the goonies: what was the last thing to make you laugh?I honestly don’t remember, though I am positive I have laughed in the last 24 hours. Most likely one of the cats or the dog doing something ridiculous.

labyrinth: what’s the relationship with your siblings like?Hahaha tumblr therapy time! No, I’ve got two brothers that are 8 and 10 years older than me. One of them I’m close to, though he’s a dumbass and we share very few opinions on a lot of things. The other moved across the country like eleven years ago and I have probably spoken to him less than twenty times in that, other than the two times he visited, because he sucks at communication.

ghostbusters: where were you when you watched your favourite movie for the first time?This requires me to pick a favorite movie, ugh. My go to answers have been Stand By Me and LOTR since middler school, but idk if that’s realistic anymore? Like if we’re talking about fave as movie I watch frequently and don’t get sick of lbr it’s probably While You Were Sleeping. In which case, I was at my house, and I was unimpressed the first time (this goes for LOTR too, btw).

 Cordelia makes spiked apple cider, for “an extra lit new year” and it’s pretty addictive, so they spend the latter half of dinner kinda shitfaced

 Whizzer sneaks Jason some cider (of course)

They don’t go to services; instead they play New Years Resolutions games and predict what’s gonna happen in the new year, as well as think about what they’d like to accomplish

 Trina makes the absolute BEST challah

Charlotte and Cordelia are obsessed with the Great British Bake Off, so they propose the gang has a Bake Off-style challah making contest. Jason and Marvin judge all of them, and Whizzer wins the contest by making a ginger-chocolate challah

 Charlotte makes a challah shaped like a stethoscope

 Whizzer makes he and Marvin pride kippot to wear at dinner

 Mendel is in charge of leading the few prayers that they do say, because he has the Prettiest Singing Voice of the group, but he doesn’t actually know half of the prayers, so he keeps getting corrected by Whizzer, who has an equally pretty singing voice. 

“Baruch atah Adonai, eloheinu melech haolam, um…we give thanks to God for bread?”

“–do you seriously not remember the rest of this?”

“…I know the wine prayer.”

 Mendel and Marvin, the two with the least amount of cooking skill, get tasked with making matzoh ball soup, because any idiot can make soup– except they totally can’t. It ends with the two of them covered in chicken stock and matzoh meal on the ceiling, much to Trina’s dismay. Whizzer’s thrilled, because at least Marvin can get rid of that goddamn awful checkered shirt.

The Adults decide one year that they’re going to all go to a winery and make their own wine just to have for High Holidays

Hair 2009 is SO good!!!! I actually saw it, and it was so much fun and so, so good

I generally don’t go for the “ugh I hate you” response when people have experiences that I’m envious of, but that was the first thing to pop into my mind when I read that you saw it 😂That’s so awesome. I had no exposure to Hair (other than like, knowing Aquarius because I live on this earth and consume media) up until just under a month ago. I saw a local high school’s production that blew me away and have now been listening to the 2009 recording for three weeks straight. Apparently, the HS’s production was based heavily on the 2009 version - I’m not sure how 2009 differed from the original, but obviously it did in some ways. And the HS version ALSO differed, obviously, but all things considered it’s remarkable how little they changed (based on comparing cast recording to the lyrics the second time I saw it at the HS). Hair is my Unexpected Obsession of 2018, which is great timing with it being NBC’s next musical.
