Daniel Collier is something that most people never even thought about still existing. He says “I’ve worked with metal my whole life, it’s a family trade. I’ve always loved how elemental it is. I started making knives specifically because my wife was a chef, she used to own a restaurant on North Loop, and I wanted to make her new favorite knife. It took more than a few tries”. Daniel is a Blacksmith, Iron Grove Tool Co; the knives he forges are their income and he and his family need our help. His shop burned to the ground because of an electrical fire and the awesome Hill Country community has been raising money to help them rebuild. You can be a part of that! @twistedxbrewing hosting a fundraiser Sunday, Sept 23rd 3-6pm at their taproom. @jesspryles will be there selling and signing her recent #hardcorecarnivor book and is donating all the profits. I’ve always been a reader, and if you follow me you have probably heard me say that I have several hundred food books in my library. Here’s my BBQ, Smoking and Meat Preserving section. It’s a greatest hits of the books I actually use; the ones that resonate with my style or that have become good reference books for my cooking and writing. Almost all of these are first editions, which is something I seek out. The @jesspryles Hardcore Carnivore is super OG since the U.S. version just came out but I ordered this copy directly from Australia a couple months ago. It’s slightly different from the U.S. version and the writing comes with an Aussie accent. Following this section is my Food Writing section. I bet I have close to a hundred books there; a wide smattering of excellent tomes for tummys.
