You spotted Ethan from across the room while he talked Mark and his girlfriend. He felt your eyes on him which caused him to look over to meet your gaze. The two of you smiled at each other softly when you locked eyes.

His smile caused butterflies to swarm your stomach. He was so perfect. He’s yours, and you were his.

“Hello?” Luke waved his hand in front of your face. You looked back at Luke and furrowed your eyebrows. “Earth to Y/N? What should I do?”

You hadn’t realized you zoned out for the entirety of your brother’s conversation. You asked, “Could you explain that again but slower this time?”

He sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “Jocelyn. We’re talking about Jocelyn. What should I do?”

Jocelyn was a family friend of yours growing up. Luke always had a huge crush on her and now he was ready to confess to her. You frowned, “Luke. You just need to be straight forward. Go find her and tell her how you feel.”

He nodded his head, “I’ll try, I guess.”

You smiled softly as you watched Luke walk off. You felt someone place their hand on your shoulder. You spin your head around just to see that Ethan was standing behind you. “Jesus…” you gasped. “Baby, you scared the shit out of me.”

He frowned, “Sorry. I was waiting til Luke walked away. I was just wondering if you wanted to head upstairs.”

The two of you weren’t allowed to be seen together, which is why you guys always snuck off to his room. You nodded your head, “Yeah.” He grabbed your hand and led you through the crowd and up the stairs to his bedroom.

You entered his bedroom and sat down on his bed. Ethan shut the door behind him and locked it. You knew exactly what that meant. He went over to you and tilted your chin up to look at him. You smiled before he leaned down and kissed you.

His lips were warm and soft against yours. The taste of beer lingered off his lips. You felt your heart flutter as your insides felt warm and tingly. He pulled away after a minute and stared into your eyes. His thumb ran up and down along your jaw. You blushed softly. “What was that for?” You whispered.

He chuckled, “Well, you just looked so pretty tonight. I haven’t been able to keep my eyes off you.”

You pouted, “Stop teasing me.” You leaned back as he climbed on top of you. He locked his lips with yours again, the kiss becoming more passionate and heated. He moved one of his hands under your shirt, rubbing circles on your breasts. You moaned slightly. You were so sensitive to his touch.

Ethan broke away and rested his forehead against yours. You let go of him as he stood back up. You watched as he stripped his shirt off, you followed after him by taking yours off. He laid back on top of you again and went straight to kissing your neck. “No hickeys,” you said to him.

The last thing you needed was for people to find out about you and Ethan, especially Luke. He’s very protective over you since you’re his baby sister. He didn’t want you getting hurt, especially by his best friend. You did your best to stay away from him, but Ethan’s too irresistible. That’s why you two were secretly dating. It would also stop your brother from worrying about you. If you got hickeys, then you and Ethan’s secret would've been revealed.

Ethan placed soft kisses on your neck, causing you to moan quietly.  He moved his mouth down to your collarbone and bit it lightly. Your breath caught in your throat.

“Does that feel good?” He murmured into your skin before sucking it gently. You whimpered at the new sensation before nodding your head.

Ethan continued to kiss all over your body and it became harder for you to breathe. “Just fuck me already,” you whined. As much as you enjoyed making out with Ethan, you wanted this to go faster.

He moved back from you and unbuckled his belt. You scooted back to the headboard and took your shorts and panties off. He climbed back on top of you and aligned himself with your entrance.

He slid inside of you causing a loud gasp to escape your throat. You were already wet due to his teasing which made the insertion easier for both of you.

Once both of you adjusted to the position, Ethan slowly thrust himself into you. You gasped at the initial pain, but soon adjusted. You gripped onto the sheets tightly as Ethan hit your clit multiple times, making you scream underneath him.

Soon you felt yourself reach the peak of your orgasm and release everything you held in. He followed shortly after. You both collapsed next to each other in exhaustion. You stared up at the ceiling. “When are we going to tell Luke about us?” Ethan asked.

He nodded, “Yeah, definitely.” His smile grew wider and you rolled your eyes, letting out a soft giggle. You placed a brief kiss on his cheek before getting out of bed.

You put your stuff back on and looked back at Ethan. “I’m gonna get another drink. You want anything?”

He shook his head, “Nah. Just come back quick, I wanna go again.”

Chapter 6- Do They Deserve a Chance?

Warnings: None

You’re barely awake when you hear your phone vibrate. The light of your phone is bright and you squint, reading the notification.

Edward: Do you want to go to the pet store with me?

You rub your eyes and yawn, trying to remember how to put words together. Normally you prefer to sleep in on the weekends but it seems like that won’t be the case today. Amaia had invited you to lunch with her, Olivia, Jocelyn, and Estelle but you’d take any chance to hang out with Edward.

Y/N: I’m going to lunch with some people but we can go after

Edward: That works.

You and Edward decide that he will pick you up from the restaurant and go to the pet store from there.

Y/N: Why do you want to go btw?

Edward: I need to look at cages.

Not bothering to ask any more questions, you get up and take a shower. The warm water helps you wake up and you get dressed, making a cup of coffee and sitting down to watch TV until Olivia picks you up.

Eventually, Olivia arrives and brings you to the restaurant where the other girls are already there. The normal anxiety fills you but you try to suppress it. It’s the same as when you went out with them that one Friday, but this time you don’t have alcohol to calm your nerves. Praying that you’ll be able to relax eventually, you coach yourself through your reactions and participation in the conversation.

Luckily you are able to calm yourself and before you know it, Edward sends you a text saying he was there. You had mentioned hanging out with Edward after lunch, and of course, Olivia teased you for it. The girls all agreed with Olivia, insisting that Edward definitely had feelings for you. You just laughed nervously when they said that, quickly changing the subject.

Saying goodbye to everyone, you step outside and see Edward parked by the door. He waves to you and you get in his car, beginning the usual “how are you” conversation.

Edward still doesn’t address the conversation from Monday, but you don’t mind. You’re not sure what you would even say if he did. Instead, you settle into talking about work with him, discussing what he’s been doing and complaining about your shitty boss. Finally, you reach the pet store and you’re a bit excited. It had been a while since you had been in one and you want to see the critters they have. You quickly walk inside, Edward following. The first thing you do is make a beeline to where the animals are, looking at all the hamsters. 

“I feel so bad for all the animals locked up in here. Bred to live in cages, to sit pretty until they get adopted or die. They never had a chance.” You say sadly, looking at the ferrets.

“Do they deserve a chance?” Edward asks quietly.

“Of course they do.” You turn to him, confused. “Everyone deserves a chance. You, me, every living thing on this earth deserves it. Whether or not they get a chance isn’t up to us, but I think everyone should.” 

Edward looks a little sad at that. You can see tears forming in his eyes but he coughs and abruptly walks away before you can say anything further. You’re a bit concerned but brush it off and make your way to the cat room. 

What feels like a few minutes but was probably closer to half an hour later, you hear footsteps behind you.

“You ready to-“ Edward is cut off when he sees you kneeling on the floor, sobbing.

“Wh- are you okay? Y/N?” Edward squats down and touches your shoulder.

“They are just so so perfect. They are babies and did nothing wrong. They deserve good homes and good food and good people…I just want them to be happy.” You blubber, feeling overwhelmed. Edward looks stunned, opening his mouth to say something but changes his mind. Instead, he sits next to you on the floor and you bury your head into his shoulder, still crying. You sit like that for a minute before managing to stop your sobs and standing up. You offer a hand to Edward, who accepts it and you pull him up.

“Are you alright?” He says, gently placing a hand on your shoulder.

“Yeah, sorry about that. My cat died a couple months ago so I’m a bit sensitive about animals. I still have all his old stuff in the back of my closet.” You say, wiping the tears from your face.

“I’m so sorry Y/N,” Edwards says and you nod. 

“Thank you. Are you ready to go?” You ask.

“Yeah, if you are,” Edward says and you nod, leading the way to the exit and walking to Edward’s car.

Edward’s phone connects to the radio and he starts talking excitedly about the first song that plays, explaining the meaning and the history of the band. You’re genuinely interested in what he’s saying, listening attentively and reacting in real-time, unlike many other conversations with other people. After Edward’s done explaining, you sit in silence for a little bit, fidgeting with your hands in your lap. You start to yawn and bring one hand up to cover your mouth, conveniently right as Edward was reaching for it. Instead, his hand falls on your thigh and when you look over at him, he looks embarrassed. For a second it seems like he is going to pull it away but commits to the action and ever so slightly tightens his grasp. 

“Oh, I forgot to ask if you want me to drop you off.” Edward says after a while, breaking the silence.

“I mean we can hang out longer if you want.” You say, hoping he does.

“Sure, we can watch a movie at my apartment or something.” 

“Sounds good.”

Eventually, you pull into his apartment complex and make your way up to his apartment, glad that the second time you’re here you’re not incredibly intoxicated. Edward unlocks the door and leads you in, noticing that it’s a bit messier than last time.

“Oh, sorry. I forgot to clean up.” Edward winces a bit and you just shake your head.

“Nah, I totally get it. I need to clean too.” Edward seems a bit comforted at the statement and you take a seat on the couch. It takes both of you a minute to decide what movie to watch, but  eventually settle on an old sci-fi movie.

“Do you always keep it this cold, Edward?” You ask after a few minutes, wrapping the blanket around yourself.

“Oh, I forgot to pay my heating bill. It has been quite cold, I’m sorry.”

“I’m more concerned about you, aren’t you cold?”

“A little. It’s fine though.” Edward shrugs. You pull the blanket off one shoulder and hold an arm out, offering some to Edward. He starts to say no when you raise your eyebrows, silently insisting. He sighs and scoots closer to you, letting you lay the blanket across his shoulders.

“Thanks, Y/N.” He says, pulling it further around him. You smile at him and turn back to the TV. 

A little bit of time passes and you decide to lay your head on Edward’s shoulder. Despite never having done it before, the movement feels so natural. Edward tenses a little at the sudden contact but doesn’t react otherwise. After a few seconds, his hand slowly reaches over to grab yours. His movement is hesitant so you take action and slide your hand into his. 

The rest of the movie continues and you’re fighting sleep most of the time. Edward is so warm and you could feel your eyes fluttering shut, but before you actually fall asleep Edward speaks.

“That was a good movie.” He comments. You didn’t even realize that the movie ended but raise your head up, trying to blink away the sleepiness.

“Yeah, I liked it.” You turn to Edward and smile, seeing his face flush a little bit. You squeeze his hand once before letting go and stretching your arms out. The blanket slips off as you do and the cold air immediately hits, causing goosebumps. Quickly pulling the blanket back around your self, you cuddle up next to Edward.

“Dude, it’s so cold. How do you handle this?”

“I just wear a lot of layers.” He says, slowly reaching his arm around your shoulder. You try and gather as much of his warmth as possible before your eyelids become heavy again.

“Ugh, I should probably leave soon. I’m about to fall asleep.” You say, pulling away from Edward and starting to take off the blanket before he stops you.

“Stay here, I’ll get you a jacket.” He stands up and wraps the blanket around you, disappearing into his room and coming back with a black hoodie. You gladly put it on and are immediately surrounded by the smell of Edward’s cologne. Finally dragging yourself off the couch and putting your shoes on, Edward is waiting at the door. 

You make your way outside and in Edward’s car, where it is a bit cold but not nearly as much as it was in his apartment. As he pulls out of his parking lot, you reach your hand out and he gladly takes it. The action has become so familiar but the butterflies in your stomach never seem to disappear.

“Here, let me-” When Edward pulls up to the front of your apartment complex, you start to take off his sweatshirt but he stops you.

“That’s alright, you keep it.” 

“Oh, okay.” You say, surprised. Unbuckling your seatbelt and opening the door, you smile and wave to Edward before turning and going into your apartment. 

Today was so much better than you could have expected, every day with Edward feels more unreal. You’re too nervous to really make a move, for no real reason, as Edward has been reciprocating all of your actions. Something still holds you back, but you hope you will get the chance to at least say something soon.

The relationship throughout the last bit of the 19th century and well into the 21st century was full of changes into the dynamic of these two noble houses.

In 1882, the House of Alderly, having been made royal via Princess Augusta, set their eyes on Lady Primrose Gray for a possible prospect for the only heir to the estate, Henry. Though this engagement never came to pass, but both heirs became bestest of friends and remained close for the rest of their lives.

In the first half of the 20th century, both of them decided to solidify this alliance by marrying Primrose's most beautiful daughter to Henry's only son and heir, Edward, thus uniting both houses forever. They had a loving relationship and were beloved by the people.

In the 21st century, though both houses remained friendly, Lady Diana became infatuated with Quentin, who sadly did not reciprocate. An argument revealed such feelings and someone in their circle betrayed them, twisting Diana's intentions towards Quincey and making of such feelings a scandal of an England who held under scrutiny the houses and monarchy. It didn't help that Quincey saw himself in another scandal some time later by having his homosexuality revealed and his anti-monarchy sentiments. Things would remain tense for ten years, after Diana and Quincey repaired their relationship and started anew.

The relationship between these women and these men has been diverse, complex and compelling to many. One can't deny the charm of these blond-haired men with a rebel spirit and the black-haired and dutiful ladies with a strong personality.

synopsis: it’s the 4th of july and you and your brothers decide to throw a party at your parents’ house

warnings: fluff, ethan being adorable, luke being a protective brother

a/n: HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!! and if u don’t celebrate it then happy tuesday!! this is a 4th of july themed fluff fic, so i hope u all enjoy!!

The whole backyard was decked with red, white, and blue decorations for the 4th of July. Jack, Luke, Quinn, and you decided to throw a party at your parents’ lake house. Luke invited his best friends from the hockey team while you invited your closest sorority. There were a couple more people there including Jack and Quinn’s friends.

A while back, you and Ethan had finally become public with your relationship which meant you guys told Luke about it. He was a little upset since you went against his words, but he was overall supportive.

Trevor had been grilling all day while everyone hung out around the lake. You rested on a pool-like chair with Ethan, his arms wrapped around you tightly. Luke flirted with your guys’ friend, Jocelyn, which caused you to laugh. “Looks like he's having fun,” you said while looking up at Ethan.

He opened his eyes and he looked over at the two of them, letting out a snicker of his own. “Sure looks like it.” He looked down at you and smiled softly. “What about you? You having fun?”

“Yeah, of course I am!” you beamed. “I’m here with you and my brothers. That's all I could ask for.” A warm smile spread on his face at your answer, before he placed a quick kiss on your forehead.

The intimate moment was ruined by Mark spraying Ethan with a water gun. The cold water hit you as well, causing you to yelp as you sprung up from the chair. Ethan also got up and glared at Mark before a devilish smile spread on his face. He looked over and saw water balloons in a bucket close by, so he lunged for them and started throwing them at Mark.

The two boys broke out into battle while you laughed as you fled from the scene. You made your way up the stairs to the deck. You were greeted by Trevor, Jack, and Cole as they sat at a table near the backdoor.

Trevor was the first one to notice you walk over since he faced your direction. “Hey, Y/N!” He looked down at your wet shirt and started laughing. “What happened to you?”

You laughed as you took a seat next to Cole, sitting across from your brother. “Well, Mark sprayed Ethan and I with a water gun. Now, they’re out there being children.”

Jack looked over in that direction and smiled widely. “Oh shit, Luke’s getting in on it!” You flung your head in that direction and watched as Luke sprayed the boys with water guns. You laughed loudly along with Jack and the guys before bringing your attention back.

Cole then smiled at you and tilted his head, “How are you and Ethan doing? I’ve heard a lot from Jack.”

You smiled a bit and nodded your head. “We’re doing great! I mean, it’s really only been looking up since we became public.” You looked back over at the boy you loved dearly. He had a radiant smile on his face and his nose scrunched slightly.

You felt your stomach flip as you admired him from afar. You ran your fingers through your hair as you looked back at Cole. “Is Luke handling it well?” Trevor asked. “You know how he is.”

You let out a giggle at the male’s comment, “Yeah. He’s handling it the best he can.” You looked back at Luke and watched as he playfully fought with Ethan. “He’s still friends with him, which that’s always good.”

Jack laughed, “I’m surprised. Luke’s usually pissed when you do things he asks you specifically not to.”

“Maybe it’s because of Jocelyn,” you suggested. “He’s been more lenient ever since he got with her.” This caused the guys to laugh at the table. You smiled as you looked back at the boys.

Ethan then noticed you watching him from the deck and waved you over. “Y/N! Come on!” he yelled out to you. “Grab the biggest water gun!”

You looked back at the three boys and got up from your seat. “I’ll be back!” you giggled as you ran down the stairs, grabbing the biggest water gun you could find.

You sat on the stairs leading up to the deck with Ethan as you stared up at the starry night. The fireworks were about to start going off and you two found the perfect spot.

You rested your head on his shoulder as he snaked his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him. He rested his head atop of yours and whispered, “I love you so much, Y/N.”

“I love you too, Ethan.” You felt warm and tingly every time you were around him. It didn’t matter how long you guys had been together, you still felt as giddy as you did the first time you saw him.

You then heard footsteps behind you. “Ahem,” a voice cleared their throat. You looked back and saw Luke standing at the top of the stairs. “You guys are too close.”

You rolled your eyes and scooted away from Ethan. “Why do you have to be an overprotective brother now?”

He crossed his arms over his chest and huffed, “Because you’re dating my best friend.” He then looked over at Ethan. “You guys are cute by the way…” he mumbled.

You grinned, “What was that?”

“I said ‘you guys are cute by the way’,” he said louder.

You smiled warmly and got up, rushing up the stairs and hugging him. “I love you, Lukey!” You let go of him and playfully punched his shoulder. “Now, go find Jocelyn and kiss her under the fireworks!”

He rolled his eyes and scoffed, “Yeah, yeah. Whatever.” You couldn’t help but notice the small smile that formed on his face due to your comment. You squeezed his cheek and made your way back down to your spot next to Ethan.

The first firework set off into the sky, creating a beautiful view in front of you two. You smiled widely as you looked over at Ethan. He looked back at you and placed his hand on your cheek. He pulled you in for a kiss, your eyes fluttering shut as they made contact with his.
