Ok sorry I’m long overdue for a follow up of these tags I left on your post lol. Here goes: In my brain, the role of a cop is a very masculine one. Like obviously there are female cops but whenever they appear in media ( at the ones I’ve seen) they always are very masculine. So with Hayward whole thing about performing the role of a standard cop I think he was also performing masculinity in a very standard way. His whole arc in season 2 has also been about learning who he is outside of that performance so he I think he can also start to experiment with gender and get silly with it. I think that’d be good for him. maybe this only makes sense to me but thank you for the space to expand upon me ideas.

How do you think the bear timeline works? I thought Carmy was in NY the whole time pre-s1, but then he was in Copenhagen and in 2×06 I don't think he'd been to New York yet (..is that what the conversation w Michelle was about..) idk. I'm making it up in my head as I go along

i'm not sure dude-- tbh part of me is thinking that the writers are winging this part rather than having a fully planned out backstory? there was the slight retcon of only a few people knowing michael was doing drugs this season i think (as shown by 2x06 but i don't 100% remember how it went because i was so stressed), so i think they're mainly focused on the emotive aspects rather than having a timeline that makes 100% sense.. as someone who also is bad with time and cares about the broad strokes of things i don't really mind (i had to fact check a timeline the other day and it was so bad lmao)

i think someone way back in s1 times made a rough timeline of what kind of happened, but they also noted it doesn't quite make sense or something because of michael's death? either way, s2 does throw a few wrenches in guesses for the timeline-- carmy definitely spent some time in copenhagen, at least a few months-- with luca, i think you can connect a few dots to realize the chef luca was talking about was carmy, especially with the photo in chef terry's hallway showing them both being in the kitchen at the same time, which means carmy did spend some time in chicago in fancy restaurants rather than just heading fast to nyc, or maybe moved back and forth. but i doubt that option because donna was like i had to BEG you to come home?

that's a good point about michelle's conversation. it did confuse me a bit because i was going into it thinking that carmy already had a place there. and donna mentioned she had to beg him to come. and carmy was already like 'would it kill you to respond' so i also thought he's already in nyc, but i think it's still a bit inconclusive.... my initial thought was that michelle was offering a place where he could be with others who weren't insane for a bit lol. but idk. if that was what michelle was offering i doubt carmy would've taken her up on it because he's so determined to be so self reliant it's detrimental to himself
