So, the other day while swiping through some YT shorts, the algorithm presented me with a recent BossNoeul clip of one of those product endorsement livestreams which คู่จิ้น /koo jin/ do all the time and which I think are fun linguistically - because they're so fast-paced, there's often a lot of wordplay going on. BossNoeul are good at this, they're both quick on their feet and play into each other, but Boss especially. It shows that he used to be a VJ/streamer on Vibie Live!

So I'm watching this subbed clip and I can't hear shit because the op put loud music over their voices (here's a short subbed compilation without bg music) but I wanna know what 'I' pronoun Noeul used for this sugar daddy bit 😂 Naturally, I go searching for an upload of the entire livestream and watch way more of it than I have time for only to be stumped once I do find that section:

ฟ้ารักพ่อ /faa rak por/ = Fah loves daddy/father.

Eh? That's not a pronoun, that's a name? Did I miss a series announcement and that's Noeul's character's name?

Turns out it's a meme! It goes back to a drama called ดอกส้มสีทอง /daawk sohm see taawng/ (=gold-colored orange blossom) where a character called Fah ฟ้า famously said that line to a way older married man she's having an affair with whom she calls พ่อ /por/.

...and I found this out through a Workpoint clip explaining why tweets about ธนาธร จึงรุ่งเรืองกิจ, aka former Future Forward Party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, often got tagged #ฟ้ารักพ่อ 😂

In short, it's a DILF or sugar daddy thing lmao and I guess it gained traction again recently because of this song with the same name by Badmixy that Noeul even references in the upper clip when he sings the line My sugar daddy~ And what an incredible MV omg WHO does it like Thai queers 👏

Jin-su was currently bundled in a towel, snuggled against Jong-su, enveloped in one arm. Jin-su had arms around his father's neck where he hid his face. The child had returned to his typical human form - all aside from the panther-like ears poking out and the long, swaying serpentine tail which went way past the towel.

La saison 2 de l’anime phénomène Solo Leveling-Arise from the Shadow- est annoncée ! Le problème est que la date est toujours inconnu au moment où ce billet est publié. Vraisemblablement pour la fin d'année si tout se déroule correctement...

Hâte de continuer à suivre les aventures du chasseur le plus faiblard Sun Jin Woo imaginé par le dessinateur sud-coréen Chugong (aux éditions Kbooks) et du dessinateurJang Seong Rak alias DUBU (malheureusement décédé à l'âge de 37 ans en 2022). L'anime, produit par A1-Pictures, est une adaptation du roman Na Hanjaman Level Up, avec une déclinaison en webtoon, débuté en juillet 2016 pour un total de 14 tomes.

Bon ok, maintenant il est quasiment invincible avec sa nouvelle classe de Nécromancien avec toujours pour ambition : récolter l'élixir de vie. Mais attention, ce n'est pas forcément une promenade de santé car les monstres sont devenus également de plus en plus puissants.

Winter 2024 Must See Dungeon Break: Solo Leveling

You all probably don’t need me to say it, but Solo Leveling is a must-see going into the Winter 2024 season. This is a huge title in the dungeon break genre and a complete series with full translation available on TappyToon.

Solo Leveling is based on the popular webtoon and novel of the same name, written by Chugong. The story follows the journey of Sung Jin-Woo, an E-rank hunter who discovers he has the unique ability to level up, transforming from the weakest hunter to the most powerful necromancer in this action-packed dungeon-break world.

What has always drawn me to the series is the art and action. The art in this webtoon is nothing short of breathtaking, with special attention to using elements of light in the otherwise darkened panels. It helps to bring an intenseness to battle scenes that are hard to describe, as well as bring to life an expanse of feelings to non-action moments. It incorporates elements of mystery, thriller, and suspense that shows off the best parts and versatility of the dungeon break genre.

The best way I can think to describe it is that, despite being a stationary image, one feels like the characters are moving in a meticulously choreographed way, blending stunning visuals with the fluidity of scrolling that I hope transitions well into the animation coming out this season. The late artist, Dubu, also known as Jang Sung-Rak, was renowned for his style which did a lot to set the tone and mood for the story, and nowhere is this more evident than in the original webtoon version. The webtoon created an immersive experience while reading, engaging me to binge-read the novel over the course of a weekend. If you haven’t checked Solo Leveling out yet, I suggest you do prior to the start of this animated adaptation as both will leave you on the edge of your seat at the end of nearly every chapter!

Solo Leveling has undoubtedly made a name for itself as an exceptional series, and I think it will hit an even wider audience as it makes its animated debut. So, definitely check it out this January on Crunchyroll!

Ketika Zailun berjalan dari terminal ke arah teritori Klan Lu Li, dia menyadari bahwa dia masih mengingat setiap arah dan belokan menuju rumahnya. Xicheng hanya membawanya kemari sekali, menemui keluarganya dengan harapan bahwa dia bisa membawanya sebagai omeganya.

Siapa yang tahu jika mereka harus kandas hari itu juga.

Zailun dapat melihat dirinya sendiri dan Xicheng, bersandar di pepohonan ketika mereka mengira bahwa mereka hanya berteman, jauh sebelum mereka mengenali perasaan satu sama lain. Dan ketika dia berpikir bahwa mereka memiliki waktu sebanyak yang mereka inginkan. Ketika dia berpikir bahwa dunia berputar mengikuti mereka berdua.

“Dia tak pernah mendekorasi ulang?”

“Tidak,” tawanya. “Terlalu banyak pekerjaan.” Xicun Li menoleh ke belakang omega itu, mengernyit. “Kau tak membawa pendamping?” ketika dia tak menjawab, dia menghela nafas. “Tunggu sebentar, aku akan selesai sebentar lagi.”

“Tidak apa-apa,” balasnya. “Aku akan masuk kalau begitu.”

Xicun Li benar, karena Zailun masih bisa mengenali semua yang ada di dalam sana. Walaupun Xicheng hanya membawanya masuk dari pintu depan sekali, dia selalu menyelinap masuk ke kamarnya ketika waktu menunjukkan pukul sepuluh malam ke atas, sebelum lari di pagi harinya.

Dia melihat sebuah bingkai, di dalamnya adalah sebuah foto Xicheng bersama anak-anaknya, dengan wanita yang tak dia kenali.

“Apa kau Primrose?” suara gadis kecil menyapanya dan dia berputar.

Gadis itu mengenakan gaun yang dipita di dadanya, tangannya memeluk sebuah boneka. Zailun tersenyum padanya. “Maaf?”

“Primrose,” ulangnya. “Diedie menyimpan sebuah lukisan–”

“Yue-er,” tegur seseorang dan Xicheng muncul, mengelus kepalanya. “Kenapa kamu tidak menyelesaikan tugasmu? Die harus bicara dengan Jiujiu ini.”

“Die,” panggil Yuelung, mendekat dan meletakkan tangannya di telinga sang ayah, berbisik padanya. “Apa dia Primrose?”

Xicheng tertawa gugup. “Selesaikan tugasmu lalu tidur sianglah, Yue-er.” Gadis itu memajukan bibir bawahnya, kecewa, sebelum berjinjit untuk mencium pipi ayahnya dan berlari ke ruangannya.

Zailun masih memperhatikan semuanya, merasa canggung, hingga Xicheng berdiri dan menatapnya. Ketika dia tak mengatakan apapun, dia tertawa kecil. “Anakmu sungguh manis.”

Alpha itu mengangguk. “Yuelung adalah yang tertua,” dia menjelaskan. “Kenapa kita tidak pergi ke ruang kerjaku saja?”

Dia tak pernah berada di sisi ini sebelumnya. Mungkin karena ruangan ini sebenarnya adalah milik pemimpin klan dan alpha utama, sementara dulu Xicheng masihlah seorang pewaris. Zailun memperhatikan satu dinding yang menyatu dengan rak buku, sementara di tengahnya adalah sebuah tirai marun tertutup. Meja kerjanya rapi, tumpukan kertas tertata di sudut meja dengan pena di sampingnya.

Xicheng memperhatikannya. “Aku tak pernah membawamu kemari ‘ya?”

Zailun berbalik, tersenyum. “Tak pernah,” bisiknya. “Tapi bukan itu yang ingin kubicarakan.” Alpha itu bersandar di dinding, tangan bersedekap. “Soal Liegou Wang,” mulainya.

“Oh,” gumamnya. “Kau datang memberikan jawabanmu?”

“Aku datang untuk meminta waktu lebih,” ralatnya. “Sedikit sulit untukku jika harus meninggalkan klanku. Aku ingin meminta waktu lebih – atau bahkan, jika aku lancang, aku ingin memintamu menarik kesepakatanmu.”

“Kalian tak menginginkan Liegou Wang.”

“Apa kau bahkan menginginkan Liegou Wang?”

“Aku tak mempertaruhkan klanku untukmu, Zailun,” ucapnya. “Bukankah kau memintaku untuk tak pernah melakukan itu?”

Dia menelan ludah, mengingat. “Aku tahu,” balasnya. “Aku tak pernah melupakan kata-kataku.” Zailun berbalik. “Jika kau menginginkan omega, aku mengenal beberapa yang baik di klanku. Aku yakin kau akan menyukainya, mungkin dia akan lebih baik dari kesepakatan yang sekarang ini–”

“Aku tak menginginkan mereka,” bisiknya. Dan Zailun tak menyadari bahwa dia telah berdiri di sampingnya, meletakkan tangannya di bawah dagunya dan mengangkat kepalanya, hidung mereka bersentuhan. “Kau tahu itu.”

“Jangan buat ini sulit,” balasnya.

“Aku tidak.”

“Satu minggu,” ucap Zailun lagi. “Beri aku satu minggu, dan mungkin aku akan berpikir untuk masuk ke klanmu.” Xicheng menatapnya. “Aku takkan lari. Kau mengenalku dengan jelas.”

Alpha itu mengangguk, menunduk dan meletakkan dahinya di atas dahi omega itu, menutup mata. Ketika Xicheng menarik nafas, dia dapat merasakan apa yang tengah dia lakukan, jadi dia mendorongnya perlahan.

“Jangan scent aku,” tegurnya.

“Maaf.”

Namun Zailun sudah dapat menghirup aroma cendana dan tanah setelah hujan, begitu dia kenali.

Begitu dia rindukan.
