11. Favorite sport?
Badminton because i’m a proper faggot 🏸
14. Shorter or taller boys?
Though I tend to feel gangly and awkward if he’s more than about 8 inches shorter than me, that’s a small barrier and I’d say I have no real preference
19. Favorite mlm movie?
a cute Dutch teen film called “Boys” (“Jongens”) comes to mind
31. Any turn offs?
animal smells!
40. One of my favorite love songs?
Outside by George Michael is a fave lately, and it’s kind of a love song. fantastic music video

45 M/M Gay Movies, Ranked
The other day I bit the bullet and decided to watch Brokeback Mountain for the first time. All I knew about that movie was that it was basically the CMBYN of yesteryear and somebody got killed with a tire iron. Anyways, so I finish the movie and realize that I’ve seen a *lot* of gay movies, especially in the last couple of years. So here are my rankings according to nothing but my personal preference. I won’t write about all of them, but you can ask about something if I leave it out.
I wish I could give you a rubric for this. The reality is, there are some radically different movies on this list with different tones and intentions. There’s buddy comedies, tearjerkers, small indie features, big theater releases. So trying to rank them all is TUFF.
The Way He Looks - Such a beautiful coming-of-age movie. Maybe the 2nd one I saw on this list? Perfect length, perfect characterization, simple yet compelling, clever. And nothing feels better than reaching a happy ending (for once, because some of these movies’ endings-- SHEESH) that’s been earned. It just hasn’t been topped.
Tumblr media
2. God’s Own Country
3. Pride
4. Kanarie - Yea, we don’t talk about this movie enough. It’s one of the most recent that I’ve seen. Beautiful. The way that it references apartheid and the war to reflect the protagonist’s feelings? Flawless.
Tumblr media
5. Jongens - The first movie that I saw on this list, gets many a bonus point for that.
Tumblr media
6. Moonlight - Yes, I am black. Yes, I understand this movie may be too low. Moonlight kind of scares me. In general, there’s not nearly enough discourse surrounding this one for me. But while it’s not exactly a popcorn-muncher, to me it’s the most personal movie on the list. When I look at Chiron and all that he’s been through, I can’t help but draw parallels to my own story up to this point. It holds a mirror up to me in a way that no other movie on this list does. That makes me uncomfortable.
But it is so poetic. Have you guys seen the script for this? The directing, the SOUNDTRACK, the acting. Phenomenal.
Tumblr media
7. Weekend
8. Call Me By Your Name - Yes, I am aware of people’s beef with this one. Yes, I understand a lot of people may feel this one is overrated. While I do think this one gets worse on rewatch, the truth is, it’s not really *that* overrated because hot take: most (meaning over half) of the movies on this list range somewhere from “just okay” to “painstakingly bad”.
It’s the score, the cinematography, the subtext in most all of the dialogue, the acting, the way that you can smell the apricots through the fucking screen. People who say this movie is a vacation ad are fucking CORRECT. One of my biggest gripes however is that it’s too fucking long. And uh, that age difference...
And Armie Hammer’s a weirdo...
9. Dating Amber* - Dating Amber has one of those “Duh” premises that sounds like it could’ve been done like 30 times before yet I can’t think of any other examples of it. So what you’d think would be a wacky premise actually turns out to be a frankly poignant movie with an emotional story arc for the main two characters.
10. Hello Stranger: The Movie* - This movie, which is the first sequel (sorta) on the list, frankly had no business being as good as it was. Even though the web series is required viewing, I felt the movie fixed like all of the series’ issues: pacing, lack of compelling drama, the awkward quarantine format. The drama and stakes are there without us having to visit Angst City. And the theme and the ending reprise is HEAT.
11. Uncle Frank* -  Uncle Frank is like The Help of gay movies. Like The Help, it’s *overall* a short, sweet and fluffy movie set decades ago. Like The Help, you’ll still come out of it feeling pretty good even though it has some dark moments. Also like The Help, you’ll wonder after the fact if the central white girl absolutely needed to be so...well, central for this story to be told. Bonus points for Paul Bettany and Character Actress Margo Martindale.
Tumblr media
12. Brokeback Mountain - Tragic.
13. Moffie - Set during the South African border war, same as Kanarie. You even hear the word “moffie” throughout Kanarie. Anyways, this is a war movie for the gays, and a very intense watch. I liked that it was a much more realistic view of what a soldier endured during that period, and of course on the flip side I thought it was more thorough in its depiction of the rampant racism. I gotta find a good book on this era.
Tumblr media
14. A Moment In the Reeds
15. Get Real - Maybe the most out of place movie on the list. I need to rewatch it. I do recall absolutely loving the score, however. Like, I fucks with this:
youtube
16. Freier Fall - When I finished Brokeback I was like, “Wait, wasn’t that just Free Fall with extra steps?” And yea, it kinda is. But even discount Brokeback is still pretty good.
17. Beautiful Thing - There are few things to like about this one, the relationship between the two guys, the mother’s love for her son even though it’s not all rainbows, that nice little final scene. I did not care for the dark-skinned woman being portrayed as, you know, the drug abusing, school dropout, gossipy, butt of jokes neighbor. But that guy really looks like Tom Holland tho.
Tumblr media
18. Love, Simon - It’s at this point that I move from “Yea, that movie is good, you should watch it!” to “Look, you may like it, you may not.”
Tumblr media
19. The 10 Year Plan - This movie is so fucking cheesy that there was cheddar coming though my speakers. But when I think of “Hallmark/Lifetime, but for the gays” this is the crown jewel. There’s some other movies on this list that could’ve taken some notes.
20. The Christmas Setup* - The trend of fluffy-white-gay-cable-network-movie continues and in good form. It’s not deep. It’s not really thought provoking. It’s cute. Fran Drescher is there. You should watch it.
21. Giant Little Ones
22. Hidden Kisses
23. Alex Strangelove - In a unique twist, the emotional core of this one is arguably between Alex and his girlfriend. All that ends up happening, however, is we the viewer keep wanting more Alex/Elliott scenes; those are the most electric in the whole movie. The end result is a hot yet endearing mess.
Tumblr media
24. Fair Haven
25. The Thing About Harry - Freeform’s attempt at making a cheesy rom-com for the gays. It’s...okay. I personally feel like the main character’s friend is highkey trifling but it’s whatever.
Tumblr media
26. Your Name Engraved Herein* - So I guess I’ve decided I officially hate angst. I mean, I get how it’s often necessary to tell an effective story, but I’m just not here for 2 hour indie angst fests that get passed off as “high art” anymore. I cannot do it. Somehow this is Brokeback’s fault...there just has to be a better way to tell gay stories in the 2020′s. Anyways, the last song was fuego.
27. The Perfect Wedding - Easily the most bizarre movie on this list. It’s so bad, I liked it a lot.
28. Naz and Maalik - The first half of the movie with the two leads just riffing is some pretty great stuff. The back half starts throwing plot developments that are just less than interesting.
Tumblr media
29. My Best Friend
30. The Curiosity of Chance
Tumblr media
31. Being 17 - Boring. Angsty.
32. And Then We Danced
33. Center of My World - Has some of the most trifling characters EVER. I was so angry. This movie for me has *0* rewatchability.
34. Just Friends
35. 4th Man Out - This movie was basically “a bro/Hangover-style movie, but for the gays.” I absolutely love the intention, but the execution was a little shoddy. One day we’re gonna get a flawless movie that nails what this movie was going for. I hope we remember this movie whenever that day comes.
36. Latter Days - So fucking preachy.
37. GBF - Another bizarre one, but at least this movie gets how wacky it is.
Tumblr media
38. Beach Rats
39. Shelter - I’ve noticed a lot of people like this one. To that I say...yikes. Remember that scene from Family Guy where Peter says he doesn’t care for The Godfather? I did not care for Shelter. It insists upon itself (not really, but still).
40. Handsome Devil
41. Esteros - It’s at this point of the list that we shift from “Movies that are the definition of ‘ight’ “ to “These movies are bad. Bad. BAAAAAD.”
Tumblr media
42. Monster Pies
43. Were the World Mine - I couldn’t even finish it. Wanna watch a better musical? Go watch Kanarie. Wanna watch a better Shakespeare adaptation? The Lion King is the movie for you, or even fucking She’s the Man.
44. North Sea Texas - So boring. I actually think this one may need a rewatch, because I swear it shouldn’t have been as terrible as it was.
45. Salvation Army - I have no idea what this movie was going for. I understand that it is autobiographical, however...it simultaneously barely has any plot or character developments. This one has shades of Beach Rats, but it’s significantly worse, and I didn’t even like Beach Rats that much.
Tumblr media
So that’s it, thanks if you made it down this far. I guess I’ll update the list as I inevitably watch more of these. I would love movie recommendations!

Dear Zoe,
Last night when I was looking at the stars, they reminded me of you. How they have aligned and brought me here and to you, even when we can be oceans apart.
I love the way you write, it's so articulate that I can clearly imagine every word as I read. I like to write too, but it doesn't comes naturally to me. I have a hard time putting my thoughts in to words, especially in English. English is my third language in fact. I also speak Hindi and Marathi which are my native languages. It's wonderful that you are so passionate about cinema. The amount of work and attention to the details that goes into movies and film making is remarkable. I also like to cook and would love to cook with and for you. More than the cooking part, I'd like to slow dance with you in our kitchen. I can definitely relate to your liking towards the city, somehow i occasionally like trips to hill stations as well.
I am a very spontaneous person, so my favorite things are changing quite frequently. So my current favorite dish is pizza. I like to belt my heart out to sad pop songs and old hindi songs. I like to watch But I'm cheerleader when I'm sad. And I have a condition which causes me to make terrible puns. It's called Dad-ly disease.
Which is your side of the bed even if you sleep alone? What would be your ideal date if we met someday? What is your favorite sea animal? Do you like white chocolate?
Love
Ash
Dear Ash,
I am so sorry im replying this late, i had some school and work stuff but now im free again!
I am so touched that you love the way how i write, I take it as a huge compliment. I love writing but i just have to force myself to do it more often it's just that i have to write a LOT for school already so sometimes i dont want to write in my free time. It´s amazing that you can speak 3 languages! I speak dutch, english, german and i am also learning russian bc why not.
´But im a cheerleader´ is a fun movie but if you want to watch more gay movies I have some recommendations for you.
Carol, Atomic Blonde, the boys in the band, free fall and Jongens (or in english: Boys)
When i sleep alone i mostly sleep on the left side of the bed and i sleep with a stuffed animal from ikea that i cuddle with bc i have no one to lay their head on my chest. If we ever meet and we'd meet where i live and i would take you to the city and we would visit some cute book shops and vinyl stores. I would buy us pizza and we'd ride my bike to the beach to watch the sunset. I don't really have a favorite sea animal, when i was a kid I always loved orca's but my favorite animal rn is an otter. I do like white chocolate but i like dark chocolate even more.
What is your favorite movie of all time? what music artists do you like? What do you want to be when you grow up?
Love
Zoe

Evak Fic Rec
@lunawave75 asked for beautiful fanfics so I went through some of my bookmarks on ao3. It’s not up to date and my tagging system is a mess so this is in no way a complete or comprehensive list. Also, these are just my opinion. You may want to read the tags and summary first. I don’t know if you’d consider them beautiful, but most of them I had bookmarked as wow.  I tried to leave out fics that are already in my skam fic rec tag.
All these authors have written other lovely fics. So I’d totally suggest checking out their ao3 pages.
If I’ve linked or stated anything wrongly here, please let me know.
Under 10k words
Hour by Hour by everything_else (700 words) Little bit of angst and fluff. It’s really sweet. Summary: Isak is away when Even has an episode.
While I was going through their stuff, I realized they wrote: Don’t Fuss Over Me (54k words) - It’s pretty angsty. Isak meets Even when he is still in an abusive relationship (he gets out of it and recovers).
Patrick Verona eat your heart out by allyasavedtheday @littlespooneven (1k words) Ok so this is one chapter out of Ciara’s Settle Down fic which consists of 40 of her amazing one shots posted on tumblr. I love her longer fics too but I have already recommended one of them. I just love this one so much. It’s really cute and hilarious.  Oh and the first fic I ever read on ao3 was by her: Cut Us Out In Little Stars (33k words)
You Know Where I Stay by @nofeartina (2k words)
This one is slightly angsty, kinda bittersweet. It’s great. I love love love all of Tina’s writing. Fell in love with her Rearranged series first which is in my other fic rec post.
And her smut filled fic, Alphabet Aerobics is just brilliant. 26 chapters of smut from A-Z and Isak and Even grow so much in it. Also, Not the End which is a bunch of parallel universe one shots. Just… all her work is great.
It Feels Like by scritch @eiqhties (3k words) Magical Realism. So beautiful. Summary: Everything in the room is floating when Sonja gets to Even’s house. And all of their other stuff is great too.
it’s a you and me house by hippopotamus @evenshands (5k words)
Childhood friends au. I adore this fic. Summary: Even has a treehouse, and the only other person allowed up there is Isak. I love all of Rino’s writing too.
Effortless by BraveKate (5k words)
Isak and Even are in an established relationship which is portrayed through an outsiders pov. I love how the author wrote their characters here.
Dear Even, if you’re reading this then - by @cuteandtwisted (6k words)
Summary: Even wonders what Isak is getting him for his birthday this year. Little does he know that Isak is ahead of him in every way. This one is so sweet. Wiss is another writer whose stuff I love so darn much. The first fic I ever read of hers was Wake Up! and it blew my mind.
Actually, I’d recommend that one too as a beautiful fic: Wake Up! (26k words) - Summary: Even has never seen Isak before. But why does it feel like he’s the only person that matters? Or: Even can’t remember who Isak is, but he still loves him.
if you must live, darling one, just live by grinsekaetzchen  @hotchocolatenthusiast (8k words)
Post-Apocalypse au. Angsty, fantastic, beautiful. There’s a sequel which I love so much. Oh and another fic by this author: you are a kaleidoscope (2k words) - Magical realism. It’s gorgeous!
10k - 60K words
A Bridge of Magpies by junkshopdisco @junkshop-disco (13k words) A beautiful Hogwarts au. Summary: One night, Even takes his troubles to the top of the Astronomy Tower, where he meets Isak and finds what he’s been looking for: himself.
Somewhere I’ve never been by MinilocIsland @irazor (15k words)
While vacationing with his family at their cabin, Even meets Jonas a couple of times before meeting his friend, Isak.
Sideways and Slantways by iriswests @juilawicker (18k words) Summary: Isak gets stuck in an elevator with the one person he’s vowed never to speak to again. This eventually prompts a conversation long overdue, but not without the memories flooding his brain like a broken dam first. This fic is really good, as is all of her other works.
No Rain, No Roses by Fxckxxp @bisexualcaravaggio (23k words)
Oh boy this one is beautiful. Isak and Even meet when they are hired to restore a house. Set in Italy. It’s brilliant.
Dear Friend by bri_ness @brionbroadway (27k words)
Enemies to lovers. Summary: Isak and Even both signed up for the Love Letters dating service, and they’re both falling for their anonymous pen pal. I love Bri’s stuff. She also has a few reality show aus that I love. From the Big Brother, Survior, and The Mole shows.
Scene Three, Take Two by @folerdetdufoler (31k words)
Post-Break Up au. Summary: Isak is 23, a student in the veterinary program at NMBU, and working an internship at a clinic in Kongsvinger. He hasn’t seen Even in three years, but randomly bumps into him on the street when he’s visiting his mom in Oslo. This is Kerry’s first fanfic. And I love all the other stuff she’s written since as well. She could write about one of them doing laundry and I’d find it so damn interesting. She gets me hooked on her every word. All her fics!
ten meters by @spikettes (31k words)
Summary: The door to Isak Valtersen’s apartment is ten meters to the left from the front door of Even Bech Næsheim’s. Sweet, fluffy, lot’s of fun.
I’ll Be Coming Home, Wait For Me by @dahlstrom (48k words) Diner au. Fluffy. Even and Yousef open a 1950s American-style restaurant together. They hire Isak, Chris B, and Magnus. I love this one so much.
Love is a battlefield by Minutebyminute (57k words) Really angsty. Isak and Even break up in the beginning.
Over 100k words
Next to you, is where I call home by LostInAdmiration @call-this-a-mask (100k words)
Childhood best friends au. Inspired by the movie ‘Jongens’. Isak and Even compete in athletics, and have been best friends for a very long time. It’s pretty angsty. And fluffy. I love it.

Hey there! 😀 I'm not sure I have a lot of stuff to recommend except What the Health (about food industry and vegan ism) as well as very famous comedy show (parks and recs, b99, etc) that you might have seen already. However I saw you're Dutch, and I was wondering if you had any good Dutch series or movies to recommend? I'm learning Dutch since January... Anyway I hope you have some interesting suggestions 😊
Ooh thank you, I'll check them out! I love b99 so that's always a good one to rewatch too!
As far as Dutch series or movies, I don't really watch a lot of them I'm afraid! Minoes is cute (and on my list), there are some gay movies like North Sea Texas and Jongens (boys). I don't know if the latter are still on Netflix though. If I can think of something else later I'll let you know!
Just got your other ask too, thanks so much for the messages, and don't worry, you weren't rude at all!

Quick gay movies reviews
It's Pride, so I'm watching a gay movie a day to keep the heteros away. I'm going to do this once a week to review the movies I watched. Also going to discuss Heartstopper since I watched it right before Pride started. Hopefully I don't forget any, but I most likely will:
FIre Island
Tumblr media
Really cute. Definitely meant for adults. It's a great adaptation of Pride + Prejudice. I do find it funny that the movie points out that racism, especially Anti-Asian sentiments, in the gay community, and how white men are treated like the prize to win, and the most liked gifsets on here are for the side character who ended up being a rapist. Anyway, Conrad Ricamora is a dreamboat. I also loved the little bit in the middle where the soundtrack was Kim Petras, Perfume Genius, and then Alvvays. Chef's kiss.
Maurice
Tumblr media
Hugh Grant was very pretty in this movie, which is surely why most of the images I've seen of this film are of him, but his character was annoying. I loved that the conflict later on became about Maurice dating someone who was of a lower class than he, rather than the drama about him being gay. I wish the movie had kept the epilogue where the sisters accept Maurice since they realize he's happy. The movie was gorgeous to look at. The directing was beautiful.
Jongens
Tumblr media
I can see why this movie was titled Boys, since they are literally children. I wish we had more background on why the lead was afraid to come out and why he played straight until the end. It felt more of just general culture, but it's never really brought up. It just seemed to be there to add drama for the love story, but I wish we had seen that maybe his brother or his dad was slightly homophobic if we was going to be in the closet. I do realize this was written by a straight woman I believe, and I'll talk more about that in my Beach Rats review. Either way, this movie was fine. I think I'm just too old for this whole closeted kid plot, and I just wish we understood why he was in the closet besides societal pressures when no one seemed to care.
Breaking Fast
Tumblr media
I remembered the lead from Those People, and I liked him better there. I don't know how I felt about these leads being not like other gays. It felt like it painted every other gay character who wasn't the lead and his love interest as shallow, idiotic, and horny. But not these two! They like cooking together and don't drink or have sex! I think they should've skipped the religious debate if they weren't going to expand beyond some people were hurt by Islam so they left the religion, but Islam itself isn't inherently homophobic. I think that people constantly try to have it both ways sometimes, but you can't really act like conservative religious folks in Middle-Eastern countries who throw gay men off buildings aren't actually followers of their religion, much as Christians saying homophobes don't represent their religion or their attempt to make their holy text seem more progressive than it actually is.
Fun Fact: One of the men in the choir during the birthday scene is actually an acquaintance. Hey, David!
Handsome Devil
Tumblr media
I actually really enjoyed this movie, but I felt it was slightly neutered. I didn't care that the leads didn't end up together because I do think it's important that queer people can just be friends. I also don't think the movie ever states if the lead is actually gay or if he just doesn't care if he's labeled as such. I did zone out during the rugby parts, but the coach was very annoying. I do wish the English teacher and his boyfriend had actually touched at least. I did wonder if this movie inspired Alice Oseman to make Heart/Stopper since they're both about a rugby player befriending the outcast, but both projects were probably written around the same time so it's coincidence.
Matthias et Maxime
Tumblr media
What was the directing at parts of this movie? The random dramatic zoom-ins took me out. I did like the openended nature of Matt showing up right before Max goes to the airport, and I also liked Max finding the drawing Matt made of them as farmers together. I think it's interesting to think that they might actually be gay/bi but in denial due to societal norms seen by the way the one more effete member of their friend group is bullied and called a fag by the rest. I will say that if any of the characters besides Max and Matt were in a slasher flick, they'd all die. Finally, that scene where Matt kisses Max's birthmark was super-hot, and that's all I say about it.
Beach Rats
Tumblr media
While I did like that this movie gave a motivation for why our lead didn't come out, this whole movie was pretty hard to watch for me. And it wasn't because of the homophobia he faced, but because I find everyone in it prickly and awful. The best person was probably his beard, but even she had issues. I also despised the ending with the gay-bashing.
Like I mentioned earlier, this movie was written by a cishet woman, which is completely fine, but I generally find that cishet people, when writing queer characters, focus on suffering. Matthias et Maxime was also about sexuality, but it's told in a more mature way since the people working on it are actually queer. This movie seemed to be about a closeted boy (the movie makes sure to show his limp dick when having sex with a girl and his erection when he's with a man), but they focus so much on his internal struggle that it just feels like I myself am being tortured. At the end, it seems like he decides to bury himself in the closet since his friends kill a gay man over weed (which itself was ridiculous. For weed? Lordt).
I also just wanted to point out how much I hated this era of electronic music. It's so ugly-sounding to me. That scene on the boat with all the Skrillex style beats made me want to shut off this movie, especially since the whole flick made me uncomfortable (like why were there so many longing shots of prepubescent people?). Overall, do not recommend this one at all, but that's my personal taste.
HeartStopper
Tumblr media
I was very surprised to come on here and read some of the discourse people have been having on this series. People on here are seriously angry that an LGBT show aimed at a younger audience exists, mocking it for not having drug use, sex, nudity, or a lot of swearing. I think there is a time and place for all of that, and you all know that shows like Sex Education, Elite, and Euphoria exist, right? This show is for actual 12-18 year olds who are still discovering themselves, and it's meant to assure them that there's nothing wrong with them and they deserve love.
I've also been confused on people saying this show sanitizes discrimination when we have characters like Ben who are afraid to be out due to how aggressive Henry (Harry?) is, Elle being bullied and ostracized for being trans, and a whole episode dedicated to people's lesbophobia affecting Tara.
Overall, this show felt truer to my own experiences at that age than most of the series I've seen about 15-17 year olds. I also just really enjoyed it and thought it was cute. It's a show I wish I had had when I was struggling with the closet when I was Charlie's age. And to me, it being family friend is actually a bonus, so I can suggest it to my sister as a show for their young boys to watch instead of something like 13 Reasons Why, which is a sensationalized soap opera that uses scandalizes premises to generate buzz much. I'd much rather watch a show where two boys fall in love, befriend a lesbian couple from their sister school, and then join forces to setup their trans friend and her crush.
Sometimes, I just need something wholesome, and sometimes, I need something like Fire Island. And some of you seriously need a reality check if you think it's a bad thing for a major streaming service to make a rated PG show about LGBT teens when previously anything that hinted at LGBT people was automatically rated R.

Hey I totally recommend the movie “boys” or “jongens” as it’s also called. It’s about a kinda shy 15 year old who discovers love during summerbreak when meeting the fascinating boy Marc while training to compete in some championship. The movie is so fucking cute and agh I just fell in love with it, it’s like 1 and a half hour!! The movie is in Dutch but it’s easy to find it with English subtitles
i saw it a while ago!!! nice film

16. Who is your favourite lgbt+ Icon/Advocate/Celebrity?
Huge Beatles fan here, and I’m not entirely sure if this counts, but I really love the support Paul and Ringo have given to the community as a whole!
20. Your Favorite lgbt+ movie or show?
Believe it or not I don’t actually watch a lot of TV, but there is a Dutch film called Jongens (Boys) I saw a few years ago that was cute!
26. What identity advice would you give your younger self?
Hey, it’s going to be okay. Good job at starting to figure out your sexuality. But your gender...I know you’re scared and that’s why you’re trying to push back these feelings you have, but it’s going to be okay. You aren’t mistaken. This isn’t a phase. Let yourself be happy because you DO deserve it, even if you don’t think you do. Even if I don’t think I do now. One day at a time.

Can you make a list of your favorite bl movies/dramas that have a happy ending?
Yes I can ♥
Just fyi for me a happy ending doesn’t necessarily mean they end up together. Just that things end well without super sad stuff happening like deaths, etc.

Formula 17 // a funny romantic comedy from what I remember
Jongens // pretty boys :3

Ossan’s Love // sooo funny
Seven Days // probably my favorite japanese BL after Takumi
Shelter // to watch and re-watch, it’s so good!
Takumi Series // very nostalgic, basically my first BL experience
The Way He Looks // amazing brazillian movie
Waterboyy // ngern kisses a boy, that’s all I ever wanted

Here are some LGBT movies I’ve watched !!
Top picks (in alphabetical order)
Big Eden (2000) Gay artist Henry moves from NYC to small hometown to take care of sick grandfather. A really sweet, heartwarming story. Bonus points for no homophobia (!!) plot line & a gay native american man, Pike, who is adorable and crushes on Henry.
Brokeback Mountain (2005) Who hasn’t seen this? Two shepherds and their tumultuous love story over the years.
But I’m a Cheerleader (1999) Girl gets sent to a boot camp meant to alter her sexuality. Funny and aesthetic and really cheesy but worth the watch.
Carol (2015) A young woman in her 20s, Therese Belivet is a clerk working in a Manhattan department store and dreaming of a more fulfilling life when she meets Carol, an alluring woman trapped in a loveless, convenient marriage.
First Girl I Loved (2016) Girl falls in love with the most popular girl from her school. Bonus points for a nuanced and realistic portrayal of teenagers.
The Way He Looks (Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho, 2014) Brazilian coming-of-age drama about a blind boy who falls in love with his classmate. Based on a short film called “I don’t want to go back alone”, which you can find on youtube.
Holding The Man (2015) In the 1970s, two teen boys in Australia fight all obstacles thrown their way and refuse to renounce the love they feel for each other. Based on Australia’s “most famous gay biography”.
I Killed My Mother (J’ai Tué Ma Mère, 2009)  Biographical drama. Directorial debut of Quebecois actor Xavier Dolan, which he also wrote, produced and starred in. My favourite film by him.
Kill Your Darlings (2013) Biographical drama/thriller. A murder in 1944 draws together the great poets of the beat generation. Peep Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan.
Laurence Anyways (2012) A drama that charts ten years in the relationship of a transgender woman’s relationship with her lover. Directed by Xavier Dolan.
Maurice (1987) The story of a gay man in the early 20th century. A really sweet film with bonus points for being a gay period drama that - spoilers - has a happy ending.
Moonlight (2016) (see title card) A chronicle of the childhood, adolescence and burgeoning adulthood of a young black man growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami. First lgbt film (and film with all-black cast) to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards 2017.
Pride (2014) U.K. gay activists work to help miners during their lengthy strike of the National Union of Mineworkers in the summer of 1984. A truly feel-good movie every one should watch.
The Handmaiden (2016) A woman is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress, but secretly she is involved in a plot to defraud her. It’s been called a “South Korean Gothic Lesbian Revenge Thriller”. Just watch it. Trust me.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) A cult-classic and must-watch. Need I say more?
