The Page of Heart [symbols: pawn, heart]
The Page class has its basis in the medieval squire. An example would be King Arthur from Arthurian Legend. It is also based on the sidekick trope, such as Robin from Batman.
The Heart aspect’s main theme is instinct. You can find its official description here.
A Page of Heart is among those who use the individual’s impact. This is the “classpect group” they belong to. Members include: the Knight, Page, Thief, and Rogue of Heart/Mind. These classes are all opposites or inverses of each other that use the Heart/Mind dichotomy (the individual’s impact). A description of classpect groupings can be found here.
The Page of Heart passively utilizes the Heart aspect. Passive classes are guided by others or act for the benefit of others. They are more likely to be kind, but less likely to stand up for themselves. Knights and Pages use their aspect and everything it symbolizes as a tool. Simplified, the Page of Heart is motivated by others to utilize instinct.
In personality, the Page of Heart has trouble seeing what they’re good at and is invested in self discovery. Personality descriptions can be found here.
Their archetype is the Believer Free Spirit, defined by confidence and instinct. Archetypes are explained here.
Their opposite is the Knight of Mind, who actively utilizes intuition.
Their inverse is the Thief of Mind, who actively steals intuition.
A classpect or “god tier” is an individual’s best self. All classpects go through a journey from unrealized, to struggle, to realized. When a character is unrealized, they neutrally exist as their inverse. On their struggle, they will wildly flip back and forth between their inverse and true classpect. In their worst moments they will act as their inverse, in their best their true classpect. When realized, they will stabilize as their true classpect. They will still have room to grow, but will become happier, more successful people.
This means that the Page of Heart begins life motivated by themselves to steal intuition. When their struggle arrives and they are at their worst, they will continue this behavior in negative extremes. However, when at their best, they will find purpose in instead utilizing instinct for others. When realized, they will stabilize and continue to utilize the Heart aspect passively, in a positive way.
They share their archetype with the Rogue of Hope, the Free Spirit Believer.
The Page of Heart would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Earth [Page] and Heart [Aspect]. An example would be the Land of Croquet Courts and Madness. An explanation of planet naming conventions can be found here.
Two possible gods, or denizens, to reign over their planet would be Aphrodite (Goddess of Love) or Yaldabaoth (Trapper of Souls). Other Heart aspect denizens can be found here.
When the Page of Heart completes their planet quests and dies on their quest bed, they would rise to ascension on the wings of ladybugs (symbols of love). A list of soul animals can be found here.
The characters that I have currently classpected as Pages of Heart are: Allan from Barbie: The Movie, Jervis Tetch from Batman, the Ptarmigan from Dragon Age, Josmael from Dragon Age, and Steven Universe from Steven Universe.
If any of the links not connected to my blog break, the content can be found on my Google Drive.

Chapter 18 - The Way Back
[ A scene ]
Mithra’s eyes cracked open and drifted around her surroundings, then went wide. It was...daytime? Had she overslept?
She rolled into a low crouch and looked around the meadow surrounded by quiet forest, then peered over her shoulder. When she didn’t see Josmael, the mounts, or camp, she furrowed her brow. Was this...where they’d made camp? Where was Josmael? He wouldn’t have left without waking her...unless he knew it was safe and wanted to let her sleep. Or if he’d gotten hungry and was hunting something nearby.
As for the others - had they gotten tired of him waking her from nightmares and left her behind? They wouldn’t have done that...right?
Mithra listened very carefully for a moment and heard no birdsong nor the buzzing of insects in the trees. She knew everything in the forest went still and silent when something was wrong. And something was definitely very wrong.
When she reached for her pendant and didn’t feel it dangling from her neck or under her armor, her blood turned to ice. She crouched lower in the grass that was flooded with colorful wild flowers and carefully watched for any movement.
She felt eyes on her and whipped her head around to look. When she saw nothing, a chill ran through her limbs and she started panting. She wasn’t sure whether to stay or go. If something came at her, she would see it if it entered the meadow. However, if it was in the woods, it could see her before she saw it.
Mithra clasped her hands together, then dared to bring her thumbs to her lips and sent a low, haunting whistle through the area. She crouched lower and strained her hearing for anything. Anything at all.
After a tense moment of dead silence, her unease bloomed into terror and she took off like a deer with hounds on its heels. As she flew through the dense forest, she dodged trees and leapt brush, then dropped into a slide under a decaying log that was supported by its living neighbors. She shoved herself back up to her feet and kept moving as fast as she could.
She dared a glance over her shoulder, then crashed into something too soft and warm to be a tree. Panting and terrified, she desperately pinned it to the ground below her and stretched her other fist back to strike. She froze when she saw it was Solas, who looked more than a little surprised.
When he opened his mouth, she firmly pressed her hand over his lips, then lay beside him. As she settled her head beside his, she shushed him as quietly as she could, then very softly murmured, “Something’s out there.” When he cut her a confused sideways glance, she faintly breathed, “No birds. No bugs. Something’s wrong.”
His chest suddenly quaked with a chuckle and she squinted at him like he was mad or stupid. He peeled her hand from his face and murmured back, “There is nothing to fear in this place. I am sorry for frightening you.”
The wild, chaotic music of birds and insects gently bloomed in her ears as her eyes widened.
Solas smirked, then sat upon the mossy, forest floor and peacefully looked around. “You have been sleeping poorly. I thought you might enjoy a reprieve.”
Completely confused and still lying on the ground, Mithra’s eyes darted around the woods. After a moment, she rolled onto her back, then sat up and eyed him uncertainly. “This is a dream? Is this how you dream?”
“It is,” he said with a gentle smirk, "According to my studies, I am what the Ancients would have called I've'an'thanelan. A Fade Mage. I created this place."
She squinted at him. "How am I here with you?"
He grinned. "I am also I've'an'virelan. A Fade Walker. A Dreamer. I wished to share it and offer you a night of peace."
Mithra blew out the last of her nerves, then hugged her knees to her chest and laughed softly. "Well... Thank you." She pressed her lips together, then cleared her throat and asked, “Would it be...possible for me to do this?”
His brows rose. “Certainly. That mark clearly allows you to dream with the required focus, which surprises me. Visiting me here, even if you were a mage - it should not have been so easy for you. But you’ve already fractured rules of man and nature, and you will shatter more before you are done.”
She squinted at him. “Huh?”
He gently took her marked hand and explained, “You had walked in the Fade! I have explored the Fade more than anyone alive, but even I can only visit in dreams. But you… You might have been able to visit me here while awake! I have no doubt you could shape dreams such as these.”
Mithra looked at the mark and realized the...thing gave her more power over the Fade than she knew, but- I’ve...never done anything like this before. May I ask your advice?”
He smirked and asked, “Do you recall what I said about perception shaping our existence? How do you remember your fondest places?”

Confession: Even though it is highly unlikely - I would really want to see either Josmael or Nyree (or both?) in a future Dragon Age game.

there's a post going around about how you chose your dragon age oc names? anyway, I talk too much
~~elves~~
Sulina Mahariel Sabrae - derived from the elvish words suledin "endure"/sulevin "purpose" and the suffix -lin "blood." Sulina was my first dragon age oc and like many of my wardens I just gave her the first random name that popped into my head at the character creation screen, and then decided I hated it and gave her a better one later. I believe her name started as Canneia, but after playing the game I wanted her name to better match existing dalish names so I changed it to Candria. But the /k/ phoneme is just not present in elven words and names so I completely renamed her and took the opportunity to craft a name that is just a little bit too on the nose.
Shirae Istimaethoriel Lavellan - derived from the elvish shiral "journey" (with inspiration from the name of clan Sabrae). this one I actually came up with in advance before the game shipped, and I think this is around the same time I surveyed canonical elven names/words and renamed most of my earlier ocs too. keeper Deshanna Istimaethoriel Lavellan is her grandmother.
Rafael (Surana/Tabris) - Raf started out in the Surana origin, but I borrowed his headmorph to test a mod for the Tabris origin and that spun off into a Tabris AU that I got so attached to that I made it canon. similar to the canon dalish names Josmael/Rajmael (and I doubt it's coincidental that there are similar-sounding Hebrew names irl). Raf named himself after a dalish man his parents met once and told him stories about - when he was Surana origin, he saved one of Raf's parents from a bandit attack on the road when they were traveling between alienages to marry. I haven't decided yet if Adaia or Cyrion met him under different circumstances now that he's Tabris origin.
Ellaran - a dalish warden oc. at one point I'm pretty sure I came up with a reverse etymology for this name (hella "struggle" and ...?) but in truth this is really just the one remaining name that lives in my head and "sounds elven" and I'm pretty sure it's just a mashup of the tolkien names Elladan and Elrohir. whatever, it sounds fine.
Rowan - a half-elven warden mage oc. she was raised by her single mother in the gwaren alienage before being taken to kinloch hold and momma named her after Queen Rowan.
~~dwarves~~
Eydis Aeducan - started life as Olenka, I believe. when I renamed most of my wardens I tried naming her Agathe at first (based on the similarity to agate) but I ended up making her swap with my Cadash bc I felt the names fit better the other way around. eydis wasn't chosen for the meaning or anything, just the sound. I tend to generally favor nordic names when I have to name dwarves idk.
Rozi Brosca - started life as Brasi until I came to my senses and realized that Brasi Brosca sounded absurd. Rozi is just the spelling of Rosie I liked best for her. I think her name and her sister's name sound kind of aspirational? Rica and Rozi - riches and roses. does anyone else feel like some wardens probably shouldn't have surnames, Brosca included? oh well.
Agathe Cadash - see Eydis, above
Evender "Rumour" Cadash - idk I think this name just ~sounded right.~ I liked the default name Edric but I didn't want to use the default name Edric. and m'boy m'lad needed a cool nickname to strike fear into the hearts of his foes. or. into the hearts of those poor chumps whose kneecaps he was paid to bust, anyway.
~~qunari~~
Kataara Adaar - derived from the qunlat words katara "die"/katari "one who brings death" but more importantly, yes, she was named after katara "avatar the last airbender" watertribe. I saw the word katara on the qunlat word list and I was like "oh im naming her after katara watertribe and nobody can stop me"
Vaati Adaar - kat's daughter. derived from the qunlat word vat "fire" and yes I do like the "aa" found in some qunlat words too much and add it to every name it's a problem I just think it's neat
Taashath - kat's ex/vaati's dad. I didn't add the "aa" this time it was already there! just a qunlat word that means "calm" bc he's a chill dude
~~humans~~
aw jeez ah man too many of these mfers. incredibly rude of these mfers for there to be so many of them.
Gwendolen Elethea Cousland - wanted a celtic name to match Fergus. named after her faceclaim, Gwendoline Christie. middle name comes from one of her alamarri ancestors. gwen and spiro are I think the only two origins ocs who never needed to be renamed bc it took me so long to get around to actually making human origins ocs that I already knew the names of everyone in their families by then so I could select them with intention.
Spiro Amell - so I don't like to use the default names for my ocs but I do sometimes like to use them for inspiration and/or reuse them for other family members. the canonical amell family names are kind of all over the place but I decided to go with mostly vaguely greek/hebrew names (see: aristide and revka amell). so, dad is Andreas and the kiddos are Solona, Daylen, Spiro, Deborah, and Delilah. yes, i alliterated sue me. I could rename the default name kiddos but lbr I won't
Tabitha Grace Hawke - Tabitha was chosen to match bethany in the "biblical names on the slightly obscure side" category. and then I gave her a middle name bc leandra is at heart still a fancy lady even if she is also an irrepressible wild child.
Juniper Hawke - idk I just thought of this name and banked it for the next time I started a new hawke playthrough. she was never supposed to be promoted to canon over tabby but she's just so gd funny. I've since learned that juniper is an extremely trendy baby name rn so apparently I just caught the baby name brainworms in the air.
Alden Ewald Reinaldo Trevelyan - the default names maxwell and evelyn are both very english and have "el" in them so that was the rough theme for the baby name site jam session. half brothers Maxwell and Daniel, sisters Evelyn and Velda, Alden, and twin sister Amelia. originally I went with the name Anselm but I experienced severe buyer's remorse almost immediately and renamed him to something I liked better and that sounded less like a kingdom hearts villain. the other names in the family (father August, grandmother Magnolia, stepmother Oswin, mother Irene, and uncle Cassio Castida) are all just "sure that sounds fine" names that hit vaguely within the right naming tradition. oh! and the middle names. one for his free marcher side and one for his antivan side.
Amelia Trevelyan - speaking of Amelia, she's been through so many (so many) renames. I think I started with Felicia? hated it. then tried a few variants of Emmeline/Ameline but, christ, if the similarity to Evangeline/Aveline doesn't kill those names for me. so! right now it's Amelia! and I'll change it again! no middle names for her until she cooperates and manifests a name I actually like.
Finnola Magnolia Trevelyan - oh and the only Trevelyan cousin I care about. can't remember how/when I chose the name. but it's related to her dead name - she went by Finn prior to transitioning after which point she prefers the nn Nola instead. both given and middle names were family names and she wanted to keep family names after transitioning. grandma Bann Magnolia Trevelyan gave her blessing to take her name for her middle name.
~~mass effect~~
bonus round bc why not!
Roxene Shepard - the name on her save file is just Roxy and I SWEAR to CHRIST she's NOT named after a homestuck she's named after a homestuck it was the first thing that popped into my head when I booted up the game look it was 2007 it was a different time. later I came back to beef it up and make it sound more like a sci fi name and less like a chicago showtune. yes, her parents names are Hannah and John and most people in the future are named things like Ashley and David. you know why her name is Roxene and not something normal? because hannah and john shepard were fucking unhinged that's why. had a breakthrough moment several years later when I realized her nickname could be Xena warrior princess.
Deonna Shepard - same thing. named her Diana after wonder woman. first thing that popped into my head. started out at warrior princess that time rather than working my way around to it over the course of several years. went back later to make it fancier bc I can.
Polaris Ryder - I asked myself, before andromeda came out, if it would be too corny and on the nose to name my pathfinder after the north star and then I decided it was and then I did it anyway. you know why? bc ellen and alec ryder are also unhinged. my ellen ryder and hannah shepard are cousins so they clearly shared their baby name brainworms while brainstorming with each other.
Casper Ryder - needed a similarly unhinged name for the twin, obv. I think I started at Cassiopeia and then worked my way over to casper the friendly ghost from there. you know what, it fits him tho.

So I have recently seen Dragon Age: Redemption with the amazing @dalishious and boy if it wasn't an experience. But while we were laughing and commenting the decision to make a rewrite of the serie came up and I offered myself for the job as a fun writing exercise to start my blog. So here we go. This is made with the assumption that we are in the middle of Dragon Age 2 Act 1, because that's what I understood?
Dragon Age: Redemption (Of A Plot)
-The movie still starts as it does in canon, with Tallis doing a voiceover while looking dramatic, because that's the type of things Tallis does.
-The first difference is when Sarebaas (the villain) walks in to interrogate a prisoner elf. Instead of doing weird unknow magic, Sarebaas cut the elf palm and uses his blood to compel the elder elf to talk. So we estabilish a familiar narrative element since the start and don't have to suffer bad visual effects because blood magic is incospicuos
-Tallis still gets told by the qunari that she is Tallis again and there is a mission for her ecc, but the qunari also add that they intend to destroy the Sarebaas once reunited because he got corrupted by staying away from the Qun. They have no idea of Sarebaas plans, they just want to follow the Qun and would kill him even if he was loyal. (As seen in DA2)
-Tallis meets Cairn (the Templar) while handling the racist asshole with the necklace of elven ears and Cairn does his "leave him be he is my prisoner in the name of the Chantry". Cairn doesn't show any concern that the guy Tallis is handling has literal *elven ears* as a necklace, only that it's only his right to apprehend him and for separate reasons.
-Tallis mocks him for being a good church little soldier, that's fine. But she doesn't tell him she's qunari (why the fuck my Hawke wasnt informed but this bitchy Templar yes Tallis) and doesn't propose to work together at all. Cairn treathens Tallis, saying that Knight-Commander Meredith told him to recover the "escaped apostate" immediately and he has the authority to arrest her if she doesn't collaborate. He's the one who wants to "work together" but at HIS terms.
-Tallis quickly makes some cool rougue move and ends up with her daggers at Cairn troath, before telling him to say to Meredith hello and knocking him down. Then, with the informations she got from Necklace Racist GuyTM she leaves for the Dalish Camp. Since this is Kirkwall and there shouldn't be more than one dalish clan for area, the clan we meet is actually Clan Sabrae.
-While she is with the dalish, Tallis hears some yelling and sees Cairn somehow found her. She asks him how and he says that before being a templar he was helping his father, who used to hunt for their village, so he knows how to follow tracks and followed her here. She compliments him for being "not totally usless" and decides to tell the dalish to let him in saying her "he is with me, we are all elves so I garantee for him" bit.
-No they are not going to have a romance.
-Clan Sabrae is NOT IMPRESSED and tells her that while they accept any elf as part of the people, Tabris is a guest and qunari and doesn't has the trust of the clan. Surely not enough to guarantee for a Templar. In the end they let Cairn in (because plot) but they tell him he will be guarded by their ex First, who's visiting, and will have to leave his weapons to them.
-Being an usless Templar, Cairn is all like "how dare you I work with the authority of the chantry, savages" until a dalish snaps at him that their patience is growing thin and he can enter weaponless or not enter at all. Cairn makes A Face and accepte, saying that he has to complete his mission and his superiors made clear the importance of the task (yes Meredith yelled at him. *world smallest violin plays*)
-The Keeper is busy doing... Something. Maybe she's talking to Audacity and it's an hint to the events of DA2, but they as said before they can talk to their ex First and also the actual First.
-Merrill cameo! :D But what the hell is she doing here? Well Merrill, because she is good like that, cares for her clan even if she's not part of it anymore and came to help when she heard what was going on. Hawke and co are busy on adventuring atm, so it's just her tiny badass self.
-Merrill obviously infodumps them about the mask of Fen'Harel, because Merrill is a badass. Instead of saying that they don't know what it does she says the Mask has many powers and it was always treated carefully because you do not call the Dread Wolf without risks. She says usually the Mask was used to amplify the power of a mage wearing it in moment when there was great need of consulting the Fare.
-Cairn probably says some shit about the mask having to be destroyed or demons but let's just assume that's 90% of his dialogue and ignore him. Maybe Merrill gives him a verbal burn, she's good at that.
-There is still a missing mage from the clan, the elf who was interrogated by Sarebaas at the start and he was Keeper Marethari's *brother*, but was took away from the Templars. (Or hell even just a respected magical elder, as you want)
-They also talk to the new First of the Clan after Merrill left, and it's our boy Josmael *immediate applaues*. Josmael says all he says in canon and how Sarebaas kidnapped his beloved while stealing the mask the clan. He teams up with Cairn and Tallis to rescue her. We also discover that he's one of the few people in the clan who stil likes Merrill and since she left and he was made the new First he has been anxious about having to fill her hyper-competent shoes.
-Yeah that was just me using the movie to give Merrill a friend in her people so what.
-Merrill says she has to return to the city but tells Josmael to keep her updated and he thanks her for caring.
-Cairn and Tallis say to Josmael that he cant come cuz they can't babysit him to which he answers with gentle determination that he doesn't need any babysitting and shows him magic.
-Cairn can't work with apostates blablabla.
-Tallis calls out Cairn for his anti-magic sentiment and says her "people" don't judge magic (which is bullshit but from her pov is the truth). Then she stabs Josmael to make him heal himself and prove himself to them.
-I take a pause because the water in the bath is getting cold and this post is getting too long, so i'll post this rewrite in parts.

Note
since you seem to be the largest authority on all things dragon age, i figured i could ask you this: are you aware of any seasonal holidays that the dalish celebrate? like beltane or yule, stuff like that?
Not canonical, but I like to believe the celebrate the solstices.
This is vaguely supported by Josmael commenting that him and Fina were set to marry on the next solstice, suggesting they do hold them with importance.

Hello! I noticed you made a connection to Solas’s new pin and the Mask of Fen’Harel and it reminded me that Deception existed and now I have to ask, two angry mages, using artifacts of Fen’Harel to try and tear open the veil? Coincidence, or has Solas tried this before even in his “sleep?”
tayspray asked: Oops, addendum to my earlier ask, the series was Redemption wasn’t it?
Hello! Yes it’s Dragon Age: Redemption which is the webseries with Felicia Day as Tallis (a watch link can be found here if anyone’s looking). :) This became a bit long so it’s under a cut. TN spoilers under cut.
There’s several possibilities:
it’s not really a big deal or that deep anything because Redemption is like, what, tertiary canon?
the name and design of the artifact is an in-universe coincidence (meta/out-of-universe though those design/writing choices act as hints about the future and Fen’Harel lore build-up; we know Solas’ role has been ‘sketched’ in that way since DAO. that kind of stuff is intentional).
the name and design of the artifact isn’t coincidence but isn’t directly tied to him; like I could imagine some master smith, craftsperson or mage etc from the time of the Dales creating and naming an object in a common motif/after the likeness of one of their major ‘god-like’ figures or something, especially since in modern times Josmael’s Dalish clan was looking after the artifact.
it’s not coincidence and the item is directly tied to him, as in it was his much like the foci orb or he otherwise had a connection to it somehow as he seems to have with the red lyrium idol, but he wasn’t involved in the events of Redemption. in this reading, perhaps if the Mask hadn’t been destroyed, maybe he could have sought it out and used it as his post-broken orb Plan B instead of needing the idol. in this reading when Saarebas “addressed” Fen’Harel when the tear began to open, he wasn’t actually addressing anyone, and this line was an expression of like “haha yaaasss”, like he wasn’t in actual contact with any kind of entity, but was rhetorically thanking the Mask’s namesake at the point of his apparent success (hope this makes sense). alternately, Saarebas was in contact with some kind of entity - maybe a demon (he is a mage after all) or something worse like an imprisoned Evanuris whispering to him from their prison or something. some demons have the power to manipulate people without their knowing, and you can see why, if the Veil coming down would release the false gods, they’d want it to happen in order to escape from jail (also reminds me of the Old Gods whispering to the ancient magisters way back when).
it’s not coincidence, the item is directly tied to him as above, and he and/or his people (i.e. agents) were involved in the events somehow. behind the scenes, orchestrating/influencing things. it reminds me of Flemythal’s “push here or a nudge there” shtick. Solas could have been using his abilities as a powerful Dreamer to do so - there’s certainly plenty of speculation around the fandom that he was doing something like this during the time of Shartan for example. or else his agents might have been acting on his behalf - Remember how he tells us he didn’t give the orb to Cory directly, but that his agents allowed Corypheus’ Venatori to “come across it”. recall also how Felassan, agent and friend of the DW, had been wandering around Thedas for some ~20 years before the time Solas says he awoke (“I woke still week a year before I joined you”). not suggesting Felassan specifically was involved, just mentioning it to show that Solas’ agents were active doing stuff while he was still supposedly asleep. in this reading, Saarebas might have indeed been calling to Fen’Harel, or at least thought he was.
incidentally, since you sent me this ask, Matt Rhodes uploaded a fuller and clearer/better-quality version of the concept art to his Art Station. Worth mentioning because with the better image quality the detailing on the badge/broach is a bit easier to make out. while I’m here I also wanna recommend this fanart of the badge. three wolf heads 🔍 👀 There was a speculation post I saw about the three wolf heads that I’d also wanted to recc to people but I can’t seem to locate it :[
Semi-related and on the subject of the badge: I have to wonder if the iconography of this badge he’s wearing is the “unknown symbol” the robes the agent of Fen’Harel from Half Up Front was wearing were embroidered with. agents of the Dread Wolf going about with wolf symbols/badges on doesn’t seem very subtle tho, lol.

BVT-Artober 2020, Day 13: Vallaslin
Tumblr media
Day 13, Vallaslin: Zathrian's First seeks out the scattered children of Clan Lavellan and offers them the old ways.
Zathrian’s First comes to the Wycombe alienage shaking the morning dust off her feet, and you catch her drinking from a flask in the cool shade of the Vhenadahl. She doesn’t look like anyone you know, and her vallaslin is thicker than the lines your parents wore, that some of the elves in the cities paint on their faces for the Ceremonies. She is Dalish, like you are, though according to Duke Antoine, there are no more Dalish in Wycombe. He thinks because he killed everyone with vallaslin, you’re gone. But you have a long memory, and even though Keeper Adahlfenor didn’t have a chance to teach you how to make the ink, you know the patterns. Lanaya sees you watching and pulls gently at your aura. You realize she realizes: sister-mages. She waves you over. “Lethallin,” she says, “what’s your name?” “Deshanna Mithrallin,” you say carefully. Ashara and Imladris and Revas tell everyone they’re Lavellan first, then Ashalla or Barandiun’s children second, but they’re better off, with their parents’ human and dwarf friends looking out for them. You don’t have that same buffer. You are Lavellan’s First, of course, and as First you don’t have the privilege to be fiery. The clan needs you alive, because while you are not the only mage that has managed to survive and stay hidden from the Circle, you are the oldest and got the most training, and the others need every bit that you know. You were supposed to get your vallaslin that week: Sylaise, you wanted to be dedicated to Sylaise. She examines you closely. “Adahlfenor’s Second? We met at the Arlathvhen, didn’t we?” You were about fourteen and Keeper brought you there to confirm you as Second. You feel tears dotting at your eyes and look away. It is unthinkable that Clan Lavellan will come to the next Arlathvhen in five years. You can’t imagine what the Duke will do if you all just suddenly left--take it out on the elves left behind, probably, the People of the City who took you in and scattered you. Dalish or not, you will not leave them behind. And the Arlathvhen only lasts a month. “I recognize your vallaslin,” you say. “Clan Zathrian? You’re dedicated to June.” Lanaya smiles. “Yes. And Zathrian sent me. We have heard rumors that the Dread Wolf blessed Clan Lavellan and preserved the children. We wanted to make sure that not all were lost.” You shrug. Clan Zathrian is known for being  a little literal about the old stories, you remember that from the Arlathvhen, though they’re not as bad as Clan Ralaferin. “I’m not sure it was the Dread Wolf. Just luck. Common sense. Anyone who didn’t have vallaslin managed to hide.” You spread your arms out. “The alienages took in whomever they could. House Cadash too, and the Rivaini Merchants’ Guild. We had a contract. So we do not yield.” “But you’re scattered,” Lanaya says. “And while I’m sure the hahren teach you what they can, they are not Dalish.” She pulls out a long wooden box and offers it to you. “I walked through the old Friendly Homes. Just because they are now empty does not mean they are empty, da’len. You can reclaim them. Clan Zathrian will help, Clan Sabrae and Clan Alerion too. Adahlfenor meant for you to be Lavellan’s Keeper, Deshanna Mithra’s daughter. He would want you to lead.” You open the box. A tray of inks sit, along with a halla-bone tattoo pen. You stroke it gently. You’ve painted the dedications on the People’s face for the Ceremonies, Lavellan and Wycombe alike, and you made the brush out of halla hair, to get closer to the sacred. You could make it permanent, it can’t be that much more difficult, you never got to watch Keeper do it, that was the First’s duty, but Josmael has been gone for three long, hard, catastrophic years. “I don’t know how,” you say, voice thick. “Keeper didn’t have the chance to teach me.” Lanaya shifts closer, and above you a seabreeze teases the leaves of the Vhenadahl. You tip your face to the wind and the sun beaming through the latticework of the tree and pull at the warmth to beat away despair. Lanaya says, “But I can. I can teach you. Because we are Dalish: keepers of the lost lore, walkers of the lonely path. The last of Elvhenan, and never do we submit.”

A hypothetical god tier for Josmael from Dragon Age: the Page of Heart.
A Page of Heart is among those who use the individual’s impact. They are motivated by others to utilize instinct. (x) The Page of Heart struggles to see what they’re good at and is invested in self discovery. (x) They are the Believer Free Spirit, defined by confidence and instinct. (x) Their opposite is the Knight of Mind. Their inverse is the Thief of Mind. They share their personality with the Rogue of Hope. The Page of Heart would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Earth and Heart, reigned over by Aphrodite (Goddess of Love) or Yaldabaoth (Trapper of Souls). They would rise to ascension on the wings of ladybugs. (x)(x)(x)

Chapter 23 - Ironbark and Bloodbaths
The thick droning of bees flooded the canyon and swarmed around the ‘bandits’ that were...actually mercenaries.
Mithra charged and leapt off of a boulder with her blades held high. They bit deep into the shoulders of a skirmisher and she laughed when he crumpled like paper.
While Sera’s arrows whistled across the field and punctured various foes, Cassandra, Blackwall, Varric, and Solas stood by and watched foe after foe fall to those complete maniacs.
A big, panicked bastard hopelessly flailed his massive hammer in a wide arc as Mithra charged at him. When she closed in, she dropped to slide between his legs and slashed the tendon of his groin. She shoved herself back up to her feet as he toppled, then whipped around and slashed his throat as Josmael charged by.
He jumped on a heavily-armored one and took him to the ground, then dashed away while Mithra came in right behind him.
When she took the man’s head and cackled, Blackwall opened his mouth to say something, then thought better of it.

And here we go with the last two episodes of
Dragon Age Redemption (Of a Plot).
My baby Josmael finally gets to flip off Tallis -I don't hate Tallis, but this movie has her at her worst attitude- and Cairn and gets a reaver friend. We start with episode 5. Are you ready? Let's go.
-The episode starts with our protagonists fighting in the inn, where we left them and oh Maker did I said how I love the guy with the hammer? Not only he has a gigantic rubber hammer, he's also bald, grinning and with a dark beard. He's the perfect evil enchnman clichè and I want 20 of them thank you very much. He even says "GRAAAWL!" before starting the fight. I love you, random evil hammer guy.
-The fights goes more or less the same, the only thing I'm gonna change is that the innkeeper does not randomly knocks out Josmael because I find not very realistic that a civilian would throw herself in a fight. She still gets angry at the gang for fucking up the inn and takes their money, but she spends the fight hiding to safety behind the table and immediately after the fight and them buying informations from the innkeeper. If we have to add something, I would not mind Josmael or someone else asking what Nyree did, so we can throw some informations about Reaver abitilities to the viewer instead of just assuming I know.
-Ok it's a specific DA movie, so if you are watching you probably know about reavers and lore already, but a good rule of storytelling is to never assume the player/viewer already knows, and I study games.
-Anyway the gang is now in the dark (it was daylight in the previous scene why is now dark? what did they waste time on?? That's a mystery between them and the script) or still daylight if we want to be more realistic. They are talking about how those guys were waiting for them and how did Sarebaas knew they were gonna enter that inn, since Sarebaas is obviously behind this?
-Tallis is like "Josmael told us about the shortcut I don't trust him" and knocks him against the stone. But since we are less than 20 minutes from the end, Josmael is tired of being harrassed by his "allies" and having to take it for the sake of the mission so he hits Tallis with a mind blast and tells her to get her hands off him. Cairn takes out his sword, but he feels cold against his neck and realizes Nyree is keeping her weapon on him, estabilishing sides officially.
-Josmael explains how he followed the instructions on a message for the person he loved, NOT to betray them and Craig snaps towards him yelling "deceitful little apostate!" but is once again stopped by Nyree who growls at him "Don't Try It, Anakin torturer!" since it's a stalemate, Craig does his "I know nothing good could come of you" but Josmael is defiant, not scared (well ok maybe he is scared too but he's not gonna take this from Meredith little boy). At the "You're tainted!" Josmael snaps that the dalish have heard the stories about the Knight Commander of Kirkwall and if he's tainted at the eyes of someone who was hurting elders in chains then he's proud. Cairn tries to surpass Nyree to kill him and is knocked down instead.
-Nyree does her reveal, telling that the boy is right and even if he wasn't Cairn is way worse than a lie out of love, for he caused Sarebaas escape by trying to kill him. Tallis interrogates Cairn about it and Cairn admits how he tried to kill the mage but was overpowered. (Nice to see Templars are usless as always).
-Blablabla Sarebaas killed Cairn family after his village near Kirkwall took pity of him? Ehh no. We are not doing Sten 2.0 on the simple basis that Sten had a (wrong but still logical) motivation.
-Instead when asked "why" Cairn will tell that his family did took pity on Sarebaas but he did not trusted him. Then one night he entered the barn where Sarebaas was being let sleep (since the family did not had enough room for him) and caught him doing bloodmagic and summoning demons. Cairn, as a Templar who was visiting his family, realized the qunari wasn't "simple" a qunari, but a mage and a maleficar and when he tried to arrest him as is his duty Sarebaas killed his family trying to escape.
-Some of you could say "but this still makes Sarebaas the cartoon villain evil mage?" and I say, in Mickey Mouse voice, "This is a plot point that will serve us later". For now, like the Hinterlands, bear with me. (Yes I know my jokes are great).
-Anyway in the fight and after seeing his little sister die in his arms, Cairn was stopped from killing Sarebaas by the Chantry (specifing they stopped him only because they wanted to "experiment" on him not because murdering mages is wrong), tried to kill him later and messed up.
-Instead of framing Josmael and making Cairn looks #angsthero we have Josmael in the right and Cairn in a "yeah he caused this and I dont like him but I can understand the trauma" (for now) situation.
-Then Nyree realizes Josmael legged out to reach Sundermount alone and Tallis says some curse in qunlat instead of "Andraste's Ass" because if she can curse in qunlat during Mark of the Assassin she can do it now too.
-We start with episode 6, the last episode, with Josmael getting close to the altar (thankfully my Hawke never looted the elven graves lmao. The last thing this boy needs is an horde of angry ravenants).
-Behind him Nyree shows up and says she prefers to help him than help Tallis and Cairn. Josmael points out he has no money and Nyree answers something along the lines of "I already have the money kid. But you know we mercenaries, we have no honor and it's better than a fake one".
-Tallis and Cairn reach them and Cairn wants to fight but Tallis intervenes doing her "we all want to defeat Sarebaas let's keep working more or less together and we can solve this later" so each party goes hiding behind some rocks, waiting for the enemy.
-While Tallis and Cairn talk (with NO romantic music thank you very much) Cairn admits Meredith didn't allowed the mission and says that he thinks he will not be able to go back. "The Knight-Commander is not the kind of woman who forgives lack of control"
-They are very pompous about it but it's made clear to the viewer that one side wants to murder a mage and the other wants to enslave him. Since we think Cairn wants revenge for his family and we have previously seen Sarebaas look of horror towards his collar, we are like "well I hope the bastard Templar kills Sarebaas seems the more justified of the two options and probably Sarebaas would rather die than return to the Qun"
-They still try to recruit each other, but there is no kiss or romance, only two zealots trying to recruit the other in their creed.
-We entirely skip that scene with Nyree and Josmael. You know the one. ENTIRELY I SAID.
-They instead talk about how Nyree has seen Templars harrass mages in Nevarra when they could and throw dirty look at Mortalitasi and Josmael thanks her for siding with him in the past.
-Sarebaas and the bad guys arrive with Fina (Josmael beloved in case I didn't specified already) and a battle plan is made, with the four protagonists reunited on the same rock.
-I take a moment to appreciate how Sarebaas long nails are pained black and way better than Voldemort dirty ones. Remember kids, being an evil mage hell bent on conquering the land with a demon army is no reason to look dirty.
-Sarebaas start the ritual and when Josmael tries to put Fina to safety she tells Sarebaas the enemy is here. Josmael is shocked but then he realizes that Fina is controlled by blood magic. Because that makes at least more sense than "being kidnapped by the villain of the story makes me feel special I so love being a sacrifice"
-I clap at Sarebaas calling the dead to him because necromancy is always cool, even on low budget.
-Fina still gets Stabbed because Sarebaas magic pushed Josmael against her while he was struggling to take the knife away from her without hurting her and the blood activates the ritual. Instead of being immediately defeated, Sarebaas and Josmael are locked into a magic duel until the mask doesn't power up Sarebaas, then Josmael is throwed away.
-As in canon, Sarebaas magically blocks Cairn and thanks him and Cairn yells at him he's a monster but Sarebaas reveals the truth. He never did bloodmagic to kill Cairn family. Cairn killed his family.
-The true story is that yes Sarebaas, being Sarebaas/a mage was using his powers in the barn, but he was doing enthropic magic. Cairn, already blinded by hate and rage because of the difficulties with th Qun in Kirkwall and his own racism (fueled by Petrice, altought she's not directly mentioned because he couldn't know this, but we know), assumed entropy was blood magic without taking a second to check/ask and tried to kill Sarebaas.
-In the fight, the family and others ran in to see what was going on, Cairn tried to kill Sarebaas and instead stabbed his sister who was trying to stop it and a flying spell set the barn on fire. After being arrested and taken to Kirkwall, Sarebaas -enslaved by the Qun all his life and now an attempt to a new life destroyed by racism- decided that it's better to be feared than a weapon in other people hands and so when Cairn tried to kill him again, making him escape, Sarebaas seized the occasion to chase the mask and exact revenge on everyone.
-Still a villain, but a villain caused by Cairn himself and by the Qun treatment of people. It's a very "Luke I'm your father" "That's not true! That's impossible!" moment, except Luke is the bad guy who caused everything and Vader is still the bad guy but he's spilling the beans.
-So Sarebaas thanks Cairn for "showing him the truth of the world" and the fight goes on.
-Josmael asks Tallis to pass him a knife and cuts himself on the hand, using blood magic to stop the bloodmagic. While the rest of the group keeps Sarebaas busy, Josmael calls the blood out of the mask. No blood, no mask power, no mask power, no ritual. The Fade rift that was forming closes. Cairn gets ellectrocuted by magic but Tallis manages to put the qun control collar on Sarebaas, making him powerless.
-Cairn dies *world smallest violin plays* and when Tallis asks why he didn't tried to live his life Sarebaas tells her "You heard me talking to your Templar. I try and failed. Then I had the means to do harm... So I took them." and his "Qunari made me this way" bit, making the audience realize that while this doesn't justify Sarebaas actions, Thedas denied his attempts to be something that wasn't a weapon at every turn.
-Since there is no romance nobody particularly cares for Cairn, so Tallis is still intentioned to bring Sarebass back in chains.
-Sarebaas and Tallis are stopped by Josmael, who tells him he can't forgive him, but he knows part of his struggles, since the same people who denied a new life to him are the people who try to kidnap dalish kids with magic.
-Josmael looks at Sarebaas who nods and two spells make two things happen: his collar is broken and the second spell turns him into ice, breaking him in pieces and killing him. Sarebaas dies, but he dies free.
-Instead of having Josmael randomly hug Tallis in the end after she stabbed him, stole from his clan and treathened him, she argues with Josmael because she wanted to bring the prisoner to the Qun, but then she realizes that she is alone against two and angrily leaves.
-But first, Nyree throws the money of her payment (who were the clan stolen money) to Josmael, then takes Tallis money for herself.
-Nyree tells Josmael he is a great First and will one day be a great Keeper too and Josmael gives her an elven token of friendship so that other clans she could meet will recognize her as a friend of the People. He tells her it's not guaranteed that all clans will accept her, but still.
-They bury Fina together.
-Camera shows the sunset on Soundermount.
-The End.
Also yes, it is possible to interact with Josmael the First in Dragon Age 2 at the Sabrae camp in my mind. Because Merrill needs her people tp support her.

Note
Do you know if it's established in Dragon Age lore anywhere whether or not Keepers/Firsts in Dalish clans have relationships or get married? I can't remember any mention of a Keeper's spouse but I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't.
Marethari as First was married to the clan’s Second, before he and the Keeper were killed (and she became the new Keeper.) Josmael, the Dalish First then Keeper in Redemption, was engaged. And one can guess Zathrian had a spouse at some point, given he had two children and thus it seems likely.
