Hello Mr Gaiman! I just saw The Ocean At The End of The Lane in Edinburgh last night and LOVED it. Everything about it was incredible but one of my favourite parts was the music! It was so beautiful and atmospheric. Did you have any involvement in choosing a composer or anything like that?
The amazing music is by Jherek Bischoff, who is a genius and a good friend of mine -- we met when he was bass player in Amanda Palmer's band in 2012 -- and I had no idea he was involved until we were heading into the production. It was a magical sort of a bonus.
You can hear and download the music at Jherek's Bandcamp site (among other places).

Day 2: death + sensory deprivation
Characters: Charles Rowland, Edwin Payne, Crystal Palace (mentioned)
Content warnings: blindfolds, sensory deprivation, sensory play, anxiety, fear of abandonment
"I bet I look right daft," Charles says, or at least he thinks he does. He can't hear himself over the music playing through his Walkman headphones.
Walkmans are retro now, according to Crystal, and therefore back in fashion. Charles will claim any amount of cool he can get. Being dead has a way of making a bloke feel old.
But the silk scarf tied over his eyes, that's new, and it's kind of freaking him out if he's honest.
Edwin blindfolded him, and Charles knows he'd never hurt him. But he already can't taste or smell or feel, not properly. Not being able to see either is... well, it's a bit like dying.
He fidgets a little, fingertips pressing into his thighs through his trousers, trying to keep his knee from bouncing. It's not his usual music. Edwin didn't want him stomping and waving his arms about, though he didn't use those exact words. Something about being still and present in the moment. Something about trust.
So he's sat in the dark, surrounded by piano and oboe and... cello? Strings, anyway. It sounds like a storm underwater, somehow. Swelling and ebbing. It's sort of peaceful, sort of exciting, sort of creepy.
He can't really feel the chair under him... surely he hasn't drifted up off it? Oh shit, what if he's sunk through the chair, through the floor, even? Could he fall all the way through the building, through the basement and the foundations, down into the earth?
What if Edwin looked away for a second and Charles had just disappeared? What if he can't find him? What if Edwin's gone?
His spectral stomach drops. He doesn't need to breathe but his chest feels tight. He shivers.
"Edwin?" he says.
His teeth are chattering, when did that start?
But it doesn't matter, because immediately there are hands on his shoulders. They're not warm, exactly, but they're so gentle and familiar and comfortable that Charles instantly relaxes.
He tilts his head back and Edwin obligingly presses a kiss to the side of his neck. Charles shivers again, but this time feels better, more like frisson down his spine.
"More, please," he murmurs.
Edwin smiles against his skin and kisses him again. His fingertips brush down Charles' arms, ticklishly light, then his blunt nails scrape back up.
And all Charles needs to do is feel, so he surrenders to the touch.

I just got back from an Edinburgh showing.
That was a masterpiece. the cast, crew, composer, and director outdid their fucking bones. this deserves to run longer than The Mousetrap, I am dead serious.
See it. Just..see it.

Went to watch the ocean at the end of the lane.- someone couldn’t go so they gave the tickets to us. and it was AMAZING. The best thing I’ve ever seen, the music was beautiful, they recreated the characters perfectly.
im going to watch it again soon.
It is wonderful, isn't it?

As for pronouns, we use any pronouns except she/her! We do have preferred though, being xe/xem/xyr, fae/faer/faers, star/stars, and ae/aer/aers. They/them is also fine though! Space/cosmic related neos are great :]
We are bodily a minor! Keep this is mind when interacting. Uploads over here will be slow as we are in college
We have a twitch! We will be streaming there (hopefully) soon:

Tumblr media
That out of the way, onto the music stuff!
This blog is both for our own original music and for music-related posts!
We do not sing or write lyrics, we compose instrumentals! We are amateurs, and simply want to put our music out there
We use Musescore 3 currently, but are working on switching to Logic Pro
Our favourite things to compose are waltzes! Our favourite key is E flat minor
We did Music GCSE and are currently doing a Music Production course at college.
Our pieces will probably not be available on Spotify, but we will put them on Youtube (hopefully)
We have limited access to Logic Pro currently, we will start uploading music here once we can access it reliably
We play the violin at Grade 5 🎻, it's our favourite instrument :]

I'm thinking of watching twin peaks this holiday season is that reasonable or am I ruining Christmas for myself
I think that would depend on what episode you found yourself watching ON christmas HOWEVER in the general sense of the holiday season, yeah watch it! I first watched seasons 1 and 2 over new years, so. (I mean I did take two weeks to watch it. but I STARTED new years eve.)
also some of the cast did a twin peaks version of the 12 days of christmas, which I recommend waiting until after season 2 to watch, BUT ALSO jherek bischoff did some classic christmas carols in the style of angelo badalamenti's score for peaks, and they are, delightfully haunting. angelo our beloved also did the score for national lampoon's christmas vacation so all of this is to say, TECHNICALLY, twin peaks is not in fact far removed from the holiday spirit.......
