New Fic: Don't Let Me Down (ETN)

Self promotion gives me hives, especially these days, but I need the world to know two very specific things about the fic I'm currently writing.

Firstly, chapter 3 was, hand on heart, the most fun I've had writing in forever. It probably isn't that good because I couldn't bear to remove things that I know make very little sense. This fic should have been split into two stories, but at the time I wrote it I thought I'd never publish it and now it's an overgrown monster and I don't have time to rewrite stuff, ok? But it was really, really satisfying and it's the reason I'm back on my shit, writing fics again.

Secondly, I watched so much GTLive to figure out how to write Matt that I accidentally influenced another person in my household to get an AirUp bottle. As in, Matpat Game Theory's used car salesman pitch was so overplayed, so constant and so annoying that it convinced another human being not obsessed with him to buy his Youtuber ad. I'm not proud, but I am impressed.

Yeah, so here's the thing, summary of fic is below:

AU of Season 3, episode 9. What if Matt was the one put into the Collar of Control instead of Nikita? What if Lucy turned all her sexual frustration on her male captive instead of Mortimer? How would Manny and Joey, who are attracted to the poor Detective, react?

Escape The Night All-Stars would've been so much funnier if instead of Joey being the protagonist, it was just Bretman stuck in purgatory

Like, can you imagine how funny it would be watching poor Bretman try to help out while knowing basically nothing?

Joey, Matt, Nikita and Bretman all go to run into the portal except as soon as Bretman goes through, the portal breaks.

Joey, and Matt are just looking at where the portal was like "Oh shit we just let Bretman get stuck in purgatory with almost no idea what to do."

Nikita is just panicking and pacing around worried that Bretman's gonna do something stupid and get himself killed.

Jael and Ryu just facepalm and kinda just go "Well hopefully he gets the others out." While having 0 faith in him.

Bretman finds all the exhibits and just questions what the hell he's supposed to do and why are 9 of the missing influencers are here.

Also Manny replaces Joey because we were robbed of Manny and Bretman being a badass duo.

Escape the Night Opinions!!!

This is all for fun, and it doesn't really matter at the end of the day. Please don't tear me or others apart for agreeing or disagreeing. This is all light-hearted and for fun!!!

1. Rosanna honestly piggybacked off Mat and Safiya.

2. Mat should have stayed dead. Jc, Roi, or Manny would have been a much better male survivor.

3. Rosanna was not very enjoyable to me in S3 or S4, I just did not like her character at all. Lovely out of EtN, but in EtN not a fan.

4. Mortimer was the worst helper.

6. Roi deserved better. Hardly anybody acknowledged his sacrifice, hardly anybody called him Roi (his name!), and the dude was literally poisoned and having it eat away at him yet still gave it his all.

7. Matt H's grief was valid, and honestly he deserved better than what he got.

8. s4 DeStorm deserved so much better, and should have made it further.

9. Bretman was great, a nice addition to the show, but shouldn't have been in s4. It was an All Star season, and it felt like he was just there.

10. s4 Colleen did not need to survive.

11. There shouldn't be a revival in s5. Revival is great and all, but it basically grants survival. Even if there was revival and the revived guest died, people would just call it a waste. Also, having revival for a third season in a row seems kinda boring. Revival is fun, and should be sprinkled in once in a while!

12. In my eyes, Jc and Safiya both should have survived, they would have been such an amazing duo. I wish there was more content of them, and just more content of Jc in general.

13. Jc is such a great character. He was funny, useful, and was just a silly little guy. He would have been a great addition to later on, probably would calm the tension, gather everybody back to working together.

14. A bonus episode dedicated to character backstories would have been so cool. Especially Calliope, Alison, SAE members, villains. The small flashbacks they get aren't enough.

15. Season 4 had the best trailer, Season 3 had the best cast, Season 1 had the best Era and outfits, Season 2 had the best villains, Season's 2 and 3 both had the best locations.

16. There should be a season where there are 3 survivors, but Joey isn't one of them. Guest or helper! Not saying Joey should die again, maybe have him like get trapped or something.

17. Eva, Oli, Andrea, and Tyler should come back in a cameo. It'd be really cool to see past survivors and how their lives are now.

18. Let a helper survive! It'd be cool to imagine them like having to go into the modern world!

Safiya Nygaard x reader hcs:

• When everyone first realizes that this mission in the 70s was basically a suicide mission, Safiya swore to you that she would do anything to get you both out of that town alive.

• During the voting, if there was ever any inkling of people voting for you, she would ask to be voted in instead. People never really agreed with this as Safiya was the person who pulled her weight the most, but she wouldn't give up on trying to sway them out of voting for you.

• During the "The Man with No Name" challenge, you and Safiya got picked into different groups. Safiya being on Team Teala and you on Team Manny. During the challenge, every time after her team figured out a clue and found a finger, she would shout over to you and try to help you with your clues if she saw you were struggling.

• If you died during a challenge before finding both Lazarus coins, she focused on finding them as you had found the first one and really wanted to complete that side mission. She would do it for you. Once they figured out the Lazarus coins led to the harp, which could bring someone back, she would use it to bring you back, no question asked.

• if you didn't die before finding the Lazarus coins, you would try your hardest to find them and figure out that side mission, Safiya would help you out, and as you find them both with her help the two of you would choose who to bring back together. Though Safiya would let you have the last say.

• During the fun house challenge, you were cuddling with Safiya on the couch taking a breather, while Manny and Nakita were doing the challenge. You both knew this whole thing was almost over, and you were glad you were both still alive and hoped it remained that way.

• When Willie comes into the room all of a sudden and goes straight for Safiya, your heart sinks. You try your hardest to put yourself in front of her, but she she pushes you away while also trying to run away from Willie. Unfortunately, he got to her, and the next second, she was dead. You fell down to your knees beside her, hugging her body to yours sobbing and begging her to come back. Rosanna hugged you from behind, silent tears going down her face.

• Once Nikita and Many came back and explained that whoever voted for the winner, which was Nikita, had to be killed by Willie you went ballistic on her, trying to get to her screaming how this was her fault. Joey, Rosanna and Matt tried to hold you back while Manny held Nakita back who did not appreciate you blaming her. After a bit of them holding you back you broke down again into Ro's arms asking over and over again "why ? why her ?"

• After you calmed down you realized crying and being miserable at this moment wasn't gonna get you out of this town. So you promised yourself you were gonna do everything to escape, for her, for Safiya and that you did.

Has anyone else noticed that during the Strong Man's challenge, right as Matt gets grabbed by the Strong Man, there's a split-second where you can see Joey reaching out for him?

There it is, the Savant's arm outstretched, reaching towards Matt as Matt's dragged away. Even after Matt's vicious attitude towards Joey before the challenge, Joey still reaches for him in what he and Matt both think are Matt's last moments alive. He turns to look at Manny a moment later, true, but at first...it feels like he's only seeing Matt.

Hey everyone, I've got some interesting news! Starting today, we're gonna be hosting a holiday event! I'm calling it The Twelve Days of Ask-Edd!

So from today until the 25th, we'll be passing the blog around to a few of our friends and letting them take over for the day. So for today, it's just me, Matt, Tom, and Tord, and then tomorrow it'll be a whole new set of friends!

Escape The Night: The Christmas Special

"I just wanna welcome you to Christmas

Let me sneak into your speakers, listen

I'll be singing, "Oh, oh, oh, oh""

An alternate universe where all the escape the night Youtubers are alive and happy and spending christmas together and nothing bad ever happens to them

• Ro buys Christmas cards for everyone's gifts and write sweet notes in them to everyone like a sweet little cinnamon roll she is

• JC, Roi, Teala, Manny and Nikita sneak out when everyone is asleep to make cookies and do face masks and watch Christmas movies on Netflix

• Nikita puts mistletoe all over the house, no one is safe

• The Youtubers have cameras to take pictures and videos

• Tyler Eva and Matt up at night SCREAMING the words to every Christmas song on the playlist while Rosanna is recording and laughing

• When they all go to the carnival, Matt and Nikita both see a huge plush reindeer at one of the carnival games and immediately start competing for it then Rosanna beats them both

• All the ETN girls get reindeer headbands and take selfies

• Ro gets so tired one day from Christmas shopping and Matt notices this, gently picks her up and sets her on the bed, and sets down a bag with a pair of pajama pants, throw blankets, hot cocoa mix, their favorite Christmas movies and chocolate chip cookie dough he literally would not care how late it was he just can't stand seeing his little sister sad he thinks about how precious she looks in the pajamas snuggled up under the blankets and he just wanted to hug her so tight he just loves her so much

• Matt, Ro and Safiya all share a room in the house

• One night Matt, Ro and Safiya are watching the Polar Express and halfway through the movie Ro just starts crying right in the middle of the "When Christmas Comes to Town" scene and Matt and Safiya get super worried, turn off the movie and they all end up sleeping on the couch

• One day Ro and Nikita are in the snow and Safiya and Matt are worried that she'll get a cold but Nikita keeps assuring them she'll be fine

• "Guys, calm down, Ro's just fine"

• Ro ended up getting a cold the next day and Matt goes off the second he sees her temperature

• "YOU TOLD US RO WAS JUST FINE!"

• Matt has a picture of Ro from one time when she was taking a nap on the couch in a fluffy reindeer blanket and he sends the picture to Safiya and they're both gushing over how adorable she is

• Ro's massive guilty pleasure is Hallmark Christmas movies, and one day Matt and Bretman saw her watching one and now they're obsessed

• Nikita would never in a billion years admit this out loud, but she loves Matt so much, she has a picture of when they were taking a nap while wrapping presents and she never got rid of it or burned it

• Joey finds a massive Christmas festival in the town of Everlock with games, concessions and a photo booth for him and all of his friends to go to

• Ro stays up super late wrapping Christmas presents

• Joey tries to get Matt and Ro under the mistletoe because he ships them like FedEx (YES)

• Joey and Liza being massive shippers, Liza's OTP is Bretman and Alex (YES) and Joey's OTP is Ro and Matt (YES)

• Joey: "OH COME ON THEY'RE SO CUTE TOGETHER"

• Ro insists on buying toys to donate to charities (She's an angel, of course she's doing that)

• Matt and Nikita remain competitive, no matter what they're doing (wrapping presents, making gingerbread houses, getting gifts for their friends, EVERYTHING, they're in a never ending competition on who's the better survivor)

I have a solid theory as to who will be in the Escape the Night Season 5 cast.

Also, spoiler alert for those who haven’t seen seasons 1-4.

Ok, so my theory is that the souls in the Jar of Souls are going to be the Season 5 cast. And the people from the jar are going to save Joey from Pandora’s Box.

Now, we know of 6 people in the jar of souls.

Liza Koshy, who was literally put there in Episode 1 of Season 4.

Shane Dawson, LaurDiy, Jesse Wellens, Manny MUA, and Safiya Nygaard.

Now, I’m really excited because those are some of my favorite characters.

I’m assuming Joey will also be in it because, you know, it’s literally his show.

But, each season has 10-11 people including Joey. so that means that there are probably 3-4 more souls in the Jar.

There is also a chance that the 3-4 people will include Bretman, Colleen, Nikita, and Mat. But I’m hoping that they’re just the SAE members who help the YouTubers with their journey.

Also I’m pretty sure that there are only going to be 10 people, since literally every season (except for S1) has 10 people.

So who are the other three souls in the jar?

It honestly could be anyone who fits this criteria:

A: Isn’t a survivor

B: Didn’t die in Season 4.

This list includes Andrea B, GloZell, Sierra, Matt H, Lele, JC, Roi, and Teala.

Really it could be any of those people, but when I looked at statistics from season 4, how many dudes and girls are in each season, times of death, and a few other factors, I got a pretty good idea of the three other souls in the jar.

So every single season has an almost equal amount of dudes and gals, counting Joey (Season 1 has 6 girls and 5 dudes, every other season has 5 and 5.)

Assuming Season 5 will be the same, then the three unknown souls in the jar are one dude and two girls, since we already have Liza, Jesse, Lauren, Manny, Saf, and Shane (3 and 3)

If Joey counts, which I’m sure he does since it’s his show, that’s 4 guys and 3 girls.

So we’re looking for 1 guy and 2 girls.

Now I started looking at Time of Death in the season, or TOD, to see if it had any connection.

Season 4 had characters who were previously dead. Their previous deaths accounted as 2 early deaths (Justine, DeStorm) 2 mid deaths (Tana, Colleen) and 4 late deaths (Tim, Alex, Ro, and Gabbie)

Now, the confirmed souls already have three early deaths (Lauren, Jesse, and Shane), one mid-season death (Liza) and two late deaths (Manny and Saf)

I’m assuming that there could be 0-1 early death people, 1-3 mid-season death people, and 1-2 late death people based on statistics.

The question is, who are these people?

Well, we can rule out Andrea, JC, and Roi. I just don’t think that there would be that many early deaths. Being said, Teala is an early/mid death, so I’m not going to rule her out.

None of the mid-season deaths can be ruled out because there could be up to three of them.

Finally, we have Lele. Lele is the ONLY late death. Which means that, surprise surprise, she’s one of the three souls! A lot of people wanted her back last season so it would be a smart move on the ETN production people (is that a thing?) to put her back in. Also, she was one of the people on the gem in season 3, so I feel like they always meant to bring her back eventually.

Now we have three late deaths. I think it’s safe to assume that there will also be three mid-season deaths and three early deaths.

There are already three early deaths, which brings us to the mid deaths. The last category.

And I was super excited when I figured this one out.

So, we need a dude. Only one. And guess what? There’s only one option left.

ITS MY BOY MATT!

I was rooting for him throughout this whole thing I did, and when I finally figured out that he is one of the most probable options, I was STOKED. I’m aware that everyone hates him, but I don’t, so I’m happy.

We’re down to the final soul. I was confident in my first answer, but now that I rethink it, it could be one of two girls.

So lastly is GloZell, Sierra, and Teala.

Season 4 had two people from season 1, four people from season 2, and two people from season 3.

The jar of souls currently has three people from season 1, three people from season 2, and two people from season 3.

Now, this could go one of three ways.

GloZell comes back and gets revenge on Joey.

Sierra comes back and cures Matt’s depression.

Teala comes back and... does Teala things?

I don’t think GloZell will be one of the people to rescue Joey from Pandora’s Box. He literally killed her and she definitely wouldn’t help the group save him.

So that leaves it to Sierra and Teala.

I feel like if Sierra comes back, Matt also has to be there, because she’s literally most remembered for being killed by him during the exorcism.

And if there is actually a fourth unknown soul in the jar, which there may be, since Joey is trapped and may not be a part of the group next season, then that changes everything. Andrea, JC, and Roi could even be the fourth soul if it exists. But I think that since Joey stars in the show, that he will be a part of the group.

I truly think that it could be either Teala or Sierra. If they have the same amount of people from each season, then it would be Teala. If they double the season 1 number from Season 4, then it would be Sierra.

But hey, that’s just a theory.

A theory that took me way too long to research and make.

(Ha, you thought I was gonna say film theory. I didn’t.)

TL;DR: Matt is my favorite and I’m pretty sure he’s one of the unkown souls in the jar of souls, as is Lele, and maybe Sierra or Teala. And the people in the Jar of Souls may be the Season 5 cast.
