Crabtree deserves a happier life

I just started watching Murdoch Mysteries Season 9 Episode 12 and I can't help but feel sorry for George Crabtree. His teaching class is not going well at all and it sucks to see him struggle like this.

George is such a kind and lovable character, and I can't help but think that he deserves so much more happiness in his life. In my opinion, George Crabtree deserves a main character level of respect. He brings so much charm and wit to the show, and his struggles and triumphs should be just as important as the other characters.

Still Standing in Canada

We did not get out of bed until after 8:30 a.m., and it was still 32 degrees. There was a bit of fog around the tops of the nearby hills, but not nearly as much as recently. The forecast high for today is only 43 degrees, but the weather app suggests there will be actual sunshine starting about 1 p.m.

My blood sugar was back down to 118 this morning, thanks to the double dose of Metformin after dinner.

We followed our coffee and brain games with oatmeal for breakfast.

Got my replacement driver’s license in the mail. No more returned calendars, despite the fact that my sister Deborah’s has apparently been lost somewhere in the mail system in Virginia. I told her I would put another one in the mail to her next week.

Spent a long time working on BudZine, adding in maps of bridge locations for Lane and Linn counties. It was Nancy’s suggestion. I had to move a few things around. And there is still about a paragraph or so of space to fill, perhaps with one more bridge or with additional info here and there throughout.

For lunchtime we had ham sandwiches and chips.

Stayed in my sweats until about 2 p.m. when I showered and changed into street clothes for going out.

We left for the 50th birthday party for Kalen’s friend, Misty, a little before 5 p.m. It was held at the Mohawk Grange, and people brought all kinds of food to share, which meant lots of snacking.

We left for home about 6:40 p.m. There were mostly local folks about Misty’s and Kalen’s age, i.e., around 50. Very few old folks, and Nancy and I got tired of the noise. Nancy was also worried about bugs that might be transferred from people who have recently been sick and showed up anyway.

When we returned home, we started our streaming with three episodes of “Still Standing,” the Canadian program that features actor and comedian Jonny Harris. He travels to small Canadian communities which are financially struggling but “still standing” and spends time getting to know the residents and their lifestyles. We watched the first four series several years ago and recently looked to see if it might still be around. Indeed, there are several more series available. Tonight’s episodes took Harris to Nipigon, Ontario; Schreiber, Ontario; and Churchill, Manitoba.

We followed those with two more episodes from the fifth series of “Father Brown,” one involving “witches” and the other boxing.

For some "mysterious" reason, Facebook auto-deleted my post where I literally was just sharing the link to where The Still Standing episode about Kimberley, BC appears to already be available to stream for FREE — but I guess the Meta algorithms even consider CBC stand-up shows about small towns to be a form of "restricted news", which seems totally normal & cool — so I will instead just share the link over here on Tumblr instead.

Me In Three Fictional Characters

I found this challenge on Threads. So I am bringing it here. This is me in three fictional characters. The irony is that these are all three Canadian characters played by three Canadian actors: Oliver Shaw of Rookie Blue, Brent Leroy of Corner Gas, and George Crabtree of Murdoch Mysteries.
