The Jinnobi Challenge Master List - 2021

Hello everyone! I’m very pleased to share with you the 2021 Jinnobi Challenge Master List (check out previous master lists here: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020). This year has been a busy one for many of us and I’ve noticed that it can get a little difficult during the month of October to keep up with various fandom challenges. Because of this, I’ve decided to move the Jinnobi Challenge next year to August, so as not to overburden the awesome writers and artists out there doing things for inktober, promptober, or gearing up for nanowrimo. Nothing else about the Jinnobi Challenge will change, it will just be running from August 1 – August 31 from now on!

I’m also thrilled to announce that this year’s winner for the prize drawing of an Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon poster is Temve! Temve has been writing quiobi fics for many years, you can check out her work on A03!

The Jinnobi Challenge - 2021

 Hello everyone! This is quite early, but I like to shout about the Jinnobi Challenge around April so that everyone has plenty of time to get started on work(s). This will be the 5th annual Jinnobi Challenge (previous master lists of submissions : 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020), it’s hard to believe it’s been five years already!

So here’s the rundown of information for those who are thinking of participating in this Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon challenge (I will repost this info periodically as it gets closer to the challenge).

When is it?: The challenge will run from October 1 – October 28, 2021. Any Jinnobi work you submit must be complete and it must be submitted sometime during October 1 – October 28. You have from now until October to work on submissions. PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR SUBMISSION BEFORE THE CHALLENGE STARTS. As of 2019, I have allowed people to post on Oct. 29th, due to time differences in various countries.

Who can enter: The challenge is open to writers, artists and everyone in between. Art, poetry, photo manips, videos, gifsets, fanfiction, it’s all welcome. There’s no theme except it has to be Obi-Wan Kenobi/Qui-Gon Jinn. It can be set during the prequels, the originals, or an AU. It’s up to you. You can submit multiple entries too, if you’d like. For fic writers there’s no limit on the length of your fic(s).

How to enter: Send me a message letting me know you intend to participate (You don’t have to do this step, but it lets me know beforehand how many people are interested in joining).

Once October 1st comes around you’re welcome to post your complete work on whatever social network or fanfiction site you are comfortable using. Please tag your work (if you can tag) with the tag Jinnobi Challenge 2021 or The Jinnobi Challenge 2021 whether it’s a fic, art, or a post.  Message me with a link to your work (or links, if you submit more than one work), once you’ve published it so I know to put it on the master list!

I can also be reached on A03, livejournal, and DeviantArt, but I tend to check tumblr much more regularly so if you want a fast response, I recommend contacting me via that. 

Rules:

1. No underage Jinnobi slash. (underage = below 18 years of age)

2. If you post anything triggering, please tag it with the appropriate warnings

3. Your fic must have a rating on it (the challenge is open to all ratings)

4. If you’re posting a long WIP, the first chapter must be posted on or after October 1, and the last chapter has to be posted before October 28, so I don’t recommend it unless you know you can get it done in that time.

 Need Beta?: If you need a beta, let me know. Last year I had a few people who were interested in betaing, I can’t be sure if it will be the same this year but I can help get the word out if someone is looking. At this present time, I’m not able to beta for others, but please message me if you have any questions about the challenge as I want to keep improving this challenge for the following year.

What if I don’t have anything ready, but I do have a work I happened to post in October?: As long as the quiobi fic (or art, etc) is complete and was posted between the 1st– 28th of October 2021, you can tag it Jinnobi Challenge 2021

 What if it’s not slash?: This challenge celebrates the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan ship. Pre-slash is fine, just please no ‘Qui-Gon as a parent figure to Obi-Wan’ fics as that is not what this challenge is about.

What if it’s a fic in a series?: if it’s a standalone complete story in a series than yes, it qualifies.

What it I already entered it in a different quiobi fic challenge?: The fic must be a new fic posted in October 2021 (no reposting old works unless it’s an extreme rewrite to basically be nothing like the original) and it must be complete. It’s ok with me if it is tagged in another challenge as long as it meets the guidelines for this challenge but you’ll want to check if it’s ok with the other challenge you posted it in.

What if it’s Obi/Qui/others? Or there’s Obi/other, Qui/other, but still Qui/Obi?: The main pairing should still be Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon, even if it’s poly, or if there are other partners or past/present relationships.

Is there a prize this year?: Yes! I want to continue having a prize each year. Each person who enters in the challenge will be automatically entered once into a drawing and I will randomly draw a name once the challenge is over. This year’s prize will be a giant poster of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon! (I’ll have a more detailed post about the prize in a few weeks)

By the first or second week of November, I’ll put up a master post with links to all the amazing stuff everyone has created!!!

2020 Jinnobi Challenge Update

Hi everyone, here is a quick 2020 Jinnobi Challenge update!

As most of you know the annual challenge takes place in October and celebrates the Obi-Wan Kenobi/Qui-Gon Jinn ship. All the information you need is right here. It’s open to all writers, artists and anyone in between.

However, here’s something new I’m adding to this year’s challenge because I think we are all in desperate need of cheering up. There is now a PRIZE for entering the contest. This year’s prize (yes I hope to do this every year from now on) is a bar pendant! This stainless steel necklace is stamped/engraved with a word on each side of the bar. The front says ‘Jinnobi’ and the back ‘2020’ (I custom ordered this before I realized that 2020 would be such a dumpster fire of a year). On one side it says ‘Qui-Gon’ and the other side ‘Obi-Wan’.

Regardless of what you enter (art, edits, podfics, fics, etc.), you will be put into a drawing for the pendant. Of course, you may submit as many works as you like to the challenge, but you will only be entered once into the drawing no matter if you submit 1 work or 100 works (sorry). When the challenge is done, I will post a video of the drawing and an announcement regarding the winner. I’ll then contact the winner privately to arrange how they want the pendant sent to them.

So that’s all! Nothing has changed about the Challenge rules, just that if you enter something this year you do have a chance of winning this beautiful pendant to proudly proclaim your love for the jinnobi ship!
