A couple of items I got at my thrift store over the weekend.
4 movies
2 figures
1 game
Starting with the movies, I picked up A Bug's Life, Shark Tale, Psycho, and 9. I've never seen the last two before, so this is how I will watch them for the first time. I actually watched Psycho last night, it really set the mood for the spooky month. 9 was a movie I've been meaning to watch for a long time, but I never got around to it for whatever reason. Shark Tale I already owned on DVD, except I had the dreaded fullscreen version, so I replaced it with this Widescreen one. A Bug's Life is one of my favorite Pixar movies, and owning this collector's edition DVD feels strangely special to me. These early DVDs will always feel more premium than any newly released DVD.
The one game I bought, LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy on PSP. One of the three LEGO games on PSP actually worth getting since the ones that came after them were merely just ports of the crappier DS versions. As great as this game is, it's a real shame the PSP never got the Complete Saga. I think the most fascinating thing about this game is the release date (insert "mark this day in the history books" meme).
Last, but certainly not least, are these incredible Sonic & Shadow figures for the upcoming Sonic 3 movie. I've been wanting to get my hands on these for a short while now, and now that I have them, I can say that these look incredible. The Sonic 2 figures already looked great, but these are a huge step up! They really upped the articulation too, while it is cool, it kind of brings back horrible memories of Jazwares Sonic figures and their joints constantly breaking. But I'm pretty sure these are much better quality than those figures, so I'm not too worried about it.
Anyway, that's all I have to share. Time for me to go eat Kraft Dinnah to calm my nerves!

I finally got my hands on this incredible Neo Metal Sonic figure from Jakks Pacific!
It brings me so much unfiltered joy that one of my all-time favorite games has been represented in figure form (in addition to pretty much the entire game's cast for the first time).

It bothers me to no end that there's no convenient way to organize all my posts with different pages, as far as I'm aware at least.
So until I can figure out how to do that, I'm gonna keep using specific tags to help organize everything on my end, so this one will go under "miscellaneous" for example.

To anyone that follows me on Instagram, don’t be alarmed by this post.
I’m actually considering migrating here as my new primary social platform. The main reason being Instagram using people’s posts and works to train its AI, and unfortunately, there is currently no way to opt out of it (Unless you live in Europe, which I do not).
The reason why I say not to be alarmed is because I’ll still be posting on IG, since there are still my close friends and some amazing people I follow there that don’t have a Tumblr (as far as I know at least). And of course I will keep posting there, even if it means my work ends up getting stolen and repackaged into soulless “”””art.””””
This will also mean I’m gonna start taking commissions here as soon as everything checks out.
It’s really upsetting to me that more and more art platforms are either disappearing from the internet, or have gone to complete shit with supporting AI art and NFT cryptocurrency, like what happened to Deviantart, a website I used to be super active in until the dreaded Eclipse update was launched.
This is just a thought I had in mind for a few days so I may or may not end up changing my mind. I swear if I had the skills and money to build a website, I’d make a dedicated art website with full profile customization.

For a couple of weeks, I have been learning how to sew by hand, and my first project was making some small jackets for these two plushes. Based off some artwork I’ve made in the past. I’m really proud of how these turned out, though I feel like I could’ve made them a little wider, so I might redo them in the future.

Got a few neat items in the mail and thought I’d showcase what they are.
First up the two Sonic figures, a Funko Pop and a Nenderoid. I was able to find the Nenderoid for less than $100 on Mercari Japan, and thankfully it’s not a bootleg! Sonic’s spikes are nice and sharp, and the box uses circular stickers. Whereas fake ones have softer spikes and use regular scotch tape. The Funko Pop was one I’ve been meaning to grab, but I’ve been holding back until a hypothetical PaRappa Funko Pop would emerge, but that sadly has yet to happen (Guess Funko doesn’t like money). I know some people don’t like the Pop line of figures and their dead soulless eyes, I totally get it, some of them do look pretty bad (they did Buzz Lightyear dirty), but I think they have a certain charm to them.
Next are these two Lammy & Rammy Medicom dolls, these have been on my want list for years, but for whatever reason I never got around to buying them… until now! I do have PaRappa, Sunny, and Lammy’s on stage variant so with these two, my Medicom doll set is finally complete with all 5 figures.
Above it is a Coca-Cola handbag, I have the hand towel on me, so I’m still on the lookout for any other PaRappa x Coca-Cola items if there are any left. One of my goals is that if the World of Coca-Cola isn’t carrying any PaRappa items in their upcoming pop culture gallery, I might try and get my hands on a second one of these for the purpose of donating to them (if they take donations that is).
And right below are three rotating figures of Sunny, Pinto and PJ. There is also Uee which I have seen but never bought sadly. And going off the box, I’m pretty sure there might also be a Boxy Boy since the other five characters are also there. With these I can actually demonstrate how they work, basically you connect the characters together and you spin the gear on one of them, and they all start rotating and hopping. Sort of reminds me of how that Simpsons couch Burger King set works.
Lastly, here’s another one I’ve always wanted, a Dunkin’ Donuts PaRappa mug. I actually won two at an auction and currently placing a bid on the third, but so far Katy is the one that’s arrived first. Sunny’s mug just shipped out and I’m waiting to win PJ’s mug. From what I’ve read, you won these mugs by redeeming a number of Dunkin’ Donuts points, and you would receive a mug for free. These actually came in boxes and unfortunately I do not have the box for any of the mugs. I just got them on their own. However I can’t complain since I got the mugs for dirt cheap, at least by PaRappa merch standards (about $13 each). If you’re wondering about PaRappa, he’s actually on the other side of all 3 mugs. I might actually try and find a second Katy mug for me to actually use because Katy’s is easily my favorite of the three, her mood sums up my mornings perfectly and I love it!

I finally got an opportunity to visit the World of Coca-Cola for the first time in what, 15 years? It’s very different from my last visit for sure, at least from what I could remember.
It was really cool seeing all the different items and brands the company has produced in the past century, and they even had a sample room, one of which was the infamous “New Coke.” After trying that New Coke, I can see why it was so hated when it launched, it does not taste very good. I think it was the aftertaste that ruins it for me.
Interestingly there was a Pop Culture room that caught my eye, but it won’t be open until the summer of this year. That got me thinking, do they accept donations? Because if they don’t have that PaRappa Coca-Cola hand towel, then I’d be glad to grab a second one for the purpose of donating it to them!
Lastly I got a few things at the gift shop, such as an ice cube tray, postcard, keychains, and these two Funko Pops of the polar bear mascot and the can. These ended up being my first ever Funko Pops, which I was holding out for Funko to make a PaRappa Funko Pop, but they have yet to actually make one (guess Funko doesn’t like money 🥸).
I’ll definitely come back in the summer once that Pop Culture room opens up, can’t wait to see all the sponsors and collabs they’ve done. I’m half expecting a whole wall dedicated to Peanuts.

So this weekend, I was in the mood to watch both the live action and animated Super Mario Bros. movies.
I recently got the Blu-Ray for the 1993 movie in the mail, and to anyone who is skeptical about this Australian Blu-Ray release, it’s region free, despite the back stating it’s a Region B disc. Anyway, I’m not the first to say this, but I’m admittedly a fan of the live action movie, despite its lack of faithfulness or resemblance to the source material, as well as the inconsistent tone, as it didn’t feel like it had a target demographic. My favorite aspect of the movie is definitely the set pieces, especially Dinohattan. A lot of effort was made to make this alternate dimension feel alive and lived in. Fun fact, this same set for Dinohattan was previously used as the Foot Clan hideout in the 1990 TMNT movie. It was especially great to finally see this movie in crisp HD quality and not the letterboxed laserdisc transferred DVD. Still not as bad as Dirty Duck’s DVD where they literally took the movie from a VHS transfer, I’m not kidding.
As for the 2023 movie, I’m sorry to anyone that likes it, but I’m not a fan at all. It’s pretty clear that this movie prioritizes fan service and references over a decent story. As much as I love the Instrumental score, the amount of 80’s licensed songs that have already been overused to death in movies, even some that have outright replaced the original score (particularly A-ha’s Take on Me), is pretty frustrating for me and just sucks me out of the movie. I’m also mixed on the animation itself. The backgrounds look nice, but some characters don’t really look so good (mainly Donkey Kong), and I found it to be annoyingly over-animated at points and the excessive use of slow-motion got old fast. Also the casting was kind of caca for me, with the exceptions being Charlie Day as Luigi and Jack Black as Bowser (minus that annoying Peaches song). I really don’t see what’s worth all the attacking and downplaying towards people who dislike the movie (yes that actually happened), because all it really has to offer are references, and once you’ve seen enough of those, then the movie really doesn’t do anything special or interesting. It really does feel like another Illumination movie made for money. Then again, Nintendo doesn’t take much risks with their products in recent years either, so I shouldn’t be surprised they chose Illumination to make the movie. In the end it made billions of dollars so get ready for that sequel.
And to toss in a bonus, I discovered and saw a 20th anniversary screening of Shrek 2! The only screening open that was was subtitled, but I decided to watch it anyway because… well, it’s Shrek 2. I still love this movie today just as much as I did back then, I don’t think I ever saw this one in theaters when it came out, so being able to actually do that was a phenomenal experience for me. Go and watch it on the big screen if you haven’t already!
