I'm so glad I have pictures of me wearing this back in the day! I loved this shirt but somehow lost it over the years (I was 15 in the picture and now I'm 35). Then I found it on Mercari and immediately bought it and now I have it again! I have so many good memories attached to this shirt.

11. anything from your childhood you’ve held on to? ive lost almost everything from my childhood but i have this one shirt. its tie-dye, its from joes crab shack, its from probably like 2004 and its fit me my entire life, through these massive weight fluctuations, even when i was pregnant. so ill let go of this ratty ass shirt until i die probably

My therapist believes that a lot of things express/relate to other things, like he said he once had a patient that dyed their hair half black and half white when they were struggling w bipolar disorder, and they didn't notice the irony there until he pointed it out later

I saw him today, and at the end of my visit he was like 'It's ironic that you found some inner peace today, and wore a t-shirt with a big peace sign on it'. I didn't know how to tell him that this is just my favorite t-shirt bc it says 'JOE'S CRAB SHACK' on the back. Also, it is full of holes. It's hardly symbolic of what I hoped to gain in therapy- it's just comforting when I'm stressed af. Just like the cookie monster pajama pants I wore w it.

((This WIP challenge post! I’m probably posting two of these today because I meant to post one yesterday and didn’t.

Second “fic” today from the random draw is #15: Beach City Accessibility Audit but it’s permanent this time

That’s not actually a WIP! Not in the traditional sense!!

A bit into writing my Realism fic (a fic in which Steven faces sudden physical disability (an amputation) after Change Your Mind), I realized I needed to figure out logistically what Steven could easily access in the community and what he couldn’t, especially at the start when he is using a wheelchair full time upon arriving home.

So I audited Beach City’s accessibility as thoroughly as I could manage, using a lens specific to what I needed to look for regarding Steven in Realism specifically.

Except that I did it by liveblogging it on a Discord server, one which later shut down AFAICT, which means I lost the whole thing.

For a bit after that I worked off my mind but I wanted to get it back down “on paper” as it were, so I did it again recently, in a document. This time I even included a few notes on visual accessibility because Just a Little Something Else Instead (which is blindness-related) was on my mind, even though the priority was Realism-related.

...I’m not sharing a snippet. I’m sharing the entire current draft. You can read the accessibility audit in its current form at this link. (It may be possible this link will go private if I decide to significantly change the document down the road, or if it starts getting spammed in some manner. But for now it’s public! I might also remove the link from this post if it makes Tumblr’s tag system mad for some reason. DX No point in sharing a doc for no one to see it.)

🍎: what are y'alls favorite foods?

reaching back in here for answers because most of us don't eat in the headspace so we'll forget to irl, but the ones who DO i'm not 100% on favorites. besides mako

mako tells anybody and everybody about joes crab shack's crab dip. the only times whip's eaten while out has been ice cream, favorite flavor is this purple dragon dream mess we got at the store forever ago. nebby's a cake fan but can't decide whether they prefer lemon pound or dark chocolate. i (julian) don't consider myself to have a solid favorite, but our mom made us a banger grilled cheese the other day

👹: how many non-human members are there?

aside from me :) we have quite a few actually... nebby considers themself human-passing, whip's supposed to be part sheep even though the only resemblance is the horns now.. hal flips between his canon appearance and human one so i consider that nonhuman. lol

for non-human passing, we have a HANDFUL... 🕸, 📝, and 🐺 are vaguely lizard shaped, 🌊 and 💿 are robots, and 🏈 and 🌼 are ALWAYS their canon selves. OH and 🎪 is literally just a bunch of shapes

👠: how difficult is it for y'all to agree on one cohesive outfit?

not very?? if it's one person fronting they just pick whatever, if anyone's cofronting from what i understand they just wear whatever either party feels strongest about wearing. probably helps that most every article of clothing is considered "mako's" so cycling through those until specific people's shirts are clean means less arguing. hehe

As a former Joe’s Crab Shack employee, I have just a few things to say:

All of their seafood initially comes frozen, including the crab.

Their “lobster” is literally the size of a newborn’s foot, so don’t even bother.

Joel was NOT dressed to code and would’ve been sent home to change immediately (jeans aren’t dark enough, AND shirt not tucked in with a belt? Also where’s your apron? Nice try!).

Contrary to popular belief, you SHOULD actually go for the desserts because they’re inexplicably good (the Crabby Apple Crumble is the best one though, not the Key Lime Pie).

I knew Red Lobster would win before the game even started.
