What did the studio do exactly, if you're able to share? People on this end never really hear the whole story we just see content we like die without a word and that sucks. If you can't share for business or legal reasons that makes complete sense and you probably should keep yourself safe, but if you're able to share I'm sure I'm not the only one out of the loop.

Hello! I just wanted to reply to this post because it's a very interesting panel on which I have spent a lot of time researching.

I am all in for the fact that Pucci doesn't worship Dio religiously and is not a blind follower, however!!!! this panel has many different ways to be interpreted. I'm going to use the officially published french translation as reference because as a french native speaker/english and japanese as 2nd and 3rd languages, french is the language I have the biggest grasp on. But also, our translators are trained professionals, they are awesome and have accurately translated even the most minute details in Pucci's ramblings across all of part 6 lol. And also I don't trust Netflix's translation choices.

English subs say :

The new moon rises tonight. Dio. No other night is better suited to awaken you once again so that you benefit my cause.

"To benefit" in english has ambiguity and can both mean "to benefit from" or "to be of benefice to", so it could either mean "so that I could be of use to you" or "so that you could be of use to me."

English dub takes a little pirouette approach by dodging the issue of who benefits whom :

Dio! I will awaken you and it'll be time for a heaven gloriously fitting for me to control.

French and some other translations translated it as such :

Dio! There could be no better fitting night to awaken you and let you benefit from my cause.

Japanese dub has ambiguity like in english, it's hard to determine who's gonna benefit from whom.

今宵は新月！ディオ！君を目覚めさせわたしが使いこなすふさわしい天国の時だ！

In my opinion, the best translation of the what the japanese voice actore says is the english dub. It's the most literal to me at least!

However looking at the manga, the japanese text is different from the dub, no mentions of the moon or of an appropriate or "gloriously fitting" heaven to control. But if you take the context of the previous page :

(これだ！間違いないッ！)　ついに出会えたなッ！『天国へ行く方法！』 まだ不完全で未熟だが あとは空条承太郎が封印した記憶に従って…… ＤＩＯ！ 君を目覚めさせわたしが使いこなすだけだ

The way I understand it very literally and in context is :

This must be it! I've finally encountered it! The 'way to go to Heaven'! (even the quotes are wrong in the eng translation, they only quoted 'heaven') It's still incomplete and immature, but as long as I follow the instructions that were sealed in Kuujo Jotaro's memories... DIO! I'm the only one fitted to use it and revive you!

Referencing the french translation again we get this :

It's here! Without a doubt! The way to go to heaven! (no quotes ever in the french tl) It's still immature and incomplete... But if I follow the instructions contained in Jotaro Kujo's memories... I'll be able to use it in the most fitting way to awaken you, Dio!

I've spent a lot of time thinking about this panel because I always thought it was very sudden and a little OOC for Pucci to talk about Dio in this manner, even though I reiterate, I don't think he's a brainwashed follower, that's just not how he usually talks about Dio. I would be very interested if anyone has commentary or more insight about these pages, japanese speaker or not or what the translations say in your languages (better if official translation!)

Every time I see people reduce Pucci’s character to someone who just worships Dio (acting like Pucci was only following DIO’s goals, or that he was enacting the heaven plan FOR Dio), I think about this panel.

For Pucci’s benefit. For Pucci’s goal. The anime subtitles said something like “for MY OWN benefit,” which makes it even clearer.

I don't know much about horses, but I do know a bit about what goes into making tv and movies and it's likely someone there did have an idea but either they didn't have time to reshoot and correct bc they'd only set up a short amount of time for some of those shots, or they kept telling him how to do it and he kept reverting back to doing it wrong bc it's not a big deal to him since he doesn't know and thus it kept slipping his mind.

 I’m not much keeping up with trailers and such myself, since I currently have no plans of watching it myself, so I’m mostly just judging from scenes I’ve seen floating around tumblr. But I have yet to see a single scene in which his riding doesn’t look bad tbh. I’m not much of a fan of him alltogether but I’d still like to give him the benefit of the doubt here. However if he has in fact been corrected on the thing and keeps on doing it wrong cause he thinks it’s no big deal then I gotta say fuck the guy, honestly. He’s been holding the reins far too short in like all the shots I’ve seen so far, there’s been one particular shot in which the horses poll appears to be below the vertical,the horse appearing slightly rolled in due to him holding the reins that short, which is something known to clearly cause discomfort to horses,,,, Anyway like I said I don’t wanna get too much into the subject on this blog and bore folk to death with the equine talk(™)

tldr,, I sure hope he’s not doing it on purpose and it is simply a momentary case of them having used an unfortunate shot or two due to time restrictions; but if he was corrected and simply does not care about possibly doing something that might very well cause an animal discomfort, then fuck him honestly.

Soul Calibur was the very first fighting series I ever played. I remember staying up until all hours of the night with my brother playing Soul Calibur II and I’ve loved it ever since. VI can’t get here fast enough!!

I'm the same way, actually! I'm really awful at watching shows unless I'm doing something while I watch or talking to someone about it while I watch it with them, so either I'm playing video games while I watch shows or I'm sitting with my gf discussing it, otherwise I get antsy and feel like I have to be doing something else and it leads to me turning off the show.

YES this is exactly what i experience too!! i just can’t, for the life of me, sit back and chill and enjoy a show, i need to either discuss it with a friend or do something in order for it to be engaging enough

i’m so glad i’m not alone in this because i feel so weird for it, lol, i don’t even have problems focusing with other things (even “boring” stuff like work or education related things) so it’s odd that this is such a big problem to me but

I don’t care how different it is, I’ve played Final Fantasy 7 once and that was already 1 too many times for one lifetime.

See my main worry is that I actually haven’t played it once, and have only accumulated a vague knowledge of plot, character and theme via pop culture osmosis and playing some other games in the series. 

And I’m really mildly worried this will be one of those things that’s basically incomprehensible if you haven’t consumed the original source material it’s responding to. 

(and I’m certainly not going to play an n 80-hour JRPG twice)
