Jikook Week 22 Complete ✔️(07 - 14/05/2024)

Their twenty second week in the military is now complete and time to celebrate this milestone with a look back at this week in 2014. Skool Luv Affair come out in February 2014 and promos for Boy in Luv and then Just One Day had taken place between February and April 2014.

This week in May 2014, the Skool Luv Affair Special Addition was released.

BTS members though were between promotions and with plenty of free time on their hands. This was the era of the Jikook vlogs and they came live the night of 14/15th May to tell us about how they had been spending their downtime including a whole lot of dance practice and an all member trip to the Han River.

They even saw a movie together and something about it had Jimin all giggly and embarrassed. Did we ever find out what they watched?

Jimin was in his, I don't know what hit me phase, obviously wrestling with his feelings but not ready or able to put a name to them. He is so transparent and sincere, putting himself right out there without a safety net on a live broadcast.

That kind of honesty is nerve wracking to watch. I doesn't matter how many times I see this, I always find myself holding my breath, only releasing it when the conversation moves into safer waters with JK talking about his prowess at skimming stones on the Han River.

Also this week, photos from their last promo stage in March 2014 were released.......

When I watched Jimin's choreography for Stuck with you for the hundredth time, I wondered if the part of the song he was dancing to was chosen on purpose. Just looking at the numbers, no math required.

If you take the 1,1 and 8 out of it you are left with the also very known Jikook combination of 123.

So, in the date alone we have 11-8 and 123.

The whole thing with the 123 theory is that we think we know where it originated (might have meant something to them way before but that's the first time it's mentioned) - Festa 2014 JM's profile Just one day MV at 1:23 min. represents him best. JK was by his side while filling out that profile. Since then we have had song recommendations ending at 1:23 min., posts timed at 12:30 or 1:23 am, posts on January 23rd etc. We know there is very possibly something going on with that sequence of numbers, but what it is exactly or more so, what it means to them exactly, we don't know.

Let's get into, shall we?

The yellow background with the purple question mark.

Yellow and Purple reminds me of two people, Jimin and Jungkook. Its their colors

We saw these colors stand out here too:

Jimin released two solo albums: FACE and MUSE.

In both these albums Jungkook was mentioned.

Jimin said that he did not want to include any other artists in FACE because the album was too personal. But Jungkook was a part of FACE. He was credited for doing background vocals for LETTER.

In my opinion Jimin was very much capable of doing the bg vocals for LETTER just like how he carried the rest of the song excellently on his own. The only reason he wanted Jungkook in the song was because:

1) It is a song Jimin wrote for and with Jungkook in mind

2) FACE is an autobiographical album. Its personal to Jimin. And Jungkook is an important and irreplaceable part in Jimin's personal life

3) Jimin is singing (reading a love letter) to Jungkook and Jungkook's voice in the bg is like he is answering/acknowledging Jimin's letter

Now we will get back to MUSE.

In MUSE too Jungkook gets mentioned. Directly and Indirectly.

That face in the billboard resembles a man's facial structure.

In my opinion, it is Jungkook

Jimin's singing "Who is my heart waiting for" and the billboard falls down as an answer to his question. Cause it literally falls down after Jimin sings "Who is my heart waiting for".

Because its the person in the billboard whom his heart was waiting for all along. Also, there's no question mark after the WHO in that billboard. Again, because the person in the billboard is the WHO he was waiting for. It is no more a question but an answer. He is showing us the answer to his question.

And the MV ends with a little rainbow.

Taeyang had done this exact same thing with the billboard in his ENL MV in 2014.

In ENL Taeyang showed his girlfriend, who is now his wife, on a billboard and later he announced that they were dating.

When I heard about this I immediately got reminded of Jikook in 2016 during their PUMA fan sign event.

On April 2 2016 a fan spotted Jimin wearing a Pororo band aid and asked him where he got it from. Jimin said Jungkook gave it to him. Jungkook was also wearing the same band aid. It was Jungkook's idea that both of them wear the same band aids.

Both of them weren't hurt or injured but was just wearing those band aids.

Why were they wearing it if they weren't injured?

For this let's go back to Jan 2016.

On Jan 24 2016 Zico released I'm You're, You're Me MV. In the MV, Zico and his romantic interest are seen wearing similar band aids.

So, I think its not new for Jikook to do such romantic couple things.

To me it felt like he was subtly asserting his truth to the world.

I am so not good at words and I have so much feelings and the type to feels so so much. I’ve felt this feelings for years since I become an Army. I’ll never shut up the fact that I’ve been with bts and watching jikook since 2014.

it just surreal to see them never change but at the same time remind how me myself never change too. it wasn’t change, it was growth. Jimin and Jungkook growing up, Jimin being less vocal how much he loves jungkook doesn’t mean he’s not. Jungkook pushed him away, doesn’t mean he hates him. They were 18 & 16, Passionate & Shy.

the 18 year old me, first year in college binging every bts contents on youtube, twitter any platform i can get. I still remember when my roommate recommended bts to me, she showed me ‘We are Bulletproof Pt.2’ MV. Jimin caught my eyes right that moment. He’s definitely my type!.

As I become obsessed with bts, I got obsessed with jimin. Everything about him, I love him as he being himself, that passionate young jimin might be embarrassing and funny to watch now as we get older. It’s a sweet memories.

I get it Jimin adores Jungkook since the debut, even before pre debut. He was constantly show and said He loves Jungkook so much. I get him Jungkook have this cuteness about him. I mean even to this day Jungkook is a heartthrob.

Naturally I adores them both, The bangtan bomb where Jimin looking for Jungkook still fresh in my mind. I love seeing them together playing around,talking, teasing each others.

it’s like a serendipity (?) when I think about it deeper. I Didn’t ship them when I saw jikook content or analysis videos. NOPE. I love bts as them seven, but I didn’t plan to love jikook so much until today. It just happened naturally.

It happened naturally when I love jimin, I love everything about him, I see him so I see jungkook, see his affection for him, He cares for Jungkook. loving them made me discover ‘ship’ culture. To this day being in the ship culture is very toxic.

Shipping culture don’t do justice to whatever Jimin and Jungkook have. Their relationship is not just some ship. It’s not even close compare to any other ships in bts or out.

it’s still crazy to me as someone who have been here adoring them both. ‘AYS’ happened felt like a dream. It’s dramatic yes, other people probably won’t understand. Jimin has always careful with his actions and words. the fact he wanted to show us and do this show, I really really really appreciate him doing this for himself and for us.

Hi, I’ve been a BTS fan for a long time since 2014 and I got into kookmin around 2017. During my time in the fandom, I’ve noticed that other ships don’t have dedicated translators. I’m wondering why they are accounts dedicated to just translating jikook and why you decided to also translate the interaction between JM and JK.

Hi, thanks for your interesting message.

Hmm, I think the biggest reason was that I noticed many times Jikook moments were not addressed or translated properly. And most often than not, the context of their interactions requires more than just a simple tweet with a translation of what was said. So I originally started providing more cultural context on Twitter and that came hand in hand with translations. And with that I also started addressing mistranslations that were spread by jikookers to hopefully put at least some to rest, since there are plenty of heart-warming moments between Jimin and Jungkook without the need to alter any facts.

I'd say the other 'ships' have no dedicated translators because e.g. the biggest community around a ship in the BTS fandom is purely surviving on mistranslations and actively taking advantage of the linguistic and cultural gap between Korean and English. If they started actually understanding properly what was said, that would be no fertile ground for their narratives so it's understandable they are not quite interested in facts and well-informed discussions :)

I'll be honest.

It seems like Jimin and Jungkook probably weren't in each other's lives for a good while during 2022/early 2023.

Jungkook has definitely gotten closer with Tae meanwhile.

Jungkook's vibes towards Jimin feels very different. Ofcourse there's banter, laughter, playfulness, skinship, he took care of sick Jimin and all that. But Jk seems different. It's like I am watching 2013/2014 Jungkook and jikook all over again.

Something has changed between them. And they seemed like they were trying to work on re establishing their bond through those trips.

~Jikook’s relationship~

Anon, I won’t post other blog’s opinion about jikook’s relationship, but I can give you my own opinion.

I think Jungkook and Jimin are in a longterm committed relationship. Destiny brought them together and they decided to act on their feelings despite being idols in the same group in a homophobic country.

They were the closest duo since Jimin came into Bighit in 2012. They really adored each other. In 2014 their dynamics have changed. From Jimin’s side it’s hard to tell when he started to feel more towards Jungkook, but Jungkook was like an open book. I think after they came back from USA Jungkook slowly started to feel more, but he didn’t even realize it. Only in 2015. Their tension in summer 2015 had to be insane. Jimin’s fainting before concert in August 2015 could be a crucial moment. And November 8th 2015 is definitely the most important date for them, since they always refer to this date. Something big happend on this day. Then in 2016 they were already intimate and in 2017 at Jungkook’s graduation they already looked like official couple.

Even if they were broken up some times for a while or had a break, they didn’t have to be with anyone else. It’s part of their dynamics and they are way too deep into each other.

They aren’t only platonic, because we had a chance to see them being intimate and sexual and referring to sex many times.

Moreover they are part of each others families. Their parents and brothers love them and support them. 🥹

Now it’s 2023, nearly 8 years have past, a lot has happend and they are still here. Still together despite everything.

Jikook Week 44 Complete (08/10-15/10/2024)

Their 44th week in the military is now complete. It's time to celebrate with a look back at this week in 2014.

This was the Dark & Wild era and in researching this post I was drawn back to Beyond the Story to reread what the members and particular J-Hope & V said about promoting Danger, the title track.

"All those performances for "Danger" were really exhausting. When we had that comeback with "Danger" releasing the Dark & Wild album, we'd done about twenty music show pre-recordings and then went to a different program where they announced first place. We were told we had to be there, so we went up there live, completely out of it. Then, it turned out we weren't even candidate for first place, which I think was a big shock." J-Hope

"It's fine if other teams are named as candidates for first place. We just need to work harder. But at the broadcasting stations, we'd always be the first to say hello and greet everyone, the seonbaes and the hubaes alike, but some people just ignored us and passed right by. Or mocked us for not being candidates for the top place.

After the broadcast, we all got into the van together...... Someone was crying, someone was getting really mad, and someone just couldn't speak. The unspeakable disappointment and that tear-jerking emotion was too much

That's when we thought, 'Hey us, let's do really well. So that no one will ever look down on us again.' Looking back, I'm glad we at least got a hold of ourselves back then (laughs). Because we all found our resolve, we had that determination and we all came together as one, swearing to become a really awesome group together" V

That belief that they were in this together and they only had each other comes out very strongly in their SM posts of the time and can perhaps be best illustrated by vmin's TwiX posts. These two romantic & sensitive 95 liners were also ambitious & determined to succeed together with their team.

This week in 2014 was the tail end of the Danger promo period and images and videos from previous performances were released.

For their Music Bank show there was a mission challenge to make a heart for the audience during the performance.

It's such a complete contrast their gentle laddish camaraderie in the dressing room compared to the tough macho attitudes they were portraying on stage.

Even with the difficulties facing them off stage as soon as the lights went up they delivered smash performances EVERY SINGLE TIME.

This week was also countdown to the the Red Bullet Tour (17-19/10/2014) and the release of War of Hormone (21/10/2014).

I thought it's an "established knowledge" among most Jikookers that Jimin fell for JK since the very beginning days like in 2013 or 2014, so when did Jimin go through different people? And why, since he was already madly in love with JK?

Linking my MV analysis first for those who want to read:

Like I said..my MV analysis was not to validate any ship. You are right though, most jikookers have a timeline:

"Jimin falling first in 2013, JK crushing back on him by 2015 (by that time Jimin was not that bold), then them getting together in 2017 finally."

But isn't that all speculation at the end of the day?

Read on to find why MUSE album is not about Jimin's 'personal life':

Jimin clearly said that the album is about feeling inspired, feeling excited. 'MUSE' is something/someone that inspires and excites you to make art. The album is centered around finding inspiration. Love comes in all forms- love for art/love for a person. 'Who' in a romantic sense is about finding love, but as clearly mentioned in a few articles about the album, MUSE album is the result of Jimin trying to find inspiration. It translates to Jimin doing the type of music he likes, experimenting- from a marching band like song to slow rnb/pop, afrobeats to 2000s pop main track, the range is huge here.

So in the MV, Jimin going through different people doesn't literally mean he was going through them in real life. It's the "story" of him trying to find inspiration and searching for what his heart wants. But in the end he kinda fails (it still doesn't mean that he 'fails' to find inspiration). Not everything has to have a start and end, or absolute explanation. Things are pretty open ended here.

Even if you relate the MV's story to his personal life, just remember what he said-

And your ask is exactly the type of misinterpretation he is talking about, lol. He clearly told RM that he hasn't felt the feeling of 'excitement' of a 'crush' or 'unrequited love' for a long time and in the album it seems like he's describing feelings of finding someone new that would bring out those feelings. Does this mean he is lying to RM? No. This album is him embodying these feelings. Similar to what JK said for Golden : "the lyrics are not autobiographical". He didn't have to clarify that, but he still did.

Which basically means that Jimin is neither single nor is he in any type of 'new love'. Which leaves one option - he is in a long term relationship.

While FACE was personal- about losing people, betrayal, loneliness, depression, and getting back stronger; MUSE is a conceptual album. A concept should be taken at face value, without relating it to life of the artist. Jimin knows about the interpretations that fans made for FACE and he never commented on them, because he openly had said that the lyrics are to be taken for what they are. It's the most he could reveal without being too detailed. But now that he knows his fans, he expects them to make theories about his personal life like we did with FACE. Only this time, like he said, we are most likely to misunderstand.
