I moved to Seattle from NJ. We DROVE across the country. I hadn't pumped my own gas enough times to really remember how to do it (spouse was fine since he did undergrad in philly) and maybe after the third or fourth stop when it was spouse's turn to walk the dog (I forget which state, uh, indiana maybe??), the...card reader wasnt working?So I went inside and was like. "Hi, I'd like to pay to gas up my car." And the cashier said "ok??? go ahead." ...And we just stared at each other until I blurted out "...I'M FROM JERSEY." and the cashier (honest to God a very nice Indian man) just LAUGHED at me, asked "they still don't let you do it yourself out there???" And I confirmed that, no they don't, and he kept laughing and laughing like so much that he had TEARS in his eyes??? and then I just laughed alongside with him?(bc i dont know how to NOT own up to awkward situations esp when hysterical laughter is involved)???? Lmfao he took pity on my poor soul, gave me brief instructions after i paid, and wished me luck.
