 92nd generation to earn a PhD. (Erina is sooooo proud)
When Takumi heads to New York, Isami takes over as head chef of Trattoria Aldini. After a few years, he decides to open a vineyard. He now splits his time between the family restaurant and his budding winery.
Ikumi moves to LA and opens a casual beach-side eatery that specializes in donburi and meat-centered snacks. The restaurant becomes quite trendy and Ikumi is constantly asked by her customers to act in indie films and pose in photo shoots.

nii-sama
title: nii-sama
here we go again. souma thinks, this can only end in tears.
ooo
Souma must have been gone for too long.
“How’s about it Yukihira-kun? What d’you say to a friendly shokugeki, for old time’s sake? Saiba versus Yukihira hm?”
How else could you explain the guy who wanted to marry Nakiri turning out to be her older brother instead?
He thought Totsuki already numbed him to surprise, but hey you learn something new every day. He thought he took it pretty well when he learned Saiba Asahi was his old man’s illegitimate child, but he turned out to be Nakamura-senpai’s instead. That’s irony for you.
That also meant that when he came over to the Nakiri estate, after being invited to cook for them with his dad by the former headmaster and the Bookmaster (’Of course we had to invited you. Only a year since you’ve graduated Totsuki and Chef Shinomiya has already entrusted you with management of the SHINO’s expansion. Like I told you before, I keep my eye on promising young chefs.), he had to see his mug at the luncheon table.
‘Yo.’
He doesn’t know what face he was making then, but he had thought they actually got married, before the former Noir chef laughed in his face and explained everything.
Darn it old man! You have to start telling me these things.
Somehow or the other, he finds himself on the receiving end of a shokugeki challenge.
“I thought I was the one who was supposed to be cooking for you guys, and what are we supposed to bet anyway huh Asahi?” Give him some slack for being a bit ticked off for being kept in the dark.
“Meh, you’re not cute at all. Shouldn’t you be calling me aniki, or better yet nii-chan?” Souma actually shudders in disgust. Asahi sighs sufferingly. “Erina-hime calls me nii-sama. Woe is me. What’s my cute little sister doing with a punk like you?”
Souma always thought the Nakiri family was weird, but this takes the cake.
“We both know you’d never refuse, but how about this,” Asahi pulls out and twirls his dad’s old knife. “I still have Jouichiro’s knife. If you win, you get it back. If I win,” He tosses and catches the knife, slashing it menacingly in front of him, “You never appear before Erina again.”
Souma narrows his eyes coolly.
“We’re basically one-to-one. Let me see how much you’ve grown after a year or so of traveling. I’m no slouch either. You might regret pushing me to find my own taste. If you can’t even beat me, how can you hope to satisfy the god tongue? I won’t give away my precious baby sister to someone like that.”
“How interesting,” Nakiri Mana interjects with a delighted smile.”And how lucky for you that the perfect judges just so happen to be here, members of the Nakiri family and of course, Chef Saiba.” His old man looks cheesed for the chance to see his sons duking it out again. Old man Senzaemon and Nakiri’s kaa-chan look excited, even as they maintain their dignified air. Nakiri Soe and Nakiri Leonora are judges he’s familiar with from past shokugekis but they’ve already proven their impartiality. Meanwhile, Nakamura-senpai looks like he just swallowed a rancid lemon.
Isn’t it just perfect that the Nakiris were out with Arato and Kurokiba to pick up groceries and tea at that exact moment? Wow, obviously this wasn’t planned at all.
Souma would have accepted anyway, but there’s no way he was backing down after that.
He flicks his bandana with a ferocity more reminiscent of Kurokiba. “You’re on.”
“Good eyes.”
ooo
It’s close, with alternating votes.
3-2
His dad and Nakiri’s kaa-chan vote for Asahi, while Nakiri Senzaemon and Nakiri Soe vote for him.
It comes down to Nakamura-senpai.
Looking like he absolutely doesn’t want to do this, he pronounces the winner, “Yukihira Souma.”
Souma breathes out.
Asahi plays at being disappointed. “Well, I guess that’s it then,” he says with a tousle of his hair. “Go on and take it. A shokugeki is a shokugeki.”
“Like I said,” Souma says exasperated, “That knife is yours. You’re Saiba Jouichirou’s son too. You have as much a right to it as I do. You’re the older son aren’t ya? You won it against dad fair and square.”
Looks like he can still shock the other chef.
“Well if that’s how it is,” Asahi smirks like a person with a plan come together, “Since I couldn’t beat you, I can’t very well tell you to stay away from Erina-hime now can I?”
For some reason, a person who doesn’t seem to take anything seriously suddenly adopts a serious tone. “You once said that I wouldn’t be able to make Erina-hime happy.”
Where is he going with this? “Uh, yeah.”
“Since you won, make sure you make her happy in my place, the happiest she’s ever been. I won’t accept any less.” Suddenly, the joker’s grin is back. “Try not to be too much of a disappointment Yukihira-kun.”
What else can Souma say to that? “Osu.”
“Yukihira-kun?! Nii-sama? What exactly is going on here?”
Trust Nakiri to have perfect timing.
“Here Nakiri, try some of this.”
“I can’t Yukihira-kun. I’m holding the bags.”
“Erina-sama! I should’ve been the one holding those!”
“Hisako, I couldn’t possibly let you carry all of this.”
“Which is why I said you should have just left it all to Ryou-kun!”
“Alice, my aide isn’t my pack-mule.”
“Never mind that, just say ‘ahh’ Nakiri. I bet this’ll be the one to make you say delicious!”
“Wh-what? Yukihira-kun!”
As Asahi watches his adoptive younger brother hand-feed his flustered younger sister, surrounded by all their family, he thinks they’ll be just fine.

More aus where Soma’s dad properly adopts Asahi and he grows up happily as Soma’s older brother (and with a mom that doesn’t suck for at least a couple of years)
I’m currently searching, but if anyone knows of any fics of this nature, send them my way.

Dojima is with Erina, and he tells her about the thing he found out about Saiba. While Jouichiro was travelling around the world, he met the Saiba kid more than 10 years ago in the American continent. Jouichiro treated him like his own child, and Saiba is also the only one Jouichiro accepted as his student. Dojima says that every time Jouichiro goes to America, he made sure to see Saiba. His name is Asahi, but he started to use the name Saiba. Asahi’s first objective is to defeat Soma who became the first seat of the elite ten and inherits Jouichiro’s bloodline.
Asahi’s goal isn’t to become the first seat himself, but he only wants the fact that he defeated Soma, and after that, he wants to marry Erina, and devote all his cooking to her. Asahi insists that he’s the only one that can please Erina’s tongue, and Soma fights back and argues that he’s the one who needs Erina’s tongue. Erina is looking for Soma, who probably has met Asahi already, and at that moment, she overhears Asahi and Soma’s conversation, and she misinterprets the conversation, thinking that they are battling for her in a romantic sense. Soma accepts Suzuki’s challenge.

Title: A Different Setting Fandom: Shokugeki no Soma Category: Genderswap, AU Ship (if any): Doujima Gin  x Saiba Jouichiro Summary: Having two fathers was nothing to fifteen year-old Yukihira Soma. For one thing, it seems that she was at an advantage for it. Her biological father, Yukihira Joichiro, runs a diner with her as his assistant, and her other father, Dojima Gin, is a chef at a resort, so it only goes to show that the girl of fifteen would be so dedicated to cooking, that she would make a living out of it.
Main Idea: While I was in the middle of writing Fem Soma Oneshots in ff.net, I got this inspiration and imagined Soma being raised by both Jouichiro and Gin as their own, with Soma taking up the last name of Yukihira. She still remains oblivious of what their reputations are at this point.
“I have to say, Soma-chan is pretty skilled at cooking. I’ve been hearing from Kurase-san that no one could beat her in Home Economics classes,” Tomita commented at the counter table where Joichiro was working.
The man laughed delighted at the compliments towards his daughter, “Yeah, if only she’d be more ladylike, then I could rest easy. But that’s not the case.” He mused. “She’s a bit brazen, but a good kid, nonetheless. Gin and I will never let her get married unless the boy can match up to us,”
Tomita laughed, “That’s a tall order, Yukihira-san,” Tomita said, “The boy will have to prepare himself for the sake of your approvals,”
Joichiro sniggered, “Well, Soma’s own standards will prevent her from choosing a wimp anyways, and I’d like a challenge other than her and her other father once in a while,”
As the two talked a bit more while he was cooking, Soma came rushing down to the restaurant from their house door with a gleeful smile. “Dad! Father’s on the phone~!” she said while holding up a cute stuffed polar bear with a diamond studded bracelet on its wrist, with a tag that says, ‘For Soma-chan, From Kuma-san~’
“Where did you get that?” Joichiro wondered.
“Just now. The delivery guy brought it through the back entrance. I just opened the package after Father called. He wants to talk to you,”
With a sigh, Joichiro nodded. “Alright. Place the polar bear somewhere and take over for me for a while,” he ordered as he went to the back of the shop where the door to the second floor stairs, which is their house, was at.
With a nod, Soma placed the polar bear back in the box where she got it and went on to take over for her father for a few minutes while he talks to her other father.
Tomite smiled, “Soma-chan, your other father is rarely home, isn’t he?”
Soma nodded. “He’s home a few days a month, but he never forgets to send a letter and a gift in every occasion where he can’t make it. On our birthdays, he makes it a point to come home right away. He’s quite dutiful when it comes to traditional occasions too~” she said with a smile. “He works at a resort as a cook, so he can only take days off during lean season of the resort he works at, but still, he’s the best,” she praised.
“That’s right, the yukata that you wore at the last festival was from him, wasn’t it?” Tomite asked, remembering the expensive yukata that was sent to his place by mistake, and had sent it to the Yukihira residence soon after. “You have good parents, Soma-chan,”
Soma nodded. “Yup! I couldn’t be any luckier~!”
“Seriously, a stuffed polar bear with a diamond studded bracelet attached to it for her? You spoil Soma too much, Gin,” Joichiro chided. Despite the brazen attitude of his daughter, she still has a girly side, namely, adoring cute things. “This defeats the purpose of raising her normally.”
Dojima Gin chuckled at the other line, “You’re one to talk. I don’t think having four hundred and eighty-eight cooking matches and concocting ridiculous and gross experimental dishes are considered normal,”
“Four hundred and eighty-nine.” Joichiro corrected. “We just had another one this afternoon.”
“It would be stupid to ask who won.” Gin mused. “By the way, there’s a reason I called at this hour,”
“I hope there is. You usually call home on Fridays. What is it?”
“Has Soma voiced out to you what she plans to do after middle school?”
Joichiro went silent for a moment. “No, not yet. But she seems to be indulged in cooking nowadays…”
“Joichiro, I’ve treated Soma like my own for three years now, and know that I want the best for her too. Isn’t it time for her to go to Totsuki?” he asked. “She has already missed middle school there.”
The other man sighed as he contemplated it. “You know I can’t make that decision for her, but I don’t want her to go there unprepared. Totsuki serves as a rude awakening for ordinary students.”
“But Soma is not ordinary, is she?” Gin countered. “You and I both know that she has limitless potential, just like you have. Just ask her, and I will prepare the necessary procedures if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“Hey Gin, no coattails.” Joichiro warned. “The last thing we want her to think is that she only got in because of you.”
“As if Senzaemon-san would allow it. No, I will just have to let her take the schedule of Erina’s test,”
“Hey, pitting my daughter against God’s Tongue is a bit evil.”
“Not against. Erina is tasked to oversee examinations, not compete with the examinees,” Gin corrected. “She’ll be well taken care of. Someone is offering you to travel again, and maybe it’s time for you to do so while Soma is away,”
“Assuming she passes, then let’s talk,” he negotiated. “I don’t have to leave three days after the examination, but if she fails, I’ll send her to a normal school afterwards.” He bargained.
“It’s a deal then.”
“No. It’s a bet.”
“Fine.” Gin agreed.
But Jouichiro was not done yet. “But you’re going home and you will help me tell her.”
That caught Gin’s curiosity, “Why?”
The other man had to roll his eyes. “This is Soma’s future we are talking about, and you kind of promised that we would drop bombs with her with the two of us present. Don’t escape from this, Mr. Loyal Dog.”
“Alright, Mr. Stray Cat.” Gin replied teasingly.
“High school choices?” Soma asked Kurase during their Home Ec class.
Kurase nodded. “Have you thought of a school to go to, Yukihira-chan?”
Soma hummed as she thought of her future. What did she want to do the most? High school was going to be another academic drawl for three years, but after that, what would she do? She inwardly sighed and smiled. “I’m going to inherit the restaurant of course!” she said gleefully. Of course, that’s what she’s always been talking about ever since she turned three and had inherited her father’s interest in cooking. Now that she was a teenager…she wasn’t really sure about that right now.
“Must be nice, having two dads who are good at cooking like yours,” Koganei sighed. “You’ll be great for sure!”
Soma simply smiled at that, but inside her, she felt different. Sure she loves her dads to bits, but she feels like she doesn’t stand a chance against her parents. She was afraid to admit it, but she was insecure about her cooking skills. With the two of them who could beat her in cooking without breaking a sweat, she was not sure that she could achieve beating them with just being a normal student.
“Then why not try the entrance exams at Totsuki?” another one of Soma’s classmates suggested.
That caught Soma’s attention. “What’s that?”
Her classmate rolled her eyes at her cluelessness. It was no secret that a lot of girls harbored a kind of jealousy towards Soma because of her cooking skills, but they quickly dissipated the moment they got to know the girl who had no interest of using her skills to seduce boys. There was even one time when a playboy had tried to hit on her, and Soma had used him as a guinea pig for her gross food experiments to drive him away. Add to that, her kind but blunt personality had endeared her to younger students and her classmates simply because she was an open book and had no ulterior motives (if it does not involve her experiments).
“Totsuki is the best culinary school in Japan! Getting into that school is pretty hard, but if it’s you, Yukihira-san, you would definitely pass.” She commented.
Soma contemplated the choice. She could go, but then she would be leaving her dad behind at home. Her dad was alone as it is with her father not being present most of the time because of his job at the resort he works at. Then again, he did overhear his parents talking about how her dad was in-demand overseas, had it not been for her whom he was raising at the moment. Maybe trying to go to a boarding school would ease him up on the workload he has to deal with raising her. Maybe.
Looking back at her classmate, she immediately asked, “Where do I go for an application?”
A few days later, Soma was livid as she cleaned the restaurant sign from the white paint that had been thrown at it merely a few hours before and after kicking out the realtor bitch who dared tarnish the restaurant that Soma and her parents had run for years. She hopes the woman would stay away from her before she has the mind to chop and serve her body to cannibals—‘Whoa! Wait! Too much!’ Soma thought as she caught herself with her thoughts. She should have some respect to cannibals.
Sighing, she didn’t hear her parents arrive at the house.
“Had some trouble?”
Soma’s head turned at the voice of her father and saw that indeed, her father was home, though uncharacteristically so. She also noticed that on her parents’ hands were grocery bags, which meant that Gin was more than eager to cook dinner tonight. “Father! Dad, hey.” She said the last part in a normal tone which ticked Jouichiro off at her teasing. She then remembered that she had a paint thinner and a cloth on her hands and a very white restaurant sign. “It was just a little trouble. I set them straight though. Don’t worry, I cleaned up the restaurant while you were gone.” She added, not really inclined to tell them that the restaurant’s interior was trashed under her watch.
Gin chucked at her tirade. “Take a break. Your dad and I want to tell you something.” He said.
“Oh, good. I have something to tell you guys as well.” Soma said as she carefully went down the ladder. “I want to leave.”
It took the two men to process what she said before they reacted. “WHAT?!”
Soma just looked at them as if they were going nuts. “No need to shout. I’m just leaving.” She said as she proceeded to go inside, not really noticing the fact that a lot of ideas were going on inside the heads of her parents.
In their panic, Gin and Jouichiro started to follow her in the house. “What do you mean you want to leave the house?” Jouichiro demanded.
“Exactly my point.” she said as she reached for her bag and rummaged to grab an envelope from it.
“You…you’re not eloping are you?!” Gin asked. The thought of Soma leaving with a guy sent an overprotective streak about him.
“Eloping?! Who’s the boy Soma? I’ll kill him!” Jouichiro said with a growl, having half the mind to kill whoever made Soma decide on leaving.
Soma stared at her parents as if they had grown two heads. “What? No! To begin with, I have no interest of being in a relationship right now! Stop thinking too far!” she chided and handed them the envelope. “This is why I want to leave the house.”
The two were taken aback by her answer, and Gin took the envelope from her and opened it with Jouichiro looming beside him. When he took out the papers inside, the two were surprised to read the content: Totsuki Culinary Academy Entrance Exams Application Form.
“An application form to Totsuki?” the two of them said in unison.
“Yes.” Soma said and grumbled, “Geez, what is going on with you two? Eloping? I fear the things that run in your heads when I’m concerned.” She muttered.
“You took us by surprise!” Jouichiro argued. “Not once had you said anything about wanting to leave the house before.”
Soma inwardly rolled her eyes at her dad and sat down on the nearby stool by the counter. “Well, now I am.”
Gin, ignoring his husband’s tirade, sighed and placed the papers back in the envelope. “Well, this makes things much easier then.”
This earned him a raised brow from the red-head. “Makes things easier how?”
“Your father was considering going back to working overseas for at least three years. We were contemplating for months whether to send you to a boarding school and closing up the restaurant for the time being. It’s surprising you chose the school where we intended to send you.”
Soma was at a shock about this. So her dad was contemplating on going back overseas travelling and working. “Huh? So you two have been planning on how to get me to leave the restaurant these past few months?”
Jouichiro sighed. “Look at it this way, Soma, we’re not trying to get rid of you.” He said gently. “We figured if I was going to go back overseas, you will at least have a place to stay where you can improve your cooking. Besides, if you attend Totsuki, you will have a good chance in beating one of us or both of us in the future.”
Soma seemed to consider the possibility, just to humor her parents. She had already decided on going there to beat the two of them anyway. “Well…if you put it that way, it makes sense…”
“What made you choose Totsuki in the first place, Soma?” Jouichiro wondered. He could have sworn that he had hidden all traces of him ever going to that school until she was old enough, and Gin knew when to shut his mouth, so where did she hear about the school?
“From a classmate of mine. She said that it’s the best cooking school in the country, so, why not. The only problem is the tuition. It’s three times more expensive than public school.” She said with a troubled sigh. “I was going to talk to the two of you to discuss the fees, but now that you two are clearly on board, I don’t have to take a part-time job.”
Sometimes, Soma’s temporary ‘independent mentality’ showing amazes the two men, despite not knowing at first on how to raise a girl when the two of them were men, and this was one of those times. “You thought ahead that much?” Gin asked, quite proud that at least, Soma was not completely impulsive.
“Of course. How else am I going to pay for it?” Soma replied.
“You know that money is no object to us, Soma,” Gin said as he ruffled her hair, something that Soma both loved and disliked at the same time. “I’ll cover for everything that you will need when you pass.” Soma noticed that her father used when and not if which made her believe that the two of them has enough confidence that she would pass the exams.
Jouichiro scoffed, “Maybe because you actually have no idea how to spend it other than your designer suits…” he muttered.
“Hey, that’s an insult to my tailor.” Gin replied playfully.
“You mean the tailor that kept hitting on you every time you meet?” Soma asked and then turned to her dad, “Insult away Dad,”
“You two…” Gin shook his head with a small smile on his face. “Well then, since we’ve established that you will be preparing for the entrance exams at Totsuki, why don’t I get started on dinner now? Jouichiro, you help me out here.”
“Yes~” Jouichiro replied lazily.
Sighing, Soma stood from her seat and made her way outside. “I’ll continue cleaning up the sign then and get cleaned up after,” she said as she ran towards the door with her parents watching.
When they were sure that Soma was no longer within hearing range, both men heaved a sigh of relief.
“I thought for sure she was going to go ballistic. I’m surprised she applied on her own.” Jouichiro muttered as the two of them headed to the kitchen.
Gin nodded in agreement. “Though it is good that she’s now beginning to consider what she wants to do in the future. Her applying on her own accord is a sign of that.”
“We raised her well, didn’t we?” Jouichiro stated.
“We did our best with her.” Gin agreed. “I just hope she would make it through.”
“She’s our daughter, what’s the worry?”
“You may be right.” Gin said as he went upstairs to get changed into his normal clothes to get started on dinner.
END
Final Comments: At this point, I blanked out. I imagined her forming a somewhat friendship with Erina, albeit riling her up and Hisako being all protective and stuff! I guess for a love interest for Soma, I can see her with some characters like Isshiki, Tsukasa or Akira.

The restaurant becomes quite trendy and Ikumi is constantly asked by her customers to act in indie films and pose in photo shoots.

post-canon souma x erina headcanons
(because there is absolutely no way they aren’t AT LEAST dating by that point. heck if tsukuda hadn’t said he planned for them to be married, I would’ve thought they had been since I don’t see either of them changing their last names)
POINT
he calls her first out of absolutely anyone he knows when he comes back home and from erina’s dialogue they’ve had this practice for quite a while, literally an ldr right there folks
it seems the usual thing is that erina arrives earlier than him to yukihira and that she waits inside for him so that means she’s the one who usually opens up the diner; that’s right it looks like she’s even been given keys to yukihira’s! if that doesn’t scream domesticity, I don’t know what does
the familiarity between erina and grandfather; the way he calls her erina-chan or how he leaves it to her to tell ‘the boys’ where he’ll be, and just how he speaks to her as if already seeing her as a granddaughter-in-law
that whole reunion! so soft, after both their inner monologues, and just for them alone. the ‘i’m home’ on souma’s part and the ‘welcome home’ on erina’s part and how erina is probably always the first to welcome him home since he calls her first and ‘home’ for them doesn’t just mean ‘japan’ but coming home to ‘yukihira’s’ and even better coming home to ‘her’ waiting at the place he calls home. THE DOMESTICITY I CANNOT. THEY ARE LITERALLY HUSBAND AND WIFE MATERIAL.
THE PARALLELS. erina as saiba and souma as tamako.
it’s actually souma’s inner monologue that convinces me. what his dad and asahi said has already been on his mind for a while and in this chapter it’s already solidified into an absolute certainty, the ‘forever’ is what clinches it to me. he’s been dedicating his cooking to erina all this time after all. it seemed to me that it’s in this chapter that he came to a resolution that it’s forever, no-takebacks between them. wouldn’t surprise me that when erina finally says ‘delicious’, he’ll just propose there on the spot. headcanon that that’s why he wants there to be a lot of witnesses when he didn’t before because he could propose at any time. wouldn’t even be surprised if after this chapter he really did propose with all their friends surrounding them because of how he ‘swears’ that this’ll finally be the dish to make her say ‘delicious’ (at this point delicious has become code for ‘I do’ between them not kidding)
HEADCANONS (since Tsukuda said the rest was free to our imagination, and anyway he confirmed their romantic feelings towards each other already, so many possibilities and I hope the anime builds on it)
when souma came back from his first tour abroad, they were already about to graduate as third years; it was erina’s teary, frustrated face, as if ready to smack him (and she does) when she sees him again that puts everything into place for him
but he still doesn’t say anything
since he already missed a lot of his requirements and the graduation exam he was granted a special exam by the headmistress herself, beat her in a shokugeki in order to graduate; that high-stakes confrontation was just like them; I think he did eventually beat her in that shokugeki or in a shokugeki because at present it seems their challenges don’t consist of shokugekis but him just feeding her and he did eventually take over yukihira’s, that would have probably been enough to satisfy jouchirou’s condition
she still doesn’t say it’s delicious. not because she doesn’t want to, but because there seems to be something stopping her. it’s ok, he’ll wait for her to be ready.
so she becomes dean full-time and he becomes owner of yukihira’s but she invites him to teach at tootsuki often; he has this habit of his, pre-asahi, of when he was bugging her to eat his dishes but she’d have her hands full with paperwork so he just feeds her. just like that (you know what I’m talking about that blessed volume 36 inner cover). souma’s just like ‘say ahhh nakiri’ and erina’s just ‘?!?!?!’ but it’s more troublesome fending him off and fighting off her blush so she just. gives in to it. so it wasn’t that uncommon to see the dean being handfed with chopsticks by yukihira-sensei to make sure she eats (so hisako totally approves) while making sure this is finally the day she says ‘delicious’, while she multitasks with paperwork in her office. and that just fuels rumors among the student body and even their friends don’ know what the heck they are?? it’s just their something and they don’t really say anything about it, not like they need words when they have food and that’s enough of a language for them. and erina is still oblivious.
as repayment for teaching at tootsuki, souma invites erina to help out at yukihira’s and cheekily tells her she has to wear the uniform and that he’s the boss this time around. erina just scoffs. and that’s how souma’s grandfather finds them, cooking together at yukihira’s, and with how souma grows to look more like jouchirou everyday and erina’s short hair, it’s like he’s seeing a young jouichirou and tamako all over again. he’s a bit teary and more than a bit glad to be introduced to erina-chan.
souma was in for a surprise to find out asahi was erina’s older brother, as if the nakiri family couldn’t get weirder enough already. asahi does not give him an easy time AT ALL, always saying he was never going to hand over his precious baby sister to souma. souma just gets hit by dejavu and not a small amount of irritation. shokugeki battles are frequent. (asahi knows they’re inevitable though, his younger sister and ‘younger brother’, he just likes to tease and prolong it); the lines in the nakiri family are pretty clear-cut, anyone apart from asahi and azami (like father and son) wholeheartedly approve of souma for erina (not that either of them know it); mana: what has you so irritated? doesn’t that boy remind you of yourself when you were wooing and already married to me? azami:..................; mana apart from senzaemon is probably souma’s biggest supporter in the nakiri family (even if he probably wouldn’t take the nakiri name) since she witnessed his devotion to erina so early on; azami probably weighs being saiba-senpai’s in-law versus having souma as a son-in-law. it is not an easy decision.
eventually wanderlust hits again and souma decides to travel to learn more and be a better chef. after all erina still hasn’t said ‘delicious’
for erina’s part, she’s sorely tempted to just finally say it, but apart from the fact that she’s nakiri erina, she’s also scared at what comes after, if finally saying ‘delicious’ would end this tenuous something between them. but at the same time, she’s tempted to say it just to get him to stay. but she’d never clip his wings like that especially when he was the one to give her a chance to break free from her birdcage (just as souma doesn’t take her away from what makes her a nakiri and has only ever pushed her upwards even so early on when he made her headmistress in their first year; I STAN A HEALTHY, SUPPORTIVE, AND INDEPENDENT POWER COUPLE OK). and always, always, no matter how far or how long (only a few weeks at most, because souma probably can’t last that long anymore) he always comes back home. to cook for her. to her. just like how saiba-sama always came back to tamako-san no matter where his travels took him and ANWAY WHY WAS SHE COMPARING THEIR SITUATION TO THAT OF HIS PARENTS?? erina is still in denial.
see, for his part, erina really is the best motivation because he can’t go back to see her without an outstanding dish that will dazzle her and he can’t not go back to her, so he puts his all to creating his recipes, the sooner to see her and make her finally say it’s delicious. it’s the same way erina puts her all to running the academy and make sure it’s not a disappointment to him when he comes back home.
the first time they say goodbye at the airport (because she wouldn’t let him hear the end of it the last time he left with just a note, not without a little hurt), she tries to be stone-faced, after being conspicuously left alone by his family and their friends, and he just says ‘see you nakiri, i’ll miss you’ and goes off without even hearing her reply which is just as well since erina probably couldn’t speak for how red she was. she swears she’ll kill him when he comes back for making her realize, because ah, now erina remembers a girl’s sleepover and love-talk and now she knows.
after numerous goodbyes at airports and ‘i’ll miss you’s and ‘next time for sure’s from souma, the day erina finally stutters back ‘i-i’ll miss you too’ is when souma asks to kiss her on the cheek (anything more would probably make her combust)
erina initiates their first kiss and souma’s like oh so that’s why they call it the ‘god tongue’
jouichiro and his grandfather give him a lot of grief about his relationship with erina since ‘could he hurry it up I want erina-chan as my daughter/grandaughter -in-law and grandkids/great-grandkids already!’ and souma’s like ‘she hasn’t said it’s delicious yet pops!’ and jouichirou is just dumbfounded at his kid’s stupidity and his grandfather’s just exasperated ‘what is it with you yukihira men wooing your future wives by stuffing them silly?’ the key to a woman’s heart is through her stomach after all.
after erina finally, FINALLY, says it’s delicious, souma’s too nervous to even celebrate - the ring? the ring?? where did he put it? - erina stops him in his tracks because she says to him with a small smile and a twinkle in her eye - ’hmphh I guess you’re no longer that plebian I first met, so how would you like to be promoted to my precious person? - souma recognizes it, of course he does, and of course she’s beat him again. he can’t help the blush on his face and doesn’t know who laughs louder, his pops or him.
at the wedding, erina asks him what now since she’s already said his food was delicious. souma’s there grinning manically ‘what are you talking about? you think one measly delicious is enough after how many times you’ve denied me? I swear I’ll make you say delicious a million times - no a hundred million times - for the rest of our lives.’ and erina can’t help but cry and smile and laugh through her tears. he’s always told her she was at her most beautiful laughing. there could have never been more perfect vows for them.
although I don’t think either of them will change their family names as I’d see them always support each other through their endeavors, I headcanon that after so much responsibility at such a young age erina would enjoy retiring at yukihira’s and just savoring her warm family time, something she’d desperately wish for when she was young and now has in abundance. she’d still consult and run restaurants but would probably leave most of the leadership to alice in later years.
souma and erina have a son as cheeky as his father and as brilliant as his mother. they have cooking showdowns with erina as the judge, but unlike tamako, she almost always declares their son the winner; souma: unfair, you only pick him because he’s your son. erina: he’s your son too dear and of course since he has the best of both of us; they also have a younger daughter who’s every much the tsundere erina is and as wild as tamako was (I DEMAND MY TWINTAILS SORINA DAUGHTER THANK YOU VERY MUCH); her brother probably dotes on her and they probably have the same relationship as soe and mana as well as asahi and erina. between the two of them, it’s their daughter that inherits the god tongue but she doesn’t want to be a chef and that’s perfectly ok with the whole family.
And that’s a wrap.  Honestly, that was a better ending than I expected. For me, in terms of satisfying resolutions of shonen ships they rank up there with Ed and Winry, Kaneki and Touka, Medaka and Zenkichi. It’s that softness and the promise of more to come, them knowing and us, the audience knowing their mutual feelings for each other, with the knowledge that they will eventually get married. I have the anime to look forward to at least and seeing all those moments animated.
