episode 33: Shibuya Incident - Gate, Open

I don't know how i survived this episode like I had seen the tweets and the quotes and the edits but I was so completely unprepared for actually watching it

gojo absolutely kicking ass was not something I'd seen coming but I was definitely not objecting especially when jogo realized he wasn't using Limitless and was beating the shit out of them with just martial arts and basic cursed energy

like they didn't stand a chance and he was going easy as hell on them that's actually insane

and then all of a sudden there's just "hey" and the infamous "satoru" and i was just sitting there like so not ready for this at all

"my heart and soul know otherwise" they literally knew each other by soul and knew each other better than anyone else and if it weren't for MF TOJI they could've figured their shit out and had a whole fucking life ahead of them but THEY DIDNT GET THAT

everytime they mention okkotsu I remember I need to watch JJK 0

episode 34: Pandemonium

watching suguru choke out kenjaku with the whole "protecting satoru gojo was muscle memory" quote in my head was a new level of suffering

kenjaku and mahito having a whole philosophical discussion and gojos like FUCK OFF IM BORED

the way the last thing gojo saw was suguru and he never even fucking BLINKED

getting some mechamaru moments in this episode kinda makes up for the fact that they killed him instantly after getting a new body and a new start

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie Thoughts and Update

Heyo, sorry for the absence as of late, several major things have occurred, nothing dire, just some things one after another (the car I drove coming to its end, needing to find a new one, my mom getting injured, etc) as well as being in a bit of a mental funk. Anyway, I am starting to feel up for posting again, though I think I ought to pick specific days of the week to do them on, a vague schedule is easier to keep me on track, I notice. Two side notes, first that I have a couple asks, don't worry, I'll answer them when I decide to do more chapters, the second is that I see Tumblr's link formats for tags on blogs have changed a bit while I was gone (Going from - to %20 between words for some reason), so some of my liveblog links are a bit wonky, I'll fix that later, because, man, that's a lot. Tumblr kind of sucks, lmao.

Though, getting to the actual topic, I watched the JJK movie today! I'll discuss spoilers so the rest of this post is under the cut. I'll also briefly allude to The Hidden Inventory arc as that is relevant to this movie.

To start us off, it's just a visually gorgeous movie, I'm not really one for discussing technical aspects, so I'll leave that to others, only noticeable bit I thought didn't stack up was the CG centipede curses Geto had in the last battle (the ones Yuji destroys with Inumaki's power in the form of a microphone), they blend in with the style and are done great, just slightly noticeable.

Adaptation wise, this one's really rock solid, as I figured most of the expansion occurred in the big Night of 1000 Spirits fight near the end where we got to see cameos and fights from other characters like Nanami, the Kyoto kids and Mei Mei (though, now that I'm looking at the 0 chapters, Mei Mei does make a few minor appearances in the manga with a different looking axe)

Surprisingly, the biggest addition is a post credits scene with Miguel and Yuta in, what the scene leads me to believe is, Kenya, or at least somewhere in Africa. They're having a bit of a chit chat at the cafe when Gojo pops up! Well, that's an extra cliffhanger for me to ponder, I'm still wondering how Miguel goes from working with racist Geto to palling around with Yuta, now I also gotta wonder how Gojo's mixed in. I also wonder if this is a scene from after the arc I'm currently in.

Speaking of that arc, they added a little conversation from it during Geto and Gojo's end talk, I think it's one I've already seen, but not sure. I haven't fully completed the arc, but man, knowing their past even just a bit really does change up how you view some of the conversations and talks happening in 0, which is pretty cool.

That's really everything major I wanted to talk about, it was a fun movie to see and it came with some worthwhile additions. Anyway, see y'all later!

Awwwww I love Maki's gruff inspiration speech that also simultaneously promises Yuta that after this mission they'll be friends

As he has the ring on, makes me think it must be out of the question for Yuta to date if he's haunted by his ghostly fiancée

Also they're not going to elaborate on why Yuta was in the hospital?

"Besides, no one's allowed to take youth away from young people," said Gojo, as if enduring violent battles with murderous apparitions is something that all teenagers do

I don't know how putting Rika's curse in a sword will break it so much as relocate it, but I do love a training montage:

"Maki! You've got a chance!" HAHAHAHA the dating question has finally been raised. Also I love that Panda's qualification for if someone can date Maki is if they also use weapons. The Nobara bond holds true too

I really do like Inumaki. The way he pushes his teammates out of harm's way. His curse essentially being its own kind of chronic illness (me too, buddy!) What a reliable and strong presence he is, even permitting for the fact that it is hard for people to understand him

"Inumaki-kun is kind. He doesn't want to accidentally curse others, so he speaks in rice ball components—words that can't carry curses. Even today, he helped me out. He tried to keep me away from danger." I love that right after I was mentally monologuing about how much I enjoy Inumaki, so too, is Yuta

That is extremely not how cough syrup works but we love a combo attack. [Kakashi voice] Teamwork!

"Once I break Rika-chan's curse, I'll be a normal person." Doesn't bode well for Okkotsu that he's still in this school, hm?

Also since Geto's around, I wonder if this is going to feature the infamous attack we heard mentioned in S1

Seeing that it is the exact same team in the Shinjuku battle really recontextualizes what it must've been like for the Kyoto School to be ambushed during the exchange event. They've really been through it as a school
