what about a fic with Joe mazzello where your like...."huh babe yknow this other actor named joseph quinn in st4 sort of looks like your portrayal of John" and teasing him about it
Yes! You can bet I can take advantage of our new Tumblr Sexy man Joseph Quinn and his physical similarities to Joe!!!
(I swear, they need to play brothers someday!!!)
So first, let's make this a headcanon. And secondly, let's make the reader gender neutral.
COMMENTS AND REBLOGS ARE APPRECIATED!!
TW: Swearing, but pretty fluffy and that's about it.
So Joseph was upstairs playing video games while you were downstairs.
One plus about your relationship is that you recognized the need for space and appreciation for different interests :)
As he was pressing a button to make Mario jump for a coin he heard the distinct sound of a riffing guitar with some thunder downstairs. But today was a hot summer's day with the crickets lazily chirping as the bright sun faded. Not one dark cloud in the sky.
Hearing more, it was Master of Puppets by Metallica. He shrugged it off and kept playing.
He cursed when he lost his last life, unable to hear your footsteps up.
"Babe! Babe! You got to see this!" You said with urgency. Your eyes were wide with excitement more than panic.
"Y/N, what is it?" he asked, turning to look at you. His red hair messy from a whole day inside.
"Come downstairs...there's a guy on the new season of Stranger Things who looks like you!" you explained.
He follows down in curiosity. You pause and rewind the episode, muttering "blah blah blah skip skip skip show us Eddie!"
You then paused right on a frame of the Eddie in question.
"His hair is too long, sweetie!" Joe objected.
You whipped out your phone and pulled out a picture of your Joe as Deaky.
He blinked and his eyes darted from the phone to the tv to the phone and back again.
"H...Holy shit..." he mumbled.
"And wait until you see him without the wig!" you added on. You reached down on your phone and searched up a photo.
"The guy who plays him, get this, he's named Joe too!"
"What!?"
"Yes," you pulled up a photo of the other Joe in the phone and shoved it to the present Joe's face.
"And he looks like this!" you cried.
Joseph Mazzello's eyes went big at the sight and he began nodding in appreciation. Similar reddish hair. Similar face structure. Similar foreheads.
"Huh...his eyes are darker, and the bulb of his nose is rounder, I think," you said, you took Joe's face in your hands and "examined" it, much to his amusement.
"Maybe my mom doesn't have a secret about John Deacon but his father!" he joked. Both of you giggled.
"I'll let you know, he's everywhere on the internet. Buzzfeed, Tumblr, Twitter, Insta, and Facebook even. They're mad about him and his character in Stranger Things." you explained
Joe put his hands on his hips
"They could have cast me!"
"But what about your new movie?" you asked with a laugh.
"That's not the point!"
Both of you giggled and he placed his hands around your waist.
"Then, I better watch out if he gets near you." he teased. "I know you got a type now! He better not steal you away from me!"
"Not in a million years!" you insisted.
You gave him a kiss on the tip of his nose. "But he's not my Joe. My Joe is funny and multi-talented, and smart, and adorable, and not to mention pretty dark sexy..."
"Sexy, eh?" he returned with a kiss on the lips.

Disney World Imagines | Joe Mazzello
hey howdy hey, friends! this idea spawned from @queen-irl-af‘s amusement park imagine series. since i am the definition of a disnerd, it sparked headcanons for me that i came up with, based on her description. for my series, i ranked each park from most favorite to least favorite, described their all-around feelings/personality during a trip to disney, and then “visited” each park seperately to let you know what the ultimate day would consist of. I will also leave a description of the moodboard at the end of post!
I hope you enjoy! i would love your thoughts.
JOE’S FAVORITES (most - least)
Animal Kingdom
Magic Kingdom
Hollywood Studios
Epcot
He is the most willing to wear matching shirts and do character meet and greets with you. He’ll be the most passionate about a Disney Trip out of any of the guys.
Resort choice doesn’t matter much to him. If you’re feeling particularly magical, he’ll indulge your desire for the Little Mermaid Suite at Art of Animation or the Royal Guest Room at Port Orleans River Side. The BoardWalk is probably your shared favorite!
ANIMAL KINDOM My dude seems like he would like the World of Avatar and be really hyped on the idea of riding on the back of a Banshee during Flight of Passage. He really enjoys the beautiful, precise theming of this part of the park. His favorite ride is a toss up between Expedition Everest and Dinosaur (for obvious reasons). He always makes you fling a hair tie onto Mount Everest when you reach the broken tracks and he doesn’t care how scared you are of the Carnotaurus, you’re sitting closest to it! The Festival of the Lion King show is ALWAYS a must. Joe prefers to sit on the giraffe side because he likes the sound they make but he’s not exactly picky. The food underwhelms him at Animal Kingdom - he’d rather eat at the resort you’re staying at or at Disney Springs.
MAGIC KINDOM This guy is a Magic Kingdom PURIST if I ever saw one. His favorite rides are the Jungle Cruise for all of the jokes and Pirates of the Caribbean (because it’s the last ride Walt Disney took part in developing before he died). He also enjoys The Haunted Mansion, The Enchanted Tiki Room, The Hall of Presidents, Country Bear Jamboree, Splash Mountain, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and Peter Pan’s Flight. He needs at LEAST one Dole Whip during his visit. He’s not opposed to a Mickey Pretzel either. He pretends to by unamused by the Tangled Lantern photo op and will probably definitely share the photo on social media. He wraps his arms around you from behind and wipes away your tears while you watch Happily Ever After together, right in front of the castle. There will be a number of comments made throughout the day about how excited he is to bring your children there in the future.
HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS Probably a huge grumpy gills when it comes to Hollywood Studios, as it’s changed dramatically over the years. You lost count of how many times he made a comment about The Great Movie Ride being shut down in 2017. He loves Tower of Terror and Rock’n Rollercoaster, as well as The Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular and Muppet 3-D. He spends most time exploring Sunset Boulevard’s gift shops and food market. Toy Story Land underwhelms him and he hopes that Galaxy’s Edge will be more enjoyable (once it’s not super crowded); The Launch Bay will do for now! Dinner is always at ’50s Prime Time Cafe and he purposely doesn’t eat his vegetables so that his “cousin” scolds him for it. You ALWAYS catch Fantastmic, and it makes both of you emotional. There are probably a lot of kisses and hand holding during it.
EPCOT My boy is here to drink around the world and that’s Epcot’s main purpose for him. It is very hard to keep up with him because he has a high tolerance. He pretends he’s too cool to ride Frozen Ever After but is the one who is singing Let It Go by the time you reach Elsa’s palace. His favorite countries are Germany and France, and you usually prefer to eat at Biergarten. Spaceship Earth is his favorite ride and the Land Pavilion is his last and favorite stop in the park. He loves the Flower and Garden Festival for the character foliage and Violet Lemonade.
Moodboard, clockwise: The Festival of the Lion King, ‘50s Prime Time Cafe, Fantasmic, Frozen Ever After, Matching Tees, Dinosaur, Dole Whip, The Tangled Lantern, Violet Lemonade

Can I request a fluffy Joe Mazzello x fem. reader long fic where it’s their 9 month old baby daughter’s first Christmas and reader melts at the sight of Joe holding their daughter and showing her all of the presents she’s got and their daughter says dada and Joe and reader light up at how much of a daddy’s girl she is and reader thinks about how when she signed up to play an extra on Bohemian Rhapsody that she never thought she would end up falling in love on set?
of course!
FIRST CHRISTMAS
pairings: Joe Mazzello x Fem!reader summary: ^^^ warnings: None note: y/d/n stands for your daughters name
"oh and look at this!" you heard your husband say downstairs.
you walked downstairs and caught Joe holding your little daughter while showing her the christmas gifts she had gotten
she giggled and took it off him, throwing it on the floor
"no, no. don't throw it, play with it" Joe picked up the care bear and put in front of your daughter and waving it around
"well good morning" you yawned.
Joe looked up and you and smiled like an idiot, your daughter looked over and laughed
"good morning, darling" Joe greeted
"Merry christmas" you walked up the them, sitting on the couch, leaning down to kiss Joe who was situated on the floor, next to the lit up tree.
"how long have you been up?" you asked him and they looked like they have been there a while
"i took her down here about thirty minutes ago, I wanted her to see her presents" he shrugged
"and you couldn't wait for me?"
"not really no, you looked to cute to wake up" you looked back down and your daughter and made a silly face at Y/D/N before looking back up at you
"you should've just woken me up" you stated, looking down at your little baby, you've always noticed how much she looks like Joe. a spitting image of him, but she looked too much like him right now and it made your heart swell.
"I'm sorry, I was just too excited" he confessed, holding your daughter against his chest
you let out a breathy chuckle and closed your eyes.
"dada" Y/D/N whined, pointing at more presents under the tree
Joe pulled her away from his chest and looked at her, his mouth was agape and he looked like he was about to cry
"darling, did you hear that?" Joe asked you
you shuffled closer to them and smiled at him even though he was focused on your baby
"I did joe, I heard it clear as day"
you rubbed joe's arms from behind and rested your chin on shoulder, looking down at your little daughter, smiling at her gratefully
"I told you she was a dada's girl" he whispered to you, finally looking away from her.
"I never doubted it"
"I love you" he said kissing you softly
"I love you too" you smiled at him sweetly
"what did you want, sweetie?" Joe asked your daughter
you thought back to when you were an extra on Bohemian Rhapsody and how you two met and what would've happened if you didn't.
--
you were sitting down on your phone, waiting with other extras to be called on to go on in the scene, you were focused
"hey, you" you looked up and noticed the director standing front of me
"yes?" you smiled politely.
"I need you to go get joe, he's on in 5" he said.
"alright" you stood up and went out to the trailers, looking at the doors for him name written on it.
Rami, Ben, Joe.
you go up to the door and knock three times and waiting for a response
"come in" he replied through the door
he probably thought it was ben.
I opened the door slowly and peeked in, seeing him in his little couch on his phone
"the director wants you to know that you're on in 5" you stated as you entered his view
he didn't respond to you though, you though he was being rude and just ignoring you but the look on his face made you feel otherwise.
his mouth was slightly open and his eyes were relaxed, he looked sort of dazed and off in the clouds, it didn't make you uncomfortable per se, you just felt weak under his gaze.
"excuse me?" you forced yourself to say to snap him out of his daydream
"oh, right ok. just wait there" he said as he saw you were about to leave.
he put his phone away and got up. walking towards you
"who are you, exactly?" he questioned as you waked down the steps with him behind you
"I'm an extra" you responded
"no I meant your name" he chuckled
"oh um, Y/n"
"I'm joe" he smiled warmly
"I know" you took a deep breath
"do you now?" he responded in amusement
"well yeah, I feel like I have to" you smiled sheepishly
"you have a really pretty smile" he told you, looking down at your lips to your eyes.
"oh" you let out an embarrassed laugh as you looked down, tucking a piece of your curled hair behind your ear
"thanks"
"I'm sorry, just the way you're sweet, cute and beautiful at the same time is beyond me"
"oh my god" you muttered to yourself, you felt your cheeks turn warm and your stomach did flips.
"ok so wait other than taking my breath away what do you do for a living?" he smirked playfully. you turned you head away and covered your face with your hands.
"never heard that one before" you laughed, still looking anywhere but at him
"get used to it" he said
--
"this is the best christmas" Joe sighed happily

Look After You | Joe Mazzello
𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: joe mazzello x gn! reader
𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆(𝐒): eXtra fluffy but that’s not really a warning
𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘: there’s been a heavy weight in joe’s mind, and an equally heavy weight in his pocket.
𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓(𝐒): look after you- the fray
𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓: 1.2k
Quiet days like these were what you lived for. Days where you didn't have to worry about work demanding your attention, or the loving yet unwanted company of friends coming along and knocking at your door. Today was just you, sweatpants rolled up at the ankles, music cranked up to an almost dangerous volume, and your cat.
Though, you couldn't help but admit you wished Joe had gotten a day off too.
It wasn't often you and Joe had the same days off. Your schedules always clashed in that way. It was almost impressive that your relationship had managed to get as far as it had, with all the last minute change of plans, the long distance phone calls, the teary eyed video chats, and those times where a 'date' was really just getting coffee together before dropping Joe off on set.
Sometimes you'd go days at a time as passing ships in the night, being too exhausted and overworked to do anything but order takeout and fall asleep in each others arms.
Joe always expressed how guilty he felt because of this, wishing your schedules would line up for just a while and he could be there with you on these quiet days off. He worried sometimes, that those late night whispers and early morning kisses weren't enough for you.
Granted, it was hard, but you couldn't picture yourself with anyone else. You'd wait for Joe- even if it meant the only time you heard his voice was through the crackle of your headphones.
At the very least, Joe's current film project wasn't too far from home, which made it so his schedule was a lot less stressful, and he had thankfully been home every night since the project started.
This didn't change the fact that he wished to be home with you, watching as you sorted through your CD shelf that could never stay organized, or laughing as you slow danced with your cat around the kitchen. He wanted to be there for those moments, no matter how small and seemingly mundane they were.
Though while the back of his mind felt guilty, the voice in his heart spoke love. He, too, couldn't see himself coming home to anyone else.
How could he? To him, you were home.
That's how Joe felt as he got back to the apartment in the early evening, patting a pocket of his jacket as he hung it up and glancing around at the freshly mopped floor, smelling the scented candles you loved to burn and hearing a soft ballad coming from the speakers in the living area. It was you he came home to, and it could never possibly be the same without you.
As Joe went to call out for you and announce his presence, he noticed a mess of fur peeking out around the corner. A mess of fur that meowed and blinked at him as he came closer.
"Hey there, Peaches." Joe cooed, managing to crouch down close enough to run his fingers along the fluff of Peaches' belly. "Where's Y/N? Can you find them for me, bud?"
Peaches seemed reluctant to get up from his spot, ever the lazing sort, but dutifully rose from his comfortable floorboards and began trotting along towards the bathroom just down the hall, of which had a citrusy cleaner scent radiating from inside.
As Joe came upon the open bathroom door, there he saw you, laying on the pristine mopped floor- directly in the centre, chewing on a liquorice wand.
You hadn't heard him come in due to the music down the hall being much too loud- not to mention you'd been persistently humming along to the lyrics.
Peaches took initiative and hopped up onto the counter, which brought your attention to him, and ultimately, Joe.
"You're home!" You exclaim, sitting up and reaching out a hand towards him.
Joe chuckled, grabbing hold of your wrist to safely and securely pull you up to stand, pressing a quick kiss to your cheek.
"I am," Joe smiled, taking a bite from the liquorice wand when you offered it to him, "how was your day?" He asked.
You finish off the liquorice and rest your forearms on his shoulders, linking your hands behind his head as you both begin to sway to the music together.
"Good," You hum as Joe leans his head against yours, “Peaches and I got a lot done.”
“I can tell.” He observed, recalling the shiny floor in the front hallway, and the couch pillows that had been placed neatly and aesthetically along the cushions.
Joe listened to you hum happily along with the music, and he danced with you, one hand resting on your waist while the other reached over along the counter to give Peaches’ a couple loving scratches.
“How was work?” You asked, playing with the hair at the back of his neck.
Joe grumbled tiredly, sighing against your shoulder, “I missed you.”
“Well, I’m right here.” You assure.
He shakes his head, “I want you to always be right here… I know it’s hard sometimes, and I’m sorry-”
You cut him off, pulling away only enough to look him in the eyes, “Joe, stop.”
He does as you ask, sighing as you analyze the love he has in his heart and that doubt in the back of his mind. You pick him apart so easily, as if his emotions are a book to be read.
“I’m always gonna be right here, Dino Boy, I’m not going anywhere.” You smile, pulling back and cupping his jaw in one hand, gaining a small quirk of Joe’s lips as you do so.
“Marry me.”
You freeze entirely, looking stunned at Joe’s adoring yet nervous expression.
“Really?” You whisper.
“Really, really.” He breathes out, matching your tone, taking your hand from his jaw and holding it against his chest. “I mean it, Y/N, marry me.”
The phrase registers, and your dazed demeanour bleeds away into joy and amusement, “Joseph Francis Mazzello the third, you most certainly did not just propose to me in our bathroom.” You chuckle, a little teary eyed as his forehead presses against yours.
“Is that a no?” He chuckles along too, knowing his timing wasn’t exactly perfect- if anything, it’d just slipped out before he could bite his tongue- but he’d be lying if he said he hadn’t been thinking about it for a while.
He just couldn’t believe he’d been carrying around that damned ring in his jacket pocket for two months only to end up blurting out the proposal as he and the love of his life swayed along to ballad music in the citrus air of their recently cleaned bathroom.
“That’s an ‘I can’t believe I’m gonna be dealing with you for the rest of my life’, Mr Mazzello.” You beam, pressing a kiss to his cheek as he laughs.
“Would you like to see your ring?” Joe asks, taking your hands and guiding you along down the hall.
You gasp, “There’s a ring?”
Peaches brushes up against your legs as he passes by on the way to his litter box, meowing as he went, while you and Joe maintained the lighthearted and excited conversation of a newly engaged couple.
“I think you should wear that dinosaur printed bow tie of yours at our wedding.” You tease, watching Joe fumble with his jacket.
“Oh, absolutely.”
Joe Mazzello deserves the world, I said what I said. Also stan Peaches the cat he was a delight to write for, AND EXCITING TIMES: WE GOT OUR FIRST REQUEST!! It’ll be written up and posted v soon, thank you to that anonymous person for being the legend they are -♠️

Joe Mazzello: the fluffy chronicles.
“You’d be better off with someone else”
Despite thinking long and hard, you weren’t able to answer the question “what you like the most about yourself,” because the truth was, there wasn’t such a thing. You hated your looks and your personality and your insecurity and… well, everything. The only good thing you found in your life was your relationship with Joe. He was a great boyfriend, very patient and understanding, but also loving and gentle. You loved spending your time with him – that is of course until the insecurity kicks in and ruin all the fun for you. You looked at him – a handsome, attractive man with a great sense of humor and amazing personality – and you couldn’t believe you dated him. But what you couldn’t believe even more, is why he dated you. In your opinion, he could’ve had any girl. He was charming, interesting and famous. There wasn’t a bad quality about him that you knew about. And yet he chose you, a “walking disaster,” as you liked to call yourself. And from that insecurity (and only from it, because Joe gave you no reason to think that) stem the idea that he will soon realize how bad you are, and how much better he can do, and he will leave you. So to save yourself some of the pain, you slowly started to distance yourself from him to make it easier later. It didn’t escape his attention.
You were sitting on a couch, watching a movie, but it wasn’t the usual scenario. Before, you would be snuggling to him and he would be petting your back. Right now, you were sitting at a distance, focusing on the movie instead of your boyfriend. He noticed.
“Y/N?” He looked at you concerned. “Did something happen?” He knew he had to be careful around you when you were feeling down. You were very fragile and he didn’t want to do anything to accidentally make it worse.
“No, why?” You looked at him for a short while and then came back to watching the movie. He moved closer to you and put his arm around you. You didn’t object, but your body was visibly tense.
“Are you sure? You seem a little different tonight,” he, on the other hand, paid no attention to the movie. He was completely focused on you.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you lied. It wasn’t a comfortable situation for you either. You missed his touch, but when you finally got it, you felt like you didn’t deserve it, like he should be with someone else right now, someone better than you. So you felt guilty for wasting his time.
“What’s with the distance then? And the sudden urge to watch the movie? We’ve seen it twice already, you never paid much attention to it,” he explained, but in truth, it wasn’t just about tonight. He felt your change of behavior much earlier than that, but for a while he thought it was just a phase that would soon pass.
“Third time’s a charm. I thought since we watched it so many times already, it would be nice to see the full movie at least once, to know what it is about,” he nodded at your answer. It sounded reasonable and you felt even worse about lying now that he believed in it.
He let it go for some time. Later that evening, you were making dinner and he came up to you, hug you from behind and started kissing your neck, as he usually did, to make your cooking a more pleasant experience. Usually you stopped, at least for some time, to enjoy his touch, but tonight you just continued making the meal ignoring his affection. You even moved away, trying to reach some ingredients, without minding his embrace. He stepped back.
“What is it this time?” he asked knowing very well it was never about the movie. He looked at you hurt and disappointed, but more in himself than in you. He hated the fact he couldn’t help you feel better.
“It’s nothing, really. I’m just really hungry, want to make the food quickly,” lies again. He didn’t fall for it twice, but he nodded his head, knowing you won’t tell him. You sighed seeing that. You didn’t want your last days together to be like that. You wanted him to have nice memories of you. “Don’t worry, Joey,” you muttered quietly while coming back to cooking. “The next girl will treat you better.”
“What?” he raised his brow, not believing what he just heard. “My next what?”
“Next girlfriend,” you repeated, not looking at him.
“Where did that come from? Why would I want another girlfriend?” he asked, visibly confused. He definitely didn’t expect to hear that.
“You know, someone who’s worthy of you. Someone… Who isn’t me,” it wasn’t easy to say, but it resonated in your mind for some time now. You believed wholeheartedly that you weren’t good enough for him.
“If my future girlfriend isn’t you, then I don’t want her,” you smiled under your breath hearing that. It was very sweet of him to say that.
“Joey, we both know you deserve so much better than me. Prettier, skinnier, smarter and funnier,” you said, trying to smile, but it wasn’t easy. “You deserve someone who will make you happy, instead of constantly getting you down. You deserve someone around who you won’t have to mind your words. A relationship in which you can be yourself, unapologetically, without always doing something for the other person.”
“I am unapologetically myself around you. It doesn’t bother me that you feel down sometimes. I mean of course, it’s a problem in a sense I would immediately want to make you feel better and I don’t like when you’re sad, but it’s not a thing that would make me break up with you, ever,” he held your hand to show you he means it.
“Baby, you can have a girl that’s so much prettier than me. And sexier. What about your friend? Or my cousin, you know which one,” you said and he laughed softly.
“Really, girly? You’re going to advertise me other women?” he smiled and pet your cheek. “I don’t want any other type of figure or any other type of beauty. I want your beauty. Why do you think I’m not capable of making my own decisions? I’m pretty grown up actually. I know you and I love what I know. I fell in love with you and not anyone else. And I’m very content with my choice. So let me have what I want, okay?”
“You will soon realize how awful I am and change your mind. Just wait, I know you will. And I don’t want to be around to have my heart broken when that happens,” he sighed hearing that and took his hand away.
“Really? You think I’m so moody that I would break up the happiest relationship I’ve ever had because of a whim? We don’t fight, we have mutual goals and we love each other. Why would anything change if it’s all so good? I like it now, I want to see no changes apart from you being happier and more confident in this relationship, because we… Well, we love each other still, right? I mean, do you love me?”
“Of course I do. I would be a fool not to love you,” you answered.
“That’s exactly how I feel about you. I love you, and I want to be with you and you only. You’re perfect for me, no one else is,” he reassured you. You sighed.
“I’m not perfect,” you muttered, and he came to you and hugged you tightly.
“You’re perfect for me. There are girls who have other qualities, maybe they have something that you want, but for me, you’re all I need. You have all the qualities I want in a girlfriend. You say there are skinnier girls? Girls that feel happier more often? Maybe. But at the same time I’m sure they would be annoying, or bossy, or whatever else. They have other qualities, sure. Qualities I don’t need. I chose you with my sane mind. I knew who you are and I chose you. Now I got to know you even better and I would still choose you, every time,” you hugged him tightly and started crying quietly.
“Even if I’m so boring…?” you muttered quietly.
“You’re not boring,” he reassured you, petting your back. “Actually, you’re fascinating to me. I love listening to you, especially when you’re passionate about something. It’s just so entertaining to watch. And I love looking at you, because you’re just my type. You have such a unique type of beauty, it’s so hard to find someone like you. And I found everything I ever needed in you.”
“What if you find someone better?” you didn’t look up saying that.
“Better from perfect? I don’t think so. I don’t know how I can explain that to you in other words, but life is not about being skinny, having perfect hair and clothes. For me relationships aren’t about that. That actress that you like so much? If I were with her you would probably think “that’s what he deserves,” meanwhile I would be suffocating in that relationship. Because she wouldn’t want to spend time with me like we do together, she would have other priorities, she wouldn’t get my sense of humor or whatever else. Your personality is perfect for me. So is your body, but I assume you won’t believe in that yet. But it’s true. So please, don’t push me away. Having this distance between us is a torture, really. Please, let us both be happy. Just be with me, and I’ll try to do anything I can to appreciate you like you should be appreciated. Can you do that for me?” You slowly nodded your head and only then looked him in the eyes. He smiled at you and kissed your lips softly.
“You’re sure you don’t want anyone else?” you asked after the kiss.
“I’m sure. Can you please stop asking me this question? I want you and you only. Did I ever do anything to make you feel otherwise?”
“No…,” you muttered quietly.
“So, please, don’t overthink it. If I had anything new to say to you, I would just say it, I wouldn’t expect you to learn that from some signs I’d give you. Really, I love you, and I will continue to love you, even if you break up with me. But please, don’t. I’m crazy about you,” he smiled, petting your cheek. You stood on your toes and kissed him softly. He kissed you back.
“Thank you,” you smiled after the kiss.
“Don’t thank me for that. And come on, you were hungry. We got to finish the meal,” said and this time he actually helped you out, not just by kisses. Although he planted some on your head and shoulder, because without them, it just wouldn’t be the same.

___
How did this happen? You weren’t sure.
No, actually, you were exactly sure.
It was those damn letters. The letters that got you to take more than one look at your neighbor. The one letter that sparked the whole thing in all.
And now, here you were. Ah, yes, you, your boyfriend of a couple of years, and full-grown dog who insisted on sleeping right between the two of you, legs sprawled out.
Joe was supposedly asleep beside you, with Hades facing him, his nose and paws twitching as he seemed to be having a dream.
Meanwhile, you were getting no sleep. Laying on your side, you were texting with your father. Apparently, you grandmother was only getting sicker.
It seemed like she had been doing well, but now her health was spiralling down, almost twice as worse. And you didn’t want to imagine what might happen if it kept going.
Papa Can you make it next week?
Me I can see :(
Papa Ok dear, tell me when you arrive. Your mother, sister and I will be here.
Me For sure <3 but how long does she have left?
Papa A few more weeks, maybe, if she’s lucky. I dunno, n/n. But she wants to see you and Joe.
Me Got it-- i’ll update you soon. Love you, Papa
Papa Love you, too, sweetheart.
Although it didn’t look like it, you were more than worried. Only a few weeks left? That wasn’t enough time. Not enough time for her to see her grandkids grow up. Not enough time to see them get married, not enough time to travel back to her home country one last time without being miserable. Just not enough time.
It hurt.
“Y/n? Baby, why are you awake?” Joe asked, squinting at his phone screen to see what time it was.
Wiping away the developing tears, you turned off your phone and turned to face your boyfriend.
“No reason,” you murmured, looking over Hades’ head and fur to initiate eye contact with him. Of course, his face screamed that he knew you were lying.
“It’s like, two in the morning, and you usually love sleep. What’s wrong?” he mumbled quietly, reaching over the dog to intertwine hands.
“My grandma is sick,” you finally admitted. “Well, getting sicker, that is.”
His eyes became more awake at this. Usually, that wasn’t a strange statement to him, but from the time you were telling him this and the way you said the sentence itself, it sounded worse than all the other times he had heard it.
Squeezing you hand gently, he asked, “How much longer?”
“A couple of weeks.”
Some silence to let the information settle in his mind.
“Well, we better visit her soon, then, right?” he said, almost optimistically.
Exhaling, a bit amused, you nodded. “Yeah, soon. But I’ve got a lot of requests, and I’ll have to reschedule some appointments-”
“It’ll be okay, they’ll understand,” Joe insisted, knowing where you were going with this. If you had to take a trip somewhere on a short notice, it usually meant disappointing some costumers and even angering a few, too. Which you always hated doing, putting yourself to the highest standards.
“But what about all th-”
“It’ll be okay,” he repeated. “I promise. Besides, i’m here to help take care of everything anyway,” he reassured, his thumb brushing against the back of your hand comfortingly. “We can figure this out when the sun is actually awake. I’ll be here, it’ll be alright.”
“Okay,” you agreed tiredly, still a little on edge with everything. But your body seemed to say sleep was the number one priority.
“Okay,” he echoed quietly, releasing your hand momentarily to brush the hair away from your face before intertwining hands again. “Goodnight, n/n. I love you.”
“I love you, too, Joe.”
Days later, you were back in your hometown, with Joe helping your carry luggage out and into your father’s car.
“There you guys are! The rest of us are waiting with your grandmother in her room,.” you father laughed, giving you a kiss on the forehead when he exited the vehicle.
“Hey, Papa,” you said brightly, giving him a brief hug before putting the last of the luggage into the trunk.
“Where’s that little dog of yours?”
“He’s with one of my friends, so he’ll be fine,” Joe answered, coming back from putting his share away.
“Ah, Joseph!” your father said enthusiastically, giving him a tight hug as well, to which Joe returned gratefully.
When you first introduced your boyfriend to your family, they were ecstatic that you had found someone. Admittedly, you father was harder to get to, but it wasn’t long before they were asking you about him if he was at work, or asking when marriage and children were coming along.
It was a bit embarrassing at times, admittedly.
Upon arriving at your grandmother’s hospital room, the first thing you noticed was your poor grandma and the gifts all around her. It seemed her old friends and neighbors had gotten message of her worsening condition, as well.
Sitting right next to her was your mother and younger sister.
“Oh, Joe, Y/n, you’re here,” your mother said first, relieved. She gave the both of you a hug, giving you a kiss on the cheek and squeezing your boyfriend’s arm, as if trying to make sure you were both really there.
“Hey, m/n,” he greeted, resting a hand on her shoulder comfortingly.
“Mama,” you said, giving her an almost melancholy smile.
“Jeez, not even a hello?” s/n said, feigning annoyance as she stood.
You rolled your eyes playfully at your sister, giving her a hug as well. “If you were patient, then you would’ve gotten one,” you said, mocking her a little while doing so.
“Whatever, this is why Joe is my favorite out of the both of you,” she teased, hugging you in return before giving the same greeting to your boyfriend.
You gasped. “I am offended!” you said, as the two of them let out a hearty laugh.
“Well, I am honored,” Joe answered, playing along.
The laughter of you all quieted down quickly, since the last person you were to greet was your dear grandmother. She was sitting up in her bed, a fond smile on her face as she watched the interactions between the two of you.
“The gang’s all together?” she questioned, shakily opening her arms for a hug. You took up the space immediately, wrapping your arms around her gently. Her scent was exactly the same as always, with that hint of cinnamon and the garden she usually kept behind her home.
“Oh, yes, Grandma,” you nodded, trying to imprint this moment into your mind forever, since you didn’t really exactly know how long she was going to stay here.
“Where’s my great-grandbabies?” she scolded out of the blue.
You gave out a laugh. “We don’t have children yet!” you exclaimed, pulling away to let Joe take your place.
“Oh, well, you guys will do,” she sighed, grinning as she saw Joe come for the hug. She gave him a kiss on the cheek, mumbling something about youngsters these days taking longer than in her time.
It was peaceful, it was quiet. Somewhere, in the back of everyone’s minds (except perhaps the woman in question), you all knew that these moments will be the most precious ones created in all this year.
Despite being so sick, it seemed like she could talk forever, talking about her childhood friends, what her husband would’ve done if he were still alive, or whatever a neighbor told her last month about the damn animals getting into their gardens and eating the plants.
This went on for the days you stayed there. You all stayed in hotels, but occasionally visited her home to check up on everything that was left there.
Your stay lasted only four days, as you and Joe had work, of course, but you were leaving terribly late in the night. Because of this, you both had opted to spend pretty much the whole day with her, starting really early in the morning. The rest of your family would come later to see you off.
Oddly, your grandma seemed to only want to see Joe for a moment.
“Out of the room, n/n, I need to give this boy a talking before y’all go,” she said, insisting you leave the room.
Reluctantly respecting your grandmother’s wishes, you left and shut the door behind you.
Once you were allowed back in, Joe didn’t say anything, and neither did you grandma. You were worried she threatened him or something, but doubted it a lot since they both seemed to be in good spirits. Hell, Joe seemed even happier than before.
And when the rest of your family had arrived hours later, Joe stood up from his place, receiving another kiss on the cheek from your grandmother. You could’ve sworn she said, ‘good luck’.
Clearing his throat, he turned to you, almost nervous.
“Y/n,” he started, pausing to make sure he had everyone’s attention. “I bet you can remember the first thing that really had us talking. You needed to visit your grandmother and I had decided I would dog-sit Hades.”
Another pause.
“And I bet you remember the misplaced letter, and the one I gave you the moment I got the courage to ask you out,” he continued. “And I bet you remember that that was a long time ago. Well, really only a couple of years ago, but still.” A gradual smile seemed to grow on his face and the others around you.
However, this moment seemed to be taking longer to process for you.
“Well, I think those letters were the greatest thing to happen to me. If it hadn’t gotten us to notice each other, I bet I wouldn’t be standing here right now. I bet I wouldn’t have been walking barefoot with you in a park as we laughed at all our past mistakes. I bet I wouldn’t be nearly as much in your life as I am now.” Suddenly, his hand went to his pocket, reaching for something.
Oh. Oh.
“And every day, I keep reminding myself how lucky it is that that had happened. How lucky I am to know you and be apart of your life,” he added. “Because of that, I’d like to make sure that I stay in your life till the end of time, and that, hopefully, you’d like to stay in mine, too.”
And suddenly, he was down on one knee, a velvet box open in his hand with a modest ring sitting on a little cushion.
“So, that begs the question, y/n.” You barely registered the gasp coming from mother, and the eager recording of the situation by your sister.
“Will you marry me?”
Those words. Oh, you had dreamt of those words ever since you could comprehend the meaning of love and marriage as a little girl. They set your heart on fire, and to say you were surprised was an understatement. It made you shoot out of your seat, your hand coming to your mouth in shock.
He had a nervous smile on his face as he looked up at you, waiting patiently for your answer.
“Yes,” you said. “I- oh my lord, yes!” you repeated, almost not believing the situation at hand.
That was all Joe needed, because not even a second later he was standing again, wrapping his arms around you and giving you a loving kiss. Cheers had erupted in the room and somehow from in the hall beside you (some people had noticed this little proposal).
The ring was perfect, nothing too flashy, but more than enough. And it fit perfectly on your ring finger.
Your father gave Joe a pat on the back, more than happy with the outcome, and your sister waited excitedly for you to show her your new ring. There were near tears in your mother’s eyes, and your grandma? She looked the happiest she could’ve ever been since becoming confined to the hospital building. You caught a little twinkle in her eyes, which told her that perhaps she had something to do with this. Actually, she definitely had something to do with it.
“I love you, I love you, I love you,” your new fiance said, repeated the words under his breath when you parted from the kiss. His forehead leaned on yours as he looked into your eyes. For a moment, everyone had forgotten their troubles.
“How long did you plan this?” you asked quietly and curiously.
“I didn’t!” he laughed. “Well, proposing? For a long time, actually, but not how. Your grandmother organized it this morning, had even talked to your family before asking me to pop the question. The ring was her mother’s. Think she said she found it only a few days before being moved to the hospital. Did you like it?” “The ring or the proposal?” “Both,” he shrugged.
“I loved it,” you said, entangling your hands in his hair. “And I love you.”
“Good. Because I love you, too!”
In that moment, you knew everything was gonna be alright.
Everything was gonna be okay.

the end!! i might add another part fast forward in time, ngl. if you guys want to see that, then sure! i will probably also be adding joe’s p.o.v. when he was talking with your grandma about the sudden proposal.
and just to make sure: they did not make him propose, obviously, if it seemed like that. she of course cleared it up and made sure it was something he wanted to do!!
anyway, here’s the taglist for what i’m assuming is this fic only. please ask if you’d like to be added to the permanent taglist!

He doesn't remember me
Summary: Joe had to leave you and your newborn son, Joey for 2 months because of a project he had. He didn’t want to leave as he loved you with all his heart. What happens when he comes back. Will Joey recognize his dad?
Words: 1272
Warning: It's too sweet it might cause cavities
A/N: Hope you like this image of Joe. I have always had this idea of Joe being a dad and just had to do this. This is my second imagine hope you like it. I will appreciate if you could give me feedback
Joe had to leave again to film a new movie. You were used by now after being with Joe for 4 years. It was his job and you supported him. The problem was that he was leaving for 2 months. It wasn’t a problem, as previously he had already left this amount of time and more. The only problem is that you now had a 9 months old baby boy. When Joe found out you where pregnant he wouldn’t let you do anything by yourself. He had also decided to drop all the roles that weren’t within an hour's drive from your house. He didn’t want you to be alone and wanted to protect you at all costs. This was the first role he had after your baby was born. He was going to London and you couldn’t travel because you didn’t want Joey to be on an airplane for 12 hours it was just too much for him. Also, Joe’s schedule was pretty hectic so he wouldn't have much time.
“I can’t leave you guys, I'm just going to tell my agent I can’t,” He said while pulling silly faces at your bundle of joy that was currently sitting at the top of his stomach.
“Baby, it’s going to be alright we will FaceTime you everyday ” Joe made a sad face to Joey and he let out a loud laugh. Joe smiled slightly.
“Promise?”
“Of course” He then put his arm around you and Joey shifted to lay down in between you.
“I love you so much”
“We love you too” With that, all the three of you drifted to sleep.
-Time Skip - *2 months later
You had called Joe every day as promised and face time as much time as he had available. He suffered the most as you had Joey there with you every day and Joe was all by himself. Joey had missed his dad as they were inseparable but with the time he had forgotten he had a dad. He had grown up a lot. He was now eating full foods and mainly solid foods. He was also way more active than he was before. He would crawl everywhere and you had to put security in every corner. The greatest thing he had done so far was walking with your help and when grabbing into furniture. Joe was so happy when you had told him and ended him the videos but that suddenly changed to sadness as he remembered he wasn’t there and he wasn't there to see his kid growing up.
This had been a long journey but Joe was retuning today. You were super excited running around the house doing all types of chores before Joe arrived home, you wanted it to be perfect. You had finished all the chores, cooked and you still had 2 more hours before Joe arrived. You decided to cuddle with Joey as it was his nap time and watch some tv before Joe arrived.
You might have accidentally fallen asleep while waiting. You woke up to the sound of the door closing. As soon as you heard the door you stood up and carried Joey. Joey shifted in your arms as he stretched. He looked up at you with a disoriented face as “why did you wake me up”. I just smiled and kissed him.” dada, is here” Joey looked like he didn’t care and just put his head in the crook of my neck. I kissed the top of his head as I headed down to the first floor. You saw Joe leaving his suitcases next to the door and going out to pay for the cab. You finished going down the stairs and waited for him at the bottom. Joey was sound asleep in your arms. When Joe came back again, as soon as he saw you he ran to where you where standing grabbed your face and gave you such a passionate kiss. With your free hand, you grabbed his neck. You pulled apart when you felt a little hand stretching. Joey looks annoyed as to how they had woken him up. He saw his dad.
“Hey Love”
“Hi Babe ”
“I can’t believe your here, I missed you”
“Babe I missed you so much you can’t even imagine” That's when Joey's head popped up and he looked straight at Joe with a confused expression in his face.
“Hey Buddy, I missed you so much. You have gotten so big,” Joey said while making arms to the little bud in your arms. He clung his little hand in the collar of your shirt. You handed Joey to Joe. Joey looked at you and you knew what was about to happen. Suddenly you heard a loud scream from your son.
“Hey, bud what’s wrong” Joe cooed and bounce him up and down to try and calm him down. Joey was trying to grab you and made hands to you. Joe finally gave up and handed him to you. Joey grabbed onto you as if his life depended on it. You gave him his pacifier and he was suddenly calm again. You looked up at Joe he had a sad expression and you could see that there where some tears that were threatening to fall.
“He doesn't remember me”
“Love he does it's just that he just woke up from a nap and he was a little grumpy”
“He doesn’t want me, he doesn't know who I am” He looked at you and he had a tear slipping down his cheek. You wiped it with your thumb.
“He does and he loves you, I am going to put him down so he can finish his nap” He noded and you headed upstairs.
Once Joey was sleeping you headed to your room as you saw that it was the only room with the light on and you figured that Joe was there. You headed inside and saw Joe under the duvet watching some tv. You crawled under the duvet and hugged him. You grabbed his chin and hooked your lips together. You then rested your head in his chest.
“I missed you so much, love”
“Me too, and guess what, well my son doesn't recognize his dad,” He said sarcastically while playing with your hair.
“Hey, he does remember you he asked for you plenty of times”
“Well it looked liked he had seen a monster”
“Well he did,” You said and he started tickling you. “No, but he was just really grumpy babe”
“No it's my fault, I am never, ever going to go for more than a month and stay with you all the time”
“Omg, I married the most exaggerated person in the world” He looked at you and you could see a smile “Love he does remember you, he is just like his dad he is grumpy when they wake him up
“I hope, and I am not grumpy in the morning” you both started laughing. With that, you both cuddled and watched tv when eventually Joe fell asleep.
Time passed and you suddenly heard cries from the other room. Joey was up. You went to his room very carefully as not to wake up Joe as you knew that he was really tired. You picked Joey up and headed to your room. You laid Joey between you and Joe. He was looking up at up while he was playing with your hair and cuddling into your side. He then turned around and saw his dad laying there. He had his mouth slightly open and little snores came out of it. Joey propped his head up and started crawling in his direction. He suddenly put his arm onto Joe’s stomach and Joe suddenly woke up with an uff coming out of his mouth. He looked down and saw Joey smiling up at him.
“Hey Bud, How are you doing” Joe grabbed him and Joey laid his body on top of his. He snuggles close to his chest. You saw Joe smiling while looking down at his son.
“I think someone missed you” you then leaned over and kissed him. You loved your perfect little family.

nothing else will do, all I want is you this christmas. | j.m. x fem!reader
a/n; hi. so you probably seen the post where I explained I deleted my last piece for Joe. I was not happy with it and I had another idea just floating in my head. this I think is my fav yet, so I hope you enjoy! I also re-tagged everyone from the last post, hope that’s cool! you’re the best!
prompt; joe can’t make it home for Christmas.
words; 1.7k
mentions; lucy boynton, ben hardy, gwilym lee & rami malek. (this is set around borhap’s production)
this tale includes lots of fluff which may lead to a lot laughs and a bunch of sweet kisses.
inspiration;

You were heartbroken by the news of Joe not being able to come home for Christmas. This was going to be your first, elaborate holiday spent apart across the pond.
“I’m sorry, y/n.” Joe repeated for the fourth time in the last 30 minutes through the blue screen of your laptop during a somber video chat.
Joe has been working on a major project, Bohemian Rhapsody, in London while you were back home in New York. This was Joe’s biggest part yet and it was supposed to stop, momentarily, for a lengthy week of rest for the cast. Unfortunately they have a deadline to catch up to and can’t halt the production.
Smiling soft and shaking your head. “It’s not your fault. We’ll celebrate it once you get back!” Trying to change the mood of things, Joe smirked briefly before his eyes trailed off the screen.
You felt so bad, in the way that technology advanced in today’s world, you were wishing you could reach through the screen and hug him, hug all of his sadness away and kiss the straightness of his lips till it giggled against your lips, curling up. Telling him it was going to be okay. Nothing made you more upset then seeing your boyfriend, blaming himself for something that was out of his hands.
“Joey?” Watching his eyes look up at the sound of your voice. Breaking the silence, “Hm.” meeting the lens like he was looking into yours with all of his attention. “Please don’t beat yourself up for it, it’s okay.”
It wasn’t, not for him anyways.
Joe and you have been together for a little over a year. You met through mutual friends at a party and hit it off instantly. He wasn’t expecting you to come in his life. Joe had his fair share of relationships and flings to keep him steady, he was ready to settle the bat down after a shit game on the field of love. But he met you right before he benched himself. You’ve become his best friend, his confidant, his lover and all good things between or beyond since. He was lucky to have stumbled upon your path, grateful even. It was time like these that made him question if he deserved you.
In the many years of his acting career, this current film was the most challenging he’s ever experienced. The longest he’s ever been away from home too. It was worse taking up jobs like this knowing he had someone to come home. He doesn’t know how you’ve stayed this long. He swore the first time that he spent away from you, would be the last he’d ever see you. He would’ve understood you leaving too. You stayed though, he never understood that by a long shot but you did and he wanted nothing more than to be back home with you.
Falling into another silence, you spoke up again. “What’s going on in that mind of yours?”
“How you do it.” He remarked, gingerly. His chin resting on hands, peering back at you. You raised your brow in confusion, wondering where this was going. “Do what?” Your naivety getting the best of you.
He smirked at your dumbfounded expression, you really had no idea what you meant to him.
“Stay.” He said, feeling your lips turn up into a smirk you couldn’t put a stop to even if you wanted to.
Sometimes you really thought you weren’t good enough in the ways that Joe was good to you. You couldn’t begin on how much he meant to you. How important and how amazing he was to you. You had your share of boyfriends using your heart as a welcome mat. When Joe came into your life it was like nobody could ever show you greater if anything wrong were to happen to your relationship. He was your beacon of light, the most kind, most affection, fun and generous soul you ever had the honor of having in your life. To call yours, for hopefully forever if he’d have you. You couldn’t walk away from him.
You smiled, brightly at the fluffy red hair with a funny, but adorable perm right now and his hazel eyes gazing back at you. “Because,” you began. “I love you.” watching his cheeks grow a deep shade of pink as he wasn’t used to hearing that.
Soon after, Joe and you bid your goodbyes before closing down your laptop. You sighed to yourself, dimly. Your eyes following the glistening, warm Christmas lights scattered against walls in the living room up until you focused on tree. Covered in odd ornaments, admiring it. You wished you could bring Christmas to him.
That’s when it hit you, what if you could? Joe couldn’t fly out but nothing was stopping you from flying out to him! You were overjoyed by the idea, checking your calendar and immediately texting the best person you know would be down to help.
Lucy Goosy: Are you up??? I just had the best idea!!
+
Lucy was over the moon by your idea of coming to London to bring Christmas cheer to Joe. She was also so excited to have another female around on set for the next week to be honest.
You two had met earlier on in the year before Bohemian Rhapsody began to be filmed. It was a little get together between the cast and crew, you two hit it off well and absolutely adored each other. She would help you out sometimes on keeping a good eye on Joe and his well being. She was always rooted for Joe and you, she knew first hand how much you meant to him.
When you landed on english soil on Christmas Eve. Lucy had her driver pick you up at the airport. You sat in the back of the black SUV, your nerves shot and all over the place, anxious and excited all in one over what today was going to be like. You hadn’t seen him, physically, in months and you couldn’t wait much longer, it was driving you mad not seeing that goofy smile and those hazel eyes for so long.
You texted Lucy when you had arrived outside of the place where her and the boys were filming.
She had everything figured out, even jobs for the boys. Lucy was going to do everything in her willpower to make sure this goes perfect as planned.
Still waiting for the go to exit the SUV, Lucy opened the door.
“Y/N!” Lucy shouted, excited as you shared the same enthusiasm, leaping into her arms. “It’s so great to see you!”
Gwilym was standing behind her, I shot him a smile before I pulled away and gave him a hug too.
Lucy placed my hands into hers, “Okay, so Rami and Ben have Joe out and about for lunch.” Smiling big, “We have an hour!”
We came up with the idea of decorating Joe’s trailer. “Okay! Let’s get rolling!”
+
Gwil, Lucy and you all hurried with bags full of twinkle lights and frilly decor to Joe’s trailer. Gwilym being the tall chap that he is, helped with hanging garlands and lights from the walls and draping from the ceiling. Lucy and you fluffed out a tree she had found from somewhere, cluttering it with lights and ornaments.
You were hooking a few ornaments, cute little Yankees ones too. “Lu, these are so cute!” Holding up one to her, she flashed a smile. “I heard wedding bells when I seen them!” Winking at you, “I believe I saw him looking at rings on his phone!” And your cheeks grew rosy as you placed the ornament onto the tree.
Time had passed and you had finished up with ten minutes to spare.
Gwilym was adding extra bows to empty areas and Lucy was adding an extra “dazzle” she quoted, with some candles.
We all stood in the main room at the glistening lights “It’s so cute!!” You cried, wrapping your arms around their middles and pulling them to your sides, gleefully. “Seriously couldn’t have done it without you guys,” leaning your head onto Lucy’s shoulder. “I owe you all lunch before I go!”
Gwilym chuckled, “No need! Just get our boy to cheer up, will ya?” You smiled, toothlessly. Nodding, “Absolutely.”
Lucy’s phone dinged, “Alright, they’re on their way back!” They scurried around quickly, grabbing trash and what nots before hugging you, “He’ll be here right after he gets in to change.” Gwilym announced, “hang tight!”
+
You sat on Joe’s sofa with a smile plastered to your face, in awe about the way the place came out. You were overwhelmed wanting to see his face.
Shortly you heard muffled sounds outside, you immediately went into action. Turning out the light switch and standing in place.
Your heart grew faster at how close you heard Joe’s sweet voice getting to the trailer.
“Hold on, I’ve gotta change back into my costume.” He yelled outside the door, hearing the door knob move.
You stayed carefully still, afraid he’d make out your shadow. “I thought I left the lamp on?” Muttering to him once he entered the room, hearing his feet shuffle across the floor as he reached for the light switch.
“Oh my god!” Joe nearly screeched at the sight and then when he seen you, he gasped “Y/N!” Beaming at the sight of his excitement taking over him.
He almost knocked you over with how fast he hurried to you, engulfing you into the warmest hug that you felt in ages. “Oh my god, you’re here!” Feeling his words in your hair, his hands roaming you like he was making sure you were really here.
“When did you get in?” His mouth was running for miles, How did you do all of this?!” He finished, then. Pulling away to go look around him at all the decorations, overwhelmed by everything.
You stood by, adoring him as he admired everything. “I had a little help, thanks to Lucy and the boys.”
He gasped, “they knew you were coming this whole time?!” Giggling as he watching him talk with his hands, one landing to his chest. “Come here,” waving his hand over towards you.
Wrapping your arms around his waist, he brought his hands to your cheeks. Tilting your head up towards his. “What did I do to deserve you?”
You didn’t know how to answer his question, but you knew he needed to be happy in the same way he made you feel.
Moving your hands to his dark red fluffy locks, simply smiling as you brought his lips to yours before pulling away to look at his eyes, the hazel ones you called home and loved with your all.
“Merry Christmas, Joe.”

Can I request a fluffy Joe Mazzello x fem. reader where reader has given birth to their second daughter and Joe’s mom brings their toddler daughter to the hospital and Joe and reader introduce their daughter to her new baby sister?
This sounds so cute! OF course!
It was painful, of course, it was painful. The first time was painful. God, you forgot the pain.
But once it was over, it was worth it. Worth the hours of labor to see the sweet little face.
"Congrats, miss, the girl's healthy!" the midwife said as she held the little bundle. Already you heard the baby crying with its new lungs as if saying "I'm here! I'm here!"
Breathing in deeply and out, you sighed. So many other women weren't as lucky as you.
Looking over, Joe was in the same headspace as you. His eyes went big at the side. Despite the medical mask over his face, you could tell he was smiling.
You were given the little baby. She smelled sweet and she calmed down right at your touch.
"Ah, mama's girl already!"
He smiled and embraced her. "She's beautiful...."
You were spoiled with gifts and flowers and cards. The nurses even treated you to a steak dinner and plenty of adult diapers to cope with the post-birth flow once you got home.
Only hours later, you heard a familiar voice. "Are you ready to meet your sister?"
To which your older daughter, with the refined thoughts a three-year-old could voice, replied "whee! whee! wheee!" accompanied by light, excited footsteps.
Inside walked Joseph's mother with flowers, holding hands with the little girl. She was happy as could be-all spiffed up in a pink shirt and overalls as her tiny tennis shoes lit up with her exciting steps.
"Hi there!" she chirruped.
Both of you leaped from where you were sitting, Joe put his hands over his mouth.
"Hey Mama!" Joseph greeted. They both hugged each other. "We thought my brother was looking after her and...your-your headache and such!"
"I'm doing fine- the headache's gone! Your siblings called me and asked them to take me...they wanted this girl to meet her sister!" Mrs. Mazzello explained.
Outside the sunshine warmed up your side of the bed. The baby was fed and you were happy to cuddle her. The warmth of the weather and of the new life in your arms was welcome.
"And how are you ladies doing? Both of you?" she asked.
"We're great. Labor wasn't too bad- well, you know, just bad enough as usual. And this one is healthy as a horse," you explained.
"Daddy! Mommy!" your little girl greeted. Joe picked her up and carried her.
"What's up, princess? Are you ready to meet your sister?"
Your daughter nodded. Then Joe walked closer to her. There was a chair next to your bed. Joe sat on it while holding your daughter up.
"Here she is!" you announced proudly.
The little girl leaned forward, smiling as she looked at the baby. She reached her grubby hands forward but Joe held her back a little.
"Be gentle! You gotta be gentle with Sissy!" he instructed.
She grinned.
"She's so cute! I love her!" the little girl said.
The baby curled up, even leaning closer to hear her voice. So young- not even a day old and already learning about the world around her and the family who loved her so much.
"Can you give her a kiss?" you asked.
Your daughter leaned forward and gave her a kiss.
"If she needs to sleep, can I sing your lullaby song!" she asked. Already she was ready to be the big sister and take on all the grown-up activities.
"Of course, you can!" you encouraged with a laugh.
"Daddy, do you think Nonno would like her? she asked.
Both of you froze. Nonno was what she was taught to call Joe's dad. The grandfather she would never know.
Joe blinked, caught off guard. Then he pulled his older girl in for a hug.
"He would adore her, just as much as I'm sure he loves you...and all of us."
As Joseph's mother gathered everyone around for a pic, you would notice later that the hug was tight and the smiles, though a little sad, were genuine.
All of a sudden there was a buzz from Joseph's phone. Reaching down to check it, he saw it was the band.
"Good thing she looks like her mom and not your ugly mug, mate- signed Ben" Joseph read, bursting everyone into much-needed laughter.

‘November Cabin’ Smut Version
Joe Mazzello x Reader
Joe moves behind your back, resting his hands on your waist.
“It’ll be just us. The woods. My parents’ cabin. A cracking fire and a shitload of pillows to roll on.” He smirks, while hi hands make their way to your chest.
You roll your eyes placing your hands over his.
“Right, pumpkin?” He whispers, while gently massaging your breasts with each hand.
“My needy boyfriend.” You let your head fall on his shoulder.
“You’re all I’m going to be needing.” He spins you around and your lips press.
After the two of you are done packing you head to the woods. The weather is rainy and cold. All trees and fallen leaves are soaked. Joe and you are wearing warm jumpers and puffer coats. The radio is playing steamy songs, while the heat is up. Smiling at you his hand falls on your thigh.
“Joe.” You jokingly warn.
“Mhm, doll?” he gives your inner thigh a squeeze.
“You look so hot in a beanie.” You suddenly feel hotter than the usual.
“That could be the only thing left on my body baby. Just say the word.” He lifts his hand off the steering wheel and waves it in the air.
“Watch the road for now.” You chuckle, pushing his chin to face the road.
“But I do anticipate when we get there, and it’s just the two of us.” You whisper close to his ear, while clenching his hand between your thigs.
“Baby.” he silently growls, stepping on the pedal.
“Finally arrived” Joe rubs his hands together, after placing the bags to the side.
“So what do you think?” He turns to welcome you in.
“Incredible.” You hold your breath.
“Pretty nice, huh?” Joe proudly affirms.
After a few more hours the night has fallen. The food is almost ready, filling the whole cabin with savoury smell of baked food and homemade bread. The fireplace is lit with cracking fire, old vinyls with piano music and rotating on the record player. You are both wearing your tracksuit bottoms with cute jumpers on top. You casually lay on the sofa, snuggling in Joe’s arms.
“Mmm baby.” You involuntary moan, feeling his hand gliding underneath your jumper.
“And no bra!” he points out.
“No need for one.” You mutter with your head buried in his arm.
“You like this baby?” his voice mimics the long scratchy strokes on your back.
“Lovin it” you confess.
“Aiming to please dear. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my kitten purr in pleasure.” Joe calmly states, continuing the massage on your back.
“In fact.” He brings you up and situates you in his lap, straddling him.
“I love hearing you.” He smiles and kisses you.
You kiss him back, leaning above him. His starting to grow beard gently scratching your lips and chin, making you hotter with every kiss, sending shiver through your whole body with every touch.
“Baby.” You moan, moving your head to kiss the area underneath his jaw. Slowly pepping kiss along his neck. Without any rushing you get to his collarbone, where you experimentally give him a small bite. He squeaks from the unexpected action which makes you go back to kissing the area.
“How was that? Did you like it, not?” you prompt him to speak.
“Baby.” He takes a deep breath “It made me want you even more.” His hands squeezed your bum in his palms. You chuckled lightly and went back to his lips. Burying your hands in his hair, you pulled on him ever so slightly, only to hear him groan from deep within his throat.
“Gotta have you baby.” He growls, when you start to grind harder against his erection, feeling it through his trousers.
You moan back, but continue to grind, harder with each movement.
“Fuck, baby.” Joe’s strangled plead, only made you go faster on him.
“I’m going to come in my pants like a teenager, if you don’t stop.” He shakes his head.
“Me too.” You darkly smile.
“Joe. Joe.” You whine, feeling your panties soaked against his leg.
“You want to come on my leg? While humping me?” he encourages and you only manage to nod in response.
Joe muffles your whimpering with a kiss, while guiding your dripping self over the wet spot on his leg harder with both hands on your bum.
“Come for daddy.” He looks your straight in your eyes, making you almost black out when your orgasm rushes in. You explode in his arms, whimpering, making a complete mess, your eyes roll at the back of your head, while the only sound you manage to make is a strangled scream, almost silent.
“That’s right. God, I love you.” Joe growls feeling himself coming too.
“Love you too.” You cry out making a last few movements.
Breathing heavily, you relax on top of Joe, while is trying to catch his breath too. “Shit.” You mumble.
“What is it?” Joe’s hand is at your back once again.
“The mess we made.” You chuckle.
“Oh. This?” Joe slides a hand in your sweats, feeling your cum all over your underwear.
You whimper, still feeling sensitive from your orgasm.
“I can get that clean-up sorted.” Joe smirks.

The Rain Doesn’t Always Ruin Everything | Joe Mazzello x F!Reader
Pairing: Joe Mazzello x F!Reader
Warnings: Light swearing
Word Count: 650
This is for @sohoneyspreadyourwings‘ secret santa event, so I hope y’all enjoy
I was supposed to write for @mistymazzello, hope you like it, darling!!! <3 :)
Joe had been planning his proposal to his long-time girlfriend for nearly a year at this point, and he was both giddy with excitement and extremely nervous for today’s date. What if she said no? What would he do then? He was so hopelessly in love with her, he couldn’t imagine what he would do without her. It would break his poor heart.
He made sure to wake up extra early that morning, just to make Y/N breakfast. If he could, he would pamper and spoil her with everything she could ever ask for. That’s how much he loved her. He would go through anything for her, and she would do the same for him.
He had made all of her favorite breakfast foods, no matter how difficult or time-consuming it would have been. Y/N woke up that morning to the apartment filled with the warm, inviting smells of freshly-cooked pancakes and sausage. Though the two scents were dominant and stood tall over the others, she could smell the other foods her boyfriend had prepared for her.
She had walked into the kitchen to see a spread of dishes across the island. Y/N smiled and chuckled a bit, going up to Joe and pressing a quick kiss to his lips. “What’s all this for?” she asked, looking up at him. “I just felt like making you breakfast this morning,” Joe replied, pulling Y/N into a tight hug. “Don’t lie to me, Joey, you never make breakfast. What did you forget this time?” She teased, crossing her arms. “I didn’t forget anything! I just wanted to take the burden of breakfast off your shoulders for once.” Y/N laughed in response and shrugged, deciding to, instead of arguing, enjoy the breakfast her boyfriend had made her.
Joe had already packed up a huge spread for their dinner in the park. Y/N refused the date, but Joe, being the stubborn one that he is, insisted she go on a picnic with him that night for dinner. “The weather is gonna be perfect, babe! There isn’t going to be any other opportunity to do this!” he explained, hoping and praying it wouldn’t rain like it was predicted to.
His prayers fell on deaf ears, however, and after only ten minutes into the date, the couple hid under a bus stop near the edge of the park, laughing and giggling at Joe’s inability to see the prominent rain clouds in the sky when they got in the car. “You’re such a dumbass!” Y/N giggled, shoving her boyfriend’s arm playfully. “Hey! I’m your dumbass! You chose me!” Joe smiled, his eyes twinkling softly as he looked at her.
“Hey, Y/N/N, I need to ask you something,” he said softly, his tone becoming a bit more serious. “What is it Joe? You know you can ask me anything,” Y/N replied, her smile fading softly.
Joe inhaled softly, grabbing Y/N’s hand and grabbing a small, navy blue velvet box from the picnic basket. The man got down on one knee in typical proposal fashion and opened the small box, revealing a gorgeous diamond ring. Y/N’s eyes were nearly the size of her head and she began tearing up, covering her mouth with her free hand as she smiled wide.
Y/N was silent as Joe asked that fateful question. Her vision was blurred with tears as she looked down at him, time seemingly slowing down. The words came out of his mouth and it felt like a dream come true. “Will you marry me?”
She nodded softly, speechlessly hugging Joe tightly as if she was going to squeeze the breath out of him. Joe teared up as he saw her nod, smiling wide. His heart swelled with joy as he wrapped his arms around her in return. He’d give anything to be in this moment forever.

Joe Mazzello: the fluffy chronicles.
Passed out.
Joe looked up from his phone and smiled when he saw you. You definitely caught his attention while you were walking down the street. You looked at him, but didn’t smile back. You were feeling sick and dizzy, you leaned on the wall to support yourself. You were breathing heavily and closed your eyes, hoping it would just go away. But it didn’t. Joe looked at you a bit surprised, not knowing what’s happening, but he wasn’t the one to bother strangers and he just assumed you were sad, maybe after a heartbreak. But as he approached you, you only felt worse and worse and finally you slipped down the wall and fell on the ground. Joe immediately run up to you.
“Excuse me? Miss? Are you alright?” He kneeled next to you and gently squeezed your hand to see if you respond. When you didn’t, he leaned over you and put his ear close to your mouth in hopes to hear your breath while also observing your chest. It was moving up and down steadily and he could hear your breath, so he sighed relieved. He lied you on your back and put your legs on your bag and his backpack to aid blood flow to the brain. He loosen the belt you had on your dress and took his phone to immediately call 911.
He stayed with you until the help arrived. They took you to the ambulance and asked whether Joe knew you. He admitted he didn’t, but he felt weirdly responsible for you, so he asked whether he could go with you. They agreed.
After they run all the exams and made sure you’re going to be alright, they put you in a room until you regain consciousness. After some time, you finally did. You slowly opened your eyes, trying to adjust to the bright lights in the room. Joe smiled at you.
“Hey. How are you feeling?” He asked and you looked at him trying to remember when you saw him before. He was like a fainted memory. You tried to speak, but your throat was too dry.
“Water?” you grunted quietly. He nodded and walked out of the room to try and find some water. When he did, he came back and helped you sit up and take a few sips.
“Is it better?” you nodded your head and covered yourself with the quilt.
“Why am I here?” you asked and Joe explained you how you passed out and needed to be rushed to the hospital. “And why are you here?” He didn’t have a good answer to that, other than he just needed to make sure this absolute stranger is feeling better.
“Empathy, I guess,” he smiled a bit embarrassed. “I just needed to make sure you’re going to be alright. I found you, so…” he shrugged. You gave him a little smile.
“Thank you for that. And for everything,” you put your hand on his and squeezed it gently. “If there is anything I can do for you, tell me. I’d like to repay you somehow for taking care of me.”
“Nonsense. I did what anyone would do, you don’t need to thank me for anything. And you most definitely don’t have repay me,” he replayed and pet your hand with his thumb. “I’m just glad to see you’re okay.”
“I insist. Can I at least… Invite you for a cup of coffee?” you took your hand away and smiled at the beautiful stranger.
“I don’t think coffee would be good in your current situation…”
“Then dinner. Let me invite you to a dinner. Please,” you didn’t give up. “Tonight.”
“Well, I guess I need to make sure nothing bad will happen to you. My car is parked not far from here, I can take you home,” he suggested and you nodded your head. You weren’t from this part of the town, it would be a long walk home.
“Yes, and after that, I will invite you to a great Italian restaurant near my home. We’re settled,” you smiled proudly. He chuckled and nodded.
“Alright then. We can do that,” he finally agreed. “I’m Joe, by the way,” he smiled and reached out his hand.
“Y/N,” you introduced yourself and shook his hand. “So Joey, huh? That’s the name of my prince in shining armor?” He chuckled hearing that. “Joseph the Great,” you joked smiling at him.
“I’m hardly that. I’m just glad I could help.”
Soon after that a doctor joined you. When they made sure you’re going to be okay, they monitored your heartbeat and talked with you about potential causes of the fainting and how to avoid them, they let you go. You held Joe’s arm as you were walking to his car. Less of a necessity, more of a personal pleasure, but you didn’t let it be known. He opened the door for you and you thanked him as you got in.
“Can I change the station?” you asked during the trip.
“Sure,” he nodded his head and you immediately tried to find the radio station that played classic rock 24/7. When you did, the beginning of “Somebody to love” could be heard from the speakers.
“I love this song,” you smiled sitting more comfortably in your chair.
“Me too. It’s my favorite Queen song, if not my favorite song in general,” he smiled and you looked at him surprised.
“Really?” he nodded. “It’s my favorite too!” And it was just the beginning of things you had it common. You talked about movies, TV series, books, and you found out you had very similar taste. While in the restaurant, you both ordered the same meal without consulting each other beforehand.
“Of course I like that movie. Come on, it’s about dinosaurs, who doesn’t like them?” you smiled. “Like Jurassic Park. It’s a classic!”
“You like it?” he smiled and in that moment you confirmed what he already suspected to be true – you had no idea who he was.
“Oh, yeah, totally. I watched it for the first time when as a kid and totally loved it. All other action movies usually only had adults in it, this one was better, cause it had kids I could relate to,” you smiled and drank your water while he tried to hide his smirk.
“And what do you think about the ginger kid? I think he was quite lame…” he started, but you didn’t let him finish.
“Take that back!” you chuckled. “I won’t allow you to say a bad word about him. He’s my biggest childhood crush,” Joe couldn’t help but let out a quiet chuckle. The situation was just too funny for him. “What?”
“Nothing, nothing,” he moved his napkin on his lips pretending to wipe them, while in reality he was hiding his big smile.
“No, it’s not nothing. Tell me what’s so funny. Are you laughing at me?” He shook his head.
“No, no. I’m just happy you liked my performance, that’s all,” it took you a second to realize what he meant.
“No, come on. It’s not possible,” you muttered in disbelief.
“Joe Mazzello, nice to meet you,” he even took out his ID to prove you he’s not joking. You looked at it and immediately turned red.
“Oh, my God, I’m so sorry! I feel so stupid right now for not recognizing you. That’s why you looked so familiar… Oh, God. Once again, so so sorry. I must still be dizzy from earlier,” you tried to justify yourself.
“Don’t worry about it. It was actually nice not to be treated differently because of my work for once. Quite refreshing,” he reassured you.
“Well… One thing I have to admit, you know how to make a great impression on a girl even without your star status.”
“I’ll drink to that,” chuckled and lifted his glass with lemonade and you clinked your glasses then both of you drank your non-alcohol drinks. “So, you had a crush on me, huh?” he chuckled quietly.
“I feel so embarrassed right now!” you turned even more red.
“Come on, it was cute!” he chuckled quietly.
“No, it’s embarrassing and you know it. Go on, tell me who your crush was…”
The conversation didn’t stop there, neither did your relation. It soon turned into a boyfriend/girlfriend situation and let me tell you, Joe loved telling everyone the story of how he “saved your life” on your first meeting. You found it annoying at first, but with time you learned to love it. After all, that situation brought you two together.

Sincerely Yours

Chapter 1 - Something Lost
Story Description: One day, Gardner comes across the town’s librarian, Audrey Ezra, prompting him to begin a daily visit to the library. Rekindling his childhood love of books, Gardner became intrigued with the mysterious British bookworm he’d observe every morning.
•
Word Count: 3.2K
A/N: So excited to begin this series, I have so many plans for this story ! (p.s. please may the Dear Sidewalk fandom grow just a tad more). Kind of boring introductory stuff in this one, but more fluff ahead !
•
Gardner looked down at his watch. 8:15am on the dot.
In about seven seconds, Mrs. Avery would reach her hand from her kitchen window to pluck an orange from the tree that sat nearby.
In about twenty-eight seconds, young Jonathan having had slept in yet again would rush out his house in a dishevelled state sprinting towards his bus stop.
In about forty seconds, Allison, the waitress from the diner off the corner of Clifford Lane would sneakily emerge from the front door of the Bennett’s home. This one in particular was a new routine. Mrs Bennett had been out of town the past couple weeks and a certain Mr. Bennett was rather pleased with this.
It was in between the seconds of Mrs. Avery plucking an orange from her tree and Jonathan sprinting out of his home to rush to school, that Gardner reluctantly acknowledged how mundane of a routine he had fallen into. Sure, it had been long since he worked as a mail carrier. And with that, came the assumption that he wouldn’t always have the same routine — walking the same route, interacting with the same people — every single day.
But at the very least, he was looking up at his surroundings a lot more than he used to. Mainly because of her... her voice and her words kept resurfacing in his head, “No, don’t look down”. He wondered whether he had slowly begun adopting this habit purely out of the interest of switching up his morning walks, or it was something he did just to shake her voice out of his head.
Morning walks were rituals he would never give up, whether or not it was part of a job. It was the highlight of his day — Not needing to think and letting the patterns of the sidewalk guide his walk and guide his mind to blissful numbness. It was a short debate in his mind whether he should change the routine for the day, whether it be turning a different street, deciding to take the bus somewhere instead, or even going back home to play video games with Calvin. Anything could happen with the slightest change.
As Gardner turned the corner, his feet stopped just before a crack in the sidewalk. Had he completely broken the habit of looking down as he walked, he wouldn’t of noticed the small emerald ring stuck between the gaps of dried cement.
Furrowing his brows, Gardner reached down to pick it up. Attached to it was a chain that dangled beside his hand. He observed it closely, admiring the way the sun shone through the tiny crystal in a green tinted beam. It was no doubt a valuable possession.
Gardner was looking around for any sign as to where it might’ve come from. At first he looked at a few passerby’s that could’ve possibly dropped it, before his eyes fell back the sidewalk. His eyes drifted slightly to the left to spot a tiny maroon leather bound notebook buried under a few strands of overgrown lawn.
Clutching carefully onto the ring with one hand, he used the other to pick the notebook up, careful not to get any more dirt on it. It fit perfectly his palm and upon observing it closely he realised that the leather had been hand-stitched and beautifully so. Embossed across the front of it was the name A. E. Ezra.
Gardner let his fingers graze across the surface of the book, feeling the embossed letters as the name escaped his lips in a low whisper. “A. E. Ezra”
He bit his lip as he rummaged his mind for that name. He had seen it before, perhaps through letter correspondence. “Ezra... Ezra... Ezra...” No faces came with the name as he chanted it to himself.
Gardner narrowed his eyes in concentration as he began flicking through the notebook, looking for more hints. Though it didn’t take long for him to realise that the contents of the notebook were indeed personal. Instinctively he put his eyes out of focus as he blurred away what he assumed to be small diary entries. Instead he drew focus to the dates and locations written on the top of each entry.
This proved to be useful, as no matter how many different dates there were for each entry, the location was always the same — Faith Library.

There weren’t many passerby’s at the library, and if there were, their visits were few — The occasional diligent student researching for an assignment in the afternoons, or the frequent procrastinating student looking for somewhere to print their assignment in the mornings before school commences. Father Deacon would often drop by in the earlier hours of the day to ‘brush up on the scriptures’, though Audrey knew it was a mere guise to occasionally keep her company. It was incredibly sweet of the man, and although she appreciated the gesture, she found herself feeling quite bleak after his pep talks. Trudy was one semi-casual, particularly loquacious passerby whose visits tended to intrigue, yet also concern Audrey as she’d observe the kinds of DIY books Trudy would check out.
Some other people would come in for a quiet read, but barely interact with her. A polite nod or smile as she’d help direct them to certain sections or help check out books for them, at most. But that was the way she liked it. Any more interaction than that would ripped her away from how consumed she was by the story she was reading for the day.
In fact, on one too many occasions, someone would have to tap her on the shoulder after a while of trying to get her attention because of how much a book could take hold of her focus. It was a common misconception that her passionate love of books would’ve made her great at her job, but truth be told it was the very thing that distracted her from getting much work done at all. Though that didn’t matter. Days could go by and no one notice whether work was to be done or not.
Audrey looked up from her book with a quizzical brow as she heard the door swing open with a loud bang. After sighing with relief from the brief scare, she chuckled to herself upon seeing it was merely a strong gust of wind. Only a second had passed where she entertained the idea of someone else dropping by.
Though before she could bury her nose back in her book, her eyes darted to her right to meet a pair of hazel ones.
Taken aback by the sudden contact, she raised her chin to see who had seemingly been observing her for a while.
Gardner had almost slipped off the pillar he was leaning on as the girl he had been watching turned to face him.
When Gardner entered the library, he had walked right towards the main desk where she was seated. His search was a success as the name tag on her collar spelt Audrey Ezra. Gardner had cleared his throat four times to get her attention with no luck. Afterwhich, it must’ve been an entire minute where he simply stared at her, watching as her eyes trailed across the words in her novel.
He didn’t mind waiting, though he didn’t expect to be so entranced watching someone do something as simple as reading a book. The way her fingers danced across the corners of each bit of paper in antipation of turning the page. How her chin rested in her palm as her fingers delicately grazed her slightly parted lips. How a faint hum would escape her every now and then as if in response to whatever she was reading.
Presumably, now that she was facing him, the trance would’ve ceased. Though now that he saw her eyes, her look became complete picture. Doe-brown eyes were charmingly framed with a wavy curtain of brown hair, styled accordingly to the dress she wore which was rather old fashioned with its A-line cut. Though given the 1940s design of the library, he looked more out of place than she did. While admiration was undoubtedly shining through Gardner’s eyes, his fixation was on the confusion of never having seen her before, especially given how distinctive she looked.
“Oh!” Audrey exclaimed as she scrambled her book shut, chiding herself. “Sorry, I hope you haven’t been standing there long.” Audrey shook herself into concentration, adjusting her posture as she greeted him warmly. “What can I do for you?”
And there the trance had broken, though replaced itself with a new one as he heard the soft voice that emerged from her. Gardner’s mouth opened and closed repeatedly, unable to find what to say. “You’re... British.” And having heard what he did just say, he bit his lip believing it best he never tried saying anything at all.
Audrey’s customer service persona faltered slightly as she observed him properly. She fidgeted with the hem of her sleeve as his eyes bore into hers. After a pause, and mustering the courage to make a remark upon seeing how sheepish he was, she countered, “Well spotted.”
It was a relief to hear her respond somewhat humorously. He allowed himself a slight smile, before clearing his throat and straightening his posture. “I was looking for you, Miss Ezra.”
Audrey, taken aback by his sudden man-of-action demanour, leaned back in her seat slightly. “Why?”
Gardner frowned, rather oblivious to how his tone would’ve caused her worry. “I just...” Gingerly reaching into his pocket, his face dropped. The ring was still there, but as his fingers grasped it, he felt a roughness to the once smooth cut crystal. His fingers stretched out to feel the piece that had chipped off and he closed his eyes in dread. He didn’t know at what point he had damaged it or how, but cursed in his head, realising that his pocket wasn’t particularly a wise place to put it in the first place.
Gardner looked up at her, eyes slightly widened. “I’m sorry. I didn’t realise...”
Audrey greeted his words with a perplexed frown, she stood up from her seat, instinctively seeking to help the man who seemed in distress.
“Sir, are you alright?”
Gardner shook his head and sighed. He pulled the ring from his pocket, holding it out to her by the chain, dreading her reaction. Audrey’s eyes gleamed at the sight of it, watching it dangle before her. A mix between a shaky sigh and a delighted chuckle escaped her as she reached her hands towards it. “Oh my— w-where did you find...” Her words trailed off as her fingers caught it from dangling in the air any further. Almost immediately, the unfamiliar rough texture of the ring’s center caught her attention.
Gardner bit his lip awaiting the reaction to wash over her. “I-I should’ve been more careful, it was fine when I found it—”
“Where did you find it?” Audrey looked up at him. Gardner took a moment to process her expression. No glint of sadness or anger, but simply curiosity and even delight.
Gardner pressed his lips together. “It was on the sidewalk. Right by Crawford street.”
“I thought I lost it for good...” She whispered almost to herself.
The corners of Audrey’s lips twitched up as her fingers faintly traced the emerald surface. Her lips pressed together as tears began to prick her eyes. She bowed her head down, hoping for her fringe to silhouette her eyes from the man’s view. She tried to steady her voice. “You...” Her voice faltered as her fingers lingered on the ring.
Gardner hadn’t allowed relief to wash over him just yet. And he believed he was right to do so as he heard a faint drop on the desk in between them. He looked down at the desk to see that a spot of paper had been faintly wet and raising his eyebrows, he looked to see drops of tears escaping her face. He couldn’t get a good look at her, as her head faced down, but he didn’t try to. His first instinct was to stiffen up and back slightly away from her.
Gardner couldn’t recall the last time he dealt with a woman crying in front of him, let alone a woman who cried because of his doing.
“Miss Ezra, I’m so sorry, I— uh...” Gardner rummaged through his other pocket, pulling out his wallet. “I-I’m sure it’s much more valuable than...” He pulled out all the cash he on him, briskly muttering as he counted. “...35 dollars... but, uh, please...” He placed the cash on the desk in front of her.
Audrey looked at the cash sitting on the desk then up at him. Bewildered that the man who had retrieved her most prized possession was apologising for it, she opened her mouth to speak.
Though as the sight of her tear-stained cheeks and glistening eyes came into clear view, Gardner’s jaw clenched in discomfort.
While Audrey’s tears came from relief and bliss, she realised the man had interpreted it differently. “Oh, no... sir, it’s—”
“No, I...” Gardner didn’t know where that sentence would carry him. He thought only to apologise, but wasn’t certain how to remedy what he’d done.
“Sir, please.” Audrey took the liberty of carrying the conversation, and Gardner thinking it best for her to speak instead, closed his mouth.
Gardner couldn’t help but furrow his brows being addressed as ‘sir’. Though it was a common polite term, there was something rare and old fashioned about the way spoke and carried herself, particularly the way she held her shoulders back while wearing a warm smile.
Audrey picked up the cash and reached for his hand. She rested the money in his palm and gently curled his fingers so that he was holding onto it. Gardner’s insincts told him to let go of the money, insist she take it and even promise further payment to help with the damage, but his body stiffened, as her hands were holding his closed fist.
As Audrey met eyes with him once more, it struck her. How easily she reached towards his hand, how she has no hesitation shedding slight tears in front of a stranger. It was the wave of joy of seeing her father’s ring again that seemed to repel any nerves for her. But its effect was slowly withering now.
She decided to speak while her gratitude was still helping to dilute her usual shyness. “Thank you.” She smiled. “Really... There really isn’t much damage. None at all, taking into account that I thought I’d never see it again.” Audrey chuckled slightly.
Gardner hadn’t quite processed her words, but his worries about the damage were surely fading. His mind was fixed on the feeling of her fingers clasping lightly around his. His palms began to perspire against the cash he was holding onto. Audrey followed as his eyes slightly flickered to their joined hands. She hadn’t noticed until now.
Audrey let him go quickly under the guise of needing to pull back strands of her hair from her face.
Gardner hadn’t noticed just how much he was leaning into her touch until he felt how heavily his arm dropped beside him as she let go.
There was a pause between them, and Gardner took a moment to listen how the library muffled every sound from outside. He could hear every page turn from the few people that were in here, and each movement they made created a faint echo. No doubt people would’ve overheard every word of their conversation, but it was a place where everyone could be so consumed in their own world that he didn’t seem self-conscious about it.
“Is there anything I can do for you, sir?” His attention returned to the friendly librarian.
Gardner frowned as his eyes trailed down her cheeks. Though she shed tears only briefly her cheeks were still stained and slightly wet. He pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket, holding it out in front of her.
Audrey’s eyebrows raised as she looked at it. “You... carry a handkerchief?” There was some delight Audrey found in the prospect of men carrying around handkerchiefs these days.
“Not usually, no. My friend Trudy stitched it for me the other day.”
“Trudy...?” The corners of Audrey’s lips began to etch upwards as she looked him up and down. Hazel brown eyes, ginger hair, polo shirt, a somewhat stiff demeanour and a fixed frown expression worn for all occasion. Just as Trudy described her strange neurotic friend. “Gardner.” Audrey said slowly.
Gardner’s frown softened upon hear his name coated in her voice. “How did you...?”
Gardner trailed off. Ezra. That name. He heard it in Trudy’s voice this time. Faint recounts played back in his head. How Trudy would describe how Faith Library felt like going escaping back in time. How Ezra, ‘the beautiful basketcase’ was as much part of the library as the bookshelves drilled against the walls.
“Small town.” Audrey replied, taking the handkerchief and nodding at him as thanks.
Audrey dabbed lightly at her cheeks before handing it back to him.
Gardner shook his head. “Keep it for now.” He nodded towards the piles of books stacked on the cart beside Audrey’s desk. “You should probably be getting back to work now, shouldn’t you?”
Audrey looked over and sighed. “Seems so...” she suppose she couldn’t of dragged out her break much longer.
“Well, then I’ll leave you to it.” Gardner said bluntly before turning his heel and beginning to walk off.
Audrey bit her lip, taken aback by his brisk departure. “Uh— sir.”
Gardner turned back around. “Um, Gardner, I’d prefer. Now that you know my name.”
“Right, of course.” She chuckled sheepishly. “Um... just wanted to say thanks... again.”
“You’re welcome.” A sharp nod of his head and he turned his heel again, heading towards the door.
Audrey wanted to call after him again. She wasn’t sure what exactly she would say. But if she didn’t know any better, she’d guess that she wanted to talk to him for longer. A rare sensation she had with people at the library. Oftentimes, gestures and conversations beyond polite requests and ‘thank you’s would have her yearning for solitude again.
Audrey watched as Gardner stepped outside, his hair brightening as the sunlight swallowed him from the dimness of the library. She watched him leave, feeling a slight frown dawn upon her face. Her mind replayed the last couple minutes for her as she proceeded to push her cart, ready to continue with today’s duties.
Gardner stopped by the sidewalk, turning round to get one last look at the building. He hadn’t gone inside for years, and he thought of all the times he almost did in between the last time he did until now, chiding himself for not doing so.
Gardner didn’t share Audrey’s disappointment of having left and possibly not seeing again.
As he continued walking, his hand reached back in his pocket, letting his fingers trace around the leather bound notebook, he had oh-so-foolishly forgotten to give to her. The corners of his lips twitched upwards slightly. Might be too late to go back now, she’s busy working.
Looks like he had to return tomorrow morning to give it to her.
