Almost all my lyrics are autobiographical but not always literal. So something that sounds like a fantasy could be a pun on something I actually experienced.”

As I said on my first fic rec post, I have written very many fics and I love almost all of them, so I can't pick FAVORITES so much as CATEGORIES, and this category is going to be "Fics Joanna Made Me Write Outside My Comfort Zone Because It's Good For Me Or Something"

Whenever I view the moon on the battlefield This was the FIRST fic I wrote outside of ANS fandom, and if that was not already out of my usual groove enough, it's also from the POV of one of the minor characters in Hakuouki, Shimada Kai. The concept was originally conceived while I was streaming a playthrough for the obiyuki discord-- Yamazaki (our best boy) and Shimada are both spies and spend quite a bit of time off screen, so we kept running into scenes and being like "how AWKWARD is it for those two to be watching this right now?" And so when it finally came time for me to throw my hat into the yamachi ring...Joanna asked for THIS to be the fic. You know. Instead of one where Yamazaki and Chizuru actually kiss or whatever. Sigh.

The Most Perverse Creature in the World Listen. I know there are people out there who LOVE xReader fics. I'm happy for you, truly. I am not one of them. But after answering the fandom fuck/marry/kill game (otherwise known as only one bed/slow burn/enemies to lovers) with small littler blurbs about the kind of story I would write for the older gentlemen in ANS (Shidan, Lata & Haruka), SOME PEOPLE got very invested in Haruka's little enemies-to-lovers blurb. Some people made puppy eyes. Some people made puppy eyes and then got very sick after, and I AM A GOOD FRIEND and wrote ONE CHAPTER and have never known a day of peace since. Six years later it's up to thirteen chapters, has a very complicated plot involving the politics of taxing oral sex, and I've learned how to effectively write in 2nd person.

don't speak boyshit I cannot properly explain how absolutely in our heads the Maria/Kamitani pairing is, but like. It's good okay?? Joanna did not so much force me to write this one so much as like...emphatically encourage its existence, to the point where I have a very complicated outline and she routinely reminds me I'll finish it when i'm like. 50. But this is certainly the gateway fic to the OTHER fics for this pairing she DOES want to twist my arm over, SO ON THE LIST IT GOES. I am one of TWO authors in this ship tag, and also one of TWO fics...and yet this is one of my most popular non-ANS fics 🤣

If the Mind Is Willing This is a fic Joanna will HAPPILY admit to being the main driver for, since, as she puts it, "there is no one else who could possibly ever write this fic." Taking TWO very niche concepts (LARP and a SURPRISE FOR LATER) and a very niche pairing (yamachi) would perhaps not have been MY first choice...but Joanna asked for the first chapter as a birthday gift a few years back and here I am, learning a whole new tabletop system and really giving my FBI agent something to talk about at the watercooler.

He Who Studies Evil Of all the niche fics Joanna has convinced me to put to paper (or at least, word document), this is probably takes the top spot. A prequel to my obiyuki Star Trek AU, this covers events about 10 years previous, with Haruka taking over DS9 and immediately being thrown into a political nightmare when he is informed that the Cardassians are in possession of a missing human child. This took...an INORDINATE amount of time to research and write-- I hadn't seen DS9 since I was in high school, and I watched through nearly half a season just to get the timeline right-- but I still REALLY love how it came out. Which is good, because it is definitely one of my least read fics 🤣

dont think any of you know this but im actually a huge nerd for got, so heres a whole ass rant about the lannister family names and some headcanons to go with it<3

first of all, i dont think its a coincidence that jaime is called jaime. he was called jaime because it was (somewhat) alike to the name of his mother (joanna), just as he was. due to only one thing was it easy to distinguish him from his twin; his smile. his smile that would take over his every feature and the carefree laugh which would trickle down the halls and remind his father to smile every once in a while. he was fundamentally kind. he was nothing that tywin had expected (or even hoped) for him to be like. but he was his son, and the grumpy old man even began to appreciate the name after the loss of his wife.

now cersei. its not alike to tywin or joanna at all. and neither is she, despite her best attempts. shes different in every sense of the word, and while there may be a glimpse of tywins greed or joannas endless love for her children in her, she isnt either of them. later in life, she started to think that was less of a bad thing than she had initially thought it to be. she enjoyed being her own person. and with her natural predisposition to duplicity and dishonesty, it was only right that they give her a name that represents that in ways both good and bad. hence cersei, almost like “serpent”.

now for everyones favourite bookworm, the little monster himself. tyrion. joanna wasnt around (obviously) when his name was chosen. it was entirely tywin. and though he may have said that it was to continue the tradition of having one son whose name began with “ty-”, it was because by the time he was finally given a name (other than “monster” or “abomination”) tywin was seeing himself in his son, more so than he liked, but so much so that he couldnt deny the fact. he was intelligent even before he could walk. he had learned to read expressions whilst people gaped at him, and he used his newfound knowledge to his advantage, to manipulate or mock, whichever he decided on at the time. deep down, tywin had been proud when he first noticed it. however, it isnt hard to spot that, despite the common prefix, tyrion doesnt have the same “tie” inflection as that of his father or grandfather. they dont sound the same, because they dont look the same. tywin doesnt want him to forget that. he knows his son is smart, he knows hell catch on. he wants him to. he wants him to be aware of the disappointment that he is and brings to his father. so he isnt granted the “tie” sound or a name that really reflects who he is, that would perhaps be more like jaimes if joanna had lived.

*She treats her son like he’s still her baby, and he usually can do little wrong. Unless he clearly defies her expectations or calls her out, that is.

Check! Jonah is basically the only consistent man in Jo's life and she smothers the shit out of him. Too much even.

*She resents her son’s significant other, because she thinks she can’t take care of him, and is openly hostile towards her whenever they’re serious.

Oh definitely. Despite Jonah and Anne-Marie always having a thing for one another, Jo was fine. It was just when they actually got into a serious relationship that made her go red. Due to Jo growing up with maids and servants for 15 years, that's shaped her view on 'taking care' of a person. And Jonah is an only child who Jo spoiled the shit out. So she doesn't believe that anyone else could 'take care of him' the way she does (she still doesn't see him as a grown man who an handle his shit).

*Clearly favoring the son over the daughter.

Jonah is an only child but MAYBE Jo would favor him, Jordan II, Connor II over Jazzy and Sammi. Idk.

*She does things to ensure that the son isn’t impressed with anything his future spouse does. Cooking is one of them.

Oh Jo repeatedly tries to make Anne-Marie look bad, even while they're just dating. She wants to stay Jonah's '#1 woman'. Kelly always has to reel her back in and be like 'wtf are you doing'

Unlike with Kitty and Jackie, this criteria actually fits. They have this weird and creepy mother-son/husband-wife style relationship (like Annette and Danny from The Mindy Project). Jonah is literally the only consistent man in Jo's life and Jo doesn't want to lose that so she acts very weird during that period Jonah has a girlfriend (not Anne-Marie).

Ladies in Oregon Be careful

Six women have been found dead in less than three months in secluded, wooded areas in the Portland, Oregon, region, but law enforcement authorities said they have not found any evidence that the cases are linked.

The women's bodies were found within 100 miles of one another, the Portland Police Bureau said in a news release over the weekend. Police have not determined whether they were all homicide victims, but they were all under age 40. 

Although news of the deaths was widely circulated on social media, the Portland Police Bureau said there was no reason to believe the deaths were connected.

“These discussions have led to some anxiety and fear in our community, and we want to provide reassurance that the speculation is not supported by the facts available at this point,” the department said in the statement.

The body of Kristin Smith, 22, was discovered on Feb. 19 in southeast Portland. Police said her cause of death has not been determined.

JoAnna Speaks, 32, was found dead on April 8 inside a barn at an abandoned property in Ridgefield, Washington, about 22 miles north of Portland, authorities said. She died of blunt-force trauma to her neck and head, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner. 

Charity Lynn Perry, 24, was found in a culvert by the East Historic Columbia River Highway in Multnomah County on April 24, said Deputy John Plock, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.

The same day, an unidentified woman was found dead inside a tent in Portland, police said, adding she may have been Indigenous, and there were no signs of foul play.

Bridget Webster, 31, was discovered on a rural road in Polk County on April 30, and Ashley Real, 22, was found in a wooded area on May 7. 

“It’s just so heartbreaking, and it’s really hard to put into words,” Robyn Speaks, JoAnna Speaks' sister, told NBC affiliate KGW of Portland. “It’s kind of hitting us more that it’s real, and we keep seeing on the news all these new girls.”

JoAnna Speak's stepsister Ariel Hamby said in an interview with “NBC Nightly News” that she was horrified and heartbroken.

“She was an amazing sister and wonderful daughter and a fantastic mother,” Hamby said. “This isn’t just about my sister anymore even if it’s not one person doing this."

Webster's stepgrandfather, who would provide only his first name, Tom, because he said he has been inundated with phone calls about the women, said he raised Webster "until she left when she was a freshman in high school."

“She was a good girl until I lost contact with her years ago,” Tom said, adding that he changed her diapers and taught her how to play basketball.

Multiple police and sheriff's departments are investigating the cases, and the Portland Police Bureau said it was also working with the county and state medical examiner's offices. 

“One of the main things that they are going to be looking at is the manner of death and the weapon," Bryanna Fox, a former FBI special agent, told “NBC Nightly News.” "If that’s consistent across all of these victims, then that will be a huge point.”
