On a wall in the administrative wing of the Magnus Institute, leading up to the head office, there hangs a portrait of every director in chronological order, looking down upon generations of Eye-claimed employees. The Godhead's cold grey eyes stare out of the face of each one. At the very end, though, is a unique one, in its heavy, ornate frame.
It isn't the only painting, and it isn't the only one in color, but it is the only group shot.
The Institute was ostensibly founded by Mordechai Lukas, but it was no secret his spouse was the first director. It bore the Magnus name, after all. In this portrait, Mordechai sits in comfortable middle age, with Jonah's hand resting on his shoulder. Behind him stands the couple's only son, Malcolm. Although somewhat stiff, as most Victorian portraiture was, there is something warm to the family. Something loving. Something happy.
Malcolm Lukas is alone in the next director's portrait. Although it is dated only a decade later, he seems to have aged three. He looks haunted, ravaged.
And now he has his mother's eyes.

Blue Eye Samurai - Season 1 (2023) Review
Don't think I've ever seen so much human genitalia in animated form all in one go. Makes me wonder if the production team had a designated animator of genitals who literally just spent his time drawing penises for the show. If so, I hope it was Jonah Hill as he already proved in Superbad that he is the perfect artist for this subject.
Plot: Driven by a dream of revenge against those who made her an outcast in Edo-period Japan, a young warrior cuts a bloody path toward her destiny.
Netflix consistently hashes out so much content every week, that it is hard to keep up with any of it, as such many great projects get missed and are forever lost in the streamer's endless library void. Luckily Blue Eye Samurai didn't pass my scrolling and evidently has its fan base, as this is one of the quickest examples of the streaming giant announcing a season renewal after release. Yep, Blue Eye Samurai will be getting a second season which is amazing as this is a superb new series that if you haven't yet discovered then you are doing yourself a disservice and should amend that behaviour immediately and go watch it! Still need persuading? Alright, sit yourself down and allow me to gush about Blue Eye Samurai!...
It’s hard to overstate just how stunning Blue Eye Samurai is to look at. The series uses a mix of 2D and 3D animation styles to create landscapes and characters who seem only a few degrees removed from live-action, even as the form allows for combat on a scale that would cost several large fortunes to craft with flesh-and-blood actors. In fact, looking at the behind-the-scenes the team hired an actual martial arts choreographer to support in creating the combat sequences in real life with real people, and then the movements of those fights were transferred to animation and used in the final product. In one episode (seemingly inspired by the 1978 martial arts film Enter the Game of Death where Bruce Lee had to fight his way up to the tower to get to the last floor) the main samurai Mizu must defeat multiple bosses on each level of the season's big bad Fowler’s impregnable fortress home, and each separate battle is a work of art in itself. Honestly, the show just looks like a moving painting, with every frame absolutely jaw-dropping gorgeous. Even without dialogue or characterization, it would be completely engrossing.
Luckily, writers Michael Green and Amber Noizumi are as interested in the people at the center of these crazy fights as they are in the many improbable techniques Mizu uses against her opponents. Mizu is presented throughout as both supernatural and deeply human. She can handle any odds, and come back from every injury that would cripple or kill a normal person. But the series never loses sight of what a life wholly devoted to revenge has cost her, and the ways in which she has turned herself into every bit the monster that her countrymen believe her to be.
It is then also the exploration of how Mizu interacts with the other characters in this world. There's the disabled would-be apprentice Ringo (played warmly by Masi Oka), who has learned to navigate life despite his lumbering size and lack of hands. Mizu has no interest in a sidekick, but Ringo gradually wears her down, as if he’s a peaceful stream flowing against a rock over hundreds of years. There's also Taigen (Darren Barnett), a warrior chasing after Mizu to collect a debt of honour, yet due to this honour he ends up helping her as in his eyes only he has the right to kill her, no one else, so ends up attacking those that attempt to harm her. Brenda Song voices the princess Akemi, who is just as eager to escape the bonds of Edo society as Mizu is, but who uses very different methods to achieve that. We follow her journey through an intimate tour of the area brothels, which is where the aforementioned heaviness of nudity comes in. There is, in fact, a lot of naked flesh on display throughout the season. The series can be just as graphic in depicting sex as it is in violence, yet both avoid feeling gratuitous. And finally, there's Kenneth Branagh as this season's big bad Fowler, a despicable arms dealer who has no sense of morality or empathy and is willing to destroy anything standing in his path. He's a massive presence and seemingly the only one able to hold himself in a fight against Mizu, hence why Branagh's British snark yet heavy tone fits perfectly here.
The whole thing is an incredible, utterly badass example of how animation can be used to create worlds, characters, and adventure every bit as vivid as live-action if not more at times. Even though I would say there are a few areas of pacing issues, which withheld me from binging this season all in one go and instead had me taking regular break intervals throughout, this is still a stellar show and one that you can tell was created by a team of passionate filmmakers and artists. Blue Eye Samurai would never have had the impact it did had it been live-action - using animation as its storytelling medium elevated it to a masterpiece in my opinion. Kudos to everyone involved in such an amazing project and I can’t WAIT to see more!
Overall score: 8/10

• Actor Jonah Hauer-King falls in love with reader Y/N after a genuine connection forms between them over shared interests and meaningful conversations. They embark on a beautiful journey of love, laughter, and adventure.
In the whirlwind world of acting, Jonah Hauer-King had always believed that true love could only be found on the silver screen. He immersed himself in his craft, pouring his heart and soul into every performance, but his heart remained guarded, shielded from the possibility of real-life romance.
That all changed one fateful day when Jonah met Y/N. Y/N, a fervent reader with a captivating presence, walked into his life like a breath of fresh air. It was as if the universe conspired to bring them together, weaving an enchanting tale of its own.
Jonah couldn't help but notice Y/N in the audience during his performances. Their eyes held a spark of curiosity, and he sensed an unspoken connection forming between them. It was as if Y/N truly saw him, the person beyond the actor, and Jonah found himself drawn to their genuine spirit.
One evening, after a particularly invigorating performance, Jonah ventured to the stage door to meet his fans. Among the sea of faces, his eyes found Y/N's, and his heart skipped a beat. There was an undeniable chemistry, an unspoken understanding that unfolded between them as they exchanged a few words.
As the days turned into weeks, Jonah's thoughts were consumed by Y/N. He found himself daydreaming about their conversations, their shared interests, and the way their laughter blended harmoniously. Y/N had a way of challenging his perspective, igniting his passions, and opening his heart to the possibility of love outside the confines of a script.
With each encounter, Jonah discovered new layers to Y/N's personality. Their love for literature mirrored his own, and they bonded over their favorite authors and stories. He admired Y/N's intellect, their ability to see the world through different lenses and their unwavering support for his own dreams and aspirations.
As Jonah and Y/N spent more time together, their connection deepened, transcending the boundaries of ordinary friendships. He found himself falling, surrendering to the irresistible pull of their shared moments, their stolen glances, and the way Y/N's smile lit up the room.
In Y/N, Jonah had found a partner who challenged him to grow, encouraged him to be his authentic self, and celebrated his successes with genuine joy. They became his muse, inspiring him to explore new horizons and push the boundaries of his art.
One beautiful day, as they strolled hand in hand through a sunlit park, Jonah realized that love had found its way into his heart, and its name was Y/N. Their presence had transformed his world, filling it with colors he had never seen before, and he couldn't imagine his life without them.
With each passing day, Jonah understood that the greatest performance of his life was not on a stage but in the tender moments shared with Y/N. Together, they created their own story—one of laughter, adventure, and unconditional love.
In Y/N's embrace, Jonah discovered that true love existed beyond the realms of fiction. Their connection surpassed his wildest dreams, and he knew in his heart that their love story was just beginning—a love story that would be written in the pages of their shared journey, forever etched in their souls.

For the plot bunny ask game: Jonah Hauer-King + Bridgerton + Sienna Rosso, please??
@dancingsunflowers-ocs 💖
name: robert john wynn
age: 27, born 1788
sexuality: heterosexual
job: actor
love interest: sienna rosso
brief summary: sienna rosso is done with men and love and all that stuff. she’s decided to focus on her career and engaging in the art of acting. but then she’s cast as beatrice opposite to robert wynn’s benedick in a production of shakespeare’s much ado about nothing. robert, the disowned fifth son of an earl, has spent much of his adult life dedicated to his craft, aiming to prove to his father and brothers that his choice of career is worth it. after all, the army would never be the right choice for him and neither would the clergy. thus, he’d ended up pursuing the art of acting. he never expected to meet someone as electric on, and off, stage as sienna rosso. she’s sworn off men and well, robert’s connection to the ton leaves her even more on edge than she’s ever been. plus, there’s something about being around robert that’s different than any of the other men she’s ever been with.
5 adjectives to describe them: thoughtful, intelligent, charismatic, kind, stubborn
faceclaim: jonah hauer-king
send me a fandom and i’ll create a plot bunny for it

Happy Valentine's Day!
I'm getting this post in with forty minutes to spare in my timezone but here's a rundown of whether my selfships celebrate Valentine's Day and what they do!
Jester: YES! I get her presents on Valentine's Day: flowers, chocolates, classic things, and we go out for some kind of event.
Tate: KIND OF! We don't do anything romantic together but we celebrate with the kiddos in the house: making crafts, reading kid's books about love.
Himiko: KIND OF! We get dressed and go out to a club, but we mostly don't dance with each other, so it's not terribly romantic. But the helping each other get dressed part and the 'coming home exhausted and falling asleep together' parts are very intimate.
Tomura: YES! We don't do too much more than go out for a fancy dinner, but it's an event that we both look forward to.
Toshinori: NO (but yes)! I'm not into Valentine's Day but Toshi always brings me a present and cooks us both dinner. It makes me uncomfortable but happy at the same time, and it makes him happy, so I just try to get used to it and not feel like it's a burden on him.
Zero: GOD NO! Commercialized romance? Yuck, not either of our thing.
Slashers: YES! It's an arts and crafts day and it's one of my favourite holidays. Everyone exchanges Valentines anonymously and it's so sweet.
Alex: NO! Nadsats aren't much for the holilolys, they're apparently gloopy. Too childish. All the better, to me.
Joker: KIND OF! There are holiday themed crimes to commit, does that count? He might take me out all dolled up if he feels like making some kind of point.
Val: YES! We're both elementary teachers, so there's a level of celebration at school, and then we get a babysitter and go out for dinner as well.
Grelle: KIND OF! There are holiday themed crimes to investigate, and we'll definitely find time for romance in there somewhere.
Cecil: YES! There are important Valentine's rituals to follow if you want to survive the day.
Tumblr: YES, although mostly as a prank war: we stuff as many Valentines as we can into each other's bags or lockers.
Death: NO! If either of us thought of it, we'd both think it was sweet, but neither of us keep track of the days well enough to actually catch the date.
Gertrude: YES! I wrote a poem for her and she bound a little book of memories for me, it's a sentimental hand-made gift holiday for us.
Dirk: NO! There is a pitch romance celebration day that we celebrate with separate traditions, but we don't do the flushed romance day.
Jonah: NO! He buys himself chocolates and enjoys them because I can't have any, and we both snoop on who's hooking up in the Institute and who's sad because they're alone.
#valentine's day#selfship#my selfships#bam!!! big list to celebrate!#gotta get all of the f/os in there#AND i'm going to tag it with all of them#everyone stand back#long post#my sweetling#my ghost boy#bestie hours#my gamer boy#sunflower time#waiting in the stars#evil slasher orphanage#the lover who laughs#clockwork siblings#val <3#don't fear the reaper#listener and watcher#my beloved hellsite#death becomes them#archivist my archivist#heart of hearts#eyes on you

Quite a bit of art today!
[ (Ha! thought I, ha, as the flying particles almost choked me, are these ashes from that destroyed city, Gomorrah?)
1. In Genesis 19, God destroys Sodom and Gomorrah, the wicked cities of the plain, by raining fire and brimstone upon them.
(It seemed the great Black Parliament sitting in Tophet)
2. Hell.]

3. A “temptestuous wind, called Euroclydon,” buffets Paul’s ship in Acts 27. The old writer is presumable Ishmael’s invention.
(old black-letter, thou reasonest well)
4. From the name of the type in the earliest printed books, resembling the script of medieval manuscripts.
(Poor Lazarus there, chattering his teeth against the curbstone for his pillow, and shaking off his tatters with his shiverings, he might plug up both ears with rags, and put a corn-cob into his mouth, and yet that would not keep out the tempestuous Euroclydon. Euroclydon! says old Dives, in his red silken wrapper—(he had a redder one afterwards))
5. In the biblical parable Lazarus is a beggar who is saved, while a rich man (Dives) is daned to the fires of Hell. See Luke 16: 19-31.]

3. Not a bunkmate but a “silent partner,” that is a partner who takes no visible part in the business.
(He stood full six feet in height, with noble shoulders, and a chest like a coffer-dam)
4. A watertight structure from which repairs can be made on a ship below waterline.]

tell me about your characters :)
the Guys i am usually thinking about are my characters from what ive been calling trinityverse as a placeholder title (which now that im thinking about it is not really an appropriate name anymore but whatever) i am currently trying to develop them into a comic and/or multimedia experience
its a story about fame and why we make art and also being friends with bad people who you love deeply but most importantly making TV in the early 2000s
HG is an arrogant TV writer/director who wants to be remembered forever, whatever it takes. Jonah is her best friend w major mental health problems and lead actor in her show, Hell/Bent, an early 2000s hit about a teenage serial killer seeking revenge on his abusive father.
Jonah
HG
Two of Them (God these are old as balls i need to draw more of them together)
Basically in 2004 HG began her Life Plan To Be Remembered Forever, which was to make a TV show about a serial killer while actively killing people to "perfect her craft," ideally ending in her intentional arrest and execution which would cement her show as a cult classic for years to come. Jonah did not know about this life plan. He does know his really intense best friend from college is making a TV show and wants him as the lead. They feed on each other in a really unhealthy way because Jonah only feels alive when he's acting and trusts HG with his life even as she continues to push him into more and more dangerous extremes as an actor.
this is all set against the backdrop of the rise of prestige TV in the early 2000s and how the US started to think of TV as art.
anyway these guys are my world they are like fully fleshed people in my mind. i made them when i first started film school and developed the story over my time here so i feel like they went to college with me <3
pls check out the tag if youre interested there is lots of lore and stuff that i did not cover here! im also finishing up a full fake EW article with them so that will be up here soon probably
#this is LONGG SORRY BUT THANK YOU SM FOR ASKING ABT THEM!!!#i WILL ANSWER ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS#yeah ideally i will publish something with them some day they are literally ALWAYS on my mind#warlock wartalks#long post#trinityverse#my ocs

Judah, Tamar, and the Indomitable Flame of Chanukah
By Jonah S.C. Muskat-Brown
Art by Sefira Lightstone
Hide and Seek
As a young child, Rabbi Avraham the Malach, son of Rabbi Dovber, the Mezritcher Maggid, burst into his father’s study in tears.1
While playing hide-and-seek with his friends, he explained, he had hidden so well that nobody could find him. After some time, he reasoned that his friends’ prolonged silence meant that he had won the game and he decided to come out of his hiding spot to reveal himself and claim his reward.
As soon as he emerged, however, he noticed that they had all turned to playing other games and had given up trying to find him. He cried to his father at the thought of everyone having abandoned hope of him ever returning, thinking he had disappeared forever.
In many ways, the young boy’s pain is similar to our collective relationship with G‑d throughout history.
Shortly after their creation, Adam and Eve, the first humans, played hide-and-seek with G‑d in the Garden of Eden. They first hid in shame and embarrassment of their new self-awareness;2 shortly thereafter, it was G‑d’s turn to hide. Sadly, He has hidden so well throughout our dark and difficult years of exile that, over time, we began to forget His existence and ultimately stopped looking for Him.3
But, in truth, the connection has never been severed.
Our Loyalty
We always read the puzzling narrative of the incident between Judah and Tamar in close proximity to the seemingly unrelated holiday of Chanukah.4 The Torah describes how Tamar, twice widowed from Judah’s two sons, concealed her identity, dressed as a harlot, and had relations with her father-in-law, Judah. Before engaging in this act, she requested that he leave his ring, garment, and staff with her as collateral in lieu of payment for their brief encounter.5
Three months passed, and someone informed Judah that his daughter-in-law, Tamar, had become pregnant through harlotry. Ignorant to the fact that he was responsible for her pregnancy, Judah ordered that she be taken out and executed. Tamar then quickly revealed the security belonging to the one with whom she had relations. Judah immediately identified his belongings and took ownership for what he had done.
Tamar merited to birth twin boys, one of whom gave lineage to the future Messiah.
We are each crafted with a literal spark (or essence) of G‑d buried within us,6 and we can never lose our deep connection with our Source despite how we might behave at times.
Rabbi Avraham Dovber of Avritch teaches that the same way that Judah accused Tamar of being immodest or unfaithful, G‑d accuses us of betraying our relationship with Him.7
But when we kindle the Chanukah lights three months after experiencing a heightened and intimate closeness with Him during the High Holidays, we point to our soul and cry out in protest, “The spark of Yourself that You left within us when You went into hiding three months ago is still there! We still believe in the potential for closeness between us and that we can rekindle it!”
The Flame Within
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, took this one step further. He taught that symbolically, we are each a candle yearning to be kindled.8 The candle’s wax is analogous to the body, while its wick symbolizes the soul. Neither fuel nor wick, body or soul, serve any positive function unless joined with the other, with the common purpose of creating a flame.
In truth, each of us has a small jug of oil buried deep within, still bearing the seal of the High Priest (more specifically, the seal of G‑d) that the Syrian-Greeks (or any oppressor) can never access.9 This is why, after re-entering the Holy Temple following the war with the Syrian-Greeks, the Jews insisted on searching for oils specifically bearing the seal of the High Priest,10 and did not begin producing new oil from the onset even though it was indeed permitted to do so.11
The Courage to Kindle Our Own Light
We can debate whether the miracle of Chanukah centered on the war between the clashing Jewish and Hellenistic values (and armies)12 or whether it focused on the small jug of oil burning exceedingly longer than expected.13
But perhaps the greatest miracle in this story is that during the darkest hour of the darkest month in the Jewish calendar, we have had the courage, year after year, to set that oil alight and brighten up the world around us.
When all seems dark and lost, when our enemies – both external and internal – attack our personal Temple and desecrate our Holy of Holies, Chanukah empowers us to stand up and dispel that darkness with light.
For no matter how bleak reality may seem, darkness cannot exist alongside light – even just the tiniest of flames. Each of us, without exception, has the strength buried within to ignite that spark.
We need to be the light we want to see in this world, igniting our own souls and inspiring others to kindle theirs, as well.
How many times do we have aspirations we keep dormant because we convince ourselves that we will ultimately fail? How many times do we give up on our dreams before even beginning to work toward them? We cannot pass up opportunities because we believe others will shine brighter or burn longer. We each bring a light for which the world has been waiting for so many years.
Now is our time to shine!

This our first room that requires some extra context! As you may recall, the Schneeflocke Manor is decently old and is full to the brim with rooms, not just for the family but for the staff. That is the case here, Jonah and Jeans rooms are connected because many decades ago the top section was a room multiple maids shared and the floor below was storage room for some of the supplies needed to do their work.
Figure 1- Luckily for me, the Sims 4 has a whole pack related to DIY primarily knitting! This is his crafty corner. He has lots of storage for his knitting, crocheting, felting, etc. supplies. Jonah can knit at his desk and look up new designs to make on his little tablet w/ keyboard attachment, or take designs from the knitters almanac next to it. Though he prefers the grandma vibe of knitting on the rocking chair in the corner. On his little hallway table he has a box for crossstitching and a box for friendship bracelet making.
Figure 2- The entrance to his room, with only one scone because POOR people were put here!!! The flowers on the wall are felt sculptures Jonah made 🙂 There's also his pride flags.
Figure 3- Jonah's sleeping nook which is a posh chic dream. He has two dressers, one of which is acting as like a tv table. His vanity has his colognes and male skincare stuff, along with his big box of haircare so he can take good care of that giant curly lions mane of his.
Figure 4- I kind of struggled with filling up this space so I went with a big mirror for Jonah to mix and match outifts and a carpet visually guiding the eye to the staircase.
Figure 5- Jean's corner of absolute insanity, the wall is covered in different files, papers, and posters pertaining to different cold cases, conspiracy theories, and unexplained events. She has a bookshelf with books pertaining to them. Ideally there would be some red strings here and there. Jean is convinced everyone else is just really dumb and she's solved so many of these. Sometimes she's right. She has a sick ass frog rug and some crafts her twin brother made 🙂
Figure 6- This is the whiteboard where Jean maps out her newest theories and forces whatever poor sibling she's trapped down there to listen, usually Jonah or Jolyne. Jack will also humor her because he's loyal to his country but deeply untrusting of the government. Giant metal flower she found outside (see: stole from a playground).
Figure 7- Going from left to right we have a bucket of water balloons that Jean uses for pranks with Judah, which are so much worse when you remember he makes ice bombs LOL Jean has this sick ass hexagon shelf filled with random items she insists are haunted oddities. Her wall is a mixture of cool art she's stolen from humans and macrame Jonah's made for her!
Figure 8- Jeans bed and dresser, topped with some quirky knick knacks. Above her bed is Jeans attempt at being artistic like her brother.

Another fantastic issue that finds MJ meeting with J. Jonah Jameson and Ben Parker on how to move the Paper forward while Spider-Man continues to explore his life as a superhero while having some misgivings about Harry's methods and the new suits. Hickman continues to craft a fantastic new take on Peter Parker/Spider-Man, in one who already understands responsibility and now must learn how to use the power to do something about it. His class with Harry over how to deal with a super villain plants seeds for a future conflict while also developing their friendship further. Plus, it's great to see a dynamic and intelligent MJ, one sorely missed in the 616 books. This is matched by Checchetto's gorgeous art, whether delivering some dynamic action to perfect depictions of the characters (MJ has never looked more gorgeous). Remains the best Spider-Man book on this stands.

Mr. Gnome Unleashes Psychedelic Masterpiece 'A Sliver of Space' with Ferocious New Single 'Fader'
Pushing the boundaries of sonic exploration, Cleveland art-rock duo Mr. Gnome crafts a vibrant, ever-changing realm of psychedelic orchestration on their eagerly anticipated LP, *A Sliver of Space*, slated for release on September 27th via El Marko Records. Following the release of their first single, "Nothing and Everything," Mr. Gnome unveils the new single "Fader" —a colossal track that tears through its seven-minute runtime with relentless ferocity and a full-on sonic assault. Check out "Fader" on YouTube, and see below for the most up-to-date list of North American fall tour dates. Pre-order the vinyl and CD, and find it on Bandcamp. "We had just finished mixing our album and were about to send it off for mastering when this song crept into our brains. We fell in love with the heavy, gritty vibe and the contrasting gooey vocals, and kept pushing this song as far as we could take it," they explain. "Our brother and longtime collaborator/touring guitarist/bassist, Jonah Meister, added lead guitars that dance around the vocals, including a breakneck improvised solo. Combining our love of The Stooges, Black Sabbath, Joy Division, and 90s shoegaze, we had a ton of fun writing this one." Mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer (Interpol, Tennis, Temples, Panic! At The Disco, Parquet Courts, Ra Ra Riot), *A Sliver of Space* bursts with hypnotic, gritty rock anthems that suddenly give way to long-form, drug-fueled journeys, transporting the listener on a surreal trip from start to finish. Mr. Gnome continues to defy simple genre classification, creating a dense tapestry of textures, aural fabrics, and influences that coalesce into a unique, defining sound. Throughout its relatively compact runtime, electronica, desert rock, punk, indie rock, and lush soundscapes swirl and converge, all woven with the continuous thread of lead singer/guitarist Nicole Barille’s golden harmonies. "When we started writing *A Sliver of Space*," they recount, "we were working through a lot of personal loss and life upheaval. Lyrically and musically, nothing was off limits, and we dove headfirst into exploring the liminal, dreamlike spaces between life and death, consciousness and unconsciousness, the past and the future, happiness and sadness, the real and the make-believe. This album is essentially about our descent into madness and our ultimate salvation through love." Since 2005, Barille and drummer/pianist Sam Meister have been crafting a vision of expansive, technicolor art-rock, receiving critical acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone (named "Band To Watch" in a spotlight review), Pitchfork, NPR, Paste, Esquire, Spin, Magnet, MTV, KEXP, and American Songwriter, among others. Beyond their fully realized sonic presentation, Mr. Gnome has a rich history of producing head-turning DIY visuals, including otherworldly album covers, artistic press photography, and mind-bending short films.
