rachael mcadams, 45, cis woman, she/her 𐫱 › hey, isn’t that lorelai sumi? i’ve heard that they’ve lived in bearhold for her whole life, and that they do know about bearhold’s supernatural presence. rumor has it that they can be rather spontaneous and disorganized, but hey, that’s just in their nature as a raconteur. they totally make up for it by being a social butterfly and creative. if you’re looking for them, you can probably find them at their work as a high school english teacher at bearhold community schools.
Tumblr media
NAME.         lorelai faith (hill) sumi.         NICKNAMES.        lorie faith, lorie.         AGE  +  DOB.         forty-five,  may 27th.         HOMETOWN.         bearhold,  washington.         GENDER  +  PRONOUNS.         cis  woman  +  she / her.         ORIENTATION.         bisexual.         OCCUPATION.         high school english teacher @  the  bearhold  community schools .         SPECIES.         human.         ABILITIES.         the ability to make friends everywhere she goes.
› aesthetics: big framed glasses perched on her nose while she grades papers, a classroom that has art and plants all in it because she thinks their needs to be color and life everywhere she goes, hair tied up in a messy bun secured with a pencil, a stack of books on her night stand that she's going to get to once she finds the time (she never finds the time and always is reading another book instead), dancing around the kitchen with her wife to distract her from a stressful day, watching reruns of the munsters with a tub of ice cream on a saturday night, the smell of paint lingering around her at all times.
inspired by princess anna (frozen), anne shirly-cuthbert (anne with an e), jo march (little women), lorelai gilmore (gilmore girls), clementine (eternal sunshine for the spotless mind), tinkerbell (peter pan), pheobe buffay (f.r.i.e.n.d.s)
i. lorelai grew up in a large family, a stay at home mother and a father who worked as the town doctor for many years before his retirement.. along with her seven siblings. so, yes it's safe to say that her family was very lively. a family of ten living happily in bearhold, washington. the hill family was one of the wealthier families in the city. her father's family has a long standing history in the town. and her mother's parents were in a similar position. even in their wealth her parents were far from snooty. her parents always encouraged their children to be themselves and live their dreams... they clearly loved them all. but, lorelai was in the middle of eight kids... so sometimes it felt as though she got swept up in the storm. not to say it happened often they all still came to her poetry readings, art galleries, and even supported her through her vegan phase in middle school. there was never a moment when she didn't feel seen by her parents.
ii. after high school lorelai traveled across the country to new york for college. but, admittedly she was hardly in school. she was trying to become an artist.. express herself freely in a new city... but, things didn't pan out and her parents weren't paying for her to roll around in paint with other women.. they were paying her for her schooling... while they wanted her to freely make art they wanted her to have an education more. which... finding out she was flunked out of school after two years living in the city they made her come home. she wasn't mad really.. she just wanted to be something more. but, returning home she found something more than what she was expecting.
iii. she found love. she met her wife when she was twenty-two back in school to become a teacher. while she wanted to be an artist she knew that would be left on the backburner for now... so, teaching her favorite subject may be the next best thing. eden was a breath of fresh air for lorelai. someone who made her feel truly seen in all her mess. because let's be real lorelai is a little bit of a tornado. but, she couldn't help but fall in love. within a year they were starting their family. it was really like an angel fell in her lap.
iiii. that was almost twenty-three years ago. and now they've been happily married with multiple kids and her wife became mayor. lorelai is blissfully unaware of the supernatural beings around her... and even in her own home. did i mention that their child is a banshee? yeah, she doesn't know that yet but lorelai's life is going to get a little bit more chaotic. oh-- and her wife is hiding the fact she's a psychic medium... well we aren't sure she's even embraced that part yet.
WIFE.         eden sumi.         CHILDREN.        to be applied for. (0/?)         PARENTS.         mary sue and gabriel hill.        SIBLINGS.         to be applied for. (0/7)

( grace van patten, cis woman, she/her ) — is that EDEN MONTGOMERY stepping out of the L-train? rumor has it they’ve lived in the windy city for FIVE YEARS and currently lives in LAKEVIEW. the 25 year old works as an ARTIST and originally hails from DALLAS, TEXAS. SHE has been given the reputation of being STUBBORN and PRIDEFUL around town, but friends say they’re more CREATIVE and INDEPENDENT. either way, I think they’re really fitting in here!
Tumblr media
NAME.         eden meredith montgomery.         NICKNAMES.        eds, eddie.         AGE  +  DOB.         twenty-five,  november 19th.         HOMETOWN.         dallas, texas.         GENDER  +  PRONOUNS.         cis  woman  +  she / her.         ORIENTATION.         bisexual.         OCCUPATION.         artist.
› aesthetics: big framed glasses perched on her nose, a studio with half finished art and plants, hair tied up in a messy bun secured with a pencil, a stack of books on her night stand that she's going to get to once she finds the time (she never finds the time and always is reading another book instead), an eyeroll that could kill a man, watching reruns of the munsters with a tub of ice cream on a saturday night, the smell of paint lingering around her at all times.
inspired by elsa (frozen), kat straford (10 things I hate about you), jo march (little women), lexi howard (euphoria), clementine (eternal sunshine for the spotless mind), galadriel (the Lord of the rings), poison ivy (dc universe).
quick read bio eden has always kept to herself. being the youngest she was the baby of the family and has always walked to the beat of her own drum. while she loves her family she always felt a little bit for a black sheep. so, as soon as she graduated she moved to savannah, ga for art school. she spent two years there before transferring to saic to finish her degree. she finally felt at home in the city. like maybe she was supposed to be here all along. the was five years ago now. she has her own studio and sells her art. she is very independent. only goes home on the holidays kind of girl. she's always been on the run. it's hard to track her down. she minds her own business but that doesn't mean she doesn't like to have fun. she enjoys going out to party with friends... and will defend the ones she has to the ends of the world.
SPOUSE.         none.         CHILDREN.        none         PARENTS.         mom and pop montgomery.        SIBLINGS.         oliver montgomery.

Me, sitting in math classes and taking tests: wot? pls halp. i don't know the big math words. I cri
Also me: The reason why I say Moon-jo and Hannibal are so similar is because they both saw the IMMENSE amount of potential in these two feral, sweaty, bisexual men and decided to risk it all, right? Like take Hannibal. He was a distinguished, trusted and well respected psychiatrist, but he sees Will and FORCES his way into that man's life and tweaks with his brain (almost literally). He loses his job, his cover, his "friends" and almost his life, JUST to watch Will become what Hannibal wanted. NOW slide to Moon-jo who is a well-known, admired, and somewhat professional dentist SO the fact that he almost immediately blew his cover when he notices a very mentally unstable man holding together by hair strands and he realizes that there's a good chance that this guy would make a superb serial killer partner (and he was right,, kinda) he fucking loses it. So first he gains Jong-woo's trust then later on he tries to encourage Jong-woo to do what he thinks the moment he thinks it. We all know Jong-woo has very violent thoughts so,,, yeah. Anyway, Moon-jo slowly wipes out his entire "safety net", The Eden Residence, because they threaten Jong-woo/Jong-woo's progression. Now I–
My sister, who just asked about Lee Dong-Wook: I'm begging you to stop–
Me: I'M NOT DONE. Anyway, now I'll explain the similarities between Hannibal and Moon-jo's affection for Will and Jong-woo and why it's their downfall–

with the start of the new year, i wanna make an appreciation post because seriously— without you guys, I wouldn’t have had such a wonderful creative outlet experience; wether you guys realize it or not, I can’t thank you enough.
Tumblr media
First and foremost, to all the people who like my writing enough to follow me… holy shit? I.. I genuinely can’t thank you enough. I’ve been writing since I was about nine — and for people to actually like what I put out, I seriously can’t fathom that. Thank you so much for making me feel like I have some sort of writing capability; it is really reassuring that my outlet away from real life can actually help and make other people smile — and h*rny but that’s besides the point.
+++
I’ve made so many friends on here and hope to make so many more… you guys are seriously the best. MUTUALS— NEW AND OLD! Please don’t be afraid to hop into my ask box, dms, discord- whatever! I’m always here (if not I’m having a mental breakdown in which I will still probably message you back but the responses will be stupidly slow) if you want to talk AND THIRST OR DAYDREAM because I like doing all of the above and shit I know you do too cause why else are you on this app. All jokes aside, I am so grateful for every single one of you and I hope to get closer to you <3 ! But as for the people I’m close to now .. hi.
@kingkatsuki — jo what do I even say?? how do I even start ?? this is gonna be so cheesy but hear me out. back in early 2020 when I first started watching my hero,, I was absolutely obsessed with your fics. I could NOT get enough. I think my favorite series of yours was definitely live show (even though you just had like two or three parts out at the time) ,, because that concept really melted my brain… it lead me to stalk your tumblr and just <333 made me fall deep within the my hero fandom. You are a really big reason why I’m here !! Ever since I joined Bakugou’s birthday collab, you’ve reached out so many times— really showed me that you cared for me as a person and I’ve come to believe that we cultivated a really sweet friendship!! So I just wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my experience in the fandom so nice🥺🥺
@sauza — ok so I know we just became mutuals but truth be told… I’ve been reading your incredible stories since last year,, I think I discovered your page around halloween time and my GOD did I have a swell time just binge reading everything. Sauza, you are so talented, genuinely one of my favorite writers and a huge inspiration. I think one of my favorites has got to be either badfish or she can get it or I want you … do you know the effect those has on me??? You had (and will always have) me by my NECK. I was literally gushing about your stories to my best friend (who is not in the fandom whatsoever but holy shit ????? I couldn’t NOT talk about them ??) and she just took it like a champ, letting me go off because she saw how excited I got. Anyways, you are so so sweet and I’m so glad to have become mutuals with you UwU
@kodzucafe — oh solace,, hye, you absolute angel. you the sweetest; the amount of serotonin I get whenever I see you post… you’re just so so lovely. Whether it be your caring daily reminders or your beautifully written pieces like this evening, they always make my day. Thank you so much for interacting with me and showing me so much love; letting me in and allowing me to read your cards, for letting me hear about your life and letting me in— I know you’re going to to do inspiring things,, spirit knows it too! I believe in you and whatever road you take; you’re going to set it ablaze. I’m here for you whenever you need and !!!! If you ever want another reading, I’m here!
@jolynesdreams — eden. my love. One of the two people from here who have me on Snapchat. You’re an absolute blessing. This is another where do I begin moments because you have been nothing but absolutely kind to me— especially when I needed it most. I’m a very spacey kind of person, like I become distant when I become stressed. It’s a really bad habit that I’m getting into and I feel terrible every time I do it,, but you’ve always told me that I’m okay. That people aren’t going to hate me because I’m going through things. And my god 🥺 bb seriously… I can’t tell you how much you’ve helped me. always my no.1 fan and I love you SOSOSOSOSOOSO much. Thank you for being there for me and supporting me when I need it most. You have such a kind heart and I’m so honored that I get to receive such kindness.
@tipsyangels — tipsy tipsy tipsy. Thank you for always being the one to like and comment on posts— even when I’m screaming into the void. You make me feel so loved and appreciated, like what I say is being heard! Thank you for creating lovely delicious content such as wanna make him jealous (that DEFINITELY fed me GOOD) and for being funny, kind, and an absolutely wonderful person overall and I simply can’t wait to have our friendship grow within the new year <3
@natsuonii — stevie!! You’re an absolute dream boat; you write things I couldn’t even dream of writing about and you do it SO WELL! I mean, I’ll never get over speaking from experience and how delectable the whole entirety of it was. Are you fucking kidding?? That whole plot was a dream. You know what I’ll also never get over? How you were one of the first people to actually message me about my new blog🥺 like I genuinely couldn’t believe that you liked me that much to follow me over here cause you just seem so cool !! Thank you for always being so inspiring 👉🏼👈🏼
@crybabycrisis — cloud my beloved. you get a big fat kiss. Why? Because I think you have been my longest running friendship on this app. You have known me through all my pseudos and have been with me through almost every theme. You’ve read my shit and thirsted with me more times than I thought someone would want to interact with me. Thank you for helping me learn who and what I could achieve on this app and for always making me feel special every time we interact. I luv u and I will never stop hyping you up over snap.
@touyasdoll — hello ash. you phenomenal writer, you. My god, the first time I’ve ever read your stuff, I think I went ballistic. My best friend’s brother had me coming back for more and more because your writing is just so fucking good— and that piece truly just,, oh my god. I can and have reread everything you wrote that has to do with dabi— and honestly … everything else too. I love the way you write and I love the light you shine upon the dynamics of reader and the character. You’re such an inspiration… AND YOURE SUCH A SWEETHEART??????????? Ash seriously 👉🏼👈🏼
@allsaiint — Spencer oh my god hi. you’re such a lovely person— did you know that? Like, I’m so happy that you found this blog and are still interacting with me to this day… UGH ! from the beginning, you have been so sweet to me— and such a big inspiration!! Like I know you remember how much I flipped my shit over monster, there was barely any Tendou fics out there and you put out the BEAUTIFUL WONDERFUL MOST OUTSTANDING WHOPPER of a fic and I have just been in luv ever since. And then.. I commissioned you.. and you just.. wrote the loveliest sexc shit with me & my babies,, ugh I will never be able to say thank you enough. But,, besides the point. Thank you for always being so kind with me and so patient. You are a wonderful human being and I appreciate the absolute fuck outta u <3
@omiishii junie <3 oh wow. you are just… one of the kindest people and such a wonderful artist. I remember watching you stream how you do your art for the first time and I was flabbergasted. Holy shit junie. The amount of detail I watched you pour into those pieces was incredible— absolutely fucking insane. BUT! Not only are you a talented artist, you’re such a kind-hearted friend. Thank you for being so wonderful and patient, and for always being so accepting. Your heart is so golden, inside and out that anyone who interacts with you feels so much better than they did before they interacted with you. You’re just an an absolute handsome ray of sunshine. (Also happy 6 year anniversary to you and your husband !! Big kiss from me !!)
@uzuiz BELLA BABY IM SO HAPPY THAT YOU’RE IN MY LIFE! Thank you for being such a bright soul and for making me feel like I deserve the world; and I hope you know— as do you. Thank you for being my fellow Sero Hanta lover and for thirsting with me about our lanky lover. You’re so!! ugh. My love. I think you actually gave me one of my happiest experiences as someone who writes; when you were gushing about that magical sero fic but you couldn’t find it… oh my god I wanted to cry. I had never felt so loved and appreciated as a writer. Thank you,, so so much.

Alex’s Award
Tumblr media
Hope you like it. Enjoy!
Thanks to @angry-slytherin :)
-
If you would have told intern Alex that fourty years in the future he would sit right here, beside his amazing wife of almost thirty years, he would have laughed hard. Never had he imagined that his hard work and a little lie about testicular cancer could bring him this far.
Sitting here in between hundreds of brilliant minds, hoping to win one of the biggest medical awards was still crazy for him. Why him out of all? Why should they give him an award? Why should he out of all deserve an award like this?
As he keeps looking around the room he recognises so many amazing doctors from all over the country. And he still can't believe that he is one of them.
He takes his view back to the stage as he hears Catherine read his name as one of the nominees of the night.
"...Doctor Alexander Karev, Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital..." That's all he hears as Jo squeezes his hand softly before she continues stroking the back of it with her thumb. He glances to the side where his wife is sitting and smiling proudly while she's watching the stage. His view follows his wife's to the stage as Catherine is about to proclaim the winner.
"And the Catherine Fox Award for medical innovation goes to- Alexander Karev, Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital."
The sound of words reach his ears but don't seam to reach his brain. His brain doesn't get it.
The grip of his wife's hands on his cheeks made him finally realise it. He fricking won.
His shocked face slowly defrosts as he looks into Jo's teary eyes. The smile on her face shines of proudness as she leans forward to kiss him, putting her left arm around his neck while her right hand disappears in his hair.
What felt like minutes for him turns out to be only a few seconds as Jo loosens her grip on him.
"I'm so proud of you." Jo whispers while she looks him in the eyes. "Now go and get your award." She loosens her arms completely and carefully pushes him towards the stage.
Where he's standing behind the microphone with his award in his hand within seconds.
"Fu- Sorry. Ahm wow. Thank you so much. I have this long list of people here I want to thank but let's make this short. Mom, Doctor Bailey, Robbins, Mer - thank you. But the person I really have to thank is my incredible wife Doctor Josephine Karev. Without you I would never stand here right now. You made me better, you changed me, you make me believe in myself. Not one person in my life believed in me more than you do. And I'm so incredible grateful that I met you twenty-seven years ago. I'm grateful every single day that I have you in my life, that you believe in me as a person and as a doctor and that you gave me this three amazing kids. Without my kids this idea would have never come to my mind. So I guess I have to thank them too - Emery, Parker, Eden I'm so thankful to have you; to have the privilege to call me your dad and I'm so proud of the people you grew up into. Not to brag but all three turned into amazing Doctors and just last week our son made us grandparents, so I guess we didn't screw them up too much, Princess." Everyone laughs while his eyes are glued on Jo. "Also, I hope someone is filming this, Mer, Cristina, Robbins, Avery-"
He puts the award next to his face before he keeps going. "I have one too now.”
While everyone laughs and applauds him again he makes his way back down to his seat. Smiling big as he sits down and kisses his wife again.
"You're gonna pay for the 'Princess'." She declares as she ends their kiss.
"It was worth it." He simply smirks.
The award show keeps going, honouring a few Doctors that are about to retire.
While they silently follow the scenes on stage Alex slowly starts stroking his hand up Jo's thigh through the slit of her dress. He carefully gets closer to her to whisper in her ear.
"Let's leave early and have some fun."
Not really on board with her husband Jo puts her hand over Alex's to stop him from going any further, before she turns to him.
"You have to go up there at the end of the show again for pictures and everything." She whispers to not bother anyone.
"We'll be finished by then." He replies cheeky, looking around to be sure no one could hear them.
"Ha you don't really believe that right?" She asks looking him in the eyes with an raised eyebrow.
"Are you saying I'm old?"
"No I'm saying if you start you aren't able to stop. So I promise when I got my picture of you on stage with your award and you talked to at least two medical magazine for an interview, you can keep me awake the whole night." Jo answers smiling at him before she leans in for a kiss.
"Deal." He agrees as they part.
The award show slowly comes to an end and all winners get back on stage again for pictures and a few interviews. And slowly the room empties as Alex is done with his third interview.
"Go up there one more time." Jo asks him with puppy dog eyes, knowing that he can't say no to her. "Please, for me?"
So he gets up there one more time so Jo can snap a few more pictures on her phone of him and his award.
As he comes down again they ask a nice old lady to snap some pictures of them together in front of the stage.
"Thank you." Jo thanks her with a smile as she takes her phone back.
"Oh you're very welcome. By the way if I'm allowed to say so I admire your work in Africa and I would really like to donate a little something to the Karev Foundation." The little grey haired woman smiles as she gets her check book out of her purse.
"Oh that's so nice. Thank you so much." Jo replies politely as she looks at Alex and back to the elderly woman. "We make sure your little something will help a lot of children."
The old lady scribbles something down on her check book before she folds it and puts it in Alex's chest pocket.
"Thank you so much again." Alex thanks her again, than takes Jo's hand and guides her out of the room.
"And now Doctor Karev I'm gonna take you to my room and rip that dress off you." He whispers as they walk towards the elevators.
"Whatever you want." Jo answers sneaky.
They wait a few seconds before they get into the elevator and push the button to their floor.
With Alex's award and her purse in her hands Jo can't fight back as he gets behind her and starts kissing her neck. She turns in his arms before she stops him for a second.
"What?" He asks a little disappointed as he still holds her tight.
"I wanna see what she donated." Jo answers as she hands him his award and her purse.
Fishing the check out of his chest pocket to unfold it.
"Holy-"
"What?" He quickly asks as he looks into his wife's big eyes.
She turns the check to show it to him, "It's a million!"
They silently stare into each other's eyes, both in shock of the amount of money they are able to put into their work in the future.
The sound of the elevator stopping wakes them and with another quick kissing Jo turns around and makes her way to their room. Alex follows a little behind, still carrying her purse and his award.
He quickly catches up with her and gets their room key out of his inner suit pocket to open the door.
Inside he quickly closes the door and gets rid off the things in his hands. To have them free for his wife. Within seconds their lips are back together and they slowly start undressing each other.
Alex is just about to open the zipper of Jo's dress as his phone starts ringing.
"No." He grouls, but picks up as he sees the name of his daughter on the screen.
"Hey kiddos. What's up? Did something happen?" He immediately asks, as he puts it on speaker and throws it down on the bed near his wife.
"Oh shut up dad. Congratulations." The voice of their youngest daughter comes through the phone.
"Thanks Eden." He laughs, as he quietly gets rid of his shoes and starts slowly opening one button after the other while he stares into Jo's eyes with a little grin on his lips.
"We are so proud of you dad." His oldest daughter congratulates through the speaker.
"Thank you Emy." He answers, still looking into his wife's hungry eyes as he gets rid of his suit jacket and shirt.
"Yeah you rocked that dad. We are very proud and Anna says congrats too, she just went to bed with Claire." His son adds to his siblings congrats.
"Thank you guys." Alex replies as he sits down on the bed beside Jo who smiles at him.
"Is mom there too?" Eden asks, knowing that it's a rhetorical question because their parents are always together.
"Yeah. I'm here." Jo answers, turning her view to the phone.
"You looked so hot in that dress mom. I have to say it." Eden adds.
"Thanks Eden. " Jo answers a little confused, "How do you know about my dress?"
"Dad send us pictures." Her daughter clarifies.
"Oh he did." Jo replies turning her view back to her husband, raising her eyebrow in surprise.
"Yeah. But we don't want to bother you any longer, by the look of you in that dress I'm actually surprised you picked up at all." Their youngest daughter jokes.
"Eden!" Emery's voice echoes through the phone.
"What? It's true. They might be our parents and maybe old but we all know that they still do it like bunnies."
"Good night Eden." Jo quickly interrupts before their daughter could say anything more, "Good night everyone else."
"Night mom and dad."
"Good night." Alex says his good bye before he hangs up and lets himself fall back onto the bed in laughter.
Jo joins him as she falls against his bare chest.
"She's not wrong." Alex shrugs as he slowly calms down again.
"I know." Jo adds before she starts kissing him again.

challenge 04: a vid that made you start watching a new show/movie
America Chavez - Battle Cry by absternr America (2017 solo run for America Chavez) (Marvel comics) There are years between me first finding the vid, liking it, and "putting the comic on my list" and actually getting around to finally read the comics: The vid promised me a badass hero of color, and some sweet found family - I got both.
On AO3 here. On Mmhm-vids here.
Stacy´s Mom by audreyv Crazy Rich Asians (2018) I LOVED this song when it came out, and despite the problems I have with the movie the relationships between the female characters in the movie were actually nice. On AO3 here. On Mmhm-vids here.
With Pride by evewithanapple Princess of Thieves (2001) The fanvid promised me Robin Hood but with a cool girl character as the daring hero of the people - and the movie gave me that. The fanvid also focus on the (fanish) feel of inspiration in representation and indeed the movie was something I think I would have adored as a kid. On AO3 here. On Mmhm-vids here.
Storm Song by Trelkez Twister (1996) I love stories about people whos love something that has the power to destroy them, I love people who love like a force of nature themself - this vid promised me the story of Jo and her love for storms, and I had a incredible good time with the movie delivering just that. The movie also features a lovely weird found family of storm chasers around Jo, who do not get as much screen time, but who I also adore and would love to see a fanvid for. On youtube here. On Mmhm-vids here.
Home by bironic Big Eden (2000) The vid promised a queer movie with a home-y feel and some found family, the movie delivered that with a cheesy country soundtrack that definitly added to my enjoyment. On AO3 here. On Mmhm-vids here.

Rebel Without A Cause (1955)
It is interesting that Rebel came up for posting on the 4th of July.  It’s such an American movie.
Three teenagers have been arrested and wait for their parents in a police station.  Each are questioned by a kindly juvenile detective played by Edward Platt (Chief from Get Smart).  James Dean’s parents fight over him each blaming the other for doing this or that and causing their son to be so troubled.  Sal Mineo has been detained for shooting puppies and the only person to show up for him is the family housekeeper.  And Natalie Wood has been arrested for solicitation.  Or pretending to solicit.  She only wants her father’s attention but he can’t be bothered with her because he thinks she is a dirty tramp.
And there you have it.  That is Nicholas Ray’s opening scene.  We get hit hard and fast with the teenage life.  We care about the characters right away whether it be from an abandonment point of view, a parental ideal, or a wild child perspective.  Or maybe we are interested in the three characters because they are each so fucking gorgeous.
Rebel is iconic in so many ways but this is my summer with Natalie Wood so I am going to focus on her contribution to the film in the role of Judy.
1. She has the second longest crying scene in the history of film up to this point trailing only Bette Davis.
2. She was 15-years-old while she was making this movie and had to fight tooth and nail to get the part since no one believed she could be convincing out of pig tails.
3.  She was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Newcomer but she had been making movies for 11 years up to this point.  Natalie Wood had made over 20 films by the time she got the part of Judy in Rebel.
4.  Natalie was romantically involved with the director, Nicholas Ray, prior to and during the shoot.  He was in his 40′s.  Natalie credited Ray for giving her a chance to break free from the child star mold that Warner Brothers had cast for her.
5.  Natalie received her first Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her role as Judy in Rebel Without A Cause.  She lost to Jo Van Fleet.  Dean’s co-star in East of Eden.
6.  Natalie, who never studied acting, worked with one of the most difficult actors of the era, James Dean.  James was intense and difficult to read and impossible to please but 15-year-old Natalie’s frenetic energy seeps into the older actor’s Method and sort of brings him back down to Earth.  James was other-worldly in his acting.
So - I thought about what this movie has meant to me over the years.  I once loved it for the James Dean part.  As I became more educated I appreciated Sal Mineo’s bravery to play a homosexual (albeit implied) character in a 1950′s film.  As a Natalie Wood enthusiast I have to say I can’t imagine another actor in the role of Judy.   Other actresses in the 50′s were too refined, too sexy, too old, too naive, too dumb, too smart, too big of a star, too foreign, too funny - Too Not Natalie Wood.
She is as American as apple pie.  She was both sexy and naive.  She was the right age.  And she let the other actors shine.
I don’t think people automatically think of Natalie Wood when they think of Rebel Without A Cause but I think they should.  That role could have been just bla - and people would still have loved the film because of James Dean.  But Natalie made Judy into a real person.
My review?  I think all teenagers should see the film.  It’s a great teenage rebellion movie.  As an adult, however, the storyline comes across as somewhat old trope.  Of course the film is 65 years old.  It is the definition of old trope.
Also, since James Dean only made three films, you kind of have to see Rebel Without A Cause.  Other filmmakers reference this movie all the time.  If for no other reason, you should watch it to understand what’s going on when someone yells ‘You’re tearing me apart!’

Prior to 2010 kdrama rec post
@walkwithheroes84 asked: “What are some dramas (Japanese, Taiwanese, Chinese, and/or Korean) that are older (pre-2010) that you wish more people would watch.”
Ooooh boy, we are gonna be here all day so I am just going to do Korea and save the rest for later. I had to really cull!
A Love to Kill (2005) - I own Japanese DVDs of this, I was so obsessed. A dark, intense melo in which Rain gets a job as a bodyguard to a rising young star played by Shin Minah. His plan is to seduce and wreck her to avenge his dead brother (who he believes killed himself after she heartlessly left him for fame), but he recons without his own impossible feelings for her or the extent of SMA’s internal damage. They remain one of the most impossible, messed-up, intense, doomed OTPs I’ve ever shipped. Stock tissues.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJox8iEcFMs
All In (2003) - he is a gangster, she is a nun. Have I gotten your attention yet? This was a huge hit and Lee Byung Hun and Song Hye Kyo are out of this world together.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuVDFLOytQI
Beautiful Days (2001-2002) - a super classic, grown up melo about a plucky poor girl and a tortured workaholic and Choi Ji Woo and Lee Byung Hun set the screen on fire.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3skKcivjJs
Capital Scandal (2007) - somehow both frothy and deeply emotional, this centers on freedom fighters and playboys and spies in 1930s Seoul. If you don’t love it, you have no heart.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HN-0tERlaNM
Chuno/Slave Hunters (2009) - possibly my favorite sageuk (it’s a threeway tie atm), this story about an aristocrat turned slave hunter, a general turned slave, and a slave woman turned an aristocrat, all involved with rebellion, court secrets and sheer desperation of their lives is amazing. Beyond amazing. Jang Hyuk, Oh Ji Ho and Lee Da Hae are all on fire and if you ever watch only one sageuk, make it this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vAGdXpN6no
City Hall (2009) - Kim Sun Ah as a small town civil servant and Cha Seung Won as an amoral fixer for a powerful politician sparkle beyond words in the most grown up, smart kdrama romcom I have ever seen.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLek2pnv8yY
Coffee Prince (2007) - Yoon Eun Hye is a woman dressing as a man, Gong Yoo as a man horrified to discover he likes her while thinking she is a boy. This was a mad hit for a reason.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKSupXmez5w
Damo (2003) - my first sageuk, this is as good as ever. Ha Ji Won is a police tea servant, a noble lady whose family was executed and she came down in the world; Lee Seo Jin as her noble superior who loves her silently. She infiltrates a conspiracy led by the charismatic, tortured Kim Mim Joon, and epic tragedy follows.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGkglLvjJ9k
Delightful Girl Chunhyang (2005) - back when Hong Sisters were consistently good, this is a modern take on the famous folk tale. Our heroine is a studious poor girl and our hero a ne’er-do-well son of a local prosecutor. There is arranged marriage, true love surviving some insane sacrifice, one of my all time favorite OTPs, and a heroine and hero that grow into people I was obsessed with. Confession time - I wrote fanfic for this drama!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kTGHJZIUvA
East of Eden (2008-2009) - a sprawling multigenerational epic they don’t make much of any more, this has its flaws but the plots and brotherhood and romances and the characters and the revenge are so worth it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6LBIo16-e8
Emperor of the Sea/Sea God (2004-2005) - a larger than life sageuk epic they don’t make any more.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j53vbAxW3d4
Family’s Honor (2008) - Kdrama does North and South. Our heroine is a widow from an aristocratic family, our hero is a noveau riche ruthless businessman who gets attracted to her. This is so so good!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrAMgTKg_As
Fashion 70s (2005) - period drama about a bunch of intense cool peeps, fashion and love. Just watch it.
https://youtu.be/qly7vkFUv3g
Friend Our Legend (2009) - the most criminally underrated drama on this list, about a group of childhood friends turned gangsters and the tragic fall out.I want a rewatch rn tbh.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJQx3tA5cGs
Goong (2005) - a giddily fun take on an alternate universe where an icy modern crown prince and a bubbly commoner have to get married.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAjz-5b4P6A
Green Rose (2005) - this tale of a man (Go Soo) trying to get revenge and get back to his love (Lee Da Hae) is a modern take on Monte Cristo and has one of my fave opening scenes ever.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epJt6jCIOlU
Hello My Teacher (2005) - Gong Yoo is a student in love with Gong Hyo Jin’s teacher.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNFoENWvEEk
Hong Gil Dong (2008) - starts out wacky, ends up by making me cry. A wonderful take on Korean Robin Hood and the OTP omg the OTP!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ingEOTBSnt0
IRIS (2009) - in the running for my favorite kdrama of all time, with definitely the most tortured hero, this starts out as a fun routine actioner until our hero’s life details in a horrifying fashion and even his attempts to right the world are doomed in this horrifyingly bleak, intense, romantic drama.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kesXxZOBzQ
Jumong (2006-2007) - the DADDY of all traditional sageuks, with insane ep count (81) and equally insane and deserved ratings. See our hero go from zero to hero and an awesome king.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILBnGNxtwXw
The Kingdom of the Winds (2008-2009) - Song Il Gooks last sageuk (so far, though I don’t think he’s gonna bother to come back), a story about a cursed prince and his quest for love and throne, this is wonderful.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1qfC0yFIf0
Last Scandal (2008) - they dated in high school. Now she is an exhausted ahjumma with a deadbeat husband and he is a huge star. A second chance romance that starts out hilarious but turns profound follows. One of my all time faves.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zquHf8-p3ZU
The Legend (2007) - I’ve raved about it elsewhere; it is arguably my favorite sageuk of all time (or maybe even just plain fave kdrama), smart and passionate and hugely epic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=853sc-s2hHE
Lobbyist (2007) - one of the very few actioners I’ve ever liked, and with more whump than you can shake a stick at, Song Il Gook is a tough as nails international arms dealer with an even tougher OTP (JJY) and this is a heaven of plot and love and hurt/comfort.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8puRJNmey4
Loveholic (2005) - a student/teacher romance AND a story about a man going to jail to protect the woman he loves all rolled into one. What more could you want?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6nVH75IRCM
Lovers (2006) - if it’s a smart adult love story you want, come right in!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgpe4VkbtNk
Mawang/The Devil/Lucifer (2007) - meet possibly my n1 kdrama of all time. Haunted past, tragedy, revenge, complicated characters and plot. If there is a perfect kdrama, this is it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkn1KYaCjVk
My Girl (2005) - Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae set the screen on fire in a romcom with hidden identities and plot twists. PS it is funny but when the drama starts, I literally bawled.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0jpSCN72Wg
One Fine Day (2006) - Sung Yuri and Gong Yoo in a lovely, angsty romance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVeUG5U3oCU
Piano (2001-2002) - this is like who is who before they got to be big stars - Go Soo and Kim Hae Neul are in love but can’t be together because they are stepsiblings, Jo In Sung is a young gangster, tragedy and melo all around.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRG_4Uxl4Zo
Que Sera Sera (2007) - Eric and Jung Yumi play the ultimate dysfunctional couple. He uses his good looks to date rich generous women, she is a neighbor who is neither. Their levels of obsession with each other are insane.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4XqW14_A7k
Queen Seon Duk (2009) - want a female centric sageuk that is intense and epic and amazing? Look no further!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwIY4poVBNw
Resurrection (2005) - a tight, complex revenge thriller that more people should see.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_ZbmVAk8zQ
The Return of Iljimae/Moon River (2009) - Jung Il Woo’s debut, this is arguably my favorite take on Korean Robin Hood ever and except for Someday and Friend Our Legend, the most underrated drama on this list.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YjgmHVO3n0
Robber (2008) - Jang Hyuk and Lee Da Hae break my heart and then heal it in this intense story of a man preying on desperate women and a broken widow. Yes, it’s another two messed up people heal each other story. I love those!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDyy3UtUWeM
Romance (2002) - a teacher/student romance, with gorgeous young Kim Jae Won and Kim Ha Neul.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LBs1tnc5Js
Sang Do, Let’s Go to School - Gong Hyo Jin is a teacher, Rain is a gigolo taking gigs to support his son; they used to be each other’s first loves. It’s wistful and slice of life and utterly tragic. Written by Lee Kyung Hee of the A Love to Kill and Thank You fame.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRg1q3RULWk
Save the Last Dance for Me (2004-2005) - I binged 17 episodes of this baby at a go, a record that has not yet been surpassed. Ji Sung is a rich man who is in an accident and gets amnesia, being cared for and falling for Eugene. However when he recovers his memory and forgets his amnesia time - he will end up meeting her again and falling for her all over again (hilariously, his RL wife Lee Bo Young plays the psycho secondary girl in this.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekfBrvJil8c
Say You Love Me (2004) - a much better attempt at Dangerous Liasons than the wretched Tempted. Kim Rae Won and Yoon So Yi, naive and tragic young lovers, come across a pair of jaded sophisticates; the female half of whom is intrigued by the fresh faced KRW and envious of uncomplicated young love and asks her partner to take YSI away from KRW for kicks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niL2WJ_oAIU
Seoul 1945 (2006) - from WW2 to the Korean war, this is intense and smart and pulls no punches.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYsotv2rFQI
Shining Inheritance/Brilliant Legacy (2009) - Han Hyo Joo is a young woman tormented by her family; Lee Seung Gi is a spoiled rich boy who needs to grow up. I was obsessed with this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_sWhVZA3DY
Snow Queen (2006-2007) - Hyun Bin and Sung Yuri do a tragic romance melo right. He is a poor, smart kid, she is a brittle rich girl with a terminal illness. It hurts so good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEkAbJLYVpk
Someday (2006) - a sheltered cartoonist suffering from a writer’s block meets a sort-of small time private detective. They are both haunted by their pasts but find hope and healing with each other.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLVijs891dw
Spring Day (2005) - a very solid melo where Jo In Sung ends up stealing the girl from the original leading man.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps7l27OBnVQ
Spring Waltz (2006) - the last and, imo, best of the seasons dramas, possibly in my all time top 10 kdramas, it follows a haunted young pianist and his OTP and their shared tragic past and hope for the future.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IGO0DST8dk
Swallow the Sun (2009) - Ji Sung as the haunted mercenary wanting revenge on his father, Sung Yuri as his tough, common-sense girlfriend, one of my fave secondary OTPs (mercenary x stripper) etc etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C51efR5Iq5I
Thank You (2007) - Gong Hyo Jin is an island woman living with the stigma and agony of having an HIV positive child. Jang Hyuk is a surgeon haunted by the death of his girlfriend. Two lost souls find and heal each other in one of my all time favorites.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVk1TjvZZOw
Time Between Dog and Wolf (2007) - Lee Jun Ki is tortured a lot on his path to revenge and love. I loooove this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v24-57tLFH4
Tree of Heaven (2006) - only ten eps but bring your tissues for this tender and tragic and gorgeous love story between Park Shin Hye and Lee Wan, stepsiblings for a brief time; they reconnect when she’s a cleaner and he’s a gangster. I was sooooo obsessed with it!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnAZlXZjFcw
What Happened in Bali (2005) - Ha Ji Won, Jo In Sung and So Ji Sub are a trio of desperately damaged people entangled with each other in what is probably still the darkest melo I have seen out of Korea. Money grubbing poor woman played by HJW, high-strung, abused rich son played by JIS, or a cold, ambitious man on the rise SJS - pick any of them, there is enough damage to level a city.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKHcYvK5qZM
Will It Snow for Christmas (2009) - a melodrama with Go Soo and Han Ye Seul by Lee Kyung Hee.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvQ14gtCqvw
Worlds Within/The World That They Live In (2008) - the last candidate for my n1 kdrama of all time. By Noh Hee Kyung, with seemingly mundane lives of TV station personnel. But every character is someone you feel you know and Hyun Bin and Song Hye Kyo are both real and unreal as the OTP.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBHrjZ8T6a4
Congrats if you made it to the end!

Show Breakdowns - Little Women: The Musical
Here’s a new thing I’m trying! Basically breakdowns and descriptions of characters in a show along with the audition songs I suggest for them! I figued I’d start with a show I know inside and out.  Below the Cut for length. This is specific to the 2005 Jason Howland/Mindi Dickstein version.
Josephine “Jo” March
Playing age: 15-22 (character ages through the show)
Lead. A Star Vehicle role. Jo barely leaves the stage (I should know, I’ve played her before).
Range: E3-A5, Belt to E5. Mezzo Belt (or strong mix)
Dance Requirement: Some movement
Jo is fiery, exuberant, and passionate. All her emotions are extremes which can lead her to be rather blunt or brash and very headstrong. She starts as a complete tomboy and keeps a lot of that as she grows up. The show begins with her in her 20s living in a boarding house in New York City and then Act I flashes back to her teen years in Concord, MA with Act II coming back to her 20s. Her journey is tied to  finding her own unique voice as an author rather than just writing what she thinks will sell.
Suggested Songs:
Uptempo: Spark of Creation, Children of Eden; Watch What Happens, Newsies; I’m Your Man, Meet John Doe; Times are Hard for Dreamers, Amelie; The Writing on the Wall, The Mystery of Edwin Drood; Live Out Loud, A Little Princess
Midtempo: Journey to the Past, Anastasia;
Ballad: Woman, The Pirate Queen;  He Threw Me, Meet John Doe;   A Change in Me, Beauty and the Beast
Theodore “Laurie” Laurence
Playing age: 15-22 (ages through the show)
Supporting Character. Doubles as Roderigo I
Range: Bb2-Bb4 (A youthful, contemporary high Tenor)
Dance Requirement: Some movement
Laurie is the quintessential boy next door. He lives with his grandfather and his cat across the way from the March sisters and quickly becomes enthralled by the love, warmth, and joy in their family that he feels lacking in his own house. He and Jo are best friends and almost too alike. After Jo rejects his proposal, he goes away to Europe where (after reuiniting with a now grown up Amy) he matures and he and Jo are able to resume their friendship (now as brother-in-law and sister-in-law). As Roderigo I, he starts as the generic hero of the story Jo is writing.
Suggested Songs:
Uptempo: Top of the World, Tuck Everlasting; Partner in Crime, Tuck Everlasting (Originally duets, can be arranged as solos)
Midtempo: My Petersburg, Anastasia; Corner of the Sky, Pippin (overdone)
Ballad:  Proud of Your Boy, Aladdin; I’ll Be There, The Pirate Queen
Margaret “Meg” March
Playing age: 16-23
Supporting Character. Doubles as Clarissa
Range: Bb3-B5 (Legit Soprano)
Dance Requirement: Some movement
Meg is the eldest of the March sisters and takes it upon herself to try and teach her younger sisters how to act like a proper lady--though she’s still really a kid herself . Meg is the only one of the sisters with a solid memory of what it was like when the family was wealthy and often finds herself yearning for the ease the money would bring to her life. She wants to be accepted and admired in society, but learns that her own happiness is much more important than status or money. As Clarissa, she is the heroine of the story Jo writes growing with Jo’s skill as an author from a generic damsel in distress to her own knight in shining armor.
Suggested Songs: Till there Was You, The Music Man; I’ve Never Been in Love Before, Guys and Dolls; Goodnight My Someone, The Music Man; I Saw Him Once, Les Miserables; I Could Have Danced All Night, My Fair Lady
Elizabeth “Beth” March
Playing age: 13-21 (character ages through the show)
Supporting Character. Doubles as Roderigo II
Range: A3-G5 (Mix Soprano)
Dance Requirement: Some movement
Beth is the third-born of the March sisters. She is the peace-maker of the family and can always be counted on to support or uplift her sisters whenever they need it. She is constantly willing to go out of her way to help those who need it (such as their poor neighbors, The Hummels) and has a deep love of music through which she bonds with Grandfather Laurence. As Roderigo II, she is the twist that shows Jo’s unique flair as a writer, turning out to be the heroine’s sister in disguise rather than another generic swashbuckling hero.
Suggested Songs: How Could I Ever Know, The Secret Garden; The Girl I Mean to Be, The Secret Garden; Much More, The Fantasticks (overdone); Far From the Home I Love, Fiddler on the Roof; The Secret of Happiness, Daddy Long Legs; In My Own Little Corner, R&H Cinderella
Amelia “Amy” Curtis March
Playing age: 12-20 (sometimes cast with 2 actresses as younger and older Amy)
Supporting Character. Doubles as Troll
Range: G3-G5 (Bright, Disney-esque Soprano or Mezzo)
Dance Requirement: Some movement
Amy is the youngest of the March sisters. As a 12 year old, she longs to be grown up and elegant. She normally feels forgotten or left behind as the youngest. Very feminine Amy often butts heads with tomboy-ish Jo as they’re both headstrong and impulsive--two sides of the same coin. As a 20 year old, Amy has been chosen by Aunt March to accompany her to Europe to become cultured and (ostensibly) to be educated in painting (though it’s really more that Aunt March wants Amy to find a suitable husband). Amy returns still headstrong and impulsive, but also now the refined lady she dreamed of being as a child. She eventually falls in love with Laurie as their personalities compliment each other where Laurie’s and Jo’s clashed. As the Troll, she is an obstacle for Clarissa to overcome, representative of conquering materialism.
Suggested Songs: Love is an Open Door, Frozen; That’s How You Know, Enchanted; A Lovely Night, Cinderella; I Could be Happy With You, The Boy Friend; Follow Your Heart, Urinetown; Beyond My Wildest Dreams, The Little Mermaid; Much More, The Fantasticks (possibly overdone)
Marmee March
Playing age: ~42-50 (Flexible as Marmee’s age is never given)
Supporting Character. Doubles as Hag
Range:D3-E5 (a warm Mezzo or Alto)
Dance Requirement: A little movement (one number).
Marmee is the mother of the March girls. With her husband away at war (and not featured in the show at all), it falls on her alone to raise the girls to be strong, brave, and compassionate young women. Marmee is wise and loving, but not overly indulgent or lenient with the girls. She hides much of her grief and struggles (and temper) from her daughters so that they feel they can always lean on her. (Fun fact, Meg and Amy are both named after Marmee, whose given name is Margaret and maiden name was Curtis). As the Hag, she is an obstacle for Clarissa to overcome, representative of conquering vanity
Suggested Songs: Back to Before, Ragtime; What Kind of Woman, Ragtime; Sensitivity, Once Upon A Mattress; When There’s No One, Carrie: the Musical, Close the Door, Anastasia
Aunt March
Playing Age: ~65-73 (Flexible)
Supporting Character. Doubles as Mrs. Kirk
Range: D3-E5 (Character Mezzo or Alto)
Dance Requirement: Optional (Possible in “Could You”)
Aunt March is the girls’ formidable, crabby, and very wealthy Great Aunt for whom Jo was named. While she is stern and rigid, she genuinely does love her great nieces and wants to see them succeed in life (granted: “succeed” by her definition). Jo works as a companion for Aunt March, reading to her and fixing things around the house. Amy later takes over this job as she gets older. Mrs. Kirk is Jo’s landlady and employer in New York. Jo is governess to Mrs. Kirk’s daughters. She can be a bit of a busybody, but  is overall very kind to and supportive of Jo.
Suggested Songs: Perfectly Nice, Jane Eyre: the musical; A Slip of A Girl, Jane Eyre; Liaisons, A Little Night Music; So What, Cabaret; Brimstone and Treacle, Mary Poppins; Haven’t Got a Prayer, Sister Act
Professor Friedrich “Fritz” Bhaer
Playing age: 34-35 (but looks older.)
Supporting Character
Range: G2-F#4 (A high Baritone/Baritone with a strong upper extension--should sound older than Laurie and Mr. Brooke)
Dance Requirement: None
Prof. Bhaer is another tenant of Mrs. Kirk’s boarding house in New York. Originally from Germany, he emigrated to America upon his sister’s death to raise her two sons. He and Jo strike up an odd friendship and he becomes her beta-reader. He is nonconfrontational by nature, but will give his honest and blunt opinion when asked (much to Jo’s chagrin at times). He finds himself fascinated by the adventurous young author and eventually they fall in love--a union of equals rather than simply being in love with the idea of Jo as Laurie was.
Suggested Songs:  Some Girls, Once on this Island; I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face, My Fair Lady; Love Sneaks In, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels; Emma, Emma the Musical; Charity, Daddy Long Legs
Mr. John Brooke
Playing age: 20-28 (Flexible, no age is given in the story).
Supporting Character. Doubles as Braxton
Range: C#3-Gb4 (A darker tenor than Laurie, but sitll lighter than Prof. Bhaer).
Dance Requirement: None
Though he starts off as Laurie’s rather stiff tutor, Mr. Brooke is a romantic at heart and a big dork. He and Meg are immediately smitten with one another. He later shows off his latent courage by joining up with the Union Army and endears himself to the other sisters (Jo was not particularly keen on his and Meg’s relationship) by escorting Marmee to Washington DC when her husband falls ill. As Braxton, he is the classic over the top melodrama villain in Jo’s story who Clarissa vanquishes with the help of her sister.
Suggested Songs: Everything To Win, Anastasia; There She Was, The Scarlet Pimpernel; Her Voice, The Little Mermaid
Grandfather Laurence
Playing age: ~65-73 (Flexible)
Supporting Character. Doubles as The Knight
Range: C#3-D4 (Gruff Character Baritone or Tenor with a strong lower extension)
Dance Requirement: Optional (possible in “Off to Massachusetts”)
Laurie’s distant and rather foreboding grandfather. Mr. Laurence took Laurie in after the boy was orphaned and is very strict with him. He originally sees his grandson’s involvement with the March girls as an unnecessary and detrimental distraction from Laurie’s studies, but is won over by Beth with whom he bonds as she reminds him of his dead granddaughter in both demeanor and love of music. He eventually becomes a surrogate grandfather to all the March sisters. As the Knight, he is the final obstacle for Clarissa to overcome, representative of accepting self-sacrifice and putting the needs of others first.
Suggested Songs: A Sentimental Man, Wicked; No Matter What, Beauty and the Beast; Something Was Missing, Annie

The day is June 15 2020
The time is 3 am
The situation is that the world has fallen into a pandemic of Covid-19, and my job closed down in March, leaving me with lots of time on my hands. Despite my doubts, I fell back into Supernatural, deep into it, and I am now rewatching it. I thought it would be fun to try and see how much I could remember from earlier seasons before I watch them all
I have watched up to 1x14 at this point, so those episodes are fresh in my mind, but lets see what else I remember
Season 1
“Dad’s on a hunting trip, and he hasn’t been home in a few days”
“Saving people, hunting things, the family business”
Sam’s girlfriend dies just like his mom did
Their dad is the point of the season but is only actually in like 3 episodes

A John Seed/Original Female Character Fanfic
Ancient Names, pt v: acta non verba
Masterlink Post
Word Count: 4.8k
Rating: M for now, rating will change in later chapters as things develop.
Warnings: Language, some “light” religious blasphemy (it’s Far Cry 5), the Seeds being themselves. This is an enemies to lovers (enemies to enemies and lovers?), strong canon deviance from here on out. Mentions of blood/carnage, the frantic energy of people who both hate and are attracted to each other. It goes on!
Notes: So the gang is finally getting somewhere in this chapter! Sometimes, a family is two murderers and their dog, that also wants to kill one of them, and that's okay.I was pretty nervous about writing this chapter, because I feel like I slog so hard through combat sequences just to have them feel like they drag, so I hope it reads okay!! Big thank you to @starcrier, who consistently lets me babble to her about these two dumbasses and also beta-reads all of my garbage all the time (and says she likes doing it???? Okay???). She is a pure angel and incredible writer and deserves all of the love and attention, so please go check out her stuff!
Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who leaves feedback, and I hope you enjoy!
Joey Hudson is her best friend.
Joey Hudson is her best friend, because she teaches Elliot how to tell if a lipstick color isn’t going to work for her (anything orange-hued), and how hard to close her eyes when Joey pours hydrogen peroxide on her scraped knee from sneaking back in her through her window, and how to laugh until her stomach aches, tucked into her tiny twin bed with a movie playing on her laptop.
They do just about everything together. Joey doesn’t mind that sometimes Elliot’s mama drinks a little too much, and she doesn’t mind that Elliot doesn’t talk about where her daddy’s gone (or if she even knows where he is; they both come to understand, very quickly, that it doesn’t matter). Joey doesn’t mind these things, and instead she makes them her own, solidifying Elliot as her very own honorary sister.
It’s nice. It’s nice, because Joey’s mama doesn’t drink too much, and cooks often, and doesn’t mind how frequently Elliot stays the night.
Joey Hudson is her best friend, and when Elliot is a little drunk in a bar and thinks about letting someone like John Duncan take her home and have his way with her, Joey swoops in and takes her out of the line of fire just in time.
“What is wrong with you?” Joey is laughing, erasing any thought that she might be serious, as they stand outside the bar in the gravel parking lot. Elliot’s face is hot from the alcohol and Joey smushes her cheeks together. “Letting a rich boy like John Duncan try and whisk you away? Who are you and what have you done with my Elli?”
“It’s still me!” Elliot protests. She’s laughing, too, and then she groans, resting her forehead on Joey’s shoulder. “Joey, he’s so attractive. How can someone be so attractive? I’ve never had a type, but—”
“Attractive, and no good.” Joey pats her head affectionately. “A man like that is no good.” She pulls back and smoothes the hair out of Elliot’s face. “C’mon then, darlin’. Let’s go home and watch one of those horrible Hallmark movies to get your mind off of our awfully attractive, awfully no-good friend in there.”
Elliot pouts. She is two drinks in and already in no shape to drive. “I can pick?”
Joey nods, quite sagely. “Yes. If you say to me that John Duncan is no good.”
“Fine.” Elliot sighs. “John Duncan is no good.”
They start walking towards Joey’s car, gravel crunching underfoot, and Elliot rests her head against the brunette’s shoulder. Joey says, “And now is the part where you say, thank you, Joey, for always looking out for me and—”
Elliot stops in front of the car, exhaling. “Thank you, Jo,” she says. “Really. You’re my favorite person.”
Joey squeezes her shoulders. “And you’re mine, El,” she promises, her eyes full and warm  as she grins. “Even if I don't know what you'd do without me.”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
John Duncan is no good, Elliot thought.
He was no good, certainly; especially now, especially as John Seed, but—
“Hey, dog,” John said to Boomer, sitting as far away as he can, the cuffs pulled taut between them. He couldn’t have sounded less enchanted if he wanted to; Elliot could tell his exact feelings about the Heeler having found them. And, of course, she knew Boomer’s feelings about John , in particular.
John shifted where he sat, and Boomer growled. The brunette shot her a murderous look.
“How do you propose we rescue your Deputy Hudson if your beast won’t let me move?” he asked her tartly. Elliot rubbed the top of Boomer’s head thoughtfully; immediately, the growling stopped, and he relaxed again, though she knew her boy was just waiting for the signal to rip John’s throat out.
She felt lighter than she had in days. Safer. Happier. Warmer.
“Weren’t you listening?” Elliot’s voice was only dry for the comedy of her words. “He’d only bite you if I told him to. He’s not a wild animal.”
“Oh, yes, because my lack of faith in your good feelings about me is completely misplaced,” John replied. His voice was terse. He came to a stand, keeping a wary eye on Boomer, and brushed his jeans off before stretching his arms out in front of him.
In a situation where he had been stripped of all of his power, of all of the people chanting yes to whatever it was he was doing, John felt—looked—sounded —
Normal.
She didn’t want to think about that. Any time John did something that felt human, it erased the very recent actions he’d taken as a crazy cult leader. Kidnapping her. Considering drowning her (though as time went on, she thought he wouldn’t have followed through; it wasn’t his style).
My parents are the one who taught me the Power of Yes, his voice had crackled through the radio at her, once, in what felt like a different life—a life that felt coppery and slick with blood, but where she’d felt at home in the violence, where she’d been comfortable. Now I’m going to give that power to you.
Elliot whistled, and Boomer took off into the brush, the movement causing John to hesitate just for a moment before he relaxed. She fought back a smile and said, “Let’s see if our friends are still around, shall we?”
“Yes,” John acquiesced after a moment, not that he had much of a choice; she was already picking her way through the underbrush, tugging him along with her. There were just a few moments of blissful silence before he said, “You know, deputy, this wasn’t the way I had originally pictured having you in handcuffs,” and Elliot thought, oh, yes, there’s the John I know. She yanked a little on the cuffs linking them together, nearly causing John to trip over himself.
“Funny,” Elliot replied sweetly, “I was just thinking the same thing about you.”
“You are such a child.” John’s voice was low, and threatening. She flashed her most charming smile at him.
“You’re much funnier when you’re not acting like a psycho. I think I’m even beginning to enjoy my time with you.”
She climbed up the ravine’s slope, leaning into the tilt of it, feeling a bit fresher than before but still bogged down by the urge to cough. Her throat itched and her eyes watered, by the time she got to the top and crouched in the treeline, John lingering close behind.
There was only one gray van parked there, now. Elliot could see maybe one man guarding the entrance, but who knew how many people were inside? Even when they’d had their first run-in down on the highway, she’d thought she’d had a solid head count until they came crawling out of the woodwork, like termites.
Which only made her more paranoid about creeping around in the woods, too.
“I don’t think we’re going to have any better odds than this,” Elliot murmured. “If we wait any longer they might have more people here. There’s a radio in there, right? We can get in touch with…”
Her voice trailed off. It was an argument she didn’t want to have right then, with John —who they were going to talk to first, whether they’d be radioing the resistance or if they’d be reaching out to Joseph to let him know what was going on, if he didn’t know already; surely, someone like Joseph Seed would be practically omnipotent to what was going on his domain, though Elliot would never presume to know what the fuck was going on in his head.
“Joseph,” John said, infuriatingly erasing Elliot’s hope to let sleeping dogs lie, even for a moment.
“We can argue about the logistics of contacting sane people with resources versus your psycho brother once we have access to the radio,” Elliot snipped. She crept forward in the brush; Boomer was crouched a few feet to her left, waiting patiently for her signal, but every muscle in the heeler’s body was tensed and ready.
Elliot held out her hand for him, a silent, noiseless signal, stay , and he laid down on the ground obediently, obscured by the sunlight dappling through his bush of hiding choice. There was no way she was letting someone put a round of bullets in him.
“Keep your arm relaxed,” Elliot muttered, beginning to ease out into the field.
“This one?” John whispered back, rolling the shoulder of the arm farthest from her.
“No, dumbass, the one I’m—”
“I know, deputy, I was trying to lighten the mood.”
“Consider retiring from your comedy career . ”
It was nice, at least; dare she even say refreshing , to find John annoying after having spooned willingly with him all night.
Every instinct in Elliot’s body—the ones she had before, and the ones that she came to develop with the insurgence of Eden’s Gate both—was screaming. This big, open field, its grass only barely tall enough to obscure them from the sight of the guard, felt exactly like the field that Bambi had to cross, worried about being caught in the crosshairs of a hunter on the prowl.
Halfway across the field, Elliot caught herself mid-stumble over a lump in the ground; as she regained her balance and glanced down and identified the source of the fresh, wet earth now sticking to her knees and hands, she felt her stomach churn violently.
It was a row of shallow graves, freshly-dug. The bodies that were buried were completely obscured except for their faces. Like Waylon’s, their eyes had been scooped out and replaced with short-stem blooms—vibrant, clean, new. Done recently, just like the graves, which means they were probably killed recently, too. They were clearly Eden’s Gate. Their scruffy hair and tanned complexions, even in death, gave that away; but each grave was lined with a fresh butterfly weed, vibrant and gorgeous orange against the dark earth.
“Sick,” Elliot managed out, her voice wobbling, feeling the nausea welling up inside of her. John’s face was tight and hard, and there was something about it—like maybe he didn’t care if they died for him , but he didn’t like that someone else had brought this death to them, that it didn’t serve the purpose of Eden’s Gate at all to have it happen like this.
Stuffing down the urge to puke, Elliot pressed on with John close at her back. They crept their way up the hill to the side of the ranch house, though it was more like a mansion than anything else now that she could see it up close without being too busy looking everywhere else. In the distance, not too far away, she heard the sound of the guard in front of the door saying something to himself, or maybe into a radio, walking absently into view with his back still to them.
He wore the same dark boots that Elliot recognized from the men who had been hunting them down in the woods, but he otherwise looked to be in civilian clothes. Well—except for the machine gun slung around his neck. The sight of that made Elliot’s fingers itch.
She held up a finger to her mouth to John, creeping forward. The cultist ahead of them hummed something under his breath and tapped his fingers against the barrel of the gun to his imaginary beat.
Her heart thrummed in her chest, but for all of the sickness in her body and the poor sleep and the ragged feeling of being trapped in close quarters with John Seed for what had to be over twenty-four hours by now, in this little heartbeat of a moment she felt clear.
Elliot stood and threw her hand forward, up and over to one side of the man’s head. She felt the drag of John’s weight against her own, like he hadn’t been keeping his arm slack like she’d told him to, and by the time she got the loop of the handcuff chain over his face he saw her out of the corner of his eye and started to turn, his expression warping into something more vicious than relaxed.
She yanked her arm hard to the right, criss-crossing over John’s own, which hovered with uncertainty in the air, until the chain pulled tight across the cultist’s throat; immediately his eyes went wide, and instead of scrabbling for his gun he reached to try and give himself any breath of air.
Noise started to eek out of his mouth, his tongue moving like he wanted to say something as his hands fought desperately to get between the metal chain and his neck. He was going to scream, if he got the chance, or call for help or sound some alarm that she didn’t need to have happen, and Elliot thought, not on my fucking watch just before she stomped her foot into the back of his knee, watching as he crumpled until his kneecaps hit the dirt; almost like an instinct, John’s foot came up to the back of his head and slammed his face into the side of the ranch building.
The body went slack, and then slumped against the ground, blood smearing the side of the building wall. She didn’t think he was dead, but he was quiet—for now—and that was what was important. It wasn’t like they were going to stay very long.
“I told you to keep your fucking arm relaxed,” Elliot hissed, as she and John untangled themselves from the man’s neck. His nose was almost certainly broken, which was a nice little treat of a detail. Something for her to be happy about in these trying times.
“Maybe you could be a bit more clear about your plans next time,” John snapped back, still keeping his voice low and quiet. It didn’t seem like there were any other guards outside, but that was something that Elliot wasn’t going to trust. “I guess we’re just lucky that I’ve got good instincts when it comes to—”
Elliot slapped a hand over his mouth. “Shut the fuck up , John. Do you not understand the concept of sneaking? ”
John made a low, muffled noise of protest, pushing her hand off of his face before they moved past the guard to the front door. It was unlocked, when John pushed the handle down and eased it open; they didn’t see anyone immediately, but she could hear low chatter coming from a different room.
She glanced back at John and then gestured him forward. He made a face at her, rolling his eyes with enough exaggeration that she almost scoffed—as though he were saying, oh, sure, now that there’s more than one guy, I’ll go first. Elliot feigned innocence at what he could possibly be scowling at her for, but in reality, it made the most sense—he knew where the radio was, and he knew the layout of the ranch better than she did.
John straightened up, moving down the first hallway until they got came around the staircase; a shovel was leaned up the wall, still wet with dirt, and the brunette ahead of her steadied it on the wall so that they couldn’t risk knocking it over and alerting their houseguests. Their armed, presumably crazy, houseguests.
The two men inside the living room said something to each other, one of them pacing to the back of the living room for the window, and this time John made eye contact with her before she nodded, silently; choke one out, get the last one out of the way.
As soon as he stepped forward, the floorboard creaked violently under the shift of his weight, and both heads snapped to look at them.
Their eyes on the two of them—first on John and then on her, narrowing and pin-pointing her like a predator—made Elliot’s adrenaline kick into high gear. There was one brief moment, a heart-beat long, where nobody moved, before Elliot saw the closest cultist to them begin to ease his hand down to the radio on his hip.
No time, she thought, reaching blindly until her hands found the wooden handle of the shovel. No time, no time.
Elliot snapped out, “Down!” to John just in time for him to obey the command— so he did learn the first time after all —and she swung the head of the shovel like a baseball bat before it connected directly with the cultist’s face, slamming into him with the full force of all that adrenaline pumping through her body.
As soon as she felt the satisfying connection, she heard the sound of more rustling and suddenly remembered the second cultist, in the back of the living room. He had a furious look on his face, his gun already in his hand, and he lifted it to train it right at her.
It was not the first time she’d had a gun pointed at her face, and it would certainly not be the last; but still, there was something that settled deep in her stomach, something she recognized as fear , bitter and cold, the second the cultist smiled at her and said in his thickly-accented, “Put your shovel down, pretty bird. If you do, I will be nice to you and your boyfriend.”
He took a step forward, gun still leveled at her, and then at John, and then back at her. Her fingers tightened their grip on the handle of the shovel, hesitant, panicked—why wasn’t he shooting? Why wasn’t he killing them right now? Why was he looking at them (and it was them , not just her ) like that?
Elliot didn’t have much time to think about it. As soon as the cultist took another step, John leveraged his free hand behind the nearby curio cabinet and shoved it, shouting, “ Now , Elliot—” and rocked it with such immediate force that the whole thing groaned with the ache of gravity. The cultist darted forward as the cabinet began to crash down, attempting to crush him, snarling something in foreign at them viciously just as Elliot swung the shovel straight into his face.
She felt, this time, the impact of his bones against the metal, vibrating deep into her hands and all the way up her arms as the shovel. Blood from the slap of the shovel against his mouth sprayed the wall, a tooth or two scattering across the floor, and his body collapsed back atop the now-deposed cabinet, gun clattering to the floor.
For a second, they were both quiet, listening and waiting to hear the sound of furious feet stomping up the stairs, angry voices coming to assist their fallen comrades; but there was nothing. The house was empty. The sound of soft classical music playing from the radio filtered through the haze of her brain, a sound she hadn’t recognized because of the roaring in her ears when she’d seen their hunters in person.
“Let’s move, deputy,” John said, reaching and grabbing the gun off of the floor. “We’ll see what all they left us.” She nodded, feeling a little winded, and dropped the shovel on the ground with a collection of noise; the knowledge that it had been used to bury those men and women made her skin crawl, and she was sure the disgust showed on her face. John eyed her for a moment and said, “You don’t feel like keeping that?”
Elliot shot him a look. “We can pick it up on our way out if we really want it.”
They picked their way up the stairs to the room that had been John’s—or, rather, that Elliot presumed was his, because he moved toward it with such purpose she thought it could only be that. But it felt barely lived-in, the bed still pristinely made and no sign of someone actually existing in it anywhere, save for a small table with a chair pushed up against with an empty walkie-talkie holder sitting in it.
“Gone,” John said, his jaw working absently in what Elliot knew now to be a tick he had. “Well—”
“It’s better,” Elliot said, “that we don’t have radios. They have the radios. I saw one on that guy’s belt, which means they’re probably in the same channel we’d use anyway.” She frowned. “They don’t need to hear where we’re going.”
“We heard where you were going,” John pointed out, reminding Elliot of the many times that he had interfered with her own radio to threaten her.
“I didn’t care,” Elliot replied, “because I had an idea of what you’re capable of. I don’t have that with these…”
John nodded. “Yeah.”
A heartbeat of a moment stretched between them, long enough for the unsaid words to go: I don’t know what they’ll do with Faith, I don’t know what they’ll do to Joey. Too much to risk.
“Well,” she murmured, coughing into her elbow and taking a laborious breath, “we can lift the van out of here and hopefully go unnoticed, and get to Fall’s End—”
“Where everyone wants me dead,” John deadpanned. “If someone is going to be capable of rescuing Faith, it’s going to be Joseph, and Jacob.”
“If someone is going to be capable of rescuing Joey, ” Elliot snapped back, “it’s going to be the resistance. I don’t want to argue about this, John—”
“So don’t.” John’s voice was hard and smooth, the way he spoke when he was trying to get some stupid confession out of her. “Agree to go to Joseph first.” And then, in that infuriating preaching voice he used and that wicked glimmer in his eyes, he added, “Just say yes.”
She let out a long, sharp breath, exhaling it until her lungs ached with the effort of it, her head pounding. There was almost no likelihood of them being able to get out of these cuffs until they got to Fall’s End or to Joseph, and so that meant they were stuck together one way or another.
“If we go to Fall’s End,” John ventured, closing some distance between them, “we’re going to put a big, fat target on the Resistance.”
Elliot tilted her chin defiantly, having to in order to make straight eye contact with him now. “And you’re willing to do that to your brothers?”
John shrugged. “There’s always been a target on them, deputy. This will be no different.”
Somehow, Elliot didn’t believe that was true; but if John wanted to put his family in danger again, then so be it.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“Close your eyes, Jonathan.”
John grimaced. “That isn’t my name, deputy.”
“The sentiment remains the same,” Elliot insisted, and he heaved a sigh before he closed his eyes. He heard fabric rustling, the sound of Elliot kicking off the boots she’d been wearing and then sliding out of the sweats she’d been in for the entirety of their tied-together time. She’d already raided the bathroom to pack a backpack with water and Tylenol, in addition to a few loose granola bars from the kitchen; now, it was just getting out of those sweats, which he could only assume she was probably relieved about.
He’d gone ahead and changed out of his clothes and into cleaner ones; as well as he could, anyway, being hand-cuffed as they were. He hadn’t needed to tell Elliot not to look; she’d been more than happy to oblige without being told.
“I am facing away from you,” John reiterated, his eyes dutifully closed even when there was a part of him that wanted to make her squirm. “I don’t see the point in closing my eyes .”
“It’s not about you , you egomaniac,” Elliot sighed. “It’s about my comfort. Eyes shut.”
“Scout’s honor.”
She scoffed. With his eyes closed, his back turned to her, he could hear the sound of her shimmying into what he could only presume where her jeans, stuffing her feet back into her jeans, and then—the small, quiet clicking of her gathering the pills off of the count and taking a large swallow of water.
“Aren’t you afraid I’ve drugged you?” John asked dryly, turning to look at her now. She watched him with a flat expression.
“Then you’d have to haul my body around,” Elliot replied. “I didn’t say you could look.”
John’s gaze lingered on her, just for a moment; maybe a little longer than he would have liked her to know, but it was easier to steal looks at her when she was focused elsewhere. “You’re perfectly suitable for society, Deputy Honeysett.”
“That’s Junior Deputy to you, asshole.” She swallowed back the last of the water and shook her head, grimacing. “I hate pills.”
“What are you, nine?”
“Fuck off.” She was still in the over-sized undershirt of his, tied like a little summer blouse at her belly-button, exposing skin there that looked—now that he was staring—to be the home of a few gossamer scars. The question of where they came from itched on his tongue, and he only barely kept it to himself.
“So,” she said.
“So,” John parroted, eyes flickering up from her exposed abdomen to her face. He knew what she was going to say; that she agreed with him, that they were going to go find Joseph first and then get Faith and Joey back, because Elliot may have been a capable killer but if she didn’t need to put the people of Hope County in danger, she wasn’t going to.
“Fall’s End needs to know what’s going on,” Elliot began. “But I don’t want them to see us driving there—”
John nodded somberly. “Uh-huh.”
She glared at him. “—so we can put your stupid fucking brother in the crosshairs,” she continued, biting the words out, “but the second we get there I use a radio and get ahold of Jerome. Also, I drive.”
John’s lip curled involuntarily at the mention of Pastor Jeffries. One of his least favorite Resistance members, if he was going to be asked to rank them. Pious, holier-than-thou, and oh-so-patronizing when it came to their beliefs.
“Fine,” John said. “But only if you promise not to go off-roading.”
“No promises,” Elliot snipped. He flashed her a smile, which apparently did not win her over, because she followed it up with, “And if this deal gets broken in any single way, whether it’s on the way there or when we get there, I’ll fucking kill you.”
She headed for the door while he barked out a laugh, looking more put-together now, jogging up the steps and pulling him along with her. They made one stop in the living room—to grab the other gun, and then the van key, which she managed to find in one of the pockets. They left both radios; they felt like traps, beacons for someone to find them. His eyes were trained on her, watching each assured movement as she pulled useful things off of the dead body; a clip of ammo, a throwing knife.
“You’re telling me that you’re going to lug my dead body around if you don’t get to call your little friends?” John asked.
A wolfish grin had made its home on his face, and as she straightened up into a standing position again, Elliot shot him a look. There was something in her expression that was almost playful, but the words that came out of her mouth were, “Oh, John, I’d find a way to cut your arm off before I let you slow me down.”
It shouldn’t have been as endearing as it was, a part of John reasoned; it certainly made his jaw set in defiance, but his heart stuttered a little at the words, and that’s what he hated about it, that he thought, we’re not so unlike each other, Rook.
He didn’t trust himself to speak just yet, so he walked outside with Elliot and said, “You don’t want that gun?” and pointed at the (now surely dead) guard they had assaulted earlier. She shook her head.
“Too heavy,” she replied briskly. “And I don’t trust you with it.” She brought her fingers to her lips and whistled sharply, once; John watched the treeline, but he didn’t see Boomer until the dog was sprinting up the hill, not once having spotted his form in the field. No wonder that dog’s caused so many problems, he thought dryly.
Elliot ruffled Boomer’s ears, saying something sweet to him that he didn’t quite catch because he was too busy watching the beast warily. Boomer seemed only interested in doing the same thing to him; occasionally, his tail would wag when Elliot patted him, but it would immediately drop for him to cock his head inquisitively at John.
He scoffed under his breath.  The dog was cute, in its own master-killer way. He guessed.
Elliot opened the back of the van first, shooing Boomer in and closing the doors before making her way to the passenger door and unlocking it. She slid into the driver’s seat from there, John obediently following suit, and quickly clipping his seat belt into place.
“I’m getting flashbacks from the last time I was in a car with you driving,” he said dryly when she shot him a curious look.
“Poor baby.” Elliot dropped his sunglasses from the top of her head down onto her nose, sticking the key in the ignition and turning it. The van purred to life. It was a nicer one than the ones Eden’s Gate used, and she reached past him to rifle around in the glove box before she found what she was looking for: a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
“Really, deputy?” John asked dryly, as she lit the cigarette in the van and rolled the window down. He saw, behind the blue tint of his sunglasses, her eyes roll dramatically. “I didn’t know you smoked.” And then, with a little incredulous laugh, “You’re sick.”
“You’re fucking right I’m sick, and stressed out. I’ve got Tylenol in the bag and I’m a big girl.” She eyed him through the sunglasses, and quipped, “What’re you going to do, tattle on me to God?” before she was laughing at her own joke and cranking the wheel of the van so she could throw it in reverse. “I’m going to need this whole pack if I’m going to survive a mini road trip with the likes of you, John Seed.”
“You shouldn’t mock the faith, deputy.”
“You shouldn’t mock the faith,” Elliot repeated, shifting into drive. “You sound stupid when you say that shit. I know you don’t believe it.”
He chose not to entertain her ridiculous accusation, glancing out the window. “If you think this is stressful,” John rumbled, settling back against his seat as she wound the van down the drive of the ranch, “consider that your road trip is taking you to your in-laws. I’m your boyfriend, remember?”
“Fuck off.” She took a drag of the cigarette, tapping it out of the window. “I’ll throw this van over a cliff if you call yourself my boyfriend again.”
Her venom really was a comfort, he thought; if he didn’t know better, he would have thought he liked it.
He did. The dramatics of her vitriol pushed a grin on to his face.
“Oh, I certainly was right about you, deputy,” he drawled, rolling his window down as they hit the highway. “Your sin is wrath.”

Supernatural 15.13
Tumblr media
Not as bad as I thought it would be! I was expecting it to be a total train wreck and it wasn't which is pleasantly surprising! Does that mean that it was good? Eh....let's get into it.... I tend to start with the negatives first and then go to the postivites - if there were any - but this week I'm switching it up and talking about the positives first. This episode had a major, massive highlight and that is: AU Sam and Dean, and their interactions with our Sam and Dean. I was cracking up from the moment they appeared, I had to pause a couple times cause I was laughing so hard it killed me I could have seen a whole hour of that- I could watch a whole series about those two! There wasn't nearly enough of them; Jared and Jensen killed it, they did amazing! Gifs and pics don't do those scenes justice, I could talk about it all day and it wouldn't do it justice you just have to see it for yourself it's so much fun. I highly, highly recommend looking up those scenes and watching them cause they're truly a must watch. That aside the rest of the episode is 'eh' in my opinion. The quick recap of it is that Jack is ready for the next phase so Billie sends the boys, and Castiel and Jack on the hunt for a portkey (it's not called a porktey it has a name but I can't pronounce it much less write it so I'm just gonna call it a portkey), their search leads them to Sister Jo who says she gave it to Ruby who hid it in hell so the boys go to hell were Jo had set a trap to the surprise of nobody except maybe Sam and Dean who seemed slightly caught unwares and while that's going on Castiel asks Jack to semi kill him so he can go to the empty to talk to Ruby because he doesn't trust Jo and then Ruby tells him the portkey is a place not an item in exchange for him getting her out of the Empty (he does not) and then Jack revives him and they go off to the church to find the thing but not before getting AU Sam and Dean (who got into the our boys world while trying to run away from their world) to disguse themselves as regular Sam and Dean in case Chuck decided to check in on them at the bunker because in that world God is a fucking idiot and is not all seeing all knowing I guess (🤦‍♀️) point is after one of the best scenes in the whole episode our boys, feathers and Jack make their way to the church, find the portkey which Jack eats (it said to do so on the instructions. kind of) gets transported to Eden and badda bing badda boom Jack is a real boy again! aka he has his soul back. And that's pretty much the episode. Like I said, in my opinion, with the exception of the AU brothers it's very 'eh'. This is the episode where the wives appear, and honestly they're unnecessary their characters don't contribute anything specific to the story. Their role in this episode could have been done by any other two characters and made little to no difference. The pacing and storytelling was a little bit scrambled for me, it definetely needed some polishing cause it was kind of all over, and there were a couple of things that really annoyed me and irked me in this episode mainly related to Sam and how he was treated in some parts of it like there's a scene where Jack and feathers are talking and he asks like when Dean will forgive him for what he did to Mary but he doesn't ask about Sam's forgiveness even though Mary (while she too seemed to forget this fact) was Sam's mom as well and her death hurt him as well and yeah him and Jack are on better terms than Jack and Dean but still, and then when Jack is in Eden he's getting flashbacks of his life and....there's no Sam, there's a bunch of Dean but there's no Sam even though Sam was and still is a big part of his life- Sam is the reason Dean even gave the kid a chance! I hate how the writers keep trying to downplay Sam's role in Jack's life and attempt to remove him from the picture; and then there was the scene in the church, while they were in the church looking for the portkey they got ambushed by hellhounds and while Sam was holding the church doors closed Dean, Castiel and Jack were having a convo and then after Jack eats the thing both Dean and C just kept standing there like two idiots instead of helping a clearly struggling Sam out with the door!  That annoyed me so much, I kept pretty much screaming at my computer 'don't stand there like idiots go help him!'.
Nonetheless as a whole, I don't think it's a bad episode, it could have been much worse especially coming from Bucklemming and it is an improvement over last weeks, but it could have also been much better, take AU Sam and Dean out of the equation and this would just be one more boring episode, and I can't belive I'm saying this but...BuckLemming have - in my opinion - done better, if I put this epi up against Prophet and Loss even though both gave me brother content that I love Prophet and Loss is to me as a whole a better episode. So while I wouldn't say this episode was bad, I also personally wouldn't call it good to me this is just an okay episode; if you haven't seen it yet, check out the first 10mins you'll get pretty quickly what the feel of the episode is and from there you can decide whether or not you want to watch it. Whether or not you end up watching the whole thing I do recommend checking out the Sam and Dean scenes cause to me they were the best part of the episode, and I believe you can find them on youtube, or you can fast-forward through the episode and only see those scenes.
Seriously, remove AU brothers from the equation and this episode is nothing to write home about.

Songs From 2019 (one per artist)
Another mixed bag of stuff i either enjoyed a lot, thought was excellent or interesting (regardless of taste… sort of), emerging artists to maybe look out for, and generally music that for whatever reason connected with me in some way, including the odd earworm i just couldn’t shake. Some artists are left off just to vary a little more from some other popular lists. Hope you enjoy some of this too and find something new to be taken by. Please do buy their music if you can and hopefully from a local independent record store if possible to support their work. There’s a spotify playlist (below) for easier listening but I’ve also posted a few links to extra things on some of them if you want to check them out.  Spotify:
(As ever…. as i don’t tumblr or blog or anything (besides this list), this won’t be seen by many (if any?) people so if you like it or think it’s of any worth in any way, please do share this along)
