My (longer than expected) thoughts on episode 10
(which i loved btw)
SPOILERS AHEAD
1. We got to see a bit of how Seo Minyoung is. Also she is starting to fend for herself a bit. Like it or not, it is your right but that is what we have for now.
2. The Kiss. Well it's true the chemistry is not quite there romance wise. I mean it's cute imo but it is not intense which is what we were all hoping it to be i guess, especially if they are going to push it to be there. SJK is all in but SHB is somewhere else and i think she was not quite well directed on this. It was nice that she took the initiative tho.
3. The financial plot. Great. Loved it. Bringing in 9/11. Wow. I did wonder if they would mention it but the way they did it, hats off. There is a world before 9/11 and a world after 9/11. That day changed a whole set of things not only in international relations but also international business. Something else that sunk in: Hyun Woo knew about it, so you think he might have prevented it. No. Do you really think him calling the F*I just mentioning this would not get him in trouble? He realised with his mother that he can't really change anything but he can chose how to live.
4. LEE SUNG MIN. All hail the King of this show. What a master of his craft. His chemistry with SJK is fantastic. The conversation they had about greed and distrust. Will we see Hyun Woo losing sight of his "mission"?
5. Jo Han Chul. Go off my man. Dong Ki having that breakdown clearly shows Yang Cheol's relationship with his kids. It is sad.
6. Song Joong Ki's acting. This man's eyes tell so much. How he goes from a cheeky innocent smile to serious cold business mode in a split second. Just wow. JDJ is a lovable cheeky bastard and SJK knows how to portray that so well.

A list of things I will never be over in no particular order: movie edition
part: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
1.) That one scene in The Pirates where they have to pee and they do it in the ocean together-- its definitely a 'you have to watch it to understand it kind of thing'. It is my favorite movie. It is ridiculous and hilarious and I love everything about it. Please watch it.
2.) The movie that made me ball my eyes out: Night Flight. But the scene where he beats everyone's ass-- like hardcore just slaughters everyone-- like umph the vidication was so good.
3.) A Werewolf Boy. Another movie that made me cry but it was angry tears this time. Did not like the end of it but Song Joong-ki is top tier in it.
4.) Tazza 2. This was around the time I was obsessed with TOP from BigBang-- so of course I watched it. I can't say the acting is fantastic but if you are a fan of TOP being aloof then this is the movie for you.
5.) Every scene in Spellbound. Its one of my top three movies I love to rewatch. It's so spooky and cute. Lee Min Ki and Son Ye-jin are an adorable pair and I loved their chemistry.
6.) Always-- who doesn't love to watch suffering and longing? Especially when delievered by a constantly shirtless and buff So Ji Sub. I really really thought it was going to be a bad ending.
8.) Monster. I'm usually too much of a wimp to watch scary movies BUT Lee Min Ki. This was a terrifying show and Lee Min Ki was fantastic in it. Plus he's a really pretty bad guy. I'ts very hard not to root for him.
9.) Who hasn't seen The Man From Nowhere? I love found family and a complete retired badass putting back on his badass shoes and going after anyone and everyone who even looked at his sunshine adopted daugther sideways. Chef's kiss.
10.) Mission: Possible. I'm a sucker for good fight scenes and cute fighty couples. Tis my favroite thing. If that is your thing too then definitely watch!

Vincenzo
So I ended up watching Vincenzo as Tumblr pressured me. I must say I am glad I did. It was full of action and is different from what I am used to watching in kdramas, and that was quite welcome. I don’t like the shows in general, where nothing happens and everyone is always happy, alive, saved by the bell, etc.
First of all, Song Joong Ki did an exceptional job here! I was drawn in since the first moment. I have only seen him in Descendants of the Sun, but even so I knew he was a good actor and follow him. I believe this is the role of his life.
Taecyeon on the other hand I watched in Let’s Fight Ghost and I must say here he stole the show! I was gaping the entire time he was on screen. The range of his acting and emotions was wonderful.
The humor parts were a bit strange for me. That is what almost made me stop watching it but after her father dies things start to get so good that I had to know what would happen next. There was a point when I could not stop.
I don’t know if the writers had external advice or help, but the script was like that of any show from UK or USA. Except for the funny parts which I guess were included to please the Korean audience. My point with this, is that it was fantastic. I was surprised that a korean show (not movie, in movies they can be pretty gruesome and they don’t care) could be so rough and bloody and intense.
Vincenzo and Hong Cha Young had such amazing chemistry! I did not know Jun Yeo Bin from before but I really enjoyed her as a main character. I liked how the writers showed the two characters fighting the bad guys and her accepting him for who he was. Then we even started to have a Cha Young in the gray moral area, fighting and killing bad guys.
She was also funny and not ladylike, not perfectly composed or cool like the usual female characters. She was funny and acted silly, and he fell in love with her like that. I loved that!
The placement of propaganda was there, but very subtle. I liked that. The inhabitants of Geumga Plaza were funny and every now and then they would surprise us with a bit of the story of some of them. I liked that very much too. The owner of the dry cleaning terrified me with his scissor. I would close my eyes during those scenes because it looked painful on the receiving end hahahahaha.
I must say this is what a James Bond movie would be for me. The show got more and more savage, to the point where I was surprised that a korean audience would accept it. It is hands down the best drama of this year. I was literally gaping the episode where his mom gets killed and he goes full savage, let alone at the end when Cha Young gets shot and Han Seo sadly dies.
The last episode was so intense that I ended up exhausted. But I enjoyed it very much. I was actually surprised that there was the possibility of them ending together. I had the idea that Vincenzo would prefer to stay away to keep her from harm. My romantic loser self was happy though hahahaha.
I could write on and on about the finale. The deaths were so ruthless, and what Joong Ki said kept running through my head about how people were rooting for a villain in this drama. The fact that we see this as the only option to “cleanse” and “serve justice” says a lot about our world as it is now.

My KDrama Recommendations
Honestly though, anything with Lee Sung Kyung is great because she’s perfect...These are in no particular order
It’s Okay That’s Love starring Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin
A psychiatrist and a mystery author have a lot of issues and it’s a wonderful and very intriguing drama. I laughed a lot and I cried a lot and honestly, I wasn’t able to watch another show for 5 months in fear it wouldn’t live up to this one.
Descendants of the Sun starring Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo
A special operations soldier and a doctor serve in a war torn country. One of the best I’ve seen. Very intriguing, sweet, thrilling, and endearing. I cried my eyes out, but the show had really funny moments too. It got all it’s hype for a reason.
Hwarang starring Park Hyung Sik, Park Seo Joon, Go A Ra and a lot of really attractive guys.
For one, I only watched it because of the cast. I’m a big fan of Park Hyung Sik and SHINee’s Minho so I was like “hell yea, i’m in.” Honestly, the first 5 episodes were great and the plot had major potential, but it began to drag after that. Also, the main love story was weak and hard to root for. On the other end, the main ensemble was fun to watch and the bromance was stronger than the romance. Everyone has a secret in the show and it was interesting to see what everyone’s secret was and how it all plays out. Not a terrible show but not fantastic either. It was worth the watch though...
Scarlet Heart Ryeo starring Kang Ha Neul, Lee Joon Ki, and Lee Ji Eun (IU)
A 21st century girl drowns in present time and wakes up in the Goryeo era of Korea. The first episode was cringey, but this show was awesome. It will make you cry really hard, laugh until you cry, make you really mad, and make you really happy. However, I watched the show while it was still airing and waiting for each episode was half the fun.
The Lookout starring Lee Si Young, Kim Young Kwang, SHINee’s Key, and Kim Seulgi.
This is similar to Hwarang. I came for SHINee’s Key and stuck around for the rest of the show. This show was 32 episodes long, about 30 minutes each and there were 4 episodes a week. It was very fast paced and difficult to watch with the subtitles because there is so much scheming going on. It’s easy to root for the secondary characters than for the primary characters, it dragged in the middle, and the ending seemed to set up for a sequel...If there is a second season, I would watch it, hell yea. It was a good show though, I really enjoyed it. It wouldn’t be on here otherwise.
I said no particular order, but I saved the best for last...
WEIGHTLIFTING FAIRY KIM BOK JOO starring Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk.
I could rave about this show for hours. A talented young female weightlifter meets a childhood friend, now a talented swimmer who is struggling to do his best. This show just feels real. It’s authentic, it’s very enjoyable to watch, you’ll laugh a ton, happy cry at the characters’ achievements, and bawl at their struggles. It deals with trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and social struggles. Both Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk poured themselves into their roles and it’s obvious. I absolutely adore this show. If you’ve ignored everything else I’ve wrote, pay attention to this one: all 16 hours are well worth your time, I promise.

WTK Review: The Important, Powerful Story Of "Battleship Island"
"Battleship Island" has finally been released in the U.S., and many fans are wondering it is really worthy of all the hype. After watching the movie on opening weekend, I can definitely assure you that tt has some comical and powerful elements to it, but also contains thought-provoking moments and betrayals as well. Korea is more than Kpop and its idols. It has a rich history, both marvelous and grim. This movie shows Korea’s grim history during the Japanese occupation at the end of WWII, where Korean workers were tricked and forced to work in the mines on the island of Hashima. Among the workers in the movie are a newlywed groom, a college student, musicians, and other everyday citizens. Amidst their treatment, they still find hope and a desire to fight for their freedom. It is as real and raw as it is both powerful and intense.
So Ji Sub is great playing the tough guy troublemaker who has a hard time submitting to authority, and Song Joong Ki is an independence soldier who finds that his mission to rescue the independence leader may be a bit more complicated.
Hwang Jung Min is Lee Kang Ok, a musician who goes through lengths to save his and his daughter's lives. Kim Soo Ahn, who plays So Hee, definitely brings a piece of innocence to the story as we witness the events through the eyes of a child, using her status as a musician’s daughter to survive during the rough time.
The acting was absorbing as it gets you into the feelings of the characters and helps you grasps their thoughts and emotions. While the film was captivating, a better character development would have enhanced the experience even more. Overall, this is a fantastic movie with a great storyline, a cast of superb and talented actors, and many scenes that pull at your heartstrings. However, it is also dramatic, suspenseful, and touching in a way that will leave you in tears. This story is an important one and proves to be a story that should still be remembered and taught today. What the Korean people have suffered throughout history only serves to shine a light on their inspiring resilience and bravery in the face of such horrible trials. For this powerful film, I rate it a 9/10.
Make sure you go and see this amazing movie to witness the difficulties these characters go through. When you leave the theater at the end of the film, you will definitely see Korea with a new perspective.
