#Marco-Marathon | The Crow
Film Name: The Crow (2024); Production Studios: Lionsgate Films, FilmNation Entertainment, Davis-Films, Pressman Film 30WEST, Ashland Hill Media Finance, The Electric Shadow Company, Media Capital Technologies, Hassell Free Productions, Edward R. Pressman Film, Czech Anglo Pictures; Director by: Rupert Sanders; Screenwriter: Kevin Cornish, Cliff Dorfman, Zach Baylin, Alex Tse, Jesse Wigutow, William Josef Schneider; Starring: Bill Skarsgård, FKA Twigs, Danny Huston, Josette Simon, Laura Birn; Genres: Fantasy, Action, Criminal, Melodrama; Running Time: 1 hour 51 minutes;
"The Crow" (2024) is a failed attempt to revive a cult classic. Despite a promising cast, including Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs, the film lacks the depth and style that made the original so iconic. The plot, which focuses heavily on the backstory of Eric and Shelly's love, feels generic and lifeless, failing to create any real emotional connection between the characters. The villain is equally forgettable, and the film’s overall aesthetic is disappointingly bland.
Directed by Rupert Sanders, known for his mediocre remakes, the movie lacks the dark, gothic atmosphere and stylish flair that defined the original. Even its action scenes, save for one gory sequence near the end, are unremarkable. Ultimately, this reboot feels unnecessary, offering little more than a pale imitation of what made the 1994 version memorable.
One Star is a weak attempt to reboot an iconic franchise that falls short of expectations.

Disney's “Tron: Ares” To Begin Filming
Tumblr media
After more than 40 years since the original film was released and after several cancellations, the most notable being in 2015, where Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde would have returned as Sam Flynn and Quorra respectively, Tron 3, which we already know will be Tron: Ares, is going from strength to strength and is doing so driven by its director, Joachim Rønning, who was also in charge of Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge as well as Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Its filming, as Collider has progressed, is will resume after the Christmas holidays. Who will we see in Tron: Ares? Although the details of the plot are still somewhat vague, we do know that it will revolve around artificial intelligence and what it means and is required to be human, recovering the words of the scriptwriter himself on his Instagram account in the publication where he announced that production was taking a break due to strikes. The Tron: Ares script is by Jesse Wigutow and is considered the sequel to Tron: Legacy, which was directed by Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joe Kosinski. We also already know that Jared Leto will lead a cast where we can also enjoy the performances of Evan Peters (Kick-Ass), Jodie Turner-Smith (No Remorse) and Greta Lee (Past Lives), who will play a video game designer and president of a technology company. Likewise, Cameron Monaghan, known for his role as Ian Gallagher in the comedy-drama Shameless and his double role as the twins Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska in the series Gotham, has also recently joined the cast, but who many of you will know for being the voice and image by Cal Kestis in several of the later Star Wars games. What is Tron about? The Tron saga is a science fiction franchise that explores the interaction between the real world and a digital universe. Beginning with programmer Kevin Flynn being transported into cyberspace, he faces challenges within a computerized world called World of Tron. The story addresses the fight between good and evil programs, while exploring themes of virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and the duality between the physical and the digital. Throughout the saga, the adventures within this virtual environment and the ethical and social conflicts that arise in this alternative reality are delved into.

‘Lion’ Director Garth Davis To Direct Disney’s New ‘Tron’ Movie With Jared Leto
After taking its time figuring out where it wants the next Tron installment to go, Disney’s sci-fi franchise looks to have new life as we are hearing Garth Davis has been tapped to direct the pic starring Jared Leto.
Davis has been better known for his smaller art house films over the years like 2018’s Mary Magdalene and his critically acclaimed 2016 drama Lion, which received six Oscar nominations including for Best Picture. Tron would mark Davis’ first tentpole, and though he is not known for big-budget projects, insiders say Davis aggressively pursued the job, eventually winning over execs.
Jesse Wigutow wrote the most recent draft of the script. Leto is producing along with Justin Springer and Emma Ludbrook.

Disney to Move Ahead with Highly-Anticipated Tron 3 With a New Director on Board
Disney’s Tron franchise has commanded a huge fan base over the last few decades. The first film titled Tron released in 1982. The Steven Lisberger directorial introduced people to the programmed world “Grid” inside a mainframe computer and gained a cult status over the years. After 28 years, Disney released a sequel Tron: Legacy. The second installment also saw the makers bring back the grid to the silver screen.
Tumblr media
According to reports, Disney was planning to make Tron 3 a couple of years back but shelved the plan due to unknown reasons. Rumors of the film going on floors were reignited when actor Jared Leto came on board. However, those plans also hit a roadblock with no reports on what was going to happen next for the film.
Tron 3 to Go Ahead with New Director On Board
According to reports, Disney has Tron 3 in the pipeline with a new face to direct the sci-fi film. Garth Davis will helm the third installment. In addition to this, the initial storyline of Tron 3 is being developed by Jesse Wigutow. However, the “upcoming” film project is still in the pre-production stage and will take quite a while to be released in cinema halls. Also, there is no official confirmation if characters from the first two movies will be back in Tron 3 or not.
Even if the script is ready and the cast is locked, there is no clarity on when the film will go into production. The reason behind this is the coronavirus pandemic. So, it could take a couple of months even before a trailer is released to offer us a glimpse of the ever-changing digital world of the grid.
Jared Leto Confirms His Involvement in Tron 3 Via Instagram Post
Rumors of the third film in the franchise have been floating around since 2017 since Jared Leto confirmed his involvement in the movie via a post on his official Instagram handle. Even though there was a gap of more than two decades between the first two films, there is still a section of fans waiting for the newest chapter in Disney’s cult classic franchise.
In his post on Instagram, Leto said that the video game and movie of the same name influenced his childhood to a great extent. He further added there was something special in store for all the fans and that the makers are working day and night to create a mind-blowing piece of work for the audience. He ended the caption with- “See you in the grid!”.
Tron: A 1982 Science Fiction Adventure
Tron is a 1982 science fiction action-adventure film directed by Steven Lisberger. The classic stars Jeffery Bridges as an American computer programmer Kevin Flynn who creates the GRID and eventually gets transported in the software of a mainframe computer. Flynn tries to escape from the grid, and this leads to him interacting with programs. However, he gets stuck in the programmed world for a lot of time. The ending of Tron sets up the base for Tron: Legacy. Jeffery Bridges played the role of a former game developer and programmer at ENCOM. He was also a proprietor of a video game arcade until he was zapped into the mainframe using a laser machine by a master control program.
Tron: Legacy
The story of the second installment revolves around Kevin Flynn’s son Sam. The young kid responds to a message by his father from a pager. This gets him all excited with the belief that his father was alive after all these years. He follows the cryptic message to his father’s gaming arcade and eventually discovers the master control program that sent his father to the “grid.” Unaware of what the machine does, Sam is also sent to the grid and goes on to find his father. The duo goes on a mission to escape virtual reality, but at the end of the movie, only Sam escapes with a program called Quorra back to earth. The film was directed by Joseph Kosinski and starred Garrett Hedlund as Sam Flynn and Olivia Wilde as the program Quorra.

Tron 3 Title Possibly Revealed by Jared Leto
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Jared Leto already has major movie franchises on his plate, but the pile just recently grew with the confirmation of his starring role for the back-on-track Tron 3. While the star’s excitement over that film’s latest development—the hiring of director Garth Davis—was palpable, it seems that said excitement might have led to a slip of Disney state secrets, specifically the film’s official title.
Tron: Ares is the title that Leto cited, apparently mistakenly, in a recent tweet that—conspicuously enough—was subsequently deleted. Indeed, in the original version of the now-reposted (as seen just below,) and edited tweet, Leto similarly confirmed his starring role, but went so far as to divulge the full title of the film for which he has been cast. The tweet in question—seemingly designed as an impromptu title reveal—was a reply to another in which the star conveys gratitude for the role, citing his own personal experience as a fan.
I am so very excited and proud to confirm that YES – I will be starring in TRON. We will work as hard as we possibly can to create something that I hope you all will love.  We have some very special ideas in store for you all…🤗 See you in the grid!👨🏼‍🎤
— JARED LETO (@JaredLeto) August 10, 2020
While Disney has yet to confirm or deny the veracity of Leto’s Tron: Ares slip, it does bear a certain ring of truth based on past information reported about the long-gestating threequel. Back in March of 2017, a report indicated that the project had started to take shape in 2015 as Tron: Ascension, which was to see the return of the 2010 Tron: Legacy triumvirate of director Joseph Kosinski and co-stars Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde. Pertinently, the Ascension script, by Jesse Wigutow, was to feature a new character named Ares, played by none other than Jared Leto. However, while the Ascension iteration never made it past pre-production, its essence is rumored to have been preserved in the new, Davis-directed film. Thus, Leto’s reported status for the now-on-track threequel seems to point to him headlining as a protagonist-upgraded version of Ascension’s Ares.
As mentioned, Tron 3 is merely the latest addition to Leto’s franchise plate, even if it’s a belated one, seeing as he’s been attached to the project since 2017. He will be seen playing the living vampire of a title character in Sony Pictures’ Marvel Cinematic Universe-adjacent Spider-Man cold spinoff film, Morbius, which is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 5, 2021; a COVID-caused delay to a premiere that was originally scheduled for July 31 of this year. Additionally, despite the success of 2019’s Joker, which yielded star Joaquin Phoenix a Best Lead Actor Oscar statue, Leto is still rumored to reprise his own tattooed, grills-sporting version of DC’s Clown Prince of Crime from 2016’s Suicide Squad, presumably once again opposite Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. However, no solid plans have manifested for that idea just yet.
For now, we’ll have to wait for all the major details about Tron 3, including confirmation of its title. However, just don’t be surprised if Disney comes out—enthusiasm deflated with the cat possibly out of the bag—and unceremoniously declares it Tron: Ares.
