That Jesse and Lukas interaction in season 1 is so funny to me because Lukas is literally the sweetest and most humble person ever and Jesse's just like, "Ugh, this fucking bitch again😒. Im going to fucking crush him"

There's blood in Lukas's hair.

He doesn't remember how it got there. He doesn't exactly remember how he even got to lying on the floor of what looks like PAMA's core - he just remembers his head pounding, him screaming, and vague snatches of him trying to kill Jesse.

(God, he tried to kill Jesse)

Lukas opens his eyes to see blurry, indistinguishable figures tinted red. He's aware that someone is saying something, but there must be blood or something in his ear or maybe there is isn't because heck it's a trouble to even think straight, and all the words turn into white noise that leave his ears ringing.

A strong pair of arms cradle him, and he feels a familiar hand, one he spent so long trying to muster up the courage to hold, grip onto his. Lukas thinks it's Jesse - he doesn't know it's Jesse, but he thinks it is, and it's damn better than nothing. He holds their fingers back like a life line.

Something is thrust onto the back of his head, and he jolts momentarily. Jesse's grip on him tightens as if to stop him from running away (How could he run away? He doesn't even feel able to move his legs). The... (Bandage? Ice pack?) whatever it is, is pressed firmly and there's something tying it around his head.

Jesse plants a gently kiss on his forehead, their hand stroking his hair. Lukas almost panics for a second. Shouldn't there be a chip? Shouldn't PAMA have him attempting to shove them into the void? To kill them? Or turn them into a puppet?

"It's okay Lukas." They say as he tries to squirm. "PAMA's gone."

Before he can even process it, Lukas buries himself into Jesse's embrace and clings to them like they could be gone in a moment. Because how does he know this is real when his head hurts and his mouths dry and there's blood running from his skull?

Jesse picks him up, bridal style, and Lukas weakly wraps his arms around him so he won't fall, even though they're strong enough not to. He's afraid of them leaving.

But they don't.
