Emilia Tarrant is a 19-year-old singer songwriter from Winchester, who started playing the piano at the age of 12 and has been writing songs ever since. She says: “songwriting is like writing a diary for me; each song comes from the heart and is a way for me to escape the daily stresses of life.”

Her early influences were formed from listening to her parent’s music collection around the house, playlists including Coldplay, Doves, Kings of Leon, Foals, Moby & Jack Johnson. Emilia says, “It was Moby who inspired me to pursue music production while in education.” Having recently completed her music and media courses, Emilia is now focusing on her music career and has recently been co-writing with other artists & songwriters, including James Walsh from Starsailor, Joshua "Joe" Keogh from Amber Run and Jonathan Quarmby (Tom Walker, Lewis Capaldi).

Her debut single ‘If You Want Love’ (produced by Coldplay-credited Danton Supple ), which climbed to Shazam UK’s chart position 16 and was featured as an end-of-episode sync on Love Island.

Tom King Releases Single “Hiding Away”

18-year-old British artist Tom King has released new single “Hiding Away”. The single is a follow up to his widely acclaimed single “Be That For Me” which was released in July.

Speaking on “Hiding Away”, Tom explains: 

“I wrote Hiding Away with Jonathan Quarmby in a session at RAK Studios. I spoke about an experience I had with someone where everything was secretive and all I wanted to do was break free from it. We came up with the line ‘Hiding Away’ and it all fell into place. I love songs that tell a story, so wanted to incorporate that when writing the lyrics in the verse. I love the feeling the song has; it’s liberating and uplifting.”

People turn out in droves to support science from New Zealand to North Pole

Scientists and science enthusiasts marched in London.

The Trump administration's assault on scientific evidence and research funding may have triggered the March for Science, but the more than 500 events around the world on Saturday demonstrated that the movement is truly global.

The marches began Friday night in Oceania, with events in New Zealand and Australia. As Saturday dawned, the marches spread to Europe, with major gatherings in Berlin, Geneva, and London, among other locations.

There were even marches, albeit small ones, in Greenland and the North Pole, where climate scientists are deployed studying the rapidly melting land and sea ice.

Mika torna da vivo in Italia con 12 concerti, questo proprio alle ultime battute, a Padova lo scorso primo febbraio, è stato seguito dal fotoracconto di Antonio Dassiè.

  Anticipato da ben cinque singoli usciti tra l’estate e questi ultimi giorni, finalmente arriva il quinto album in studio di Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr, in arte Mika.

A fare da apri-pista all’album My Name Is Michael Holbrook sono state la hit estiva Ice Cream, e i brani Tiny Love (colonna portante dell’album presente anche in una reprise in chiusura del disco), Sanremo, Dear Jealousy e Tomorrow. Quest’ultima canzone è stata scelta come nuovo singolo ufficiale e sta debuttando in programmazione radiofonica proprio in questi giorni.

Altre gemme dell’album sono Paloma, dedicata alla sorella sopravvissuta a un terribile incidente, la ballata Ready To Call This Love in duetto con Jack Savoretti, l’intimissima Blue, e poi Cry, Platform Ballerinas, I Went To Hell Lastnight,e Stay High. Tutte le canzoni sono scritte da Mika in collaborazione con David Sneddon, Amy Wadge, George Moore, Dan Black, Paul Fyfe Dickson, Dave Gibson, Mark Crew, Dan Priddy; Jodi Marr.

L’album è frutto di una marcata maturazione artistica di Mika, attraverso drammi familiari e gioie personali che l’hanno portato ad aprirsi di più, a prendere rischi e voltare nettamente pagina rispetto al passato in termini di contenuto e di presentazione della propria immagine. Mika apre il proprio cuore e le porte sulla propria vita a chi ascolta la sua musica: “Mi sono detto: se la sfida ti lancia una grossa sfida, alza la temperatura, offri il tuo cuore, scrivi melodie. Queste nuove canzoni hanno colori forti e un messaggio intimo, parlano di crescere, mantendndo i miei colori. Mi sono concentrato sull’idea di diventare un adulto senza perdere umanità, calore, il senso dei colori e dell’eccentricità”

Frutto di due anni di scrittura tra le pareti domestiche tra Miami, Londra e la campagna toscana, My Name Is Michael Holbrook ci porterà a scoprire l’essenza dell’identità di Mika, a partire dal suo nome anagrafico, passando per i rapporti familiari e un bagaglio di piccole e grandi esperienze, tra momenti di leggerezza e struggenti episodi chiave della sua vita e della sua famiglia, come spiega Mika stesso: “Certi artisti si cimentano con un alter ego artistico, dal grandioso David Bowie con Ziggy Stardust, fino a Beyoncé con Sasha Fierce. Io ho fatto il contrario, sono andato a scoprire l’uomo dietro l’artista. Diviso per 12 anni tra Mika e Michael Holbrook, ho fatto pace con la mia identità. Perché l’unico modo che conosco per vivere ed esprimermi è creare musica, scrivere, esibirmi. Senza questo, io non esisto.”

La produzione è a cura di Mark Crew, Dan Priddy e Mika con collaborazioni di Dan Black, Jonathan Quarmby e George Moore. Nel disco fanno un’apparizione anche la madre Joannie Penniman (a cui è dedicato l’album) e Paloma Penniman.

L’eclettico protagonista di una straordinaria carriera artistica (che si è articolata in attività diverse come il design e la partecipazione e realizzazione di grandiosi show televisivi come Stasera CasaMika e X Factor in Italia e The Voice in Francia) ha deciso di riportare il focus totalmente sulla musica. A dodici anni dal debutto stellare di Life In Cartoon Motion che fu lanciato dalla hit colossale Grace Kelly, il nuovo progetto arriva dopo 4 album in studio, 1 album in concerto sinfonico, 1 raccolta antologica, 23 singoli e 4 DVD live che gli hanno fruttato certificazioni d’oro e di platino in 32 Paesi del mondo per oltre 10 milioni di dischi venduti.

Sto preparando uno spettacolo ricco di sorprese, forte delle esperienze e del bagaglio acquisito con i miei spettacoli televisivi, ma riportando la musica al centro di tutto. In Italia, poi, per me sarà una emozione viaggiare da un estremo all’altro della penisola. Con Stasera CasaMika vi ho invitati tutti a fare festa a casa mia, stavolta sarò io a venire a casa vostra.
