I've been drawing a scene with Evelyn in it, so I've been thinking a lot about Evelyn, right? How many friends do you think she has lost because Jessie killed the friend's kid or maimed grandma or even just directly murked the friend or something? After a while? Probably a lot!

"To be a scientist is to be naive. We are so focused on our search for the truth we fail to consider how few actually want us to find it. But it is always there whether we see it or not, whether we choose to or not. The truth doesn't care about our needs or wants, it doesn't care about our governments, our ideologies, our religions. It will lie in wait for all time. And this, at last, is the gift of Chernobyl. Where I once would fear the cost of truth, now I only ask: What is the cost of lies?"

Is it just me, or are the minigames harder in Moonvale over Duskwood? I spent hours last night just trying to get one star. And when I finished the episode, I didn't realize one of the buttons meant restarting. But instead of actually restarting the minigame progress as well as the episode progress, I'm still on the harder minigame levels.
And I agree with everyone else. The minigames make no sense. There's no cloud hacking, there's just this cute and fun looking fantasy candy crush amidst the premise of a guy going missing.
Literally the only things to make me happy with the first episode was Adam and Eric (their actors did amazing and I love the casting, it really felt like talking to people with those two), the (SPOILER) first glimpse at the duskwood side plot with what Ash asks us about Duskwood in DMs, and then lastly (ANOTHER SPOILER) The body cam ending especially since I went for all the romance with Jake.
Very few things make me feel the love and nostalgia that I have for Duskwood, and for that I'm really disappointed. I was prepared to pay the ten to fifteen dollars for premium, not feel like I'm playing a choices game. It's why I always end up either deleting or never playing those games.
I miss Jake. I miss our group. I miss Duskwood.

i know there are lots of things about jessies parents being non-abusive in every litmus test way possible, but the strip where evelyn talks to jessie still has me going the vibes feels really off. like the way she calls her baby girl, she says she's not being who she is and how she should know better, then tells her what to do, instead of talking to her like she's her own person. in my head, it's emotionally abusive/infantilizing, but out of superiority/selfishness/stupidity rather than malice.
which strip is this? or do you mean the script itself? i think that evelyn's behavior in idletry itself, when her daughter has functionally unlocked omnipotence and decided murder is the best way to put it to use, is very different from her behavior in general -- although i've also posted some analysis about evelyn having subconscious resentment and contempt for jessie. you are right about that though, she does see jessie as inferior once she reaches adulthood and fails to thrive, per se, and, more, intentionally tries to abuse the power dynamic between her and jessie to control jessie's behavior once jessie unlocks grievous levels of power. the power dynamic has changed, of course, as soon as jessie gains power, so this attempt fails even after escalating to its terminal velocity, per se.
anyway, i think some people will see it as an ass pull to separate these behaviors, but i do think that the way you treat your child at age 3 and age 30 lead to very different outcomes... so when i talk about "whether evelyn and adam are abusive parents in general" the framing is specifically "is jessie the way she is in the story Because She Was Abused During Her Formative Years"
