The Actor’s Roles

The Actor is the main character in the multi-ending stories. He’s the one the viewer gets along with, he plays the roles.

He “kills off” his character to play a new one. A convict when in prison, a pirate when out at sea, an handsome adventurer when lost in tunnels. He is the one you trust.

After everything is over though? The characters he played take on their own life, their own separate identities. They have their own backstories, happy or sad. They have their own memories.

But they all came from the Actor. His “children” he calls them, because they came from him.

Later on there’s the private investigator turned serial killer. The anxiety ridden amputee. The divorced water man.

The Actor watches as they all gain life, sentience and individuality. How they gain more memories than he’d given them. How they become Egos. He smiles when he sees them going about the lives that he gave them.

He’s not the only Ego with “children” however.

Darkiplier both directly and indirectly made the Engineer and the Jims.

Google has three other versions of himself.

Annus has his own creations, along with his partner Unus.

Often times the Actor finds himself jealous. The others get to spend time with their children. Their creations see them as family. He knows that his never will, and he blames Dark.

I cannot get this cosplay performance out of my head, and I wanna share it with y'all so here goes:

It's a "duet" of "No Children" by The Mountain Goats, performed by The Actor and Darkiplier. Mark is on guitar, Dark's at the piano

I know this song is like THE divorce song in every fandom, but like... it's so impactful and intense and accurate, dude, it's really hard not to vibe with it lol

Mark sings the first verse, and is the only one with any sort of spotlight on him. You can still clearly hear the piano, but you can't see Dark clearly yet...

Until the second verse, where the lights come up and we see two Darkipliers (I put "duet" in quotes earlier because it's really a trio). No real distinct characteristics are necessary, they can just be two Darks lol

They switch off singing every other line until the infamous "I am drowning" part, and either one is playing the bass and the other's playing the treble or all four hands are on the piano. Piano duets are real, they're kickass, and I'm sure we can make it work.

Anyway, it's just as tense and uncomfortable and passive-aggressive as the original song is, no need to change the tone or anything. The three are sending eachother glares and scowls over their shoulders throughout the song, and naturally it ends with them abandoning their instruments and beating the shit out of eachother

Two Jims for three asks! @mojodojoken 💙

Some headcanons! The Jims are biological clones of each other, and asexually reproduce which leads to them simply being all over the manor. Bing started a group chat where egos would post Jim spottings and they could try and see just how Many of them are around at a time. Dr. Iplier even did an experiment to see what would happen if there was a single Jim in a room, seeing how they’re always seen in pairs, and reported that a single Jim would simply Split into two if left alone for over a minute-! Ed considered selling them for a 2 for 1 deal after learning this and had to be stopped from separating them 😭

Jims tend to have dark brown hair and light freckles from their field work, are on the shorter side of egos (mainly from not standing Normally), full of energy and love doing little tasks. They try to be “professional” for their broadcasted work (see Reporter Jim’s fake glasses-), but can be childish and fun seeking! They want to be friends with everyone in the manor! If they’re not working, they tend to wear the same clothing and spend all their time with other Jims :)
