The Jinnobi Challenge 2023 Prize (Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan)

Wondering what the prize is for the 2023 Jinnobi Challenge in August?

It's quiobi stickers! You can slap these on anything they stick to and proclaim your love for the Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon ship or you can do what I do when I get cool themed stickers/art stuff and hoard it like some sort of fandom dragon who is afraid of using it on anything and thus never touches it.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ok don't be like me if you win this prize. ;)

Remember entering in this year's challenge will automatically put you in the prize drawing for these stickers (I swear they look better than my crappy phone picture quality shows). If you’re entering multiple times in the chance of winning more, sorry. No matter how many times you enter a work or art in the challenge you’ll only be entered once in the random drawing for the prize.

If you are this year’s winner, I will contact you privately the first week of September to figure out shipping details and such. I’ll announce the winner publicly once I put up the Master List of all the amazing works submitted for the 2023 Jinnobi Challenge! (which will probably be the second week of September)

Jinnobi Challenge 2024 Prize

Quiobi lovers, shippers, and enthusiasts, I want to show you which marvellous prize this year's Jinnobi Challenge had.

It is a 1999 (!!!) poster magazine with various huge posters and pages with descriptions of the TPM characters! And since it was printed before all the non-canon stuff flooded the prequel era, this somehow feels pure and endearing.

The creators of the magazine rightfully asumed that we would want Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan seen as equally important, so they had one on the front cover and one on the back. So for all the people who are used to reading Asian literatue, Obi-Wan is the one you see first.

Her Highness Queen Amidala and General Binks naturally get some of the attention as well, as these two important political figures of Naboo rightfully deserve.

But let's face it: I am here for him. Shocking, I know! But what can I say? If I loved him any more, I would be Obi-Wan! (Here is an example of the information given. It's basically what we see in the movie.)

This is one of the posters. I didn't remove the paper clips, so I can't show you how big it really is. It's very cute, though. I bet some girls had it pinned to their walls back in 1999!

I know there is this HUGE Quiobi poster inside that I really wanted to have... but... I simply cannot remove the paper clips. It would feel like destroying the magazine. And it is from 1999! What shall I do?

And last but not least, I also got a card with a sweet message attached (Thank you!) and this Quiobi sticker. Where shall I put it?

Reminder: The Jinnobi Challenge 2023 starts in less than a month!

Hello everyone! here’s a little reminder about the Jinnobi Challenge! You can get all the Challenge information and FAQ right here, but here’s a quick reminder about a few things.

When is it?: August 1 – August 31 , 2023. Any Jinnobi (also known as quiobi) work you submit must be complete and it must be submitted sometime during the month of August. PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR SUBMISSION BEFORE THE CHALLENGE STARTS.

Who can enter: The challenge is open to writers, artists and everyone in between. Art, poetry, photo manips, videos, gifsets, fanfiction, it’s all welcome. There’s no theme except it has to be Obi-Wan Kenobi/Qui-Gon Jinn.

THERE ARE PROMPTS THIS YEAR IF YOU WANT TO FOLLOW THEM ( you don’t have to though, it’s totally up to you!).

message me with a link(s) to your work(s) once you’ve published it in August so I know to put you on the Master List.

You may use whatever social network or fanfiction site you are comfortable using. Please tag your work with the tag Jinnobi Challenge 2023 or The Jinnobi Challenge 2023 whether it’s a fic, art, or a post and do not forget to send me the link.

Prompts for the Jinnobi Challenge!

Hello everyone! Just a reminder that we are a little more than halfway through the 2023 Jinnobi Challenge (it runs until the end of August).

if you're stumped for ideas but you still want to enter something, (remember there's a prize you can win if you do enter!) don't forget that there are these prompts you can use!

optional 2023 Jinnobi Challenge prompts

1.       Lost outside in bad weather

2.       One character secretly makes a gift for the other character.

3.       A friendly but ongoing disagreement about jedi philosophy/lightsaber technique/force skill.

4.       An undercover mission that doesn’t go as planned.

5.       A kiss at an unexpected time.

these can be as angsty, fluffy, or as AU as you want as long as it follows the rules of the challenge.

I do insist on complete works but that doesn't mean it has to be a long work. drabbles and well done sketches still count as art/fic options for the challenge! :)

Last Day of the the Jinnobi Challenge!

Hello everyone! The 2023 Jinnobi Challenge ends today (although I’ll let people post on September 1st as well, due to time differences in various countries) and I want to thank everyone who participated!

If you still want to be a part of this challenge and possibly win the drawing prize, don’t forget if you posted any completed qui/obi work this month, be it fic, art, moodboard, fancy edit, etc. it probably qualifies! You can check out the rules here just to be sure, but chances are you can tag it Jinnobi Challenge 2023, send me the link to the work(s) and be a part of this year’s Challenge.

If you’re like me and often wait till the last week to do a Challenge, don’t worry, I do accept drabbles and linework/sketches as complete works and those can be entered. Check out the optional prompts here if you’re looking for last minute inspiration!

The Jinnobi Challenge 2021 Prize (Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan)

Hello everyone!

So I’m sure you’ve all been wondering what the prize for this year’s Jinnobi Challenge will be (if you’ve forgotten all about the challenge, no worries, it’s not until October, I am just obsessively early about things. Read on for link to all info about the challenge.).

Here it is!

For those of you looking at this and thinking, “why should I care about a kid’s magazine from the 90’s?” This isn’t just any magazine, it is a Star Wars poster magazine! Within the folds of this juvenile print there is a giant Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon poster inside. See?

So if you win this prize, you’ll want to open the magazine to the page about Anakin and carefully pull out the staples. When I say carefully I do not mean gnash out with your teeth, or rip gleefully apart with a rusty penknife. I mean careful. Because, once those staples are off the entire magazine folds out to a 34 x 22.5 poster size picture of our beloved Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon.

I am automatically exempting myself (and my sister who is also a Jinnobi artist/writer) from this contest because, as you can see, we already have this glorious poster on the wall of our spare room. Also, yes, I have yet to finish the walls, it’s been a busy past few years and painting stresses me out *shrugs*.

So if you would like to own the beautiful faces of the Jedi Husbands, make sure to enter the Jinnobi Challenge when it happens in October. You can get all the information you need here. 

For those of you who are sneaky toydarians and enter multiple times in the chance of winning more, sorry. No matter how many times you enter a work or art in the challenge you’ll only be entered once in the random drawing for the prize.

 I’ve talked with the USPS and it shouldn’t be a problem to ship paper overseas, so unless you are living in an underground bunker in Antarctica, I will be able to mail this to you if you are the winner, even if you are living on the other side of the world. The drawing will happen after the challenge ends on October 28th. I will contact you privately the first week of November if you are the winner to arrange shipping details and such. I’ll announce the winner publicly once I put up the Master List of all the amazing works submitted for the Jinnobi Challenge!
