never been part of a tag game, sounds really fun! tagged by dear Lanvender, @khan-crete
Do you make your bed? A freshly decrumbed, stuffed animal arranged and dirty clothes removed bed feels great. How often do I do this? We mustn't ask (like once or twice a month) that's all making the bed entails for me, I just have a fitted then normal sheet and blankets
Favorite Number? 4 4 4 4 4! I've loved four my entire life she is like a goddess to me. 2+2 2*2 2^2, divides into halves twice. can only compete with sixteen, whose status and 2^4 and 4^2 is nice, but not as symmetric. 37 and 73 have a place in my heart as the 12th and 21st primes, but not a large place compared to 4
What's your job? What do I get paid for? undergrad lab TA, what do I do? grad research in low energy nuclear physics
If you could go back to school, would you? In school technically still. Would I rewind time to experience school again? highschool no college yes. would I go back for another college degree? I could be convinced if it would be cheap and unobtrusive to my current schooling. Was always torn between physics and linguistics. I made the right choice but I always wonder what if.
Can you Parallel Park? I have done it, on the driving test, like four or five years ago. I think I could do it again, but not too confident
Do you think Aliens are real? Eh, probably in a 'the observable universe 9.3e+9 ly across, it must have happened more than once' kinda way, but not in a 'they've been feeding us tech for thousands of years or are visiting us' kinda way.
Can you drive a manual car? Never tried, hubris tell me yes, anxiety with even normal cars tells me I'd probably fuck up the transmission while trying to leave the driveway. gonna say yeag
Guilty Pleasure? I think like cheesy childhood disney live action movies?, generally I'm pretty full chested about the things I enjoy
Favorite Type of Music? yeah, hard, a lot of vocaloid, which isn't reallly a genre, a lot of edm genres from like old school monstercat, a lot of jrock by way of anime OP's of show's I've never watched then finding other songs by those artists. some rock music though that genre is also extremely expansive and I'm not sure how I'd categorize a lot of it. Generally my music consumption consists of a group of maybe five songs completely unrelated on repeat for months at a time and genre is not a huge factor in that
Do you like puzzles? twisty puzzles like rubik's cube type puzzles are really fun working, towards doing a 3x3 blindfolded but challenging, I used to do jigsaw's with my mom but over the course of a very long time because we'd get frustrated. crosswords, but I'm no good at them
Favorite Childhood Sport? Soccerrrr. Wish I'd stayed with it, but there were only a couple more years before there wasn't a league for my age group anyway, been trying to get back into it recreationally
Do you talk to yourself? I do, but as if I'm talking to someone else. I prefer not to do it because I'm not content with my voice atm, but I find myself doing it a lot especially when getting stuck on research stuff trying to talk it out or I will say a comment to someone I disagree with outloud rather than typing it and posting it. A lot of this is to my reflection which is probably part of the reason it feels like someone else lol
Tea or Coffee? tea all the way. drank iced sweet black tea my entire childhood and started drinking it hot with milk in college. I was the kind of person that disliking coffee was a sort of pillar of my tastes, but then a few years ago made it with like half milk and a lot of sugar and like it, lotta people wouldn't call that coffee, but eh.
First thing you wanted to be when you grew up? The actual first thing was everything. I would amalgamate like all the stereotypes of things kids want to be into one so a firefighter-astronaut-whatever else. When I got a better sense of my interests, inventor, so I guess like product designer, but what that meant to me was I got to sit around and think of neat gadgets and items then figure out how to make them like freeze ray, time machine, clone gun, that kind of thing lol. the first practical idea of a job I wanted was theoretical physicist in like middle school, which I kinda am now so success I guess
What Movies do you Adore? not much of a movie person, but like to watch movies other people are interested in with them, love castle in the sky, LOTR, howl's moving castle, your name, probably others in those categories I don't know about yet or have forgotten and I have a strong soft spot for childhood halloween movies like twitches and halloweentown
I'm curious what @arc-archernar and @charyou-tree have got to say if they'd like to, and anyone else that wants to participate!

Get To Know Me Tag
Tagged by @telomeke @lurkingshan @my-rose-tinted-glasses @he-is-lightning-in-a-bottle and @hyeoni-comb thank you all! 💕
Do you make your bed?
I like a messy bed, it feels more welcoming to me somehow. The only time I make my bed is when I'm without heat and it's winter, then you gotta do it to keep in any residual warmth! But normally I'd rather keep everything loose.
What’s your favorite number?
I....don't think I have one? Is this a thing people have, how do you choose?
What is your job?
I manage a team of Product Owners in the Operations division of a multinational company. In other words, I go to a lot of meetings.
If you could go back to school, would you?
Absolutely not. Beyond the fact that I was formerly a substantive editor of university textbooks, which included both editing the textbook content and sometimes writing their ancillaries (tests, powerpoint slides, etc.) so it feels like I took first-year Sociology at least ten times, I just don't love formalized education. I love learning but on my own terms and at my own pace.
Can you parallel park?
I can't drive at all! Technically I learned how, took lessons and everything, but never got my license.
A job you had that would surprise people?
Hmm. I was a call center person for half a day, it was terrible and I left without getting paid for the work I did because I was so eager to get out of there I didn't want to fight them for my pay (even though I needed the money which is why I was there in the first place). I hate phone calls, I can't hear well on the phone, and it was clear the call center script was designed to be exploitative. It was one of the worst jobs for me I could have taken lol
Do you think aliens are real?
I think it's extremely likely!
Can you drive a manual car?
Nope, even when I learned, it was only on an automatic.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
I'm not guilty about it but I can decimate an entire family size mac and cheese when I'm feeling down.
Tattoos?
I have 3 tattoos; one on each foot and one on the back of my neck. They form a rainbow.
Favorite color?
Blue-green! The shade of preference for any given moment varies, but anything in the region from mint to aqua to teal to turquoise will do; I love them all.
Favorite type of music?
My music taste varies widely but the common denominators are 1) fast tempo or upbeat, 2) solid harmonies, and 3) if there's a tempo or key change I am doubly sold.
Do you like puzzles?
Love puzzles of all kinds. I have a collection of jigsaw puzzles I do regularly, and word puzzles, logic puzzles, sudoku type stuff is all very fun. I don't make a lot of time for them but I do them occasionally and always enjoy it.
Any phobias?
I am afraid of falling. Not heights, but falling. The difference is: I can lean over the railing at the top of a 20-storey building or walk on a glass floor over a big drop and just feel a minor thrill, but am terrified to the point of maybe crying if I have to balance on a single step of a ladder or walk across a patch of ice. I had several brushes with death related to falling when I was a kid, and a few bad falls that caused injury as an adult, so it makes sense. Luckily I am pretty tall so I rarely have to do any kind of ladder-ing!
Favorite childhood sport?
American-style tackle football. We used to play at lunch on the pavement because the soccer kids got the field; we played in all seasons including snow, and we did it for love of the sport. I loved it a lot.
Do you talk to yourself?
Occasionally I'll provide a little commentary on what's happening aloud to myself; but I don't really have fully conversations.
What movies do you adore?
I have loved a lot of movies in my time! A few random ones that come to mind right now because I've been thinking about them for whatever reason are Saving Face (2004), Monster (2023), Practical Magic (1998), Moonlight (2016), and Clue (1985).
Coffee or tea?
Despite my username being a type of tea, in this as in all things I am a perfect Kinsey 3. Love both equally and drink a ton of both (coffee more regularly, tea in greater volume).
First thing you wanted to be growing up?
Lifeguard, I think! And then when I was in elementary school I wanted to edit textbooks (I was that kid who got annoyed whenever there were mistakes), so I did actually get to do my childhood dream job.
No pressure tags just going with vibes based on who I've interacted with recently (if you've done this already tag me in the comments!): @rocketturtle4 @visualtaehyun @sollucets @troubled-mind @jimmysea @ginnymoonbeam

Lore Drop (Tag Game)
Thank you for the tag @asneakyobserver 😊🙌🏼 appreciate you thinking of me!
Do you make your bed? Yeah, mostly. Not super properly, as I was taught as a kid, but I do pull the bedding up each day to keep the sheets clean (the dogs lay on them otherwise and I don’t like that).
Favourite number: 3. I often buy things (especially grocery products) in threes for literally no reason. Just obsessed with 3. Also fond of nine (because 3x3)
What’s your job? Author. (But I am also now a small business manager - as my side gig, lol)
If you could go back to school, would you? Uni, yes. I’d love to do contemporary art, just for fun. I would also love to do Classics, though I think my brain might object.
Can you parallel park? Yeah. Hate doing it though.
Do you think aliens are real? Yeah, but I’m not interested in them at all. Bit like snakes - respect their existence, but they can exist over there, thank you.
Can you drive a manual car? Yep. Had one when I got my licence and for the first 10+ years I was driving.
What’s your guilty pleasure? YouTube drama videos. Celebrity drama videos. I don’t care about any of it, but hearing about how messed up wealth and fame makes people is weirdly fascinating to me. Psychologically speaking.
Tattoos? Yup 4. I’d have more if I had more money.
Favourite colour? They’re all wonderful 😊 but if pressed to choose, green.
Do you like puzzles? Generally, no. Jigsaw puzzles can be ok if done with a friend. In video games, absolutely not. I don’t want to use my brain when I’m relaxing lol
Any phobias? Not really. Plenty of things I don’t like, but not that seriously I’d call it a phobia.
Favourite childhood sport? Athletics. High jump and long jump specifically.
Do you talk to yourself? All the time. Sometimes without knowing I’m doing it.
Tagging with no pressure whatsoever: @mini-uzzy @krankittoeleven @ainulindaelynn @merelyafigment @my-soliloquy-chamber @liminalspacecowboah @findusinaweek @aeide @aro-pancake Hope you’re all well, lovelies! 🤍

☕️ How do you feel about horror films in the 2010's? What were some of the best and worst to come out of that decade in your opinion?
oh hmmmmm let's look at what i've seen that came out in the 2010s
great, really loved - tucker & dale vs evil (horror comedy that will always be famous. to me.); get out (i like us and nope as well but get out to me is like the tightest writing of the three. and then nope and then us.); it ch1 (i have a fond memory of seeing this on my birthday so i have a bias for it :]); annihilation (i love sci-fi horror films so fucking much. ik there's big differences between the book and the film but i cannot wait to read the book anyway!); mandy (i have got to get high and watch this. epic film)
good, decent film - black swan (i do not get what the discourse is around this movie. no it's not the most mind-blowing film experience but idk ppl act like there's nothing worth redeeming in it.); the cabin in the woods (this is a p good movie, do not get me wrong, but it would've been better without the joss whedon stink on it); paranorman (will probably get bumped up a notch once i've rewatched it tbh); what we do in the shadows (mockumentaries i love u); crimson peak (can i just take a sec to say media literacy is ass on this site bc of that one post about crimson peak.); green room (wanna rewatch this one bc its premise is right up my alley); the boy (benefits from Better Than I Was Expecting); happy death day (groundhog day plots are really hit or miss for me but i did like this one. i support women's wrongs.); a quiet place (i need to see the sequels bc i hear day one is good but this was def a unique premise and i liked how the end product turned out); color out of space (goes on a touch too long imo but i'd love to watch it again); us (i still enjoy us just not as much as get out or nope. there's some clunkiness in us.)
a little mediocre but i'll put it on - my soul to take (no real notes on this one other than not being big happy w its ending); grave encounters (probs a little higher up on the meter bc i do enjoy saying 'im lance preston and this is grave encounters' at random); american mary (also on the higher up side bc i'd like it to have been. idk. gorier? also the ending felt kinda anticlimactic.); the babadook (film got spoiled for me long before i sat down to watch it. my partner despises it. i just wanna know why no one has pointed out that the kid is obviously autistic and him being presented as a burden is kinda fucked up); hereditary (i think this is a decent melodrama, and ari aster is not untalented, but oh my gooooood people piss me off about this movie lmao and the mom sounds exactly like my mother.); mom and dad (the parts w the parents i think are much stronger than the parts w the kids but interesting concept for a short story.); it ch2 (i think it doesn't quite match up to pt 1 but it's not bad. i might rewatch it and see how i feel.), ready or not (i'd love to rewatch this one and have my mind changed on it)
i don't remember this one love and light - the woman in black (i'll give this a rewatch later); the purge (i only have the vaguest memories of what happens in this one bc i watched it at 2 am w some classmates while studying abroad); it follows (i see both a lot of love and a lot of hate for this movie so i kinda wanna rewatch before i settle on an opinion)
boring - fright night (i watched this in high school bc i really liked david tennant but i tried rewatching it as an adult and i couldn't get hooked); the conjuring (i'm so sorry to everyone who loves these films but i could NOT get into this.); the witch (sorry.)
i dont recommend tbh - saw 3d (not one on my rewatch list in the series but it's also not the worst film in the set on account of it not being jigsaw or spiral); in fear (i watched this while studying abroad in scotland and i got very let down at just how little was going on in this film.); tusk (parts of this movie i was struggling not to laugh at. didn't feel bad for the main character in the least. not nearly as disturbing as everyone kept making it out ot be imo.); the love witch (i thought 'oh this has to be a critique of rad feminism it's too campy to be taken seriously' but alas i was wrong); midsommar (i am keeping my mouth shut on my real opinion of this movie.)
abysmal. sorry. - dark shadows (i will admit there are burton films that i still find joy in but this is definitely not one of them. really weird movie from what i remember); silent hill: revelation 3d (idk how they fucked up worse than christoph gans but they did!); jigsaw (how the fuck do you make a saw movie that's BORING. booo logan we hate ur pussy!)
woah sorry i just looked a t a list sorry this is like a massive wall of text.

so beauty tips from me to you.
Animal fat = GOOD!!!
Healthy and beneficial for your body, skin, mind and overall health and wellbeing. Healthy animal fats will nourish you inside and out. Examples of incorporating these healthy animal fats into your diet would be swapping semi skimmed milk/ plant based milks for whole milk (lactose free if that is an issue), processed cheese swapped with real cheese and red meat/ poultry as protein in whatever meal of your choice etc. i know a lot of diets and health plans/ restrictions will prevent alot of people from eating or using animal products, i don’t blame you for this, what i will say is definitely do research on supplements and real substitutes that will provide your body with the same/ very similar nutrients. cutting these kinds of healthy and important fats from your diet can cause deficiencies etc.
Exfoliating in the shower/ bath:
There is nothing better than feeling, smelling and above all BEING clean, the best and safest way to do this is to exfoliate the dead skins and germs from your skin on a regular basis- by this i mean 1-2 times a week but not every day- to ensure healthy, bright, smooth and squeaky clean skin. You can exfoliate using gloves, scented sugar scrubs and or brushes or stones. i will admit my own faults with this, i have been known to over-exfoliate my skin, using harsh gloves, scrubs and brushes on an everyday basis which eventually caught up to me in sensitive, harsh and very easily ripped and cut skin, so don’t be like me.
on days where you do not want to exfoliate i recommend you start by washing your hair and then doing your body afterward to make sure no residue is left on your skin, potentially causing breakouts like bacne. you can use a soft and light wash cloth with a bar soap, then a liquid cleanser of any scent you prefer (i love coconut and milk!!!) and then finish off with an unscented cleansing body wash around your more sensitive areas, ensuring all soaps and washes clean your body EXTERNALLY!!!
Body butter, oils and moisturisers:
After showers while your skin is still damp, apply a body oil to your skin. i like using Bio-oil as it has skin healing properties like reducing scarring and *apparently* reducing the visibility of stretch marks. the reason is that oil will lock in that moisture in your skin, leaving you with a beautiful glow and silky smooth- and maybe you’ve just shaved too- this will also lock in that sweet sweet post shave softness all day long.
Once your oil is applied, you should go in with a scented moisturiser. if your skin is too sensitive for scented moisturisers or body butters i recommend using baby lotions, they’re a lot softer on the skin and there is a faint baby powder smell that will leave you smelling fresh without that added irritation. i recommend using a scented moisturiser that matches the scent of your body wash, for me that is coconut/ vanilla. this is to really enhance that smell on your skin and really make it your signature and ‘natural’ scent. lotion/body butter will also lock in moisture while adding in some beneficial elements of its own, i recommend applying some to your armpits and then spraying some deodorant on right after, to me this allows it to last longer.
Hair and skin
Get to know your skin and your hair, spend some time playing around with a mirror and analyse your hair texture, how oily or dry your skin is, what shape your eyes are, the length of your hair etc. All of these beautiful jigsaw pieces that make you uniquely beautiful, get to know them and understand them, this way you can correctly enhance their individual powers and create looks based on what YOU need. i don’t have much experience with curly hair as i have very straight hair, there are many blogs and websites available to tell you what hair type you have and how to care for it correctly. what i will say is using hair oils in the bottoms of your hair and a heat protector before applying head to dry/ style seems to work wonders for the shine of my hair.
as for skin, knowing your shade, how oily or dry it is, what colour of blush compliments your skin tone, what colour of eyeshadow compliments your eye shade etc will enhance your beauty by stars and stars!!! all of these unique qualities on your face are yours to learn and love, to build upon and allow to shine, these are all things that take time, experience, trial and error and above all, confidence to try. no one knows exactly who they are, what they like, what suits them and what doesn’t first try, it’s up to you to take the leap and also take feedback and constructive criticism- without letting people insult you- ask a friend what they think about your lipstick shade, or about your eyeshadow that day. sometimes it really does take a village to built confidence and understanding, even about your own self.
the last thing i will mention about hair and skin health and hygiene is making sure they are clean and free of harsh chemicals, dirt and grime for long periods of time. bathing and washing up frequently are important, double cleansing your face and removing all makeup before bed, and finally changing your sheets every 1-2 weeks- i know it is a task that is boring and time consuming but i promise it is absolutely worth it and so good for you. i recommend buying beautiful sheets and quilts that speak to you and motivate you to change them frequently- your hair, skin and overall hygiene will thank you for this.
That’s all for now sweethearts, let me know if you would like more of this from me or any beauty tips you have in the comments!!! i absolutely love hearing other peoples personal beauty secrets and advice!!! lots of love 🫧

Rimmer discovering that his real father was the gardener Dennis and managing to find a way to be proud of himself for becoming a second technician in the space corps because he figures his real father would have been proud of him for getting that far warms my heart in a kind of bittersweet way;;
He’s had his entire world turned upside down. His father, or rather the man he has always thought of and believed to be his father, is in fact not his father at all. The weight of constantly not living up to expectation, constantly disappointing, lagging behind his brothers, never being Rimmer enough in his father’s eyes takes on a new light when he learns that he is a Rimmer only in name, not by bloodline.
His real father was a gardener, and yes Rimmer referred to him as a babbling imbecile when he was first told, but clearly Dennis was good at his job, good with his hands in practical ways. Maybe he wasn’t an academic type, maybe he even had the same struggles that Rimmer himself experiences and that’s what led him to something more hands-on. But he’s good at what he does and was presumably happy to do it too.
When Rimmer is hearing the news, he’s told he no longer descends from a line of Austrian princes and French royalty but artisans, gardeners. People the Rimmers would look down on but whose individual skills are still very much a valuable and precious thing.
Lister jokes that a billion piece jigsaw finally falls into beautiful place but in a way he’s right.
Rimmer has been shown in the books to have enjoyed creative things in his youth. He was all too happy to colour in maps of the solar system with extreme care and attention to detail, and later in life he colour codes his revision timetables until they resemble minor works of art themselves. And although it’s a deleted scene there’s also a moment where we see him trying to paint miniature models with the aid of a hologram box. So even now something of that has survived as a minor hobby. It’s clear there was a burgeoning creative streak in him that was squashed by his family’s lack of appreciation for art and crafts. Something they surely viewed as nothing more than frivolous time-wasting pursuits, unlike something productive like becoming an officer. Something menial in their eyes despite the very real skills needed to create something with your own hands.
Given enough encouragement to pick up a craft and stick to it he would probably find that it comes to him a lot more easily, a lot more naturally than studious, complicated academic stuff that requires lots of reading and memorising and calculating. He’d find that he’s good with his hands, and a practical learner who retains things much more easily when he’s able to work at it physically. And he would surely enjoy expressing himself through creative endeavours a bit more if he could just give it a chance.
I understand that he still wants to have a goal to aim towards, and since he’s spent his entire life and most of his borrowed time as a hologram attempting to become an officer then of course he’s going to be reluctant to give it up. He’s spent so much time trying to become an officer, what’s the point in giving up now? I guess it’s something that would take time for him to really consider letting go of. It has defined so much of his existence for so long but so much of THAT was dictated by the expectations of a man he now knows isn’t even his real father.
When he played that message from his father it was to try to free himself from that. He even says that although he was only supposed to play it after he became an officer, by playing it beforehand it means he doesn’t care what his father thinks, that he’s free of him. But that’s easier said than done.
It would have been nice to see him leave that goal behind, to shed it along with the weight of all the other expectations that were placed on his shoulders, to cast aside the mould he was never able to make himself fit no matter how hard he tried.
But I think that with everything his life has been it’s to be expected that it would be a slow, gradual process. How do you throw away everything you thought you had to be all at once? What’s left of yourself when everything you’ve become was built around those expectations? Who will you become afterwards?
I hope he figures that out and makes peace with it someday;;

Aqua Teen Hunger Force #77: “The Marines” | March 16, 2008 - 11:45PM | S06E08
In the Marines: Meatwad joins the Marines by mistake after viewing a very patriotic gum ad. He also enlisted his roommates. Frylock flees to Canada. Shake frantically pulls out a shotgun and puts it in his mouth: “Let’s see them take me like this!” BLAM! He blows his FUCKING head CLEAR off. Smash cut to a surprisingly still-alive Shake, head crudely reattached to it’s body, shredded by buckshot. “Unbelievable! They took me like this!”
Folks, let me tell you. I may not have respect the real troops (what they do is easy! Any weenie on Earth could do what they do! I’m the real hero by not being one! Fuck you!) but I respect the hell out of these ones. Meatwad and Shake are now on a freaking Marines aquatic vessel out at sea, being forced to do military stuff like peel potatoes and swab decks and fight in wars. They are bad at their jobs, and they are getting screamed at constantly by a faceless commanding officer whom we only hear over the ship’s public address system. I love when the show does this. Meatwad and Shake are also inexplicably the only people we see on the entire boat, implying that the US government are using their vast resources to just brutalize the Aqua Teens. I love how weirdly stark these scenes are. I’m sure it’s a budget thing, but it’s also really funny.
Meanwhile, we see what became of Frylock: he did indeed make it to Canada but he’s being held captive by a Jigsaw-like character. He’s shot in live-action using a little puppet. These scenes are one-note, and they have diminishing returns, mostly, but it’s very funny at first. Just a minor quibble.
The show ends on a pretty strong note: officially AWOL, the Aqua Teens hole up in a cave. When military helicopters show up, Meatwad and Shake start getting nasty with each other like they are boyfriends. The legendarily homophobic military decide to abandon their mission: OPERATION: BRING BACK MEATWAD (which is what I assume they called it). Frylock steps in to scold his roommates for rehashing jokes from their movie, followed by a very garish promotional spot for the movie on DVD, as well as the recently released volume 5 DVD and their bad golfing video game.
I remember liking this one a lot, and I’m glad that I still do. There’s maybe a couple more lulls in it than I remember, but this is my favorite episode of this season, and I think it’s truly excellent. “They took me like this!” is one of my favorite jokes of all time. I love this show, even when it’s bad, but this is a good one, so I shouldn’t have even said “even when it’s bad’ earlier.
This is one of the episodes on the Volume Six DVD that has commentary. They include a real army guy on there, and if that guy reads this, I would like to say that sir, you are the only troop I have ever respected, thank you for your service. (Solemn Brak voice) Be an army of one. They mention, and I should have earlier, that the gum commercial in the beginning is based on a real Army ad, one that was designed to “get D&D nerds killed on the front lines” says Dave Willis. They also confirmed to me that the guy who voices the Drill Sergent is the singer from Nine Pound Hammer (aka Roostre).
MAIL BAG
Kon, whose mind is precious and his ideas are nice, writes:
The "Decepticle beating off to Antagone's birthing canal" is a good example of why Frisky Dingo is one of the very last "100% white guy writing and animation staff" productions ever, tough to imagine that would have made it to the final cut otherwise
I failed to mention the reveal in that joke where the camera pushes in and we see that he’s really beating off to a photo of Hesh and he comes on it and they show it :(

Total works: 55 (there are a couple stragglers under another pseud, not counted because they're hubby's.) You would think that ICOFBG would have passed the Merlin fic by now but it picked up steam this year and they're gaining at about the same rate. Pocketful is doing very well for a fic told by Sir Not Appearing in This Film. It's honestly probably the best thing I've written from a sheer complexity and execution standpoint. I still can't believe I wrote the whole thing.
About the process: Most things that I write end up being written in one big lump. The Merlin fic was not... 2016 was a crazy productive year for me because I used writing to dissociate from some very gross real world stuff that was happening, and I started writing the Merlin fic, picked up Check Please, wrote a bunch there and then came back and finished the Merlin thing, then dove into Yuri on Ice and came out of all of that with two unfinished series (Check Please, Yuri on Ice) and a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. I spent the first 3 months of the pandemic doing absolutely nothing except listening to audiobooks and playing digital jigsaws, and then I needed a break for my hands from the digital jigsaws and watched The Untamed and haven't really emerged since from that fandom. But 2021 was not really a writing year, I had like one charity thing that was fast and didn't take a lot of time, so I was like, Hey, that was fun, I can do TWO in 2022, and then the first one took 2 1/2 months to write, months to edit and 6 weeks to post to the point where I was basically doing nothing but that story for 4 1/2 months and then I opened the next project and...
Well, it turned out I'd set that aside for a reason and it took me longer to make myself write 18k than it had to entirely write and post 180k. I did it, but I'm a bit burnt out for a while. The only solution I know to burnout is to do something else, so I've been playing Skyrim this year. I did Fallout 4 earlier in the year. At this point the fact that they came out with a 10 year old game in a remaster that did not fix the bugs of the original is just funny. I hold my fic to a higher standard than they hold their paid-for game and boy howdy isn't that just how it goes. More user stats below the cut if you're remotely curious.

There's like... 350k-ish posted elsewhere not duplicated on AO3. I'm on whofic.com and I have stuff on my own website.
I tend to go into writing mode once or twice a year, sometimes I don't some years, sometimes I'll write like five stories in a row in a series. This is probably not a writing year unless an idea bites me hard, as I'm not doing any challenges/charity auctions this year. If there's something you really want me to write and you're willing to bribe me by sending money to charity, it never hurts to ask but I may say not this year.

(Match up for my OC please!)
Name: Vespera Nightingale
Nicknames: Ves, Vessie, Vespie
Ves is a 2nd year Diasomnia student, she/her/they, INTP.
Personality- She’s superstitious, the type to believe in karma and good luck charms, horoscopes and the supernatural and all that.
Ves is also an insomniac to boot, barely able to sleep more than a few hours each night, and thus she has a perpetual flat, melancholic expression on her face almost always.
Her biggest red flag would be her overall vindictiveness and vengeful streak. Her temper is actually quite short, and although she doesn’t show it outright, if you somehow tick her off, she’s already planning your demise or flinging a nasty curse behind your back. Most of the time her retributions” are harmless, if annoying inconveniences (such as turning Sebek’s hair diarrhea brown), as she doesn’t really have the heart to do anything too dangerous.
Ves is able to admit that sometimes she does take things too far, and will usually knit something, like a scarf or maybe a pair of mittens as an apology. She likes making sweaters for her dormmates in particular.
On the positive: she’s extremely resourceful and an adaptive thinker. One of her strengths is her endless imagination and boundless creativity (often wasted by her brainstorming for ways to get back at people). And despite her sour expression, Ves is also more optimistic than she looks. She’s quite hardworking and productive, and actually spends alot of time studying and cleaning.
Ves also seems to be picking up a new hobby or interest almost every week, seeing as she has plenty of spare time on her hands. But just as quick as she picks something up, Ves may drop the interest just as fast and move onto something else entirely. Her latest fixation so far is old movies that she binge watches with the Film Appreciation Club. The few hobbies that have stuck with her so far are reading, jigsaw puzzles (the 1000 piece sets), and handicrafts such as sewing, knitting, and embroidery. Ves is a particularly avid reader and can sometimes go through 2-3 books a week, usually on magical history or weird magic anomalies.
Other fun facts and tidbits about Ves:
-her birthday is on 2/29 and she hates it, in fact she’d prefer not to celebrate it at all. If you really ask her she’ll probably just lie and say 3/1. Or curse you.
-favorite food is pudding, least favorite is anything with caffeine
Overall, her belief in superstitions and vengeful tendencies may cause others to view her as childish or immature. So a good match would be someone who wouldn’t mind that (or…..would help her in her petty crimes). If it isnt someone as eccentric as her, they should also be able to rein her in if needed. They’d also need to be someone who can handle clinginess because Ves gets attached REAL QUICKLY. I’d say she’s mildly yandere but she’s quite naive and innocent when it comes to romance. Definitely believes babies are delivered by storks and that handholding is ~forbidden~
Thanks and congrats!!
hi, i hope you like this matchup!
the character that i think would be a good partner for your oc is..
floyd leech!
i'll explain why i chose him:
i actually spent quite a lot of time thinking which character would be the best (or at least good) match for ves and i wasn't sure if i should go with a more chaotic and eccentric partner for her or someone who's more chill. the second option sounded more logical because, you know, someone's gotta make sure ves is not causing too much chaos, but the first option sounded more fun! also i feel like some characters wouldn't have enough patience for her I'M SO SORRY i think ves and floyd's dynamic would be very interesting, it's like you never know what these two are gonna do next. floyd would definitely help ves out with their pranks or he would actually be the one to suggest ideas for how they can "take their revenge" on someone. but if ves finds someone too annoying, floyd can just squeeze them-
floyd doesn't really get ves's interest in things like horoscopes or supernatural stuff, but he does think it's cute of her to like things like that. he may tease her for it, but he doesn't really mean it.. well, maybe he does mean it, but not in a bad way, he just thinks it's funny. he won't let anyone say they're childish for having hobbies like that though. also yeah, he did laugh when he first heard about their birthday, but then he said that maybe ves should just celebrate her birthday on february 28th or she really should go with march 1st. or both! she can have two birthdays, she deserves it. oh and when february 29th actually comes, it means that they can have three birthdays!
oh, you don't have to worry about ves being clingy, floyd wouldn't mind that at all! he would love it actually. he's already a very affectionate guy, but ves acting like this makes him refuse to let her go when he's hugging her. he thinks her being so innocent is adorable and he can try to play along just for fun. or he can actually destroy her innocence. who knows, depends on his mood. and oh? she's mildly yandere? WELL THAT'S INTERESTING. again, he wouldn't think it's weird or scary and he even would find it cute <3 he's a strange man, okay.

Factory Orders Meet Fractal Trading: A Winning Combination Factory Orders and Fractal Trading: Unlocking Market Mysteries Imagine trying to assemble a jigsaw puzzle without knowing what the final picture looks like. That’s how most traders approach Forex. Enter factory orders and fractal trading: two game-changing tools that, when combined, can decode market complexity and boost your trading edge. In this guide, we’ll break down these concepts, inject some humor to keep you entertained, and reveal advanced strategies for integrating them. What Are Factory Orders, and Why Should You Care? Factory orders represent the total dollar value of new purchase orders placed with manufacturers. Think of it as the heartbeat of industrial production. Rising factory orders often signal economic growth, while declining orders hint at trouble ahead. Why does this matter in Forex? Because factory orders influence currency strength. For example, robust U.S. factory orders can boost the USD, while weak numbers might send it spiraling. As a trader, this is your early warning system for potential market shifts. Fractal Trading: The Missing Puzzle Piece Fractals are recurring patterns that emerge across different timeframes. In trading, a fractal is a series of five bars where the middle bar is the highest high (or lowest low), flanked by two lower highs (or higher lows) on each side. It’s like spotting a breadcrumb trail in the chaos of price action. Why Fractals Are Powerful: - They Define Trends: Fractals can confirm trend direction and reversals. - They Simplify Analysis: By focusing on fractals, you can cut through market noise. - They’re Universal: Fractals work on all timeframes, from minute charts to monthly charts. Combining Factory Orders with Fractal Trading Now, let’s bring these tools together. Factory orders provide the macroeconomic context, while fractals offer precise entry and exit signals. Here’s how to blend them: Step 1: Analyze Factory Orders Monitor factory order data releases. Strong numbers can indicate bullish trends for the currency, while weak data might signal bearish sentiment. Pro Tip: Use an economic calendar to track factory order announcements and avoid trading blind. Step 2: Identify Fractals in the Chart Overlay fractals on your preferred trading pair. Look for patterns forming around key levels influenced by factory order data. For instance: - If factory orders are strong and a bullish fractal forms near support, consider going long. - If factory orders are weak and a bearish fractal appears near resistance, consider shorting. Step 3: Confirm with Indicators To reduce false signals, pair fractals with indicators like the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) or Relative Strength Index (RSI). For example: - A bullish fractal near support with RSI below 30 (oversold) adds confidence to a buy setup. - A bearish fractal near resistance with MACD bearish crossover confirms a sell signal. Real-World Example: EUR/USD Let’s say the latest U.S. factory orders exceed expectations, signaling a stronger USD. On the EUR/USD chart, a bearish fractal forms near resistance at 1.1050. With confirmation from RSI (overbought) and MACD (bearish crossover), you place a short trade. As the USD strengthens, the pair drops, and your trade hits its target. Avoiding Pitfalls in Fractal Trading Fractals are powerful but not foolproof. Here’s how to avoid common mistakes: - Overtrading: Not every fractal is tradable. Focus on those aligning with macroeconomic factors like factory orders. - Ignoring Context: A fractal without context is like a punchline without a joke. Always consider market conditions. - Neglecting Risk Management: Place stop-losses below/above fractals to limit losses in case of unexpected reversals. Tools to Enhance Factory Orders and Fractal Analysis Equip yourself with these tools: - Charting Platforms: TradingView and MetaTrader 4/5 have built-in fractal indicators. - Economic Calendars: ForexFactory and Investing.com help track factory order data. - Custom Scripts: Develop custom scripts using Python or MQL for advanced fractal analysis. The Humor in Trading Mistakes Have you ever chased a fractal without checking factory orders, only to see your trade collapse faster than a poorly built sandcastle? Or placed a trade before a factory order release and watched it nosedive as the numbers came out? Trading is as much about learning from your mistakes as it is about celebrating wins. Why This Combination Works The synergy between factory orders and fractal trading lies in their complementary nature: - Factory Orders: Provide macro-level insights. - Fractals: Deliver micro-level precision. - Combined: They create a robust framework for informed decision-making. Final Thoughts Integrating factory orders and fractal trading is like having a GPS and a map—one gives you the big picture, while the other helps you navigate the details. By mastering these tools, you can uncover hidden opportunities and trade with confidence. So, are you ready to level up your Forex game? —————– Image Credits: Cover image at the top is AI-generated Read the full article

Types of Puzzles for Adults & Kids
True puzzle lovers know that jigsaw puzzles are the most challenging and entertaining type of puzzle—but with so many different versions and varieties available, it can be difficult to know which kind of jigsaw puzzles to choose and which are best suited for adults and children. Jigsaw Jungle, Canada’s premier online retailer of jigsaw puzzles, offers a wide range of puzzles to suit any age and personality. Whether it’s a giant 3D puzzle with thousands of pieces or a simple 100-piece puzzle with chunky pieces, there are so many jigsaw puzzles, and for anyone. To help you decide on your next puzzle, we have curated this list of jigsaw puzzles for kids and adults.
Puzzles For Adults
At Jigsaw Jungle, our selection of puzzles are designed to challenge and entertain you. The following types of jigsaw puzzles are real brain teasers—ideal for adult puzzlers:
1000 Pieces
Puzzles with 1000 pieces are often the most challenging and are ideal for experienced, adult puzzlers. Puzzles with 1000 pieces tend to be complex, and the pieces are typically quite small and sometimes, puzzles with a high piece count come in irregular shapes instead of interlocking pieces, which adds to the challenge. Large puzzles are ideal for completing in groups of 4 because each puzzler can focus on solving their corner or side of the puzzle.
3D Jigsaw Puzzles
Some people prefer 3D jigsaw puzzles that are constructed vertically and horizontally. These jigsaw puzzles come in a variety of styles and themes, including castles, dinosaurs, space ships, structures like the Eiffel Tower, or buildings like the Empire State Building. They can be a fun challenge to assemble, and the finished product is an interesting statement piece and conversation starter to display once it’s completed.
Black and White Puzzles
When most people work through solving a jigsaw puzzle, they approach it based on each piece’s colour—and match those pieces with others like them. This technique is much more difficult when the pieces are all black and white. Jigsaw puzzles featuring black and white images, such as the works of M.C. Escher or other geometric designs, provide hours of fun and a sense of accomplishment when it’s finished.
Wooden Puzzles
Wooden brain teaser puzzles are some of the most challenging jigsaw puzzles in Canada. These intricate puzzles are made up of interlocking wooden pieces and come in a variety of designs and styles perfect for adult puzzlers. Popular themes for wooden puzzles include animals, landscapes, buildings, and ships.
Round Puzzles
If you’re looking for a unique puzzling experience, we recommend giving our round puzzles a try. These puzzles feature the same style of jigsaw puzzle pieces as their square and rectangular counterparts but in a round shape that makes solving the puzzle more challenging. Completed round jigsaw puzzles are also popular as wall hangings because of their unusual shape.
Panoramic Puzzles
Panoramic jigsaw puzzles are extremely popular among experienced puzzlers. A variety of images are available in our online puzzle store, with higher piece counts than most standard jigsaw puzzles. To assemble and solve a panoramic jigsaw puzzle, you need a large table or ample floor space. Jigsaw Jungle’s panoramic puzzles typically depict breathtaking landscapes and nature scenes, among other vibrant images. We recommend starting on the borders with these unique puzzles.
Puzzles For Kids
At Jigsaw Jungle, we have a wide range of puzzles for kids. Our kids' puzzles engage, entertain, and educate while honing your child's creative thinking and problem-solving skills. The following types of puzzles are ideal for kids of all ages:
Chunky Puzzles
Chunky jigsaw puzzles feature bulky pieces that are thicker, easier to grasp by little hands, and have non-interlocking to make them easier for kids to put together. Typically, chunky puzzles are ideal for toddlers because they develop motor skills and kids typically need to use both hands to pick up and move the pieces.
Knob Puzzles
Knob puzzles are the easiest jigsaw puzzles for kids available through our online puzzle store. Knob puzzle pieces are usually non-connecting and fit snugly into cut-outs on a wooden board. Each puzzle piece comes with a knob that makes it easier for kids to hold and assemble—making them ideal for toddlers who are just beginning to develop their puzzle-solving skills.
Frame Puzzles
Frame puzzles are perfect for beginners of jigsaw puzzles. The interlocking pieces are put together inside a frame, and they are typically made from cardboard. The cardboard frame helps young children understand where to place the puzzle pieces, particularly near the edges. Jigsaw Jungle recommends this puzzle for children in preschool and kindergarten. Frame puzzles usually come with between 9 and 60 puzzle pieces.
Floor Puzzles
Floor puzzles are designed to be put together directly on the floor without a frame. They are the best type of puzzle to help develop children’s problem-solving skills. They are ideal for kids preschool aged and older. Floor puzzles generally come with between 24 and 100 pieces. Our online puzzle store also offers a selection of puzzle boards in Canada to make assembling floor puzzles easier for your little ones.
Shape Puzzles
Some of the most entertaining jigsaw puzzles for children to complete are puzzles that are different shapes once they are assembled—like cats, cars, or houses. There are also unique puzzles where the pieces themselves are in the shape of objects like animals, trees, and flowers.
Jigsaw Jungle is among the most popular puzzle stores in Canada, known for our variety of puzzles suitable for both adults and kids. Our expansive collection of jigsaw puzzles includes challenging brain puzzles for adults that are perfect for independent puzzling or completing as a group. We also offer a wide range of easier beginner puzzles ideal for kids—they feature bright colours, easy-to-grasp pieces, and a lower piece count. We offer jigsaw puzzles in a variety of piece counts, sizes, complexity, and images to suit your interests and skill level.
