still cant believe that the 2001 prototype of jsrf actually had the characters using their facial expressions more. the final game uses them but only in the start/end cutscenes where they skate around.

look at yoyo. hes dancing in the garage when hes not being played as with that fuckass smile on his face. they robbed him of his joy and whimsy in the final by taking that away from him and forcing him to use the blank default

its also nearly impossible to get a good look at it but when he stands still hes also always grinning. hes just fucking happy to be there. or a smug little shit. probably both

Jsr headcanons that don't leave my mind (ever)

Beat has multiple "familiars" and Pots is only ONE example.

Gum met Ramona Flowers once (in her dreams), she never saw her again.

Tab secretly cried while watching Titanic. Beat and Gum were just loudly sobbing.

One Poison Jam member has a collection of all the Shrek movies.

The Love Shockers seem to really like Olivia Rodrigo songs.

Cube is the person to listen to heavy metal when they sleep.

Beat, Gum and Tab went to a random graveyard to summon a ghost with an ouija board (it was Beat's idea). They ended up running into body snatchers/grave robbers, and they started running away from each other.

Out of all the Rudies in an ice rink, Yoyo is the most terrible.

i have a fantastic announcement 'beat emotes through his glasses' crew. his glasses are actually animated in the first game and the frequency seems to be like that of a blinking animation in the dreamcast release (gif above).

however, upon testing, i have discovered he is bugged in the 2012 port and this is only viewable as intended via his encounter with combo. during normal gameplay (where this animation also is supposed to play) his glasses only are animated on one lens, generally the one closest to the camera. (gif below)

yoyo too is affected by the differences between the dreamcast and port, though his texture animation is Far harder to notice. i find that having his expression textures right there helps you pick it out better, so here it is with a dreamcast gif below it

it only shows up on his left lens for a second, and similar to beat, this animation only plays during his challenge in the 2012 port. during normal gameplay, this animation is Entirely absent.
