Jamie Tiergan x Erin Keenan (Jerin) 1. my beloveds okay, i was in pleasant shock when saw a "young love" plot line (i didn't know anything about TDiM when i started it so didn't expect to get lesbians) 2. Jamie and Erin already have such a wonderful dynamic to begin with, having bounced around each other before taking the leap after enough flustering and teasing. They care so deeply for each other, and one losing the other is beyond heartbreaking. Erin even admits how much she doesn't want to lose Jamie, which makes my heart scream and yell and cry and oh my god 3. They're sweet, they're cute, they're canon! Supermassive finally gave us an official queer couple that can get together and Jerin deserves some recognition for that. <3 4. I mean, its Jerin! They're relationship is so cute and interesting even if they don't get together, its so clear when they don't they still very much love and adore each other and have so much more to say. And when they ARE together they are just so cute and gentle to each other. The perfect couple <3 (also they are a very rare non-white biracial lesbian couple that aren't toxic or weird so the representation they hold is just <3) Laura Kearney x Max Brinly 1. Binky bonky 2. Laura is so protective about Max, just best gf ever 3. I think Laura's main motivation throughout the majority of the game being to break the curse on her boyfriend is SO good. The devotion here is so real. I love their silly old person pet names. Max wearing his girlfriend's clothes is also great. The scene where they reunite is SO good. This one's probably my favorite canon Supermassive ship I just completely buy that these two care about each other, want the best for each other, and enjoy each others' company.

i’ll give you some headcanons so i can write more !!

-kate is the first to notice these nerds. she notices that jamie no longer needs to ask erin what she wants in her coffee, and she’s able to walk up behind erin without her startling like she does if mark or charlie does.

-kate notices the little things. erin’s lingering eyes and shy smiles when jamie talks to her, the way she tucks her hair behind her ears like she’s shy and unsure how to express it.

-(kate once helped erin through an asthma attack when jamie called her baby by accident. kate knew the way erin smiled once she got her breath back that it was over for them)

-mark noticed next. the way erin always chose to sit beside jamie if given the choice, quietly mumbling to him to ask to trade spots. it meant mark got to sit beside kate so he of course agreed.

-he noticed the way jamie tried to act so casual when she touched erin. the way she slung her arm around erin to help her check sound and the way erin’s words began stumbling immediately.

-he gives them every opportunity to stick together if he can. he wants them to get together. (he thinks they’re sweet together)

-charlie still hasn’t noticed. he comments to kate about how close erin and jamie are, making the ‘it’s good to see gals being pals’ comments.

-not that he isn’t supportive. he’s the biggest ally and knows they both like girls individually it’s just never clicked in his head they like eachother.

-he likes the two of them working together, though. he’s happy to see jamie so excited to be at work and erin is smiling more than ever.

-jamie tries to be casually touchy with erin to get away with touching her. it works usually. she’s allowed an arm around the shoulders or a shoulder bump or the brush of a hand. she likes the way erin blushes when it happens.

-erin takes every excuse to be close to jamie. she chooses to sit in the back of the van if that’s were jamie is, and if jamie offers her the front seat she of course takes it because he loves the front seat. she just.. yknow likes sitting with jamie way more.

"I'll kill you! I mean it this time!" The blade in your hand is too small to do any real damage to the armored man, but you still wield it in front of you like all hell.

"Get away from me!" He mimics your steps as you move away. Tears sting in your eyes.

Of course he had to come back now, after everything was finally perfect. And he has to ruin it, like he always does.

He smiles. His teeth are almost as shiny as his armor.

"Oh, darling, aren't you the cutest little thing?" You swing as he rushed at you, but he snatches your wrist and the knife clatters to the floor. "I taught you better than that, didn't I?"

You're furious now, thrashing in his grasp. He tightens his grip, then loosens it almost immediately.

"Stop." And you do. His smile is gone, his tone no longer teasing. "I'm here to save you, my love."

There's rustling behind you, his eyes flick towards the figure.

"Mada...?" Jerin speaks quietly, padding slowly towards the two. You can hear the waver in your son's voice.

"Go back inside, minnow." You speak sweetly, taking advantage of the man's distraction and pulling away. You watch the boy hesitate, glancing wearily at Hok.

You quickly rush towards the boy, away from Hok. Wrapping him in your arms and pressing his face into the curve of your neck. "He's just an old friend, minnow."

You glare at the paladin as he snaps from his stupor. His pointed ears twitch in annoyance and his onyx eyes meet yours with equal ire.

"What have you done?"

"I told you I wouldn't wait." You meet him with a strong attitude. You couldn't do that before.

The boy is his. His slight pointed ears and too dark eyes are not human, neither are the markings that travel his arms and cheeks.

What fandoms do you write for? Derry Girls. I once had a Zootopia fic on AO3 from a few years ago, but that was expunged with predjudice when I blew the dust off my account for my Derry Girls fics!

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Charming, To Travel, A Confederacy of Fathers, Ruminations for a Sleepless Night, Coming of Age

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I didn't use to, primarily because I'm quite a shy person, but I try to do it now (at least for the early part of a fic's lifespan if I'm otherwise busy in real life). I need to get better at responding to new ones left on older fics though

What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? "Tell me I was wrong"

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? "She" was literally written to have a happy ending, but I would personally say "A Confederacy of Fathers"

Do you get hate on fics? Not so far, and hopefully that continues

Do you write smut? If so what kind? No. The smuttiest thing I wrote was in the epilogue to "She", and that was just one or two paragraphs with several euphemisms.

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve ever written? Niet! Not unless you count butchering Irish mythology

Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have a hard enough time writing by myself. I'll spitball and theorise with people about the plot, but the actual writing is all my own

What’s your all-time favorite ship? Jerin is my favourite, and I ship them hard and love to write them. I think my oldest one I can remember (and one I'm still slightly bitter that it never really left dock) was Ash and Misty from Pokemon. Honourable mentions to Lizzie x Gordo and T.J. x Spinelli too

What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? This depends on whether I can keep the writing impetus going or not, but "Mary Quinn's Cookery Book" has kind of reached a roadblock creatively. Hopefully I can get back to it once the current WIP is done, but we'll see.

What are your writing strengths? This question is highly anti-English, as we don't like to extoll our strengths! I like to think there's a flow to the stories I write, and that if there's little plot there's at least a good understanding of character. And I can weave in canon reasonably well

What are your writing weaknesses? I think know I can be florid - mainly in an effort not to continually repeat the same word, but it doesn't always feel natural. Also I can't plot for toffee; "She" notwithstanding, pretty much all of my fics are essentially single scenes, are un/strenuously connected scenes, or take place over a really short time period. Oh, and I seem to be having a love affair with the semicolon...

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I'm a monolinguist, unfortunately. One day I'd like to write in Irish (if Duolingo doesn't let me down), but for now it's good ol' Google Translate if I need another language.

I've been seeing people talk about du'lie and it's annoying when I am just an mlm trying to enjoy a mlm ship in peace. This here however was literally just straight up homophobia...

Thank you for responding to this the way you did because that person genuinely sounded super homophobic in their phrasing, "disgusting" "normal" stuff like that. I feel like many mlm ships are demonized and always judged and that's normal to me but for people to go this far in how much they dislike it is kind of crazy to me. I'm glad that even though you don't like the ship you still defend us from homophobes, this is the mlm, wlw soldarity that should be happening 🤝

Also I just hate the fact that this person brought up "obviously straight" because that's just generally such a dumb thing to say. No character is really "obviously straight" unless they say they are or are confirmed to be. People just assume every damn character is straight when that's not at all true. If that person really want us to only ship canon gay ships then we would have such a small selection of things to actually ship. This is strong heteronormativity and I hate seeing it. Straight is not the "normal" option, every sexuality is "normal" stop trying to shove that idea onto us because it's been done for years and has only caused the community to grow in self hatred instead of being prideful. This person is just really homophobic and by the way they didn't include T in LGBTQ+ maybe transphobic too.

Also I really have to point out that I have seen zero hatred for Jerin from du'lie shippers. At most I've seen people say "shut the fuck up about how much you hate du'lie". We like Jerin too, they are a cute couple and it's great to see within video games. The only people I've actually seen judging it are cishets who are angry about how "woke" it is. I really hate seeing that and I'm sorry if you've seen that hatred towards Jerin because it's just dumb. Why can't two wlw woc just exist? They exist in real life, there isn't a reason for them to exist they just exist. Wlw people exists, poc exist, but it seems like certain people who want to see white cishet people in their video games and it's honestly just telling of who they are as people. Once again, I'm sorry if that is something Jerin shippers deal with.

The thing that I'm just slightly upset about though is this weird hatred towards du'lie. No one has to like it, that's fine. It's dark and unhealthy and the whole ship premise is centered in dark horror romance which not everyone likes. The thing that I'm seeing though is the equating of Du'lie to the lack of content in other tdim ships. This just doesn't make sense to me, as I already said before, many of us are Jerin shippers too, and also because it's not really our fault there isn't much content for Jerin. None of us really have any obligation to make content for Jerin, it's not our fault that there isn't much content for Jerin. I can't speak for everyone but many of the people I know who ship du'lie are mlms who just wanted to make a ship where they can feel represented in a game that had no canon mlm content. It seems that people also tend to like the dark horror aspect of du'lie that is not present in other ships. It's really not much deeper than that, du'lie fans just really like the ship and make a lot of content about it. I don't even think we're truly that big of a group we just make a lot of content of them. Tdim doesn't have that large of a fandom anymore but I remember when it started, the other ships were much more popular and du'lie wasn't even a thing until people started reading fics of it on ao3. At that time du'lie was just a small ship that had extremely good writers and artists attached to it, which brought more people into it. Over time, the tdim fandom died off quite a bit but even now du'lie shippers are still here. Sure, our ship is weird and toxic but that's kind of the point, most of us are slasher simps and played tdim because we like horror in the first place. As an mlm, it feels like everytime I ship an mlm ship people will bash me for it. It feels like mlm ships aren't accepted in literally every fandom for one reason or another if it's not canon. Oh and if it is somewhat popular it's fetishized. People do focus on mlm ships sometimes but it's not at all in a way that that actually celebrates mlm love more than just obsessing over it. Mlms deserve to be able to consume content of relationships representing them and they should be allowed to enjoy what they want as much as everyone else does. This complaining of du'lie content to me is just really counterproductive. Why do we have to compete for attention in fandoms? That's not the way things are. Wlws and mlms are not at war with each other, they aren't competiting with each other, and they especially shouldn't be soley compared to each other because they are two completely different things.

I'm sorry for talking about that so long, I had a lot to say. I do still agree with you though about some things. You would be right that white ships are more popular than poc ships or interracial ships. I have to admit that, and we all have to realize that it's the truth. Everyone has so much internalized biases even if we don't intend to, it's simply a biproduct of the way society was built and the domination of certain groups in society. Representation is important but it is also important that representation is appreciated by EVERYONE. No one is forced to like certain characters or ships but the inclusion of diverse characters and ships should be appreciated by everyone. It is important that these diverse ships and characters are popular because it normalizes the existence of these types of people. I completely agree with you there, and I agree with your points about comparing du'lie to jerin on the basis of woc to white men. I know I said I don't like to compare wlw to mlm but intersectionality exists and it applies here. It is a problem but to be honest disputting this here isn't helping anyone. The tdim fandom is dying out, I can tell by how each post of it only has like 3 notes max. It's more important these types of conversations are projected onto things that matter and have an actual audience attached to them. I hope you understand that. We rare tdim likers can just coexist in peace without judging each other when we barely exist in the first place.

yeah of course! ive already seen my fair share of stuff for that pairing and its fans being annoying so it was bound to happen at some point. i understand what you mean by a "normal" ship, assuming youre referring to the fact that charlie/dumet is a pairing between a serial killer and its victim, but i took it as a .... straight vs gay type thing, w/ the straight being "normal." i hope that isn't what you meant. also the emphasis on the "mlm" part of the pairing just..... doesnt sit right w/ me

It’s difficult to keep an eye out for moving walls while running, as it turns out, and now they’re here, in this fucking trap, and Jamie swears she’s gonna kill that son of a bitch.

“Try to stay calm.” She tells Erin, but then the wall starts moving. 

She tries to break the glass on her own with no success, then tries the screwdriver.

It’s a useless pursuit, and that’s when she sees the button.

The reverse symbol above makes the function obvious, and Du’Met must really be crazy if he thinks she’d even consider hurting Erin, let alone go through with it.

She’s already carrying the weight of Charlie’s apparent death on her shoulders, whether she could’ve done anything more or not, and she won’t - no, can’t - carry another.

She won’t even stand near it.

“J - Jamie?” Erin asks, incredibly fearful. “What is that for?”

“Some shit I’m not doing.” Jamie answers resolutely, shaking her head.

She knows she can stand here and scheme for as much time as they have, but it’s pretty clear that they’re not going to think their way out of this. 

Somebody is dying here, and Erin seems to have realized that it’s not going to be her.

“Jamie. No. You can’t.” 

“This is exactly what he wants.” Jamie says, ignoring her implication and trying to keep it together. “You know I won’t hurt you. You’re not changing my mind.”

Erin can’t even look at her.

Her crying is uncontrollable, and she feels like she’s going to pass out.

Even if Jamie lets her live, who’s to say she’ll make it?

She’s done nothing but hinder the crew, and she can’t fathom the idea of going on without her, especially if she feels responsible.

“The others...they need you.” She insists, and Jamie looks almost offended.

Erin isn’t a burden, and the fact that she thinks she is is nauseating.

“Listen. Please.” Jamie pleads, voice trailing off into nothing, and Erin is completely devastated by the sound. “This isn't your fault. Understand?” 

Erin sputters to say something, anything, but it won’t come out.

The sight makes Jamie pause for a second, then completely break. 

“I love you.” She admits, glass closing in, and Erin looks at her like she’s committed a crime. “Just...don’t watch, okay?” 

She turns away as told, knowing from the way Jamie’s said it that it’s sacred, and now it’s going to haunt her.

Jamie loves her too, and the sound of her scream is deafening.

It’s the longest collection of seconds in Erin’s life before she hears glass shattering, a thud, and then, unbelievably, Jamie’s voice.

“Erin.”

It’s hoarse and shaky, but when Erin forces herself to turn back around, expecting some sort of auditory hallucination, she finds it undeniably real.

Jamie is on the floor a few feet away, talking, and breathing and alive.

She drops to her side almost immediately and helps her sit up, backing against the wall, but when she opens her mouth to speak, there’s no air left in her lungs.

“Hey...Hey, your inhaler.” Jamie murmurs, tapping Erin’s hand lightly, and she appreciates the reminder even though she’s sure Jamie’s gone mad.

There’s no way in hell she should be doing the care-taking right now, but it’s her, so of course she is.

Erin fishes into her pocket with shaky hands and sits next to her, taking a puff and exhaling painfully with the sound of “I love you” bouncing around her head like a pinball.

She gasps her way through several breathing cycles, Jamie’s hand sitting atop hers, and finally, mercifully, there’s some sense of control.

“Okay?” Jamie asks, only realizing how stupid it sounds once she’s said it, and Erin could almost laugh.

Jamie has no idea how good she is.

“You’re insane.” Erin responds, and then she’s kissing Jamie hard.

It’s messy and more than a little desperate, but Jamie only lets herself kiss back for a moment before breaking it. 

They’re both incredibly vulnerable, tears still streaming down Erin’s face, and Jamie isn’t about to take advantage.

Instead, she pulls Erin into her arms, letting her bury her face in her neck while she rubs at the small of her back.

There’s some comfort in the way their heartbeats synchronize, but it doesn’t last for long.

Du’Met’s gonna be pissed, and Jamie’s brain is already trying to figure out what’s next to protect them.

No time to process.

“You shouldn’t have done that.”

Erin eventually whispers between sobs, starting to quiet down just a little, and Jamie has no idea what to say so she jokes.

“I mean it worked out - ”

Erin squeezes her tightly to cut her off. “Jamie...I thought...”

“I know.” She replies, a jagged breath ripping through her entire body with the weight of it all. “Me too.”

After what feels like an eternity, the door in front of Kate creaks open.

Her heart drops in her chest when neither of them appear, and upon stepping closer, she hears crying.

It’s Erin, and Kate's thoughts start to race.

Jamie.

Shit.

Her hand flies to the amethyst crystal in her pocket, taking a deep breath as her stomach twists violently.

They need to keep going, but she can barely steel herself for what she’s about to see.

Upon entering the room however, there is no massacre.

Kate finds them both sitting against the wall, seemingly un-injured, and her relief is palpable.

Jamie acknowledges Kate with her eyes, holding Erin close and repeating something inaudible to her under her breath, and Kate can’t help but feel like she’s intruding on them.

She stares for a long second, unable to speak, and then she hears Jamie tell Erin that she’s here.

Her voice is completely wrecked, and it makes a cold, horrible feeling seep through Kate’s bones.

Something terrible happened here.

“Are you guys okay?” She finally manages to get out, and Jamie nods slowly, looking unsure.

“Yeah...yes...we are.”

The way it hangs is uncomfortable and Kate tries her best to focus. “He’s not far. We should - ”

“Yeah.” Jamie agrees, urging Erin gently that they need to go, and only then does Erin move, separating herself.

Her eyes are bloodshot and puffy, and it makes Kate’s heart ache.

“Let me help.” Kate offers, holding her hand out to Jamie, and she takes it to get to her feet.

She’s clearly trying to reset, to put this away to worry about later, and Kate has no idea how she does it.

She turns back and grabs her screwdriver from the floor, then reaches for Erin.

“C’mere.” She breathes, and Erin does, taking her hand and standing up beside her, a bit wobbly. 

Kate glances between them, but then there’s shuffling in the hallway.

God damn it.

“Come on.” She says anxiously, leading the way out of the room, and then Du’Met is there, staring them down.

“Stay close to me.” Jamie tells Erin, making sure she’s in front of her before they turn to run, and Erin clings to the words.

She’s not letting Jamie out of her sight.

Sam Giddings x Hannah Washington

1. Best friends to lovers dynamic? perfect. Sam was the only one (except for Beth) who was nice to Hannah in the prologue. And their relationship stats are very high. Sam would be very protective gf for Hannah

2. In your "Nothing bad ever happened ever" AUs, you've got some classic best friends (even childhood friends) to lovers. In canon, though, the tragedy of it all makes you want to chew through wood. Thinking about Sam having been in love with Hannah all that time when she was pining for some guy, and then losing her tragically because she couldn't find her in time to stop the prank. Also, right at the end of the game, as Sam makes a break for the light switch, you could easily assume that Hannah is lunging for her and ended up tackling a miner in the process, but a better idea, a *gayer* idea is that deep down, Hannah recognised Sam, and wanted to save her when it all came down to it. It's tragic. It's heartbreaking. It's kinda beautiful, to think, even in that altered state, Hannah loved Sam too, but only came to realise it at the last possible moment, and used that clarity to save her friend. Maybe she loved her that whole time, before the prank, but latched onto Mike as a way to seem 'normal'. Heteronormativity is the real villain in this game and that's that on that

Jamie Tiergan x Erin Keenan (Jerin)

1. my beloveds okay, i was in pleasant shock when saw a "young love" plot line (i didn't know anything about TDiM when i started it so didn't expect to get lesbians)

2. Jamie and Erin already have such a wonderful dynamic to begin with, having bounced around each other before taking the leap after enough flustering and teasing. They care so deeply for each other, and one losing the other is beyond heartbreaking. Erin even admits how much she doesn't want to lose Jamie, which makes my heart scream and yell and cry and oh my god

3. They're sweet, they're cute, they're canon! Supermassive finally gave us an official queer couple that can get together and Jerin deserves some recognition for that. <3

4. I mean, its Jerin! They're relationship is so cute and interesting even if they don't get together, its so clear when they don't they still very much love and adore each other and have so much more to say. And when they ARE together they are just so cute and gentle to each other. The perfect couple <3 (also they are a very rare non-white biracial lesbian couple that aren't toxic or weird so the representation they hold is just <3)

there is. definitely a lot to be said about the merits of having the ability to turn off Shipper Brain Mode and enjoy a story without ever demanding a ship be canon or even shipping any of the characters. however there is something about a hint or a promise of romance in works that aren’t explicitly romantic that makes them somehow more tantalizing and interesting. anyway this post is about james and erin derrygirls where i had 0 expectations of their feelings ever being confirmed and simply entertained the idea of them as a what-if-james-likes-erin-lol on a completely different tab that was left open in my brain but when it Was confirmed in s3 and the way it was left unfulfilled but all the same promised absolutely has done numbers to my brain chemistry like the small and tender crushes of two kids living ordinary lives under extraordinary circumstances. something about that yeah.

In all my research of tarantulas that led up to me getting Vasquez, I couldn't NOT put it all on TDIM.

Species:

Kate - OBT (Old world)

Mark - Brazillian black (New world)

Jamie - Cobalt blue (Old world)

Erin - Curly hair (New world)

Charlie - Greenbottle blue (New world)

Du'met - Tarantula hawk

Connie - Tungara frog

Lore:

-Markate and Jerin dynamics are different here. Both are old world/new world couples, but Jerin have less issues because both are female. So they get along perfectly fine with 0 issue. Mark broke up with Kate because he was scared, knowing the general relationship between female and male tarantulas (females eat males)

-Charlie is mean to everyone as usual but here its bc he's insecure as a male tarantula. Bc they live shorter lives and he's coming to the end of his so he's tryna one up everyone while he still can (We love an existential old tarantula)

-Connie is Mark's tungara frog. (yes, look up tarantula with pet frog its real)

-Du'met is a tarantula hawk. Literally just a wasp that hunts and kills tarantulas.

-Jamie gets to use her lil tarantula paws (yes tarantulas have paws) to braid Erin's curls.
