JGY and SMS thoughts

I do not like JGY. This should be made clear because Im about to defend this man like i want to suck his dick.

JGY was born to be second place. He was never meant to be a leader, and belongs behind a figurehead leader, pulling the strings. (The best JGY in fandom is second in command to JZX because JZX is a lovable moron).

His watchtowers? Amazing 10/10. Murdering JGS? 8/10 shouldve done it sooner.

The big problem with JGY is not his ruthlessness or his sociopathic tendencies, its his ambition. He places so much arbitrary value on being Sect Leader, chief cultivator, and also being accepted by his dad. If he had recognized that JGS would never love him, he would’ve offed him ages ago and been the mastermind behind JZX, where he belongs.

SMS on the other hand is correct in every possible way.

I love a good henchman, and he will dirty his hands and his soul for JGY and I adore him for it. He truly did not give a fuck what JGY was working towards, he let himself be used like a tool and I appreciate being able to relate to his character. Blind love and loyalty, no morals just Do. He is so precious to me and if JGY had killed JGS earlier SMS would’ve been a great Jin henchman.

Before that, however, SMS is just kind of an ass. Again, I love asshole representation and hes iconic, but it does mean he will never be a fan favorite. Unlike the “Heroes” of the story, SMS is primarily concerned with keeping himself alive, and he recognizes that he is a background character. His death wouldn’t be noted or appreciated, just a corpse in the background of a few scenes before never being heard if again. Think of the entire battlefields of dead cultivators, the Jiang and Lan disciples killed, no one cares. They are lumped together as a “tragedy” but no one remembers their names. For SMS, that is his fate and he recognizes that.

So no, he does not lay down his life at the first chance. Yes he is a “coward” who runs away when he knows he cant win a fight. GOOD FOR HIM. The protagonists of this story would never have protected him, and so he’s gotta do it himself. His later devotion to JGY just shows that he is not incapable of love, of care, rather that he chose not to care about WWX or any of the other main characters. So he is an antagonist in WWX’s story, but not a true villain. Just a man who wants to stay alive and I respect that.

Anyways I love SMS and have complex feelings about JGY.

Just immediately spinning the situation against WWX, it's great. How much of this is planned? I don't know. He walks into frame like he's the hero of the day right after JGY's "et tu Er-Ge" moment on the stairs.

Hi there!

My thoughts on suyao is that is it very underrated for how much canon backup it has. I mean, granted, most of it is very one-sided, but it was also stated that JGY cared about him, if not in the same way (no one can convince me that SMS didn't have a crush lol), he was still a very dear friend.

I will always say that JGY may have loved LXC, but he trusted SMS and that's a special bond that has more potential than what ppl give them credit for.

I'm aware that it mostly comes from the fact that SMS is not a very liked character in the fandom, and I fully blame the narrative for that. One thing I love about this story is that no one and nothing is black and white, and depending on the pov, mostly everyone can be the hero and the villain, which is why I'm so partial towards the "bad guys". They too have a story to tell that wasn't given the chance in a canon that is very much a tragedy for everybody but two characters ^^;.

Ahhhh thank you so much!! I'm so glad to know you enjoy my art and my ramblings lol. I'm a certified villainfucker, and as I mentioned above, it's pretty much a matter of perspective to me, and I always found characters that have complicated moralities and motivations, much more interesting than characters that are nothing but goodness/evil... and even evil for the sake of it can be fun when embranced with style (aka WRH xD).

Anyways, Jiggy absolutely deserves all the love, and that's why I'm here, spreading the allyao gospel and advocating for rareships :'D

"Nothing." Su Minshan gives him that sidelong look again. The one his cohort seems to think he never notices. "Same as every other day you've asked." 

"And I will ask again when the next report arrives," Jin Guangyao replies, not caring how flat his tone sounds. 

Su Minshan makes a noise that might be annoyance, but nods and gets up. 

No word from the few spies he has left is both a curse and a blessing. 

His dreams and nightmares both are eerily silent these days, but the sickening crack of his once-(perhaps still)-beloved's head striking the side of that damned stone coffin haunts him, usually only for brief moments before he is torn apart by two fierce corpses instead of one.

Jin Guangyao involuntarily stiffens, then forces the tension in his spine to ease. "And?"

Su Minshan fidgets, then looks away in clear discomfort. "He... asked for his brother,” he mumbles, the paper crinkling in his hands. “When told his brother had been- that his brother was dead, he suffered a severe qi deviation. He’s been temporarily put back under until the damage can be mitigated.”

This should be good news. He should be relieved.

If the consequences indicated by the report hold true, no one will be able to tell Huaisang the truth of what he’s done, lest they risk the shock killing him. 

With Lan Xichen’s soft heart having let him escape, and Nie Huaisang’s memory and mind potentially permanently addled, there will be no one hunting them in the foreseeable future.

This should be good news. He should be relieved.

And yet he isn’t.

He just hurts.

ok so like we've all heard of "other characters get confused hearing A-Yao praise Minshan" like "uh? Su She? That Su She?? Really???"

But like... A-Yao getting confused about how other characters perceive Su She. Just A-Yao thinking like, 'Cowardly? Inept?? Huh? Disloyal??? Are you kidding me? My Minshan??? Really?' Like A-Yao is very smart! And would totally understand! But also! Su She is nothing like that around him! Like A-Yao has probably never actually seen him fail at anything until he has to go against the Jianghu A Team and that's a lot of things! Especially in the CQL continuity where he does The Absolute Most.

And like he never even met Su She before he became a Sect Leader, like his first impression of him is genuinely that he'd be a valuable asset? And he's like. Not wrong. Like at no point does Jin Guangyao ever see Su She being any of those things! Not because Su She is hiding those things, but because he just *isn't* those things for Jin Guangyao!

(And JGY probably definitely knows SMS's past and why people say those things. So maybe he'd be more annoyed than confused tbh. Like, "y'all are really still on about that huh?" I mean he wouldn't say that, but...)
