“Astrud Gilberto was just the wife of singing star João Gilberto when she entered a NYC studio in March 1963. João and Jobim were making a record with tenor saxman Stan Getz. The idea of cutting a verse on “Ipanema” in English came up, and Astrud was the only one of the Brazilians who spoke more than phrasebook English.

Astrud’s child-like vocal, devoid of vibrato and singerly mannerisms, was the perfect foil for her husband’s soft bumblebee voice. Jobim tinkled piano. Getz blew a creamy smooth tenor. Four minutes of magic went to tape.” - [x]

hello !!! new writing blog !!!

hellooooo everyone, i'm jet! not new to tumblr but new to actually posting stuff since I've been like ghost using this site forever but i wanted a place to share my writing and interests!!!

as of now, I'm mostly into f1 and football so I'll be posting abt those and willing to write anyth abt them too! F1 favs are CS55 and OP81 and (if the joão félix icon wasn't clue enough) i love barca !!

i'll likely be posting some off-hand stuff I've written, not expecting them (or this) to be getting much attention because i'm still figuring out how everything works but yeah! if you have requests or just wanna be mutuals (is that how it works here?) then i'm down !!!
