hi! i found ur bug and bee story very recentlywith all 8 chapters completed, and wow! what a delight! i really ghad a lot of fun with it and its clear you did too, its impressive how seamlessly you just added in an extra character and didn't make it seem overcrowded or, like, someone obviously not part of this universe, that's a tough thing to get right and you did really well! also, lobe the realistic tension between bug and nancy like it just felt all very real and very yes this is how a teen girl would act in this situation, and the slow friendship development between steve and bug is fantastic, love love love a juicy enemies (one sided) to friends to lovers (??) plotline!! i was wondering if you were planning on continuing this series into season 2 or if u were done with it?? no pressures just curious! excited to see your writing!!

Hello, Stranger (Things)
So, Hamliet finally watched Stranger Things, motivated by the promise of a super hot squid villain I mean, 80s nostalgia and a good story.Â
Overall, I enjoyed it. Eleven and Max are my daughters, and Will is my son. Steve and Eddie are too pure for this world (so were Alexei and Bob). Robin and Erica are amazing. Nancy is my girl. It is a good story.Â
The writing itself varies wildly, with characterization inconsistency as the story’s main flaw. Seasons 1 and 2 were extremely tightly written and well done. Season 3 is definitely the weakest, with several characters just doing what the plot needed them to do for Reasons, but it ironically has what was, for me, the most satisfying climax. I also found Season 4, while also having some very, very, very obvious flaws in its writing, the most interesting in terms of themes about the past, choices, parents, and more. We’ll see if they continue to explore those in Season 5. If they do, it could be great.Â
The Part Where I Complain
Y’all know critique’s coming so let’s get it out of the way before I gush about other things and give theories.Â
Season 1:Â
The subtext around intercutting shots of Nancy choosing to have sex for the first time with scenes of her BFF literally dying is decidedly Not Great. Yes, I know it is a deliberate flouting of the typical horror movie trope in which the dark-haired girl who has sex gets murdered. But it still relies on this premise that women choosing to have sex for the first time is a negative and results in losing your friends and not knowing who you are anymore.Â
Season 2:Â
Season 2 introduces the good victim/bad victim dichotomy between El and Kali, and Max and Billy (which continues into Season 4 with Henry). The writers also don’t seem interested in exploring this deeper.Â
Also, the writers are addicted to sacrificial death starting this season.Â
Season 3:Â
If you thought I was going to complain about Billy’s death, you’re not wrong. But it’s honestly decently done so writing-wise it’s not terrible, and now I’ve complained a bit so let’s go on.
Why did Steve and Billy never interact again? After that fight in Season 2, there was unfinished business. I can only conclude the writers were terrified of the sexual tension. (I kid. Kind of.)Â
Mostly, here is where the inconsistent characterization emerges. Hopper’s character is the worst victim of this. His arc could have worked, but the execution didn’t. It makes a lot of sense for Hopper to struggle with anxiety and to have all his insecurities stirred up with having a daughter again. But how controlling he was to the point of threatening a child? It wasn’t shown how he got there at all. Hopper deserved a way better arc than acting controlling with El and Joyce without the substance behind that being explored.
Jonathan was also somewhat inconsistent in Season 3, again not because his conflict couldn’t work, but because the writers didn’t put the time or effort into making it work. Jonathan being mad at Nancy for pursuing the rat lead was a bit nonsensical, and then being furious when they lost their jobs--the conversation about their experiences with sexism and classism could be an excellent source of conflict for them. However, it’s brought up just once and then dropped. If you’re gonna bring it up, explore it.Â
And I know the show isn’t over and these issues could come back, but like. Patience only gets you so far when you’re telling a story in serial format which inevitably affects the experience consuming it.
Season 4:Â
Why is the Upside Down’s poison air now gone? Do you know how obvious a worldbuilding inconsistency has to be for me to notice and care?Â
Brenner’s characterization was also a retcon that puts BNHA’s Enji retcon to shame. ~He may have abused and been a monster, but he still really loved them~ The complexity, again, is not inherently bad, but it wasn’t even remotely hinted at earlier and four seasons is a long time to suddenly be like “surprise!” But I am glad El chose not to say she understood at the end.Â
Ye old "the way the world is is actually a prison and we should change it" is again the ideology of a villain. Like... really, it’s a bit tiring to see revolutionary ideas always framed as dangerous. Not that I’m advocating violence or Vecna’s solution, but. Vecna's making points. Since we can't have that let's show him slaughtering innocents to show us he's wrong even though--well--some of it ain't wrong.Â
The clear neurodivergent and gay coding of Henry Creel is... here is where I’ll invoke patience. I’m not entirely ready to say I don’t like this yet. It really depends on how the show handles it next season.Â
The Parts Where I Liked Things
Will’s sexuality (and also, just. Will)Â
Going into Stranger Things, I only knew a few things. I did know that many people were complaining about Will being a queerbait-y character, and went into the show expecting Will’s sexuality to be a subtextually teased thing that I would complain about.Â
Not the case.
Even before Season 4 Volume 4, and actor interviews aside, the show is very upfront about Will’s sexuality from like the first 20 minutes of Season 1 Episode 1. If people didn’t get that Will was gay, I’m sorry, but--how? Joyce literally says that he’s “sensitive,” and other kids call him “queer” and other things. Season 3 has Mike directly state that Will does not like girls. Yeah, kids say stupid shit all the time and people develop at different paces, but it’s a story, not real life where we say dumb things that don’t matter. In a story every detail should be important. The writers are trying to set expectations. Something that is repeated multiple times across seasons is obviously intentional. It doesn't need to be spoonfed to the audience be abundantly clear that Will is gay.Â
The scene in Vol 2 of Season 4 where Jonathan and Will talk--where Jonathan is clearly telling him that he knows Will is gay and he loves him--is beautiful, one of the show’s best scenes.Â
Give Will a Boyfriend please (Mikhail, anyone?)Â
But, more on Will later.Â
Season 4′s Themes
Like I mentioned earlier, I really enjoyed Season 4′s questions about the past, about parents, about the difficulties of growing. Everyone regressed this season: Jonathan being Mr. Mom, Joyce was absent (even w good cause), Max isolated herself, El thought she was the monster again, Steve obsessed over Nancy, etc.Â
Steve: Too Pure, Too Good For This World
Speaking of Stancy/Jancy... the writers really don’t need to draw out this love triangle. Unless a major retcon is coming (not impossible), Jancy should be endgame as it’s always been set up to be. Steve and Nancy will probably have another moment, but there’s enough weird framing of Steve’s feelings in Season 4 to make me doubt any possible endgame for them. Despite Dustin and Robin insisting it’s true love, Nancy never once said it was love herself, and the problem is that Steve also says--after Dustin has already suggested he get Nancy back--that he would date Robin if she was not a lesbian. Hence, I’m not convinced the story wants us to buy Steve really loves Nancy, or if he just loves an idea of hers.
The thing is, Steve already has what he says he dreams of. He wants six kids. Well, that’s ironic considering he has six kids Robin explicitly identifies as “your kids”: Dustin, Mike, El, Max, Lucas, Will. He also says he dreams Nancy is there with them and the kids--and she is. She already is, even if not romantically. My guess is Steve will realize this at the end of his arc.Â
Honestly, Steve’s arc is a fantastic deconstruction of toxic masculinity. Which... don’t hurt him Duffers. Don’t. I’m begging you.Â
Max Will Be Fine
Seriously, I promise. Max will be fine. You don’t leave a character in a coma unless you plan to wake them up, unless you’re the latter two seasons of Angel levels of horrifically bad writing which, for all of my complaints, Stranger Things is not.Â
Max is heavily foiled with Vecna (and Chrissy): traumatized, isolated child subject to the whims of their unstable mother. Vecna tells Eleven that he wants them to make their own rules, essentially to be gods of the world. Max, way back in Season 3, tells Eleven that “we make our own rules.”Â
Max’s words are what El remembers when she brings Max back. No, this isn’t negatively framing El bringing Max back. It’s showing that there might in fact be some nuance. Max’s rules are based in love and friendship, in hope, in love of humanity, while Vecna’s are based in hatred of humanity. To uphold Max’s message--which the story needs to do--Max has to live.Â
Eleven, I am Your Brother!
Okay, now let’s talk Squid.Â
Henry’s whole story is Star Wars. Actually, Season 4 was just Star Wars (makes sense given the 80s stuff). Brenner was Yoda, telling Eleven that she wasn’t ready to leave just yet, that if she ran out to save her friends she’d fail. I know the prequels weren’t until the late 90s-early 00s, but Anakin killing the younglings is clearly the inspiration of Henry’s rainbow room massacre. And Henry’s “join me, Eleven, to build a better world” speech is essentially Vader’s speech to Luke and Kylo Ren’s speech to Rey braided together.Â
With that said, I fully expect Henry to get some kind of human ending. Will he atone? Don’t think so. But the foreshadowing is pretty obvious. (More on that later.)Â
Brenner tells El that she and Henry are not alike: “that’s where your similarities end.” Brenner’s the least reliable narrator about this. (Also, you cannot give the abuser--Brenner--a redemptive death and not give that compassion to his victim.)
El and CompassionÂ
El’s true superpower isn’t her telekinesis. It’s her compassion. It was her compassion, her empathy with the abused child in Billy, that inspired Billy to sacrifice himself. Her compassion saved Will. Yeah, she’s human and lashes out, but she loves deeply. Her compassion freed Henry and then her uncontrolled powers turned him into Vecna (not that she’s at fault; she isn’t). But her compassion should ultimately be what helps save the world.
Vecna himself asks El this. "Why cry for them after everything they did to you?" Well, let's see Vecna. Why does Max cry for Billy? It’;s kind of a theme in Stranger Things. Even without forgiveness (like El not forgiving Brenner), she still acknowledged his humanity. I don’t have to love it to see the theme as it is.Â
I strongly suspect the main question at the end for Vecna will be "after all I've done to you, why cry for me?" But compassion is what Vecna’s missing, what he lacks in his view of humanity. It’s the true magic of being human.
Henry and Vecna, Unreliable Narrator
Did Vecna choose to become the monster like he proclaimed? Yes. And no.Â
It’s not a coincidence that an abused child targets other abused, isolated, and traumatized children. Even if Victor loved Henry, his mother was clearly implied to be considering locking him up and lobotomizing him. Like... woof. There’s a lot there subtextually. He’s clearly targeting himself as much as he’s targeting everyone else. I’m not sure the writers will entirely explore this, though. But I do think they will have him experience humanity again. They should.Â
Honestly, Victor should die trying to save/stop his son. If Victor’s alive, and if he mourns his son--which he does--he should have to consider whether he loves Henry despite everything that Henry has done. If he does, he should try to convey that even if it kills him.Â
But who will the actual key be to stopping Vecna?Â
Will as the Key
So, there are two characters--and only two--who have survived the Upside Down for any significant length of time. Vecna, and Will.Â
I actually think Will is the one who can reach Henry. It can't be Eleven, because Henry sees her as having hurt him. But a “weak” helpless boy who is an outcast, gay (Henry is absolutely coded this way) and has just been suffering his entire life still choosing love (or even choosing corruption for a time and going back to love/friendship even though I doubt the writers have the balls for this particular plotline)?Â
Vecna thinks he and El are the two most alike, but it’s actually Vecna and Will. And Will is so human, in everything Henry thinks he hates about human beings. He’s not superpowered. He’s a sad boy in unrequited love with his best friend. He just happens to have a mom and brother who love him.Â
Plus, tbh, structurally Will should be the focus of season 5. Season 1 was Mike (the heart, which Will called out funnily enough in Season 4), Season 2 Lucas (the mind), Season 3 Dustin (the body), Season 4 Eleven and Max.Â
Obvious Foreshadowing is Obvious
I’m not sure how much clearer the D&D game at the start of Season 4 could be in terms of foreshadowing. 11 couldn’t defeat Vecna.Â
But 20 did.
How interesting that the three kids still alive are 11, 8, and 1, which totals 20.Â
Henry--Vecna’s humanity--is probably going to be key to stopping himself. No, I don’t think he’ll get any sort of classic redemption, and he certainly won’t survive it, but I can see him pulling a Zeke Jaeger where he doesn’t exactly repent but still chooses to sacrifice for some bigger goal like destroying the Upside Down or something in a moment of compassion in the end.Â

Here it is! Finally! My Stranger things’ Fanfic Rec list I’ve put off for months yooo! Anyway, I hope you find something to read and enjoy y’all :)
(Oh, the * at the front of the fic title means they are my favorites!)
* objects in the mirror by Snickfic  (Complete)
Jonathan has no f**king idea why Nancy and Steve gave him the Nikon. He doesn't know why they're so insistent on seeing the pictures he takes, either.Â
why you should read it?:one reason: you can’t tell me that Jonathan doesn’t have a thing for taking pics during sexy times! you just can’t...and this fanfic is the reason why!
And you understand now why they lost their minds and fought the wars Series by Drhair76 (WIP)
The many adventures of Steve, Jonathan and Nancy as they figure out their relationship. (feat. Robin, the kiddos and a heck ton of parental figures.)
why you should read it?: Because Steve/Nancy/Jonathan’s relationship is the cutest thing in this little series...but it’s also very real in a way that’s not supernatural. Just go read the series! Warning: It does get a little angsty in later parts!
Emotion Sickness by Shypt  (WIP)
After the Battle of Starcourt, Steve struggles with the damages that the Russians left behind. In dealing with the aftermath, with the help of Robin and the Party, he uncovers a larger conspiracy at hand than just re-opening the Gate.
why you should read it?: Post s3 fic, where Robin and Steve are left with powers after the Russian’s experiments...and how they deal with that and the large conspiracy at behind why.Â
* it's a risk, it's a gamble by nondz (pinkjook) (Complete)
“I think we should pretend to date,” Robin says.
"What?" Steve answers.
why you should read it?:Â read this post and all my feelings will be revealed...or aka the emotionally sweet stoncy fic where Robin and Steve pretend to be each others beards... that might have made me weep silently a few times haha!
* Strike from the Records (it's not over 'till we're done) by SylphofScript (Complete)
If there’s one more thing Steve should have walked away with after so many incidents with the otherworldly, it’s to never trust the slow points.
They were only ever a blanket of lies, covering up a brewing storm.
Too bad Steve never learns.
why you should read it?:Â A long connective fic, where each character is common or not so common whamp trope! So beware, it gets super angsty in parts!
Have Happened by cortexikid (Complete)
"I overheard you. You were talking in your sleep.”
Steve's heart fluttered nervously.
“It was a little funny at first,” Nancy admitted, her tone a mix of teasing and apologetic, “you were moaning my name and I thought it’d be kinda funny if Mike accidentally overheard you having a sex dream about his sister—”
Steve couldn’t control the guffaw that escaped him.
“But then you said Jonathan’s name. Right after mine. All in the same breath.”
why you should read it?: You know, why not! I’ll admit, this story doesn’t entirely work for me anymore since the monster hunting trio had grown so far from their s1 characterizations, but it’s still a fic worth reading! So i am rec-ing it!
Slide Over Here by empathieves (Complete)
Nancy says Jonathan's name instead of Steve's two weeks after the Monster Hunting Incident. Steve says it instead of Nancy's name a month after. They don't talk about it until two months after, when it's become increasingly hard to ignore that Jonathan Byers has become a part of their sex life without even being in the room.
why you should read it?: Another post s1 fic, where Nancy and Steve slowly start bringing Jonathan’s name into their sex life...and how they eventually act on their desires!Â
Searching For Your Heart by cali-chan (girls_are_weird) (Complete)
One of the world's biggest action movie superstars is coming to town, and every kid in Hawkins High is determined to win MTV's back-to-school scavenger hunt and get a face-to-face meeting with their idol. Mike and his friends are sure they've got this in the bag— until the contest throws a wrench in their plans and their only shot at winning is partnering up with Mike's longtime crush, El Hopper.
why you should read it?: I’ll admit I didn’t finish this story...I was a little too fluffy for my tastes, but It’s still a cute story worth reading!
Bad at Love (Can You Blame Me for Trying) by GeoffsEightGreatestMistakes (Complete)
He liked to think the world was done throwing him curveballs. He’s had to kill the Demogorgon, get his face punched in by a crazed stepbrother, listen to his drunk girlfriend tell him she doesn’t love him, and tell his best friend that he’s a piece of shit. He thought he had somehow managed to catch enough curveballs for a lifetime. He was wrong. The newest curveball may be the hardest one yet.
why you should read it?: It’s Stoncy and my fav romantic angst trope: (not so) unrequited love/Pining!Â
* every night my mind is running around her by magneticwave (Complete)
In which Nancy gets married, Lucas gets hot, and Dustin gets to give lots of people advice that he’s only moderately qualified to dispense.Â
why you should read it?: This was my first ever ST fanfic! I had to add it on principal...of it being absolutely amazing lol!Â
* Ducks on the Pond by The Stephanois (ballantine) (Complete)
Steve Harrington knows two things to be true: the St. Louis Cardinals are the best baseball team in the world, and Nancy Wheeler is far too amazing for him to hog all to himself.
why you should read it?: It’s one of my all time favorite stoncy fics, it combines two things I absolutely love into one story: Poly relationships and Baseball (I won a MVP trophy in HS for Pitching) ...and also uses the age old euphemism of bases for sex;)Â
Across the Many Miles by FeoplePeel (Complete)
Nancy packed her bags and moved out West for Caltech. Jonathan’s East at NYU. Steve’s in the middle, Hawkins, Indiana and separated from the only people who understand by a seemingly endless stretch of land on each side. The story doesn't start there, but it doesn't end there, either.
why you should read it?: It’s actually been so long since I’ve read this one...and bruh is it long...so it’s definitely not a causal read, but it’s very very good read if you have the time for a long, long story.Â
* let this pass you by CallicoKitten (Complete)
Steve’s not entirely sure at which point in his life he became Dustin Henderson’s personal chauffeur. Okay, maybe that’s not entirely true. Maybe he can pinpoint the exact moment it happened and it honestly keeps him awake at night more than the demo-dogs or the Demogorgon or any of the insane shit that’s happened in Hawkins recently.
---
the kids drag steve on a trip to chicago to find El's sister, steve figures some shit out in the process
why you should read it?: It’s stoncy, the party, and a road trip all rolled into one...what more can you ask for haha?!
Talk Me Down by anomalation (Complete)
Nancy knows what she wants: Steve and Jonathan both, and maybe a fight. Steve knows he'd do anything for these dorky kids. Jonathan doesn't seem to want anything, but he'd also never ask them. And none of them are interested in forgiving Billy.
Featuring: some D&D, a Christmas party, a lot of relationship negotiating, no excuses for shitty behavior, and yet also the firm belief that nobody deserves abusive parents.
why you should read it?:Â Another really long, long fic that I completely enjoyed the one time I read it...and It had a nice and real redemption arc for Billy that I liked.Â
* For the Three of Us by brokenpromisesandhope
5 times Jonathan loved Steve and Nancy and one time they loved him back.
why you should read it?:Â The summary pretty much says it all...
* decide on me (decide on us) by mjolnirbreaker (Complete)
Robin could very well die tonight in her stupid work uniform, and honestly she doesn’t want to dwell on it. So she’s going to make it her personal mission to figure out what’s up with Steve’s romantic life, and hopefully they don’t die before she solves the puzzle.
why you should read it?: It amazes me to this day...just how close to canon this author had gotten for Robin’s characterization and her relationship with Steve!Â
* fly me to the moon by bleuboxes (Complete)
It's a Saturday night; he's watching one of those Star Wars movies with Robin - who won't shut up about how hot Leia looks.
Steve mentions something briefly about how he likes Han’s hair, rugged tough guy appearance, and general aloofness. Robin rolls her eyes, mutters an 'of course you do', then throws popcorn at his face.
why you should read it?: Okay, I related way too well to this story! Han Solo was one of my bisexual awakens too...and I didn’t realize until years later lol! It’s also a sweet story about how Robin slowly helps Steve through his awakening like a real BFF should.Â
God Help the Outcasts by willwrite4coffee (Complete)
Robin Buckley's always been a little different, but to her, that's never been a bad thing.
She's been on the outside looking in, an outcast, but she'd rather spend her evening with Sousa than at a kegger.
Being an outsider has never been a bad thing.
(also known as, why does no one know Robin in such a small town like Hawkins?)
why you should read it?: A cute little story about Robin and Steve’s friendship directly after the events of s3...and how the party and Nancy and Jonathan slowly begin to accept Robin into the fold.Â
Oh, and anything by @trulyalpha! Here’s the Ao3 link!
#stranger things#fanfic rec list#i am completely sure that i am missing some#but i've read a lot of st fanfics#so there is more than likely to be a part 2#so yay...i guess lol#none of these works are mine....and if you want your tumblr link at the end#just dm me#image not mine

Stranger Things 2 thoughts:
Have just finished the second season of Stranger Things, so prepare for a brain fart of thoughts I had for the season!
Yes!!! There are spoilers!!!
So, DO NOT READ IT IF YOU DON'T WANNA KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT
.
.
.
.
.
.
So, you've finished the season too? Great, WHAT A SEASON RIGHT?!
I mean, I don't know about you, but Season 2 was a much better ride than the first one. Now, to me, the first season is just a detailed prologue of THIS SEASON
Right off the bat, I cannot believe how much the kids have grown. I mean, MY GOODNESS AM I JUST GETTING OLDER FASTER? I MEAN, THESE KIDS ARE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL AND YET!!!
I find it interesting how there is tension now among the party, especially with Dustin and Lucas clearly moving on better than Mike and Will from the previous season.
Dustin and Lucas are very much moving forward, encountering the adolescent trials of life while Mike and Will are pretty much still trying to move on from EVERYTHING
Of course, Will is a given. (FOR GOD SAKES PROTECT THE BYERS FAM AT ALL COST) That said, Noah Schnapp was given the prime opportunity to flex his acting prowess this season.
This kid is SLAYED IT!
I mean, the level of emotional and mental breakthroughs he had to tap into!!!
Dustin had the most layers here in this season among the party. I was SO STRESSED OUT with his protectiveness of Dart BECAUSE KID C'MON WHAT but okay you know okay.
Lucas, honey, you are have been underdog for the past two seasons. Honey, we gonna give you your moment.
Mike, my darling, my child, my son, you're Samwise to Frodo! Will. You and your friendship with Will, omg!
MAD MAX, ah, Mad Max. You didn't deserve to be savaged by Mike so much, honey.
But you held your stand and, sweetheart, just keep doing you!
I felt Eleven took the backseat, but it is okay. She had her moment to shine.
Tbh, the lost sister felt a bit... out of place... but I understand its purpose and it adds more layers to her history (and perhaps a foundation for the hird season???)
But the Eleven!highlight for this season was her chemistry with Chief Hopper, omg.
It was endearing to see it unfold.
At moments, I had his Leon-Matilda vibe... but their tandem probably referenced Terminator or Aliens or Last of Us more.
Plus, given Millie is basically this gen's Natalie, it was likely through this where I felt that Leon-Matilda vibe.
Also, Millie continuing to show why she is a force to be reckoned with. PROTECT HER FROM HOLLYWOOD's BLACK HOLE PLS
From the kids, we go to the adults of Stranger Things and OH MAN THE ADULTS IN THIS SEASON !!!!
JOYCE FRICKIN BYERS IS MOM OF THE YEAR FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE ROW!
It was Winona Ryder's portrayal that got me into this series, and she didn't fucking disappoint this season.
YOU DON'T MESS WITH HER AND HER BOYS!
CHIEF HOPPER WAS SO BADASS and such the papa bear we wanna hug and snuggle because jfc the MAN WILL PROTECT YOU NO MATTER WHAT HE WILL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE MESS TO SAVE PEOPLE AND HIS LOVED ONES AND OMG HIS BLACK HOLE ANALOGY CRUSHED ME
And OMG SEAN ASTIN PLS DO NOT TOUCH ME IT WAS LOTR "MR. FRODO I CAN CARRY YOU" UGLY CRYING ALL OVER AGAIN
It is tHAT ANGEL FACE OF HIS. HIS SINCERITY TO HELP MAKE THINGS BETTER. HE JOINED THE RIDE NO 👏🏽 QUESTIONS 👏🏽 ASKED 👏🏽 AND THAT MAN WAS A TROOPER
AND OKAY THE TEENS
The fucking teenagers of this Hawkins town.
OKAY, WHOEVER BULLIED WILL, GTFO!!!
Let's get one thing straight: I had always believed those who called for Barb's justice had at least a dislike for Nancy BECAUSE THAT GIRL BRUSHED OFF HER BFF TO GET STEVE OKAY
I was super... I mean... NANCY FOR CHRIST SAKE
But of course, this season touched upon how Nancy's actions that night contributed to the death of Barb and how horrible it made her feel.
It is an absolute difficult situation to be placed in, but EVEN THOUGH WAE estABLISHED THIS as basically Nancy's motivation this season, we STILL get sidetracked by the fucking Jonathan v Steve scenario.
I mean, COME ON GUYS CAN WE MAXIMIZE THE WHOLE NANCY IS A BADASS CARD??
SECOND, STEVE HARRINGTON'S CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS JUST BEYOND ME. I HAVE NEVER HATED A CHARACTER THAN LOVED HiM SO MUCH AS I DID STEVE.
His surprising chemistry with Dustin is just one of the season's highlights. Plus, him in this big brother role to Dustin and the rest of the kids.
LIKE WHAT HOW IS HE THE WORST THEN THE BEST CHARACTER IN A SEASON
THIS 👏🏽SAID👏🏽 WHY THE ABSOLUTE FUCK IS JONATHAN THE MOST OVERLOOKED CHARACTER IN THE DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
WE COULD HAVE GIVEN HIM SOMETHING MORE SIGNIFICANT TO DO AND AT LEAST HAVE MADE HIM MORE INVOLVED WITH HIS FAMILY THIS TIME AROUND
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY HE HAS TO BE SO ATTACHED TO NANCY WHEN THE EMOTIONAL PULL OF HIS CHARACTER CLEARLY LIES WITH WILL!!!
They have the best moments together!!! But it is never fully highlighted how much they are great siblings to each other because Jonathan is with Nancy 95% of the time when HE SHOULD BE WITH HIS MOM AND BROTHER !!!!!!!!!
It may have given his exchanges with Will in Episode 8 (A PHENOMENAL EPSIODE BTW) some more punch, had Jonathan been more involved rather than just catching up on what had gone down!!!
(ALSO CAN I MENTION HOW WE ALMOST NEVER RECALL THAT NANCY AND MIKE ARE SIBLINGS? THEY MIGHT HAVE ONLY HAD INTERACTED ONCE THE ENTIRE SECOND SEASON)
And fucking Billy. Holy fuck, was that guy a total 80's douchebag. Absolute superb acting done though, I gotta hand it to him.
I hated guts. I hated his face.
But when his dad military the shit of his buttonless top, I understood why Billy is a fucking asshole.
And I actually felt sorry for him.
TL;DR
Stranger Things 2 was fantastic, perhaps better than the first one.
Always protect the Byers fam.
Sean Astin is a gift.
PLS GIVE JONATHAN BETTER CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
