STAR WARS: BLOODLINE By Claudia Gray
here’s your spoiler alert!
10/10, i loved this book!
it just made me love Leia even more too! The politics, the reveal of Darth Vader, everyone’s reaction to it and how Leia confronts Casterfo over it?
~Perfection~

If they did anything involving stuff from Bloodline, I think I might short-circuit. It was my 1st SW book back in 2016 & has been my go-to book to reread ever since. And I agree, there is a sad lack of content for a lot of characters from this book. I absolutely adore older Leia (as Senator & General of the Resistance, both) & the fact that Senator Casterfo actually survived Bloodline as we learned in my 2nd-favorite SW book, Resistance Reborn, just makes me wish we'd see him in a comic or SOMETHING.
If anyone from Disney is watching, I’d really like Bloodline or Leia, Princess of Alderaan made into an animated series, preferably with the Galaxy of Adventures art style.
My ideas for the voice actors of characters of Bloodline would be:
-Rinnrivin played by Werner Herzog (he’s just creepy enough to be admirable and he’s got that Tarkin on crack vibe)
-Ransolm Casterfo by Peter Serafinowicz (You probably know him as Lord Covington from Parks and Rec. Smart, young, and definitely the sort of dude to geek out over Empire stuff)
-Greer Sonnel by Lauryn McClain (she’d just be mwah *chefs kiss*)
-Lady Carise by Tress MacNeille (Need I say more about the voice legend Tress?)
-Joph Seastriker by Jake Johnson (as close to Poe Dameron as I could get without it flat out being Oscar Isaac).
As for Leia and Han, that’s tricky. I really think Claudia did a good job of voicing her in the audiobook, but perhaps that role might be better suited for Billie Lourd, if she’d want to. Han’s a toss up.

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): General Bracket Match 44
Lanitra | Identity: wlw | Media: Sana Starros comics
Lanitra was a mercenary in the employ of Deva Lompop and member of the small time syndicate the Genetian Collective. When Sana Starros and her family visited Deva for help retrieving Avon’s journals, Lanitra flirted with Sana. Sana was prepared to head off with Lanitra to take her mind off all the family drama, when Deva informed Sana that the Starroses would be helping her and Lanitra’s crew steal a rancor from a zoo on Hon-Tallos. Lanitra’s part of the plan was to free various animals in the zoo as a distraction. She described the zoo as more like a prison (although it was run by someone involved in animal smuggling) and said “Death to all tyrants” after “liberating” the zoo, although it's unclear if that was a bit. She liberated the zoo with no care for the threat the predators posed to visitors. Later, Lanitra helped Sana and Deva save her family from Phel. Afterwards, she and Sana had a one night stand.
Ledaney | Identity: mlm | Media: Bloodline
Ledaney was a New Republic pilot and a member of an X-wing show squadron. During one scene, while the squadron is doing maintenance on their ships, Ledaney roasts Joph Seastriker for not being able to hold his drink on an earlier occasion, kind of mean spiritedly. Joph shot back ““I’m good, Ledaney. But what about you? Word has it you’ve been hitting the Corellian stuff pretty hard lately” in reference to Ledaney’s new Corellian boyfriend. The rest of the squadron responded to that with even more laughter. Ledaney was with the rest of his squadron in envying Joph for being able to go on real missions, which were more exciting than air shows. Therefore, he likely joined the Resistance with the rest of his squadron when the organization was first founded, despite being kind of an ass.

So as it turns out I actually don't hate Casterfo
He just believes some dumb stuff. He's not actually that bad
Meanwhile, Joph Seastriker continues to be a precious cinnamon roll, I love him your honor

really don’t know WHY there isn’t more Joph/Greer fic on ao3, like they’re both such great characters literally begging to be written more often and yet there’s still only 5 works in their tag
#I would totally be down with good fic for them that’s not necessarily romantic too#just Them being Them#I miss them a lot#joph seastriker#greer sonnel#star wars bloodline#Mobile

I wonder...
I wonder if Tam Ryvora isn’t a pilot because of her height.
In Claudia Gray’s novel “Bloodlines” a pilot by the name of Joph Seastriker claims that he is “1.5 millimeters above minimum regulation height” for star pilots... meaning there is indeed some kind of a height requirement for pilots in the New Republic Army.
There is a minimum height requirement for the US Airforce of around 5ft tall standing and 2 feet sitting (I guess so you can see over the controls and dashboard?)
Tam looks very short to me... and in Bloodlines, Joph even mentions that he hates being mistaken for a mechanic because of his height. I feel like this might be a hint as to why Tam isn’t already a pilot herself and is instead working so hard to fix the fireball as a mechanic. Maybe Yeager doesn’t care about the height restrictions so long as she can fly.
I don’t know, but it’s a thought?

I’m really curious... who is your favorite character from the Star Wars Extended Universe?
From either Legends or New Canon
Personally, I love Greer Sonnel from Bloodline, and I’d love to see her have a film cameo in EPIX.
Send me your faves 🖤

Captain Marvel's Dante, Glory and A'Di are basically my headcanon for Bloodline's Joph Seastriker, Korr Sella and Greer Sonnel (AU where Joph and Greer are the same age as Korrie)

joph in the new republic hangar one day, on a whim: hey we all like princess leia, right? do any of you wish you had more exciting jobs than being new republic pilots?
leia a few weeks later: okay so the government is crumbling and we are all that's left
joph seastriker just being a nice enough guy to start the Resistance through sheer charisma is my favorite thing

Bloodline by Claudia Gray When Carrie Fisher passed away at the tail end of 2016, there was a great loss in Hollywood and mental illness awareness.

Hey Y’all.
How much do you want to bet that Joph Seastriker is in TLJ?

Klimo was the only character in Join the Resistance I actually liked. Side character, clearly written solely as comic relief, cute little Rodian boy who did nothing but shout enthusiastically about everything and insist every character was his friend. But he seemed the most genuine and far less insufferable than most of the others.
I didn't like this book. The writing was honestly bad, and the plot was boring. Nothing much happened. But it's a children's book. Not to excuse those things, but to say that I didn't expect deaths. I DID NOT EXPECT KLIMO TO BE TORN APART BY RANCORS IN THE PENULTIMATE CHAPTER. I am betrayed.
Anyway, I don't have the strength to write anything more detailed about it. Just give this one a pass, guys, unless you're an obsessive completist like me. You won't be missing anything.
#literally my favorite oart was the briefest namedrop of Joph Seastriker from Bloodline and finding out he's still around and made Commander#so that's probably saying something too#rant#caps#katie reads star wars#canon: join the resistance#i liked Sari too but she didn't really get what she seserved from this book
