Alia Vox publica un álbum que reúne antiguas grabaciones de Jordi Savall con obras contemporáneas escritas a partir de ellas
Cuenta Diego Fernández Magdaleno (Medina de Rioseco, 1971) la fascinación adolescente por Jordi Savall y sus discos. De aquello, alimentado por la memoria del pianista ya adulto y consagrado (Premio Nacional de Música en 2010), nació este proyecto que ahora, más de una década después de su realización, se publica en formato CD.
La idea era simple: encargar a una serie de compositores españoles obras inspiradas en piezas del anchísimo repertorio de los discos del violagambista español. El proyecto se estrenó en París el 21 de febrero de 2012. Montserrat Figueras había muerto tres meses antes, así que su presencia se aprecia de forma considerable en las obras escogidas y glosadas. Fernández Magdaleno acabó grabando las piezas en el verano de 2015, pero esos registros parecieron congelados durante casi una década hasta plasmarse finalmente en este doble álbum que publica el sello de Savall.

Fueron en total catorce cortes originales (Dowland, Cabezón por dos veces, Vermell por tres, Milán, Couperin por dos, Sainte Colombe, Alfonso X, Van Ghizeghem, Sibila, Marais), que se reproducen aquí seguidos de las obras contemporáneas, encargadas por el pianista vallisoletano a catorce músicos bien diferentes: José María García Laborda (1946), Teresa Catalán (1951), Jesús Legido (1943), Carlos Cruz de Castro (1941), Francisco García Álvarez (1959), Armand Grèbol (1958), Claudio Prieto (1934-2015), Benet Casablancas (1956), Carles Guinovart (1941), Tomás Marco (1942), Albert Sardà (1943), Dolores Serrano (1967), Carme Fernández-Vidal (1970) y Josep Soler (1935).
El resultado es poliédrico, ya que los estilos de las obras nuevas son muy diversos: algunos optaron por hacer variaciones en que la pieza de origen es perfectamente identificable, otros buscaron una mayor abstracción; hubo quien pareció acercarse a las formas de la música original y quien prefirió honrarla alejándose de ella. Un homenaje en cualquier caso de admiración y memoria.
