There's a myth in New Jersey about the Jersey Devil. Buddy Valastro was asked to make a female Jersey Devil to attract the Jersey devil himself. It is said that the Jersey devil curses people. During the making of this cake, Ralph got sick and couldn't continue making the cake, and the wings fell off during delivery. Those who believe in the Jersey devil think that's from the curse. All i know is that those guys created a beautiful female Jersey devil cake.
No one knows what the devil looks like, but Buddy made this cake look like every detail ever described in the stories about the Jersey devil. I think that she's lovely 😍
I love this face!! Look at the details on each feature. Spectacular craftsmanship!! Buddy is lucky to have a cake sculptor like Ralph. They make a great team!!

Was reading Lost Legends today (then went to the Shmeb-you-unlocked website). And I noticed something.
The second book on Shmeb-you-unlocked talks about the Sibling Brothers. The code beneath the book tells us that unemployed dock worker Jenkins W. Jenkins stalked the brothers and wrote about their adventures.
There's just one problem with that:
If Jenkins was a dock worker, then by definition he was employed.
And if Jenkins was an author, then by definition he was employed.

jack hughes x fem! reader
warnings?: cursing, semi slow burn, a kiss, angst and some fluff ofc
positions masterlist!
~trippin’ fallin’ with no safety net~
-
you made your way into the bar, as it was your first weekend living in jersey. you walk in and head straight to the counter, asking for a drink that was sweet and didn’t taste too strongly of alcohol.
“hey stranger.” a voice says to your right and you turn your head.
“dawson?” you say, your eyes widening.
“hey y/n.” he says opening his arms for you to hug him, which you gladly accept.
“how have you been? oh my gosh it’s been what like 3 years.” you say smiling at your old school friend.
“i’ve been good, playing hockey here is fucking awesome.” he says.
“yes! that’s right you play for the devils, how could i forget you getting drafted!” the two of you laugh.
“well how’s your boyfriend? haven’t seen him in a few years either.” he asks curiously.
“funny you should ask, i broke up with him and that’s why i moved here.”
“wait really? why? you don’t have to explain if you’re not comfortable.” the brunette boy asks leaning on the counter.
“well things were so great when we started dating our senior year but within the last year he became a real fucking asshole, so i broke it off and moved away so he couldn’t try to find me and sucker me into being with him again.” you explain, leaving out any details you weren’t ready to share.
“well shit, i’m sorry y/n. i bet that hurt a lot.”
“it did but i’m over it, ready to find someone else.” you say and you practically see the light bulb turn on over his head.
“i think i have someone i want you to meet.” he smirks. you grab your drink and follow close behind him, holding onto his arm.
“hey jack!” dawson says to a brunette boy with bright blue eyes.
“what’s up daws, who’s this?” he says looking at you. you release dawson’s arm and give him a smile.
“jack this is y/n, y/n this is jack.” he says looking between you two.
“nice to meet you, jack.” you say.
“yeah, you too.” he smiles, causing a blush to burn in your cheeks.
“i have to go to the bathroom, you two have fun. don’t get too drunk.” he says giggling and walking off to the bathroom.
“so y/n, what brings you to jersey?” he asks.
“just needed a change of scenery from my hometown. dawson and i went to highschool together.” you tell him.
“oh wow, small world. are you still new to living here or?”
“yeah this is only my first weekend but i’m glad im already meeting people, it was getting pretty lonely.” you laugh.
“well now that you’ve reconnected with dawson, you have a whole new group of people to hang out with.”
“oh are you guys like on the same team?” you ask.
“yeah we are, my brothers around here somewhere. probably tongue deep in some random girl.” he laughs.
“is he older or younger?”
“younger.” he says taking a sip of his drink.
“oh nice.” you smile doing the same.
“can i get your number?” he asks.
“yeah of course.” you say as he hands you his phone.
“what have i missed?” a tall, curly haired boy asks.
“ah yes, y/n, this is my brother luke.”
“nice to meet you.” you say.
“nice to meet you too.” he replies.
“so where were you?” jack asks as i hand him his phone back.
“i was talking to john but i didn’t wanna ruin his game so i came back.” he laughs.
“johnny getting some ladies?”
“he sure was.” luke laughs, taking a sip of his beer.
“i see you’ve met the other one.” dawson says returning from the bathroom.
“yes i have.” i laugh at him. you spent the next 2 hours with the boys, enjoying their presence and the fact that you’d made some friends in your new town.
“well i think im gonna call it a night.” you say taking the final sip of your drink.
“let me walk you?” jack asks.
“yeah sure.” you accept and the two of you make your way out of the bar.
“did you walk here or drive?” he asks stopping once you made it outside.
“oh i walked, i live like two blocks away.”
“okay cool, show me the way.” he says.
“jack you don’t have to.”
“i’m not letting you walk back to your apartment by yourself at midnight in a big city y/n.” he says firmly.
“oh, thank you.” you blush and begin your walk to your apartment. the walk was filled with small talk and laughter, the chemistry between you two growing more and more with seemingly every step.
“well this is my place.” you say arriving at your door.
“alright, have a good night y/n. i’ll text you.” he says as you pull him in for a side hug.
“goodnight jack.” you say shutting the door behind you. it’s been 5 days and you already have a crush on someone you just met. it felt almost wrong. you had broken up with your boyfriend just two weeks ago. you couldn’t allow yourself to move on too quickly. your phone buzzed in your back pocket and you see that dawson had texted you.
dawson: glad you made it back safe!
y/n: thank you! except really you can thank jack
dawson: hahaha well i guess so🙄 have a good night y/n
y/n: you too, see you again soon?
dawson: yes for sure, season starts in like a month and a half i’m sure you’ll get sick of seeing me
y/n: doubt it
dawson: only bc ill bring jack
y/n: bitch
dawson: i’m messing with you lmaooooo goodnight y/n
y/n: goodnight daws😭
-
you woke up the next morning to a text from jack saying good morning, to which you replied with a simple, good morning. texting a new guy felt so wrong. you didn’t know what to do about it but you couldn’t ghost him so you figure you should just keep chatting and see what happens.
“lunch?” you say reading his next text. the boy asked you to lunch, to which you hesitantly agreed to join him. you made yourself a small breakfast to tide you until lunch. you sat on the couch watching tv, growing more nervous by the second. he didn’t ask you on a date, just lunch. maybe he just wants to be friends? after you ate, you put on a casual outfit and added a natural touch to your makeup. he texted the address and you left your apartment, hoping to arrive after him. once you arrive at the, what appears to be, small coffee shop, you’re greeted by jack smiling at the counter.
“sorry i’m a little late.” you laugh nervously.
“no don’t worry, i was just about to order. what do you want?”
“oh jack you don’t have to pay i can’t wait in line.” you say.
“now what kind of man would i be to let a pretty girl like you wait in line and pay for her own food?” he says boldly, a blush creeping up on your cheeks.
“an iced vanilla latte and a buttered croissant is good then.” you simply reply, finding a seat at a table by a large window. he meets you soon after, with a table number in his hand.
“you ever been here before?” he asks, noticing you staring out the window.
“i haven’t, i didn’t even know it was here until you told me about it.” you say redirecting your attention to the boy who already had his eyes on you.
“i come here sometimes, it’s like my special little spot for special occasions.” he smiles leaning back in his chair.
“what’s so special about this occasion?” you question, wanting real answers.
“it’s our first date.” he smirks causing your face to burn bright red.
“well i guess it is isn’t it.” you laugh.
-
once you arrive back at your apartment, you throw your purse to the side and kick off your shoes.
“what have i done? what do i do? oh fuck me, i can’t do this.” you say, that piece of your heart never healing from your past relationship. you couldn’t let go of the mistrust you felt. you never wanted to make the same mistake again, so you called dawson.
“hello?” you speak when he picks up.
“hey y/n, what’s up?”
“can you come over, i need advice.”
“yeah of course, send me your address and i’ll be there.”
“thank you so much, bye daws.” you say hanging up and sending him your address. you sat on your couch almost in a panic. you told yourself over and over to not do this again, especially this soon. a short 10 minutes later, you hear a knock on your door and you open it to see dawson standing there in his sweats.
“did i wake you from a nap?” you laugh.
“yes actually you did, but it’s okay, what’s up?” he says stepping in and shutting the door behind him.
“jack is what’s up.”
“oh?” he says plopping down on my couch.
“so we went out to lunch, he called it our first date.” you say.
“okay what’s the problem with that?” he says.
“you’re not understanding, my ex and i broke up what 3 weeks ago? i can’t move on, how do i know i can trust him?”
“y/n, jacks a nice guy, i wouldn’t have introduced you two if i thought otherwise.”
“i just think it’s too soon dawson.”
“relax, calm down, chill out.” he says standing up and placing his hands on your biceps.
“how am i supposed to be calm?”
“y/n, no one is rushing you into a relationship. you are not committed to the guy, you went on ONE date. you aren’t married to him, just relax. i know it’s hard, i don’t know all the details of your break up but obviously you let your mistrust cloud your vision of good people. i wouldn’t let you go down a dark rabbit hole, and you know that.” he says calming your nerves. dawson always had a way of getting to you and calming you down when necessary, even though it had been years since you last saw the boy.
“okay you’re right.” you say sighing.
“and you don’t have to worry, he’s leaving to go to michigan for a couple days tomorrow, so you can spend time away from him and just texting, so you can get to know him better without it being to serious for you.” he adds.
“perfect.” you laugh.
“now why don’t we chill out and watch a movie, you’re clearly stressed and i want you to clear your mind.” he states, grabbing the remote and switching on the tv. after a couple hours, dawson heads home, leaving you alone with nothing but your phone.
jack: hey i’m headed to michigan tmrw morning, hang when im back?
y/n: yes for sure!
jack: ok awesome, see you then
y/n: *loved a message*
you sat with your thoughts. you were terrified of the possibilities with jack, you couldn’t help it. it’s like your brain had been hardwired to push him away, but you fought the urge harder than anyone could ever know.
-
it had been about two weeks and jack returned from his trip a few days ago. the two of you have been texting nonstop. you learned the silly facts about each other and his personality shined through even on text. he was beginning to give you that glimpse of hope that you thought you’d lost for good.
“i just don’t know.” you spoke to dawson through the phone.
“he’s never texted a girl this long, he obviously likes you.”
“well you never know.”
“he has had women throw themselves at him and he’s rejected all of them. don’t you see it.”
“i do but i just don’t know if it’s the best idea.”
“y/n, just give it another go. go on another date with him. you won’t regret it, you and i both know that as much as you don’t want to admit that your crush is more than just a silly little crush.”
“god, daws you always know how to pick my brain what is wrong with you?” you laugh.
“um nothing, im just correct.” he scoffs.
“okay whatever, ill call him tonight okay?” you reply hoping it’ll shut him up.
“i’m holding you to it, so you better.”
“whatever mercer.”
-
“hello?” you hear a muffled jack on the other end of the line.
“hey jack, i was wondering if maybe you’d wanna go out again some time? i had a great time with you.”
“yeah absolutely!”
“does tomorrow work?” you ask, holding your breath.
“yeah i don’t have any plans. ill come pick you up at 1?”
“perfect.” you smile to yourself.
“i’ll see you tomorrow y/n.”
“bye jack.” you say hanging up the phone, wanting to scream with excitement. you had no clue how this could feel the way it does so soon after your breakup.
-
2 months later
“hey,” jack says shaking you awake.
“huh.” you groan opening your eyes.
“i have a skate to go to, ill be back okay?” he says, you fully processing your surroundings.
“oh, yeah okay. have fun.” you smile as he leans down to kiss you on the cheek. you’d stayed the night at his house just like you have for a few nights every week since your second date though you never established a label for your relationship, just placing the boyfriend name tag on him when you’re out by yourself, too afraid to use it around him. the idea of him leaving you to skate sucked, and you shoved down these feelings so they wouldn’t get in the way of anything. you never wanted him to leave your sight. you hated that you’d grown so attached. you pulled out your phone to call dawson, always filling him in with updates.
“hey miss hughes, what you up to?” he asks picking up.
“dawson stop,” you laugh, “i just woke up, jack just left for optional skate.”
“oh that’s funny i’m on my way there now.”
“i’m sure he’ll ive you all the details.”
“yeah he always does but you’re gonna tell me what’s going on in that little brain of yours first.”
“i hate when he leaves dude. i hate it. i feel like i have no right to be this attached. being around him makes me so fucking happy, it’s like all my problems disappear when he’s around. but i need to face it, he probably doesn’t even want me.”
“you’re lying but go on.”
“lying about what?”
“you really think he ever keeps girls around this long if he doesn’t wanna be with them? be for real with yourself y/n.” he says plainly.
“okay well, point is, i’ve grown attached and i don’t understand my feelings daws.”
“i think you love him.” he laughs.
“you’re crazy.” you scoff.
“did you listen to anything you just said?”
“what part?”
“god damnit, think before you speak y/n. the way you feel when you’re around him is love. practically in its exact definition.”
“it’s only been 3 months that i’ve known the guy.”
“bitch do you really think love has a timeline?”
“well n-“
“THEN GO GET HIM.”
“i’m not gonna go, he’s skating.”
“i meant it figuratively, just wait for him to come back and see how different you feel compared to talking to me on the phone. don’t leave. don’t panic and push him away y/n. give him a shot.”
“okay okay, ill talk to you later dawson.”
“alright, bye y/n.” he says hanging up abruptly. you knew deep down that he was probably right and you couldn’t admit it to yourself. you sat on his couch for a few hours, waiting to hear the lock turn again, when suddenly it did.
“oh hey, you’re still here? i thought you’d be gone by now.” he laughs, hanging his keys on the hook.
“no i wanted to stay, your couch is cozy.”
“well i’m glad you’re still here.” he says, kissing you on top of the head as he passed behind the couch. dawson was right, you felt giddy when jack entered the room, and the feeling didn’t settle. he returns back to the living room.
“you look like you’re thinking.” he says sitting down next to you. you sit up and turn to him.
“i am thinking.” you say, anxiety running through your body at full speed, knee bouncing.
“what’s on that pretty mind of yours?” he giggles placing a hand on your leg gently.
“i think i love you.” you say quietly, the words slipping off your tongue with struggle. you finally let yourself trip and fall. it felt almost freeing. his demeanor shifts as a smile grows on his face. he sits up to get closer to you.
“what was that?” he asks, smile growing wider.
“i think i love you. no no, i do. i do love you. i love you jack. i know we never attached a label to whatever we are but i can’t keep pushing my feelings away anymore. i just love you.” you say finally being able to lock eyes with him. he connects your lips in response, framing your cheek with his callused hand. when you pull away his gorgeous smile returns.
“fuck, i love you too y/n.” he laughs, a wave of relief washing over you. you couldn’t believe how jack changed your perspective on love and men so quickly but it never felt more true to you. you couldn’t deny your feelings anymore no matter how hard you tried. you finally let yourself fall, and thank god it was into the right hands this time.

hidden sides - Luke Hughes
summary; Luke Hughes x reader
Luke Hughes is the most adorable, sweetest boyfriend you ever wished for and full of surprises.
warning(s); none, pure fluff, maybe grammar errors
author's note; thinking about part 2, what do you think?
--------------------------------------------------------------
It's a mystery how you became in a relationship with Luke. You're not a victoria secret model, you have a normal body weight and love to eat. You love to watch Luke's games in the arena with fingerfood in your hands. You met Luke as a hard working, all time hungry young man. He thinks twice before he does something risky.
"I miss you", you sigh over the phone. "I miss you too", you can hear Luke's typical accent, laying his head on the pillow. He is tired after traveling the whole day and the workout after arriving the hotel.
"I wish I could support you on your next game", smiling at him. "can you take a look under your bed, please?", his voice sounds raspy. As fast as you can you check the area and find a package with the new jersey devils logo. "What is this?", you open the box within seconds. "Omg omg OMG!", you jump after touching the jersey between your fingers, "it's a jersey with your name!", you squeak. "I know you love hockey games and you're my girlfriend now so-", Luke blushes. He saw you watching tiktoks with these romantic hockey pictures with kissing and it's on his bucket list to give you the romance in real life. He knows Curtis will roast him for these cheesy things. But what can he say? He's weak for you.
"Ahh thank you!!", you hug this jersey tight with his name and number on it. Best day ever.
After a big loss for the devils Luke will be back. Five days after this cute present.
You can't wait until he comes back, stalking on your door like a waiting puppy. You can hear a car, then big steps until the door bell rings.
Luke is back!
"Arggh!", you open the door, jumping in Luke's arms. "hey", he laughs and kisses your hair, let you standing again and gives you a real kiss, full of passionate.
"I saw these and reminded me of you!", Luke gives you white roses, you grin like a winner. No one else ever did this for you.
"You're such a gentleman!", you smirk even more. "If you don't-", you interrupt him with a quick kiss, before he can overthink.
"But what is this?", you get sceptical, a grocery bag in his left hand. "oh", he gets shy and blushes again, "you told me you have issues with your skin-", he breathes out, "yeah?", you raise an eyebrow.
"-so I called mum what's good for skin and bought beauty stuff and face masks-", he shows his teeth. "before you get mad I couldn't decide and I know you love glitter so I bought everything colorful with glitter", he touches his neck in awkwardness. You chuckle. It's so cute how much he reminds little details.
"I didn't know your hidden side, Luke Hughes!", you wink. "hidden side?", he's confused. Is it bad?
"Yeah, as a passionate, very caring and detailed boyfriend", you smile. It's almost disgusting how much you crush on this man. "I'm not painting my nails", he warns you with a boyish voice.
"Let's eat dinner first", you kiss his cheek and walk in the kitchen without answering about this.
"Oh yes, food!", sparkles comes in his eyes. He's more than hungry.
"Oh by the way mom would like to meet you", he gets nervous. Your relationship is fresh and maybe it's too early for this step. But he has too much respect for his mom to say no.
"You were afraid to say no, ain't that true?", you laugh, watching the tall hockey pro getting nervous about such things. "I'd love to meet your most important people in your life".
"I didn't know if I upset you with the news so I reserved in the restaurant next street ", he looks in your eyes, he didn't know you cooked.
"but I cooked", you get disappointed.
"yeah I didn't think you would make dinner, I'll call them", Luke hectically puts his phone out of his pocket. "Let me freeze in the food and let us enjoy your fantastic idea for a date night", you hug his wrist.
"you're not mad?", he asks.
"no"
"thank god because I'm craving after Italian food"

𝐅𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀 𝐈𝐒 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐋 𝐎𝐅 𝐀 𝐃𝐑𝐔𝐆 ─ LH⁴³
TRACK 8 ─── FLORIDA!!!
TTPD CELLY MASTERLIST !
౨ৎ ─ summary | after a fight with your longtime boyfriend, you escape to florida and find unexpected solace in luke, igniting a passionate connection amidst sun-soaked adventures. as your relationship deepens, the shadow of your past complicates everything, leading to a confrontation that forces you both to confront your true feelings
─ word count | 6k
─ warnings | NSFW (with a lot of plot) under the cut! read at your own discretion, p in v, praise, nothing too crazy. a lot of fluff, infidelity, pretty fluffy but angsty toward the end. no happy ending... sorry not sorry
You hadn't meant to come to Florida. Not really. It was one of those spontaneous, half-baked decisions that seemed brilliant in the middle of the night but questionable in the cold light of day.
Still, here you were, standing in the middle of the sand, the wind tugging at your hair as the sound of the waves crashed against the shore. After that fight—your mind flits back to your boyfriend's voice, the sharpness of his words still lingering—you needed an escape. Something far away, where no one knew you, where the ache in your chest could fade, even if just for a little while.
You hadn’t expected to find solace in someone else.
Yet, when you first saw that curly head of hair, lounging by the pool, sunglasses on; the weight of the world seemingly resting on his shoulders, something about him made you pause. He looked just as lost, just as far away from his life as you felt from yours.
You hadn’t planned on talking to him.
But then, he caught you staring. You tried to look away quickly, embarrassed, but it was too late—he smiled, that kind of easy, lazy grin that made your heart skip a beat.
It was supposed to be a vacation. A break from everything.
But now, as you sit across from Luke, sipping cocktails and laughing like you’ve known each other for years, you wonder if this wasn’t exactly what you needed.
Forget about the fight. Forget about him. For now, there’s just you, Luke, and the sun setting over the ocean.
Luke liked the idea of you.
It was refreshing, really. You had no idea who he was. Not in the way people usually did, anyway. You weren’t fawning over his hockey career or asking for photos to post online. You didn’t ask for autographs or drop little hints that you knew all about his stats. No, you just saw him—the guy sitting by the pool with the messy curls and tired eyes. The guy who seemed to be looking for an escape, just like you.
In fact, when he first mentioned hockey, you shrugged like it was just another random hobby, something people did on the weekends. You weren’t even a big fan of sports, which he found kind of funny, considering how much his life revolved around the game. Well—his entire life was hockey.
He didn’t mind. Actually, he liked it. It was a reminder that he was more than just a name on a jersey or a face plastered across sports highlights. With you, there were no expectations, no weight of his career pressing down on him. He didn’t have to be Luke Hughes, Devils defenseman. He could just be Luke from Michigan.
And for you, that was all he needed to be.
You weren’t sure how you ended up spending most of your days with him, but it felt natural—like falling into step with someone who’d been walking beside you all along. The conversation was easy, flowing from one topic to the next, never forced. Sometimes, you talked about your lives in vague terms, both of you dancing around the details of what brought you here, to this moment. He mentioned the pressures of his career, the endless grind, the expectations from fans, coaches, and teammates. You told him about the fight with your boyfriend, how things had felt off for months now, how you’d been trying to hold it together but didn’t know if you could anymore.
“I get it,” Luke said one afternoon, his voice quiet as you both stared out at the ocean, the waves crashing rhythmically in the distance. “Sometimes, you just need to get away from everything.”
You nodded, grateful for the understanding in his tone. It wasn’t pity, and it wasn’t judgment. Just an acknowledgment that life could be heavy, that sometimes it was too much to carry alone.
The days blurred together in the best way. Mornings were spent walking along the beach, the sand cool beneath your feet, the sun slowly warming the sky. Sometimes, you and Luke would rent bikes and ride along the coastline, the wind whipping through your hair as you laughed and raced each other. Evenings were for cocktails by the pool or quiet dinners in small, tucked-away restaurants, where the glow of candlelight made everything feel a little more intimate.
And in between, there were the little moments—the shared glances, the casual touches, the way his hand would brush against yours when he passed you a drink, lingering just a second too long. It was slow, almost unspoken, but you could feel the shift between you, like a tide quietly rising. The air around you seemed heavier when you were close, charged with something neither of you were quite ready to name.
One night, after a particularly long day in the sun, you found yourselves back at his hotel room. It wasn’t planned, just a natural progression after dinner. The soft glow of the room’s lighting reflected off the windows, casting shadows across the floor as you both collapsed onto the couch. Luke stretched out beside you, his arm thrown casually behind your shoulders, and you leaned into him, feeling the warmth of his skin through his yellow Michigan t-shirt.
“Do you ever wish things were simpler?” you asked quietly, your gaze fixed on the soft flicker of the TV in front of you. Some show was playing, but neither of you were really watching.
Luke tilted his head down, looking at you with a soft smile. “Every day,” he said, his voice low. “Especially now.”
You didn’t need to ask what he meant. You knew. The weight of expectations, the pressure to always be ‘on,’ it was exhausting. And for you, the constant strain of a relationship that seemed to be fraying at the edges had taken its toll. There was a comfort in the fact that, for both of you, this—whatever this was—felt uncomplicated.
“You make it easier,” you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper.
Luke’s hand slid down to yours, his fingers brushing over your knuckles, slow and gentle. “You too,” he said softly. “I haven’t felt this…normal in a long time.”
There it was again. That unspoken something hanging between you. The electricity that seemed to buzz in the air whenever you were near him. You could feel it now, stronger than ever, as his thumb traced idle circles against the back of your hand.
Your heart pounded, louder than the sound of the TV, louder than the faint hum of the air conditioning. You could feel the tension between you building, thick and undeniable. You turned to face him, your eyes meeting his, and for a moment, neither of you said anything. You just stared, your breath catching in your throat as the space between you felt like it was shrinking by the second.
“I think I need this,” you whispered, not sure if you were talking about the moment, the escape, or maybe just Luke himself.
His gaze flicked down to your lips, hesitating for a split second before he leaned in. The touch of his lips was soft at first, tentative, like he was testing the waters. But then, it deepened, a spark igniting between the two of you that made your heart race.
The kiss was electric—something you hadn’t felt in what felt like forever. It stirred something inside you that had long been dormant, like flicking a switch you’d forgotten even existed. Your stomach flipped in that way your friends always talked about, but you hadn’t believed in until this moment. Every nerve in your body lit up, a warmth spreading through you, hotter than the sun beating down on you earlier that day.
You leaned in closer, your hands instinctively finding their way to his shoulders, gripping the fabric of his shirt as if you were afraid to let go. Luke’s hand cradled the back of your head, pulling you into him, his other hand resting on your waist, sending jolts of heat through your skin.
It was intoxicating, the way he kissed you—slow and deliberate, but filled with a kind of intensity that made you forget where you were, forget the world outside. All that mattered was the moment, the feeling of him so close, and the way your body seemed to come alive under his touch.
You hadn’t realized just how much you’d been craving this—the feeling of being wanted, of being seen in a way that your relationship back home had long since stopped providing. The thought of your boyfriend flickered briefly in the back of your mind, but you pushed it away, buried it beneath the growing need, the pull you felt toward Luke in this moment.
His lips left yours for just a second, and you could feel his breath warm against your skin as he whispered, “You okay?”
You opened your eyes, meeting his, and the intensity there made you shiver despite the heat. You nodded, your voice caught somewhere in your throat, too overwhelmed by everything—the kiss, the rush of adrenaline, the way your heart hammered against your chest—to say anything coherent. But it didn’t matter. Luke’s thumb traced the edge of your jaw, his gaze locked on yours like he could read every unspoken thought in your mind.
He leaned in again, kissing you softer this time, slower. And that’s when it hit you—how different this felt. How different he felt. You couldn’t remember the last time your boyfriend kissed you like this, like you were the only person in the world. Like he didn’t want to let you go.
But Luke didn’t know. He didn’t know that you were still tethered to someone else. That your life back home wasn’t just messy—it was complicated, hanging on by a thread that you weren’t sure you had the strength to cut just yet.
For now, though, you let yourself get lost in it. Lost in Luke, in the warmth of his lips and the feel of his hands on you, in the way he made you forget everything else. Just for a little while. Just for now.
That was how most of your days were spent, now. You were completely lost in Luke.
Every morning started the same: you’d wake up to the soft glow of sunlight filtering through the curtains, your body still tangled in the warmth of his sheets. Luke was always there beside you, his arm casually draped over your waist or his legs intertwined with yours. It felt easy, waking up with him, like the two of you had done this a thousand times before.
There was a kind of comfort in the quiet moments between sleep and wakefulness, the way you’d lie there for a while, wrapped up in each other, the world outside his room feeling distant and irrelevant.
But it wasn’t just the mornings. The entire day seemed to revolve around Luke. Whether it was lounging by the pool, the two of you exchanging lazy smiles and playful banter, or taking spontaneous drives along the coast with the windows down and the salty breeze in your hair. Everything felt easy with him.
You talked for hours—about his love for hockey, the relentless schedule that had worn him down, and the expectations that weighed heavy on his shoulders. He never once mentioned his fame, never flaunted who he was. He didn’t have to. In these moments, Luke wasn’t the NHL player, the up-and-coming star, Jack and Quinn Hughes' little brother; he was just a guy who wanted to escape the noise, to find something that felt real. That was real.
And you were that escape for him, just like he was for you.
Your days were sun-soaked, spent laughing and talking about nothing and everything, with the kind of connection that felt rare, almost surreal. You explored the small coastal towns, eating seafood at hole-in-the-wall diners and watching the sunset dip below the horizon from hidden stretches of beach.
There was something intimate about the way he looked at you during those sunsets, his arm slung over your shoulders as you both watched the sky turn shades of pink and orange. It was as if the rest of the world didn’t exist, like it was just the two of you in this bubble, suspended in time.
But the nights—those were different.
At night, things shifted. When the sun dipped below the horizon, there was an urgency in the way Luke would pull you close, his lips finding yours in the darkness. The heat between you grew, the stolen glances during the day giving way to something deeper, something neither of you could deny. The connection you shared became more than just a distraction from your problems. It became a lifeline, something you both clung to, even though you knew it couldn’t last forever.
But you didn’t think about that. Not in the heat of his touch, not when his hands were on your skin, making you feel alive in a way you hadn’t in so long. Each night felt like a new beginning, like a fresh chance to forget everything outside this small slice of paradise you’d carved out for yourselves.
You found yourself falling deeper into Luke. The way he laughed, how his smile always reached his eyes, how effortlessly he made you feel like you were the only person that mattered. He wasn’t just a fleeting escape anymore. He was becoming your reality, a reality that was infinitely better than the one waiting for you back home.
Home.
The word weighed heavier on you with each passing day. You hadn’t told Luke about your boyfriend, hadn’t mentioned the fight or the messy relationship you were running from. And with every kiss, every shared moment, the guilt gnawed at the back of your mind. But it was easy to push it aside when you were with him. So easy to pretend like you weren’t still tethered to someone else.
With Luke, everything felt perfect. It was an illusion, you knew that. This vacation couldn’t last forever, and at some point, you would have to face the reality you’d left behind. But for now—for as long as you could—you let yourself get lost in Luke. You let yourself believe that maybe, just maybe, this could be enough.
───
Luke placed the cherry in your mouth, his fingers brushing against your lips, sending a jolt of electricity through you. You giggled, feeling the tension simmer between you two as you leaned back against the couch, your body sinking into the cushions. But the playful smile that curled on your lips couldn't hide the heat building beneath the surface.
His eyes lingered on your mouth as you bit down on the cherry, and something shifted in the air. The teasing, carefree vibe from earlier dissolved into something much heavier, more charged. Luke’s gaze was intense now, watching you in a way that made your heart race, your skin flush with a warmth that had nothing to do with the Florida heat.
You swallowed, the taste of the cherry lingering on your tongue, but the moment felt too thick, too heavy to laugh off. Luke’s hand rested on the cushion beside your thigh, so close that you could feel the warmth of him, but still not close enough. His body leaned forward just a little, his lips quirking up in that same lazy grin that had caught your attention by the pool days ago, but his eyes were darker now—filled with something you both had been ignoring for too long.
You held his gaze, feeling the weight of it settle in your chest, your breathing shallow as your mind raced. This was different. This wasn’t just lighthearted flirting anymore. There was something undeniable between the two of you, something you both wanted but had danced around, pretending it wasn’t real. But now, with Luke leaning closer, his fingers grazing the bare skin of your leg, it was impossible to ignore.
"Want another?" His voice was low, almost a murmur, but there was a playful edge to it, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly as he reached for another cherry, twirling it between his fingers.
You shook your head, biting your lip as you looked at him through hooded eyes. "I think you know what I want."
Luke’s grin widened, but it was slow, deliberate, like he was savoring the moment. His hand shifted, and before you could even process it, his fingers were tracing the edge of your jaw, his thumb brushing the corner of your mouth, wiping away a drop of juice from the cherry. The simple touch sent a shiver down your spine, your body reacting to him in ways you couldn’t control.
“Do I?” His voice was rough, teasing, but there was a challenge in his tone, one that made your heart skip a beat. He leaned in closer, so close that you could feel his breath on your skin, smell the faint scent of his expensive cologne lingering in the air between you. “Maybe you should tell me.”
You swallowed hard, your throat dry as his fingers lingered on your face, tracing the line of your jaw down to your neck, sending sparks through your skin. Your mind was spinning, torn between the guilt that flickered in the back of your mind and the overwhelming need that had taken over your body.
Your lips parted, but no words came out, just a soft breath as Luke closed the distance between you. His lips brushed against yours, featherlight at first, barely a kiss, just a tease that made you ache for more. You could feel the restraint in him, the way he was holding back, but the heat between you two was undeniable.
You tilted your head up, pressing into him just a little, and that was all it took.
Luke’s lips crashed into yours with a hunger that made your pulse race, his hand sliding up your neck, fingers tangling in your hair as he pulled you closer. The kiss was messy, desperate, full of need that neither of you could deny any longer. Your body reacted instinctively, leaning into him, your hands gripping his shirt as you tugged him down against you, wanting him closer, needing him closer.
His weight pressed against you, pinning you to the couch as his hands roamed your body, fingers tracing the curves of your waist, your hips, igniting a fire in your core that you hadn’t felt in what felt like forever. The world outside didn’t exist anymore. There was no fight, no boyfriend, no past—just Luke and the way he made you feel, like you were the only person in the world.
His lips left yours, trailing down your jaw, your neck, sucking softly on the sensitive skin just below your ear, and you gasped, arching into him. You could feel the tension in his body, the way he held himself back, trying not to move too fast, but you didn’t care anymore. You wanted him, needed him, more than you’d ever realized.
"Luke..." you whispered, breathless, your fingers tightening in his curly locks as he sucked lightly on your neck. Your mind was spinning, lost in the feeling of him, lost in the heat between you two.
He pulled back slightly, his forehead resting against yours, his breath coming out in shallow pants as he looked down at you. “Are you sure about this?”
You nodded, your lips brushing against his as you whispered, “Yes.” There was no hesitation in your voice now, no doubt. You wanted this. You wanted him.
Luke’s eyes darkened with desire, and before you could say another word, his lips were on yours again, kissing you like he was drowning and you were the air he needed to breathe.
You wrapped your legs around his waist, your lips still connected. Luke's hands explored every curve of your body, his touch sending shivers down your spine. His fingers gripped your hips, then traced your sides, pausing at your waist as if memorizing every inch of you. His touch was both gentle and hungry, like he couldn’t get enough of you, but was savoring every moment, every sensation.
Your heart was pounding, so fast you thought he might hear it, but the only sound filling the room was your ragged breaths and the soft, wet sounds of your lips moving against his. His weight on top of you, the heat of his body, the way his lips trailed along your neck and down to your collarbone—it was intoxicating, pulling you further into the moment.
“God, I need you so bad,” Luke murmured against your skin, his voice hoarse and filled with a rawness that sent a thrill through you.
He kissed his way down your neck, his lips warm and soft, while his hands slid beneath the fabric of your shirt, fingers brushing over your bare skin, sending shockwaves through your entire body.
You arched into him, a soft moan escaping your lips as his hands moved higher, his touch igniting something deep inside you. You felt the tension coiling, building in your stomach, an ache that only he could soothe. Your fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him back to your mouth, kissing him harder, your body responding instinctively to the desire coursing through you.
Luke groaned, his grip tightening as he pressed his hips against yours, and you gasped, your body reacting instantly to the friction, to the way his body fit so perfectly against yours. It was dizzying, the way your mind spun, your thoughts consumed by nothing but him.
“I want you, please,” you whispered, the words slipping out before you could even think, your voice thick with need. You hadn’t planned on saying it, hadn’t thought you’d feel this much, but the way Luke made you feel, the way his body moved against yours, it was undeniable.
Luke stilled for a moment, his forehead pressing against yours as he caught his breath. His eyes searched yours, dark and intense, like he was trying to read every thought in your head, to make sure you meant it. “You sure?” he asked, his voice low, the question a mix of concern and desire.
You nodded, your legs tightening around him, pulling him impossibly closer. “Yes,” you breathed, your voice barely above a whisper. “I’m sure.”
That was all it took.
Luke’s lips crashed against yours again, and this time, there was no holding back. His hands moved with purpose, tugging at your shirt, his fingers skimming across your skin as he pulled it over your head and tossed it aside. His lips followed, kissing down your chest, his touch sending sparks of pleasure shooting through you. You gasped, your body arching into him, your fingers gripping his shoulders as you pulled him closer, needing more, needing all of him.
The heat between you two was unbearable, the tension that had been simmering for days finally boiling over. There was no room for second thoughts, no space for anything but the overwhelming desire that consumed both of you.
Luke’s hands were everywhere, exploring, teasing, driving you wild with every touch. You couldn’t get enough of him, the way he felt against you, the way he kissed you like he was afraid this moment might slip away if he let go for even a second. And you kissed him back with the same urgency, your bodies moving in sync, every touch, every kiss pulling you further and further into each other.
Luke pulled away for a second, glancing to make sure you were alright. You gave him a small nod, breathless, pleading with him to hurry up. He slowly pulled down his pants, revealing his bulge. You were practically drooling at the mere sight, your head falling back.
You felt his hands graze your underwear, feeling the warmth underneath. His breath hitched at the feeling, his jaw slacking slightly.
“So beautiful,” he mumbled before moving your underwear to the side. You heard his heavy breathing, and you opened your eyes to meet his eyes as you nodded again.
“Please,” you sighed.
Luke led his tip to your aching pussy, groaning at the warm feeling despite not even being inside of you yet. He slowly pushed in, a relieved sigh leaving both of you. The world outside felt like it had faded into nothing, and all that remained was this—this moment, this heat, this connection between you and Luke.
“Oh, fuck,” Luke cried out as his head fell back. “Feels so good, baby,” he praised. He slowly bottomed you out, and you swore you could feel him all the way up to your throat,
You wrapped your legs tighter around his waist as you moaned, letting your eyes flutter shut in pure pleasure. As he began thrusting in and out of you, you swore you were seeing stars.
As he continued slamming into you, with more force and effort, all you could think about was him; the way he made you feel like you were the only thing that mattered in the world. It wasn't just sex, it was more—and you hoped he felt it, too.
The quick creaking of the couch and your moans were the only thing that could be heard in room. Luke leaned in, pressing his forehead against yours before pushing his lips against yours. One of his hands slid up your body, thinly wrapping around your neck as he began snapping his hips against yours.
“Baby, fuck,” he groaned into the kiss as he furrowed his eyebrows in concentration. “Shit, you feel so good.”
You felt the familiar knot in your lower stomach begin to form, causing your head fall back into the couch. “Oh, Luke, 'm so close,”
Luke's other hand found your clit, rubbing it harshly as he felt himself getting closer and closer to his climax. A few more deep slams into your cunt, and the two of you came with a shaking force.
And you realized it was more than just a distraction now, more than just an escape. Luke had become something you hadn’t expected—something real, something you craved, something that made you forget about everything else.
“Oh my god,” you cried out, letting the orgasm ripple out of you, gripping his biceps. “Oh, fuck.”
Luke didn't move—he stayed inside of you, letting the orgasm slowly subside. His forehead rested gently against yours, both of you still catching your breath, the heat of the moment slowly giving way to something softer. Luke’s familiar, boyish smile tugged at the corner of his lips, a mixture of satisfaction and a hint of shyness now that the intensity had faded. It made you laugh, a small, breathless sound that broke the silence.
You opened your eyes and met his, finding that same playful sparkle in his gaze, though there was something more in them now, too—something deeper, warmer. His expression made your heart swell in your chest, a strange sense of peace washing over you in the aftermath.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” you teased, brushing a strand of his curls away from his forehead, your fingers lingering in his hair.
Luke grinned wider, his breath still uneven as he shifted slightly to pull you closer, his arms wrapping around you like he didn’t want to let go. “Just... appreciating the moment,” he murmured, his voice low and soft. His thumb brushed over your arm in lazy circles, his touch gentle now, almost reverent.
You couldn’t help but smile at him, the warmth of his body, the way he looked at you like there was nowhere else he’d rather be. It felt easy, natural, like you’d known him for far longer than a few days. The weight of the world, the stress of your life back home, all of it seemed so distant now, as if this place, this moment, existed outside of reality.
“I think I like Florida,” you said with a chuckle, snuggling into his chest as his arms tightened around you. “Even if it was an accident.”
Luke laughed softly, the sound rumbling through his chest as he pressed a kiss to your temple. “If it brings you here, I’d call it a happy accident.”
You felt your cheeks warm at his words, but it wasn’t the same kind of heat from earlier. This was something different—a flutter of something that felt suspiciously close to contentment, maybe even happiness. The kind of feeling you hadn’t expected to find in someone else, especially after everything with your boyfriend.
But as Luke held you, his heart beating steadily against yours, you couldn’t help but wonder if maybe, just maybe, you had found something real in this unexpected escape. Something that went beyond just a temporary distraction.
And the thought both thrilled and terrified you.
Luke tilted your chin up, his eyes searching yours again, and for a moment, you could feel the weight of unspoken things hanging between you. He didn’t say anything, though, just smiled that crooked, boyish smile of his before kissing you softly, like he was sealing a promise neither of you were quite ready to say aloud.
Whatever this was, whatever it was turning into, you didn’t want to think about it too much. Not yet. For now, it was enough to be here with him, to share this space, this connection.
“Stay with me tonight,” he whispered, his voice gentle but full of meaning.
You nodded, your heart skipping a beat as you nestled closer to him. “I’m not going anywhere.”
You rested your head against Luke’s chest, feeling the steady rise and fall of his breathing, the warmth of his skin against yours. For a while, there was nothing but the quiet rhythm of your hearts, beating in time with one another. It was peaceful, comfortable, and for the first time in a long time, you felt like you were exactly where you were meant to be.
But even as you lay there, wrapped up in Luke’s arms, a small voice in the back of your mind whispered doubts. You couldn’t ignore the nagging thoughts completely, the flicker of guilt that had been lurking ever since you met him. You hadn’t told him everything. Not yet.
There was still him. Your boyfriend. The one you had come to Florida to forget.
The thought of your boyfriend felt distant now, like a shadow of another life, but it was still there—lingering. You and Luke hadn’t defined anything, hadn’t talked about what this was or what it could become. But the fact that you hadn’t told Luke you were still technically with someone… it weighed on you, even if you wanted to pretend it didn’t. Especially now, as he held you close, whispering promises you weren’t sure you deserved.
Luke ran his fingers lightly through your hair, his voice a soft murmur as he spoke, “You’re quiet. What’s going on in that head of yours?”
You swallowed, feeling the tension creep back into your body. For a second, you considered telling him the truth—about your boyfriend, about the fight, about why you’d really come to Florida. But you didn’t. Instead, you forced a smile, hoping he couldn’t see through it.
“Just… thinking,” you said softly, lifting your gaze to meet his. “About how lucky I am to have found you here.”
It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the whole truth either. Luke smiled, his thumb brushing over your cheek in that gentle way of his, and the knot of guilt twisted tighter in your chest. You hadn’t meant for things to get this complicated. But now that they had, you knew it was only a matter of time before the truth came out.
And when it did, you weren’t sure what would be left between you and Luke.
───
“You had a fucking boyfriend, are you kidding me right now?” Luke's words were harsh as he threw your phone on the hotel bed, his expression nothing short of pissed.
You flinched at the sound of the phone hitting the mattress, the tension in the room thickening. He paced in front of you, hands tugging at his hair as if trying to physically keep himself from exploding. You stood there, arms crossed defensively, your heart racing with frustration of your own.
“It wasn’t like that,” you shot back, your voice rising in defiance. “We were on a break, Luke! It wasn’t serious anymore—he and I were practically over.”
“Practically over?” Luke echoed, his laugh bitter and incredulous. He stopped pacing and turned to face you, his eyes blazing with disbelief. “So, what? You just decided to hop on a plane and find someone else while you weren’t technically broken up? You should’ve told me. You lied to me!”
“I didn’t lie!” You snapped, your own anger boiling over. “I never said I was single, I just didn’t tell you because it didn’t matter. He doesn’t matter! He’s out of my life!”
Luke took a step toward you, his expression hardening. “That’s bullshit, and you know it. If it didn’t matter, you would’ve told me. You’re trying to act like you did nothing wrong, but keeping something like this? That’s the same as lying.”
Your chest tightened, heat rushing through your body as your defenses kicked in. “Don’t twist this on me, Luke. You’re acting like I cheated on you when we weren’t even anything official. We were on a break, for god’s sake. I was done with him.”
“But you didn’t tell me!” Luke’s voice cracked with frustration, his hands gesturing wildly as if trying to make sense of the situation. “You let me think there was nothing holding you back. That it was just us. That we… that this was real!”
You clenched your fists, trying to hold back the flood of emotions threatening to spill over. “It is real! I never wanted to hurt you, Luke. I came here to get away from that mess, not to drag it with me. I didn’t expect to meet you, to… to feel this way.”
Luke shook his head, his jaw tightening as he looked away, his hands gripping the back of his neck. “But you let me fall for you,” he said, his voice quieter now, but no less intense. “And all the while, you were still tied to him. How do I know you’re even telling the truth now?”
You felt a wave of frustration crash over you, your temper flaring up again. “Don’t act like I’m the only one here who’s screwed up! You’ve been hiding things too, haven’t you? You didn’t even tell me who you really are—that you’re this big shot hockey player. You kept that from me too!”
Luke’s eyes flashed with something like hurt, but the anger was still there, simmering beneath the surface. “That’s not the same thing, and you know it. I didn’t hide something that could hurt you. I didn’t lie about someone else being in my life!”
You let out a frustrated breath, taking a step back, feeling cornered. “Fine! Maybe I messed up. But don’t act like I’m the only one who made mistakes here, Luke. You didn’t tell me everything either.”
Luke’s gaze locked onto yours, both of you standing there, chests heaving with the weight of the argument. Neither of you willing to back down. Neither of you ready to admit defeat.
“You know what?” Luke finally said, his voice cold as he broke the silence. “If you’re gonna keep defending yourself, then maybe you’re right. Maybe we’re not what I thought we were.”
His words hit you harder than you expected, your breath catching in your throat. You stared at him, the fire in your chest warring with the sudden ache you felt deep inside.
“Luke—”
“No.” He cut you off, his expression hardening once again. “I need time to think. Alone.”
With that, he turned and walked out the door, leaving you standing in the middle of the room, your mind spinning with everything left unsaid.

So hello! I'm sitting here stewing over the Watcher news. Like. I too, firmly believe in creators getting paid. But like, also, they have to create content people WANT to watch. I don't watch any of Steven Lim's stuff.
A lot of people have talked about it but, there's something so viscerally infuriating about watching someone eat, which is basically half of my paycheck or more on a single dish. I don't like it! I don't watch it. And the fact that they've confirmed that at least a portion of their content is going to be that moving forward means that that would be the content I'm paying for.
And I won't do it. I will go back and watch podcasts. I actually stopped listening to most of their content in favor of other channels at this point, like I swapped over a lot of the content to Simon Whistlers channels (shout out to him and his writing team) because it covers a lot of the topics that Watcher covered, but it greater detail and with the same-ish bias.
Sure. Creatives deserve to be paid for their work. But when you're asking your community, which is barely getting by, suffering record inflation and a housing crisis "please pay for our videos" the answer for a lot of them is going to be "no" because they can't afford it or don't think that the content you make is worth it.
You can make it about the righteousness of paying creators if you want, but realize, most of these people are supporting creators. I'm subscribed to about five patreons which are about the cost of Watcher. I do not value Watchers content more than these others creators I'm subscribed to currently, and will not cancel one of those subscriptions for this. And that's fine. One third of their content being unpalatable (haha) to me means it isn't worth that money.
So I'll unsubscribe. I'll watch other content and be on with it.
Edit: I'm home now and can add links for alternatives.
Decoding the Unknown > Historical Mysteries Channel, goes over things like The Bermuda Triangle, Jersey Devil, Urban Legends, etc.
The Casual Criminalist > What it says on the tin, True Crime Show, thoughtfully researched and abstains from unnecessary gore
Into the Shadows > Darker Social/Historical Topics
Biographics > Also what it says on the tin, Biographies of different people, spans all throughout history
Highlight History > Look into a variety of historical topics, unfortunately, does not have a gameshow-like element, but informative

TEAM SWEETHEART - J. HUGHES
paring: Jack Hughes x fem! reader
word count: 2.7k
requested? yes - jack being in love with an absolute sweetheart and she’s part of the devils team, he introduces her to his family and they can tell how much jack is head over heals in love with her, and she also has a great relationship with luke
warnings: use of y/n.

As Y/N stepped into the locker room, her presence commanded attention. Her smile was radiant, her eyes filled with warmth and excitement. Jack felt a jolt of electricity shoot through him as he watched her, his heart skipping a beat at the sight of her.
"Hey everyone, this is Y/N," the team's manager announced, gesturing towards her. "She'll be joining us as our new social media manager."
The room erupted into cheers and applause, welcoming Y/N with open arms. But for Jack, it felt like time had slowed down, his gaze locked on her as if drawn by an invisible force.
Y/N's eyes met Jack's, and for a moment, the world around them faded away. In that instant, Jack felt a connection unlike anything he had ever experienced before. It was as if he had known Y/N his entire life, as if their souls were somehow intertwined, destined to find each other in this moment.
As the team continued to welcome Y/N, Jack couldn't shake the feeling of warmth spreading through him. He wanted nothing more than to get to know her, to learn every little detail about the person who had captured his heart with just a smile.
Throughout the rest of the day, Jack found himself stealing glances at Y/N whenever he could, his heart racing with anticipation. And as they interacted more and more, Jack knew without a doubt that Y/N was someone special – someone he couldn't imagine his life without.
The locker room was buzzing with excitement as Y/N set up her phone to film the latest TikTok for the New Jersey Devils' social media account. Jack Hughes sat in his locker, lacing up his skates, trying to focus on the game ahead, but his attention kept drifting to Y/N.

Y/N moved around the room with ease, her energy infectious as she interacted with the players, her phone poised to capture every moment. Despite his nerves about being on camera, Jack couldn't help but admire her passion for her work.
"Hey, Jack, want to be in this TikTok?" Y/N called out, flashing him a playful grin.
Jack's heart skipped a beat at the invitation. He wasn't usually a fan of being filmed, but if it meant getting Y/N's attention, he was willing to make an exception.
"Sure, why not?" Jack replied with a nervous chuckle, standing up from his locker and joining Y/N in front of the camera.
As Y/N began recording, she turned to Jack with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Alright, Jack, when's the last time you called your parents for something?"
Jack's cheeks flushed with embarrassment as he racked his brain for an answer. He wasn't used to being put on the spot like this, especially in front of his teammates.
"Uh, I think it was last week," Jack said, his voice slightly shaky with nerves. "I called my mom to ask for her chicken soup recipe."
Y/N laughed, the sound music to Jack's ears. "Classic mom move. Thanks, Jack!"
As Y/N moved on to the next player, Jack couldn't help but feel a sense of pride swell within him. Despite his initial discomfort with being on camera, he was grateful for the opportunity to make Y/N smile, even if it meant stepping out of his comfort zone.
Throughout the rest of the day, Jack found himself eagerly anticipating the next TikTok shoot, eager to spend more time with Y/N and show her just how much he was willing to do for her attention.
Jack couldn't help but steal glances at Y/N as she bustled around, her infectious smile brightening the room. From the moment he first met her, he was captivated by her warmth, her kindness, and her unwavering passion for the team. She was more than just a colleague to him; she was his everything.

As the game drew nearer, Jack found himself growing more nervous, not about the match, but about introducing Y/N to his family. He wanted them to see what he saw – an incredible woman who had stolen his heart. Taking a deep breath, he approached Y/N who was busy checking her phone for the latest fan tweets.
"Hey, Y/N," Jack said, his voice slightly shaky with nerves.
Y/N looked up, her eyes lighting up at the sight of him. "Hey, Jack! Ready for the game tonight?"
Jack nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Yeah, but there's something else I wanted to talk to you about."
Y/N raised an eyebrow, curious. "What's up?"
Jack took a moment to gather his thoughts before speaking. "I was thinking... after the game, would you want to meet my parents? They are in town, and I'd love for them to meet you."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise, a blush creeping up her cheeks. "Really? You want me to meet your family?"
Jack nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. "Yeah, I want them to see how amazing you are. What do you say?"
Y/N's smile grew wider, and she nodded enthusiastically. "I'd love to, Jack. Thank you for inviting me."
Jack felt a wave of relief wash over him, knowing that Y/N had accepted his invitation. As they went about their respective duties leading up to the game, Jack couldn't shake the feeling of anticipation building inside him. He couldn't wait for his family to meet the woman who had stolen his heart.
After the game ended in a thrilling victory for the Devils, Jack wasted no time in leading Y/N to where his family was waiting outside the arena. As they approached, Jack's heart pounded in his chest, nervousness mixing with excitement.
"Mom, Dad, this is Y/N," Jack said, his voice filled with pride as he introduced Y/N to his parents.
Y/N greeted them with a warm smile, her eyes sparkling with kindness. "It's so nice to finally meet you both. Jack has told me so much about you."
Jack's parents exchanged a knowing glance, a smile tugging at their lips. They could see just how much Jack was head over heels in love with Y/N, and they couldn't be happier for him.
"It's wonderful to meet you too, Y/N," Jack's mom said, pulling her into a hug. "We've heard a lot about you too."
As they chatted and laughed together, Jack couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over him. Seeing Y/N getting along so well with his family only reaffirmed his feelings for her.
As they continued to chat, Jack's dad couldn't help but tease Jack a little. "So, Jack, when were you planning on introducing us to this lovely lady? We were starting to think you were keeping her all to yourself."
Jack laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head. "I wanted to make sure it was the right time, Dad. But I'm glad you finally get to meet her."
Y/N chuckled at the exchange, feeling instantly at ease with Jack's family. "Well, I'm just grateful Jack invited me. I've been looking forward to meeting you both."
Jack's mom smiled warmly at Y/N. "We're glad you're here, dear. Jack hasn't stopped talking about you since the day he met you."
Jack's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but he couldn't hide the smile that spread across his face. "I can't help it. Y/N is pretty amazing."
The conversation flowed effortlessly as they walked to Jack's family's car, Jack's younger brother Luke joining in with his usual enthusiasm. Luke immediately took a liking to Y/N, chatting animatedly with her about the latest hockey game and sharing stories from his own experiences with the team.
As they reached the car, Jack's mom turned to Y/N with a twinkle in her eye. "Y/N, would you like to join us for dinner tonight? We'd love to get to know you better."
Y/N's eyes lit up with excitement, and she glanced at Jack for confirmation. He nodded eagerly, his heart swelling with happiness at the prospect of spending more time with Y/N and his family.
"I would love to," Y/N said with a bright smile. "Thank you so much for the invitation."

The dinner scene unfolded with a comforting ambiance of familial warmth, as the aroma of delicious home-cooked meals filled the air and laughter resonated throughout the room. Jack's family had gone above and beyond to make Y/N feel welcomed, and as they all sat around the table, it was evident that this evening would leave a lasting impression on everyone present.
As the meal progressed, Jack's mom, with her nurturing demeanor, couldn't resist peppering Y/N with questions, eager to learn more about the woman who had captured her son's heart. "Y/N, dear, you must tell us more about yourself. Jack has told us so much, but we want to hear it from you."
Y/N, her cheeks flushed with warmth at the attention, smiled gratefully. "Well, there's not much to tell, really. I grew up in a small town not too far from here, and ever since I can remember, I've had a passion for hockey. It's been a dream come true to work with the Devils."
Jack's dad, a beacon of support and wisdom, nodded approvingly. "That's wonderful to hear, Y/N. We can tell how much you love what you do."
The conversation flowed effortlessly, with Jack's family sharing stories of their own and Y/N reciprocating with tales from her childhood and her experiences with the team. With each passing moment, the bond between Y/N and Jack's family grew stronger, the shared laughter and camaraderie weaving them together like threads in a tapestry.
As the evening drew to a close and the remnants of the meal were cleared away, Jack's mom turned to Y/N with a smile that radiated warmth. "Y/N, we're so grateful to have you here tonight. You've brought so much joy into our home, and we can't wait to spend more time with you in the future."
Y/N's heart swelled with gratitude, feeling truly embraced by Jack's family. "Thank you so much for having me. I've had a wonderful time tonight."
Jack found himself walking Y/N to the door, a mischievous glint in his eyes as they exchanged playful banter under the soft glow of the porch light.
"So, did you have fun tonight?" Jack inquired, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips as he stole a sideways glance at Y/N.
Y/N's smile was radiant, her eyes reflecting the warmth of the evening. "Of course I did. Your family is amazing, Jack. I feel so lucky to have met them."
Jack's heart swelled with affection at her words, his gaze lingering on her as they approached the front door. "Well, they're pretty fond of you too, you know. I think my mom might like you more than she likes me."
Y/N laughed, a melodious sound that sent a shiver down Jack's spine. "I highly doubt that, but I appreciate the sentiment."
With a surge of boldness, Jack closed the remaining distance between them, his lips capturing hers in a tender kiss. The world seemed to fade away as they shared the moment, the gentle rhythm of their hearts beating in sync.
Little did they know, Luke had been watching from the hallway, a knowing smile spreading across his face. He had always suspected there was a spark between his brother and Y/N, and seeing them together only confirmed his suspicions.
As Jack and Y/N reluctantly pulled away, their cheeks flushed with a mixture of excitement and bashfulness, Luke couldn't resist teasing them. "Well, well, well, looks like someone finally worked up the courage to make a move."
Jack's cheeks flushed with embarrassment as he shot Luke a playful glare. "Mind your own business, Luke."
Y/N giggled, feeling a newfound sense of camaraderie with Jack's younger brother. "Don't worry, Jack. I think it's sweet."
With a final goodbye and promises to see each other again soon, Y/N stepped out into the night, leaving Jack standing in the doorway with a smile on his face and a warmth in his heart that he knew would linger long after she was gone.
*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·..·:*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·..·:*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·..·:*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·..·:*¨¨*
As they sat in the meeting, Jack and Y/N couldn't deny the magnetic pull between them, their gazes constantly gravitating towards each other despite the discussions happening around them. It was as if the air crackled with unspoken words and unfulfilled desires, heightening the tension between them to almost unbearable levels.
Jack found himself mesmerized by Y/N's every movement, from the way her hair fell in gentle waves around her face to the way her lips curved into a subtle smile. He longed to reach out and brush his fingers against hers, to feel the warmth of her touch and lose himself in the depths of her eyes.
Meanwhile, Y/N's heart raced with each stolen glance at Jack, her cheeks flushing with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. She couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to finally give in to the undeniable attraction between them, to explore the depths of their connection without any inhibitions holding them back.
As the meeting dragged on, the tension between Jack and Y/N only seemed to intensify, reaching a crescendo that left them both breathless. Every accidental touch sent shivers down their spines, igniting a fire within them that threatened to consume them whole.
Finally, as the meeting came to an end and the rest of the team began to file out of the room, Jack and Y/N shared a lingering look filled with silent promises and unspoken desires. It was a moment that spoke volumes, a silent agreement to explore the depths of their connection and embrace the undeniable chemistry between them.
And as they stepped out of the meeting room and into the bustling office, the rest of the team couldn't help but notice the subtle shift in the dynamic between Jack and Y/N. They exchanged knowing looks and playful nudges, silently rooting for them to finally acknowledge the feelings that had been simmering beneath the surface for so long.
For Jack and Y/N, the tension between them was undeniable, a palpable electricity that coursed through their veins and bound them together in a way that neither of them could resist.
The air in the locker room was charged with excitement as the team prepared for another game. Amidst the hustle and bustle, Jack stole a moment alone with Y/N, his heart pounding with nervous anticipation.
"Hey, Y/N," Jack said, his voice laced with a hint of flirtation as he flashed her a playful grin.
Y/N turned to him, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Hey, Jack. What's up?"
Jack took a deep breath, summoning all his courage as he reached out to gently cup Y/N's cheek. "I've been thinking, and I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me. Like, officially."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise, a blush creeping up her cheeks. "Really? You mean like, be your girlfriend?"
Jack nodded, his heart racing with anticipation. "Yeah, exactly like that. So, what do you say?"
Y/N's smile widened into a grin as she leaned in closer to Jack, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Well, I suppose I could make an exception for you, Hughes."
With that, Jack's face broke into a radiant smile as he leaned in to capture Y/N's lips in a sweet, tender kiss. The world seemed to fade away as they lost themselves in the moment, the warmth of their embrace enveloping them like a cocoon.
And then, as if on cue, the rest of the team burst into applause, their cheers filling the locker room with a chorus of celebration. Jack and Y/N pulled away from each other, their cheeks flushed with happiness as they basked in the glow of their newfound relationship.
As the applause died down, Jack couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude for the incredible woman standing before him. With her by his side, he knew that anything was possible, and he couldn't wait to embark on this new chapter of their lives together.
And so, amidst the cheers and laughter of their teammates, Jack and Y/N shared one final kiss, sealing their newfound love with a promise to cherish each other for eternity.

A Journey of Love, Hockey, and Skating | jack hughes
Jack hughes x reader
Masterlist
It was a crisp autumn day when Jack Hughes, star forward for the New Jersey Devils, found himself in a dilemma. It wasn’t about hockey, contract talks, or media scrutiny — it was something far more personal. His girlfriend, Y/N, had never been to a game of his. She didn’t know the first thing about hockey, and Jack was starting to realize that he had never really taught her the ins and outs of the sport that had shaped his entire life.
Y/N and Jack had been together for a little over six months now, and though they had spent a lot of time together, their worlds never really collided when it came to hockey. She had met him through mutual friends, and while she loved him for his personality, his kindness, and his easy smile, hockey was a world she knew little about.
One evening, as they sat on the couch in his apartment, Y/N casually mentioned, “I’ve been meaning to ask… what’s the deal with icing? Like, what does that even mean?”
Jack chuckled, surprised. “You’ve been with me for months, and you’ve never asked about icing?” He raised an eyebrow, teasing her playfully.
“I don’t want to look dumb,” she admitted with a shy smile.
“Y/N, you could never look dumb,” he reassured her. “Come on, let me teach you. I’ll explain everything. Hockey 101.”
She laughed, shaking her head. “I’ll need a lot of lessons, I think.”
“Don’t worry,” Jack said, his voice soft and patient. “We’ll take it slow. I’ll even show you how to skate. I want you to feel like you get it, like you’re part of it.”
The thought of skating, especially in the context of Jack’s world, made Y/N nervous. She hadn’t skated since she was a kid, and back then, she had barely been able to stay upright. Still, she loved Jack and wanted to share this part of his life with him. “Okay, I’m in,” she agreed, smiling.
### The First Lesson: Hockey 101
The next day, Jack decided to take her to a quiet rink in the city. It wasn’t a professional arena, just a simple outdoor rink where locals came to skate during the winter months. Jack wanted it to be a low-pressure environment where Y/N could relax and focus without the distraction of a crowd.
They arrived, and Jack pulled on his gear — the jersey, the skates — and Y/N stood by the bench, watching him in awe. He made it all look so effortless.
“Alright, here’s the deal,” Jack started, his hands on his hips. “In hockey, the objective is simple: score more goals than the other team. You have three periods, and each period is 20 minutes long. There’s a goalie whose job is to stop the puck, and there are five players on the ice at a time — including the goalie.”
He pointed to a few different areas on the rink. “The blue lines are where the players try to control the game, and the red line? That’s the center line. Icing happens when the puck is shot across both blue lines without anyone touching it, and it crosses the goal line. It’s a violation, and the game stops. But we’ll get into all the details later.”
Y/N nodded slowly, trying to follow along. She didn’t get all of it, but Jack had such a calm, patient way of explaining it. She didn’t feel dumb for not knowing — instead, it felt like they were creating their own little world, a space where she could learn and Jack could teach.
Jack smiled. “You’re doing great. Now, time for the fun part. Let’s get you on the ice.”
### The Skating Lesson
Y/N put on her skates, a little wobbly, and stood up. The moment her blades touched the ice, she immediately felt the unease of being unsteady. Her knees trembled, and she almost lost her balance.
“Whoa, careful!” Jack said, reaching out to steady her. He grinned. “You gotta bend your knees a little. Think of it like a squat.”
She followed his instructions, trying to stay as low as she could without falling. “Like this?” she asked, glancing up at him.
“Yeah, exactly. Now, just glide a little bit.”
Y/N pushed off tentatively, and for a second, it felt like she was floating. But then her legs went out from under her, and she collapsed onto the ice with a soft thud.
“Hey, you okay?” Jack skated over to her immediately, offering a hand. His expression was a mix of concern and amusement.
“I’m fine,” she laughed, brushing herself off. “I think I need more practice.”
Jack grinned. “No worries. I’ll take it slow. Just focus on shifting your weight and pushing off with your outside edges. That’s the trick.”
Over the next hour, Jack patiently taught her the basics of skating. He held her hands as she made tentative strides around the rink, supporting her whenever she lost her balance. It wasn’t graceful — her movements were jerky and uncertain — but Jack’s presence gave her the confidence to keep trying.
“Good job, Y/N,” he said, his voice warm and encouraging. “You’re getting it. I’m really proud of you.”
She smiled up at him, her heart swelling. “Thanks, Jack. I don’t think I would’ve gotten this far without you.”
Jack skated backward in front of her, keeping her steady with one hand on her shoulder. “This is fun. I like being here with you. Maybe next time we can practice more advanced stuff, like crossovers, but for today, you’re doing great.”
She let out a little laugh, looking at him affectionately. “I can’t believe I’m skating with Jack Hughes. This is so weird, but also amazing.”
“You’re amazing,” he said, squeezing her hand. “And you’re doing way better than you think.”
### A Quiet Moment
After a couple of hours of skating, they took a break by the rink-side, sipping hot cocoa from a small cart nearby. Y/N was still a little shaky on the ice, but she could feel herself improving, and the adrenaline from skating was starting to wear off. They sat on the wooden bench, Jack wrapping an arm around her as they watched other skaters glide by.
Jack, who usually exuded confidence on the ice, looked at her with a softness in his eyes. “You know, this is my favorite part of the game — the quiet moments. The ones when you’re with someone you love, and everything else just fades away.”
Y/N rested her head on his shoulder, her heart full. “I feel the same way. I may not know everything about hockey yet, but I love being here with you. I’m really glad you’re teaching me.”
He kissed the top of her head, his voice tender. “I’m happy you’re learning, but what makes me happiest is that you’re here. You’re not just learning the game — you’re learning a part of me.”
They sat there in comfortable silence for a while, the cold air around them only adding to the warmth they felt in each other’s presence. The rink began to clear out as the sun set behind the city skyline, casting a soft golden glow over everything.
Jack stood up and pulled her gently to her feet. “Alright, I think we’ve had enough for today. You ready to hit the ice again?”
Y/N laughed, her nerves forgotten. “Yeah, let’s do it.”
They skated hand-in-hand, slowly at first, then picking up speed, laughing as they went. Jack helped her through each little challenge, showing her how to lean into the curves and glide across the ice with more ease. As the evening wore on, she felt herself getting more confident.
By the end of the night, Y/N couldn’t believe how much she had learned. The ice no longer felt like a slippery obstacle — it was something she could share with Jack, something that had brought them closer together.
As they left the rink, Jack turned to her, his eyes sparkling. “You did amazing today, Y/N. I’m proud of you.”
Y/N smiled, leaning in to kiss him softly. “I’m proud of me too. And I’m really glad I have you to teach me.”
Jack grinned. “I’ll teach you anything. Hockey, skating, life... whatever you want. We’re in this together.”
And as they walked off into the chilly night, hand in hand, Y/N realized that it wasn’t just the rules of hockey she had learned that day — it was something far more important: how to trust, how to share, and how to love.
And with Jack by her side, she knew there was no challenge she couldn’t face, no lesson she couldn’t learn.

violet fluff, luke and his grumpy gf who isn’t always the best at saying or showing her affection,
"I do love you, you know. Even if I'm shit at showing it."
thank you for requesting!🫶🏽
29. “I do love you, you know. Even if I’m shit at showing it.”
.
Usually, you were never one to let comments get to you.
It was something you were well aware came with territory of dating someone in the spotlight, but it didn’t turn you away. You weren’t one to let the opinions of people you knew bother you, let alone strangers on the internet hiding behind a screen. It was something you could easily disconnect from, knowing full well most comments were made through a veil of jealousy and envy.
You were secure in your relationship with Luke, why bother with people desperate to poke holes in something they didn’t know the details of?
It had been family skate day with the Devils and you had been told by Luke that the two of you were featured in the video the team posted on Instagram. You went to look for pure curiosity reasons, maybe drop a like before moving on with the day. You weren’t even sure why you looked at the comments. You weren’t sure why a few of them stuck out.
user: she literally looks like she wants to be anywhere else, idk why luke is with her
And maybe in the long run, it wouldn’t have bothered you. But then you found yourself with the team a week or so later, at some random bar in Jersey celebrating another win to the streak. You were settled in the seat beside Luke, his arm over the back of your chair and a beer in his other hand whilst you nursed a vodka coke he had gotten you.
“Oh, cover your eyes, people!” Curtis had laughed from the other side of the table, a teasing smile on his face. “They are within five inches of each other. Don’t get too excited, Luke!”
And—
You get it. You two didn’t show much PDA around the team or anyone in general. It wasn’t your kind of style. Luke sometimes held your hand or pulled you close, maybe a kiss to the top of your head. But overall, neither one of you was overly affectionate, especially in public.
And it never bothered you before. It still didn’t. But maybe it did peeve you off just a little that people just assumed it meant something more, that the lack of affection was telling of something else, that you didn’t—
“Luke?”
“Hm?” The boy hummed, his eyes glued to his phone screen as he aimlessly scrolled through what he missed in the old UMICH chat. His head was on your lap, his body sprawled over the couch whilst you were flicking through random channels. It had been a fairly normal evening for you both, minus the thoughts plaguing you.
“You know I love you, right?”
Luke paused, drawing his gaze away from his phone to look up at you with a frown. “What?” He questioned, an almost disbelieving laugh leaving his lips. “I mean, yeah. But where is this coming from?”
“Nothing, I—” You cut yourself off, shaking your head as you reached down to push some hair away from his face. He leaned into the touch. “I do love you, you know. Even if I’m shit at showing it.”
“I think you show it just fine, babe,” he assured you, his fingers wrapping around your wrist so he could tug your hand closer and press a soft kiss to your palm. It made your lips twitch upwards. “I know you’re obsessed with me, no need to go screaming it from the rooftops.”
You scoffed, tugging your hand away. “Loser.”
“Your loser that you love,” Luke retorted, a boyish grin on his face that you were endlessly fond of.
“Yeah, unfortunately.”

a jew review of: nhl team happy hanukkah posts
good evening and chag sameach to my hanukkah-celebrating pals out there on hockeyblr. today i bring you: a non-comprehensive and entirely subjective review from one (1) jewish hockey fan of the graphics posted by various nhl teams in celebration of the first night tonight. i definitely missed some, and some teams didn't post any at all, so it's a bit patchwork. here we go.
vancouver canucks: this is an extremely serviceable graphic. love the blurred dreidels to give the effect that they are spinning. very funny. props for the detail that there is a shadow of the menorah on the ice. straightforward. icemenorah is a themeTM but some did it better than others and this is a classic. 7/10
post continues under the cut for the sake of your dash and mine.
carolina hurricanes: obsessed with what the canes have done here though i cannot comprehend it. the weird techno style textured background. the out of focus magen david around. THE HURRICANES. IN HEBREW. WITH THE LITTLE CANES LOGO THING I FORGET THE NAME OF ON THE HEI? INCREDIBLE. points for creativity. overall baffling vibes. 6/10.
pittsburgh penguins: this is just adorable. you hired someone to draw this. spectacular work, guys. it's giving a bit of 'we browsed the target hanukkah deco section for inspo' but it's too adorable for me to care. it's team themed, it's hockey themed, it's holiday appropriate. love everything going on here. they get points for doing what very few other teams are doing and remembering this is night one, so only one candle is lit. most everyone else is getting a bit a head of themselves. 9/10.
washington capitals: and here we have another edition of the icemenorah, with a minimalist twist. this graphic screams 'oh fuck wait is that tonight' which to be fair is also how i, a jew, felt about realizing tonight was the first night of hanukkah. could'a done more, but it's perfectly fine. 6/10.
new jersey devils: this fucks. it's got devils themes. it's got a cool style. it's got vibes. it's got: more hockey stick menorahs which i am always excited about. that shamash candle is a graphic design nightmare but other than that i am all on board. 8/10
vegas golden knights: i love the gold foil effect and that you remembered there was more to hanukkah than candles, that's nice, as is involving the other affiliates! however. where are the vibes. this is not the vgk wishes you a chag sameach, this is a greeting card i got on etsy. 6/10 just bc i KNOW you can do better. where's the neon, babes.
los angeles kings: oh this is fun. it's icemenorah: WITH A TWIST. the art style is cute, it's got plenty of hockey theme, it's also very obviously LA-y, i'm giving them points for this one. the shadow is insane but that's okay, it's ~stylistic. it's cute. 7/10. UPDATE: definitely AI. boo hiss. 0/10.
montréal canadiens: this is probably my favourite for sheer vibes. you got: levitating icemenorah. you got: action-shot candle lighting. you got: remembering this is night ONE. you got: the implication that the torch is the shamash candle????? you got: JOYEUSE HANOUKKA!!!!!!!! (and like happy hanukkah or whatever i guess). obsessed. it's so funny. it's amazing. 9/10.
#long post#happy hanukkah besties here is: SOME THOUGHTS#chag sameach!!!#vancouver canucks#carolina hurricanes#pittsburgh penguins#washington capitals#new jersey devils#vegas golden knights#los angeles kings#montréal canadiens

OBSESSED
SUMMARY: you and jack had been dating for around nine months now, and recently his ex has been coming back around. this causes you to go on a social media stalking rampage, and soon you become a little obsessed with her.
PAIRINGS: jack hughes x fem!reader
WARNINGS: social media stalking, shit talking exes, use of jenna and nicole (nicole is a real person tho!!! bratters gf), use of (y/n)
if i told you how much i think about her, you’d think i was in love. and if you knew how much i looked at her pictures, you would we’re best friends.
It wasn’t hard to figure out who jack’s ex was. The way he seemed to barely look her way when one of his teammates brought up the fact she was at the game. Instead of sporting a devils jersey, like she used to, she was wearing a rangers jersey, and holding a sign for a rangers player.
it also wasn’t hard to immediately become jealous of her when jack’s teammates talked about how she used to always show up to games. it almost made you feel.. belittled. especially because you had a job, you couldn’t always make jacks games, but he understood that.
by the time the game ended and you sat on a bench, waiting for jack, you’d already find yourself scrolling through her instagram. you looked at every picture, how she was such a pretty blonde. short, tan, blonde, the stereotypical puck bunny. but she knew puck.
for the next fifteen minutes— she stayed on your mind.
‘cause i know her star sign, i know her blood type, i’ve seen every movie she’s been in and god she’s beautiful. i know you loved her, and i know i’m butt hurt— but i can’t help it, no i cant help it.
of course as soon as you and jack got home, you began to search her up online. so invested in your research, when you and jack ‘went to bed,’ you carefully snuck out of the man’s arms and back to your laptop.
she was an actress, of course she was an actress. she starred in a few movies, she was amazing. you bit your nail before quickly exiting the tabs as you heard your boyfriend’s footsteps.
“baby what are you doing up? it’s 12:44, come back to bed.” he spoke, hand rubbing his eyes.
you stood up from the stool and walked over to him, your body pressing against his as your arms wrapped around his torso.
“sorry love, i was just finishing up work.” you lied.
jack just hummed and the two of you went back to your bedroom. your mind began to cloud with thoughts, thoughts of her and jack. did jack treat her the exact same way he treated you? was anything special or was it shared? you know he loved her at one point, but now he loved you, so why stay butt hurt?
i’m so obsessed with your ex, uh huh. i know she’s been asleep on my side of your bed, and i can feel it. i’m staring at her, like i wanna get hurt. and i remember every detail you have ever told me, so be careful baby. IM SO OBSESSED WITH YOUR EX!
it was the second game against the rangers, this time and away game. the blonde was sat in the regular stands while you were in the WAGs suite. you could see her from where you sat, and your eyes burned holes in the back of her head.
thats the woman who had jacks heart before you, the woman who slept on your side of the bed, the woman who cheated on him twice. oh you knew a lot— especially from what jack told you.
“she cheated on me with some guy on the rangers— a real work of art, both of them.” jack told you.
you didn’t realize you were zoning out until nicole, one of the other WAGs, placed a hand on your shoulder.
“you alright there lovie? you seem to be staring at something down there a little too hard.” she asked.
your eyes flickered to her. “yeah im fine— just zoned out. when i get too excited it happens.”
nicole smiled. “well— hopefully our boys can kick the rangers ass. im tired of jenna constantly texting me to rub it in my face that we lost. im not even her friend.”
jenna was jacks ex. that was her name, jenna. she was still texting some of the devils girls? even after everything? you almost laughed, but instead you out on a confused look.
“jenna?” you pretended not to know her.
“oh shes jacks ex— we can’t stand her, especially after what she did to the boy.” nicole told you.
good to know.
she’s got those lips, she’s got those hips, the life of every fuckin’ party. she’s talented, she’s good with kids, she even speaks kindly about me..
the devils won, which called for a celebration in some random club. even though you were still in new york, people congratulated the team on the win. maybe they hated the rangers too, or they were islander fans. you didn’t really expect some of the rangers to show up though, and especially not jenna.
her lips popped with the bright red lip stick she adorned. her hips swayed with every step she took in that mini silver dress. in that moment, she became the life of the party. in that moment, you felt your hands wrap around your body.
that didn’t last for long though, especially not when jack was there. his body pressed against yours as you both danced to the music. his hands gripping your waist, your arms slung around his neck. the sloppy kisses he pressed to your jaw. you had this, she didn’t.
but she had to ruin it. “wow you are so pretty!” her voice rang out. this caused jack to slowly, irritatedly pull away. your hands fell down to his arms as the smile on your face slowly turned fake.
“oh thank you.. uh do i know you?” jacks hand squeezed your waist.
jenna gave a look to jack, which you caught, before looking back at you. “one of jacks exes. you are?” she spoke.
“his girlfriend.”
and i know you love me, and i know it’s crazy.. but every time you call my name, i think you mistake me for her. you both have moved on, you don’t even talk. but i can’t help it, i got issues, i can’t help it baby.
“(y/n), baby?” jacks voice rang through the apartment. your body tensed slightly as his voice, scared that maybe he said the wrong name and that maybe you were just another jenna.
“(y/n)? have you seen my shirt?” he spoke loudly.
you sighed through your nose, “which one?”
jacks footsteps padded on the floor. you hid a smile as you sat at the kitchen island. you expected him to speak, but instead his arms wrapped around you from behind, causing you to let out a laugh.
“well it seems to be right here, isn’t that right?” he pinched at the fabric that draped over your body.
you feigned a look of innocence. “oh, you meant this one?” you smiled.
“when did you put this one on, pretty girl?” he asked you.
“it was the first shirt i found this morning. i dont find it to be too endearing walking around naked.”
jacks lips met the side of your neck, as his hands ran up and under his shirt that you wore. “mm, i dont know, i think that would be pretty nice.”
you let out a laugh as your hand reached back to play with his hair. “and let some random people see me? no thank you.”
“i guess you’re right, wouldn’t want anyone to see whats for my eyes only.” he spoke.
you hummed, feeling his kisses move to your jaw and become sloppier. “lets take this shirt off you, shall we?”
your thoughts disappeared as he dragged you to your room. there was no way he didn’t love you, not after the way he just worshipped you. oh no, he was yours, but his ex was still someone who made you worry.
is she friends with your friends? is she good in bed? do you think about her? no, im fine, it doesn’t matter tell me, is she easy-going? never controlling? well-traveled? well read? oh god, she makes me so upset! im so obsessed with your ex!
as jack left for practice, you couldn’t help but wonder about his ex. the last few questions that ran through your mind. she wasn’t friends with nicole or any of the girls, but what about his friends? her and trevor followed each other, same with her and cole.
does jack think about her often? last night at the club she seemed to piss him off by coming up to you both, maybe thats all? maybe he thinks about how much he hates her? or maybe he misses her— oh god was she good in bed?
was she easy-going? you were easy-going. so who cared. never controlling? you werent that controlling, the only thing you didnt want jack doing was liking random models pictures, and that was a set boundary because he said the same thing about random male models or hockey players (besides friends of course— for the both of you).
god jenna barely did anything to you and she made you so upset. pissed— frustrated, made you wanna pull your hair out.
you were obsessed.
im unable to tag everyone!

Request for Jack. He’s asked about you during an after game interview…maybe dating rumors?
The arena was buzzing with excitement after the New Jersey Devils' recent win, the sounds of cheering fans echoing through the halls. Jack Hughes walked off the ice, adrenaline still pumping through his veins from the game. His teammates were patting him on the back, but his thoughts were elsewhere—mainly on you.
As he entered the interview room, cameras flashed, and reporters clamored for his attention. Jack took a seat, a confident grin on his face as he adjusted his jersey. The first few questions were typical: game highlights, strategies, and what it felt like to score that crucial goal. But then, one reporter leaned in, a mischievous glint in their eyes.
“Jack, there have been some rumors swirling about you and a certain someone,” they said, glancing at their notes. “Can you tell us about your relationship with [Y/N]?”
The room quieted, all eyes on him, and Jack’s heart skipped a beat. You had been spending a lot of time together lately, but he hadn’t expected this question to come up so soon.
“Uh, well,” he started, a playful smirk creeping onto his lips. “You know how it is. People like to talk, especially when you’re winning.”
A chuckle rippled through the gathered reporters, and he leaned back in his chair, feigning nonchalance. “But yeah, [Y/N] is amazing. We hang out a lot. She’s really supportive of me, and I appreciate that.”
The reporter pressed further, clearly enjoying the moment. “So are we to take that as confirmation that you two are dating?”
Jack glanced around, a hint of mischief in his eyes. He could feel the warmth creeping up his neck, but he didn’t mind. He loved the thought of you being recognized, even if it was just in rumors. “Let’s just say she’s someone special to me,” he replied, a smile breaking through. “But I’ll leave the details to her.”
The room erupted in laughter, and Jack leaned into it, his confidence soaring. “I’m just trying to focus on the game, you know? But if you want to know more, maybe you should ask her!”
With that, the questions shifted back to hockey, but Jack could still feel the buzz of speculation in the air. As the interview wrapped up, he walked out with a satisfied grin, his thoughts drifting to you and how you would react to all the chatter.
Later that night, after the excitement of the game faded, he sent you a quick text:
“Just so you know, I might have confirmed our relationship status in a post-game interview. What do you think?”
He grinned at the thought of your reaction, eagerly awaiting your response as he imagined the playful banter that was sure to follow.
